This report deals with 4 patients who had a spinal cord injury resulting from wrestling. The cause and the results are discussed.

In this study cranial computed tomographic (CT) features of 28 cases with Chiari II malformation are presented. 26 of these cases had hydrocephalus (92.9%) and the fourth ventricle was either absent or small in 25 (89.3%) of the cases. Caudal displacement of the fourth ventricle was noted in 15 (53.6%) of the cases, and craniolacunia was present in 18 (64.3%) of the cases with seven of them being more than one-year-old (up to 18-years-old). We found CT to be a safe, non-invasive and effective method of elucidating the types of abnormalities associated with this disorder. Preoperative computed tomographic evaluation of patients with Chiari II malformation helps to differentiate it from other types of hydrocephalus, thus yielding a change in the operative approach.

For ten-years of period, between 1973-1982, 81 cases with intracranial ependymoma have been operated in H.U.T.F. Neurosurgery Department. Supratentorial localisation have been found in 24 cases (30%), and infratentorial in 57 (70%). 80% of the patients in supratentorial group and 91% in infratentorial group were under the age 20. In supratentorial group 79% were in paraventricular localisation, and 21% were intraventricular. In infratentorial group 70% of the cases were localised within the IV. ventricle, 20% in province of the tentorial roof, 5% in the lateral recessus and 5% into cerebellum. The 40 patients who were followed up were rated according to the localisation and the grades of the tumors, the type of the surgical intervention and chemotherapy with respect to the postoperative survival. As a result only the total resection of the tumor was found to be significant.

Polaroids of 9,400 consecutive unselected computed tomography (CT) scans are reviewed and 31 cases with Mega Cisterna Magna (MCM) are detected. The incidence is 0.33% (31/9,400). Clinical and radiological data relating to these 31 cases shows that none of the patients presented neither any clinical sign of a posterior fossa space occupying lesion nor any radiological image such as hydrocephalus or forward displacement of the fourth ventricle. The dimensions of the cistern ranged as follows: width between 22.2-92.5 mm, depth between 22.2-37.0 mm, height between 26.0-39.0 mm. The authors propose 20 mm as the limit value of width and depth of a normal cisterna magna and 26 mm for its maximal height, these dimensions being the most frequently encountered ones of these 31 patients. The correlation between the magnitude of the cistern (the sum of the width and depth of the cistern: w + d) and the severity of cerebral atrophy (the sum of the maximum and minimum widths of the anterior horns of the lateral ventricles which is the most reliable atrophy index defined by Hirashima: a + b) is illustrated in figure 5. The authors conclude that Mega Cisterna Magna which has a constant incidence in routine CT examinations is predominantly a consequence of cerebral atrophy and does not have any specific clinical pathological correlate and does not require any form of treatment.

Two cases of orbital echinococcus cysts studied by computed tomography are presented. Incidence of orbital hydatidosis in Turkey is reported. Computed tomographic findings of orbital hydatid cysts are reviewed and summarized. Medial displacement of the orbital plate of the ethmoid bone is emphasized as a frequent finding in the reported cases.

Primary Carcinomas of Choroid Plexus are seen rarely. In previous literature there were 37 cases which were reported according to Lewis and Russel-Rubinstein malignancy criterias. In this article, we describe 5 years old boy and 1.5 year old girl who suffered from cerebellar ataxia and intracranial pressure increase syndrome. In case 1, the tumor of the fourth ventricle was diagnosed by brachial angiography and ventriculography. In case 2, the diagnosis was established by CT scan. In case 1, the patient died during the postoperative course. In case 2, the postoperative time was unremarkable. A radiotherapy of 3 000 rads was applied to the posterior fossa. One year later, the patient had only mild ataxia.
