Abstract

An x-ray crystal structure study of 2-(2-methyl-2-propenyl)-1,3-cyclopentane-dione (C9H12O2) has been carried out. It has been shown that in the solid this compound occurs exclusively in the enol form. The molecules are bound together by strong hydrogen bonds and form infinite chains along the b-axis. According to the spectroscopic data (1H and13C NMR), the same compound in solution has a mesomeric structure.

96. PARACRINE'S FACTORS IN THE PATHOGENESIS OF THE POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME.

Abstract

Recently more and more studies in the sphere of polycystic ovaries syndrome (PCOS) are associated with the effect of para- and autocrine growth factors synthesized in the ovaries. A number of works in the ovarian physiology was devoted to the family of transforming growth factors, anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) being among them. We studied AMH and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in patients with PCOS and women constituting the control group by menstrual cycle phase. Increased IL-6 corresponds to the one of AMH. Thus, in the follicular phase AMH and IL-6 levels are confidently higher that in the luteal (P > 0.01). FSH synthesis peak can be observed at the moment. It should be noted that AMH secretion increases when the follicular atresia occurs. Luteal phase is characterized with the increase in LH level accompanied by the increase in IL-1β and TNFα, apoptosis process switching on. Studies on AMH and cytokines in women with PCOS showed that in those with PCOS and normal BMI concentration of AMH is higher by 1.75 times (P < 0.01). It was interesting to observe that in patients with PCOS and normal BMI but waist circumference (WC) ≥80 cm AMH level was confidently higher than the one in women with PCOS and WC <80 cm. In PCOS with the excess bode mass AMH level was confidently increase as compared with the one in women of other groups (P < 0.001). In compliance with the preliminary results found in women with normal MC in women with PCOS plasma AMH correlated with the amount of antral follicles. Increase in the amount of small antral follicles is reflected in 2-3-fold increment of AMH level. In the course of study we developed an index showing level of interrelation between family of anti-inflammatory cytokines and transforming growth factors (Il-6/AMH). In PCOS cytokine index decreases by increase in AMH level. We analyzed FMH values in various endocrine pathologies accompanied by hyperandrogenemia. Increased AMH content in the granulose cells of the ovaries can be seen in PCOA only, indicating the leading role of primarily ovarian factors in the onset and progression of disorders of steroido- and folliculogenesis. Our studies allowed determining clinical-diagnostic values of AMH. Values of AMH ≥ 19.81 pg/ml are the criterion for PCOS diagnosis verification. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
