This paper examines how differential leadership influences employee performance via perceived organizational support and individual-organizational fit. The psychological contract theory was used to investigate how differential leadership influences the performance of employees. The information was obtained by means of surveys distributed to various types of Chinese firms. A total of 358 complete responses for statistical analysis were received and examined. A structural equation model was used, which we believed would be the most appropriate model for testing the proposed study model. The evidence suggests that differentiated leadership promotes employee performance. The association between leadership differences and employee performance is positively mediated by perceived organizational support. Individual-organizational fit lowers the positive effect of differential leadership on employee performance and reduces the positive effect of organizational support perception on employee performance. The results of this research contribute to a better understanding of Chinese culture’s differentiated interpersonal cordial leadership construct.

The objectives of this study were to investigate the effect of different dietary lipid levels on the serum biochemistry, antioxidant responses, initial immunity, and mTOR pathway of juvenile genetic improvement-farmed tilapia (GIFT, Oreochromis niloticus). Six groups of the juveniles (initial body weight 20.66 ± 1.33 g) in triplicate were fed for 90 days using six iso-nitrogen diets with different lipid levels (0.35%, 3.35%, 6.35%, 9.35%, 12.35%, and 15.35%). The main results were as follows: Compared with the control group (0.35%), the diets with different lipid supplementation significantly improved (p < 0.05) the contents of total protein (TP), albumin (ALB), globulin (GLB), glucose (GLU), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (T-CHO), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), malondialdehyde (MDA), complement 3 (C3), and immunoglobulin M (IgM), the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), catalase (CAT), lysozyme (LYZ), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP), the expression level of phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K), Akt protein kinase B (Akt), and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) genes in juvenile tilapia. However, diets with different lipid supplementation significantly reduced (p < 0.05) the expression level of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) genes of juvenile tilapia. In conclusion, the with different lipid supplementation could significantly affect the serum biochemistry, antioxidant responses, initial immunity, and mTOR pathway of juvenile tilapia.

We obtain the separability of mixed-norm Herz-slice spaces, establish a weak convergence on mixed-norm Herz-slice spaces, and get the boundedness of the Calderón–Zygmund operator T on mixed-norm Herz-slice spaces. Moreover, we get the necessary and sufficient conditions for the boundedness of the commutator [b,T] on mixed-norm Herz-slice spaces, where b is a locally integrable function.

Nutritional phosphate deficiency is a major limitation to plant growth. Here, we monitored fluxes in pathways supporting respiratory metabolism in potato (Solanum tuberosum) cell cultures growing in control or limiting phosphate conditions. Sugar uptake was quantified using [U-14C]sucrose as precursor. Carbohydrate degradation through glycolysis and respiratory pathways was estimated using the catabolism of [U-14C]sucrose to 14CO2. Anaplerotic carbon flux was assessed by labeling with NaH14CO3. The data showed that these metabolic fluxes displayed distinct patterns over culture time. However, phosphate depletion had relatively little impact on the various fluxes. Sucrose uptake was higher during the first six days of culture, followed by a decline, which was steeper in Pi-sufficient cells. Anaplerotic pathway flux was more important at day three and decreased thereafter. In contrast, the flux between sucrose and CO2 was at a maximum in the mid-log phase of the culture, with a peak at Day 6. Metabolization of [U-14C]sucrose into neutral, basic and acidic fractions was also unaffected by phosphate nutrition. Hence, the well-documented changes in central metabolism enzymes activities in response to Pi deficiency do not drastically modify metabolic fluxes, but rather result in the maintenance of the carbon fluxes that support respiration.

As one of the most common malignant tumors, melanoma is a serious threat to human health. More than half of melanoma patients have a BRAF mutation, and 90% of them have a BRAF(V600E) mutation. There is a targeted therapy for patients using a BRAF(V600E) inhibitor. However, no response to treatment is generally inevitable due to the heterogeneity of melanoma. Coupled with its high metastatic character, melanoma ultimately leads to poor overall survival. This study aimed to explore the possible mechanisms of melanoma metastasis and identify a more effective method for the treatment of melanoma. In this paper, we report that TCF12 expression is higher in melanoma, especially in metastatic tumors, through analyzing data from TCGA. Then, cell proliferation, colony formation, and transwell assays show that the upregulated expression of TCF12 can promote proliferation and metastasis of melanoma cells in vitro. The same result is confirmed in the subcutaneous tumor formation assay. Moreover, TGFB2 is identified as a direct downstream target of TCF12 by RNA-seq, qPCR, immunoblotting, ChIP, and a dual luciferase reporting assay. Interestingly, depletion of TCF12 can sensitize melanoma to BRAF inhibition both in vitro and in vivo. Overall, our results demonstrate that TCF12 promotes melanoma progression and can be a potential tumor therapeutic target.

Abstract Corrosive sulphur has been commonly regarded as an enormous threat to electrical power equipment in recent decades. Cuprous sulphide (Cu2S) deposition on the insulating oil and paper insulation caused by sulphur corrosion will bring about insulation deteriorations or failures in power transformers and shunt reactors. A large number of experiments have been carried out to investigate sulphur corrosion and some measures have been come up to solve this issue such as replacement of insulating oil, chemical removal of corrosive sulphur and the addition of passivator and so on. However, there has not been a perfect method to work out this problem completely, and the phenomenon of sulphur corrosion still occurs. This paper intends to provide thorough information of corrosive sulphur in power equipment and give detailed explanations about its corrosion mechanism, hazards and control measures, which is supposed to offer a reference for subsequent researchers.

Mn-based oxides are promising cathode materials for potassium-ion batteries due to their high theoretical capacity and abundant raw materials. However, the anisotropic properties of their conventional polycrystalline structures lead to insufficient rate capability and cycle life. Here, a single-crystal Mn-based layered oxide, P3′-type K0.35Mn0.8Fe0.1Cu0.1O2 (KMFCO), is designed and synthesized through a bimetallic co-induction effect and used as a cathode for potassium-ion battery. Benefiting from a unique single-crystal structure that is devoid of grain boundaries, it achieves a higher K+ transport rate and a reduced volume change during the K+ intercalation/deintercalation process. Accordingly, the single-crystal P3′-type KMFCO delivers superior rate capability (52.9 ​mAh ​g−1 at 1000 ​mA ​g−1) and excellent cycling stability (91.1% capacity retention after 500 cycles at 500 ​mA ​g−1). A full cell assembled with the P3′-type KMFCO cathode and a graphite anode also exhibits a high reversible capacity (81.2 ​mAh ​g−1 at 100 ​mA ​g−1) and excellent cycling performance (97% capacity retention after 300 cycles). The strategy of developing single-crystal materials may offer a new pathway for maintaining structural stability and improving the rate capability of layered manganese oxide cathodes and beyond.

Cereal vinegar is usually produced through solid-state fermentation, and the microbial community plays an important role in fermentation. In this study, the composition and function of Sichuan Baoning vinegar microbiota at different fermentation depths were evaluated by high-throughput sequencing combined with PICRUSt and FUNGuild analysis, and variations in volatile flavor compounds were also determined. The results revealed that no significant differences (p > 0.05) were found in both total acid content and pH of vinegar Pei collected on the same day with different depths. There were significant differences between the bacterial community of samples from the same day with different depths at both phylum and genus levels (p 0.05) was observed in the fungal community. PICRUSt analysis indicated that fermentation depth affected the function of microbiota, meanwhile, FUNGuild analysis showed that there were variations in the abundance of trophic mode. Additionally, differences in volatile flavor compounds were observed in samples from the same day with different depths, and significant correlations between microbial community and volatile flavor compounds were observed. The present study provides insights into the composition and function of microbiota at different depths in cereal vinegar fermentation and quality control of vinegar products.

Mine microseismic signal denoising is a basic and crucial link in microseismic data processing, which influences the accuracy and reliability of the monitoring system, and is of great significance with regard to safety during mining. Therefore, this study introduces a deep learning method to improve the mapping function and sparsity of signals in the time-frequency domain and constructs a denoising framework based on a deep convolutional autoencoder to address the denoising problem of mine microseismic signals. First, all noisy microseismic signals are normalized to ensure the nonlinear expression ability of the constructed denoising framework. Then, the normalized signals are transformed into the time-frequency domain using the short-time Fourier transform (STFT), and the real and imaginary parts of time-frequency coefficients serve as the input of the deep convolutional autoencoder to output the masks of the effective and noise signals. Next, these masks are applied to the time-frequency coefficients of the noisy microseismic signals, and the time-frequency coefficients of the potentially effective and noise signals are estimated. Finally, inverse STFT is used to transform these time-frequency coefficients to the time domain to obtain the final denoised effective and noise signals. The constructed framework automatically learns rich features from synthetic data to separate the effective and noise signals, thereby achieving the purpose of fast and automatic denoising. The experimental results show that compared with the wavelet threshold and ensemble empirical mode decomposition, the denoising framework considerably improves the signal-to-noise ratio of mine microseismic signals with less waveform distortion. Moreover, it can achieve a better denoising effect efficiently even in the case of a low SNR, which has obvious advantages. The constructed denoising framework is suitable for microseismic monitoring signals of various mine dynamic disasters and provides strong technical support for intelligent monitoring and early warning concerning production risks in mines.

Background. Due to a lack of accessibility and individual differences in surgical procedures, many previous studies on keyholes are not practical. Objective. To study the surface landmarks for optimal keyhole placement in the retrosigmoid approach. Methods. The three-dimensional (3D) skull images of 79 patients were reconstructed using workstations, with a total of 149 hemiskull base 3D images then analyzed. Skull-surface landmarks were marked, the lateral-skull surface was observed, and the positional relationships between the asterion and the extension line of the posterior margin of the mastoid process were measured. The position of the superior curvature of the sigmoid sinus groove was located before it was projected onto the lateral surface of the skull and defined as the keypoint. The positional relationship between the keypoint and the skull-surface landmarks was observed in an established coordinate system using spatial proportion relationships. Results. It remains a great challenge to analyze amines with high-throughput and high-coverage.Methods: Polythioester-functionalized magnetic nanoprobes (PMPs) have been prepared under mild conditions and applied in chemoselective capture of amides. With the introduction of polythioester, PMPs demonstrate remarkably increased capture efficiency, leading to the dramatically improved sensitivity of mass spectrometry detection.Results: The analysis method with PMPs treatment has been applied in rapid detection of more than 100 amines in lung adenocarcinoma cell lines, mouse organ tissues, and 103 human serum samples with high-throughput and high-coverage. Statistical analysis shows that arginine biosynthesis differed between lung adenocarcinoma cell lines.Discussion: Phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan biosynthesis differed between tissues. The combination indicators demonstrate a great diagnostic accuracy for distinguishing between health and lung disease subjects as well as differentiating the patients with benign lung disease and lung cancer. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of tea tree essential oil (TTO) supplementation in low fish meal diet on growth, lipid metabolism, anti-oxidant capacity and immunity of largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides). Five low fish meal (175 g kg−1) diets with grade levels of TTO (0, 0.25, 0.5, 1 and 2 g kg−1) were formulated to feed largemouth bass (initial weight: 15.06 ± 0.05 g) for 56 days. The results indicated that supplementation of dietary 1 g kg−1 TTO could significantly improve the weight gain rate, specific growth rate and protein deposition ratio, and decrease the feed conversion rate. The activities of gastric lipase and intestinal trypsin were enhanced by dietary TTO. The width of the intestinal villus was significantly elevated with dietary TTO level. In lipid metabolism parameters, the whole-body crude lipid content was increased and the liver crude lipid content was decreased in TTO treatment groups. The expression of acetyl-CoA carboxylase beta was downregulated, and the mRNA levels of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor alpha and carnitine palmitoyl-transferase 1 were upregulated in the liver by the addition of TTO. The contents of total cholesterol, triglyceride and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol significantly decreased, and the content of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol significantly increased in serum by dietary TTO. In anti-oxidative parameters, catalase activities in the liver and superoxide dismutase activities in the liver, intestine and serum were elevated with dietary TTO level. Malondialdehyde and protein carbonyl contents in the liver, intestine and serum showed the opposite trend. The nf-e2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) signaling pathways in the liver and intestine were triggered by dietary TTO supplementation. In the immune indices, the contents of total protein and albumin were improved, and the contents of glucose, aspartate aminotransferase and alanine transaminase were declined in TTO treatment groups. However, hepatocyte swelling and nuclear migration were found in the liver sections of all groups. After Aeromonas hydrophila administration, the toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) signaling pathway was activated in the head-kidney, liver and intestine, and the expression levels of interleukin 10 and transforming growth factor beta 1 were increased in the head-kidney, spleen, liver and intestine by dietary TTO. In conclusion, dietary TTO in low fish meal diet could improve growth, anti-oxidant capacity and immunity, and reduce lipid deposition in the liver and serum of largemouth bass. The optimal level of TTO in low fish meal diet of largemouth bass ranged from 1.33 to 1.34 g kg−1.

We investigated the impact of seasons of the year on microbiota and physicochemical indices in industrial-scale fermentation of Sichuan Baoning vinegar. Illumina HiSeq sequencing results showed significant differences (P 0.05), the increase in total acidity was highest in the autumn. Acetic acid content in raw vinegar was highest in the autumn (3472.42 mg/100 mL), and lowest in the summer (2304.01 mg/100 mL). This study provides a theoretical basis for the production of Sichuan bran vinegar with consistent quality and provides insights into the quality control of traditional fermented foods.

Abstract Due to their high safety and low cost, rechargeable aqueous Zn-ion batteries (RAZIBs) have been receiving increased attention and are expected to be the next generation of energy storage systems. However, metal Zn anodes exhibit a limited-service life and inferior reversibility owing to the issues of Zn dendrites and side reactions, which severely hinder the further development of RAZIBs. Researchers have attempted to design high-performance Zn anodes by interfacial engineering, including surface modification and the addition of electrolyte additives, to stabilize Zn anodes. The purpose is to achieve uniform Zn nucleation and flat Zn deposition by regulating the deposition behavior of Zn ions, which effectively improves the cycling stability of the Zn anode. This review comprehensively summarizes the reaction mechanisms of interfacial modification for inhibiting the growth of Zn dendrites and the occurrence of side reactions. In addition, the research progress of interfacial engineering strategies for RAZIBs is summarized and classified. Finally, prospects and suggestions are provided for the design of highly reversible Zn anodes.

The genus Myotis is one of the most diverse and widely distributed mammals, providing a good model for studies of speciation and diversification across large geographic scales. However, the classification within this genus has long been chaotic. Taxonomic revisions based on multiple data sources are essential and urgent. In this study, morphometrics and genetic markers with different modes of inheritance were used to clarify the taxonomy of Myotis distributed in China. Based on 173 mitochondrial Cytb sequences and five morphological characteristics, 114 specimens collected nationwide over the past 20 years were assigned to 11 Myotis species. All Chinese samples classified into M. davidii and M. longipes were revised to M. alticraniatus and M. laniger. Then, two nuclear fragments (Rag2 and Chd1) and Cytb sequences from representative individuals of Chinese Myotis were used for multilocus phylogeny reconstruction and genetic divergence evaluation. The phylogenetic relationships were clearly demonstrated in the species tree: M. alticraniatus and M. laniger; M. fimbriatus, M. pilosus, M. macrodactylus, and M. petax; and M. pequinius, M. chinensis, and M. blythii formed three strongly supported monophyletic clades. Mitochondrial divergence was almost 10 times that of nuclear divergence, with interspecific K2P distances ranging from 8% to 20% for Cytb and 0.3% to 2.3% for concatenated nuclear genes. Low levels of genetic divergence were observed between M. alticraniatus and M. laniger, as well as M. fimbriatus and M. pilosus. These results provide new insights into the taxonomy and phylogeny of Myotis bats in China and are important for the future research and conservation of Chinese Myotis.

The soil water storage capacity is critical for soil management as it drives crop production, soil carbon sequestration, and soil quality and health. It depends on soil textural class, depth, land-use and soil management practices; therefore, the complexity strongly limits its estimation on a large scale with conventional-process-based approaches. In this paper, a machine learning approach is proposed to build the profile of the soil water storage capacity. A neural network is designed to estimate the soil moisture from the meteorology data input. By taking the soil moisture as a proxy in the modelling, the training captures those impact factors of soil water storage capacity and their nonlinear interaction implicitly without knowing the underlying soil hydrologic processes. An internal vector of the proposed neural network assimilates the soil moisture response to meteorological conditions and is regulated as the profile of the soil water storage capacity. The proposed approach is data-driven. Since the low-cost soil moisture sensors have made soil moisture monitoring simple and the meteorology data are easy to obtain, the proposed approach enables a convenient way of estimating soil water storage capacity in a high sampling resolution and at a large scale. Moreover, an average root mean squared deviation at 0.0307m3/m3 can be achieved in the soil moisture estimation; hence, the trained model can be deployed as an alternative to the expensive sensor networks for continuous soil moisture monitoring. The proposed approach innovatively represents the soil water storage capacity as a vector profile rather than a single value indicator. Compared with the single value indicator, which is common in hydrology, a multidimensional vector can encode more information and thus has a more powerful representation. This can be seen in the anomaly detection demonstrated in the paper, where subtle differences in soil water storage capacity among the sensor sites can be captured even though these sensors are installed on the same grassland. Another merit of vector representation is that advanced numeric methods can be applied to soil analysis. This paper demonstrates such an advantage by clustering sensor sites into groups with the unsupervised K-means clustering on the profile vectors which encapsulate soil characteristics and land properties of each sensor site implicitly.

Abstract Biphasic and multiphasic compounds have been well clarified to achieve extraordinary electrochemical properties as advanced energy storage materials. Yet the role of phase boundaries in improving the performance is remained to be illustrated. Herein, we reported the biphasic vanadate, that is, Na1.2V3O8/K2V6O16·1.5H2O (designated as Na0.5K0.5VO), and detected the novel interfacial adsorption–insertion mechanism induced by phase boundaries. First‐principles calculations indicated that large amount of Zn2+ and H+ ions would be absorbed by the phase boundaries and most of them would insert into the host structure, which not only promote the specific capacity, but also effectively reduce diffusion energy barrier toward faster reaction kinetics. Driven by this advanced interfacial adsorption–insertion mechanism, the aqueous Zn/Na0.5K0.5VO is able to perform excellent rate capability as well as long‐term cycling performance. A stable capacity of 267 mA h g−1 after 800 cycles at 5 A g−1 can be achieved. The discovery of this mechanism is beneficial to understand the performance enhancement mechanism of biphasic and multiphasic compounds as well as pave pathway for the strategic design of high‐performance energy storage materials.

BackgroundChimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy has made significant advances for hematological malignancies but encounters obstacles in the treatment of solid tumors mainly due to tumor immunosuppressive microenvironment.MethodsImmunohistochemistry analysis was performed to examine the cellular expression of nectin cell adhesion molecule-4 (Nectin4) and fibroblast activation protein (FAP) in a variety of malignant solid tumors. Then, we engineered the fourth-generation Nectin4-targeted CAR-T (Nectin4-7.19 CAR-T) and FAP-targeted CAR-T (FAP-12 CAR-T) cells to evaluate their safety and efficacy in vitro and in vivo.ResultsIn our study, we firstly demonstrated the aberrant overexpression of Nectin4 on both primary and metastatic solid tumors and FAP on cancer-associated fibroblasts. Then, we found that our fourth-generation Nectin4-7.19 CAR-T cells expressed IL-7 and CCL19 efficiently and exhibited superior proliferation, migration, and cytotoxicity compared to the second-generation Nectin4 CAR-T cells, while FAP-12 CAR-T cells exerted their ability of targeting both murine and human FAP effectively in vitro. In a fully immune-competent mouse model of metastatic colorectal cancer, lymphodepletion pretreated mice achieved complete remission with human Nectin4-targeted murine CAR-T (Nectin4 mCAR-T) cells. In the NSG mouse model of lung metastases, Nectin4-7.19 CAR-T cells eradicated metastatic tumors and prolonged survival in combination with FAP-12 CAR-T cells.ConclusionsThese findings showed that Nectin4-7.19 CAR-T cells had potential therapeutic efficacy and exerted a synergistic role with FAP-12 CAR-T cells, further demonstrating that Nectin4 and FAP were able to serve as promising targets for safe and effective CAR-T therapy of malignant solid tumors.

ObjectiveAnalyze the research status of Tourette Syndrome (TS) in children by CiteSpace and determine the current research hotspots and frontiers.Materials and methodsWe chose publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database for studies related to TS in children from 2011 to 2021. We built online cooperation maps of countries/regions, institutions, authors, journals, references, and keywords by CiteSpace, and identified hotspots and frontiers of study for children’s TS.ResultsA total of 1,232 publications about TS in children were downloaded from the WoSCC. The USA (414) was the country with the highest rate of production, and University College London (87) was the institution that had the highest publication rate. Andrea Eugenio Cavanna was the most prolific author (39 papers). There was inactive cooperation between institutions, countries/regions, and authors. The Journal of European Child & Adolescent Psychiatry was the most active journal. Hot topics focused on epidemiology, comorbidities, deep brain stimulation, behavioral therapy, basal ganglia, pharmacological treatment, and risk factors of TS in children.ConclusionAccording to the CiteSpace results, this study found that authors, countries/regions, and institutions were not actively working together. Current research hotspots mainly consist of epidemiology, comorbidities, deep brain stimulation, behavior therapy, and basal ganglia. The main research trends include comorbidities, pharmacological treatment, and risk factors. Therefore, international cooperation should be strengthened in the future, and it should be mindful of the psychiatric comorbidities of TS, the choice of intervention measures, and early warning of risk factors.

In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Ia io from Guizhou Province, China. The genome was a circular mitochondrial genome of 16689 bp in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNA), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA), and a control region. The average base composition is 32.76% A, 24.59% C, 14.49% G, and 28.16% T. The first complete mitochondrial genome of I. io provides fundamental data for future systematic taxonomic studies of the genus Ia.

Purpose Practical training models can be a viable and effective educational tool that allows surgeons to acquire specific surgical techniques or skills. However, a suitable animal training model for reconstruction after a pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) has not yet been reported. Therefore, we explored the feasibility and safety of establishing an animal training model for digestive tract reconstruction after a simulated PD using mongrel dogs. Methods We used the anatomical similarity between the canine and human digestive tract to simulate the digestive tract reconstruction after pancreatoduodenectomy. A hepatobiliary surgeon performed simulated PD digestive reconstructions on 6 mongrel canines. Pancreaticojejunostomy (PJ), biliary-enteric anastomosis (BEA), and jejuno-jejunal anastomosis (JJ) were performed sequentially. The survival rate, surgical operation time, complications, body weight changes, gross specimen, and pathological examination of the anastomotic region were observed 30 days after surgery. Results The survival rate 30 days after surgery was 100%. Total mean operative time was 230.5 ± 39.7 min. The operative time for PJ, BEA, and JJ was calculated as 21.5 ± 7 min, 21.7 ± 8.7 min, and 13.2 ± 1.8 min, respectively. An incision infection occurred in 1 case (16.7%); there was 1 case of ascites (16.7%), and 1 case of vomiting (16.7%). The total protein and total bilirubin indicators of the 6 dogs and the serum amylase index of 5 dogs 30 days postoperatively were within the normal range. The 6th dog’s serum amylase was approximately double the normal value, possibly due to pancreatitis. Observing the gross specimen, the mucosa of the anastomosis was intact and smooth. Masson staining showed that the bile duct and jejunum anastomosis, the pancreas, and jejunum of the 6 canines were all integrated with rich collagen. Conclusion Establishing an animal model for digestive tract reconstruction after a simulated PD in canines is feasible and safe.

Abstract Background Dysfunction of lacrimal gland (LG) gains increasing attention in patients with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO), while the underlying pathological change is still not fully established. This study aimed to evaluate the utility of readout-segmented echo-planar imaging (rs-EPI)-based diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in non-invasively detecting microstructural alterations of LG in patients with TAO, as well as in discriminating disease activity. Methods Thirty TAO patients and 15 age- and sex- matched healthy controls, who underwent rs-EPI-based DTI, were retrospectively enrolled. Fractional anisotropy (FA) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of LG, and clinical-endocrinological variables were collected and compared. The correlations between FA and ADC values of LG and serum thyroid biochemical markers were also assessed. Results TAO group showed significantly lower FA (P 0.05). The area under receiver operating characteristic curve of FA was significantly greater than that under curve of ADC for discriminating disease activity (0.832 vs. 0.570, P = 0.009). Conclusions rs-EPI-based DTI is a useful tool to characterize the microstructural change of LG in patients with TAO. The derived metrics, particularly FA, can help to reveal disease activity.

Herein, we describe Panophrys congjiangensis sp. nov. obtained from the Yueliangshan Nature Reserve, Congjiang County, Guizhou Province, China. Phylogenetic analyses based on the mitochondrial genes 16S rRNA and COI indicated that this new species represented an independent lineage, closely related to P. leishanensis. The uncorrected genetic distances between the new species and its closest congener, P. leishanensis, were 3.0% for 16S rRNA and 8.4% for COI. The new species is distinguished from its congeners by a combination of the following morphological characteristics (1) medium body size (SVL 28.6–33.4 mm in males and 38.4–40.2 mm in females); (2) a small horn-like tubercle at the edge of each upper eyelid; (3) the tympanum distinctly visible (TD/ED ratio 0.47–0.66); (4) vomerine teeth absent; (5) the tongue not notched behind; (6) a narrow and unobvious lateral fringe on toes; (7) relative finger lengths II < I < V < III; (8) rudimentary webs on toes; (9) hindlimbs slender, heels overlapping when thighs are positioned at right angles to the body; (10) two metacarpal tubercles on the palm, with the inner metatarsal tubercle long and oval-shaped; (11) the tibiotarsal articulation reaching the nostril when the leg is adpressed and stretched forward; (12) dorsal skin rough with numerous orange–red granules, ventral surface smooth; (13) a single internal subgular vocal sac present in males; and (14) in breeding males, weak gray-black nuptial pads with black nuptial spines present on the dorsal surface of the bases of the first and second fingers. To date, the new species is only known from the type locality.

Background and PurposeAlthough previous neuroimaging studies have demonstrated emotion- and psychology-associated brain abnormalities in patients with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO), the changes of brain functional connectivity in TAO were seldom focused. We aimed to investigate interregional and intraregional functional interactions in patients with TAO by using resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) with long- and short-range functional connectivity density (FCD) analysis.MethodsThirty patients with TAO and 30 well-matched healthy controls (HCs) were recruited in our study. Long- and short-range FCD values were calculated and compared between the two groups. Correlations between long- and short-range FCD values and clinical indicators were analyzed.ResultsCompared with HCs, patients with showed both increased long- and short-range FCDs in the left middle frontal gyrus (MFG), orbital part of superior frontal gyrus (ORBsup), and dorsolateral part of superior frontal gyrus (SFGdor); meanwhile, both decreased long- and short-range FCDs in bilateral postcentral gyrus (PoCG), left superior parietal gyrus (SPG), and inferior parietal (IPL). In addition, patients with TAO showed increased short-range FCD in the right SFGdor, bilateral medial part of superior frontal gyrus (SFGmed), left orbital part of middle frontal gyrus (ORBmid), and orbital part of inferior frontal gyrus (ORBinf), as well as decreased short-range FCD in the right supplementary motor area (SMA) and the left paracentral lobule (PCL) than HCs. Moreover, the short-range value in the left SFGdor showed a negative correlation with Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score (r = −0.501, p = 0.005).ConclusionOur findings complemented the functional neural mechanism of TAO, and provided potential neuroimaging markers for assessing the psychiatric, visual, and emotional disturbances in patients with TAO.

With the reform of China’s urbanization increasing in popularity, the security issues posed by urban groundwater, especially groundwater in industrial areas, have attracted scholars’ attention. This research aimed to predict and quantify the migration process of contaminants in a microconfined aquifer by conducting a groundwater contamination investigation in an abandoned chemical plant in the Jiangsu Province of China. First, data such as regional hydrogeological parameters and types of contaminants were obtained via hydrogeological drilling, groundwater well monitoring, pumping tests, and laboratory permeability tests, which helped identify the most serious pollution factor: chloroform. Then, a groundwater flow model was built using the Groundwater Modeling System (GMS) and verified using the general-purpose parameter estimation (PEST) package. In addition, based on the three-dimensional multi-species model for transport (MT3DMS) in GMS, a transport model was established. The results illustrate that the plume range of chloroform diffuses with water flow, but, because of its slow diffusion rate and inability to degrade naturally, the concentration of the contaminant has remained several times higher than the safety standard for a long time. The contaminant spread vertically to the soil layer above the microconfined aquifer under pressure, resulting in direct pollution. In addition, the contaminant in the microconfined aquifer is anticipated to migrate down to the clay layer and become enriched. However, the first confined aquifer has not been seriously polluted in the past 20 years. Finally, a sensitivity analysis of the parameters shows that groundwater contamination in the Yangtze delta region is greatly affected by precipitation recharge and hydraulic conductivity.

Chinese cities are experiencing urban shrinkage due to demographic, environmental, economic, and political changes. However, urban form is another reason for urban shrinkage. This study first identified the shrinking of 293 cities in China based on the values of the change in brightness extracted from multi-year nighttime light data. Next, the characteristics of construction land morphology from 2019 were analyzed using landscape pattern analysis. Finally, the impact of urban form on urban shrinkage was explored using Geodetector. The results show that: (1) In total, 293 cities experienced different degrees of shrinkage. Regions with severe shrinkage were concentrated in the underdeveloped provinces, and autonomous central and western regions of China; moreover, (2) All factors of urban form significantly affected urban shrinkage. The largest q-values were found in patch density (0.144) and urban area (0.133), indicating that the degree of construction land fragmentation and urban area scale affected urban shrinkage the most; and (3) The interaction effects of pairwise factors were mutually or nonlinearly enhanced. The influence of urban form and socio-economic factors was stronger than that of socio-economic factors alone. This shows that the coupling of urban form and socio-economic factors strengthens the impact of urban form on urban shrinkage.

The Hainan gibbon (Nomascus hainanus) is endemic to China and is the world’s rarest ape. The remaining wild population totals only 33 individuals. In the current study, we sequenced the Mitochondrial DNA control region of 12 wild Hainan gibbons representing three social groups of the five remaining groups. By conducting population genetic analyses, we found that the proportion of four nucleotides (T, C, A and G) were 29.0%, 27.2%, 31.9% and 11.9%, respectively. Hypervariable segments of the mtDNA D-loop region (1005 bp in length), indicated five variable sites (a point mutation), with only two haplotypes present among the 12 samples. We observed that the genetic diversity of Hainan gibbons is lower than that reported in any other wild primate population, and that the two haplotypes detected, represent two ancestral lineages. These findings have important implications for proposing effective conservation strategies to protect this Critically Endangered ape species.

Exposure to cadmium (Cd), a toxic metal, is epidemiologically linked to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) in humans. However, the role of Cd in NASH remains to be fully elucidated. This study employed a novel murine NASH model to investigate the effects of chronic low-dose Cd on hepatic pathology and its underlying mechanisms. NASH is characterized by lipid accumulation, extensive cell death, and persistent inflammation in the liver. We found that treatment with Cd in drinking water (10 mg/L) for 6 or 12 weeks significantly boosted hepatic fat deposition, increased hepatocyte destruction, and amplified inflammatory responses in mice, confirming that low-dose Cd can facilitate NASH development in vivo. Mechanistically, chronic Cd exposure reshaped the hepatic transcriptional landscape, with PPAR-mediated fatty acid metabolic pathways being the most significantly altered. In particular, Cd repressed fatty acid desaturation, leading to the accumulation of saturated fatty acids whose lipotoxicity exacerbated cell death and, consequently, inflammatory activation. In summary, we validated the causal effects of chronic low-dose Cd on NASH in vivo and identified the fatty acid desaturation program as a novel target for Cd to instigate hepatopathological alterations.

Abstract Zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) is a promising electrical energy storage candidate due to its eco-friendliness, low cost, and intrinsic safety, but on the cathode the element dissolution and the formation of irreversible products, and on the anode the growth of dendrite as well as irreversible products hinder its practical application. Herein, we propose a new type of the inorganic highly concentrated colloidal electrolytes (HCCE) for ZIBs promoting simultaneous robust protection of both cathode/anode leading to an effective suppression of element dissolution, dendrite, and irreversible products growth. The new HCCE has high Zn2+ ion transference number (0.64) endowed by the limitation of SO4 2−, the competitive ion conductivity (1.1 × 10–2 S cm−1) and Zn2+ ion diffusion enabled by the uniform pore distribution (3.6 nm) and the limited free water. The Zn/HCCE/α-MnO2 cells exhibit high durability under both high and low current densities, which is almost 100% capacity retention at 200 mA g−1 after 400 cycles (290 mAh g−1) and 89% capacity retention under 500 mA g−1 after 1000 cycles (212 mAh g−1). Considering material sustainability and batteries’ high performances, the colloidal electrolyte may provide a feasible substitute beyond the liquid and all-solid-state electrolyte of ZIBs.

Abstract In this paper, we introduce certain classes of multilinear Calderón–Zygmund operators with kernels of Dini’s type. Applying the sharp method and A p → ∞ ( φ ) $A_{\vec{p}}^{\infty }(\varphi )$ functions, we first establish some weighted norm inequalities for multilinear Calderón–Zygmund operators with kernels of Dini’s type, including pointwise estimates, strong type, and weak endpoint estimates. Furthermore, similar weighted norm inequalities for commutators with BMO θ ( φ ) $\mathrm{BMO}_{\theta }(\varphi )$ functions are also obtained, but the weak endpoint estimate is of L ( log L ) $L({\mathrm{log}}L)$ type.

Habitat reduction and increased fragmentation are urgent issues for the survival and recovery of the giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca). However, changes in the distribution and microhabitat selection of giant panda habitats in different seasons in the same region have rarely been assessed. To further understand giant panda habitat requirements, this study analyzed the giant panda habitat selection characteristics and differences using the sample data of the giant panda occurrence sites collected during 2020–2022. The results showed that the giant panda in both seasons selected medium altitudes (2000–2400 m), southeastern slopes, slopes less than 15°, taller tree layers (8–15 m) with a larger diameter at breast height (17–25 cm) and medium density (25–55%), shorter shrub layers (2 m) with high density (>35%). The giant panda microhabitat survey in the Niba Mountain corridor clarified the characteristics of suitable habitat selection for the giant panda in the corridor. The findings of the study can provide scientific references for the development of practical habitat conservation and management measures for giant pandas in the study area.

Abstract Potassium-ion batteries (KIBs) have great potential for applications in large-scale energy storage devices. However, the larger radius of K+ leads to sluggish kinetics and inferior cycling performance, severely restricting its practical applicability. Herein, we propose a rational strategy involving a Prussian blue analogue-derived graphitized carbon anode with fast and durable potassium storage capability, which is constructed by encapsulating cobalt nanoparticles in nitrogen-doped graphitized carbon (Co-NC). Both experimental and theoretical results show that N-doping effectively promotes the uniform dispersion of cobalt nanoparticles in the carbon matrix through Co–N bonds. Moreover, the cobalt nanoparticles and strong Co–N bonds synergistically form a three-dimensional conductive network, increase the number of adsorption sites, and reduce the diffusion energy barrier, thereby facilitating the adsorption and the diffusion kinetics. These multiple effects lead to enhanced reversible capacities of 305 and 208.6 mAh g−1 after 100 and 300 cycles at 0.05 and 0.1 A g−1, respectively, demonstrating the applicability of the Co-NC anode for KIBs.

Purpose: Thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) is a debilitating and sight-threatening autoimmune disease that severely impairs patients’ quality of life. Besides the most common ophthalmic manifestations, the emotional and psychiatric disturbances are also usually observed in clinical settings. This study was to investigate the interhemispheric functional connectivity alterations in TAO patients using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI).Methods: Twenty-eight TAO patients and 22 healthy controls (HCs) underwent rs-fMRI scans. Static and dynamic voxel-mirrored homotopic connectivity (VMHC) values were calculated and compared between the two groups. A linear support vector machine (SVM) classifier was used to examine the performance of static and dynamic VMHC differences in distinguishing TAOs from HCs.Results: Compared with HCs, TAOs showed decreased static VMHC in lingual gyrus (LG)/calcarine (CAL), middle occipital gyrus, postcentral gyrus, superior parietal lobule, inferior parietal lobule, and precuneus. Meanwhile, TAOs demonstrated increased dynamic VMHC in orbitofrontal cortex (OFC). In TAOs, static VMHC in LG/CAL was positively correlated with visual acuity (r = 0.412, P = 0.036), whilst dynamic VMHC in OFC was positively correlated with Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) score (r = 0.397, P = 0.044) and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) score (r = 0.401, P = 0.042). The SVM model showed good performance in distinguishing TAOs from HCs (area under the curve, 0.971; average accuracy, 94%).Conclusion: TAO patients had altered static and dynamic VMHC in the occipital, parietal, and orbitofrontal areas, which could serve as neuroimaging prediction markers of TAO.

Triplophysa baotianensis belong to the genus Triplophysa (Teleostei, Nemacheilidae), endemic to Guizhou Province, Southwestern China. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of T. baotianensis was sequenced and reported for the first time. The circular mitogenome was 16,576 bp in length and consisted of 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and 1 non-coding control region. The overall base composition was 30.79% A, 27.62% T, 25.46% C, and 16.13% G with 41.59% GC content. Phylogenetic analysis using mitochondrial genomes of 40 species showed that all Triplophysa species clustered as one monophyletic clade, and T. baotianensis was the closest to (T. nasobarbatula + (T. rosa + T. xiangxiensis)).

Abstract Aqueous Zn‐ion batteries (ZIBs) hold great potential in large‐scale energy storage systems due to the merits of low‐cost and high safety. However, the unstable structure of cathode materials and sluggish (de)intercalation kinetics of Zn2+ pose challenges for further development. Herein, highly reversible aqueous ZIBs are constructed with layered hydrated vanadium oxide as a cathode material. The electrochemical performances are further tested with the optimized electrolyte of 3M Zn(CF3SO3)2 and a cut‐off voltage of 0.4 to 1.3 V, exhibiting a remarkable capacity of 290 mAh g−1 at 0.5 A g−1, and long‐term cycling stability at high current density. Furthermore, the Zn2+ storage mechanism of V3O7⋅H2O is recognized as a highly reversible (de)intercalation process with good structural stability, implying the potential application in the field of large‐scale energy storage.

This study describes a new species of the genus Leptobrachella, Leptobrachella suiyangensis sp. nov. from the Huoqiuba Nature Reserve, Suiyang County, Guizhou Province, China, based on morphological data and phylogenetic analyses (16S rRNA mtDNA). The new species can be distinguished from other congeners by the molecular divergence and by a combination of morphological characters, including body size, dorsal and ventral patterns, dorsal skin texture, size of the pectoral and femoral glands, degree of webbing and fringing on the toes and fingers, dorsum coloration, and iris coloration in life. Currently, the genus Leptobrachella contains 75 species, 21 of which are found in China, including seven species reported from Guizhou Province. The uncorrected sequence divergence percentage between Leptobrachella suiyangensis sp. nov. and all homologous DNA sequences available for the 16S rRNA gene was found to be >4.7%. The new record of the species and its relationships with others in the same genus imply that species distribution, habitat variation, environmental adaptation, and diversity of the genus Leptobrachella in southwest China need to be further investigated.

Oceanic mesoscale eddies are associated with large thermodynamic anomalies, yet so far they are most commonly studied in terms of surface temperature and in the sense of composite mean. Here we employ an objective eddy identification and tracking algorithm together with a novel matching and filling procedure to more thoroughly examine eddy-induced thermodynamic anomalies in the North Pacific, their relationship with eddy amplitude (SSH), and the percentage of variability they explain on various timescales from submonthly to interannual. The thermodynamic anomalies are investigated in terms of sea surface temperature (SST), isothermal layer depth (ITD), and upper ocean heat content (HCT). Most eddies are weak in amplitude and are associated with small thermodynamic anomalies. In the sense of composite mean, anticyclonic eddies are generally warm eddies with deeper isothermal layer and larger heat content, and the reverse is true for cyclonic eddies. A small fraction of eddies, most probably subsurface eddies, exhibits the opposite polarities. Linear relationships with eddy amplitude are found for each of the thermodynamic parameters but with different level of scatter and seasonality. HCT-amplitude relation scatters the least and has the smallest seasonal difference, ITD-amplitude relation has the largest scatter and seasonality, while SST-amplitude relation is in between. For the Kuroshio and Oyashio Extension region, the most eddy-rich region in the North Pacific, eddies are responsible for over 50% of the total SSH variability up to the intra-seasonal scale, and ITD and HCT variability up to interannual. Eddy-induced SST variability is the highest along the Oyashio Extension Front on the order of 40–60% on submonthly scales. These results highlight the role of mesoscale eddies in ocean thermodynamic variability and in air-sea interaction.

PurposeThe purpose of the study was to investigate the brain functional alteration in patients with thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO) by evaluating the spontaneous neural activity changes using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) with the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) method.Materials and MethodsThe rs-fMRI data of 30 TAO patients (15 active and 15 inactive) and 15 healthy controls (HCs) were included for analyses. The ALFF values were calculated and compared among groups. Correlations between ALFF values and clinical metrics were assessed.ResultsCompared with HCs, active TAOs showed significantly decreased ALFF values in the left middle occipital gyrus, superior occipital gyrus, and cuneus. Compared with inactive TAOs, active TAOs showed significantly increased ALFF values in the bilateral precuneus. Additionally, inactive TAOs showed significantly decreased ALFF values in the left middle occipital gyrus, superior occipital gyrus, cuneus, and bilateral precuneus than HCs. The ALFF value in the right precuneus of TAOs was positively correlated with clinical activity score (r = 0.583, P < 0.001) and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score (r = 0.377, P = 0.040), and negatively correlated with disease duration (r = −0.382, P = 0.037). Moreover, the ALFF value in the left middle occipital gyrus of TAOs was positively correlated with visual acuity (r = 0.441, P = 0.015).ConclusionTAO patients had altered spontaneous brain activities in the left occipital lobe and bilateral precuneus. The neuropsychological aspect of the disease should be noticed during clinical diagnosis and treatment.

As China is transitioning from a planned economy to a market-based economy, over the past 30 years, China’s economy has experienced the same type of changes that led to amenity-driven housing and land markets in more developed countries. This paper examines the effect of different types of amenities on urban land and housing prices across Chinese cities in 2020. When firms and households value some amenities, the assumption is that the preference for these amenities will be valued and reflected in both land and housing markets. We conduct a cross-sectional analysis of urban land and housing prices in prefecture and higher-level cities in China. We extend the Roback model to explore the extent to which the different land rents and housing prices reflect the compensations for interregional amenity differences across Chinese cities. We include two types of amenities: natural amenities and locally produced amenities. We perform two-stage least squares (2SLS) estimations and compute the implicit prices of various amenities for households and firms. The empirical results show that a range of amenities is valued by both households and firms, resulting in higher housing and industrial prices.

Abstract Rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) have their unique advantages of cost efficiency, high safety, and environmental friendliness. However, challenges facing the cathode materials include whether they can remain chemically stable in aqueous electrolyte and provide a robust structure for the storage of Zn2+. Here, we report on H11Al2V6O23.2@graphene (HAVO@G) with exceptionally large layer spacing of (001) plane (13.36 Å). The graphene-wrapped structure can keep the structure stable during discharge/charge process, thereby promoting the inhibition of the dissolution of elements in the aqueous electrolyte. While used as cathode for AZIBs, HAVO@G electrode delivers ideal rate performance (reversible capacity of 305.4, 276.6, 230.0, 201.7, 180.6 mAh g−1 at current densities between 1 and 10 A g−1). Remarkably, the electrode exhibits excellent and stable cycling stability even at a high loading mass of ~ 15.7 mg cm−2, with an ideal reversible capacity of 131.7 mAh g−1 after 400 cycles at 2 A g−1.

In the present paper, the authors investigate the two weight, weak-(p, q) type norm inequalities for a class of sublinear operators 𝓣γ and their commutators [b, 𝓣γ] on weighted Morrey and Amalgam spaces. What should be stressed is that we introduce the new BMO type space and our results generalize known results before.

Abstract A V4+-V2O5 cathode with mixed vanadium valences was prepared via a novel synthetic method using VOOH as the precursor, and its zinc-ion storage performance was evaluated. The products are hollow spheres consisting of nanoflakes. The V4+-V2O5 cathode exhibits a prominent cycling performance, with a specific capacity of 140 mAh g−1 after 1000 cycles at 10 A g−1, and an excellent rate capability. The good electrochemical performance is attributed to the presence of V4+, which leads to higher electrochemical activity, lower polarization, faster ion diffusion, and higher electrical conductivity than V2O5 without V4+. This engineering strategy of valence state manipulation may pave the way for designing high-performance cathodes for elucidating advanced battery chemistry.

Failures of bushing caused by corrosive sulfur has gradually appeared in recent years. Apart from copper and sulfur, certain amount of aluminum was also found both in oil and paper after disassembling. The corrosion mechanism of the aluminum foil and its effect on oil-paper insulation were unknown. In this study, series of sulfur corrosion experiments were taken to investigate the sulfur corrosion of aluminum foil. The results showed the aluminum foil could certainly be corroded in oil containing corrosive sulfur (DBDS). Thermal products of insulting paper triggered the corrosion by removing the alumina film on the surface. Then, the contact corrosion occurred between aluminum and DBDS. In addition, the mechanisms of corrosion products generation both in oil and on paper were studied. The corrosion products in oil was DBDS-Al(3,4) and that on paper was RCOOAln. It caused the decrease of electrical properties of oil-paper. Particularly, the dielectric loss of oil and paper were dramatically enhanced.

Inclusion complex of catechin (CAT) with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) was prepared using co-precipitation method to enhance antioxidant stability of CAT and the physicochemical properties of the inclusion complex were studied. The CAT/β-CD inclusion complex was analyzed through phase solubility study, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Phase solubility study indicated that CAT and β-CD formed 1:1 stoichiometric inclusion complex. Results of FT-IR indicated that CAT was stabilized in β-CD cavity by intra-molecular hydrogen bonds. Results of DSC and SEM proved that CAT/β-CD inclusion complex formed. XRD results showed that the formation of new solid crystalline phases in the CAT/β-CD inclusion complex. CAT was effectively protected through encapsulation into β-CD and the antioxidant stability of CAT was improved after encapsulation. In addition, the release behavior of CAT from the inclusion complex increased with increasing of the temperature.

Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) is a gaseous signalling molecule, which has shown therapeutic value. Here, the authors show that a thioenol metabolite of the antithrombotic drug clopidogrel is an efficient H2S donor and masked thioenols can be linked to existing compounds to develop H2S-releasing agents.
