This "Equity Tool" is intended to facilitate use of the concepts and processes described in greater depth in the Equity by Design brief, "Promoting Socially Just Evidence-based Practice." We summarize the framework presented in this brief and offer guiding questions to support educators' preparation for and engagement in equity-based practice (EBP) elements and processes.

Given an input video of a person and a new garment, the objective of this paper is to synthesize a new video where the person is wearing the specified garment while maintaining spatiotemporal consistency. While significant advances have been made in image-based virtual try-ons, extending these successes to video often results in frame-to-frame inconsistencies. Some approaches have attempted to address this by increasing the overlap of frames across multiple video chunks, but this comes at a steep computational cost due to the repeated processing of the same frames, especially for long video sequence. To address these challenges, we reconceptualize video virtual try-on as a conditional video inpainting task, with garments serving as input conditions. Specifically, our approach enhances image diffusion models by incorporating temporal attention layers to improve temporal coherence. To reduce computational overhead, we introduce ShiftCaching, a novel technique that maintains temporal consistency while minimizing redundant computations. Furthermore, we introduce the \dataname~dataset, a new video try-on dataset featuring more complex backgrounds, challenging movements, and higher resolution compared to existing public datasets. The objective of multimodal intent recognition (MIR) is to leverage various modalities-such as text, video, and audio-to detect user intentions, which is crucial for understanding human language and context in dialogue systems. Despite advances in this field, two main challenges persist: (1) effectively extracting and utilizing semantic information from robust textual features; (2) aligning and fusing non-verbal modalities with verbal ones effectively. This paper proposes a Text Enhancement with CommOnsense Knowledge Extractor (TECO) to address these challenges. We begin by extracting relations from both generated and retrieved knowledge to enrich the contextual information in the text modality. Subsequently, we align and integrate visual and acoustic representations with these enhanced text features to form a cohesive multimodal representation. Comparative reviews are pivotal in understanding consumer preferences and influencing purchasing decisions. Comparative Quintuple Extraction (COQE) aims to identify five key components in text: the target entity, compared entities, compared aspects, opinions on these aspects, and polarity. Extracting precise comparative information from product reviews is challenging due to nuanced language and sequential task errors in traditional methods. To mitigate these problems, we propose MTP-COQE, an end-to-end model designed for COQE. Leveraging multi-perspective prompt-based learning, MTP-COQE effectively guides the generative model in comparative opinion mining tasks. Evaluation on the Camera-COQE (English) and VCOM (Vietnamese) datasets demonstrates MTP-COQE's efficacy in automating COQE, achieving superior performance with a 1.41% higher F1 score than the previous baseline models on the English dataset. Additionally, we designed a strategy to limit the generative model's creativity to ensure the output meets expectations. We also performed data augmentation to address data imbalance and to prevent the model from becoming biased towards dominant samples.

Multimodal Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis (MABSA) combines text and images to perform sentiment analysis but often struggles with irrelevant or misleading visual information. Existing methodologies typically address either sentence-image denoising or aspect-image denoising but fail to comprehensively tackle both types of noise. To address these limitations, we propose DualDe, a novel approach comprising two distinct components: the Hybrid Curriculum Denoising Module (HCD) and the Aspect-Enhance Denoising Module (AED). The HCD module enhances sentence-image denoising by incorporating a flexible curriculum learning strategy that prioritizes training on clean data. Concurrently, the AED module mitigates aspect-image noise through an aspect-guided attention mechanism that filters out noisy visual regions which unrelated to the specific aspects of interest. To address catastrophic forgetting in Continual Relation Extraction (CRE), many current approaches rely on memory buffers to rehearse previously learned knowledge while acquiring new tasks. Recently, prompt-based methods have emerged as potent alternatives to rehearsal-based strategies, demonstrating strong empirical performance. However, upon analyzing existing prompt-based approaches for CRE, we identified several critical limitations, such as inaccurate prompt selection, inadequate mechanisms for mitigating forgetting in shared parameters, and suboptimal handling of cross-task and within-task variances. To overcome these challenges, we draw inspiration from the relationship between prefix-tuning and mixture of experts, proposing a novel approach that employs a prompt pool for each task, capturing variations within each task while enhancing cross-task variances. Furthermore, we incorporate a generative model to consolidate prior knowledge within shared parameters, eliminating the need for explicit data storage. Low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites has brought about significant improvements in wireless communications, characterized by low latency and reduced transmission loss compared to geostationary orbit (GSO) satellites. Ultra-dense LEO satellites can serve many users by generating active beams effective to their locations. The beam placement problem is challenging but important for efficiently allocating resources with a large number of users. This paper formulates and solves a fast beam placement optimization problem for ultra-dense satellite systems to enhance the link budget with a minimum number of active beams (NABs). To achieve this goal and balance load among beams within polynomial time, we propose two algorithms for large user groups exploiting the modified K-means clustering and the graph theory. Current video retrieval systems, especially those used in competitions, primarily focus on querying individual keyframes or images rather than encoding an entire clip or video segment. However, queries often describe an action or event over a series of frames, not a specific image. This results in insufficient information when analyzing a single frame, leading to less accurate query results. Moreover, extracting embeddings solely from images (keyframes) does not provide enough information for models to encode higher-level, more abstract insights inferred from the video. These models tend to only describe the objects present in the frame, lacking a deeper understanding. To equip artificial intelligence with a comprehensive understanding towards a temporal world, video and 4D panoptic scene graph generation abstracts visual data into nodes to represent entities and edges to capture temporal relations. Existing methods encode entity masks tracked across temporal dimensions (mask tubes), then predict their relations with temporal pooling operation, which does not fully utilize the motion indicative of the entities' relation. To overcome this limitation, we introduce a contrastive representation learning framework that focuses on motion pattern for temporal scene graph generation. Firstly, our framework encourages the model to learn close representations for mask tubes of similar subject-relation-object triplets. Secondly, we seek to push apart mask tubes from their temporally shuffled versions. Moreover, we also learn distant representations for mask tubes belonging to the same video but different triplets. Temporal grounding, which localizes video moments related to a natural language query, is a core problem of vision-language learning and video understanding. To encode video moments of varying lengths, recent methods employ a multi-level structure known as a feature pyramid. In this structure, lower levels concentrate on short-range video moments, while higher levels address long-range moments. Because higher levels experience downsampling to accommodate increasing moment length, their capacity to capture information is reduced and consequently leads to degraded information in moment representations. To resolve this problem, we propose a contrastive learning framework to capture salient semantics among video moments. Our key methodology is to leverage samples from the feature space emanating from multiple stages of the video encoder itself requiring neither data augmentation nor online memory banks to obtain positive and negative samples. To enable such an extension, we introduce a sampling process to draw multiple video moments corresponding to a common query. Subsequently, by utilizing these moments' representations across video encoder layers, we instantiate a novel form of multi-scale and cross-scale contrastive learning that links local short-range video moments with global long-range video moments. Network slicing is a critical feature in 5G and beyond communication systems, enabling the creation of multiple virtual networks (i.e., slices) on a shared physical network infrastructure. This involves efficiently mapping each slice component, including virtual network functions (VNFs) and their interconnections (virtual links), onto the physical network. This paper considers slice embedding problem in which the order of VNFs can be adjusted, providing increased flexibility for service deployment on the infrastructure. This also complicates embedding, as the best order has to be selected. We propose an innovative optimization framework to tackle the challenges of jointly optimizing slice admission control and embedding with flexible VNF ordering. Additionally, we introduce a near-optimal branch-and-bound (BnB) algorithm, combined with the A* search algorithm, to generate embedding solutions efficiently. Extensive simulations on both small and large-scale scenarios demonstrate that flexible VNF ordering significantly increases the number of deployable slices within the network infrastructure, thereby improving resource utilization and meeting diverse demands across varied network topologies., Comment: Submitted to IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management

Recent advances in text-guided image editing enable users to perform image edits through simple text inputs, leveraging the extensive priors of multi-step diffusion-based text-to-image models. However, these methods often fall short of the speed demands required for real-world and on-device applications due to the costly multi-step inversion and sampling process involved. In response to this, we introduce SwiftEdit, a simple yet highly efficient editing tool that achieve instant text-guided image editing (in 0.23s). The advancement of SwiftEdit lies in its two novel contributions: a one-step inversion framework that enables one-step image reconstruction via inversion and a mask-guided editing technique with our proposed attention rescaling mechanism to perform localized image editing. Extensive experiments are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of SwiftEdit. In particular, SwiftEdit enables instant text-guided image editing, which is extremely faster than previous multi-step methods (at least 50 times faster) while maintain a competitive performance in editing results. Image editing technologies are tools used to transform, adjust, remove, or otherwise alter images. Recent research has significantly improved the capabilities of image editing tools, enabling the creation of photorealistic and semantically informed forged regions that are nearly indistinguishable from authentic imagery, presenting new challenges in digital forensics and media credibility. While current image forensic techniques are adept at localizing forged regions produced by traditional image manipulation methods, current capabilities struggle to localize regions created by diffusion-based techniques. To bridge this gap, we present a novel framework that integrates a multimodal Large Language Model (LLM) for enhanced reasoning capabilities to localize tampered regions in images produced by diffusion model-based editing methods. By leveraging the contextual and semantic strengths of LLMs, our framework achieves promising results on MagicBrush, AutoSplice, and PerfBrush (novel diffusion-based dataset) datasets, outperforming previous approaches in mIoU and F1-score metrics. Notably, our method excels on the PerfBrush dataset, a self-constructed test set featuring previously unseen types of edits. Here, where traditional methods typically falter, achieving markedly low scores, our approach demonstrates promising performance.

Recent approaches have yielded promising results in distilling multi-step text-to-image diffusion models into one-step ones. The state-of-the-art efficient distillation technique, i.e., SwiftBrushv2 (SBv2), even surpasses the teacher model's performance with limited resources. However, our study reveals its instability when handling different diffusion model backbones due to using a fixed guidance scale within the Variational Score Distillation (VSD) loss. Another weakness of the existing one-step diffusion models is the missing support for negative prompt guidance, which is crucial in practical image generation. This paper presents SNOOPI, a novel framework designed to address these limitations by enhancing the guidance in one-step diffusion models during both training and inference. First, we effectively enhance training stability through Proper Guidance-SwiftBrush (PG-SB), which employs a random-scale classifier-free guidance approach. By varying the guidance scale of both teacher models, we broaden their output distributions, resulting in a more robust VSD loss that enables SB to perform effectively across diverse backbones while maintaining competitive performance. Second, we propose a training-free method called Negative-Away Steer Attention (NASA), which integrates negative prompts into one-step diffusion models via cross-attention to suppress undesired elements in generated images. Our experimental results show that our proposed methods significantly improve baseline models across various metrics. Autonomous vehicles (AVs) have demonstrated significant potential in revolutionizing transportation, yet ensuring their safety and reliability remains a critical challenge, especially when exposed to dynamic and unpredictable environments. Real-world testing of an Autonomous Driving System (ADS) is both expensive and risky, making simulation-based testing a preferred approach. In this paper, we propose AVASTRA, a Reinforcement Learning (RL)-based approach to generate realistic critical scenarios for testing ADSs in simulation environments. To capture the complexity of driving scenarios, AVASTRA comprehensively represents the environment by both the internal states of an ADS under-test (e.g., the status of the ADS's core components, speed, or acceleration) and the external states of the surrounding factors in the simulation environment (e.g., weather, traffic flow, or road condition). AVASTRA trains the RL agent to effectively configure the simulation environment that places the AV in dangerous situations and potentially leads it to collisions. We introduce a diverse set of actions that allows the RL agent to systematically configure both environmental conditions and traffic participants. Additionally, based on established safety requirements, we enforce heuristic constraints to ensure the realism and relevance of the generated test scenarios. AVASTRA is evaluated on two popular simulation maps with four different road configurations. Our results show AVASTRA's ability to outperform the state-of-the-art approach by generating 30% to 115% more collision scenarios. Compared to the baseline based on Random Search, AVASTRA achieves up to 275% better performance. These results highlight the effectiveness of AVASTRA in enhancing the safety testing of AVs through realistic comprehensive critical scenario generation.

Early detection of skin abnormalities plays a crucial role in diagnosing and treating skin cancer. Segmentation of affected skin regions using AI-powered devices is relatively common and supports the diagnostic process. However, achieving high performance remains a significant challenge due to the need for high-resolution images and the often unclear boundaries of individual lesions. At the same time, medical devices require segmentation models to have a small memory foot-print and low computational cost. Based on these requirements, we introduce a novel lightweight model called MambaU-Lite, which combines the strengths of Mamba and CNN architectures, featuring just over 400K parameters and a computational cost of more than 1G flops. To enhance both global context and local feature extraction, we propose the P-Mamba block, a novel component that incorporates VSS blocks along-side multiple pooling layers, enabling the model to effectively learn multiscale features and enhance segmentation performance. We evaluate the model's performance on two skin datasets, ISIC2018 and PH2, yielding promising results. In the field of legal information retrieval, effective embedding-based models are essential for accurate question-answering systems. However, the scarcity of large annotated datasets poses a significant challenge, particularly for Vietnamese legal texts. To address this issue, we propose a novel approach that leverages large language models to generate high-quality, diverse synthetic queries for Vietnamese legal passages. This synthetic data is then used to pre-train retrieval models, specifically bi-encoder and ColBERT, which are further fine-tuned using contrastive loss with mined hard negatives. Our experiments demonstrate that these enhancements lead to strong improvement in retrieval accuracy, validating the effectiveness of synthetic data and pre-training techniques in overcoming the limitations posed by the lack of large labeled datasets in the Vietnamese legal domain.

Uncovering hidden topics from short texts is challenging for traditional and neural models due to data sparsity, which limits word co-occurrence patterns, and label sparsity, stemming from incomplete reconstruction targets. Although data aggregation offers a potential solution, existing neural topic models often overlook it due to time complexity, poor aggregation quality, and difficulty in inferring topic proportions for individual documents. In this paper, we propose a novel model, GloCOM (Global Clustering COntexts for Topic Models), which addresses these challenges by constructing aggregated global clustering contexts for short documents, leveraging text embeddings from pre-trained language models. GloCOM can infer both global topic distributions for clustering contexts and local distributions for individual short texts. Additionally, the model incorporates these global contexts to augment the reconstruction loss, effectively handling the label sparsity issue. Extensive experiments on short text datasets show that our approach outperforms other state-of-the-art models in both topic quality and document representations.

We study how the properties of being reduced, integral domain, and normal, behave under small perturbations of the defining equations of a noetherian local ring. Existing Score Distillation Sampling (SDS)-based methods have driven significant progress in text-to-3D generation. However, 3D models produced by SDS-based methods tend to exhibit over-smoothing and low-quality outputs. These issues arise from the mode-seeking behavior of current methods, where the scores used to update the model oscillate between multiple modes, resulting in unstable optimization and diminished output quality. To address this problem, we introduce a novel image prompt score distillation loss named ISD, which employs a reference image to direct text-to-3D optimization toward a specific mode. Our ISD loss can be implemented by using IP-Adapter, a lightweight adapter for integrating image prompt capability to a text-to-image diffusion model, as a mode-selection module. A variant of this adapter, when not being prompted by a reference image, can serve as an efficient control variate to reduce variance in score estimates, thereby enhancing both output quality and optimization stability. Our experiments demonstrate that the ISD loss consistently achieves visually coherent, high-quality outputs and improves optimization speed compared to prior text-to-3D methods, as demonstrated through both qualitative and quantitative evaluations on the T3Bench benchmark suite.

Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown strong in-context learning (ICL) abilities with a few demonstrations. However, one critical challenge is how to select demonstrations to elicit the full potential of LLMs. In this paper, we propose Curriculum Demonstration Selection (CDS), a novel demonstration selection method for ICL. Instead of merely using similarity, CDS additionally partitions samples by their complexity measurements. Following curriculum learning, CDS then selects demonstrations from easy to difficult. Thus the selected demonstrations cover a wide range of difficulty levels, enabling LLMs to learn from varied complexities within the training set. Experiments demonstrate that our CDS consistently outperforms baseline methods, achieving notable improvements across nine LLMs on three benchmarks. Segmentation has long been essential in computer vision due to its numerous real-world applications. However, most traditional deep learning and machine learning models need help to capture geometric features such as size and convexity of the segmentation targets, resulting in suboptimal outcomes. To resolve this problem, we propose using a CovHuSeg algorithm to solve the problem of kidney glomeruli segmentation. This simple post-processing method is specified to adapt to the segmentation of ball-shaped anomalies, including the glomerulus. Unlike other post-processing methods, the CovHuSeg algorithm assures that the outcome mask does not have holes in it or comes in unusual shapes that are impossible to be the shape of a glomerulus. We illustrate the effectiveness of our method by experimenting with multiple deep-learning models in the context of segmentation on kidney pathology images. We propose SharpDepth, a novel approach to monocular metric depth estimation that combines the metric accuracy of discriminative depth estimation methods (e.g., Metric3D, UniDepth) with the fine-grained boundary sharpness typically achieved by generative methods (e.g., Marigold, Lotus). Traditional discriminative models trained on real-world data with sparse ground-truth depth can accurately predict metric depth but often produce over-smoothed or low-detail depth maps. Generative models, in contrast, are trained on synthetic data with dense ground truth, generating depth maps with sharp boundaries yet only providing relative depth with low accuracy. Our approach bridges these limitations by integrating metric accuracy with detailed boundary preservation, resulting in depth predictions that are both metrically precise and visually sharp. Multimodal LLMs have advanced vision-language tasks but still struggle with understanding video scenes. To bridge this gap, Video Scene Graph Generation (VidSGG) has emerged to capture multi-object relationships across video frames. However, prior methods rely on pairwise connections, limiting their ability to handle complex multi-object interactions and reasoning. To this end, we propose Multimodal LLMs on a Scene HyperGraph (HyperGLM), promoting reasoning about multi-way interactions and higher-order relationships. Our approach uniquely integrates entity scene graphs, which capture spatial relationships between objects, with a procedural graph that models their causal transitions, forming a unified HyperGraph. Significantly, HyperGLM enables reasoning by injecting this unified HyperGraph into LLMs. Additionally, we introduce a new Video Scene Graph Reasoning (VSGR) dataset featuring 1.9M frames from third-person, egocentric, and drone views and supports five tasks: Scene Graph Generation, Scene Graph Anticipation, Video Question Answering, Video Captioning, and Relation Reasoning. Empirically, HyperGLM consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods across five tasks, effectively modeling and reasoning complex relationships in diverse video scenes.

In recent years, deepfakes (DFs) have been utilized for malicious purposes, such as individual impersonation, misinformation spreading, and artists' style imitation, raising questions about ethical and security concerns. However, existing surveys have focused on accuracy performance of passive DF detection approaches for single modalities, such as image, video or audio. This comprehensive survey explores passive approaches across multiple modalities, including image, video, audio, and multi-modal domains, and extend our discussion beyond detection accuracy, including generalization, robustness, attribution, and interpretability. Additionally, we discuss threat models for passive approaches, including potential adversarial strategies and different levels of adversary knowledge and capabilities. We also highlights current challenges in DF detection, including the lack of generalization across different generative models, the need for comprehensive trustworthiness evaluation, and the limitations of existing multi-modal approaches. Finally, we propose future research directions that address these unexplored and emerging issues in the field of passive DF detection, such as adaptive learning, dynamic benchmark, holistic trustworthiness evaluation, and multi-modal detectors for talking-face video generation., Comment: 26 pages

In this paper, we aimed to develop a neural parser for Vietnamese based on simplified Head-Driven Phrase Structure Grammar (HPSG). The existing corpora, VietTreebank and VnDT, had around 15% of constituency and dependency tree pairs that did not adhere to simplified HPSG rules. To attempt to address the issue of the corpora not adhering to simplified HPSG rules, we randomly permuted samples from the training and development sets to make them compliant with simplified HPSG. We then modified the first simplified HPSG Neural Parser for the Penn Treebank by replacing it with the PhoBERT or XLM-RoBERTa models, which can encode Vietnamese texts. We conducted experiments on our modified VietTreebank and VnDT corpora. Our extensive experiments showed that the simplified HPSG Neural Parser achieved a new state-of-the-art F-score of 82% for constituency parsing when using the same predicted part-of-speech (POS) tags as the self-attentive constituency parser. Additionally, it outperformed previous studies in dependency parsing with a higher Unlabeled Attachment Score (UAS). However, our parser obtained lower Labeled Attachment Score (LAS) scores likely due to our focus on arc permutation without changing the original labels, as we did not consult with a linguistic expert. Existing 3D instance segmentation methods frequently encounter issues with over-segmentation, leading to redundant and inaccurate 3D proposals that complicate downstream tasks. This challenge arises from their unsupervised merging approach, where dense 2D instance masks are lifted across frames into point clouds to form 3D candidate proposals without direct supervision. These candidates are then hierarchically merged based on heuristic criteria, often resulting in numerous redundant segments that fail to combine into precise 3D proposals. To overcome these limitations, we propose a 3D-Aware 2D Mask Tracking module that uses robust 3D priors from a 2D mask segmentation and tracking foundation model (SAM-2) to ensure consistent object masks across video frames. Rather than merging all visible superpoints across views to create a 3D mask, our 3D Mask Optimization module leverages a dynamic programming algorithm to select an optimal set of views, refining the superpoints to produce a final 3D proposal for each object. Our approach achieves comprehensive object coverage within the scene while reducing unnecessary proposals, which could otherwise impair downstream applications. In this paper, we propose a low-complexity and fast hybrid beamforming design for joint communications and sensing (JCAS) based on deep unfolding. We first derive closed-form expressions for the gradients of the communications sum rate and sensing beampattern error with respect to the analog and digital precoders. Building on this, we develop a deep neural network as an unfolded version of the projected gradient ascent algorithm, which we refer to as UPGANet. This approach efficiently optimizes the communication-sensing performance tradeoff with fast convergence, enabled by the learned step sizes. UPGANet preserves the interpretability and flexibility of the conventional PGA optimizer while enhancing performance through data training. Our simulations show that UPGANet achieves up to a 33.5% higher communications sum rate and 2.5 dB lower beampattern error compared to conventional designs based on successive convex approximation and Riemannian manifold optimization. Developing an interpretable system for generating reports in chest X-ray (CXR) analysis is becoming increasingly crucial in Computer-aided Diagnosis (CAD) systems, enabling radiologists to comprehend the decisions made by these systems. Despite the growth of diverse datasets and methods focusing on report generation, there remains a notable gap in how closely these models' generated reports align with the interpretations of real radiologists. In this study, we tackle this challenge by initially introducing Fine-Grained CXR (FG-CXR) dataset, which provides fine-grained paired information between the captions generated by radiologists and the corresponding gaze attention heatmaps for each anatomy. Unlike existing datasets that include a raw sequence of gaze alongside a report, with significant misalignment between gaze location and report content, our FG-CXR dataset offers a more grained alignment between gaze attention and diagnosis transcript. Furthermore, our analysis reveals that simply applying black-box image captioning methods to generate reports cannot adequately explain which information in CXR is utilized and how long needs to attend to accurately generate reports. Consequently, we propose a novel explainable radiologist's attention generator network (Gen-XAI) that mimics the diagnosis process of radiologists, explicitly constraining its output to closely align with both radiologist's gaze attention and transcript. Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated the potential to address some issues within the semiconductor industry. However, they are often general-purpose models that lack the specialized knowledge needed to tackle the unique challenges of this sector, such as the intricate physics and chemistry of semiconductor devices and processes. SemiKong, the first industry-specific LLM for the semiconductor domain, provides a foundation that can be used to develop tailored proprietary models. With SemiKong 1.0, we aim to develop a foundational model capable of understanding etching problems at an expert level. Our key contributions include (a) curating a comprehensive corpus of semiconductor-related texts, (b) creating a foundational model with in-depth semiconductor knowledge, and (c) introducing a framework for integrating expert knowledge, thereby advancing the evaluation process of domain-specific AI models. Through fine-tuning a pre-trained LLM using our curated dataset, we have shown that SemiKong outperforms larger, general-purpose LLMs in various semiconductor manufacturing and design tasks. Our extensive experiments underscore the importance of developing domain-specific LLMs as a foundation for company- or tool-specific proprietary models, paving the way for further research and applications in the semiconductor domain. Natural Language Inference (NLI) is a task within Natural Language Processing (NLP) that holds value for various AI applications. However, there have been limited studies on Natural Language Inference in Vietnamese that explore the concept of joint models. Therefore, we conducted experiments using various combinations of contextualized language models (CLM) and neural networks. We use CLM to create contextualized work presentations and use Neural Networks for classification. Furthermore, we have evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of each joint model and identified the model failure points in the Vietnamese context. The highest F1 score in this experiment, up to 82.78% in the benchmark dataset (ViNLI). By conducting experiments with various models, the most considerable size of the CLM is XLM-R (355M). That combination has consistently demonstrated superior performance compared to fine-tuning strong pre-trained language models like PhoBERT (+6.58%), mBERT (+19.08%), and XLM-R (+0.94%) in terms of F1-score. This article aims to introduce a novel approach or model that attains improved performance for Vietnamese NLI. Overall, we find that the joint approach of CLM and neural networks is simple yet capable of achieving high-quality performance, which makes it suitable for applications that require efficient resource utilization.

Vision-brain understanding aims to extract semantic information about brain signals from human perceptions. Existing deep learning methods for vision-brain understanding are usually introduced in a traditional learning paradigm missing the ability to learn the connectivities between brain regions. Meanwhile, the quantum computing theory offers a new paradigm for designing deep learning models. Motivated by the connectivities in the brain signals and the entanglement properties in quantum computing, we propose a novel Quantum-Brain approach, a quantum-inspired neural network, to tackle the vision-brain understanding problem. To compute the connectivity between areas in brain signals, we introduce a new Quantum-Inspired Voxel-Controlling module to learn the impact of a brain voxel on others represented in the Hilbert space. To effectively learn connectivity, a novel Phase-Shifting module is presented to calibrate the value of the brain signals. Finally, we introduce a new Measurement-like Projection module to present the connectivity information from the Hilbert space into the feature space. The proposed approach can learn to find the connectivities between fMRI voxels and enhance the semantic information obtained from human perceptions. Our experimental results on the Natural Scene Dataset benchmarks illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method with Top-1 accuracies of 95.1% and 95.6% on image and brain retrieval tasks and an Inception score of 95.3% on fMRI-to-image reconstruction task. Our proposed quantum-inspired network brings a potential paradigm to solving the vision-brain problems via the quantum computing theory.

Naturalistic driving action localization task aims to recognize and comprehend human behaviors and actions from video data captured during real-world driving scenarios. Previous studies have shown great action localization performance by applying a recognition model followed by probability-based post-processing. Nevertheless, the probabilities provided by the recognition model frequently contain confused information causing challenge for post-processing. In this work, we adopt an action recognition model based on self-supervise learning to detect distracted activities and give potential action probabilities. Subsequently, a constraint ensemble strategy takes advantages of multi-camera views to provide robust predictions. Finally, we introduce a conditional post-processing operation to locate distracted behaviours and action temporal boundaries precisely. Enhancing light emission from perovskite nanocrystal (NC) films is essential in light-emitting devices, as their conventional stacks often restrict the escape of emitted light. This work addresses this challenge by employing a TiO$_2$ grating to enhance light extraction and shape the emission of CsPbBr$_3$ nanocrystal films. Angle-resolved photoluminescence (PL) demonstrated a tenfold increase in emission intensity by coupling the Bloch resonances of the grating with the spontaneous emission of the perovskite NCs. Fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) provided micrometer-resolution mapping of both PL intensity and lifetime across a large area, revealing a decrease in PL lifetime from 8.2 ns for NC films on glass to 6.1 ns on the TiO$_2$ grating. Back focal plane (BFP) spectroscopy confirmed how the Bloch resonances transformed the unpolarized, spatially incoherent emission of NCs into polarized and directed light. These findings provide further insights into the interactions between dielectric nanostructures and perovskite NC films, offering possible pathways for designing better performing perovskite optoelectronic devices.

In this paper, we propose ZeFaV - a zero-shot based fact-checking verification framework to enhance the performance on fact verification task of large language models by leveraging the in-context learning ability of large language models to extract the relations among the entities within a claim, re-organized the information from the evidence in a relationally logical form, and combine the above information with the original evidence to generate the context from which our fact-checking model provide verdicts for the input claims. Integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) is envisioned as a key feature in future wireless communications networks. Its integration with massive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) techniques promises to leverage substantial spatial beamforming gains for both functionalities. In this work, we consider a massive MIMO-ISAC system employing a uniform planar array with zero-forcing and maximum-ratio downlink transmission schemes combined with monostatic radar-type sensing. Our focus lies on deriving closed-form expressions for the achievable communications rate and the Cram\'er--Rao lower bound (CRLB), which serve as performance metrics for communications and sensing operations, respectively. The expressions enable us to investigate important operational characteristics of massive MIMO-ISAC, including the mutual effects of communications and sensing as well as the advantages stemming from using a very large antenna array for each functionality. Furthermore, we devise a power allocation strategy based on successive convex approximation to maximize the communications rate while guaranteeing the CRLB constraints and transmit power budget. The rapid advancement of large language models (LLMs) and multimodal learning has transformed digital content creation and manipulation. Traditional visual editing tools require significant expertise, limiting accessibility. Recent strides in instruction-based editing have enabled intuitive interaction with visual content, using natural language as a bridge between user intent and complex editing operations. This survey provides an overview of these techniques, focusing on how LLMs and multimodal models empower users to achieve precise visual modifications without deep technical knowledge. By synthesizing over 100 publications, we explore methods from generative adversarial networks to diffusion models, examining multimodal integration for fine-grained content control. We discuss practical applications across domains such as fashion, 3D scene manipulation, and video synthesis, highlighting increased accessibility and alignment with human intuition. Our survey compares existing literature, emphasizing LLM-empowered editing, and identifies key challenges to stimulate further research. Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) has emerged as a promising approach to enhance the performance of large language models (LLMs) in knowledge-intensive tasks such as those from medical domain. However, the sensitive nature of the medical domain necessitates a completely accurate and trustworthy system. While existing RAG benchmarks primarily focus on the standard retrieve-answer setting, they overlook many practical scenarios that measure crucial aspects of a reliable medical system. This paper addresses this gap by providing a comprehensive evaluation framework for medical question-answering (QA) systems in a RAG setting for these situations, including sufficiency, integration, and robustness. We introduce Medical Retrieval-Augmented Generation Benchmark (MedRGB) that provides various supplementary elements to four medical QA datasets for testing LLMs' ability to handle these specific scenarios. Utilizing MedRGB, we conduct extensive evaluations of both state-of-the-art commercial LLMs and open-source models across multiple retrieval conditions. Our experimental results reveals current models' limited ability to handle noise and misinformation in the retrieved documents. We further analyze the LLMs' reasoning processes to provides valuable insights and future directions for developing RAG systems in this critical medical domain.

Forecasting temporal processes such as virus spreading in epidemics often requires more than just observed time-series data, especially at the beginning of a wave when data is limited. Traditional methods employ mechanistic models like the SIR family, which make strong assumptions about the underlying spreading process, often represented as a small set of compact differential equations. Data-driven methods such as deep neural networks make no such assumptions and can capture the generative process in more detail, but fail in long-term forecasting due to data limitations. We propose a new hybrid method called MP-PINN (Multi-Phase Physics-Informed Neural Network) to overcome the limitations of these two major approaches. MP-PINN instils the spreading mechanism into a neural network, enabling the mechanism to update in phases over time, reflecting the dynamics of the epidemics due to policy interventions. Experiments on COVID-19 waves demonstrate that MP-PINN achieves superior performance over pure data-driven or model-driven approaches for both short-term and long-term forecasting.

We introduce two complementary techniques for efficient adaptive optimization that reduce memory requirements while accelerating training of large-scale neural networks. The first technique, Subset-Norm adaptive step size, generalizes AdaGrad-Norm and AdaGrad(-Coordinate) by reducing the second moment term's memory footprint from $O(d)$ to $O(\sqrt{d})$ through step-size sharing, where $d$ is the model size. For non-convex smooth objectives under coordinate-wise sub-gaussian gradient noise, we prove a noise-adapted high-probability convergence guarantee showing improved dimensional dependence over existing methods. Our second technique, Subspace-Momentum, reduces the momentum state's memory footprint by operating in a low-dimensional subspace while applying standard SGD in the orthogonal complement. We establish high-probability convergence rates under similar relaxed assumptions. Empirical evaluation on LLaMA models from 60M to 1B parameters demonstrates the effectiveness of our methods, where combining subset-norm with subspace-momentum achieves Adam's validation perplexity in approximately half the training tokens (6.8B vs 13.1B) while using only 20% of the Adam's optimizer-states memory footprint and requiring minimal additional hyperparameter tuning.

Droplet-based microfluidic devices have substantial promise as cost-effective alternatives to current assessment tools in biological research. Moreover, machine learning models that leverage tabular data, including input design parameters and their corresponding efficiency outputs, are increasingly utilised to automate the design process of these devices and to predict their performance. However, these models fail to fully leverage the data presented in the tables, neglecting crucial contextual information, including column headings and their associated descriptions. This study presents MicroFluidic-LLMs, a framework designed for processing and feature extraction, which effectively captures contextual information from tabular data formats. MicroFluidic-LLMs overcomes processing challenges by transforming the content into a linguistic format and leveraging pre-trained large language models (LLMs) for analysis. We evaluate our MicroFluidic-LLMs framework on 11 prediction tasks, covering aspects such as geometry, flow conditions, regimes, and performance, utilising a publicly available dataset on flow-focusing droplet microfluidics. We demonstrate that our MicroFluidic-LLMs framework can empower deep neural network models to be highly effective and straightforward while minimising the need for extensive data preprocessing. Moreover, the exceptional performance of deep neural network models, particularly when combined with advanced natural language processing models such as DistilBERT and GPT-2, reduces the mean absolute error in the droplet diameter and generation rate by nearly 5- and 7-fold, respectively, and enhances the regime classification accuracy by over 4%, compared with the performance reported in a previous study. This study lays the foundation for the huge potential applications of LLMs and machine learning in a wider spectrum of microfluidic applications.

Internet of Things and Deep Learning are synergetically and exponentially growing industrial fields with a massive call for their unification into a common framework called Edge AI. While on-device inference is a well-explored topic in recent research, backpropagation remains an open challenge due to its prohibitive computational and memory costs compared to the extreme resource constraints of embedded devices. Drawing on tensor decomposition research, we tackle the main bottleneck of backpropagation, namely the memory footprint of activation map storage. We investigate and compare the effects of activation compression using Singular Value Decomposition and its tensor variant, High-Order Singular Value Decomposition. The application of low-order decomposition results in considerable memory savings while preserving the features essential for learning, and also offers theoretical guarantees to convergence. Experimental results obtained on main-stream architectures and tasks demonstrate Pareto-superiority over other state-of-the-art solutions, in terms of the trade-off between generalization and memory footprint.

In this paper we investigate the existence, uniqueness and exponential stability of pseudo almost periodic (PAP-) mild solutions of the parabolic-elliptic (P-E) Keller-Segel system on a bounded domain $\Omega\in \mathbb{R}^n$ with smooth boundary. First, the well-posedness of the corresponding linear system is established by using the smoothing estimates of the Neumann heat semigroup on $\Omega$. Then, the existence of PAP-mild solution of linear system is done by proving a Massera-type principle. Next, we obtain the well-posedness of such solutions for semilinear system by using the results of linear system and fixed point arguments. The exponential stability is proven by using again the estimates of the Neumann heat semigroup. Medical eye-tracking data is an important information source for understanding how radiologists visually interpret medical images. This information not only improves the accuracy of deep learning models for X-ray analysis but also their interpretability, enhancing transparency in decision-making. However, the current eye-tracking data is dispersed, unprocessed, and ambiguous, making it difficult to derive meaningful insights. Therefore, there is a need to create a new dataset with more focus and purposeful eyetracking data, improving its utility for diagnostic applications. In this work, we propose a refinement method inspired by the target-present visual search challenge: there is a specific finding and fixations are guided to locate it. After refining the existing eye-tracking datasets, we transform them into a curated visual search dataset, called GazeSearch, specifically for radiology findings, where each fixation sequence is purposefully aligned to the task of locating a particular finding. Subsequently, we introduce a scan path prediction baseline, called ChestSearch, specifically tailored to GazeSearch. Finally, we employ the newly introduced GazeSearch as a benchmark to evaluate the performance of current state-of-the-art methods, offering a comprehensive assessment for visual search in the medical imaging domain.
