This paper presents a fully innovative supply system, mixing remote (230 VAC) and local (-48 VDC) powering, where solutions based, up to now, on fully standard products were rejected because they did not meet the key requirements, and where a new system was specifically designed and it is currently being used by cable operators. The analysis and specification was carried out taking into account criteria such as modularity according to network growth, long autonomies (also modular), very high redundancy, high efficiency, optional power conditioning for industrial environments, small footprint, hot-swap, all fully controlled and monitored by a management system.
