71. Robust Calibration of Vehicle Solid-State Lidar-Camera Perception System Using Line-Weighted Correspondences in Natural Environments

Abstract

With the rapid development of autonomous driving and SLAM technology, the perception system of a vehicle heavily relies on laser and image sensors to capture the real-world scenario and avoid obstacles autonomously. To achieve accurate and robust multi-sensor fusion computation, high-precision extrinsic calibration of camera and laser scanner is a necessary requirement. Traditional multi-sensor calibration methods based on manual features rely on specific scenarios and may not provide feature information over long distances. In this paper, we present a novel approach for robustly calibrating the extrinsic parameters of a solid-state(SS) lidar-camera system in a natural environment. Our proposed method begins with obtaining robust line feature information. we first innovatively employ a super-voxel clustering method to extract global 3D line features from the complete point cloud and then back-project these 3D line features into 2D space. Afterward, a transformer-based edge detection network, EDTER, is used to detect the edge features and estimate the probability pixel-by-pixel. To consider the uncertainty of two-dimensional line features and the inconsistency of residuals at different distances, we construct a line feature weight model for line feature residual calculation. Finally, we minimize the residual errors using least squares optimization to recover the relative pose of the camera and the lidar sensor. We conducted a performance study to compare our proposed method against existing targetless calibration methods on various natural scenarios. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method achieves higher robustness, accuracy, and consistency, making it suitable for real-world applications.

Abstract

Control over the self-assembly of micro- and nano-scopic building blocks is highly important but very challenging in the fabrication of many hierarchical composite materials. We prepared a novel electrospun nanofiber on the basis of Pickering emulsion synergy-stabilized by titanium dioxide/modified sodium alginate/polyoxyethylene(TiO2/Ugi-Alg/PEO). The emulsion stability was evaluated using turbiscan stability index, rheology and confocal laser scanning microscope. The results showed that TiO2/Ugi-Alg/PEO could form a relatively thick interfacial particle film at the oil-water interface, which was helpful to reduce the extent of agglomeration among droplets due to the steric hindrance mechanism. Pickering emulsion was utilized as a template to prepare nanofibers with uniform and orderly distribution of TiO2 by electrospinning technology, which had a good photodegradation effect on pesticide lambda-cyhalothrin residues. The self-assembly of nanoparticles at the oil-water interface and its combination with electrospinning technology to prepare nanofibers containing TiO2 photodegradation activity are expected to be a new strategy to avoid pesticide long persistence period in the soil environment. 74. New potential substitute of PVDF binder: poly(propylene carbonate) for solvent-free manufacturing high-loading cathodes of LiFePO4|Li batteries.

Abstract

For decades, the slurry coating has been used to manufacture lithium-ion battery electrodes. The process involves toxic and expensive organic solvents, followed by time- and energy-consuming vacuum drying. Herein, a solvent-free method for LiFePO4 cathode preparation using lithium-ion conductive and biodegradable poly(propylene carbonate) (PPC) as a binder is proposed. The cathode is prepared by simple ball milling and hot-pressing method. PPC with a glass transition temperature of 36.5 ℃ is processed at a rubbery state and PPC work as a binder at glassy state while battery running. Microscopically, amorphous PPC contains more polar carbonate groups that coordinate lithium ion at a medium strength to absorb and desorb lithium-ion, which is good for lithium-ion migration. PPC with good mechanical strength as the binder and artificial cathode electrolyte interface in LiFePO4 cathode reduces the internal resistance of the battery effectively and protects LiFePO4 from deformation, realizing the remarkable improvement of electrochemical performance of battery. The mass loading for the LiFePO4 cathode with PPC binder is up to 20 mg/cm2 and the initial discharge capacity of LiFePO4|Li batteries reach 141.9 mAh/g at 0.5 C, and the capacity retention is 79.1% after 800 cycles. Replacing high-cost and environment-polluting PVDF with low-cost and environment-friendly PPC, this solvent-free method will largely reduce the cost and emission of the lithium-ion battery industry. Abstract

Agrochemicals provide huge agronomic and economic benefits. However, excessive agrochemicals cause serious environmental pollution. The use of surfactants can effectively improve the utilization rate of agrochemicals in the soil, and an amphiphilic alginate derivative (Ugi-alg) was prepared in this work. This paper mainly discussed the affinity between Ugi-alg and soil colloids and the influence of Ugi-alg on the adsorption behavior of pesticides on colloidal particles. In the presence of 2.4 mM Ca2+, the affinity between soil colloids and Ugi-alg (30 mg/L) was enhanced (~ − 12.33 mV) compared with pure soil colloids (~ − 30 mV). The strong affinity between Ugi-alg and the colloids reduced the migration of acetamiprid. Transmission electron microscopy showed that soil colloids were wrapped by the network structure of Ugi-alg, indicating that Ugi-alg easily adhered to the surface of soil colloids. Studies of the adsorption showed the adsorption capacity of acetamiprid on soil colloids was 556 mg/g in the presence of Ugi-alg (30 mg/L) and Ca2+ (2.4 mM). And the adsorption behavior of acetamiprid in soil colloids was also not greatly affected by changes in pH and temperature.
