Kevin Eastman was born on May 30, 1962, in Portland, Maine, the son of Kim Eastman, a tool and die maker, and Sandra Eastman, a nurse. He grew up in Groville, Maine, with three sisters, Marlene, Judy, and Maryann. Eastman began drawing with crayons at an early age and was a fan of comic books from childhood. A mostly self-taught artist, although he briefly studied at the Portland School of Art, Eastman first published work in the minicomics Comix Wave and Goodies in the early 1980s.

DC Comics is one of the largest and most successful comic book publishers in history. As the first company of its kind, DC Comics was instrumental in the creation of the comic book genre and introduced many of the most recognizable and beloved superhero characters ever created, including Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Since its inception, DC Comics has grown into a media empire that has seamlessly transcended its roots and used its popular characters and properties to produce a seemingly unending parade of successful motion pictures, television series, video games, and more.

Significance: Stan Lee was the creator of many superhero characters, such as Spider-Man and Iron Man.

Todd McFarlane was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on March 16, 1961. His childhood was spent in Southern California, but he moved back to Canada when he was fourteen. He began drawing comic book characters when he was still in high school. He returned to the United States to attend Spokane Falls Community College in 1979 and then went to Eastern Washington State University on a baseball scholarship. He supplemented the scholarship by working as a janitor and a clerk in comic book store.
