Abstract. Background. Generic drugs are bioequivalent to their brand-name counterparts; however, concerns still exist regarding the effectiveness and safety of generic drugs because of small sample sizes and short follow-up time in most studies. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term antihypertensive efficacy, cost-effectiveness and cardiovascular outcomes of generic drugs compared with brand-name drugs. Methods. In a multicenter, community-based study including 7955 hypertensive patients who were prospectively followed up for an average of 2.5 years, we used the propensity-score-matching method to match the patients using brand-name drugs to those using generic drugs in a ratio of 1:2, 2176 patients using brand-name drugs and 4352 patients using generic drugs. Results. There were no significant differences between generic drugs and brand-name drugs in blood pressure (BP)-lowering efficacy, BP control rate, and cardiovascular outcomes including coronary heart disease and stroke. The adjusted mean (95% confidence interval [CI]) of systolic BP (SBP)-lowering was –7.9 mmHg (95% CI, –9.9 to –5.9) in the brand-name drug group and –7.1 mmHg (95% CI, –9.1 to –5.1) in the generic drug group after adjusting for age, sex, body mass index, number of antihypertensive drugs and traditionally cardiovascular risk factors. The cooling control of the melt during the casting process is of great significance. A comprehensive closed-loop cooling control of castings by adopting a skeletal sand mold design was proposed. The skeletal sand mold consisting of an adaptive shell, functional cavities and a support was designed and created based on the finite difference meshes of a casting. It was applied to a round wall test casting. Two kinds of skeletal sand molds, one with lattice support and the other with enforcing ribs for this casting were designed and printed out by the 3D printing (3DP) method. Aluminum alloy A356 was cast by using these two sand molds. The first mold was cooled by natural convection, the other one by water spray cooling. Two sound castings were obtained. The sand mold temperature, cooling curves, microstructures, mechanical properties, residual stress and deformation were measured, compared and discussed. Water spray cooling hastened the cooling rate by 62%, increased the content of Mg and Cu in the α-Al matrix, improved the mechanical properties, and altered the surface residual stress state.

As a fundamental component of heatmap-based human pose estimation methods, heatmap decoding is to transform heatmaps into joint coordinates. We found that previous heatmap decoding methods generally ignored the effect of systematic errors introduced by the resolution increaseing operations in the network decoder. This work fills the gap by taking the systematic errors in heatmap decoding into consideration. We proposed a fast method to reduces the systematic and random errors in one shot by error compensation. The proposed method outperforms the previous best method on the COCO and the MPII datasets while being over 2 times faster. Extensive experiments with different networks, resolutions, metrics and datasets have proved the rationality of the proposed idea.

RAD51 and DMC1 recombinases catalyse high-fidelity and mismatch tolerant recombination, processes that are indispensable for the maintenance of genomic integrity. Here, the authors via cryo-EM, molecular dynamics simulation and functional analysis elucidate the structural difference between RAD51 and DMC1 with regard to mismatch tolerance.

Two-dimensional lateral heterostructures exhibit novel electronic and optical properties that are induced by their in-plane interface for which the mechanical properties of the interface are important for the stability of the lateral heterostructure. Therefore, we performed molecular dynamics simulations and developed a convolutional neural network-based machine learning model to study the fracture properties of the interface in a graphene/hexagonal boron nitride lateral heterostructure. The molecular dynamics (MD) simulations show that the shape of the interface can cause an 80% difference in the fracture stress and the fracture strain for the interface. By using 11 500 training samples obtained with help of high-cost MD simulation, the machine learning model is able to search out the strongest interfaces with the largest fracture strain and fracture stress in a large sample space with over 150 000 structures. By analyzing the atomic configuration of these strongest interfaces, we disclose two major factors dominating the interface strength, including the interface roughness and the strength of the chemical bond across the interface. We also explore the correlation between the fracture properties and the thermal conductivity for these lateral heterostructures by examining the bond type and the shape of the graphene/hexagonal boron nitride interface. We find that interfaces comprised of stronger bonds and smoother zigzag interfaces can relieve the abrupt change of the acoustic velocity, leading to the enhancement of the interface thermal conductivity. This paper focuses on the triaxial augmentation ability of the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) technique on the tailless layout with a fully moving wing tip to achieve high control performance for the supersonic tailless aircraft. Firstly, the stability characteristics and controllability of the flying wing layout are analyzed to determine the coupling characteristics of this kind of aircraft. Secondly, an attitude controller is designed based on ADRC theory, and the linear ADRC frequency domain analysis method is introduced to analyze the influence of the bandwidth of linear extended stator on the control system. In addition, the tuning process of the attitude control law is given. Carrier dropping simulations of flight missions under nominal condition, model parameter perturbation, and wind disturbance are conducted. The results show that the designed controller can achieve full-speed domain triaxial augmentation of supersonic flying wing. This work has the potential to significantly boost the engineering acceptability and robustness of supersonic aircraft control design in real-world scenarios. The presented cascaded ADRC approach can significantly improve the performance and robustness of supersonic vehicles.

This paper proposes a hybrid evaluation method to assess the prediction models for airport passenger throughput (APT). By analyzing two hundred three airports in China, five types of models are evaluated to study the applicability to different airports with various airport passenger throughput and developing conditions. The models were fitted using the historical data before 2014 and were verified by using the data from 2015–2019. The evaluating results show that the models employed for evaluating perform well in general except that there are insufficient historical data for modelling, or the APT of the airports changes abruptly owing to expansion, relocation or other kinds of external forces such as earthquakes. The more the APT of an airport is, the more suitable the models are for the airport. Particularly, there is no direct relation between the complexity and the predicting accuracy of the models. If the parameters of the models are properly set, time series models, causal models, market share methods and analogy-based methods can be utilized to predict the APT of 88% of studied airports effectively.

Background and Objectives: At present, the management of comminuted distal femur fractures remains challenging for orthopedic surgeons. The aim of this study is to report a surgical treatment for comminuted distal femur fractures using supplementary medial cortical bone plate allografts in conjunction with the lateral less invasive stabilization system (LISS) plates. Materials and Methods: From January 2009 to January 2014, the records of thirty-three patients who underwent supplementary medial cortical bone plate allografts combined with lateral LISS plates fixation were reviewed. Clinical and radiographic data were collected during regular postoperative follow-up visits. Functional outcomes were determined according to the special surgery knee rating scale (HSS) used at the hospital. Results: Thirty patients were followed for 13 to 73 months after surgery, with an average follow-up time of 31.3 months. The mean time to bone union was 5.4 months (range of 3–12 months) and the mean range of knee flexion was 105.6° (range of 80–130°). Of the remaining patients, 10 had a score of “Excellent”, while 10 had a score of “Good”. Three patients had superficial or deep infections, one patient had nonunion that required bone grafting, and one patient had post-traumatic knee arthritis. Conclusions: Based on these promising results, we propose that supplementary medial cortical bone plate allografts combined with lateral LISS plate fixation may be a good treatment option for comminuted distal femur fractures. This treatment choice not only resulted in markedly improved stability on the medial side of the femur, but also satisfactory outcomes for distal femoral fractures.

Environmental magnetism parameters have become a useful tool in addressing environmental issues. Due to the rapid, sensitive, economical and non-destructive characteristics of environmental magnetism, the present contribution focuses on magnetism parameters as proxy for heavy metal pollution, especially from their relationship with contents of heavy metal. We evaluated heavy metals pollution and examined environmental magnetism in the Dexing section of the Le’an River. The pollution load index (PLI) of Cr, Pb, As, Cu and Zn, as well as the concentration of other heavy metals, were analyzed, and the magnetic indexes of various sediments were analyzed. The results showed that the concentrations of all heavy metals far exceeded the local background values, and that the average contamination factor of Cu was as high as 22.88, making it the element of most serious contamination. The problem of heavy metal pollution near the mine is very serious. The content of magnetic minerals in sediments of Le’an River is relatively high and the composition of magnetic minerals is relatively stable. The stable-single domin (SSD) content is high at S1 and S10, indicating that ferromagnetic mineral content is relatively rich here, which dominates the magnetic characteristics of the sample. In general, it was found that environmental magnetism indicators did not exist in the Dexing section of the Le’an River that could clearly indicate the concentration of heavy metal pollution. Only a few heavy metals can be effectively indicated by magnetic parameters. IRM-20mT and S-ratio can be used as indicators of Cr, Pb, As, Cu and Zn, but they are not accurate. The correlation between Sr and magnetic indexes IRM200mT, IRM300mT, SIRM, IRM-300mT and HIRM is significant, which can be used as an indicator of Sr concentration. IRM20mT can also be used as an indicator of Hg concentration.

Supercritical lens can create a sub-diffraction-limited focal spot in the far field, providing a promising route for the realization of label-free super-resolution imaging through the point scanning mechanism. However, all of the reported supercritical lenses have circular shape configurations, and produce isotropic sub-diffraction-limited focal spots in the focal plane. Here, we propose and experientially demonstrate a sub-diffraction transverse optical needle by using an elliptical supercritical lens. Through breaking the circular symmetry and introducing ellipticity to the lens, a uniform sub-diffractive transverse optical needle with lateral length and width of 6λ/NA and 0.45λ/NA, respectively, was successfully created in the focal plane. Further, elliptical sector-shape cutting with an optimized apex angle of 60 degrees can lead to suppressed subsidiary focusing for improved uniformity and condensed field intensity of the transverse optical needle. The demonstration of sub-diffractive transverse optical needle with a high aspect ratio (length to width ratio) of 13:1 may find potential applications in line-scanning microscopy for video-rate label-free super-resolution imaging, and also enable advances in the fields from laser manufacturing to optical manipulation.

The ultrasonic transmission detection method is used to investigate the applicability for the second-harmonic generation (SHG) technology of longitudinal wave to quantitatively assess carbonated concrete. The principal of this method is to use the piezoelectric lead zirconate titanate (PZT) patch to detect the second-harmonic of longitudinal waves during the concrete carbonation process and extract non-linear parameters from observed signals. Non-linear parameters of concretes with two water–cement ratios (CI (w/c=0.47), CII (w/c=0.53)), two moisture contents (CI 0%, CI-W 100%), and three ultrasonic incident frequencies (50 kHz, 75 kHz, 100 kHz) were measured in this study. Results of the experiment demonstrate that non-linear ultrasonic parameters of longitudinal ultrasonic waves with high frequencies (75 kHz, 100 kHz) exhibit a better resolution regarding changes in concrete microstructure. Moisture (CI 0%, CI-W 100%) has little effect on the rate (CI: 62.73%, CI-W: 60.25, carbonation depth: 15 mm) for the change in relative non-linear parameters in the same concrete. The carbonation depth of concrete (CI (w/c=0.47), CI-W (w/c=0.47), CII (w/c=0.53)) can be well reflected by the change in relative non-linear parameters. Furthermore, there exists a good fit between the relative non-linear parameters of longitudinal waves and the concrete carbonation process. The relative non-linear parameters of longitudinal waves demonstrate feasibility in the quantitative assessment of concrete carbonation.

In order to explore the monitoring technique of concrete carbonation in various temperatures, longitudinal ultrasonic nonlinear parameters of carbonated concrete are measured by using an embedded composite piezoelectric transducer (ECPT) and a surface-mounted transducer. The effect of temperature from −20 ∘C to 40 ∘C with a temperature interval of 5 ∘C and water–cement ratio on the measurements of ultrasonic parameters for carbonated concrete is investigated. The ultrasonic transmission detection method and the second harmonic generation (SHG) technique for longitudinal waves are used in the study. Results of the experiment demonstrate that ECPT is effective in the monitoring of the changes in ultrasonic parameters of carbonated concrete. At the temperature ranging from 15 ∘C to 40 ∘C, the increasing temperature slightly increases the relative nonlinear parameters of carbonated concrete. It decreases significantly that the relative nonlinear parameters of carbonated concrete measured at 0 ∘C compared with that at 10 ∘C. The configuration in this measurement is also appropriate for the assessment of carbonated concrete during carbonation time in low-temperature environments (below 0 ∘C). In the same carbonation time, the relative nonlinear parameters also increase slightly when the temperature is at −20 ∘C to 0 ∘C, but it does not change too much. Furthermore, there is a more significant variation of the nonlinear parameters in the same carbonation time for the specimens with a high water–cement ratio than that with a low one.

BACKGROUND The neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has been reported as a novel predictor for atherosclerosis and cardiovascular outcomes. This study aimed to determine the effects of NLR on long-term clinical outcomes of chronic total occlusion (CTO) patients. METHODS A total of 670 patients with CTO who met the inclusion criteria were included at the end of the follow-up period. Patients were divided into tertiles according to their baseline NLR levels at admission: low (n = 223), intermediate (n = 223), and high (n = 224). The incidence of major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) during the follow-up period, including all-cause death, nonfatal myocardial infarction (MI), or ischemia-driven revascularization, were compared among the three groups. RESULTS Major adverse cardiac events were observed in 27 patients (12.1%) in the low tertile, 40 (17.9%) in the intermediate tertile, and 61 (27.2%) in the high NLR tertile (P < 0.001). Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated a significantly higher incidence of MACE, ischemia-driven coronary revascularization, non-fatal MI, and mortality in patients within the high tertile than those in the low and intermediate groups (all P < 0.001). Multivariable COX regression analysis showed that the high tertile of baseline NLR level showed a strong association with the risk of MACE (hazard ratio [HR] = 2.21; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.21–4.03; P = 0.009), ischemia-driven coronary revascularization (HR = 3.19; 95% CI: 1.56–6.52; P = 0.001), MI (HR = 2.61; 95% CI: 1.35–5.03; P = 0.043) and mortality (HR = 3.78; 95% CI: 1.65–8.77; P = 0.001). CONCLUSION Our findings suggest that NLR is an inexpensive and readily available biomarker that can independently predict cardiovascular risk in patients with CTO. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Increasing demands for livestock products have stimulated rapid increases in the number of livestock and the scale of farming, thus increasing pressure on resources and the environment. Coordinating the development of livestock production (LP) with residential consumption (RC), resources and the environmental carrying capacity (RECC) is important to ensure sustainable development. In this study, the entropy weight method and the improvedcoupling coordination degree (CCD) model were used to identify the spatial-- temporal coordination development characteristics of livestock productionresidential consumption-resource and environmental carrying capacity (LRRE). Furthermore, the spatial autocorrelation model (SAM) and gray model (GM) were used to analyze the spatial aggregation characteristics and future development trends of the CCDs of the LRRE in China. The findings show that the CCDs of the LRRE values in 31 Chinese provinces increased from 2005 to 2020, but no provinces reached a high coordination level. Specifically, the coordinated development level of LRRE is relatively high in the central, eastern and northeastern regions and relatively low in the western region. The spatial autocorrelation analysis confirmed that the high-high (H-H) aggregation areas were mainly distributed in the northeastern, eastern, and central regions, while low-high (L-H) agglomeration was distributed in the western region. This phenomenon is mainly attributed to the continuous expansion of the scale of livestock production in western China. Regions with relatively developed economies have more funds to invest in environmental protection projects. Using GM method, we find that the CCDs of LRRE in 31 provinces in China will increase from 2021 to 2030, and all provinces will reach the basic coordination level. However, most of the western regions will barely reach the basic coordination level. This result indicates that the low level of LRRE development in western China may be difficult to change in the short term. The level of coordinated LRRE development in the relatively developed eastern region is increasing. The spatial layout of China's livestock industry should be appropriately adjusted, its expansion rate in the western region should be decreased, and the ecological environment of the areas bordering the western and central regions should be improved. These findings have practical implications for other large livestock production countries. Promoting the coordinated development of LRRE is also an important condition for agricultural transformation in developing countries, especially for improving the environment in key areas of the livestock industry. Non-degradable polymers cause serious environmental pollution problem, such as the widely-used while unrecyclable coatings which significantly affect the overall degradation performance of products. It is imperative and attractive to develop biodegradable functional coatings. Herein, we proposed a novel strategy to successfully prepare biodegradable, thermoplastic and hydrophobic coatings with high transparence and biosafety by weakening the interchain interactions between cellulose chain. The natural cellulose and cinnamic acid were as raw materials. Via reducing the degree of polymerization (DP) of cellulose and regulating the degree of substitution (DS) of cinnamate moiety, the obtained cellulose cinnamate (CC) exhibited not only the thermal flow behavior but also good biodegradability, which solves the conflict between the thermoplasticity and biodegradability in cellulose-based materials. The glass transition temperature (Tg) and thermal flow temperature (Tf) of the CC could be adjusted in a range of 150-200 °C and 180-210 °C, respectively. The CC with DS < 1.2 and DP ≤ 100 degraded more than 60% after an enzyme treatment for 7 days, and degraded more than 80% after a composting treatment for 42 days. Furthermore, CC had no toxicity to human epidermal cells even at a high concentration (0.5 mg mL-1). In addition, CC could be easily fabricated into multifunctional coating with high hydrophobicity, thermal adhesion and high transparence. Therefore, after combining with cellophane and paperboard, CC coating with low DP and DS could be used to prepare fully-biodegradable heat-sealing packaging, art paper, paper cups, paper straws and food packaging boxes. To alleviate the growth inhibition, and intestinal damage of Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis) induced by low fishmeal diets (LF), an 8-week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the addition of dietary soybean-derived bioactive peptides (SBP) in LF diets on the regulation of growth, digestion and intestinal health. The crabs were fed isonitrogenous and isoenergetic conventional diet and LF diets (10 % fishmeal replaced by soybean meal, LF) supplemented with 0, 1 %, 2 %, 4 % and 6 % SBP, respectively. The results showed that LF diet inhibited growth while inclusion of SBP quadratically remitted the growth inhibition induced by LF. For digestive function, increasing addition level of SBP quadratically improved the α -amylase and trypsin activities. For antioxidant function, LF group significantly increased the malondialdehyde content, while SBP linearly decreased the malondialdehyde level and cubically increased the anti-superoxide anion activity and total antioxidant capacity level. For intestinal health, the peritrophic membrane (PM) almost completely separated from the inner wall of the intestinal lumen, the epithelial cells reduced, the muscularis became thinner and the apoptotic signals increased in LF group; with SBP addition, the intestinal morphology was improved, with the PM adhering to the inner wall of the intestinal lumen, an increase in the number of epithelial cells and an increase in the thickness of the muscularis. Additionally, there was a decrease in apoptotic signals. Dietary SBP also increased the expression of PT and Crustin1 quadratically and decreased the expression of ALF1 linearly, ALF3 and ILF2 quadratically. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Group theory is a powerful tool to explore fundamental symmetry constraints for the physical properties of crystal structures, e.g. it is well-known that only a few components of the elastic constants are independent due to the symmetry constraint. This work further applies group theory to derive constraint relationships for high-order elastic constants with respect to the orientation angle, where the constraint relationships are more explicit than the traditional tensor transformation law. These analytic symmetry constraints are adopted to explain the molecular dynamics simulation results, which disclose that the high-order elastic constants are highly anisotropic with an anisotropy percentage of up to 25% for the hexagonal boron nitride monolayer. The elastic constant is a basic quantity in the mechanics field, so its high anisotropy shall cause strong anisotropy for other mechanical properties. Based on the anisotropic high-order elastic constants, we demonstrate that Poisson's ratio is highly anisotropic for the hexagonal boron nitride at large strains. These findings provide fundamental insights into the symmetry dependence of high-order elastic constants and other mechanical properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (CHH) is a rare genetic disorder, resulting from impaired production, secretion, or action of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). Variants of the KISS1R gene can result in CHH. Herein we describe a Chinese boy with CHH, caused by a novel, compound heterozygous variant in KISS1R. A male infant presented to the pediatric urological surgeon at three months of age for micropenis. Laboratory investigations done at this time revealed low levels of serum gonadotropins and testosterone, suggesting a lack of minipuberty. Topical application of dihydrotestosterone gel was recommended, but the parents refused treatment. The child was brought to our hospital at 3.3 years of age for the same complaint. A diagnosis of CHH was considered, and next generation sequencing revealed a compound heterozygous variant including a novel c.182C>A (p.S61*) and a c.418C>T (p.R140C) in KISS1R. We describe a novel compound heterozygous variant in the KISS1R in a boy with CHH, born to non-consanguineous Chinese parents.
