The effects of data plotting, praise, and state lottery tickets were assessed separately or in various package forms in order to improve store managers' performance in a retail beverage chain. A multiple baseline across groups of stores showed decreases in cash shortages from praise, data plotting, or both. However, supplemental tangible reinforcement in the form of state-administered lottery tickets was the most effective.
