The exact solutions of spherically symmetric space-times are explored by using Noether symmetries in $f(R,\phi,X)$ gravity with $R$ the scalar curvature, $\phi$ a scalar field and $X$ the kinetic term of $\phi$. Some of these solutions can represent new black holes solutions in this extended theory of gravity. The classical Noether approach is particularly applied to acquire the Noether symmetry in $f(R,\phi,X)$ gravity. Under the classical Noether theorem, it is shown that the Noether symmetry in $f(R,\phi,X)$ gravity yields the solvable first integral of motion. With the conservation relation obtained from the Noether symmetry, the exact solutions for the field equations can be found. The most important result in this paper is that, without assuming $R=\textrm{constant}$, we have found new spherically symmetric solutions in different theories such as: power-law $f(R)=f_0 R^n$ gravity, non-minimally coupling models between the scalar field and the Ricci scalar $f(R,\phi,X)=f_0 R^n \phi^m+f_1 X^q-V(\phi)$, non-minimally couplings between the scalar field and a kinetic term $f(R,\phi,X)=f_0 R^n +f_1\phi^mX^q$ , and also in extended Brans-Dicke gravity $f(R,\phi,X)=U(\phi,X)R$. It is also demonstrated that the approach with Noether symmetries can be regarded as a selection rule to determine the potential $V(\phi)$ for $\phi$, included in some class of the theories of $f(R,\phi,X)$ gravity., Comment: Accepted for publication in JCAP. We discuss an extended Teleparallel gravity models comprising functions of scalar invariants constructed by torsion, torsion Gauss-Bonnet and boundary terms. We adopt the Noether Symmetry Approach to select the functional forms, the first integrals and, eventually, the exact solutions of the dynamics in the context of flat Friedman-Robertson-Walker cosmology. In this paper, we will deform the usual energy-momentum dispersion relation of a photon gas at an intermediate scale between the Planck and electroweak scales. We will demonstrate that such a deformation can have non-trivial effects on the physics of dumb holes. So, motivated by the physics of dumb holes, we will first analyse the effect of such a deformation on thermodynamics. Then we observe that the velocity of sound also gets modified due to such a modification of the thermodynamics. This changes the position of the horizon of a dumb hole, and the analogous Hawking radiation from a dumb hole. Within this work, we propose a new generalised quintom dark energy model in the teleparallel alternative of general relativity theory, by considering a non-minimal coupling between the scalar fields of a quintom model with the scalar torsion component $T$ and the boundary term $B$. In the teleparallel alternative of general relativity theory, the boundary term represents the divergence of the torsion vector, $B=2\nabla_{\mu}T^{\mu}$, and is related to the Ricci scalar $R$ and the torsion scalar $T$, by the fundamental relation: $R=-T+B$. We have investigated the dynamical properties of the present quintom scenario in the teleparallel alternative of general relativity theory by performing a dynamical system analysis in the case of decomposable exponential potentials. The study analysed the structure of the phase space, revealing the fundamental dynamical effects of the scalar torsion and boundary couplings in the case of a more general quintom scenario. A spherically symmetric space-time solution for a diffusive two measures theory is studied. An asymmetric wormhole geometry is obtained where the metric coefficients have a linear term for galactic distances and the analysis of Mannheim and collaborators, can then be used to describe the galactic rotation curves. For cosmological distances, a de-Sitter space-time is realized. Centre of gravity coordinates for the wormhole is introduced which are the most suitable for the collective motion of a wormhole. The wormholes connect universes with different vacuum energy densities which may represent different universes in a "landscape scenario". The metric coefficients depend on the asymmetric wormhole parameters. The coefficient of the linear potential is proportional to both the mass of the wormhole and the cosmological constant of the observed universe. In this paper, we examine static spherically symmetric wormhole solutions in generalized $f(R,\phi)$ gravity. To do this, we consider three different kinds of fluids: anisotropic, barotropic and isotropic. We explore different $f(R,\phi)$ models and inspect the energy conditions for all of those three fluids. It is found that under some models in this theory, it is possible to obtain wormhole solutions without requiring exotic matter. The discussion about the conditions where the standard energy conditions (WEC and NEC) are valid for the fluids is discussed in details. From our results and for our cases, we conclude that for anisotropic and isotropic fluids, realistic wormhole geometries satisfying the energy conditions can be constructed., Comment: Matches published version

The Nobel Prize winning confirmation in 1998 of the accelerated expansion of our Universe put into sharp focus the need of a consistent theoretical model to explain the origin of this acceleration. As a result over the past two decades there has been a huge theoretical and observational effort into improving our understanding of the Universe. The cosmological equations describing the dynamics of a homogeneous and isotropic Universe are systems of ordinary differential equations, and one of the most elegant ways these can be investigated is by casting them into the form of dynamical systems. This allows the use of powerful analytical and numerical methods to gain a quantitative understanding of the cosmological dynamics derived by the models under study. In this review we apply these techniques to cosmology. We begin with a brief introduction to dynamical systems, fixed points, linear stability theory, Lyapunov stability, centre manifold theory and more advanced topics relating to the global structure of the solutions. Using this machinery we then analyse a large number of cosmological models and show how the stability conditions allow them to be tightly constrained and even ruled out on purely theoretical grounds. We are also able to identify those models which deserve further in depth investigation through comparison with observational data. This review is a comprehensive and detailed study of dynamical systems applications to cosmological models focusing on the late-time behaviour of our Universe, and in particular on its accelerated expansion. In self contained sections we present a large number of models ranging from canonical and non-canonical scalar fields, interacting models and non-scalar field models through to modified gravity scenarios. In this paper, a new generalised gravity-matter coupled theory of gravity is presented. This theory is constructed by assuming an action with an arbitrary function $f(T,B,L_m)$ which depends on the scalar torsion $T$, the boundary term $B=\nabla_{\mu}T^{\mu}$ and the matter Lagrangian $L_m$. Since the function depends on $B$ which appears in $R=-T+B$, it is possible to also reproduce curvature-matter coupled models such as $f(R,L_m)$ gravity. Additionally, the full theory also contains some interesting new teleparallel gravity-matter coupled theories of gravities such as $f(T,L_m)$ or $C_1 T+ f(B,L_m)$. The complete dynamical system for flat FLRW cosmology is presented and for some specific cases of the function, the corresponding cosmological model is studied. Even though it is not possible to differentiate General Relativity from Teleparallel Gravity using classical experiments, it could be possible to discriminate between them by quantum gravitational effects. These effects have motivated the introduction of nonlocal deformations of General Relativity, and similar effects are also expected to occur in Teleparallel Gravity. Here, we study nonlocal deformations of Teleparallel Gravity along with its cosmological solutions. We observe that Nonlocal Teleparallel Gravity (like nonlocal General Relativity) is consistent with the present cosmological data obtained by SNe Ia + BAO + CC + $H_0$ observations. We study a generalized nonlocal theory of gravity which, in specific limits, can become either the curvature non-local or teleparallel non-local theory. Using the Noether Symmetry Approach, we find that the coupling functions coming from the non-local terms are constrained to be either exponential or linear in form. It is well known that in some non-local theories, a certain kind of exponential non-local couplings are needed in order to achieve a renormalizable theory. In this paper, we explicitly show that this kind of coupling does not need to by introduced by hand, instead, it appears naturally from the symmetries of the Lagrangian in flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmology. Finally, we find de-Sitter and power law cosmological solutions for different nonlocal theories. New classes of modified teleparallel theories of gravity are introduced. The action of this theory is constructed to be a function of the irreducible parts of torsion $f(T_{\rm ax},T_{\rm ten},T_{\rm vec})$, where $T_{\rm ax},T_{\rm ten}$ and $T_{\rm vec}$ are squares of the axial, tensor and vector components of torsion, respectively. This is the most general (well-motivated) second order teleparallel theory of gravity that can be constructed from the torsion tensor. Different particular second order theories can be recovered from this theory such as new general relativity, conformal teleparallel gravity or $f(T)$ gravity. Additionally, the boundary term $B$ which connects the Ricci scalar with the torsion scalar via $R=-T+B$ can also be incorporated into the action. Modelling two-dimensional chiral materials is a challenging problem in continuum mechanics because three-dimensional theories reduced to isotropic two-dimensional problems become non-chiral. Various approaches have been suggested to overcome this problem. We propose a new approach to this problem by formulating an intrinsically two-dimensional model which does not require references to a higher dimensional one. We are able to model planar chiral materials starting from a geometrically non-linear Cosserat type elasticity theory. Our results are in agreement with previously derived equations of motion but can contain additional terms due to our non-linear approach. In this paper we study the occurrence of accelerating universe versus decelerating universe between the F(R) gravity frame (Jordan frame) and non-minimally coupled scalar field theory frame, and the minimally coupled scalar field theory frame (Einstein frame) for various models. As we show, if acceleration is imposed in one frame, it will not necessarily correspond to an accelerating metric when transformed in another frame. We study the gravitational lensing scenario where the lens is a spherically symmetric charged black hole (BH) surrounded by quintessence matter. The null geodesic equations in the curved background of the black hole are derived. The resulting trajectory equation is solved analytically via perturbation and series methods for special choice of parameters and the distance of the closest approach to black hole is calculated. We also derive the lens equation giving the bending angle of light in the curved background. In the strong field approximation, the solution of the lens equation is also obtained for all values of the quintessence parameter $w_q$. For all $w_q$, we show that there are no stable closed null orbits and that corrections to the deflection angle for the Reissner-Nordstr\"om black hole when the observer and the source are at large, but finite, distances from the lens do not depend on the charge up to the inverse of the distances squared. We study the stability of different higher dimensional thin--shell wormholes (HDTSW) in general relativity with a cosmological constant. We show that a $d$--dimensional thin--shell wormhole surrounded by quintessence can have three different throat geometries: spherical, planar and hyperbolic. Unlike the spherical geometry, the planar and hyperbolic geometries allow different topologies that can be interpreted as higher-dimensional domain walls or branes connecting two universes. To construct these geometries, we use the cut-and-paste procedure by joining two identical vacuum spacetime solutions. Properties such as the null energy condition and geodesics are also studied. A linear stability analysis around the static solutions is carried out. We consider the cosmology derived from $f(T,B)$ gravity where $T$ is the torsion scalar and $B=\frac{2}{e}\partial_{\mu}(e T^{\mu})$ a boundary term. In particular we discuss how it is possible to recover, under the same standard, the teleparallel $f(T)$ gravity, the curvature $f(R)$ gravity and the teleparallel-curvature $f(R,T)$ gravity, which are particular cases of $f(T,B)$. In this paper, we will analyse the holographic complexity for time-dependent asymptotically $AdS$ geometries. We will first use a covariant zero mean curvature slicing of the time-dependent bulk geometries, and then use this co-dimension one spacelike slice of the bulk spacetime to define a co-dimension two minimal surface. The time-dependent holographic complexity will be defined using the volume enclosed by this minimal surface. This time-dependent holographic complexity will reduce to the usual holographic complexity for static geometries. We will analyse the time-dependence as a perturbation of the asymptotically $AdS$ geometries. Thus, we will obtain time-dependent asymptotically $AdS$ geometries, and we will calculate the holographic complexity for such a time-dependent geometries., Comment: Accepted for publication in Physics letter B

Recently, it was formulated a teleparallel theory called $f(T,B)$ gravity which connects both $f(T)$ and $f(R)$ under suitable limits. In this theory, the function in the action is assumed to depend on the torsion scalar $T$ and also on a boundary term related with the divergence of torsion, $B=2\nabla_{\mu}T^{\mu}$. In this work, we study different features of a flat Friedmann-Lema\^{i}tre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) cosmology in this theory. First, we show that the FLRW equations can be transformed to the form of Clausius relation $\hat{T}_hS_{\rm eff}=-dE+WdV$, where $\hat{T}_h$ is the horizon temperature and $S_{\rm eff}$ is the entropy which contains contributions both from horizon entropy and an additional entropy term introduced due to the non-equilibrium. We also formulate the constraint for the validity of the generalised second law of thermodynamics (GSLT). Additionally, using a cosmological reconstruction technique, we show that both $f(T,B)$ and $-T+F(B)$ gravity can mimic power-law, de-Sitter and $\Lambda$CDM models. The holographic complexity and fidelity susceptibility have been defined as new quantities dual to different volumes in AdS. In this paper, we will use these new proposals to calculate both of these quantities for a variety of interesting deformations of AdS. We obtain the holographic complexity and fidelity susceptibility for an AdS black hole, Janus solution and a solution with cylindrically symmetry, an inhomogeneous background and a hyperscaling violating background. It is observed that the holographic complexity depends on the size of the subsystem for all these solutions and the fidelity susceptibility does not have any such dependence., Comment: Slighly updated version. In this paper, we will regularize the holographic entanglement entropy, holographic complexity and fidelity susceptibility for a configuration of D3-branes. We will also study the regularization of the holographic complexity from action for a configuration of D3-branes. It will be demonstrated that for a spherical shell of D3-branes the regularized holographic complexity is always greater than or equal to than the regularized fidelity susceptibility. Furthermore, we will also demonstrate that the regularized holographic complexity is related to the regularized holographic entanglement entropy for this system. Thus, we will obtain a holographic bound involving regularized holographic complexity, regularized holographic entanglement entropy and regularized fidelity susceptibility of a configuration of D3-brane. A gravitational theory of a scalar field non-minimally coupled with torsion and boundary term is considered with the aim to construct Lorentzian wormholes. Geometrical parameters including shape and redshift functions are obtained for these solutions. We adopt the formalism of Noether Gauge Symmetry Approach in order to find symmetries, Lie brackets and invariants (conserved quantities). We investigate modified theories of gravity in the context of teleparallel geometries with possible Gauss-Bonnet contributions. The possible coupling of gravity with the trace of the energy-momentum tensor is also taken into account. This is motivated by the various different theories formulated in the teleparallel approach and the metric approach without discussing the exact relationship between them. Our formulation clarifies the connections between different well known theories. For instance, we are able to formulate the correct teleparallel equivalent of Gauss-Bonnet modified general relativity, amongst other results. Finally, we are able to identify modified gravity models which have not been studied in the past. Motivated by recent proposals of possible wormhole existence in galactic halos, we analyse the cosmological evolution of wormhole solutions in modified $f(R)$ gravity. We construct a dynamical wormhole that asymptotically approaches FLRW universe, with supporting material going to the perfect isotropic fluid described by the equation of state for radiation and matter dominated universe respectively. Our analysis is based on an approximation of a small wormhole - a wormhole that can be treated as matched with the FLRW metric at some radial coordinate much smaller than the Hubble radius, so that cosmological boundary conditions are satisfied. With a special interest in viable wormhole solutions, we refer to the results of reconstruction procedure and use $f(R)$ functions which lead to the experimentally confirmed $\Lambda$CDM expansion history of the Universe. Solutions we find imply no need for exotic matter near the throat of considered wormholes, while in the limit of $f(R)=R$ this need is always present during radiation and matter dominated epoch., Comment: Slighly updated version. First and second laws of black hole thermodynamics are examined at the apparent horizon of FRW spacetime in $f(R,R_{\alpha\beta}R^{\alpha\beta} ,\phi)$ gravity, where $R$, $R_{\alpha\beta}R^{\alpha\beta}$ and $\phi$ are the Ricci scalar, Ricci invariant and the scalar field respectively. In this modified theory, Friedmann equations are formulated for any spatial curvature. These equations can be presented into the form of first law of thermodynamics for $T_{h}d\hat{S}_{h}+ T_{h}d_{i}\hat{S}_{h}+W dV=dE$, where $d_{i}\hat{S}_{h}$ is an extra entropy term because of the non-equilibrium presentation of the equations and $T_{h}d\hat{S}_{h}+W dV=dE$ for the equilibrium presentation. The generalized second law of thermodynamics (GSLT) is expressed in an inclusive form where these results can be represented in GR $f(R)$ and $f(R, \phi)$ gravities. This study is conducted to examine the validity of generalized second law of thermodynamics (GSLT) in flat FRW for modified teleparallel gravity involving coupling between a scalar field with the torsion scalar $T$ and the boundary term $B=2\nabla_{\mu}T^{\mu}$. This theory is very useful since it can reproduce other important well-known scalar field theories in suitable limits. The validity of the first and second law of thermodynamics at the apparent horizon is discussed for any coupling. As examples, we have also explored the validity of those thermodynamics laws in some new cosmological solutions under the theory. We study the finite time singularity correspondence between the Jordan and Einstein frames for various $F(R)$ gravity theories. Particularly we investigate the ordinary pure $F(R)$ gravity case and the unimodular $F(R)$ gravity cases, in the absence of any matter fluids. In the ordinary $F(R)$ gravity cases, by using specific illustrative examples, we show that it is possible to have various correspondences of finite time singularities, and in some cases it is possible a singular cosmology in one frame might be non-singular in the other frame. In the unimodular $F(R)$ gravity case, the unimodular constraint is affected from the conformal transformation, so this has an effect on the metric we choose. Moreover, we study the Einstein frame counterpart theory of the unimodular $F(R)$ gravity case, and we investigate the correspondences of the singularities in the two theories by considering specific illustrative examples. Finally, a brief dynamical system analysis is performed for the vacuum unimodular $F(R)$ gravity and we demonstrate how the dynamical system behaves near the future Big Rip singularity.

In this paper, we study the accretion process for fluids flowing near a black hole in the context of $f(T)$ teleparallel gravity. Specifically, by performing a dynamical analysis by a Hamiltonian system, we are able to find the sonic points. After that, we consider different isothermal test fluids in order to study the accretion process when they are falling onto the black hole. We found that these flows can be classified according to the equation of state and the black hole features. Results are compared in $f(T)$ and $f(R)$ gravity., Comment: 13 pages, 7 figures. We investigate the accretion process for different spherically symmetric space-time geometries for a static fluid. We analyse this procedure using the most general black hole metric ansatz. After that, we examine the accretion process for specific spherically symmetric metrics obtaining the velocity of the sound during the process and the critical speed of the flow of the fluid around the black hole. We propose a new model in the teleparallel framework where we consider a scalar field nonminimally coupled to both the torsion $T$ and a boundary term given by the divergence of the torsion vector $B=\frac{2}{e}\partial_\mu (eT^\mu)$. This is inspired by the relation $R=-T+B$ between the Ricci scalar of general relativity and the torsion of teleparallel gravity. This theory in suitable limits incorporates both the nonminimal coupling of a scalar field to torsion, and the nonminimal coupling of a scalar field to the Ricci scalar. We analyse the cosmology of such models, and we perform a dynamical systems analysis on the case when we have only a pure coupling to the boundary term. It is found that the system generically evolves to a late time accelerating attractor solution without requiring any fine tuning of the parameters. We investigate modified theories of gravity in the context of teleparallel geometries. It is well known that modified gravity models based on the torsion scalar are not invariant under local Lorentz transformations while modifications based on the Ricci scalar are. This motivates the study of a model depending on the torsion scalar and the divergence of the torsion vector. We derive the teleparallel equivalent of $f(R)$ gravity as a particular subset of these models and also show that this is the unique theory in this class that is invariant under local Lorentz transformation. High-precision observational data have confirmed with startling evidence that the Universe is currently undergoing a phase of accelerated expansion. This phase, one of the most important and challenging current problems in cosmology, represents a new imbalance in the governing gravitational equations. Historically, physics has addressed such imbalances by either identifying sources that were previously unaccounted for, or by altering the gravitational theory. Several candidates, responsible for this expansion, have been proposed in the literature, in particular, dark energy models and modified gravity models, amongst others. Outstanding questions are related to the nature of this so-called "dark energy" that is driving this acceleration, and whether it is due to the vacuum energy or a dynamical field. On the other hand, the late-time cosmic acceleration may be due to modifications of General Relativity. We investigate the gravitational lensing scenario due to Schwarzschild-like black hole surrounded by quintessence (Kiselev black hole). We work for the special case of Kiselev black hole where we take the state parameter $w_{q}=-\frac{2}{3}$. For the detailed derivation and analysis of the bending angle involved in the deflection of light, we discuss three special cases of Kiselev black hole: non-extreme, extreme and naked singularity. We also calculate the approximate bending angle and compare it with exact bending angle. We found the relation of bending angles in the decreasing order as: naked singularity, extreme Kiselev black hole, non-extreme Kiselev black hole and Schwarzschild black hole. In the weak field approximation, we compute the position and total magnification of relativistic images as well.

We reconsider the cosmological model discussed by Sung-Won Kim [Phys. Rev D 53, 6889 (1996)] in the context of Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmologies with a traversable wormhole, where it is assumed that the matter content is divided into two parts: the cosmic part that depends on time only and the wormhole part that depends on space only. The cosmic part obeys the barotropic equation of state $p_c=\gamma \rho_c$. The complete analysis requires further care and reveals more interesting results than what was previously shown by the author. In this paper we study $(N+1)$-dimensional evolving wormholes supported by energy satisfying a polytropic equation of state. The considered evolving wormhole models are described by a constant redshift function and generalizes the standard flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker spacetime.
