International audience; This paper introduces a method for offshore oil slick detection. At present, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is an image acquisition technology useful for oil slick detection in all weather conditions. It is used to carry out the detection, with notable limitations under certain conditions (surfaces, weather conditions). Manual SAR images analysis is expensive and, given the increasing amount of data collected from available sensors, automation becomes mandatory. To achieve this objective, instance object detection relying on deep neural networks is interesting to adapt to the data variability. Relying on such an approach, this article explores the capabilities of generalizing the detection of slicks on large datasets using the Mask-RCNN model. A detailed performance analysis is established in two complementary directions: (i) the impact of the SAR image characteristics(sensor, geographical areas, lookalike presence), (ii) the impact of the neural network architecture, transferred capabilities and training procedures. The main findings of this analysis show that Mask-RCNN features promising performance for pollution detection.; Ce document présente une méthode de détection d'hydrocarbures sur la surface de mer. A présent, le radar à ouverture synthétique (SAR) est une technologie d'acquisition d'images utile pour la détection des nappes de pétrole dans toutes les conditions météorologiques. Il est utilisé pour effectuer la détection, avec des limitations notables dans certaines conditions (surfaces, conditions météorologiques). L'analyse manuelle des images SAR est coûteuse et, étant donné la quantité croissante de données collectées par les capteurs disponibles, l'automatisation devient obligatoire. Pour atteindre cet objectif, la détection d'objets par exemple en s'appuyant sur des réseaux neuronaux profonds est intéressante pour s'adapter à la variabilité des données. S'appuyant sur une telle approche, cet article explore les possibilités de généraliser la détection des nappes sur de grands ensembles de données en utilisant le modèle Mask-RCNN. Une analyse détaillée des performances est établie dans deux directions complémentaires : (i) l'impact des caractéristiques de l'image SAR (capteur, zones géographiques, présence de sosies), (ii) l'impact de l'architecture du réseau neuronal, des capacités transférées et des procédures de formation. Les principaux résultats de cette analyse montrent que le Mask-RCNN présente des performances prometteuses pour la détection de la pollution.

Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) is a non-destructive high-resolution sensor, which is currently under significant development to analyze geological areas with remote devices or natural samples in a laboratory. In both cases, the hyperspectral image provides several sedimentary structures that need to be separated to temporally and spatially describe the sample. Sediment sequences are composed of successive deposits (strata, homogenite, flood) that can be visible or not depending on sample properties. The classical methods to identify them are time-consuming, have a low spatial resolution (millimeter), and are generally based on a naked-eye counting. In this study, we propose to compare several supervised classification algorithms for the discrimination of sedimentological structures on lake sediments. Instantaneous events in lake sediments are generally linked to extreme geodynamical events (e.g., floods, earthquakes), their identification and counting are essential to understand long-term fluctuations and improve hazard assessments. This is done by reconstructing a chronicle of event layer occurrence, including estimation of deposit thicknesses. Here we applied two hyperspectral imaging sensors (Visible Near-Infrared VNIR, 60 μm, 400-1000 nm; Short Wave Infrared SWIR, 200 μm, 1000-2500 nm) on three sediment cores from different lake systems. We highlight that the SWIR sensor is the optimal one to create robust classification models with discriminant analyses. Indeed, the VNIR sensor is impacted by the surface reliefs and structures that are not in the learning set, which lead to miss-classification. These observations are also valid for the combined sensor (VNIR-SWIR). Several spatial and spectral pre-processing were also compared and allowed to highlight discriminant information specific to a sample and a sensor. These works show that the combined use of hyperspectral imaging and machine learning improves the characterization of sedimentary structures in laboratory conditions.

This paper aims to analyze, within Le Corbusier’s creative universe, how the notion of right angle assumes different aspects until it become an important concept of his thought on the relationship between building, city and landscape. Starting from the autobiographical book The poem right angle (Le poème de l’angle droit, 1951-55), the paper intendstoconnectverses and images of this work to passages from Le Corbusier’s writings, conferences and trips drawings between 1911 and 1936, especially addressing his journey for Eastern Europe to Athens and those two trips to South America, where its most fruitful relationship occurred in Rio de Janeiro. By connecting this material with some emblematic works from the Purist period of his painting, such as The fireplace (La chaminée, 1918), it is revealed how the concept in question has an eminently visual dimension. With this panorama, the investigation seeks to present a right angle divided between a totalizing technical and a total freedom of creation, expressing the architect’s unresolved dilemmas. Com este artigo objetiva-se analisar como a noção de ângulo reto, no interior do universo criativo de Le Corbusier, assume distintos aspectos até se cristalizar em um importante conceito de seu pensamento sobre a relação entre edifício, cidade e paisagem. Partindo do livro autobiográfico O poema do ângulo reto (Le poème de l’angle droit ,1951-55), busca-se traçar pontes entre alguns versos e imagens dessa obra e trechos de seus escritos, conferências e desenhos das viagens entre 1911 e 1936, abordando sobretudo seu périplo pelo leste europeu até Atenas e aquelas duas viagens à América do Sul, onde sua relação mais profícua se deu no Rio de Janeiro. Da aproximação desse material com algumas obras emblemáticas do período purista de sua pintura, como A lareira (La chaminée, 1918), evidencia-se como o conceito em questão tem uma dimensão eminentemente visual. Com este panorama, a investigação busca apresentar um ângulo reto dividido entre a técnica impositora e a liberdade total de criação, expressando os dilemas não resolvidos do próprio arquiteto.

Cette thèse est divisée en trois parties. Une première section présente les résultats de l'étude de la formation de polarons magnétiques liés (BMP) dans le ferroaimant EuB6 par diffusion de neutrons à petits angles (SANS). La nature magnétique du système ferromagnétique est observée sous une température critique de 15K. La signature des BMP n'apparaît pas dans la diffusion de neutrons, mais ces mesures permettent de confirmer une limite inférieure de 100\AA à la longueur de cohérence des BMP (xi_{Lower}). Dans un second temps, l'étude du LaRhSi3, un supraconducteur sans symétrie d'inversion, par muSR et ZF-muSR nous permet de sonder le comportement magnétique du système dans la phase supraconductrice. Aucun champ magnétique interne n'a été détecté en ZF-muSR sous la température critique (T_c = 2.2K). Cela indique que la phase supraconductrice ne porte pas de moment cinétique intrinsèque. L'analyse du spectre d'asymétrie sous l'application d'un champ magnétique externe nous apprend que le système est faiblement type II par l'apparition de la signature de domaines magnétiques typique d'un réseau de vortex entre H_{c1}(0) et H_{c2}(0), respectivement de 80+/- 5 et 169.0 +/- 0.5 G. Finalement, la troisième section porte sur l'étude du champ magnétique interne dans l'antiferroaimant organique NIT-2Py. L'observation d'une dépendance en température des champs magnétiques internes aux sites d'implantation muonique par ZF-muSR confirme la présence d'une interaction à longue portée entre les moments cinétiques moléculaires. Ces valeurs de champs internes, comparées aux calculs basés sur la densité de spins obtenue par calculs de la théorie de la fonctionnelle de la densité, indiquent que la moitié des molécules se dimérisent et ne contribuent pas à l'ordre antiferromagnétique. La fraction des molécules contribuant à l'ordre antiferromagnétique sous la température critique (T_c = 1.33 +/- 0.01K) forme des chaines uniformément polarisées selon l'axe (1 0 -2). Ces chaines interagissent antiferromagnétiquement entre elles le long de l'axe (0 1 0) et ferromagnétiquement entre les plan [-1 0 2]., This thesis is divided in three sections. The first section presents the results from a small angle neutron scattering (SANS) investigation of the formation of bound magnetic polarons in the ferromagnet EuB6. While the magnetic nature of the system was observed below 15K, we could not resolve the q dependent signature of the polarons, thus putting a lower limit of 100\AA to the coherence length of the phenomenon (xi_{Lower}). Secondly, we investigated the non-centrosymmetric superconductor LaRhSi3 by muSR. The absence of an internal field below T_c = 2.2 K in ZF-muSR, indicates that the superconducting wave function does not carry an intrinsic magnetic moment. The asymmetry spectrum taken under external magnetic field shows the magnetic signature associated with vortices between H_{c1}(0) and H_{c2}(0), respectively 80 +/- 5 and 169.0 +/- 0.5 G, suggesting the system is weakly type-II. Finally, the third section presents the zero field muSR study of internal magnetic fields in the organic antiferromagnet NIT-2Py. The temperature dependent oscillating signal in the ZF-muSR spectrum confirms the presence of a long-range magnetic interaction between the molecules. By comparing the measured internal magnetic fields to calculated values based on density fonctional theory calculations, we confirm that half the molecules dimerizes while the other half forms the antiferromagnetic order under the critical temperature (T_c = 1.33 +/- 0.01K). In this antiferromagnetic order, the moments on the magnetic molecules are uniformly aligned along the (1 0 -2) axis. They interact antiferromagnetically along the (0 1 0) axis and ferromagnetically between the [-1 0 2] planes.

RÉSUMÉ. Dans un monde guidé par les données, la classification est un outil essentiel pour ai- der les utilisateurs à appréhender la structure de ces données. Les techniques d'apprentissage supervisé permettent d'obtenir de très bonnes performances lorsque l'on dispose d'une base an- notée, mais un risque de sur-apprentissage existe toujours. Il existe de nombreuses techniques de classification non supervisée qui cherchent à construire la structure des données sans dispo- ser de données d'entraînement. Mais dans des contextes difficiles les résultats sont moins bons que ceux de l'apprentissage supervisé. Pour améliorer les performances, un bon compromis est d'apporter de la connaissance seulement sur les éléments (classes et objets) ambigües. Dans ce contexte, cet article s'intéresse au Clustering Spectral et à l'ajout de contrainte par paires. Nous introduisons une nouvelle généralisation de la propagation des contraintes qui maximise la qualité de partitionnement tout en réduisant les coûts d'annotation.

This study responds to an industrial demand of repair using an arc welding process. It concerns an aeronautical piece made in 6061 aluminium alloy. The first part of the study is devoted to the comparison of processes Metal Inert Gas (MIG), pulsed MIG, Tungsten Inert Gas and MIG Cold Metal Transfer (CMT). It is the latter process that was selected for its special abilities, such as its good control of parameters and the low damaging produced in the base metal. Then, two filler alloys were tested – 5356 and 6061 aluminium alloys– with two repairing strategies : welding and building up. The results of mechanical tests showed that building up with aluminum 5356 is most suitable option for this application. The trials on the real piece showed the relevance of this approach.The heat affected zone generated by the arc welding process in the 6061 base metal was also characterized. It was shown a varaition of microstructure associated with the change of mechanical properties in this zone. Finally, exploratory trials of homogeneous arc welding, i.e., with the 6061 filler alloy showed that it was possible, with certain conditions, to weld without generating weld cracking, although, this aluminium is deemed unweldable by this way.; Cette étude répond à une demande industrielle de réparation d’une pièce aéronautique en alliage d’aluminium 6061 à l’aide d’un procédé de soudage à l’arc. La première partie est consacrée à la comparaison des procédés Metal Inert Gas (MIG), MIG pulsé, Tungsten Inert Gas et MIG Cold Metal transfer (CMT). C’est ce dernier procédé qui a été sélectionné pour ses aptitudes particulières, comme son bon contrôle des paramètres et le faible endommagement produit dans le métal de base. Puis, deux métaux d’apport ont été testés – les alliages 5356 et 6061 – avec deux stratégies de réparation : le soudage et le rechargement. Les résultats d’essais mécaniques ont démontré que le rechargement avec l’aluminium 5356 est l’option la plus adaptée pour cette application. Les essais sur pièce réelle ont prouvé la pertinence de cette approche.La zone affectée thermiquement générée, dans l’alliage 6061, par les procédés de soudage à l’arc a également été caractérisée. Il a été mis en évidence une variation de la microstructure associée aux changements de propriétés mécaniques de cette zone. Enfin, les essais exploratoires de soudage homogène à l’arc, c’est-à-dire, avec le métal d’apport en 6061, ont prouvé qu’il était possible, dans certaines conditions, de souder sans générer de fissuration, bien que, cet aluminium soit réputé comme étant insoudable de cette manière.

A Chebyshev series is an expansion in the basis of Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind. These series are important in approximation theory. Unlike Taylor series, their algorithmic aspects are not very developed in computer algebra. This thesis proposes new algorithms for these series. A first part gives fast algorithms that convert a truncated Chebyshev series into a truncated Taylor series and vice versa, and others that multiply or divide two truncated Chebyshev series. The rest of the thesis is devoted to Chebyshev series that are solutions of a linear differential equation with polynomial coefficients. In this class, the coefficients of series are solutions of a linear recurrence. This thesis show how to compute this recurrence efficiently, then how to use it for the efficient computation of approximated coefficients despite numerical instabilities. These algorithms lead to an efficient computation of the approximation by polynomials of fixed degree on a segment for solutions of linear differential equations. Finally, the computation of recurrences for the coefficients of series is generalized to the case of generalized Fourier series. The document is illustrated by examples using implementations developed during this thesis.; Une série de Tchebychev est un développement dans la base des polynômes de Tchebychev. Ces séries sont importantes en théorie de l'approximation. Contrairement aux séries de Taylor, l'algorithmique en calcul formel autour d'elles n'est pas très développée. Cette thèse propose de nouveaux algorithmes pour ces séries. Une première partie présente des algorithmes rapides pour convertir une série de Tchebychev tronquée en une série de Taylor tronquée et réciproquement, et pour multiplier ou diviser deux séries de Tchebychev tronquées. Le reste de la thèse porte sur les séries de Tchebychev solutions d'une équation différentielle linéaire à coefficients polynomiaux. Dans cette classe, les coefficients des séries sont solutions d'une récurrence linéaire. Cette thèse montre comment calculer cette récurrence efficacement, puis comment l'utiliser pour obtenir un calcul approché efficace des coefficients malgré des instabilités numériques. Ces algorithmes mènent au calcul efficace d'une approximation sur un segment par un polynôme de degré fixé d'une fonction solution d'une équation différentielle linéaire. Enfin, le calcul des récurrences pour les coefficients de séries est généralisé au cas des séries de Fourier généralisées. L'ensemble est illustré d'exemples à partir de programmes développés durant cette thèse.

This paper explains the methodology followed to teach the subject `Digital control of power converters'. This subject belongs to the research master on `Industrial Electronics' of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The subject is composed of several theoretical lessons plus the development of an actual digital control. For that purpose an ad hoc dc-dc converter has been designed and built. The use of this board together with some software tools seems a very powerful way for the students to learn the concepts from the design to the real world

The main objective of this work is the design and implementation of the digital control stage of a 280W AC/DC industrial power supply in a single low-cost microcontroller to replace the analog control stage. The switch-mode power supply (SMPS) consists of a PFC boost converter with fixed frequency operation and a variable frequency LLC series resonant DC/DC converter. Input voltage range is 85VRMS-550VRMS and the output voltage range is 24V-28V. A digital controller is especially suitable for this kind of SMPS to implement its multiple functionalities and to keep the efficiency and the performance high over the wide range of input voltages. Additional advantages of the digital control are reliability and size. The optimized design and implementation of the digital control stage it is presented. Experimental results show the stable operation of the controlled system and an estimation of the cost reduction achieved with the digital control stage.

Dans la première partie, nous présentons les résultats de l'étude du supraconducteur sans inversion de symétrie LaRhSi3 par spectroscopie muonique. En champ nul, nous n'avons pas détecté de champ interne. Ceci indique que la fonction d'onde de l'état supraconducteur n'est pas dominée par l'état triplet. Les mesures en champ transverse de 35G présentent une transition en accord avec la transition de phase attendue sous le champ critique Hc1. Nous avons répété ces mesures pour un champ entre Hc1 et Hc2, 150G. Le spectre obtenu pour ces mesures conserve l'asymétrie et relaxe rapidement à basse température tel que prédit pour un supraconducteur dans la phase d'Abrikosov. Néanmoins, les relaxations produites par ce balayage en température présentent une transition à près de 2 fois la température critique attendue. Dans la deuxième partie de ce mémoire, nous donnons l'interprétation des résultats de la diffraction neutronique inélastique par l'étude des champs électriques cristallins. Ces mesures ont été effectuées sur des aimants frustrés SrHo2O4 et SrDy2O4 sous la forme de poudre. L'étude des niveaux produits par les champs cristallins par la méthode des opérateurs de Stevens indique une perte du moment cinétique dans les deux matériaux. Pour le SrDy2O4, l'état fondamental serait constitué de quatre états dégénérés quasi accidentellement qui portent un moment magnétique total non-nul. Toute fois, nos mesures de susceptibilité magnétique ne montrent aucun ordre au-dessus de 50mK. Pour le SrHo2O4, le fondamental est formé d'une paire accidentelle. Nous obtenons un moment magnétique de 6.94(8)$\mu_B$ ce qui s'accorde avec les données expérimentales., In the first part of this thesis, we present our muon spectroscopy results of the non-centrosymmetric superconductor LaRhSi3. Zero magnetic field measurements showed no internal field, suggesting at most a very small triplet component in the superconducting wave function. A temperature scan taken in 35G transverse-field geometry showed a phase transition at Hc1. The asymmetry of the muon relaxation spectrum measured at 20mK and field of 150G, which is between the lower and upper critical fields, shows a faster relaxation rate compared to the spectrum obtained at 4K, a behaviour expected in the presence of vortices in the type II superconductor. However, the temperature dependence of the relaxation rate begins to increase all the way to a temperature twice Tc of LaRhSi3 in a field of 150G. In the second part of this document, we present the interpretation of inelastic neutron scattering by crystalline electric fields. These measurements were carried out on powder samples of frustrated quantum magnets SrHo2O4 and SrDy2O4. Using Stevens operators method, we determined the level scheme du to crystalline electric field effects using a point charge model and fitted it to the experimental data. For the SrDy2O4 we found a ground state that appears to be composed of four quasi-accidental degenerate states that carry a non zero magnetic moment even though susceptibility measurements did not indicate magnetic order above 50mK. For the SrHo2O4, the ground state is a pair with a 6.98(8)$\mu_B$ magnetic moment. This lat value fots with experimental data.

In this paper is presented a method of control of a power inverter with a DSP. The control is based on two PWMs that controlled a full bridge. Being an application for avionics, a slow branch has a frequency of 400Hz. In order to have precision in the final waveform, the fast branch of the full bridge is 40 kHz, what prevents a calculation time of 25µs for the computation for all the system. In addition, a communication protocol has been implemented to be able to put the inverters in a parallel mode and in three phase mode

En este artículo se presenta el control digital de un inversor de potencia embarcable en aviones basado en el control de un PWM con una modulación unipolar del tipo rama lenta – rama rápida. En este caso, la rama lenta tiene una frecuencia de 400Hz (frecuencia de salida). Para tener precisión en la forma de onda de salida, la modulación en frecuencia (mf) es de 100, así que la rama rápida conmuta a 40kHz lo que supone un tiempo de cálculo de 25µs para la computación del lazo de corriente y el lazo de tensión. Además, se ha implementado un protocolo de comunicación para poder poner los inversores tanto en paralelo como en trifásico. El objetivo del articulo es de implementar un control de un inversor de potencia en un DSP de bajo coste

The aim of this work is to demonstrate that the human visual modelling yields to effi cient tools dedicated to image processing. The benefi ts are directly related to the human visual system properties and give the ability to solve common major problems encountered in image analysis such as noise reduction, details enhancement, back light correction. We propose a set of low level image processing tools which realize specifi c processing such as contours extraction, spectrum analysis, event detection. These tools are combined in order to create high level image analysis and we propose in this manuscript two examples: a face analyser which extracts eye blinks, yawnings, head motion, this application being applied to hypovigilance detection for drivers. The second considered application concerns general motion analysis and we propose a moving object tracker able to eliminate noise segmentation problems. Finally, we propose a bio-inspired algorithm for object identifi cation and classifi cation., L'objectif de ce travail est de mettre en évidence l'intérêt d'utiliser des modélisations du système visuel humain pour développer des outils de traitement d'images. En effet, il est reconnu que le SVH peut s'affranchir d'un certain nombre de diffi cultés couramment rencontrées en vision par ordinateur: les problèmes d'éclairage, les contre-jours, le bruit, etc. Nous proposons un ensemble de modules de traitement d'image bas niveau qui permettent de réaliser des tâches spécifi ques telles que l'extraction de contours, l'analyse spectrale et la détection de mouvement. Ces outils sont assemblés dans le but d'effectuer des tâches d'analyse de plus haut niveau. Nous présentons deux applications possibles: un système d'analyse du visage capable de détecter les clignements d'yeux, les bâillements, inséré dans un système de détection de l'hypovigilance chez le conducteur. Une seconde application traite de l'analyse du mouvement en général avec un système de suivi et de reconnaissance d'objets.

International audience; This project proposes to develop a driver simulator, which takes into account information about the user state of mind (level of attention, fatigue state, stress state). The user'sstate of mind analysis is based on video data and physiological signals. Facial movements such as eyes blinking, yawning, head rotations... are detected on video data: they are used in order to evaluate the fatigue and attention level of the driver. The user'selectrocardiogram and galvanic skin response are recorded andanalyzed in order to evaluate the stress level of the driver. A driver simulator software is modified in order to be able to appropriately react to these critical situations of fatigue andstress: some visual messages are sent to the driver, wheelvibrations are generated and the driver is supposed to react to the alertness messages. A flexible and efficient multi threaded server architecture is proposed to support multi messages sent bydifferent modalities. Strategies for data fusion and fission are also provided. Some of these components are integrated within the first prototype of OpenInterface (the Multimodal Similar platform).
