This retrospective study rigorously compares the clinical efficacy of three surgical methodologies for treating gynecomastia while providing guidance for future surgical modality selection. We analyzed records of 77 gynecomastia patients treated between January 2015 and October 2022. Patients were categorized into three groups: Group A (subcutaneous gland resection via areola incision), Group B (liposuction combined with single‐hole endoscopic gland resection), and Group C (liposuction combined with three‐hole endoscopic gland resection). Parameters assessed included patient demographics, intraoperative bleeding, surgical duration, hospitalization duration, costs, postoperative drainage, complications, and patient satisfaction. Group A had significantly shorter operation time and lower cost than Groups B and C (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in postoperative drainage (P > 0.05). Group A had a higher incidence of subcutaneous fluid complications. All groups achieved 100% overall postoperative efficiency. Group B demonstrated superior outcomes for scarring and patient satisfaction. All three surgical modalities effectively treat gynecomastia. Circumareolar incision subcutaneous gland resection is optimal for mild to moderate cases due to reduced operation time and cost. Liposuction with single‐hole endoscopic gland resection and three‐hole endoscopic gland resection offers fewer complications and discreet incisions. Notably, the liposuction and single‐hole endoscopic approach yielded superior postoperative patient satisfaction, aligning with minimally invasive principles and warranting broad clinical application. The escalating frequency and severity of extreme climate greatly impact the carbon dynamics of terrestrial ecosystems worldwide. To understand the multi-temporal response of net ecosystem productivity (NEP) to extreme climate, we investigated 11 temperature and precipitation extreme indices across different vegetation types in China. From 1981 to 2019, the results showed that NEP in China increased at a rate of 0.64 g·m−2·a−2. Extreme climate demonstrated a significant warming trend and a non-significant moistening trend; specifically, maximum daily minimum temperature (TNx) exhibited a significant increase at a rate of 0.34 °C/10 a, while maximum 5-day precipitation (Rx5day) showed an insignificant increase at a rate of 1.78 mm/10 a. NEP was significantly impacted by extreme temperature at the annual, seasonal, and monthly scales, but moderately impacted by extreme precipitation. Specifically, extreme temperature had the most significant effect on grassland, with minimal influence on cropland. In contrast, extreme precipitation had the most significant effect on forest, with minimal impact on cropland. Moreover, the lagged time for extreme precipitation was longer than that for extreme temperature. Extreme precipitation exhibited a corresponding lagged time of at least 2 months (p < 0.01), while extreme temperature exhibited a lagged time of at least 1 month (p < 0.01). The maximum lag time observed was 4 months (p < 0.01). To reduce poverty, it is important to obtain accurate information on poverty conditions in a timely manner. Previous studies indicated that nighttime light products are helpful for poverty estimation. However, there exist no studies that have investigated the potential of LuoJia1-01, a new-generation nighttime light satellite with a much finer resolution (∼130 m), for analyzing poverty. In addition, nighttime light data may not reflect daytime-only socio-economic activities. To address these problems, our study first compared the performance of LuoJia1-01 and NPP-VIIRS products in poverty estimation. Next, we incorporated point of interest (POI) information so that daytime-only socio-economic activities can be considered. Our experiments indicated that LuoJia1-01 performs slightly better than NPP-VIIRS in terms of poverty estimation at county level. More importantly, we revealed that the combination of POIs and nighttime light products can moderately increase the average estimation accuracies. Background: The current international consensus report indicated that all Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-positive patients should be treated. This study aimed to evaluate the long-term effects and benefits of H. pylori eradication on the gastric mucosa in the elderly population. Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study with 311 individuals aged ≥60 years, including 83 with persistent H. pylori infection (persistent group), 128 with successful H. pylori eradication (eradicated group), and 100 without H. pylori infection (control group). The results of endoscopy and mucosal histology were investigated at baseline and followed up for 5 and 10 years. Results: In the 5 to 10-year follow-up, there was a significant difference in the atrophy score among the three groups (P < 0.001); however, no significant difference was observed in the intestinal metaplasia (IM) score (P > 0.05). There was no significant difference in the cumulative incidence of gastric neoplastic lesion (GNL) between the eradicated and persistent groups during the 5 to 10-year follow-up period (P > 0.05). The baseline IM score of patients with GNL was significantly higher than that of those without GNL in the eradicated and control groups (P < 0.05). In all patients with GNL, the mean interval time between baseline and diagnosis of GLN was more than 6 years. The severity of baseline mucosal IM (odds ratio: OR 3.092, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.690–5.655, P < 0.001) and H. pylori infection (OR: 2.413, 95%CI: 1.019–5.712, P = 0.045) significantly increased the risk for GNL. Conclusions: Older patients with a life expectancy of less than 5 to 10 years, especially those with moderate to severe gastric mucosal IM, may not benefit from the eradication of H. pylori to prevent gastric cancer. Abstract Backgrounds Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become the most common chronic liver disease in Asians. However, data on prevalence and factors associated with NAFLD in Asians are lacking. The aim of this study is to investigate the prevalence of NAFLD in Shanghai employees to assess the relationship between NAFLD and age, gender, metabolic risk factors in this studied population. Methods We selected 7152 employees of Shanghai work-units. Each of them underwent detailed medical history-taking, physical examination, laboratory assessments and abdominal ultrasonography. The diagnosis of NAFLD was done according to established criteria. Receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves were applied to detect areas under the ROC curves for each index. Nominal logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the odds ratio for risk factors of NAFLD. Results About 38.17% employees had NAFLD, more in men than in women. The prevalence of NAFLD increased with increasing age. In both genders, the prevalence of metabolic factors was higher in the NAFLD group. Body max index, waist circumference, weight-to-height ratio, blood pressure, blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein, high density lipoprotein and uric acid were found to have a diagnostic value for NAFLD. Body max index is a better index for diagnosing NAFLD. Uric acid is a new diagnosing index not inferior to lipid metabolic factors. Metabolic factors can increase the risk of NAFLD up to 1.5 ~ 3.8 times. Conclusions Older age, male gender, metabolic factors such as obesity, abdominal obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension or type 2 diabetes are risk factors for NAFLD. Prevalence of NAFLD in Shanghai employees is high. Prevention is extremely important. Those achieve the critical point should have early intervention.

Using inverse aqua regia-hydrofluoric acid as solvent, the determination of Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd in ion-absorbing type rare earth slag by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry and microwave dissolve was established. The results show that detection limit and low limit of the method are 2. 1 - 3.9 ng/mL and 7. 0 -13. 0 ng/mL. The relative standard deviation (RSD) is 0.23% - 2. 52%. The analysis result for the national standard substance GBW07307 is in line with standard value. The relative error is 1. 68%-1.90%, and the recovery rate is 88. 46% -102. 50%. The method is fast, stable, accurate, reliable and suitable for determining heavy metal ions in ion-absorbing type rare earth slag. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
