51. Panacea: Mitigating Harmful Fine-tuning for Large Language Models via Post-fine-tuning Perturbation

Abstract: Harmful fine-tuning attack introduces significant security risks to the fine-tuning services. Mainstream defenses aim to vaccinate the model such that the later harmful fine-tuning attack is less effective. However, our evaluation results show that such defenses are fragile -- with a few fine-tuning steps, the model still can learn the harmful knowledge. To this end, we do further experiment and find that an embarrassingly simple solution -- adding purely random perturbations to the fine-tuned model, can recover the model from harmful behavior, though it leads to a degradation in the model's fine-tuning performance. To address the degradation of fine-tuning performance, we further propose Panacea, which optimizes an adaptive perturbation that will be applied to the model after fine-tuning. Panacea maintains model's safety alignment performance without compromising downstream fine-tuning performance. Comprehensive experiments are conducted on different harmful ratios, fine-tuning tasks and mainstream LLMs, where the average harmful scores are reduced by up-to 21.5%, while maintaining fine-tuning performance. 52. Enhancing Web Service Anomaly Detection via Fine-grained Multi-modal Association and Frequency Domain Analysis

Abstract: Anomaly detection is crucial for ensuring the stability and reliability of web service systems. Logs and metrics contain multiple information that can reflect the system's operational state and potential anomalies. Thus, existing anomaly detection methods use logs and metrics to detect web service systems' anomalies through data fusion approaches. They associate logs and metrics using coarse-grained time window alignment and capture the normal patterns of system operation through reconstruction. However, these methods have two issues that limit their performance in anomaly detection. First, due to asynchrony between logs and metrics, coarse-grained time window alignment cannot achieve a precise association between the two modalities. Second, reconstruction-based methods suffer from severe overgeneralization problems, resulting in anomalies being accurately reconstructed. In this paper, we propose a novel anomaly detection method named FFAD to address these two issues. On the one hand, FFAD employs graph-based alignment to mine and extract associations between the modalities from the constructed log-metric relation graph, achieving precise associations between logs and metrics. On the other hand, we improve the model's fit to normal data distributions through Fourier Frequency Focus, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of anomaly detection. We validated the effectiveness of our model on two real-world industrial datasets and one open-source dataset. 53. Low volume fraction of high-Tc superconductivity in La3Ni2O7 at 80 K and ambient pressure

Abstract: The discovery of superconductivity in pressurized La3Ni2O7 with a transition temperature of approximately 80 K above the boiling point of liquid nitrogen has sparked significant attention. It is essential to search for high-temperature superconductivity in bulk samples and at ambient pressure in nickelates. In this study, we report influential factors that affect the appearance of superconductivity in La3Ni2O7 at ambient pressure. From direct-current magnetic measurements, we observe a clear diamagnetic response at 80 K in post-annealed single crystals of La3Ni2O7 in oxygen. The superconducting volume fraction is estimated to be within 0.2%, resulting in a decrease in resistivity. Abstract: Using $\psi(3686)\rightarrow \pi^{0} h_{c}$ decays from a data sample of $(27.12\pm0.14)\times10^{8}$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, $h_c$ radiative decays to $\gamma\pi^{+}\pi^{-},~\gamma\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\eta,~\gamma2(\pi^{+}\pi^{-})$, and $\gamma p\bar{p}$ are observed for the first time, each with a significance greater than $5\sigma$. The corresponding branching fractions are measured. Furthermore, intermediate states below 2.8 GeV/$c^{2}$ are investigated, leading to the first observation of the decay process of $h_c\rightarrow\gamma f_{2}(1270)\rightarrow\gamma\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ with a significance of $5.5\,\sigma$. This observation represents the first instance of $h_c$ radiative decay to a tensor state.

Abstract: We introduce Qwen2.5-1M, a series of models that extend the context length to 1 million tokens. Compared to the previous 128K version, the Qwen2.5-1M series have significantly enhanced long-context capabilities through long-context pre-training and post-training. Key techniques such as long data synthesis, progressive pre-training, and multi-stage supervised fine-tuning are employed to effectively enhance long-context performance while reducing training costs. To promote the use of long-context models among a broader user base, we present and open-source our inference framework. This framework includes a length extrapolation method that can expand the model context lengths by at least four times, or even more, without additional training. To reduce inference costs, we implement a sparse attention method along with chunked prefill optimization for deployment scenarios and a sparsity refinement method to improve precision. Additionally, we detail our optimizations in the inference engine, including kernel optimization, pipeline parallelism, and scheduling optimization, which significantly enhance overall inference performance. By leveraging our inference framework, the Qwen2.5-1M models achieve a remarkable 3x to 7x prefill speedup in scenarios with 1 million tokens of context. This framework provides an efficient and powerful solution for developing applications that require long-context processing using open-source models. The Qwen2.5-1M series currently includes the open-source models Qwen2.5-7B-Instruct-1M and Qwen2.5-14B-Instruct-1M, as well as the API-accessed model Qwen2.5-Turbo. Evaluations show that Qwen2.5-1M models have been greatly improved in long-context tasks without compromising performance in short-context scenarios. Specifically, the Qwen2.5-14B-Instruct-1M model significantly outperforms GPT-4o-mini in long-context tasks and supports contexts eight times longer.

56. Integrating Deep-Learning-Based Magnetic Model and Non-Collinear Spin-Constrained Method: Methodology, Implementation and Application

Abstract: We propose a non-collinear spin-constrained method that generates training data for deep-learning-based magnetic model, which provides a powerful tool for studying complex magnetic phenomena at the atomic scale. First, we propose a projection method for atomic magnetic moments by applying a radial truncation to the numerical atomic orbitals. We then implement a Lagrange multiplier method that can yield the magnetic torques of atoms by constraining the magnitude and direction of atomic magnetic moments. The method is implemented in ABACUS with both plane wave basis and numerical atomic orbital basis. We benchmark the iron (Fe) systems with the new method and analyze differences from calculations with the plane wave basis and numerical atomic orbitals basis in describing magnetic energy barriers. Based on more than 30,000 first-principles data with the information of magnetic torque, we train a deep-learning-based magnetic model DeePSPIN for the Fe system. By utilizing the model in large-scale molecular dynamics simulations, we successfully predict Curie temperatures of $\alpha$-Fe close to experimental values.

57. Improving Quantum Optimization to Achieve Quadratic Time Complexity

Abstract: Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) is a promising candidate for achieving quantum advantage in combinatorial optimization. However, its variational framework presents a long-standing challenge in selecting circuit parameters. In this work, we prove that the energy expectation produced by QAOA can be expressed as a trigonometric function of the final-level mixer parameter. Leveraging this insight, we introduce Penta-O, a level-wise parameter-setting strategy that eliminates the classical outer loop, maintains minimal sampling overhead, and ensures non-decreasing performance. This method is broadly applicable to the generic quadratic unconstrained binary optimization formulated as the Ising model. For a $p$-level QAOA, Penta-O achieves an unprecedented quadratic time complexity of $\mathcal{O}(p^2)$ and a sampling overhead proportional to $5p+1$. Through experiments and simulations, we demonstrate that QAOA enhanced by Penta-O achieves near-optimal performance with exceptional circuit depth efficiency. An investigation on the cross section line shape is performed, and no significant structure is observed.

Abstract: We introduce our first-generation reasoning models, DeepSeek-R1-Zero and DeepSeek-R1. DeepSeek-R1-Zero, a model trained via large-scale reinforcement learning (RL) without supervised fine-tuning (SFT) as a preliminary step, demonstrates remarkable reasoning capabilities. Through RL, DeepSeek-R1-Zero naturally emerges with numerous powerful and intriguing reasoning behaviors. However, it encounters challenges such as poor readability, and language mixing. To address these issues and further enhance reasoning performance, we introduce DeepSeek-R1, which incorporates multi-stage training and cold-start data before RL. DeepSeek-R1 achieves performance comparable to OpenAI-o1-1217 on reasoning tasks. To support the research community, we open-source DeepSeek-R1-Zero, DeepSeek-R1, and six dense models (1.5B, 7B, 8B, 14B, 32B, 70B) distilled from DeepSeek-R1 based on Qwen and Llama.

Abstract: Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated significant potential in decision-making and reasoning, particularly when integrated with various tools to effectively solve complex problems. However, existing benchmarks for evaluating LLMs' tool usage face several limitations: (1) limited evaluation scenarios, often lacking assessments in real multi-turn dialogue contexts; (2) narrow evaluation dimensions, with insufficient detailed assessments of how LLMs use tools; and (3) reliance on LLMs or real API executions for evaluation, which introduces significant overhead. To address these challenges, we introduce ACEBench, a comprehensive benchmark for assessing tool usage in LLMs. ACEBench categorizes data into three primary types based on evaluation methodology: Normal, Special, and Agent. "Normal" evaluates tool usage in basic scenarios; "Special" evaluates tool usage in situations with ambiguous or incomplete instructions; "Agent" evaluates tool usage through multi-agent interactions to simulate real-world, multi-turn dialogues. We conducted extensive experiments using ACEBench, analyzing various LLMs in-depth and providing a more granular examination of error causes across different data types.

61. Three-stage dynamics of nonlinear pulse amplification in ultrafast mid-infrared fiber amplifier with anomalous dispersion

Abstract: Nonlinear pulse amplification in optical fiber, with capability of breaking the gain-bandwidth limitation, is a key technique for high-energy, ultrafast pulse generation. In the longer wavelength region (including 1.55 {\mu}m, 2 {\mu}m and 2.8 {\mu}m) where the gain fiber has normally strong anomalous dispersion, the nonlinear amplification process over fiber exhibits more complicated dynamics than that of its 1-{\mu}m counterpart, and the underlying mechanism of the nonlinear pulse propagation process in high-gain anomalous fiber is still elusive so far. Here, we demonstrate an in-depth study on the nonlinear amplification process in high-gain ultrafast mid-infrared fiber, providing clear physical understanding on the debate of adiabatic soliton compression. We unveil that under the high-gain condition, the ultrafast pulse launched into the anomalous gain fiber experiences successively three distinct stages, named as the balance between linear and nonlinear chirp, high-order-soliton-like pulse compression and pulse splitting due to high-order effects. While a relatively-clean ultrafast pulse can be obtained immediately after the high-order-soliton-like compression stage, excessive gain fiber length could hardly enhance further the pulse peak power due to soliton splitting. Our findings can provide several critical guidelines for designing high-power ultrafast fiber amplifiers at near- and mid-infrared wavelengths.

Abstract: We present Hunyuan3D 2.0, an advanced large-scale 3D synthesis system for generating high-resolution textured 3D assets. This system includes two foundation components: a large-scale shape generation model -- Hunyuan3D-DiT, and a large-scale texture synthesis model -- Hunyuan3D-Paint. The shape generative model, built on a scalable flow-based diffusion transformer, aims to create geometry that properly aligns with a given condition image, laying a solid foundation for downstream applications. The texture synthesis model, benefiting from strong geometric and diffusion priors, produces high-resolution and vibrant texture maps for either generated or hand-crafted meshes. Furthermore, we build Hunyuan3D-Studio -- a versatile, user-friendly production platform that simplifies the re-creation process of 3D assets. It allows both professional and amateur users to manipulate or even animate their meshes efficiently. We systematically evaluate our models, showing that Hunyuan3D 2.0 outperforms previous state-of-the-art models, including the open-source models and closed-source models in geometry details, condition alignment, texture quality, and etc. Hunyuan3D 2.0 is publicly released in order to fill the gaps in the open-source 3D community for large-scale foundation generative models. Abstract: Following the emergence of quantum computing, the subsequent quantum revolution will be that of interconnecting individual quantum computers at global level. In the same way that classical computers only realised their full potential with the emergence of the internet, a fully realised quantum internet is the next stage of evolution for quantum computation. This work examines in detail how the quantum internet would evolve in practice, focusing not only on the technology itself but also on the implications it will have economically and politically. We present both original ideas, as well as an extensive review of relevant and related background material. This work begins with a description of classical networks before introducing the key concepts behind quantum networks, such as quantum internet protocols, quantum cryptography, and cloud quantum computing. The work is divided into technical sections (requiring only a basic knowledge of the notation of quantum mechanics), for those interested in mathematical details, as well as non-technical sections for those seeking a more general understanding. Abstract: Language model pretraining with next token prediction has proved effective for scaling compute but is limited to the amount of available training data. Scaling reinforcement learning (RL) unlocks a new axis for the continued improvement of artificial intelligence, with the promise that large language models (LLMs) can scale their training data by learning to explore with rewards. However, prior published work has not produced competitive results. In light of this, we report on the training practice of Kimi k1.5, our latest multi-modal LLM trained with RL, including its RL training techniques, multi-modal data recipes, and infrastructure optimization. Long context scaling and improved policy optimization methods are key ingredients of our approach, which establishes a simplistic, effective RL framework without relying on more complex techniques such as Monte Carlo tree search, value functions, and process reward models. Notably, our system achieves state-of-the-art reasoning performance across multiple benchmarks and modalities -- e.g., 77.5 on AIME, 96.2 on MATH 500, 94-th percentile on Codeforces, 74.9 on MathVista -- matching OpenAI's o1. Moreover, we present effective long2short methods that use long-CoT techniques to improve short-CoT models, yielding state-of-the-art short-CoT reasoning results -- e.g., 60.8 on AIME, 94.6 on MATH500, 47.3 on LiveCodeBench -- outperforming existing short-CoT models such as GPT-4o and Claude Sonnet 3.5 by a large margin (up to +550%)., Comment: 25 pages

Abstract: Electromagnetic field produced in non-central heavy ion collisions play a crucial role in phenomena such as chiral anomalous effects, directed flow of mesons and splitting of spin polarization of $\Lambda/\bar{\Lambda}$. A precise description of these fields is essential for quantitatively studying these effects. We investigate the space-time evolution of the electromagnetic fields by numerically solving Maxwell's equations using the results from the UrQMD model, rather than relying on an ansatz. We present the space-averaged dynamic electromagnetic fields, weighted by energy density, in the central region of heavy-ion collisions. These measurements can serve as a barometer for assessing the effects induced by magnetic fields. Comparing the fields at geometric center of the collisions, the space-averaged dynamical fields weighted by the energy density are smaller at the early stage but damp much slower at the later stage. We discuss the impact of these space averaged dynamical magnetic fields on the spin polarization and spin alignment in heavy ion collisions. Additionally, we explore the opportunity to study non-perturbative regime of Quantum Electrodynamics (QED) by presenting the simulation results for space averaged dynamical electric field at intermediate collision energies. Abstract: With the continuous advancement of large language models (LLMs) in mathematical reasoning, evaluating their performance in this domain has become a prominent research focus. Recent studies have raised concerns about the reliability of current mathematical benchmarks, highlighting issues such as simplistic design and potential data leakage. Therefore, creating a reliable benchmark that effectively evaluates the genuine capabilities of LLMs in mathematical reasoning remains a significant challenge. To address this, we propose RV-Bench, a framework for Benchmarking LLMs via Random Variables in mathematical reasoning. Specifically, the background content of a random variable question (RV question) mirrors the original problem in existing standard benchmarks, but the variable combinations are randomized into different values. LLMs must fully understand the problem-solving process for the original problem to correctly answer RV questions with various combinations of variable values. As a result, the LLM's genuine capability in mathematical reasoning is reflected by its accuracy on RV-Bench. Extensive experiments are conducted with 29 representative LLMs across 900+ RV questions. A leaderboard for RV-Bench ranks the genuine capability of these LLMs. Further analysis of accuracy dropping indicates that current LLMs still struggle with complex mathematical reasoning problems., Comment: Work in progress

Abstract: Osseointegration is crucial to the success of biomedical implants. Additive manufacturing of implants offers a high degree of design freedom, enabling precise control over implant geometry and material composition. Bioactive glass (BG) can substantially enhance bone binding and bioactivity; however, limited research has been conducted on its incorporation into additively manufactured implants. The performance of BG varies depending on the incorporation method, and the spatial and temporal evolution of its integration remains unclear. In this study, we synthesized Ti-6Al-4V/58S BG composites by using the selective laser melting method and systematically compared the effects of BG coating and doping in additively manufactured implants. In vivo histological results from animal tests were statistically analyzed and discussed in terms of osseointegration over 4- and 12-week periods. Bone-to-implant contact (BIC) and bone density (BD) were used as quantitative metrics to evaluate interactions between the implants and surrounding bone. Our findings indicate that both BG-doped and BG-coated implants accelerated bone ingrowth during the early stages of healing. BG-coated implants demonstrated a greater improvement than did pure 3D-printed Ti-6Al-4V implants. However, the effects of BG became nonsignificant during the later healing stage (12 weeks). This study provides a foundation for systematically investigating BG incorporation methods in 3D-printed biomedical implants and their effect on osseointegration.

Abstract: Spatial reasoning is an essential problem in embodied AI research. Efforts to enhance spatial reasoning abilities through supplementary spatial data and fine-tuning have proven limited and ineffective when addressing complex embodied tasks, largely due to their dependence on language-based outputs. While some approaches have introduced a point-based action space to mitigate this issue, they fall short in managing more intricate tasks within complex environments. This deficiency arises from their failure to fully exploit the inherent thinking and reasoning capabilities that are fundamental strengths of Vision-Language Models (VLMs). To address these limitations, we propose a novel approach named SpatialCoT, specifically designed to bolster the spatial reasoning capabilities of VLMs. Our approach comprises two stages: spatial coordinate bi-directional alignment, which aligns vision-language inputs with spatial coordinates, and chain-of-thought spatial grounding, which harnesses the reasoning capabilities of language models for advanced spatial reasoning. We evaluate SpatialCoT on challenging navigation and manipulation tasks, both in simulation and real-world settings. Abstract: Using a sample of $(10087\pm44)\times10^{6}$ $J/\psi$ events accumulated with the BESIII detector, we analyze the decays $\eta\rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-l^+l^-$ ($l=e$ or $\mu$) via the process $J/\psi\rightarrow\gamma\eta$. The branching fraction of $\eta\rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-e^+e^-$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}(\eta\rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-e^+e^-)=(3.07\pm0.12_{\rm{stat.}}\pm0.19_{\rm{syst.}}) \times10^{-4}$. No signal events are observed for the $\eta\rightarrow\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ decay, leading to an upper limit on the branching fraction of $\mathcal{B}(\eta\rightarrow\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\mu^{+}\mu^{-})<4.0\times10^{-7}$ at the 90\% confidence level. Furthermore, the $CP$-violation asymmetry parameter is found to be $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(\eta\rightarrow\pi^{+}\pi^{-}e^{+}e^{-})=(-4.04\pm4.69_{\rm{stat.}}\pm0.14_{\rm{syst.}})\%$, showing no evidence of $CP$-violation with current statistics. Additionally, we extract the transition form factor from the decay amplitude of $\eta\rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-e^+e^-$. Finally, axion-like particles are searched for via the decay $\eta\rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-a, a\rightarrow e^+e^-$, and upper limits on this branching fraction relative to that of $\eta\rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-e^+e^-$ are presented as a function of the axion-like particle mass in the range $5-200\ \mathrm{MeV}/c^{2}$.

70. Laser optothermal nanobomb for efficient flattening of nanobubbles in van der Waals materials

Abstract: Nanobubbles are typical nanodefects commonly existing in two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals materials such as transition metal dioxides, especially after their transfer from growth substrate to target substrates. These nanobubbles, though tiny, may significantly alter the local electric, optoelectronic, thermal, or mechanical properties of 2D materials and therefore are rather detrimental to the constructed devices. However, there is no post-processing method so far that can effectively eliminate nanobubbles in 2D materials after their fabrication and transfer, which has been a major obstacle in the development of 2D material based devices. Here, we propose a principle, called laser optothermal nanobomb (LOTB), that can effectively flatten nanobubbles in 2D materials through a dynamic process of optothermally induced phase transition and stress-pulling effect in nanobubbles. Operation of LOTB on monolayer molybdenum disulfide (1L-MoS2) films shows that the surface roughness can be reduced by more than 70% on a time scale of ~50 ms, without damage to the intrinsic property of 1L-MoS2 as validated by micro-nano photoluminescence and Raman spectroscopy. Abstract: CLIP (Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training) has attained great success in pattern recognition and computer vision. Transferring CLIP to downstream tasks (e.g. zero- or few-shot classification) is a hot topic in multimodal learning. However, current studies primarily focus on either prompt learning for text or adapter tuning for vision, without fully exploiting the complementary information and correlations among image-text pairs. In this paper, we propose an Image Description Enhanced CLIP-Adapter (IDEA) method to adapt CLIP to few-shot image classification tasks. This method captures fine-grained features by leveraging both visual features and textual descriptions of images. IDEA is a training-free method for CLIP, and it can be comparable to or even exceeds state-of-the-art models on multiple tasks. Furthermore, we introduce Trainable-IDEA (T-IDEA), which extends IDEA by adding two lightweight learnable components (i.e., a projector and a learnable latent space), further enhancing the model's performance and achieving SOTA results on 11 datasets. As one important contribution, we employ the Llama model and design a comprehensive pipeline to generate textual descriptions for images of 11 datasets, resulting in a total of 1,637,795 image-text pairs, named "IMD-11". Abstract: Many active galaxies harbor powerful relativistic jets, however, the detailed mechanisms of their formation and acceleration remain poorly understood. To investigate the area of jet acceleration and collimation with the highest available angular resolution, we study the innermost region of the bipolar jet in the nearby low-ionization nuclear emission-line region (LINER) galaxy NGC 1052. We combined observations of NGC 1052 taken with VLBA, GMVA, and EHT over one week in the spring of 2017. For the first time, NGC 1052 was detected with the EHT, providing a size of the central region in-between both jet bases of 250 RS (Schwarzschild radii) perpendicular to the jet axes. This size estimate supports previous studies of the jets expansion profile which suggest two breaks of the profile at around 300 RS and 10000 RS distances to the core. Furthermore, we estimated the magnetic field to be 1.25 Gauss at a distance of 22 {\mu}as from the central engine by fitting a synchrotron-self absorption spectrum to the innermost emission feature, which shows a spectral turn-over at about 130 GHz. Assuming a purely poloidal magnetic field, this implies an upper limit on the magnetic field strength at the event horizon of 26000 Gauss, which is consistent with previous measurements. The complex, low-brightness, double-sided jet structure in NGC 1052 makes it a challenge to detect the source at millimeter (mm) wavelengths. However, our first EHT observations have demonstrated that detection is possible up to at least 230 GHz. This study offers a glimpse through the dense surrounding torus and into the innermost central region, where the jets are formed. Abstract: Bilayer nickelate thin film superconductors discovered under ambient pressure enable vast possibilities for investigating electronic structures of the superconducting state. Here, we report angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) measurements of heterointerfaces between 1, 2, and 3 unit-cell epitaxial La$_{2.85}$Pr$_{0.15}$Ni$_2$O$_7$ films and SrLaAlO$_4$ substates, through pure-oxygen in situ sample transportation. Evidence obtained using photons with distinct probing depths shows that conduction is localized primarily at the first unit cell near the interface. Scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), together with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS), indicates that interfacial Sr diffusion and pronounced oxygen 2p hybridization gradient may collectively account for the interfacial confinement of conduction. Fermi surface maps reveal hole doping compared to non-superconducting ambient-pressure bulk crystals. Measurements of dispersive band structures suggest the contributions from both Ni $d_{x^2-y^2}$ and $d_{z^2}$ orbitals at the Fermi level. Density functional theory (DFT) + U calculations capture qualitative features of the ARPES results, consistent with a hole-doped scenario. These findings constrain theoretical models of the superconducting mechanism and suggest pathways for enhancing superconductivity in nickelates under ambient pressure., Comment: under review

Abstract: Based on a data sample of $(10087 \pm 44) \times 10^6$ $J/\psi$ events taken with the BESIII detector, we search for the flavor-changing neutral current charmonium decay $J/\psi \to D^{0} \mu^{+} \mu^{-} + \text{c.c.}$. No significant signal above the background is observed, and the upper limit on its branching fraction is set to be $\mathcal{B}(J/\psi \to D^{0}\mu^{+}\mu^{-} + \text{c.c.} ) < 1.1 \times 10^{-7}$ at the 90% confidence level. Abstract: Seasickness is a prevalent issue that adversely impacts both passenger experiences and the operational efficiency of maritime crews. While techniques that redirect attention have proven effective in alleviating motion sickness symptoms in terrestrial environments, applying similar strategies to manage seasickness poses unique challenges due to the prolonged and intense motion environment associated with maritime travel. In this study, we propose a mindfulness brain-computer interface (BCI), specifically designed to redirect attention with the aim of mitigating seasickness symptoms in real-world settings. Our system utilizes a single-channel headband to capture prefrontal EEG signals, which are then wirelessly transmitted to computing devices for the assessment of mindfulness states. The results are transferred into real-time feedback as mindfulness scores and audiovisual stimuli, facilitating a shift in attentional focus from physiological discomfort to mindfulness practices. A total of 43 individuals participated in a real-world maritime experiment consisted of three sessions: a real-feedback mindfulness session, a resting session, and a pseudofeedback mindfulness session. Notably, 81.39% of participants reported that the mindfulness BCI intervention was effective, and there was a significant reduction in the severity of seasickness, as measured by the Misery Scale (MISC). Furthermore, EEG analysis revealed a decrease in the theta/beta ratio, corresponding with the alleviation of seasickness symptoms. A decrease in overall EEG band power during the real-feedback mindfulness session suggests that the mindfulness BCI fosters a more tranquil and downregulated state of brain activity. Together, this study presents a novel nonpharmacological, portable, and effective approach for seasickness intervention, with the potential to enhance the cruising experience for both passengers and crews.

Abstract: We introduce MiniMax-01 series, including MiniMax-Text-01 and MiniMax-VL-01, which are comparable to top-tier models while offering superior capabilities in processing longer contexts. The core lies in lightning attention and its efficient scaling. To maximize computational capacity, we integrate it with Mixture of Experts (MoE), creating a model with 32 experts and 456 billion total parameters, of which 45.9 billion are activated for each token. We develop an optimized parallel strategy and highly efficient computation-communication overlap techniques for MoE and lightning attention. This approach enables us to conduct efficient training and inference on models with hundreds of billions of parameters across contexts spanning millions of tokens. The context window of MiniMax-Text-01 can reach up to 1 million tokens during training and extrapolate to 4 million tokens during inference at an affordable cost. Our vision-language model, MiniMax-VL-01 is built through continued training with 512 billion vision-language tokens. Experiments on both standard and in-house benchmarks show that our models match the performance of state-of-the-art models like GPT-4o and Claude-3.5-Sonnet while offering 20-32 times longer context window. 77. PSReg: Prior-guided Sparse Mixture of Experts for Point Cloud Registration

Abstract: The discriminative feature is crucial for point cloud registration. Recent methods improve the feature discriminative by distinguishing between non-overlapping and overlapping region points. However, they still face challenges in distinguishing the ambiguous structures in the overlapping regions. Therefore, the ambiguous features they extracted resulted in a significant number of outlier matches from overlapping regions. To solve this problem, we propose a prior-guided SMoE-based registration method to improve the feature distinctiveness by dispatching the potential correspondences to the same experts. Specifically, we propose a prior-guided SMoE module by fusing prior overlap and potential correspondence embeddings for routing, assigning tokens to the most suitable experts for processing. In addition, we propose a registration framework by a specific combination of Transformer layer and prior-guided SMoE module. The proposed method not only pays attention to the importance of locating the overlapping areas of point clouds, but also commits to finding more accurate correspondences in overlapping areas. Our extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our method, achieving state-of-the-art registration recall (95.7\%/79.3\%) on the 3DMatch/3DLoMatch benchmark. 78. Unveiling Code Clone Patterns in Open Source VR Software: An Empirical Study

Abstract: Code cloning is frequently observed in software development, often leading to a variety of maintenance and security issues. While substantial research has been conducted on code cloning in traditional software, to the best of my knowledge, there is a lack of studies on cloning in VR software that consider its unique nature, particularly the presence of numerous serialized files in conjunction with the source code. In this paper, we conduct the first large-scale quantitative empirical analysis of software clones in 345 open-source VR projects, using the NiCad detector for source code clone detection and large language models (LLMs) for identifying serialized file clones. Our study leads to a number of insights into cloning phenomena in VR software, guided by seven carefully formulated research questions. These findings, along with their implications, are anticipated to provide useful guidance for both researchers and software developers within the VR field.

Abstract: The running-time analysis of evolutionary combinatorial optimization is a fundamental topic in evolutionary computation. Its current research mainly focuses on specific algorithms for simplified problems due to the challenge posed by fluctuating fitness values. This paper proposes a multiple-gain model to estimate the fitness trend of population during iterations. The proposed model is an improved version of the average gain model, which is the approach to estimate the running time of evolutionary algorithms for numerical optimization. The improvement yields novel results of evolutionary combinatorial optimization, including a briefer proof for the time complexity upper bound in the case of (1+1) EA for the Onemax problem, two tighter time complexity upper bounds than the known results in the case of (1+$\lambda$) EA for the knapsack problem with favorably correlated weights and a closed-form expression of time complexity upper bound in the case of (1+$\lambda$) EA for general $k$-MAX-SAT problems. The results indicate that the practical running time aligns with the theoretical results, verifying that the multiple-gain model is more general for running-time analysis of evolutionary combinatorial optimization than state-of-the-art methods.

Abstract: Due to traits of CMOS compatibility and scalability, HfO2-based ferroelectrics are promising candidates for next-generation memory devices. However, their commercialization has been greatly hindered by reliability issues, with fatigue being a major impediment. We report the fatigue-free behavior in interface-designed Hf0.5Zr0.5O2-based heterostructures. A coherent CeO2-x/Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 heterointerface is constructed, wherein CeO2-x acts as an oxygen sponge, capable of reversibly accepting and releasing oxygen vacancies. This design effectively alleviates defect aggregation at the electrode-ferroelectric interface, enabling improved switching characteristics. Further, a symmetric capacitor architecture is designed to minimize the imprint, thereby suppressing the cycling-induced oriented defect drift. The two-pronged technique mitigates oxygen-voltammetry-generated chemical/energy fluctuations, suppressing the formation of paraelectric phase and polarization degradation. The design ensures a fatigue-free feature exceeding 10^11 switching cycles and an endurance lifetime surpassing 10^12 cycles for Hf0.5Zr0.5O2-based capacitors, along with excellent temperature stability and retention. Abstract: Flat-band systems provide an ideal platform for exploring exotic quantum phenomena, where the strongly suppressed kinetic energy in these flat energy bands suggests the potential for exotic phases driven by geometric structure, disorder, and interactions. While intriguing phenomena and physical mechanisms have been unveiled in theoretical models, synthesizing such systems within scalable quantum platforms remains challenging. 82. Where to Go Next Day: Multi-scale Spatial-Temporal Decoupled Model for Mid-term Human Mobility Prediction

Abstract: Predicting individual mobility patterns is crucial across various applications. While current methods mainly focus on predicting the next location for personalized services like recommendations, they often fall short in supporting broader applications such as traffic management and epidemic control, which require longer period forecasts of human mobility. This study addresses mid-term mobility prediction, aiming to capture daily travel patterns and forecast trajectories for the upcoming day or week. We propose a novel Multi-scale Spatial-Temporal Decoupled Predictor (MSTDP) designed to efficiently extract spatial and temporal information by decoupling daily trajectories into distinct location-duration chains. Our approach employs a hierarchical encoder to model multi-scale temporal patterns, including daily recurrence and weekly periodicity, and utilizes a transformer-based decoder to globally attend to predicted information in the location or duration chain. Additionally, we introduce a spatial heterogeneous graph learner to capture multi-scale spatial relationships, enhancing semantic-rich representations. Extensive experiments, including statistical physics analysis, are conducted on large-scale mobile phone records in five cities (Boston, Los Angeles, SF Bay Area, Shanghai, and Tokyo), to demonstrate MSTDP's advantages. Applied to epidemic modeling in Boston, MSTDP significantly outperforms the best-performing baseline, achieving a remarkable 62.8% reduction in MAE for cumulative new cases.

Abstract: Building upon our previous investigations of O1 replication (Part 1: Journey Learning [Qin et al., 2024] and Part 2: Distillation [Huang et al., 2024]), this work explores the potential of inference-time scaling in large language models (LLMs) for medical reasoning tasks, ranging from diagnostic decision-making to treatment planning. Through extensive experiments on medical benchmarks of varying complexity (MedQA, Medbullets, and JAMA Clinical Challenges), our investigation reveals several key insights: (1) Increasing inference time does lead to improved performance. With a modest training set of 500 samples, our model yields substantial performance improvements of 6%-11%. (2) Task complexity directly correlates with the required length of reasoning chains, confirming the necessity of extended thought processes for challenging problems. (3) The differential diagnoses generated by our model adhere to the principles of the hypothetico-deductive method, producing a list of potential conditions that may explain a patient's symptoms and systematically narrowing these possibilities by evaluating the evidence. These findings demonstrate the promising synergy between inference-time scaling and journey learning in advancing LLMs' real-world clinical reasoning capabilities.

Abstract: Based on $(1.0087\pm0.0044)\times10^{10}$ $J/\psi$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII $e^+e^-$ storage ring, we search for $K_{S}^{0}$ invisible decays via the $J/\psi \to \phi K_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0}$ process. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit of the branching fraction of these invisible decays is set at 8.4 $\times$ $10^{-4}$ at the 90\% confidence level. This is the first experimental search for $K^0_S$ invisible decays.

85. Heat Conduction and Thermal Switching Performance of Surface Plasmon Polaritons in Ag2Se Quantum Dot Composite Polymer Film

Abstract: To stabilize the working temperature of an equipment, a solid-state thermal resistor is usually a requisite, which could adjust its heat conductance continuously according to the temperature. In this work, the thermal conductivity and the thermal switching performances of surface plasmon polaritons in the polymer films filled with Ag2Se quantum dots (QDs) were theoretically analyzed, and a theoretical model was also derived to reveal the dependence of the thermal conductivity on the temperature and the structure of a composite film, which is verified to be effective by numerical calculations. It shows that the thermal conductivity will decrease following ~t-3exp({\zeta}/Td) rule under the thin film limit, here t, d and T are film thickness, diameter of QDs and temperature, respectively, and {\zeta} is a constant. A high thermal conductivity could be only realized at a device with a size lager than millimeter scale, due to the need of avoiding boundary scatterings of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs). At the millimeter scale, the thermal conductivity could be reduced by 100 times by increasing temperature from 300 to 400 K, which suggests a very high thermal switching ratio almost in all kinds of solid-state thermal resistor. This study brings new insights in designing thermal resistor and understanding heat conduction in films by adjusting its structures.

86. Migician: Revealing the Magic of Free-Form Multi-Image Grounding in Multimodal Large Language Models

Abstract: The recent advancement of Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) has significantly improved their fine-grained perception of single images and general comprehension across multiple images. However, existing MLLMs still face challenges in achieving precise grounding in complex multi-image scenarios. To address this, we first explore a Chain-of-Thought (CoT) framework that integrates single-image grounding with multi-image comprehension. While partially effective, it remains unstable and struggles to capture abstract visual information due to its non-end-to-end nature. Therefore, we introduce Migician, the first multi-image grounding model capable of performing free-form and accurate grounding across multiple images. To support this, we present the MGrounding-630k dataset, which comprises data for several multi-image grounding tasks derived from existing datasets, along with newly generated free-form grounding instruction-following data. Furthermore, we propose MIG-Bench, a comprehensive benchmark specifically designed for evaluating multi-image grounding capabilities. Experimental results demonstrate that our model achieves significantly superior multi-image grounding capabilities, outperforming the best existing MLLMs by 21.61% and even surpassing much larger 70B models. This evolution has birthed a novel paradigm in NLP, i.e., human-model cooperation, that has yielded remarkable progress in numerous NLP tasks in recent years. In this paper, we take the first step to present a thorough review of human-model cooperation, exploring its principles, formalizations, and open challenges. In particular, we introduce a new taxonomy that provides a unified perspective to summarize existing approaches. Also, we discuss potential frontier areas and their corresponding challenges. Abstract: The 2017 observing campaign of the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) delivered the first very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) images at the observing frequency of 230 GHz, leading to a number of unique studies on black holes and relativistic jets from active galactic nuclei (AGN). In total, eighteen sources were observed: the main science targets, Sgr A* and M87 along with various calibrators. We investigated the morphology of the sixteen AGN in the EHT 2017 data set, focusing on the properties of the VLBI cores: size, flux density, and brightness temperature. We studied their dependence on the observing frequency in order to compare it with the Blandford-K\"onigl (BK) jet model. We modeled the source structure of seven AGN in the EHT 2017 data set using linearly polarized circular Gaussian components and collected results for the other nine AGN from dedicated EHT publications, complemented by lower frequency data in the 2-86 GHz range. Then, we studied the dependences of the VLBI core flux density, size, and brightness temperature on the frequency measured in the AGN host frame. We compared the observations with the BK jet model and estimated the magnetic field strength dependence on the distance from the central black hole. Our results indicate a deviation from the standard BK model, particularly in the decrease of the brightness temperature with the observing frequency. Either bulk acceleration of the jet material, energy transfer from the magnetic field to the particles, or both are required to explain the observations.

Abstract: We search for the leptonic decay $D^+\to e^+\nu_{e}$ using an $e^+e^-$ collision data sample with an integrated luminosity of 20.3~fb$^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV. No significant signal is observed and an upper limit on the branching fraction of $D^+\to e^+\nu_{e}$ is set as $9.7 \times 10^{-7}$, at the 90\% confidence level. Our upper limit is an order of magnitude smaller than the previous limit for this decay mode.

Abstract: We present the first amplitude analysis and branching fraction measurement of the decay $D^+_s\to \pi^+\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0\pi^0$, using $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33 fb$^{-1}$, and report the first observation of the pure $W$-annihilation decay $D_s^+ \to \omega\rho^+$ with a branching fraction of $(0.99\pm0.08_{\rm stat}\pm0.07_{\rm syst})\%$. In comparison to the low significance of the $\mathcal{D}$ wave in the decay $D_s^+ \to \phi\rho^+$, the dominance of the $\mathcal{D}$ wave over the $\mathcal{S}$ and $\mathcal{P}$ waves, with a fraction of $(51.85\pm7.28_{\rm stat}\pm7.90_{\rm syst})\%$ observed in the decay, provides crucial information for the``polarization puzzle", as well as for the understanding of charm meson decays. The branching fraction of $D^+_s\to \pi^+\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0\pi^0$ is measured to be $(4.41\pm0.15_{\rm stat}\pm0.13_{\rm syst})\%$. Moreover, the branching fraction of $D_s^+ \to \phi\rho^+$ is measured to be $(3.98\pm0.33_{\rm stat}\pm0.21_{\rm syst})\%$, and the $R_{\phi}= {\mathcal{B}(\phi\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0)}/{\mathcal{B}(\phi\to K^+K^-)}$ is determined to be $(0.222\pm0.019_{\rm stat}\pm0.016_{\rm syst}$), which is consistent with the previous measurement based on charm meson decays, but deviates from the results from $e^+e^-$ annihilation and $K$-$N$ scattering experiments by more than 3$\sigma$.

Abstract: We study the electromagnetic Dalitz decay $J/\psi \to e^+e^- \pi^0$ using $(10087 \pm 44) \times 10^6$ $J/\psi$ events collected by the \bes detector. The di-electron-invariant-mass dependent transition form factor of this decay is explored for the first time. A significant resonant structure corresponding to the $\rho/\omega$ resonance is observed, which cannot be described by existing theoretical models, due to contributions from the isospin-conserving $J/\psi \to \rho \pi^0$ and isospin-volating $J/\psi \to \omega \pi^0$ decays. The observed $\rho$--$\omega$ interference is consistent with that of the pion form factor but features a relatively narrow $\rho$ peak. By taking into account the contribution of this resonant structure, the branching fraction of $J/\psi \to e^+e^- \pi^0$ in the full $e^+e^-$ invariant mass spectrum range is also measured for the first time to be $(8.06 \pm 0.31 (\rm{stat}) \pm 0.38 (\rm{syst}))\times 10^{-7}$, which is two times larger than the prediction of the Vector Meson Dominance model due to the observed resonant contribution of $\rho/\omega$ resonances., Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures, Submitted to Phys. 92. SLAM: Towards Efficient Multilingual Reasoning via Selective Language Alignment

Abstract: Despite the significant improvements achieved by large language models (LLMs) in English reasoning tasks, these models continue to struggle with multilingual reasoning. Recent studies leverage a full-parameter and two-stage training paradigm to teach models to first understand non-English questions and then reason. However, this method suffers from both substantial computational resource computing and catastrophic forgetting. The fundamental cause is that, with the primary goal of enhancing multilingual comprehension, an excessive number of irrelevant layers and parameters are tuned during the first stage. Given our findings that the representation learning of languages is merely conducted in lower-level layers, we propose an efficient multilingual reasoning alignment approach that precisely identifies and fine-tunes the layers responsible for handling multilingualism. Experimental results show that our method, SLAM, only tunes 6 layers' feed-forward sub-layers including 6.5-8% of all parameters within 7B and 13B LLMs, achieving superior average performance than all strong baselines across 10 languages. 93. The S-PLUS Ultra-Short Survey: Photometric Re-calibration with the BEst STar Database

Abstract: We present an independent validation and comprehensive re-calibration of S-PLUS Ultra-Short Survey (USS) DR1 12-band photometry using about 30,000--70,000 standard stars from the BEst STar (BEST) database. We identify spatial variation of zero-point offsets, up to 30--40\,mmag for blue filters ($u$, $J0378$, $J0395$) and 10\,mmag for others, predominantly due to the higher uncertainties of the technique employed in the original USS calibration. Moreover, we detect large- and medium-scale CCD position-dependent systematic errors, up to 50\,mmag, primarily caused by different aperture and flat-field corrections. We then re-calibrate the USS DR1 photometry by correcting the systematic shifts for each tile using second-order two-dimensional polynomial fitting combined with a numerical stellar flat-field correction method. The re-calibrated results from the XPSP and the SCR standards are consistent within 6\,mmag in the USS zero-points, demonstrating both the typical precision of re-calibrated USS photometry and a sixfold improvement in USS zero-point precision. Further validation using SDSS and Pan-STARRS1, as well as LAMOST DR10 and Gaia photometry, also confirms this precision for the re-calibrated USS photometry. Our results clearly demonstrate the capability and the efficiency of the BEST database in improving calibration precision to the milli-magnitude level for wide-field photometric surveys. 94. Holographic inflation and holographic dark energy from entropy of the anti-de Sitter black hole

Abstract: Based on the entropy of anti-de Sitter black hole, a new holographic dark energy model has been proposed. When the Hubble horizon and particle horizon are chosen as the IR cutoff, the late-time accelerated expansion of universe is realized. In this paper, we consider the Hubble horizon as the IR cutoff to investigate holographic inflation and slow-roll inflation in this model. We find that slow-roll inflation with the chaotic potential $V_{0}\phi^{n}$ is favored by Planck results for some special cases, such as $n=1/3$ and $n=1/2$, while holographic inflation is not supported by Planck results. Then, we analyze the reheating temperature and the number of reheating e-folds in this model, and we find that the results favor the cases $n=1/3$ and $n=1/2$. Finally, we use the dynamical analysis method, statefinder diagnostic pairs, and the Hubble diagram to analyze this model. Our results indicate that when $b^{2}$ takes a small value, this model cannot be distinguished from the standard $\Lambda$CDM model and can serve as an alternative to it.

Abstract: Based on $(2712.4 \pm 14.3)\times 10^6$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected at the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we present the first observation of the decay $\psi(3686) \to K^{-}\Lambda(1520)\bar{\Xi}^{+} + c.c.$. The product branching fraction ${\cal B}[\psi(3686) \to K^{-}\Lambda(1520)\bar{\Xi}^{+} + c.c.] \times {\cal B}[\Lambda(1520) \to pK^{-}]$ is measured to be $(9.5 \pm 0.8 \pm 1.1) \times 10^{-7}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.

Abstract: Scientific figure captioning is a complex task that requires generating contextually appropriate descriptions of visual content. However, existing methods often fall short by utilizing incomplete information, treating the task solely as either an image-to-text or text summarization problem. This limitation hinders the generation of high-quality captions that fully capture the necessary details. Moreover, existing data sourced from arXiv papers contain low-quality captions, posing significant challenges for training large language models (LLMs). In this paper, we introduce a framework called Multi-LLM Collaborative Figure Caption Generation (MLBCAP) to address these challenges by leveraging specialized LLMs for distinct sub-tasks. Our approach unfolds in three key modules: (Quality Assessment) We utilize multimodal LLMs to assess the quality of training data, enabling the filtration of low-quality captions. (Diverse Caption Generation) We then employ a strategy of fine-tuning/prompting multiple LLMs on the captioning task to generate candidate captions. (Judgment) Lastly, we prompt a prominent LLM to select the highest quality caption from the candidates, followed by refining any remaining inaccuracies. Human evaluations demonstrate that informative captions produced by our approach rank better than human-written captions, highlighting its effectiveness. 97. Experimental Decoding Scrambled Quantum Information from the Future

Abstract: Quantum information scrambling describes the rapid spread of initially localized information across an entire quantum many-body system through entanglement generation. Once scrambled, the original local information becomes encoded globally, inaccessible from any single subsystem. In this work, we introduce a protocol that enables information scrambling into the past, allowing decoding even before the original information is generated. This protocol is achieved by simulating a closed timelike curve (a theoretical construct in which particles can traverse backward in time) using probabilistic methods. Remarkably, we find that stronger scrambling dynamics enhance the fidelity of the decoding process. We further present a quantum circuit design and experimentally implement our protocol on cloud-based Quantinuum and IBM quantum computers. 98. ArtCrafter: Text-Image Aligning Style Transfer via Embedding Reframing

Abstract: Recent years have witnessed significant advancements in text-guided style transfer, primarily attributed to innovations in diffusion models. These models excel in conditional guidance, utilizing text or images to direct the sampling process. However, despite their capabilities, direct conditional guidance approaches often face challenges in balancing the expressiveness of textual semantics with the diversity of output results while capturing stylistic features. To address these challenges, we introduce ArtCrafter, a novel framework for text-to-image style transfer. Specifically, we introduce an attention-based style extraction module, meticulously engineered to capture the subtle stylistic elements within an image. This module features a multi-layer architecture that leverages the capabilities of perceiver attention mechanisms to integrate fine-grained information. Additionally, we present a novel text-image aligning augmentation component that adeptly balances control over both modalities, enabling the model to efficiently map image and text embeddings into a shared feature space. We achieve this through attention operations that enable smooth information flow between modalities. Lastly, we incorporate an explicit modulation that seamlessly blends multimodal enhanced embeddings with original embeddings through an embedding reframing design, empowering the model to generate diverse outputs. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ArtCrafter yields impressive results in visual stylization, exhibiting exceptional levels of stylistic intensity, controllability, and diversity.

Abstract: A search for $\eta_c(2S)\to p\bar{p}K^+K^-$, together with measurement of branching fractions of $\chi_{cJ(J=0,1,2)}\to p\bar{p}K^+K^-$ in the $\psi(3686) \to \gamma \eta_c(2S)$ and the $\psi(3686) \to \gamma \chi_{cJ}$ radiative decays, is performed with $(2712.4\pm14.3)\times 10^6$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. An evidence for $\eta_c(2S)\to p\bar{p}K^+K^-$ is found, with a significance of $3.3\sigma$. The product branching fraction of $\mathcal{B}[\psi(3686)\to\gamma\eta_c(2S)]\cdot\mathcal{B}[\eta_c(2S)\to p\bar{p}K^+K^-]$ is determined to be $(1.98\mkern 2mu\pm\mkern 2mu0.41_{\text{stat.}}\mkern 2mu\pm\mkern 2mu0.99_{\text{syst.}})\times 10^{-7}$. The product branching fractions of $\mathcal{B}[\psi(3686)\to\gamma\chi_{cJ}]\cdot\mathcal{B}[\chi_{cJ}\to p\bar{p}K^+K^-]$ are measured to be $(2.49\mkern 2mu\pm\mkern 2mu 0.03_{\text{stat.}}\mkern 2mu\pm\mkern 2mu 0.15_{\text{syst.}})\times 10^{-5}$, $(1.83\mkern 2mu \pm\mkern 2mu 0.02_{\text{stat.}}\mkern 2mu \pm\mkern 2mu 0.11_{\text{syst.}})\times 10^{-5}$, and $(2.43\mkern 2mu\pm\mkern 2mu 0.02_{\text{stat.}}\mkern 2mu\pm\mkern 2mu 0.15_{\text{syst.}})\times 10^{-5}$, for $J=0,\ 1$, and 2, respectively., Comment: 12 pages, 2 figures

100. Cross-model Transferability among Large Language Models on the Platonic Representations of Concepts

Abstract: Understanding the inner workings of Large Language Models (LLMs) is a critical research frontier. Prior research has shown that a single LLM's concept representations can be captured as steering vectors (SVs), enabling the control of LLM behavior (e.g., towards generating harmful content). Our work takes a novel approach by exploring the intricate relationships between concept representations across different LLMs, drawing an intriguing parallel to Plato's Allegory of the Cave. In particular, we introduce a linear transformation method to bridge these representations and present three key findings: 1) Concept representations across different LLMs can be effectively aligned using simple linear transformations, enabling efficient cross-model transfer and behavioral control via SVs. 2) This linear transformation generalizes across concepts, facilitating alignment and control of SVs representing different concepts across LLMs. 3) A weak-to-strong transferability exists between LLM concept representations, whereby SVs extracted from smaller LLMs can effectively control the behavior of larger LLMs.
