Consider a compact symplectic sub-orbifold groupoid $\sf S$ of a compact symplectic orbifold groupoid $(\mathsf X,\omega)$. Let $\mathsf X_{\mathfrak a}$ be the weight-$\mathfrak a$ blowup of $\sf X$ along $\sf S$, and $\mathsf D_{\mathfrak a}=\mathsf{PN}_{\mathfrak a}$ be the exceptional divisor, where $\sf N$ is the normal bundle of $\sf S$ in $\sf X$. In this paper we show that the absolute orbifold Gromov--Witten theory of $\mathsf X_{\mathfrak a}$ can be effectively and uniquely reconstructed from the absolute orbifold Gromov--Witten theories of $\sf X$, $\sf S$ and $\mathsf D_{\mathfrak a}$, the natural restriction homomorphism $H^*_{\text{CR}}({\sf X})\rightarrow H^*_{\text{CR}}({\sf S})$ and the first Chern class of the tautological line bundle over $\mathsf D_{\mathfrak a}$. To achieve this we first prove similar results for the relative orbifold Gromov--Witten theories of $(\mathsf X_{\mathfrak a}|\mathsf D_{\mathfrak a})$ and $(\mathsf N_{\mathfrak a}|\mathsf D_{\mathfrak a})$. As applications of these results, we prove an orbifold version of a conjecture of Maulik--Pandharipande on the Gromov--Witten theory of blowups along complete intersections, a conjecture on the Gromov--Witten theory of root constructions and a conjecture on Leray--Hirsch result for orbifold Gromov--Witten theory of Tseng--You., Comment: 44pages; some typos fixed; comments are welcome; accepted for publication in SCIENCE CHINA Mathematics

In this paper, we consider double ramification cycles with orbifold targets. An explicit formula for double ramification cycles with orbifold targets, which is parallel to and generalizes the one known for the smooth case, is provided. We analyse two-dimensional maps and radial profiles of EW(H$\alpha$), EW(H$\delta_A$), and D$_n$(4000) of low-redshift galaxies using integral field spectroscopy from the MaNGA survey. Out of $\approx1400$ nearly face-on late-type galaxies with a redshift $z<0.05$, we identify 121 "turnover" galaxies that each have a central upturn in EW(H$\alpha$), EW(H$\delta_A$) and/or a central drop in D$_n$(4000), indicative of ongoing/recent star formation. The turnover features are found mostly in galaxies with a stellar mass above $\sim$10$^{10}$ M$_{\odot}$ and NUV-$r$ colour less than $\approx5$. The majority of the turnover galaxies are barred, with a bar fraction of 89$\pm$3\%. Furthermore, for barred galaxies the radius of the central turnover region is found to tightly correlate with one third of the bar length. Comparing the observed and the inward extrapolated star formation rate surface density, we estimate that the central SFR have been enhanced by an order of magnitude. Conversely, only half of the barred galaxies in our sample have a central turnover feature, implying that the presence of a bar is not sufficient to lead to a central SF enhancement. We further examined the SF enhancement in paired galaxies, as well as the local environment, finding no relation. This implies that environment is not a driving factor for central SF enhancement in our sample. The propagation of terahertz waves in a dust acoustic wave is investigated numerically. By assuming a sinus profile of the dust number density in the dust acoustic waves, the transmission properties are calculated using finite difference time domain method. It shows that the dust acoustic wave can function similarly as a Bragg filter to block the terahertz waves of a certain wavelength. The bandwidth of the filter depends on the density profile of the dust acoustic wave.

The penetration of a supersonic particle at the interface was studied in a binary complex plasma. Inspired by the experiments performed in the PK-3 Plus Laboratory on board the International Space Station, Langevin dynamics simulations were carried out. The evolution of Mach cone at the interface was observed, where a kink of the lateral wake front was observed at the interface. By comparing the evolution of axial and radial velocity, we show that the interface solitary wave is non-linear. The dependence of the background particle dynamics in the vicinity of the interface on the penetration direction reveals that the disparity of the mobility may be the cause of various interface effects.

We develop a method to estimate the dust attenuation curve of galaxies from full spectral fitting of their optical spectra. Motivated from previous studies, we separate the small-scale features from the large-scale spectral shape, by performing a moving average method to both the observed spectrum and the simple stellar population model spectra. The intrinsic dust-free model spectrum is then derived by fitting the observed ratio of the small-scale to large-scale (S/L) components with the S/L ratios of the SSP models. The selective dust attenuation curve is then determined by comparing the observed spectrum with the dust-free model spectrum. One important advantage of this method is that the estimated dust attenuation curve is independent of the shape of theoretical dust attenuation curves. We have done a series of tests on a set of mock spectra covering wide ranges of stellar age and metallicity. We show that our method is able to recover the input dust attenuation curve accurately, although the accuracy depends slightly on signal-to-noise ratio of the spectra. We have applied our method to a number of edge-on galaxies with obvious dust lanes from the ongoing MaNGA survey, deriving their dust attenuation curves and $E(B-V)$ maps, as well as dust-free images in $g$, $r$, and $i$ bands. These galaxies show obvious dust lane features in their original images, which largely disappear after we have corrected the effect of dust attenuation. The vertical brightness profiles of these galaxies become axis-symmetric and can well be fitted by a simple model proposed for the disk vertical structure. Comparing the estimated dust attenuation curve with the three commonly-adopted model curves, we find that the Calzetti curve provides the best description of the estimated curves for the inner region of galaxies, while the Milky Way and SMC curves work better for the outer region., Comment: 27 pages, 16 figures, Accepted for publication in ApJ

In the most accessible terms this paper presents a convex-geometric approach to the study of fuzzy vectors. Motivated by several key results from the theory of convex bodies, we establish a representation theorem of fuzzy vectors through support functions, in which a necessary and sufficient condition for a function to be the support function of a fuzzy vector is provided. As applications, symmetric and skew fuzzy vectors are postulated, based on which a Mare\v{s} core of each fuzzy vector is constructed through convex bodies and support functions, and it is shown that every fuzzy vector over the $n$-dimensional Euclidean space has a unique Mare\v{s} core if, and only if, the dimension $n=1$., Comment: 23 pages, contents reorganized to emphasize the representation of fuzzy vectors through convex bodies

Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA) is acquiring integral-field spectroscopy for the largest sample of galaxies to date. By 2020, the MaNGA Survey --- one of three core programs in the fourth-generation Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV) --- will have observed a statistically representative sample of 10$^4$ galaxies in the local Universe ($z\lesssim0.15$). In addition to a robust data-reduction pipeline (DRP), MaNGA has developed a data-analysis pipeline (DAP) that provides higher-level data products. To accompany the first public release of its code base and data products, we provide an overview of the MaNGA DAP, including its software design, workflow, measurement procedures and algorithms, performance, and output data model. In conjunction with our companion paper Belfiore et al., we also assess the DAP output provided for 4718 observations of 4648 unique galaxies in the recent SDSS Data Release 15 (DR15). These analysis products focus on measurements that are close to the data and require minimal model-based assumptions. Namely, we provide stellar kinematics (velocity and velocity dispersion), emission-line properties (kinematics, fluxes, and equivalent widths), and spectral indices (e.g., D4000 and the Lick indices). We find that the DAP provides robust measurements and errors for the vast majority ($>$99%) of analyzed spectra. We summarize assessments of the precision and accuracy of our measurements as a function of signal-to-noise, and provide specific guidance to users regarding the limitations of the data. As groupoids generalize groups, motivated by group extensions we consider a kind of fibrations of Lie groupoids, called locally topological product Lie groupoid fibrations with fiber $\sf A$, i.e., \[ 1\rightarrow {\sf A} \rightarrow {\sf G} \rightarrow {\sf K}\rightarrow 1 \] where $\sf A,\sf G$ and $\sf K$ are Lie groupoids. Similar to the theory of group extensions, we show that the existence of locally topological product Lie groupoid fibrations with fiber $\sf A$ over $\sf K$ is obstructed by a groupoid cohomology of $H^3_{\bar \Lambda}({\sf K},Z_{\sf A})$, and these locally topological product Lie groupoid fibrations are classified by $H^2_{\bar \Lambda}({\sf K},Z_{\sf A})$ once exists. Here $Z_{\sf A}$ is the center of $\sf A$.
