El objetivo del trabajo fue analizar la sustentabilidad de las unidades productivas cafeteras de la provincia de Guanentá, Santander. Se utilizó la metodología del marco para la evaluación de sistema de manejo de recursos naturales mediante indicadores de sustentabilidad (Mesmis) en donde se evaluó –además de los tres elementos convencionalmente aceptados para la sustentabilidad: social, económico, ambiental– el componente institucional, en concordancia con las nuevas tendencias del desarrollo rural. Los resultados indican que el disímil comportamiento de la sustentabilidad en las seis unidades productivas de los tres municipios evaluados trasciende la dimensión ambiental para concentrarse en indicadores sociales, económicos e institucionales, los cuales, con una mayor variabilidad dada por una mayor desviación típica, explican la diferencia entre las fincas cafeteras. Basado en los resultados se concluye que las unidades poseen un alto desempeño en la dimensión ambiental relacionado con la cultura cafetera de la certificación de cafés especiales en contraposición a una alta variabilidad en los indicadores sociales. Al respecto, la dimensión social posee la menor sustentabilidad y mayor variabilidad con respecto a las otras dimensiones de la sustentabilidad. El análisis multidimensional de la sustentabilidad permite conocer las brechas de las unidades productivas cafeteras para transitar hacia la sustentabilidad y omite la fragmentación contenida en el estudio de una dimensión en particular.

Background and Objetives: Currently, total knee arthroplasty is one of the most common surgeries, increasing with the increase in life expectancy. Whether or not to replace the patella has been a subject of debate over the years, remaining in controversy and without reaching a consensus. Over the years, different meta-analyses have been carried out in order to provide evidence on the subject, although, in recent times, there have not been many new studies in this regard. Therefore, it is considered necessary that the latest works form part of a new meta-analysis. Materials and Method: We searched the literature using PUBMED, SCOPUS, the Cochrane database and VHL from 2010 to 2020. The search terms used were “patellar” AND “resurfacing” OR “Replacement” and “no resurfacing” OR “no replacement”. A meta-analysis was performed with Stata software (Stata version 15.1). Forest plots were generated to illustrate the overall effect of knee arthroplasty interventions. Results: As a result, it was obtained that there is a significantly higher risk of suffering AKP in the non-resurfacing group, in addition to a significant increase in the risk of undergoing a reoperation in the non-resurfacing group. On the other hand, significant differences were obtained in favor of the resurfacing group in both the clinical and Feller KSS, with functional KSS being inconclusive. After analyzing different variables throughout the literature, it does seem clear that the non-resurfacing group may present a higher risk of reoperation than the resurfacing group. Conclusions: For all these reasons, we think that, although it does seem that not replacing the patella can precipitate a reoperation, it is not clear whether this reoperation is a direct consequence of not having replaced the patella. Therefore, in our opinion, the treatment must be individualized for each patient.

Introducción: los trastornos temporomandibulares constituyen un problema de salud importante que afecta a más del 50% de la población mundial en algún momento de su vida. Objetivo: evaluar la efectividad de la ozonoterapia para disminuir el dolor en los pacientes con trastornos temporomandibulares. Método: se realizó un estudio cuasi-experimental prospectivo en enfermos con trastornos temporomandibulares pertenecientes a la Clínica Estomatológica “Mártires de Sagua” atendidos en la Sala de Rehabilitación del Policlínico Docente “Idalberto Revuelta” en 2016. La muestra estuvo constituida por 30 pacientes, la selección se realizó a través de un muestreo no probabilístico por criterios y quedó conformada por un grupo experimental de 10 enfermos en los que se añadió la ozonoterapia al tratamiento convencional y un grupo control de 20 pacientes con solo tratamiento convencional. En ambos grupos se solicitó el consentimiento informado para participar en la investigación según el tratamiento asignado y brindar datos acerca de su evolución. Resultados: predominaron las edades entre 50 y 59 años y el sexo femenino; antes del tratamiento predominó la intensidad del dolor moderada y los indicadores empleados para valorar la evolución clínica mostraron resultados porcentualmente superiores en el grupo experimental. Conclusiones: la modalidad de tratamiento que combina la terapia convencional con el ozono es más efectiva que la aplicación de la terapia convencional sola en los pacientes con trastornos temporomandibulares.

Postoperative bleeding with its important socioeconomic cost is associated with an increased morbidity and mortality. It causes hemodynamic instability, increases blood loss, and multiplies the number of transfusions required. Especially in vascular or aortic surgery, postoperative bleeding can become a life-threatening complication due to anticoagulant or antiaggregation preoperative status or postoperative coagulation dysfunction after a high level of heparinization. Presently described is the case of a patient who underwent an aortic valve and ascending aorta replacement. A simple but effective method to achieve hemostasis, designed particularly for aortic surgery and the use of Dacron grafts, is presented. No residual adherence or contraindications exist, and it can potentially be applied to any kind of surgical process. This method offers a cheap, biocompatible, and highly effective means to achieve complete hemostasis without the use of extra sutures, or expensive synthetic or allogeneic hemostatic agents or sealants.

La conclusión del monumental templo monasterial de San Julián de Samos (Lugo) en 1748 fue posible gracias a la cesión de los derechos de impresión y reimpresión y los beneficios de la venta de los seis primeros tomos del Theatro Crítico Universal (1726, 1728, 1729, 1730, 1733 y 1734) y de la Ilustración apologética (1729) que en 1734 el padre Benito Jerónimo Feijoo (1676-1764) hizo a la que había sido la casa de su noviciado y profesión religiosa (1690 y 1692). El dato era conocido de la erudición, pues ya dio noticias el padre fray Martín Sarmiento, amigo y corresponsal de Feijoo además de cronista de la orden benedictina, en un informe manuscrito de 1743 (publicado en 1879), y fray Eladio de Nóboa (1765) y, a partir de ellos, se ha venido repitiendo, aunque sin convicción. Publicamos ahora ese documento de 1734 y, a su vista y de la obra literaria del padre Feijoo, hacemos algunas observaciones sobre la fábrica barroca del monasterio de Samos. Los últimos datos aportados por la Comisión Europea señalan que la demencia afecta actualmente a casi cincuenta millones de personas en todo el mundo y que cada año se detectan 7.7 millones de nuevos casos. A día de hoy, el Alzheimer es la demencia más padecida por la población mundial pudiendo constituir en términos relativos el 70% de las demencias. En la actualidad no existen tratamientos farmacológicos que den una respuesta definitiva a este tipo de patologías. Las utilizaciones de terapias no farmacológicas abren un amplio abanico de posibilidades desde el ámbito de la prevención, y de la mejora de la calidad de vida en cuidadores y familiares de enfermos con demencia, básicamente con sintomatología de “sobrecarga”. En este articulo hacemos una revisión sobre investigaciones relacionadas con la “atención plena” ( MF) y de su implementación como estrategias potenciales en el abordaje de este tipo de patologías. Los últimos trabajos aportados con técnicas morfométricas por neuroimagen constituyen un importante avance a la hora de intentar aportar evidencia científica en este campo.

Introducción y objetivos: El grupo de Trabajo de en Reparación Valvular de la Sociedad Española de Cirugía Torácica y Cardiovascular presenta el quinto registro anual de actividad en cirugía reparadora de la válvulas mitral, aórtica y tricúspide realizada en España en el año 2015. Material y métodos: La recogida de datos se realizó a través de cuestionario on-line, de forma retrospectiva, voluntaria, anónima y no auditada. Se detallan parámetros en cuanto al tipo de cirugía, etiología, mortalidad y riesgo quirúrgico, tanto en el grupo global con en pacientes electivos. Resultados: Se obtuvieron datos de 31 centros, con 9.112 intervenciones reportadas. La cirugía mitral reparadora supone el 29,6% de las válvulas mitrales intervenidas, con una amplia diferencia relativa a la etiología del proceso, así como muy diferente perfil de riesgo. La tasa de cirugía reparadora aórtica continua en ascenso respecto a la sustitución valvular, aunque con gran variación intergrupos. La cirugía valvular tricúspide es mayoritariamente reparadora con uso de anillos con un número estable en el tiempo de reemplazos valvulares. Conclusiones: La actividad reparadora mitral está establecida en la mayoría de los grupos, siendo muy dependiente de etiología. Se observa un incremento en la tasa de reparación valvular aórtica y permanece estabilizada la actividad sobre la válvula tricúspide.

A 52-year-old male patient, who underwent mitral replacement with a mechanical prosthesis as a child, sustained a cardiac arrest which was successfully resuscitated. Further investigation showed prosthesis malfunction with significant regurgitation in the context of multi-organ failure. In such a life-threatening condition, veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation was considered as a rescue procedure to achieve optimisation of clinical status to allow definitive surgical treatment. Introduction: Ageing is a natural process which is accompanied by a gradual decline of both functional, cognitive and affective capacities which can make it hard for somebody to lead a normal daily life in a normal way since the performance is influenced and cognitive, sensorial, motor and emotional skills can be altered. Non-pharmacological interventions are very important when it comes to cover the various problems that the elderly present. Snoezelen therapy or multisensorial stimulation is highly relevant for patients with dementia and cognitive damage with the aim of creating interaction between the person, the task and the environment by means of the activation of the various senses, experimenting different types os feelings. Aim: To prove the effect that an occupational therapy intervention has on a Snoezelen environment as a means to boost cognitive, sensorial, motor and emotional skills on patients with minor, moderate and severe cognitive damage and its repercussion on their quality of life. Methodology: It deals with a quasi-experimental study with a pre and post assessment, data are collected by means of MMSE, Barthel and Cornell tools. Results: After carrying out the corresponding statistic analysis, no significative results at a cognitive, affective and functional level were found, except at the affective level where severe damage was found. Discussion: Although this article does not show the effectiveness of the intervention in a Snoezelen environment in a significant way, various studies prove its effectiveness, particulary at a cognitive and behavioural level. Conclusion: The results seem to denote that an intervention in a Snoezelen environment during a short time span does not show any type of repercussion.

The Center where the study is carried out works with the model of care centered on the person, as fundamental objective intends to maintain or improve the operation in several areas of his life, promoting social skills on residents in an individualized manner. The experience is carried out in two nursing of day (one as a control group and one experimental), directed by two occupational therapists and caregivers fixed in each one of them, located in the residence for greater Los Royales. After making an assessment prior to the residents (cognitive, physical, functional, everyday and affective life skills) and knowing their social skills and peculiarities of aging in an individualized manner, the experimental group are given guidelines to their caregivers that develop a small plan of attention focused on the person that enhances your skills and be able to personal autonomy to promote the maintenance of their capabilities and even see if this improvement is experienced in the resident. Results: The experimentation is carried out for three weeks, and then a statistical analysis with nonparametric tests, where notes the effectiveness in different areas.

Introduction: Intellectual disability presents a series of clinical manifestations that affect psychological, emotional, social, and functional level. The Mindfulness aims to change the relationship that people have with daily activities, trying to point them at the present moment. In this way you will know better answers in the Middle, and you will favour emotional regulation, and behavioral. Objective: Demonstrate the effect of applying the Mindfulness technique as a means to improve communication skills and social in people with intellectual disabilities from occupational therapy. Methodology: Type longitudinal, quasi-experimental study. Collected data about the social skills of the users and the facets of the Mindfulness, using the EHS and FFMQ scales respectively. The intervention was carried out with the Mindfulness technique in 8 sessions of 45 minutes. And a sample of 12 users, with an average age of 40 years (DT = ± 8,21307). Results: Were statistically significant improvement in self-expression in social situations and in the beginning of positive interactions with the opposite sex. Conclusions: Scores have improved in all the variables in the post-test, but not all in a meaningful way. Likely to increase the number of sessions would increase the probability of finding more significant results.

This paper aims to study the mechanisms that the Moroccan religious elite utilizes to preserve their stability recruiting leaders of feminist religious reformism. Our goals are to: study the elites and the feminist religious leadership in Morocco; describe the characteristics, nature and distribution of the Moroccan elites; review the political power, religious state and Islamic religious order in Morocco; analyze the feminist religious movement in Morocco; and investigate the process of cooptation of feminist religious leaders by the religious state elites. The methodology employed is qualitative and the selected data production technique has been life history. In conclusion we can say that the co-option by the official religious elites of a feminist religious leader demonstrates that the mechanism of circulation of the elites in Morocco is used to ensure their survival.

This research has been motivated by the need to address the development of a Protocol for The Implementation of NTF in homes for the elderly which will contribute to strength the concept of “patient adherence.” . The economic impact of non- adherence in elderly people is very high and impinges directly on increasing readmissions, hospitalizations, adverse medical outcomes, etc ... This Protocol is a proposal of action under European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP 2016-2018) and is classified as an improvement tool when addressing the principle of complementarily between pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies, empowering patients with dementia and their careers, the models of quality services provided to residents, and active communication with the patient, professional, the health personalized itineraries, all assisted by the innovative use of ICT.

Objetivos: Durante los últimos años el número de pacientes de avanzada edad que presentan insuficiencia cardíaca congestiva se ha incrementado de manera dramática. En el contexto del estancamiento global del trasplante cardíaco nace la necesidad de una terapia definitiva alternativa para estos pacientes. Recientemente, los dispositivos de asistencia ventricular izquierda (DAVI) han experimentado un auge, sobrepasando incluso el número de pacientes trasplantados mundialmente. El desarrollo tecnológico de los nuevos dispositivos y el surgimiento de nuevas técnicas quirúrgicas derivados de la cirugía cardíaca mínimamente invasiva han formado parte de este desarrollo. El propósito del presente estudio fue revisar la primera serie de implantes de DAVI mínimamente invasivo en pacientes septuagenarios. Métodos: El diseño del ensayo clínico es monocéntrico prospectivo. Se incluyó a todos los pacientes mayores o iguales a 70 años que requirieron un implante de DAVI (HVAD, HeartWare Inc.) como terapia de destino durante los años 2013 y 2015 en la Medizinische Hochschule Hannover. El seguimiento concluyó luego de 2 años. Todos los pacientes fueron operados por una técnica mínimamente invasiva compuesta por una miniesternotomía en «J» y una toracotomía lateral izquierda. Resultados: Un total de 14 pacientes fueron incluidos (edad 71,8 ± 1,5 años, 100% hombres, miocardiopatía isquémica 64,3%). El 50% de los casos correspondía a una reoperación, un 7,1% recibió soporte mecánico circulatorio previo. Todos los pacientes fueron operados utilizando circulación extracorpórea (CEC) (tiempo medio de CEC 51 ± 8 min). El tiempo promedio de permanencia en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos fue de 6,4 ± 5,2 días. Eventos adversos en el transcurso postoperatorio temprano fueron: reintervención quirúrgica por sangrado 7,1%, falla ventricular derecha 14,3% y diálisis 14,3%. Los niveles de supervivencia fueron: 30 días: 85,7%, un año: 78,6%, y 2 años: 70,7%. Conclusiones: Nuestros resultados iniciales demuestran que el implante mínimamente invasivo de DAVI puede ser realizado de manera eficaz, segura y con buenos resultados en pacientes septuagenarios terapia de destino. Los bajos niveles de eventos adversos durante el seguimiento por 2 años demuestran que la terapia de destino puede ser realizada incluso en pacientes septuagenarios.

Objective: To implement an Occupational Therapy treatment in elderly people with dementia and frailty Method: A longitudinal study of a sample of 23 users, 14 women and 9 men aged between 71 and 92 is performed, the average age 84.66 years, users of a residence, presenting frailty and dementia. Carried out an initial assessment and final tests with Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) and Dementia Apathy Interview and Rating (DAIR), participants attend occupational therapy sessions. Statistical analysis: it was performed nonparametric Wilcoxon, Spearman correlation and Mann Whitney U test. Results: We observed that the levels of fragility do not improve, there is no relationship of age with frailty, the level of apathy does not decrease with the intervention, there is no difference in the score of apathy or fragility by sex. Conclusions: the results indicate a maintenance of vital functions on both scales, which can be considered beneficial when dealing with degenerative processes.

The incidence of skull deformity in infants and its relation to some aspects of further development, is a matter of concern to professionals from different areas such as health, psychology, education and the family environment of the patient. To this end, an investigation was conducted with a sample of 38 infants who had cranial deformity from a 18-month longitudinal study carried out in primary care base Burgos Center. Brunet Lezine scale was used to assess the development in some areas. The results showed that those infants who had right cranial deformity, scored lower on the language area of the scale, those who had left cranial deformity. While some caution in the interpretation of results is needed, one could infer that the deformity, the backlash effect of the brain, do not allow the proper expansion of the area of language in these cases. The multidisciplinary treatment and monitoring could also be key to improving the prognosis.

El desarrollo como estrategia que mitiga el conflicto es la apuesta dominante en los procesos de intervención en el espacio rural. No obstante, esta situación ignora que la estructura agraria como fenómeno que evidencia la cuestión agraria se ha construido con el permanente pulso entre conflicto y desarrollo. El documento hace parte del referente conceptual para analizar las categorías conflicto y desarrollo en el territorio campesino. Se propone la trialectica espacial como alternativa para la comprensión del campesinado y sus lógicas disimiles a las contenidas en sus procesos de intervención rural.

We present the case of how a massive proximal deep vein thrombosis result of an unknown recurrence of a previously colonic malignancy treated, classically known Trousseau´s Syndrome, can mimic symptoms of severe peripheral arterial disease in a patient affected of peripheral chronic arterial disease surgically treated. Trousseau´s Syndrome is commonly associated with serious and chronic diseases and a variety of paraneoplastic thromboembolic disorders. Thrombotic episodes may precede the diagnosis of cancer and be the potential marker for an unknown and occult malignancy. We highlight the key points of the Trousseau´Syndrome and those paraneoplastic vasculopathies related that can mimic a vascular disease or complication.

This paper aims to analyze the various feminist and women´s movements in Morocco and its movement to the Moroccan diaspora in France. Our objectives are, on the one hand, to study the feminist and women´s movements from their inception to the present day, and on the other hand, to understand the speeches of the militant migrant Moroccan women in France and their strategies of integration and militancy. In this analysis, we discover how the integration of militants into the host society is not homogeneous, nevertheless, the exercise of militancy reaches its peak due to the increased recognition of the skills of these women in the fight for the rights of Moroccan women.

This paper draws the final conclusions of the research carried out over the last two years in the framework of the ERGOnomic WORK places European project ERGO WORK, together with the complementary contributions made by the Association INFAD in relation to the implementation of ergonomic systems in the field of employment and disability. As an innovative tool of this study, highlight the set of recommendations that have already been raised to the European Commission, with the aim of contributing to the improvement goals set in this regard by the EU, in addition to those related to the Spanish State, with direct competence in the same. The philosophy of Design for All has become a key topic of interest in the current national and European context, which, as we will demonstrate, provides concrete solutions so that environments, products, services and systems can be used by as many as possible of people responding to inclusive models and attention to diversity. The research has been carried out through a Consortium of six European countries and ten partners. The main objective of this work is improving the energy efficiency of HVAC's systems of the two hotels in theHavana city at Cuba. For it, the advanced techniques of control are used, through the nonlinear predictivecontrols. Prediction of the cooling load of the rooms in the hotels are obtained using the Radiant Time Seriesmethod, (RTS). All the calculations and off-line tuning were developed in MATLAB® programming language.

Ellos definen sus múltiples labores como maestro. Dentro de la locación institucional del magisterio, ejerció en repetidas ocasiones la función de antólogo. Esta fue su manera de recuperar la tradición que le arrebatara la experiencia del exilio y la estrategia que implementó en la formación de seres estéticos más allá de las aulas. El libro ...del jardín de don Alfonso llega a nosotros como un documento que recrea el diálogo que sostuvo el asturiano con los escritos de Alfonso Reyes. De manera temprana (1907-1927), el regiomontano había creado las bases para el intercambio cultural entre los intelectuales españoles y latinoamericanos. Hacer del hispanismo un espacio habitable y un corredor de intercambio cultural fue el interés común de estos dos pensadores. Este ámbito histórico, sentimental y estético le brindaba una unidad superior a todos los participantes, sin menoscabo de sus prerrogativas. En su faceta de antólogo, por tanto, Gracia engrosa las filas del Estado Estético que Robert Conn rastrea en la obra de Reyes: el marco donde la cultura de una comunidad es representada por las instituciones del arte y la literatura.

La factibilidad financiera es fundamental para tomar decisiones en un sistema productivo; en consecuencia, toda actividad agropecuaria debe hacer uso de dicha herramienta, a fin de obtener mayor comprensión de su ejercicio financiero y, a la vez, tener un soporte objetivo para determinar, entre otras cosas, si continuar con la actividad, diversificarla, combinarla o arrendar el espacio físico donde se realiza (1). El objetivo de este trabajo fue realizar una evaluación financiera en el sistema de producción de la papa Solanum tuberosum, variedad Diacol capiro, de manera participativa y con la inclusión de indicadores históricos, en función de horizontes de tiempo y tasa de oportunidad. La población objeto del estudio correspondió a 32 agricultores de papa inscritos en la Empresa Prestadora de Servicios Técnicos Agropecuarios (Epsagro) del municipio de Oicatá, departamento de Boyacá, para el año 2014, de los cuales se seleccionaron tres productores (grande, mediano y pequeño) para realizar la investigación. Los resultados indican que el diagnóstico rural participativo fue una herramienta de investigación adecuada para la compilación de la información, además de la existencia de diferencias en la estructura de costos de producción en los diferentes agricultores. En el municipio de Oicatá se encontró que existen fallas relevantes a nivel operativo y contable que deben ser corregidas.

El emprendimiento es una realidad que se nos presenta optimista en cuanto a posibilidades de desarrollo, progreso y bienestar. Las políticas económicas de los países más avanzados animan y promueven acciones para que sus ciudadanos pongan en marcha sus ideas de negocio y generen sus propios puestos de trabajo. En la presente investigación nos centraremos en el aspecto educativo que tradicionalmente se ha vinculado positivamente con el emprendimiento formal. La figura del emprendedor es clave a la hora de generar transformaciones de tipo social y merece la pena acercarse no solo a su visión personal sino también a la percepción que de estos promotores tienen los diferentes grupos de edad. En este sentido, la Universidad de Burgos a través del Programa Interuniversitario de la Experiencia y en el marco de la formación para personas mayores, pone en marcha acciones concretas para conocer las necesidades, experiencias y expectativas de los mayores universitarios en relación con el emprendimiento. Consideramos de gran importancia que la Universidad, como institución de larga trayectoria en el campo del saber, apoye los procesos de emprendimiento con todos los recursos a su alcance, entre ellos, el gran capital humano que no solo se encuentra entre su profesorado o personal, sino también en sus aulas, principalmente en las de las personas mayores. Mostramos en la presente investigación los resultados iniciales del estudio cualitativo implementado a través de un grupo de discusión en el que los mayores han dialogado sobre el concepto de emprendimiento, motivos, ayudas, formación y competencias. Los resultados nos servirán de base para futuras propuestas e intervenciones.

In this paper the synthesis and tuning of a predictive controller of insulin administration in an artificial pancreas, by simulation, are presented. This work required the study of the behavior of insulin’s concentration in the human pancreas, the obtaining experimental data in diabetic patients, the modeling and identification of this behavior in the different metabolic faces and the simulation and tuning of advanced controller for the insulin administration in exact doses for diabetic patients.

A 56-year-old female patient was transferred due to the presence of a left supraclavicular pulsatile mass. Further work-up was performed to confirm diagnosis. Angiography and computed tomography were also performed. The anatomy of the thoracic aorta suggested an unknown and untreated aortic coarctation. A second aortic narrowing was identified at the aortic arch, a result of elongation of the aorta. Endovascular approach was not possible, due to complexity of the aortic anatomy, and tortuosity. Open surgical repair was successfully performed. A primary coarctation-related isthmus aneurysm is an exceptional finding in adults, and is a life-threatening condition when diagnosis is delayed. Management and treatment are controversial and challenging.

Se realizó la presentación de un caso con un tumor de células gigantes en el extremo distal del fémur derecho a nivel del cóndilo femoral interno. Se retira quirúrgicamente, previo estudio, donde se confirmó el diagnóstico a través de la biopsia. En dicho proceder se efectuó un raspado extenso de la lesión respetando la superficie articular del cóndilo femoral, rellenando la cavidad con la hidroxiapatita HAP-200 ®, sin necesidad de apoyar dicho acto con una osteosíntesis interna o externa, sólo con una calza de yeso por 6 semanas. El seguimiento del paciente ha sido, hasta la fecha, de 6 años y no se ha reportado ninguna recidiva o metástasis, con una osteointegración positiva del biomaterial, lográndose la curación ósea y una función articular sin restricción.

Process control is an essential part of the desalination industry that requires to be controlled at theoptimum operating conditions to guarantee an increase in the life time of the plant and reduction of theunit product cost. Desalination is a highly complex process, so the majority of dynamic models are ofthe form of Multi-Inputs-Multi-Outputs (MIMO) systems. Controlling a MIMO system is a complexoperation because of the interconnections between the inputs and the influence of each one of them onthe system outputs. In this paper, we present the MIMO dynamic model that was developed for a twostageReverse Osmosis (RO) desalination system at AICA Laboratories. The purpose of this researchwas to apply a new control strategy to the system based on a Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm.The control system proposed was simulated through computer by using Simulink/Matlab software.The simulation results show the efficiency of the proposed controller based on MPC strategy and canbe useful to increase knowledge in control processes in reverse osmosis desalination systems.

Se da noticia de un trabajo juvenil de José Benito Churriguera (1665-1725): la sillería del coro del desaparecido convento de Santo Tomás de Aquino (orden de Predicadores) de Madrid, labrada en 1688-1691 y destruida, al parecer, en 1872. La referencia está publicada en la Vida, virtudes y exercicios del Illmo. y Revmo. Sr. D. F. Thomás Reluz, obispo de Oviedo, escrita por fray Manuel José de Medrano, un raro impreso publicado en Oviedo en 1718. Al hilo de esta investigación hemos estudiado la relación de los Churriguera con los dominicos y el obispo Reluz, lo que ha permitido puntualizar algunos extremos y circunstancias de la intervención de José Benito y sus hijos en las obras arquitectónicas del madrileño convento de Santo Tomás que venía siéndoles atribuida.

Advances in computer technology and the different medical images techniques such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and others, as well as its rapid introduction into social practice have created new possibilities in reconstructive surgery and replacement of tissues and organs. This article sets out very briefly the developments in the use of these techniques with some examples of their application in reconstructive surgery, in order to upgrade specialists about the potential of these technologies in this field. While the computer design allows modeling the different characteristics and properties of tissues, the data obtained by digital processing of medical images reveal, with high resolution, the shape and dimensions of different parts of the human body to repair or replace. The combined use of these technologies known as rapid prototyping technologies (RPT) has revolutionized reconstructive surgery of tissues and organs, allowing not only the manufacture of different types of custom implants but allowing action from training to planning the surgery itself. The methodological innovation is a hanging subject in the field of thesocial intervention and furthermore in a population sometimes of difficult accesssince she is the penitentiary population. In the measure that it allows the penitentiarystructure they can offer alternatives to relieve some lagoons of intervention,especially in the period before the putting at liberty. The authoress seeks toexpose the usefulness of some scenic technologies as alternative methodology inthe social intervention in prisons.

Introduction: The study of the neural networks involved in music processing has received less attention than work researching the brain's language networks. For the last two decades there has been a growing interest in discovering the functional mechanisms of the musical brain and understanding those disorders in which brain regions linked with perception and production of music are damaged. Discussion: Congenital and acquired musical deficits in their various forms (perception, execution, music-memory) are grouped together under the generic term amusia. In this selective review we present the “cutting edge” studies on the cognitive and neural processes implicated in music and the various forms of amusia. Conclusions: Musical processing requires a large cortico-subcortical network which is distributed throughout both cerebral hemispheres and the cerebellum. The analysis of healthy subjects using functional neuroimaging and examination of selective deficits (e.g., tone, rhythm, timbre, melodic contours) in patients will improve our knowledge of the mechanisms involved in musical processing and the latter's relationship with other cognitive processes. Resumen: Introducción: El estudio de las redes neuronales implicadas en el procesamiento de la música ha recibido menos atención que la dispensada al lenguaje proposicional. Desde hace dos décadas existe un interés creciente en conocer los mecanismos funcionales del cerebro musical y los trastornos que surgen del daño de las estructuras implicadas en la percepción y producción de la música. Uno de los temas de mayor relevancia en la literatura sobre desarrollo rural es la sustentabilidad de las actividades agrícolas y la búsqueda de nuevas opciones para las pequeñas unidades productivas. La cuantificación de la sustentabilidad es un reto, no sólo por la complejidad del estudio holístico de sus dimensiones, sino porque es vital para la comprensión política de sus efectos y para la intervención próxima a la realidad de sus afectados; para tal fin se abordó la metodología MESMIS (Marco para la Evaluación de Sistemas de Manejo de Recursos Naturales incorporando Indicadores de Sustentabilidad), como la herramienta que permite detectar, estandarizar y ponderar las tendencias y relaciones entre las diferentes dimensiones inherentes al concepto de sustentabilidad, mediante el uso apropiado de indicadores que conduzcan a la transformación de aspectos complejos en otros más claros, que revelan conductas a nivel de sistema. La sustentabilidad debe ser hecha operacional en cada contexto específico, a escalas relevantes para alcanzarla, y deben ser diseñados métodos apropiados para su medición a largo plazo.

In this work they intend several strategies for the control of the temperature in a drying rotational oven which is affected by the variations of the flow of matters cousins to the entrance of the drying oven. When varying the flow of matters cousins it varies in a drastic way the temperature inside the drying oven imposing an expense of additional fuel to reestablish the conditions of nominal operation. For the obtaining of the mathematical pattern of the process of variation of temperature in function of the flow of fuel a pseudo random multilevel signal (PRMLS) was used. The results of the simulation of each one of the proposed control strategies, using the pattern of the plant obtained by means of identification, they are compared in function of design specifications, robustness and characteristic of the temporary response.

La intervención en el espacio rural, como apuesta preferente de desarrollo, plantea la necesidad de una educación cercana a la comprensión de la complejidad existente en este medio. Lo anterior requiere de profesionales que vinculen en su formación académica los condicionantes existentes en lo que hoy se conoce como nueva ruralidad. El texto muestra la metodología construida para captar la percepción que los estudiantes de la Facultad de Ciencias agropecuarias de la Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia tienen respecto a la nueva ruralidad como concepto que intenta comprender los cambios que ocurren en el espacio rural contemporáneo. A partir de una tipología de la nueva ruralidad, con la escala de Likert se agrupan las apreciaciones de la comunidad estudiantil para finalmente determinar los factores que explican la variabilidad existente entre dichas actitudes. Los resultados indican que la globalización económica, la pluriactividad y el territorio son los principales factores que explican la variabilidad existente en las actitudes de los estudiantes respecto a la nueva ruralidad.

Progressive dyspnea after myocardial infarction can suggests the presence of left ventricular (LV) dysfunction or a left ventricular aneurysm (LVA). Surgical treatment of LVA aims to reduce its volume and to restore the ventricle. Recurrence of LVA after previous repair is extremely rare and the occurrence of concomitant postoperative true and false aneurysms is extraordinary. Surgery is usually challenging because of LV dysfunction and cardiac adherences in reoperations. We describe the simultaneous occurrence in a patient of a recurrent true and false LVA after surgical repair of a postinfarction LVA. Five years postoperatively, the patient remains alive and healthy. Resumo: A dispneia progressiva após o enfarte do miocárdio pode sugerir a presença de disfunção ventricular esquerda (VE) ou a formação de aneurisma ventricular esquerdo (AVE). Os procedimentos cirúrgicos concebidos para o seu tratamento visam reduzir o volume e a reparação do VE. A recidiva de AVE após a reparação anterior é extremamente rara e a concomitância de aneurismas verdadeiros e falsos pós-operatórios não é vulgar. A cirurgia é geralmente um desafio por causa da disfunção VE e das aderências cardíacas em reoperações. Apresentamos a concomitância num doente de um AVE verdadeiro e falso recorrente após reparação cirúrgica de um AVE pós-enfarte do miocárdio. Cinco anos após a cirurgia, o doente mantém-se vivo e saudável.
