Bu çalışmada, yazarın doktora tez sürecinden yola çıkarak araştırmacının konumu ve yaklaşımı üzerine bir tartışma yürütülecektir. Bu kapsamda araştırma yönteminden ve saha sürecinden bahsedilecektir. Tezin konusu yaşlıların eş kaybı deneyimleri ve değişen sosyal destek ilişkileridir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden temellendirilmiş kuram ile yürütülen çalışmada kesişimsellik, yaşam seyri ve kümülatif avantaj/dezavantaj (KAD) perspektiflerinden faydalanılmıştır. Yaşam seyri perspektifi, yaşlılık dönemiyle yaşamın erken dönemlerini ilişkilendirerek ele almayı; KAD ise erken dönemde karşılaşılan eşitsizliklerin veya fırsatların yaşlılığa birikimsel bir etkiyle nasıl taşındığı üzerinde düşünmeyi sağlamıştır. Kesişimsellik perspektifi, katılımcıların karşılaştığı eşitsizlikleri değerlendirirken cinsiyet, yaş, sosyo-ekonomik durum, medeni durum, eğitim ve sağlık durumu gibi farklı özelliklerin eş zamanlı olarak nasıl etkili olduğunu anlama ve aktarabilme noktasında imkânlar sunmuştur. Ayrıca bu perspektiflerin birlikte kullanılmasıyla literatür ile veri toplama ve değerlendirme süreci arasındaki bağın korunması, araştırma açısından literatürdeki birikim ile pratiğin etkileşimini zenginleştirirken; araştırmacı açısından teorik hassasiyetin gelişmesine katkıda bulunarak veri toplama ve yorumlama becerilerini geliştirmiştir. Temellendirilmiş kurama uygun bir araştırma sürecinin takip edilmesi ve farklı perspektiflerden yararlanılması, süreç boyunca, araştırmacının kendi konumunu ve katılımcılarla etkileşimini farklı açılardan değerlendirmesine olanak tanımıştır. Araştırma sürecinde edinilen deneyimlerin paylaşılması ile yapılacak benzer çalışmalar için faydalı olabilecek bir tartışma yürütmek amaçlanmaktadır.

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the difficulties experienced by COPD patients, understand their needs, and provide a reference for the content of COPD patient empowerment programs.Method: In this study using phenomenological design, semi-structured individual in-depth interviews were conducted with 11 COPD patients using purposive sampling between May 2023 and July 2023. The transcribed interviews were transferred to the MAXQDA program for analysis. Thematic analysis was used to code the data and determine themes. The Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ) checklist was used as a guide to ensure the quality of the study.Results: As a result of the analysis, five themes emerged regarding the challenges experienced in COPD: Perception of disease, difficulty in disease management, losses in lifestyle, emotional burden of the disease, need for information.Conclusions: It is thought that the interventions to be implemented to strengthen COPD patients can increase their effectiveness by creating them within the scope of the themes obtained in this study.

Amaç: Dünya Sağlık Örgütü’nün verilerine göre son yıllarda parazitlerin sebep olduğu hastalıkların görülme sıklığı artış göstermektedir. Paraziter hastalıklar toplumun genelini ve özellikle de sağlık işkolunda çalışanların mesleki riskleri arasında önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Bu çerçevede araştırmanın amacı, sağlık elamanı yetiştiren sağlık yüksekokullarında ve sağlık meslek yüksekokullarında okuyan öğrencilerin, yaygın olarak görülen paraziter hastalıklar ile ilgili tanılama, bulaş yolları, korunma yolları hakkında farkındalıklarının ve bilgi düzeylerinin değerlendirilmesidir. Yöntem: Söz konusu amaca ulaşabilmek için elde edilen verilerin çözümlemesinde MAXQDA 2020 (20.4.0) programı ile içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırma sonucunda, hemşirelik ve tıbbi laboratuvar bölüm öğrencilerinin paraziter hastalıklar ve bulaş yollarına ilişkin ifade etmiş oldukları ortak noktalar; ekonomik etmenler, hijyen bilgisi, el yıkama sıklığı, alt yapı olanakları, çevresel etmenler ve ortak eşya kullanımı iken en yaygın karşılaştıkları paraziter hastalığın ise bit olduğunu ifade etmişlerdir. Tıbbi laboratuvar öğrencileri hemşirelik öğrencilerinden farklı olarak kıl kurdunun paraziter hastalık olduğunu, paraziter hastalıklardan korunmaya yönelik sebze ve meyvelerin yıkanması gerektiğini ayrıca paraziter hastalıkların fekal-oral ve solunum yoluyla da bulaştığını ifade etmişlerdir.Sonuç: Genel olarak; gelecekte sağlık personeli olarak topluma hizmet sunmaya aday öğrencilerin yaklaşık üçte birinin paraziter hastalıklar hakkında yeterli bilgiye sahip oldukları gözlemlenmiştir. Bu konuda, ilerleyen sınıflarda meslek derslerine ek olarak temel derslere de yer verilmesi öğrencilerin temel bilgilerini canlı tutmak ve duyarlılıklarını artırmak açısından önemlidir.

ÖZ: Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, karma yöntem araştırma tasarımını kullanarak sosyoloji alanında hazırlanmış doktora tezleri üzerinde uygulama ve teknikleri açısından bir değerlendirme yapmaktır. Son yıllarda bilimsel araştırmalarda nitel ve nicel yöntemlerin yanı sıra karma yöntemlerin kullanımı da artış göstermiştir. Karma yöntemler, nitel ve nicel araştırma yaklaşımlarını bir araya getirerek sundukları çeşitli avantajlar nedeniyle giderek daha fazla tercih edilmektedir. Ancak, henüz diğer yöntemler kadar yaygın olarak kullanılmıyor olması ve kesin standartlara sahip olmaması nedeniyle, karma yöntemlerin uygulanmasında çeşitli farklılıklar ortaya çıkabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, amaca uygun olarak örneklem oluşturmak için sosyoloji alanından karma yöntem kullanmış on doktora tezi, nitel araştırma tekniklerinden içerik analizi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Böylelikle, sosyoloji alanında karma araştırma yöntemlerinin nasıl uygulandığına yönelik bir değerlendirme yapılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar, karma araştırma yöntemlerinin uygulanmasında henüz geniş bir birliktelik sağlanmadığını göstermektedir. Bunun sebeplerinden biri, karma yöntemin sosyal bilimlerde henüz yaygınlaşmaya başlaması ve nitel ve nicel araştırma yöntemlerinin birlikte kullanılmasının, bir çalışmayı karma yöntem olarak sınıflandırmak için yeterli olarak görülmesidir. ABSTRACT: The main purpose of this study is to make an evaluation of doctoral dissertations in the field of sociology using mixed methods research design in terms of its application and techniques. In recent years, the use of mixed methods as well as qualitative and quantitative methods in scientific research has increased. Mixed methods are increasingly preferred because of the various advantages they offer by combining qualitative and quantitative research approaches. However, because mixed methods are not yet as widely used as other methods and do not have precise standards, there may be various differences in the application of mixed methods. In this study, ten doctoral dissertations in the field of sociology that used mixed methods were evaluated using content analysis, one of the qualitative research techniques, to create a purposeful sample. In this way, an assessment was made of the use of mixed methods in the field of sociology. The results obtained show that there is not yet a broad unity in the application of mixed research methods. One of the reasons for this is that the mixed method has just started to become widespread in the social sciences, and the use of qualitative and quantitative research methods together is considered sufficient to classify a study as a mixed method.

Objective: To explain the perceptions of the operating room staff about pressure ulcers through metaphors. Methods: A descriptive qualitative research design was used. In the study, it was aimed to reach the entire universe, not choosing a sample. A total of 83 operating room staff participated in the study which 45 of them were operating room nurses, 38 of them were anesthesia technicians. The data were collected face to face with the descriptive features form and semi-structured interview form created by the researchers. In the semi-structured interview form, the operating room workers were asked to complete the sentence “Pressure ulcer is like ... because ...”. The data were analyzed with the "content analysis" method, which is one of the qualitative analysis methods.Results: Operating room staff generated a total of 25 types of metaphors for the concept of pressure ulcers and expressed 83 opinions for them. The first five most mentioned metaphors by the operating room staff were icebergs, matryoshka, storm after a sunny day, swamp, garden care and cracked vase, respectively. 19 of these metaphors were repeated nine to two times, and six of them were repeated once.Conclusion: Metaphors can be used as a powerful research tool in understanding and revealing the cognitive images of operating room staff regarding the concept of pressure ulcers. This study gives clues about how operating room staff imagine the concept of pressure ulcer.

Official documents on education and training are important documents that give clues about the kind of people that states all over the world wish to raise. When these documents are sufficiently analyzed, it is possible to trace the characteristics with which a society will be equipped in the short, medium, and long term. An in-depth analysis of the frequently changing educational documents in Türkiye would provide important data to predict what kind of future awaits the country. From this point of view, this article discusses what the Secondary EducationCurriculum for the Course of Religious Culture and Knowledge of Ethics (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Grades) The Century of Türkiye Education Model, which was shared with the public in 2024, promises in terms of individual and society-centred ideological elements. In this context, the main problem of the article is “What approach does the Secondary Education Curriculum for the Course of Religious Culture and Knowledge of Ethics (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Grades) The Century of Türkiye Education Model has in terms of individual and society-centred ideological elements?”. In line with the main problem of the research, it is aimed to reveal the approach of the Curriculum in terms of individual and society-centred ideological elements. Numerous non-governmental organizations have published reports on the Curriculum so far. Also, there have been on the Curriculum numerous opinions and assessments in the media. However, since it has been published recently, it is difficult to say that there are enough academic studies on the Curriculum in the literature yet. Considering this situation, it is possible to say that this article has high potential to contribute to the literature. In the research, the qualitative research method was used to find answers to the main problem. Since it is in question to reveal the current situation of the Curriculum in terms of individual and society-centred ideological elements, the case study design, one of the qualitative research designs, was preferred. In this context, the Curriculum, which constitutes the study unit of the research, was analyzed by document analysis technique. During the analysis of the Curriculum, the checklist prepared by the researchers was used, and the data were subjected to content analysis. The findings obtained as a result of the analysis were evaluated under six themes: identity, authority, freedom, justice-equality, self-actualization, epistemic approach, and critical thinking. As a result of the research, it was determined that the Curriculum has contents that lead to both individual and society-centred ideological elements in the context of identity, authority, freedom, justice-equality, self-realization, epistemic approach, and critical thinking themes. However, it was observed that the intensity of individual and society-centred ideological elements on the basis of themes was different. In this regard, it was observed that society-centred ideological elements were more dominant in the themes of identity and authority; individual-centred ideological elements were more dominant in the themes of freedom, justice-equality, self-realization, epistemic approach, and critical thinking. At the same time, it was concluded that differentiation came to the forefront within the scope of individual-centred ideological elements based on themes. The state has an approach that prioritize society in the context of society-centred ideological elements, and individual and social needs are sometimes ignored. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı gebe okulu programlarında eğitimci olarak görev alan ebe ve hemşirelerin endokrin bozucular konusundaki bilgi ve tutumlarını incelemektir.Yöntem: Fenomenolojik tipte tasarlanan araştırmanın evreni, İstanbul ilindeki gebe okulu programlarında eğitimci olarak görev yapan 44 ebe/hemşireden oluşmuştur (N=44). Ölçüt örnekleme yöntemi kullanılarak örneklem veri doygunluğu takip edilmiş ve doygunluk sağlandığında veri toplama işlemi tamamlanmıştır (n=7). 13 Eylül 2021 tarihinde yapılan araştırmada, veriler odak grup yöntemi ile araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formuyla toplanmıştır. Nicel veriler, tanımlayıcı istatistiksel analizler kullanılarak, nitel veriler ise içerik analiziyle değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular: Ebe ve hemşirelerin görüşme formuna verdikleri cevaplar doğrultusunda; endokrin bozucuların önemi, endokrin bozucular bilgisi, endokrin bozucular farkındalığı oluşturma ve gebe eğitimine entegrasyon şeklinde dört adet tema oluşturulmuştur. Prenatal dönem eğiticilerinin endokrin bozucuların öneminin farkında olmalarına rağmen konu hakkındaki bilgilerinin yetersiz olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca katılımcıların konunun prenatal eğitimlerde yer alması ve farkındalık geliştirilebilmesi için çeşitli önerilerinin bulunduğu saptanmıştır. Sonuç: Ebe ve hemşirelerin endokrin bozuculara yönelik çok fazla bilgilerinin olmadığı hatta kısmen yanlış bilgilere sahip oldukları görülmüştür. Eğitici eğitimlerinin içeriğine endokrin bozucularla ilgili konuların eklenerek bilinçlendirme çalışmalarının arttırılması gerektiği sonucuna varılmıştır.

Amaç: Bu çalışma vajinal doğum yapan kadınların doğum deneyimlerini etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Yöntemler: Bu araştırma tanımlayıcı fenomenolojik tasarımdadır. Çalışma Ocak - Haziran 2023 tarihleri arasında vajinal doğum yapan 17 kadın ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma verileri yarı yapılandırılmış form kullanılarak yapılan derinlemesine bireysel görüşmeler yoluyla toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde tematik analiz kullanılmıştır.Bulgular: Verilerin analizi sonucunda; “Normal doğum algısını etkileyen faktörler” ve “Olumlu doğum deneyimleri; Güvenilir ve destekleyici bakım” temaları belirlenmiştir. “Normal doğum algısını etkileyen faktörler” teması “Daha önceki doğum deneyimleri”, “Doğum anında yaşanan sorunlar” ve “Sağlık profesyonelleriyle iletişim” alt temalarından; “Olumlu doğum deneyimleri; Güvenilir ve destekleyici bakım” teması “Saygı ve önemsenme”, “Yalnız olmadığını hissetme”, “Güler yüzlü, içten yaklaşım” ve “Cesaret verme” alt temalarından oluşmuştur.Sonuç: Daha önceki doğum deneyimlerinin, doğumda yapılan müdahalelerin, destekleyici bakım ve iletişim şeklinin kadınların doğum deneyimleri üzerinde etkili olduğu belirlenmiştir.

In qualitative research, data saturation is important for the trustworthiness of the research and justification of the sample. Vigilance in observing data saturation is crucial in the qualitative research process, and the report should transparently articulate the specific stage at which saturation is reached. This study endeavors to provide a guide for researchers employing qualitative research methods and techniques on how to justify data saturation and the key considerations in terms of data saturation. The study, which is designed as a review, offers insights into data saturation, encompassing its various types and factors that influence its attainment. This study underscores the absence of a clear formula for achieving and determining saturation in qualitative research, emphasizing the intrinsic connection of data saturation to processes spanning from research design to analysis. The concept of "healing" is defined as a restorative/transformative recovery process that results in a positive change in the management practices of organizations, employees finding more meaning in the work they do, and the realization of themselves as a whole by organizational employees at all levels, has gained popularity in recent years. attracts the attention of researchers. In this study, qualitative field research is conducted to find out the healing organization practices of the companies. Structured interviews are conducted with 12 white color employees. Three questions that are asked to the participants aimed to be the research question of this study. Participants were asked what organizational practices contribute to their physical, financial, social, psychological, intellectual, and professional well-being and what contributions these practices have for the employee and the organization. As a result of the content analysis of the collected data, healing organizational practices were compiled under two themes. Organizational practices that contribute to personal development and occupational development. It has been found that organizational practices that support personal and professional development have positive contributions such as employees' organizational citizenship behaviors, organizational commitment, work/ life satisfaction, and sense of meaningfulness about work. Since this study is the first qualitative research on "healing organizations" in the national literature, it is believed that the results of the research will guide both researchers working on the topic and managers who have a decisive role in worklife. In the late 1960s, as an alternative to quantitative geography, an interest in qualitative methods arose among geographers in understanding human-space relationships and experiences. In recent years, the interest of human geographers in qualitative methods has increased more than ever, both to better understand the behavior of individuals or societies and to look at events holistically. In this study, the importance of qualitative research method in the geography discipline is discussed. Nowadays, it is seen that human geographers generally use qualitative methods to understand the interaction of individuals with space and their experiences in space. By using qualitative methods, geographers can explain their work with a stronger interpretation. One of the aims of the study is to discuss how qualitative research, which has become increasingly effective in the field of social sciences in the last 50 years, is positioned within human geography. In addition, the theoretical and methodological contributions of qualitative research to human geography are mentioned. The results of the study show that qualitative research has become more visible than ever in human geography and that this method offers significant contributions to the science of geography. Repentance is a concept that expresses a person’s regret towards his bad behavior, turning to God and correcting themselves. In other words, it means giving up one's sins with a firm determination and making an effort to exhibit righteous behavior. Repentance includes features such as regret, sincerity, awareness, determination to give up wrong behavior, and the continuity of good action at both cognitive and behavioral levels. Religious belief, religious feelings and thoughts, love and fear of Allah, expectations and concerns about death and the afterlife, and the accumulation of spiritual states under the influence of conscientious feelings and thoughts play a role in the process of repentance to a certain extent. The tendency towards repentance may occur suddenly or after long-term emotional experiences and inner experiences. In this respect, it can be said that the time of repentance is related to the person's awareness that he has committed a sin. In repentance, there is a mutual turning between Allah and the individual. While a person's giving up his sin and turning to Allah constitutes the individual aspect of repentance, Allah's acceptance of the repentance of his servant who turns to him constitutes the divine aspect of repentance. Based on the sincere regret felt after sin and the intention and effort to display good behavior after repentance, it can be said that repentance has a constructive and structuring contribution in human-to-human and human-to-God relations. Therefore, it is very important for every age group to understand the nature of the effect of repentance. Although there are studies examining the concept of repentance in the literature, no study has been found using metaphors on how this concept is perceived by university students and what are the underlying meanings of this perception. Therefore, it is thought that this study will contribute to this gap in the literature and be a guide for researchers. The main purpose of the research is to reveal university students' perceptions of the concept of repentance through metaphors. The study group of the research consists of a total of 174 students who are studying in various faculties of Bursa Uludağ University and Bursa Technical University during the fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. Of the participants in the research, 113 (%57,7) are female and 83 (%42,3) are male. In this study, the metaphor technique based on the phenomenology pattern, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. A semi-structured form was preferred as the information collection method. Data was collected via Google Forms. The questionnaire form used in the research consists of two parts. In the first part, there was a 4-item personal information form that included questions of age, gender, faculty type and grade level and purposing to reveal the demographic characteristics of the students. In the second part, there was a question asking the students participating in the research to produce metaphors in order to reveal their perceptions of the concept of repentance. In the research, participants were asked the question, "If you were to compare repentance to an image, what would it be like?", and they were requested to fill in the blanks to complete in the sentence, "Repentance is similar to... (metaphor), because....(metaphor reason)...". MAXQDA 24 program was used to analyze the data obtained, and a content analysis technique was utilized. At the end of the research, it was seen that 70 different metaphors were generated by 196 university students. In the research, two themes related to the metaphors produced regarding the concept of repentance were identified: The themes were religious function of repentance and the psychological function of repentance. For the theme of the religious function of repentance (%60,2), three codes were identified: Path to spiritual purification, encounter with the sacred, and stability to good behavior. What is meant by the metaphors collected under these codes is that repentance is seen both as a way for the person to purify his sins and as a tool for meeting the sacred, and that it provides a function to direct the person to correct behavior by drawing a line against the continuation of the sins committed. For the theme of the psychological function of repentance (%39,8), three codes were also identified. These codes were; psychological relief, a new beginning, and confrontation with oneself. It was observed that the participants who produced the metaphors listed under these codes saw repentance as a new opening, expansion and freedom area, and evaluated it as a healing and developing situation. It was expressed that repentance is an effective experience in controlling emotional and psychological stress sources. In addition, it was determined that the metaphors were concentrated in the codes of the path of spiritual purification, confrontation with oneself and a new beginning. The metaphor of “water” was the most repeated metaphor by 31 participants. After the “water” metaphor, purification (f=12), eraser (f=12), regret (f=11), apology (f=10), cleaning (f=10) and return (f=10) were the most repeated words. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
