In the proposed article, an attempt was made to highlight the features of the conceptual apparatus of historical science in Ukraine in the light of modern methodological searches, one of the essential aspects of which is the question of the specificity and potential of scientific knowledge. In particular, the efforts and achievements of Ukrainian scientists in the study and understanding of the process of formation of the conceptual apparatus of historical science in Ukraine are highlighted. They characterized both «weaknesses» and achievements in the scientific activity of domestic historians-scientists in the field of developing the terminology system of their studies, traced the reasons for the lack of unity among them regarding several topical issues, first of all, the specifics of historical knowledge, as well as outlined the urgency and promising ways overcoming these problems at different theoretical and methodological levels. The opinion is substantiated that the definition of key concepts of historical science and their proper rethinking, coordination, unification, and redefinition according to the needs of time and the development of world science is essential for a professional historian. At the same time, it is shown that historical science, not only on the territory of Ukraine but also in the world in general, largely did not accept the achievements of science in the field of logic and renewal of the foundations of cognitive activity, perception of the world as a system, etc. The necessity of rethinking its foundations by modern historical science is revealed in connection with revolutionary changes in modern science and technology development, which forms the prerequisites for another cognitive turn. n this context, the definition of the concept of «history,» which is central for historians, as well as the related concepts of «historical fact,» «historical regularity,» «methodological canon,» etc., needs to be rethought by Ukrainian historians., У пропонованій статті здійснено спробу висвітлення особливостей понятійного апарату історичної науки в Україні у світлі сучасних методологічних пошуків, одним з найважливіших аспектів яких є питання про специфіку і потенціал наукового пізнання. Висвітлено зокрема зусилля і здобутки українських вчених у вивченні й осмисленні процесу становлення понятійного апарату історичної науки в Україні. Ними було охарактеризовано як «слабкі місця», так і здобутки в науковій діяльності вітчизняних вчених-істориків в галузі розробки терміносистеми їх студій, простежено причини відсутності єдності серед них щодо низки актуальних питань, насамперед специфіки історичного пізнання, а також окреслено нагальність і перспективні шляхи подолання цих проблем на різних теоретико-методологічних рівнях. Авторами статті обґрунтовується думка про те, що не лише визначення вузлових понять історичної науки, але і їх належне переосмислення, узгодження, уніфікація та перевизначення згідно потреб часу та розвитку світової науки є засадничими для історика-професіонала. Водночас показано, що історична наука не лише на теренах України, але і в світі загалом значною мірою не сприйняла здобутків наукознавства у сфері логіки й оновлення засад пізнавальної діяльності, сприйняття світу як системи тощо. Розкрито необхідність потреби переосмислення сучасною історичною наукою своїх основ у зв’язку з революційними змінами в розвитку сучасної науки і техніки, що формує передумови для чергового пізнавального повороту. У цьому контексті потребує переосмислення вченими-істориками України насамперед визначення центрального для вчених-істориків поняття «історія», а також пов’язаних з ним понять «історичний факт», «історична закономірність», «методологічний канон» та ін.

The article examines the features of the initial stage of the historiography of the Great Patriotic War, the tradi-tions of which were laid down in the 1930s and were directly related to the reformatting of historical science into an ideologically charged instrument of agitation and propaganda. As a result of the reforms of higher education in the 1920s and the repressions against scholars, the continuity of the academic principles of historical research was violat-ed, which led to a split in historical science. Those scholars who studied the events in the modern and recent history of Russia and the USSR, including military history, found themselves in a particularly difficult situation. Military history, which emerged as an independent direction in the 1920s, determined the topics and approaches to the analysis of the events of the Civil War, and later the Great Patriotic War. During the war years, a characteristic of the studies of the Great Patriotic War was their epic nature, focused on the description of the feat of the Soviet people. The conceptual model of the war was detailed in Stalin's speeches and replicated in academic works and textbooks in the post-war period. Ivan Rybalka is a well-known historian, teacher, doctor of science, professor at Kharkov University. For more than 50 years he worked at the Department of History of Ukraine, studied the events of the period 1917-1920. Ivan Rybalka founded a scientific school. Under his leadership, young scientists successfully conducted research on the history of Ukraine. He is the author of more than 200 studies, including the most systematized and generalized textbook on the history of Ukraine for students of history. Graduates of the Faculty of History appreciate the knowledge and experience they received from Іvan Rybalk, a talented teacher and experienced scientist.

Historiographical research of the issues of the social history of Russian society in the second half of the XVIII century is based on the analysis of a wide range of published materials of the pre-revolutionary period of the development of Russian historical science. The relevance of the study is due to the attention of researchers to the history of estates, the social history of the province and pre-revolutionary Russia as a whole. The authors of the pre-revolutionary period recorded with special care not only significant events from the point of view of the social, economic and political agenda, but also carefully described the social structure of provincial society on the basis of a wide range of sources, which made it possible to study the social position of estates in the structure of provincial society, the process of acquiring rights and privileges from the state for some and the process of enslavement for others. The aim of the work is to generalize the research base of the pre-revolutionary period, taking into account the regional component, since provincial society not only reflected the general features of the development of society on the scale of the empire, but was also characterized by regional peculiarities. The subject of this study is the social history of the second half of the XVIII century. in the field of studying pre–revolutionary historiography. The result of the study was a comprehensive analysis of the works of pre-revolutionary authors, which reflected the social processes of the estate society of the Russian Empire of the studied period. The materials involved allowed us to conclude that researchers of the prerevolutionary period significantly involved in scientific circulation mass sources of administrative and church records, many of which are partially lost at the moment, which will make it possible to fill in these gaps in archival documents that have not survived to modern historians. The scope of this work is quite wide: from direct historiographical research to the study of the history of individual estates of the regions of the XVIII century., Историографическое исследование вопросов социальной истории русского общества второй половины XVIII в. выполнено на основе анализа широкого круга опубликованных материалов дореволюционного периода развития отечественной исторической науки. Актуальность исследования обусловлена вниманием исследователей к истории сословий, социальной истории провинции и дореволюционной России в целом. Авторы дореволюционного периода с особой тщательностью фиксировали не только значимые события с точки зрения социальной, экономической и политической повестки, но и тщательно описывали социальную структуру провинциального общества на основе широкого круга источников, что позволило изучить социальное положение сословий в структуре провинциального общества, процесс приобретения прав и привилегий от государства для одних и процесс закрепощения для других. Целью работы является обобщение исследовательской базы дореволюционного периода с учетом регионального компонента, поскольку провинциальное общество не только отражало общие черты развития социума в масштабах империи, но и характеризовалось региональными особенностями. Предмет изучения данного исследования – социальная история второй половины XVIII в. в поле изучения дореволюционной историографии. Результатом исследования стал комплексный анализ трудов дореволюционных авторов, в которых нашли свое отражение социальные процессы сословного общества Российской империи изучаемого периода. Привлеченные материалы позволили сделать вывод о значительном вовлечении в научный оборот исследователями дореволюционного периода массовых источников административного и церковного учета, многие из которых частично утрачены на данный момент, что позволит восполнить эти пробелы в архивных документах, не сохранившихся до современных историков. Questions about the formation of urban culture – the causes of urban settlements, internal and external factors in their formation, the role of cities in the economic, military-political, socio-cultural life of society are actual problems of historical science. The special significance of the early city as a historical and cultural center was realized by scientists of various directions from the first half of the XIX century. Every year researchers turn more and more to those distant times when cities were built, the foundations of urban settlements were laid in Azerbaijan. To determine the causes, time and patterns of the formation of the ancient city, to find out the historical conditionality, development trends at various historical stages is the goal and task of not only historians, archaeologists, but also researchers of other branches of knowledge. For a long time, scientists of Azerbaijan and the world have been studying the remains of ancient settlements of different periods. Today, serious systematic research has been carried out in some cities, survey work has just begun in others, and others are being localized. The periodization of the history of the study of urban planning processes in Azerbaijan has not been analyzed enough. The results of the analysis of available written sources, materials obtained in the course of archaeological research, are introduced into the historiography of the country's cities, scientific approaches and theoretical conclusions are summarized. In solving many issues on the history of ancient cities, the method of analyzing the degree of their study, systematization of scientific literature on the problems of these cities is of particular importance. The object of this article is the historical cities of Azerbaijan and the history of their archaeological research in the XVIII – early XX centuries. The article presents a brief overview of the history of archaeological research of historical Azerbaijani cities. The geographical scope of the work covers mainly the territories of northern (Republic of Azerbaijan) and partially southern (in the north-west of Iran) Azerbaijan. The aim of the work is to generalize and systematize materials on the history of the study of ancient cities of Azerbaijan on the basis of such methodological principles as historicism, scientific objectivity, consistency, comprehensiveness and critical analysis., Вопросы о становлении городской культуры – причины возникновения городских поселений, внутренние и внешние факторы в их формировании, роль городов в экономической, военнополитической, социально-культурной жизни общества являются актуальными проблемами исторической науки. Особое значение раннего города как историко-культурного центра осознавалось учеными самых разных направлений с первой половины XIX в. Исследователи с каждым годом все больше обращаются к тем далеким временам, когда строились города, закладывались основы городских поселений в Азербайджане. Определить причины, время и закономерности формирования древнего города, выяснить историческую обусловленность, тенденции развития на различных исторических этапах – цель и задача не только историков, археологов, но и исследователей других отраслей знания. На протяжении длительного времени учеными Азербайджана и мира исследуются остатки городищ разных периодов. Сегодня в одних городах проведены серьезные систематические исследования, в других только начаты изыскательные работы, третьи локализируются. Периодизация истории изучения градостроительных процессов в Азербайджане проанализирована недостаточно. Результаты анализа имеющихся письменных источников, материалы, полученные в ходе археологических исследований, внедряются в историографию городов страны, обобщаются научные подходы и теоретические выводы. В решении многих вопросов по истории древних городов особое значение имеет метод анализа степени их изученности, систематизация научной литературы по проблемам этих городов. Объектом настоящей статьи являются исторические города Азербайджана и история их археологического исследования в XVIII – начале ХХ вв. В статье представлен краткий обзор истории археологического исследования исторических азербайджанских городов. Географические рамки работы охватывают в основном территории северного (Республика Азербайджан) и частично южного (на северо-западе Ирана) Азербайджана.
