The purpose of this article is to explore the archival methods and practices used in organizing personal archives, with a specific focus on the procedures employed in creating classification scheme in collections related to the performing arts. The study population selected for this research corresponds to the personal archive of Juan Carlos Gené, held at the Instituto de Artes del Espectáculo, which belongs to the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras of the Universidad de Buenos Aires. In order to obtain a more detailed overview of the state of the archive, a data collection instrument was designed for subsequent analysis in relation to what exists in the personal archive, the producer’s activities, and their representation in the classification scheme.

Objective: The purpose of this research was to evaluate the quality of archival services in archival centers in Iran. Methods: The present study was conducted with a descriptive approach and a comparative causal method. The statistical population of this research was the employees of Iran's archival centers, a sample of 120 people was selected from among them, and the instrument used was a questionnaire. The statistical test used is one-sample T-test, ANOVA test and Friedman test. Results: According to the answers to the research questions related to each of the archival centers of Iran and in general regarding the quality of archival services, there is a significant difference between the obtained weighted average and the experimental average (5) at the significance level of 0.05. The t value and the degrees of freedom related to each of Iran's archival centers indicate that this difference is significant at the 0.05 level. In fact, the service quality of Iran's archival centers is higher than the desired level. The results of Tukey's post hoc test indicate that this difference is evident between the archival centers of Iran and the Astan Quds document center. Finally, according to the ranking obtained through the Friedman test in terms of prioritizing the quality of archival services in the studied archival centers, it can be stated as follows: 1. Astan Quds Document Center; 2. National Archives of Iran; 3. Center for documents of the Islamic Council; 4. Department of Documents and Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; 5. Contemporary History Studies Institute; and 6. Islamic Revolution Documentation Center. Conclusion: The results indicate that the status of service quality of archival centers is higher than the desired level. Also, there is a significant difference between the archival centers of Iran in terms of the quality of archival services, which is evident between the archival centers of Iran and the Astan Quds Document Center. This research is the first research in the field of measuring and evaluating the quality of archival services that has been carried out in the archival centers of Iran.

The reflections presented here are framed within the challenges related to access to archives, based on the premise that access not only involves making the archives available and searchable through technological resources, but also understanding their origin and production context. In this sense, access becomes a process of mediation, which implies a complex negotiation between the expectations of users and the specialized knowledge that archival science can provide. Given that users have very diverse profiles in terms of experience, education, and information needs, archival mediation can only be carried out if the profile of the institutions that safeguard the documentary heritage, the nature of their holdings, and above all, the specificity of archival documents are understood.

Historically, the terms “school archive” refer to archives that are derived from an educational entity at middle or high school. However, the scientific literature gives us other examples, in which “school archives” are presented as a broad concept, which can also identify, in certain cases, archives from universities. In this sense, the term is limited for some uses, since educational laws often present levels of education that differ or extend the three mentioned, in different jurisdictions. This article, therefore, seeks to characterize and analyze the concept of “school archive”, considering its multiple epistemological perspectives. Methodologically, it uses Rodgers’ (2000) strategy of concept analysis, which allows the identification of common attributes, history, and consequences of the use of this concept. It has been considered, from the analysis carried out, that the term adheres to certain educational contexts, but from a more limited spectrum, it fails to represent the specificities required for each educational level.

Today, taking pictures has become a daily process facilitated by the popularization of technology, as opposed to how slow it was in the past. Either way, this human manifestation is positioned as part of the historical memory of a society. But, how are photography and historical memory linked to determine its importance and choose its conservation? This is precisely the question that will be tried to answer in the analysis that follows. It is concluded that photography plays a prominent role as a historical memory that affects the collective imagination and serves as visual evidence that deserves to be preserved in archives

The survey of documentary sources kept in the Historical Archive of the province of Buenos Aires that can be used to narrate the history of education and its institutions is presented. The available resources and funds available to citizens are listed.

The collective experience of school librarians from the Buenos Aires educational regions 2 and 17 who recovered reading books and school manuals between 1860 and 1960 is narrated. The books, which were usually purged from the library collection, were cataloged to form the District Library Memoirs that, although not currently open to the public, disseminated their ancient bibliographical collection through social networks. The actions carried out with the Virtual Collective Catalog “Treasures of Region 17” are also explained, which emerged inspired by the Memories District Library.

This article presents an experience developed between third year students of the career of Higher Technician in Documents and Archives Administration in the space of Professional Practice 2 and the Secondary School of Education No. 30 María Luisa Bemberg. Since 2018, in the framework of professional practices, an articulated work has been developed between the Instituto Superior de Formación Docente y Técnica Nro. 83 de Quilmes, hereinafter ISFDyT Nro. 83 and the Escuela de Educación Secundaria Nro. 30 also from the district of Quilmes, hereinafter EES 30 in order to organize the documentary fund for the improvement of institutional management.

This paper presents an approach to the figure of Luis Fortunato Iglesias based on his personal archive donated by his family members to CENDIE. Iglesias was a rural teacher for almost 20 years and developed an innovative pedagogical experience at Rural School No. 11 in Tristán Suárez, province of Buenos Aires. At that time it was a unitary school, with only one teacher and a multi-grade format. His teaching experience was the basis for the publication of several books and a long career as a lecturer, consultant, writer, civil servant and activist.

This article proposes to reflect on alternative ways of looking at and showing writer's archives. It highlights the work of the curator in the elaboration of artifacts and the realization of interventions related to the archives to be disseminated. It also focuses on the construction of pieces and exhibition and display strategies that propose crossings and subjective and/or thematic encounters between diverse elements and contexts. We encourage the generation of assemblies that propitiate the event as a result of the encounter and mutual affectation of dissimilar elements that open possibilities for new views, readings and interpretations in order to encourage the interest and circulation of these funds.

The Epistolary Documentation Center (CDE) is a space that promotes the preservation and study of written correspondence that has circulated throughout Argentina. All documents are stored in a secure repository and are part of an open and collaborative digital archive (www.sobrecartas.com). During 2021 and 2022, the CDE and the Library of Congress agreed to work together to create a participatory archive on the epistolary memory linked to the Malvinas War in Argentina. The purpose of this project is to preserve letters, telegrams and postcards related to the war, in order to highlight the precious historical and social meaning of these documents.

Within the framework of public policies aimed at the recovery, conservation and preservation of the pedagogical memory of the Buenos Aires educational system, the province of Buenos Aires has a jurisdictional project that promotes awareness of the material and immaterial culture housed in the different educational institutions of one of the largest educational systems in Latin America. It also promotes the organization and dissemination of archival material, in order to show and make available to the educational and academic community documents of great historical and pedagogical value. The origin of the jurisdictional project and the development in the territory of the first actions from the Integral Program of School and Specialized Libraries of the Educational System of the province of Buenos Aires are presented here.

Through the process of assembling the collection that comprises the personal library of a teacher named Luis Fortunato Iglesias, carefully guarded by the Educational Documentation and Information Center, we embark on a journey through the books that inspired him to build a teaching method in rural education. This journey can be observed in the marks and writings found on its pages, revealing the multiple readings that reflect his journeys through authors and topics as diverse and rich as his pedagogical expertise.

Objetive. Questioning whether government archiving is really being an instrument in the fight against corruption, or is it just part of a discourse that continues to perpetuate a corrupt system. Method. Documentary analysis of archival processes and archival laws in Mexico applied to the spectrum of corruption. Results. The archival control instruments (ICA): if they are aligned with the functions, attributions and procedures that are carried out, if they are updated or if they do not exist. Conclusions. The way in which corruption is characterized in Mexico limits the identification and problematization of other aspects that are affected by it and that may be relevant to combat it, as is the case of Archival, which, being an undervalued area and distant from society, it is susceptible to being manipulated or applied incorrectly or tendentiously without this being evident, precisely because of the lack of knowledge that the population has regarding it.

The traditional view regarding valuation is established both in archives and in libraries, referring to their social and heritage values, however, within those same values, a topic that has been left forgotten is the study and determination of the economic value of the documentary resources that they have, which has resulted in a segmented perspective in relation to the heritage aspect that archive funds and library collections represent as part of the assets of the people and institutions to which they belong. In this sense, the objective is to show the economic valuation or appraisal as a highly specialized activity, which can be applied in Archives and Libraries, identifying in which cases or situations the different types of economic values can be used that from Accounting are allocate for the goods.

This article was based on a qualitative approach with a documentary research method and information analysis techniques. The general objective was to analyze the itineraries in the historical-institutional construction of archival science as a profession and discipline in Colombia, which took its first steps to establish itself as a fundamental work space during the Kingdom of New Granada, when there was an important peak in the organization of archives in public entities. In the 19th century, the first technical training proposals began to be identified, based on short courses, short courses and other similar training strategies. During the 1970s, academic programs in this area began to be established in important educational institutions in the country, such as the Universidad de La Salle, the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, the Universidad del Quindío, the Universidad de Antioquia, the Institución Universitaria INPAHU and, more recently, the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. In conclusion, the institutionalization of archival science as a profession and discipline in Colombia has followed an interesting process that has considered institutional aspects of archival organization practices, technical, technological and professional training and the processes of aggregation that ensure the protection and institutional valuation of the practice of these professionals as fundamental agents that guarantee access to information, the preservation and conservation of the country's documentary heritage, and transparency as a vital element in the strengthening of democracy.

The analysis of information and the products derived from it represent a valuable work tool, when it is desired to obtain the maximum benefit from the vast volumes of information that can be accessed nowadays. In view of this notable importance, the main objective of this document was to mention the stages for obtaining an adequate analysis of the information, as a mechanism for expeditious access to content of interest and a research tool; consequently, as a means to leverage the production of new knowledge. For this purpose, the documentary research methodology was used, with the contributions of some authors that were integrated into a synthetic construction that responded to the aforementioned objective.

Taking as reference the classification of values made by Riegl for monuments and by Brandi for works of art in order to be able to evaluate them as heritage objects within the methodology used by Conservation-Restoration, an analytical crossing is made with the contributions made by Schellenberg and Wyffells from the Archival discipline; the first by formulating the notions of primary and secondary values, the second from the theoretical approach of the "Document Life Cycle". This analysis makes it possible to show the symbiotic relationship between the two disciplines, materialized in the valuation or identification of attribute values as a substantial part of the methodological component used by the two specialties when establishing the relevance of the objects of their field of study to decide regarding the final destination of the same.

During the first half of the 20th century, Bolivian anarchism reached an important and original development. Despite this, its peculiar print culture and absent collection prevented it from first producing and then preserving its documents, which has been decisive for the elaboration of the history, historiography and memory of that movement. Based on these documentary gaps or “silences” that find an explanation in an archival approach situated in a framework of power, in this article we propose to advance in a theoretical and historical definition of these concepts and to reflect on the strategies developed in Bolivian and foreign repositories that allowed us to build a corpus composed of documents (bibliography, hemerography and archival fonds) capable of replenish some of these missing parts. From this exploration, we will try to demonstrate that it is possible to contest and subvert, at least partially, the power in the archives.

The archive and library of the Asociación de la Prensa de Madrid is the largest library specializing in communication and press in Spain. The article describes its services, its bibliographic collection, the activities and institutional relationships that are carried out.

A case study focused on the reinterpretation that the artist Alán Gómez makes of the private archive of the criminal lawyer Javier Viera Múnera, found in an antique shop in the city of Medellín, precedes a critical analysis on the relationship between art and archive. The use of creative art strategies is highlighted when challenging and renewing the way of recording, storing and transmitting archived information. It will be shown that the selection, description, classification and analysis tasks that the artist does about the social situations contained in the archive, promote a different vision of the time of the information. Through art, the common representation of the archive as a neutral and static entity is questioned.

Marcelo and Alejandra, descendants of the writer Haroldo Conti, kidnapped and disappeared during the last military dictatorship, in 2005 brought their father's personal file, along with other documents, to the Commission for the Memory of the province of Buenos Aires (CPM). gathered by the family in the intense years of searching that followed her disappearance. Manuscripts, interviews, newspaper clippings, awards, personal documents, letters, audio recordings and dozens of photographs that make up the documentary collection are now available for consultation at the Archive and Documentation Center of the Commission for Memory (CPM) in the city of La Plata.

Teaching and research activities have led universities to gather a very important cultural and scientific heritage. These university collections are little known to the public and many times, despite being made up of very similar materials, they appear scattered in the different information units in which university centers are organized: libraries, archives and museums, among others. The trend named GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) is aware of what unites these entities and calls for developing joint actions and presenting their heritage in a unitary way. It is studied whether the GLAM trend has penetrated the 33 best-positioned European universities in the ARWU ranking (2019). For this, their heritage websites are analyzed to see how they are organized for the treatment of their collections and if libraries and archives have a space in them. The results of the study allow us to conclude that the university heritage is still scattered, and that only since the end of the 20th century, thanks to the possibilities of the Internet, have they really started to collaborate. However, libraries and archives still have a too small role and even a low presence on the webs that show this inheritance. It would be desirable to take better advantage of the knowledge in information processing of these institutions and a system is proposed that would allow an improvement of the conditions of cultural and scientific heritage with the support of a large part of the university community and with a relevant role of libraries and files

The article aims to call for reflection and action on the potential of the documentary heritage of educational institutions. It describes the work of survey and enhancement of school archives that we developed from an Extension team of the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata in connection with different educational institutions in the city. It reports on three interventions that were carried out since 2014 from the perspective of safeguarding the cultural and documentary heritage of schools, prioritizing the conservation of the materiality of the documents so that they can be used as sources of research, as a safeguard of the institutional memory of the establishment and as a guarantee in the exercise of citizens' rights.

The article sets out the results of the research “Characterization of graduates of Archival Science, Library Science, and Information Science in Colombia: 2013-2018” based on the recognition of the professional in the labor field and the correspondence between training and needs of the environment; key elements for the evaluation and decision-making in the curricular processes and the design of policies that strengthen the relationship with the working environment. The results of this research made it possible to identify current needs and challenges to qualify professional training processes, to consolidate the relevance of academic programs, and to strengthen the impact of graduates in the labor field. It is highlighted how the results of previous studies persist or are valid: High employability and low mobility; university libraries and state administrative archives as the main employer; the education and services sectors as the main sources of employment, with a defined term contract employment relationship as the predominant contractual modality and with remuneration of between 2 and 3 current legal monthly minimum wages. These results are in medium tune with current training content, especially from the perspective of fundamental knowledge, and in low tune with emerging areas such as electronic documentation, blockchain, data analytics, open science, big data, and business intelligence. All this is framed in Revolution 4.0 and in the problems that these professionals must face in correspondence with other problems in the field of information and knowledge, such as fake news, the phenomenon of disinformation, and the manipulation of the information on social networks.
