While a gambler may occasionally win, continuous gambling inevitably results in a net loss to the casino. This study experimentally demonstrates the profitability of a particularly deceptive casino game: a two-armed antique Mills Futurity slot machine. The main findings clearly show that both non-random and random two-arm strategies, predetermined by the player and repeated without interruption, are always profitable for the casino, despite two coins being refunded for every two consecutive losses by the gambler. We theoretically explore the cyclical nature of slot machine strategies and speculate on the impact of the frequency of switching strategies on casino returns. Our results not only assist casino owners in developing and improving casino designs, but also guide gamblers to participate more cautiously in gambling.

Yunnan, the region hardest hit by HIV/AIDS in China, is also an area with the most abundant HIV-1 genetic diversity. A large number of novel HIV-1 circulating recombinant forms (CRFs) and unique recombinants were identified among injection drug users in Yunnan; however, few were found among sexual contacts. Here, we obtained 15 near full-length genome sequences (NFLGs) from HIV-1 seropositive heterosexual contacts in Yunnan who received antiretroviral therapy during the period from 2014 to 2016. Phylogenetic analysis showed that six NFLGs belonged to CRF01_AE (n = 3) and CRF106_cpx (n = 3), and the other nine sequences were novel inter-subtype recombinants. Of the recombinants, two novel CRFs (CRF111_01 C (n = 4) and CRF116_0108 (n = 4)) and one CRF106_cpx variant (n = 1) were identified. CRF111_01 C had a CRF01_AE backbone with seven subtype C fragments inserted into the gag, pol, vif, env, nef and 3ʹLTR regions. CRF116_0108 had a CRF08_BC backbone with a CRF01_AE fragment inserted into the pol, tat, rev, vif, vpr, vpu and env regions. Phylogeographic analyses estimated that CRF111_01 C and CRF116_0108 originated approximately 1995.7–1998.6 and 1991.7–1993.7, respectively. These identifications of two novel HIV-1 CRFs highlighted the importance of continuous surveillance in heterosexual contacts and other high-risk groups in this region and the surrounding regions.

Abstract Horticulture productivity has been increasingly restricted by heat stress from growing global warming, making it far below the optimum production capacity. As a popular ornamental cultivar of tree peony, Paeonia suffruticosa ‘Yu Hong’ has also been suffering from heat stress not suitable for its optimal growth. To better understand the response mechanisms against heat stress of tree peony, investigations of phenotypic changes, physiological responses, and quantitative proteomics were conducted. Phenotypic and physiological changes indicated that 24 h of exposure to heat stress (40 °C) was the critical duration of heat stress in tree peony. The proteomic analyses revealed a total of 100 heat-responsive proteins (HRPs). According to bioinformatic analysis of HRPs, the heat tolerance of tree peony might be related to signal transduction, synthesis/degradation, heat kinetic proteins, antioxidants, photosynthesis, energy conversion, and metabolism. Our research will provide some new insights into the molecular mechanism under the response against the heat stress of tree peony, which will benefit the future breeding of heat-resistant ornamental plants.

Acute poisoning is a significant public health concern. This retrospective study investigates trends in acute poisoning cases and explores the clinical and sociodemographic profiles associated with this condition. Medical data from 859 hospitalized patients diagnosed with acute poisoning between January 2017 and December 2022 were comprehensively analyzed. The descriptive statistical analysis revealed that 360 patients had underlying diseases, with depression being the most prevalent among them. Furthermore, urban areas accounted for 87.2% of the acute poisoning cases, indicating a higher incidence compared to rural areas. The substances implicated in acute poisoning incidents varied, with drugs of abuse being the most common (53.2%), followed by pesticides (22.2%), carbon monoxide (11.8%), and alcohol (5.4%). Suicide attempt/suicide emerged as the leading cause of acute poisoning incidents, accounting for 75.9% of cases, while poisoning accidents predominantly occurred within the home setting. Through chi-square tests, it was determined that risk factors for suicide attempt/suicide included female gender and underlying medical conditions. Temporal analysis showed that the total number of acute poisoning cases increased from 2017 to 2019 and decreased from 2019 to 2022. Notably, suicide-related cases exhibited an upward trend, with suicide attempt/suicide accounting for over 80% of all acute poisoning cases after 2020. This study contributes valuable insights into the trends, profiles, and risk factors associated with acute poisoning cases.

Cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome (CAPS) comprises a group of disorders characterized by recurrent bouts of systemic inflammation related to overactivation of inflammasome. So far, neither large cases of the correlation between genotype and phenotype nor treatment strategies have been clearly stated in China. Here, we studied the clinical and genetic characteristics and their correlation from 30 CAPS patients in China. We identified the pathogenesis for novel mutations by activating NLRP3 inflammasome for peripheral cells with ATP plus LPS, compared characteristics with other case series, and analyzed treatment outcomes of these patients. The patients harbored 19 substitutions in NLRP3, and 8 of them were novel mutations. Among these novel mutations, percentages of severe musculoskeletal, ophthalmologic, and neurological symptoms were higher compared with other case serials. The correlation of phenotypes and their variants seemed different in our cases, such as T350M, S333G/I/R, and F311V (somatic mosaicism). Ten patients received Canakinumab treatment, which proved effective at alleviating musculoskeletal, neurological, auditory, visual manifestations, fever, and rash for 10–20 months follow-up. Patients treated with prednisolone or prednisolone plus thalidomide or methotrexate, tocilizumab, TNF inhibiting agents, and sirolimus achieved only partial remission. Importantly, we firstly identified somatic mosaicism mutation of F311V, which was severe. Our study extended the spectrum of genotype and phenotype and characteristics of their correlations and provided detailed responses to different treatment strategies. These data provide guidance for future diagnosis and management for CAPS.

Objective Alarmingly, the individuals’ reach and coverage to get vaccinated in developing regions during the pandemic is a massive challenge for concerned authorities. This study aimed to demonstrate how cyberchondria play a significant role in a classical health belief model. Cyberchondria may influence cognitive factors (e.g. self-efficacy), which may contribute to an increase in attitude–behavior gap. Especially in the context of a health-centric scenario, it may discourage individuals to take protective measures. Method By using the cross-sectional research design, the authors conducted a quantitative survey in Pakistan and collected 563 responses from 303 male respondents (rural = 91; urban = 212) with (Urban M:35.5, standard deviation (SD):13.4) and rural M:37.5, SD:8.4). Result The findings indicate that decision self-efficacy among males is stronger than that in females. It dominates other determinants, which can dampen the individuals’ intentions to get vaccinated. For instance, the effect of conspiracies and perceived seriousness was noted nonsignificant and weak. In females, perceived seriousness was stronger determinant than in males. In addition, the negative effect of decision self-efficacy was noted in the case of females, and conspiracy and cyberchondria had a negative role. Conclusion This study highlights valuable implications for future research in infodemic, health communication and health literacy, and practical implications for regulatory bodies and public administration.

Anthropogenic or environmental changes can impact not only the composition and diversity of fish communities but also their species interactions. However, our current understanding of changes in species interactions remains limited. In this study, we utilized the bottom trawling survey data from 2017 to 2020 to investigate the temporal shift of fish communities in the south inshore of Zhejiang through co-occurrence networks, species composition, and diversity analysis. Our findings indicated significant changes in the fish community in recent years, including a decrease in the number of dominant fish families, a shift in dominant species from medium-sized commercial fish to low-value small fish, a decline in relative biomass of fish resources, a loss of diversity and species co-occurrences, an increase in community modularity, and a decrease in community clustering. The changes in co-occurrence networks revealed the local decline or loss of keystone species critical to the functioning of the ecosystem and the fragmentation of the fish community in the south inshore of Zhejiang. We also found that despite the dominant species being the major component of the community, not all of them held central positions in the co-occurrence networks. Additionally, the high fishing intensity and stochastic environmental changes may have consistently negatively affected offshore fish communities. As a result, the resilience or function of the fish community under external disturbance threats was likely decreasing over time. It is imperative that ongoing monitoring and assessment are needed to expose the ecological impacts of a range of pervasive anthropogenic threats. Further measures should be taken to mitigate the negative impact of fishing or other disturbances on the coastal ecosystems are necessary.

In this study, 7075 Al alloy was prepared by solution treatment + natural aging. The anisotropic behavior of 7075 Al alloy in extrusion direction (ED), 45° direction (45°) and radial direction (RD) was studied by quasi-static tensile test and strain controlled low cycle fatigue (LCF) test. The specimens of ED, 45° and RD were 0°, 45° and 90° to the extrusion direction of the bar, respectively. The mechanical properties of the specimens in three directions showed strong anisotropy. The yield strength (YS) and ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of ED specimens were better than 45° and RD specimens, but 45° specimens had better plasticity. With the extension of aging time, the YS and UTS increase significantly. In the quasi-static tensile process, the specimens would have dynamic strain aging (DSA), and obvious serrated flow behavior could be observed on the curve. For the fatigue performance of specimens in three directions, when the strain amplitude was low, the fatigue life of ED and 45° specimens was high. When the strain amplitude was high, the fatigue life of RD specimens was high. The experimental results showed that after cyclic loading, the second phase size of solution treatment + cyclic loading specimens was larger than T6 (480 °C × 3 h + 130 °C × 24 h). Therefore, the fatigue fracture mode was multi-source fracture at low strain amplitude.

Aims: Gut-microbiome derived short-chain fatty acids exert anti-inflammatory effects and delay progression of kidney disease in diabetic nephropathy. The aim of this study was to examine the impact in vivo and in vitro of short-chain fatty acid treatment on cellular pathways involved in the development of experimental diabetic nephropathy.Methods: To determine the effect of short-chain fatty acids in diabetic nephropathy, we compared wildtype, GPR43−/− and GPR109A−/− mice diabetic mice treated with acetate or butyrate and assessed variables of kidney damage. We also examined the impact of short-chain fatty acid treatment on gene expression in renal tubular cells and podocytes under high glucose conditions.Results: Short-chain fatty acid treatment with acetate or butyrate protected wild-type mice against development of diabetic nephropathy, exhibiting less glomerular hypertrophy, hypercellularity and interstitial fibrosis compared to diabetic controls. Acetate and butyrate treatment did not provide the same degree of protection in diabetic GPR43−/− and GPR109A−/− diabetic mice respectively. Consistent with our in vivo results, expression of pro-inflammatory genes in tubular epithelial cells exposed to high glucose were attenuated by acetate and butyrate treatment. Acetate did not reduce inflammatory or fibrotic responses in glucose stimulated GPR43−/− TECs. Butyrate mediated inhibition of pro-fibrotic gene expression in TECs through GPR109A, and in podocytes via GPR43.Conclusion: SCFAs protect against progression of diabetic nephropathy and diminish podocyte and tubular epithelial injury and interstitial fibrosis via direct, GPR-pathway dependent effects on intrinsic kidney cells. GPR43 and GPR109A are critical to short-chain fatty acid mediated reno-protection and have potential to be harnessed as a therapeutic target in diabetic nephropathy.

Asiatic acid (AA) is the most crucial component of Asiaticoside in many edible and medicinal plants. It has diverse biological activities such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-infective, and anti-tumor. Additionally, AA has been intensively studied in the last decades. It has shown great potential in the treatment of various neurological diseases such as spinal cord injury (SCI), cerebral ischemia, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury (TBI), neural tumors, Alzheimer's disease (AD), and Parkinson's disease (PD). Moreover, AA provides pertinent data for neuroprotective signaling pathways, and its substantial neuroprotective ability makes it a novel candidate for developing drugs that target the central nervous system.

Background: Standardized training of resident physicians (STRP) includes clinical practice, professional required courses, and public required courses, among others. Of them, clinical practice is the most important as it allows residents to implement what they have learned in theoretical education to practice. Clinical practice includes different teaching methods, such as traditional lectures, bedside teaching, and workshops, and each method has its advantages and disadvantages in different situations of interest. Emergency medicine (EM) focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of urgent medical conditions and entails several emergency procedures. In this study, we aimed to compare the effects of workshop-based STRP and traditional STRP on emergency physicians. Methods: Overall, 125 residents who received STRP in EM between January and December 2021 were selected and randomly divided into two groups: the control group (n = 60; received traditional teaching) and the intervention group (n = 65; received workshop-based training). BackgroundChimeric antigen receptor - T (CAR-T) cell therapy has shown remarkable efficacy in patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (R/R MM). However, a subset of patients still experienced progression or relapse, and the predictors of prognosis are little known. We analyzed the inflammatory markers before CAR-T cell infusion, to clarify their correlation with survival and toxicity.MethodsThis study involved 109 R/R MM patients who received CAR-T therapy between June 2017 and July 2021. Inflammatory markers, including ferritin, c-reactive protein (CRP), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) before CAR-T cell infusion were detected and then categorized by quartiles. Adverse events and clinical outcomes were compared between patients with upper quartile of inflammatory markers and patients with lower three quartiles of inflammatory markers. An inflammatory prognostic index (InPI) based on these three inflammatory markers was developed in this study. Patients were divided into 3 groups according to the InPI score, progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were compared among the groups. In addition, we explored the correlation between cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and pre-infusion inflammatory markers.ResultsWe found that the pre-infusion high ferritin (hazard ratio [HR], 3.382; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.667 to 6.863; P = .0007), high CRP (HR, 2.043; 95% CI, 1.019 to 4.097; P = .044), and high IL-6 (HR, 3.298; 95% CI, 1.598 to 6.808; P = .0013) were significantly associated with inferior OS. The formula of the InPI score was based on the HR value of these 3 variables. Three risk groups were formed: (good, 0 to 0.5 point; intermediate, 1 to 1.5 points; poor, 2 to 2.5 points). Median OS for patients with good, intermediate, and poor InPI was not reached, 24 months, and 4 months, respectively, and median PFS was 19.1 months, 12.3 months, and 2.9 months, respectively. In the cox proportional hazards model, poor InPI remained an independent prognostic factor for PFS and OS. Pre-infusion ferritin was negatively associated with CAR T-cell expansion normalized to baseline tumor burden. Spearman correlation analysis showed that pre-infusion ferritin and IL-6 levels positively correlated with the grade of CRS (P = .0369 and P = .0117, respectively). The incidence of severe CRS was higher in patients with high IL-6 compared with patients with low IL-6 (26% vs. 9%, P = .0405). Pre-infusion ferritin, CRP and IL-6 were positively correlated with each peak values within the first month after infusion.ConclusionsOur results suggest that patients with elevated inflammation markers before CAR-T cell infusion are more likely to have poor prognosis.

More and more electronic devices are integrated into the modern vehicles with the development of intelligent vehicles.There are various design flaws and vulnerabilities hidden in a large number of hardware, firmware and software.Therefore, the vulnerabilities of intelligent vehicles have become the most important factor affecting the vehicle safety.The safety of vehicles is seriously affected by the disclosure of a large number of vulnerabilities, and the wide application of smart cars is also restricted.Vulnerability management is an effective method to reduce the risk of vulnerabilities and improve vehicle security.And vulnerability scoring is one the important step in vulnerability management procedure.However, current method have no capability assessing automotive vulnerabilities reasonably.In order to handle this problem, a vulnerability scoring model for intelligent vehicles was proposed, which was based on CVSS.The attack vector and attack complexity were optimized, and property security, privacy security, functional safety and life safety were added to characterize the possible impact of the vulnerabilities according to the characteristics of intelligent vehicles.With the machine learning method, the parameters in CVSS scoring formula were optimized to describe the characteristics of intelligent vehicle vulnerabilities and adapt to the adjusted and new added weights.It is found in case study and statistics that the diversity and distribution of the model are better than CVSS, which means the model can better score different vulnerabilities.And then AHP is used to evaluate the vulnerability of the whole vehicle based on the vulnerability score of the model, a score is given representing the risk level of whole vehicle.The proposed model can be used to evaluate the severity of information security vulnerabilities in intelligent vehicles and assess the security risks of the entire vehicle or part of the system reasonably, which can provide an evidence for fixing the vulnerabilities or reinforcing the entire vehicle.

AIM: To identify and characterize the 100 most influential articles in the field of myopia over the last decades. METHODS: Articles on myopia published between January 1975 and March 2020 were searched through the Web of Science Core Collection database. Two independent authors reviewed and determined the 100 most cited articles. The characteristics of each eligible article were recorded, including authors, institutions, countries, journals, publication date, total citations (TCs), annual citations (ACs), research focus and article type. RESULTS: The top 100 most influential articles were published between 1983 and 2016, with 1999 as the most prolific year. The mean number of TCs was 288 (range: 193-537) and the mean number of ACs was 19 (range: 7-109). Treatment and epidemiology of myopia were the most important research focus. These articles were published in 21 journals led by Ophthalmology (29%) followed by Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science (23%). An ambient modal framework for inertia estimation using synchrophasor data is proposed in this letter. Specifically, an analytical formulation is developed for the estimation of inertia based on the frequency and damping ratio modes extracted from ambient data. An advantage of the proposed framework is that it can rely on synchronized ambient data under non-disturbed conditions for online estimation and tracking of inertia. Ultimately, numerical simulation studies and physical experiments demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach.

Near-surface air temperature (NSAT) playsan important role in land surface and atmosphere interactions. It is widely used in many fields, such as hydrology, climatology, and environment. Although remote sensing-based approaches for NSAT estimation have been proposed by the scientific communities, many of them are limited in cloudy areas and, thus, are not able to provide all-weather NSAT (AW-NSAT) estimates. To satisfy NSAT-related applications for all-weather conditions over the Tibetan Plateau (TP), this study develops a novel model for estimating daily 1-km AW-NSAT based on machine learning techniques. The input variables for the AW-NSAT model include land surface temperature (LST) from a newly released satellite all-weather LST dataset (i.e., TRIMS LST), as well as other parameters. The model is trained with in situ NSAT, and the results show that the random forest model with all-weather LST as the main input yields the best performance. Validation with independent in situ NSAT shows that the AW-NSAT estimate has good accuracy: An overall root-mean-square error of 2.43 °C and an R2 of 0.93. Intercomparison with an existing NSAT dataset based on MODIS LST shows that AW-NSAT has similar accuracy. Nevertheless, AW-NSAT has an evident spatial seamless characteristic, indicating that the developed model has good ability to overcome cloud contamination by introducing TRIMS LST. The developed model provides the possibility for generating the AW-NSAT for the whole TP. Furthermore, the proposed model can also be extended to other areas and then support NSATs subsequent applications.

AimsThe Ca+/NFAT (Nuclear factor of activated T cells) signaling pathway activation is implicated in the pathogenesis of Kawasaki disease (KD); however, we lack detailed information regarding the regulatory network involved in the human coronary endothelial cell dysfunction and cardiovascular lesion development. Herein, we aimed to use mouse and endothelial cell models of KD vasculitis in vivo and in vitro to characterize the regulatory network of NFAT pathway in KD.Methods and ResultsAmong the NFAT gene family, NFAT2 showed the strongest transcriptional activity in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from patients with KD. Then, NFAT2 overexpression and knockdown experiments in Human coronary artery endothelial cells (HCAECs) indicated that NFAT2 overexpression disrupted endothelial cell homeostasis by regulation of adherens junctions, whereas its knockdown protected HCAECs from such dysfunction. Combined analysis using RNA-sequencing and transcription factor (TF) binding site analysis in the NFAT2 promoter region predicted regulation by Forkhead box O4 (FOXO4). Western blotting, chromatin immunoprecipitation, and luciferase assays validated that FOXO4 binds to the promoter and transcriptionally represses NFAT2. Moreover, Foxo4 knockout increased the extent of inflamed vascular tissues in a mouse model of KD vasculitis. Functional experiments showed that inhibition NFAT2 relieved Foxo4 knockout exaggerated vasculitis in vivo.ConclusionsOur findings revealed the FOXO4/NFAT2 axis as a vital pathway in the progression of KD that is associated with endothelial cell homeostasis and cardiovascular inflammation development.

AimThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the graded transport mode in the intrahospital transport (IHT) of critically ill patients.MethodsThis is a retrospective study, including 800 patients and categorized them into control and observation groups. The control group included 420 critically ill patients who were transported via conventional methods from our emergency resuscitation unit from June 2017 to December 2017. The observation group included 380 critically ill patients who were transported through a graded transport mode from January 2018 to June 2018. We performed intergroup comparisons of the incidence rates and causes of adverse events (AEs), transport time, length of stay, and mortality rate.ResultsThe observation group had significantly lower transport time and AE incidence rates than the control group. However, no significant differences were observed in terms of the length of stay and mortality rate between the two groups.ConclusionThe most notable merits of the graded transport mode in the IHT of critical care patients include the fact that it significantly reduces the incidence of AEs during IHT, shortens the transport time, and improves transport efficiency, thereby ensuring the safety of critically ill patients.

IntroductionA contactless multiscale cardiac motion measurement method is proposed using impulse radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) radar at a center frequency of 7.29 GHz.MotivationElectrocardiograph (ECG), heart sound, and ultrasound are traditional state-of-the-art heartbeat signal measurement methods. These methods suffer from defects in contact and the existence of a blind information segment during the cardiogram measurement.MethodsExperiments and analyses were conducted using coarse-to-fine scale. Anteroposterior and along-the-arc measurements were taken from five healthy male subjects (aged 25–43) when lying down or prone. In every measurement, 10 seconds of breath-holding data were recorded with a radar 55 cm away from the body surface, while the ECG was monitored simultaneously as a reference.ResultsCardiac motion detection from the front was superior to that from the back in amplitude. In terms of radar detection angles, the best cardiac motion information was observed at a detection angle of 120°. Finally, in terms of cardiac motion cycles, all the ECG information, as well as short segments of cardiac motion details named blind ECGs segments, were detected.SignificanceA contactless and multiscale cardiac motion detection method is proposed with no blind detection of segments during the entire cardiac cycle. This paves the way for a potentially significant method of fast and accurate cardiac disease assessment and diagnosis that exhibits promising application prospects in contactless online cardiac monitoring and in-home healthcare.

ObjectiveSerum inflammatory biomarkers play crucial roles in the development of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). In this study, we explored the association between inflammatory biomarkers including platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and clinical outcomes in AIS patients who achieved successful recanalization.MethodsPatients with AIS who underwent endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) and achieved a modified thrombolysis in the cerebral infarction scale of 2b or 3 were screened from a prospective cohort at our institution between January 2013 and June 2021. Data on blood parameters and other baseline characteristics were collected. The functional outcome was an unfavorable outcome defined by a modified Rankin Scale of 3–6 at the 3-month follow up. Other clinical outcomes included symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) and 3-month mortality. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate the effects of PLR, NLR, and MLR on clinical outcomes.ResultsA total of 796 patients were enrolled, of which 89 (11.2%) developed sICH, 465 (58.4%) had unfavorable outcomes at 3 months, and 168 (12.1%) died at the 3-month follow up. After adjusting for confounding variables, a higher NLR (OR, 1.076; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.037–1.117; p < 0.001) and PLR (OR, 1.001; 95%CI, 1.000–1.003; p = 0.045) were significantly associated with unfavorable outcomes, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of NLR and PLR was 0.622 and 0.564, respectively. However, NLR, PLR, and MLR were not independently associated with sICH and 3-month mortality (all adjusted p > 0.05).ConclusionOverall, our results indicate that higher PLR and NLR were independently associated with unfavorable functional outcomes in AIS patients with successful recanalization after EVT; however, the underlying mechanisms are yet to be elucidated.

Introduction: To explore the mechanism of action of appling Radix Ginseng and Semen Ziziphi Spinosae Drug pair (R-S) in the treatment of insomnia by investigating the effect of R-S on GLU/GABA-GLN metabolic cycle and intestinal microflora of rats with insomnia.Methods: Rats were intraperitoneally injected with 4-chloro-DL-phenylalanine (PCPA) to make sleep deprivation (SD) models. The rats were divided into 6 groups, with 8 rats in each group. The general status of the rats was observed and the pentobarbital sodium sleep synergy experiment was performed. The contents of GABA, GLU, GLN, GAD65, and GS in hippocampus of rats were determined by ELISA. The expressions of GABAARα1mRNA, mGluR5mRNA, NR1mRNA and GluR1mRNA in rats’ hippocampal tissue were determined by Realtime PCR. 16SrRNA gene sequencing was used to analyze the intestinal microflora of insomnia rats.Results: In PCPA-induced insomnia rats, the state of insomnia was relieved, the sleep rate was improved, the duration of sleep latency was shortened and the sleep duration was prolonged in each dose group of R-S (p < 0.05, p < 0.01) compared with the model group. The contents of GABA, GLN, GAD65 and GS were increased (p < 0.05, p < 0.01) while GLU content was decreased (p < 0.01) in both medium and high dose groups, especially in the high dose group. The expression of GABAARα1mRNA was increased (p < 0.01), and the expressions of mGluR5mRNA, NR1mRNA and GluR1mRNA were decreased (p < 0.01) in hippocampal tissue of rats in R-S groups, especially in the high dose group. At the same time, the various dose groups of R-S could improve the species diversity, microflora abundance of insomnia rats and regulate the KEGG metabolic pathway related to sleep.Discussion: R-S can improve the sleep of PCPA-induced insomnia rats by regulating GLU/GABA-GLN metabolic cycle and intestinal microflora, which provides experimental basis for appling R-S in the treatment of insomnia.

BackgroundDepression and type 2 diabetes (T2D) are serious public health problems with irreversible health consequences and a significant economic burden on the healthcare system. Previous studies have suggested that blood urea nitrogen (BUN) was inversely longitudinally associated with incidence of diabetes and depression in adults, but few well-designed studies have examined the effects of status of T2D on the full range of relationship between BUN and depression.MethodsThe analysis sample consisted of adults aged≥20 years from the 2007-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) who completed the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ–9), involving 19,005 participants. By stratifying participants according to T2D status, we further assessed the difference between BUN and risk of depression in participants with and without T2D using multivariate logistic regression (interaction test).ResultsIn this cross-sectional study, the association between BUN and depression prevalence appeared to differ between the T2D and non-T2D groups (OR: 1.00, 95% Cl: 0.95-1.05 vs. OR: 0.89, 95% Cl: 0.85-0.93). In addition, there was evidence of an interaction between BUN levels and T2D status in reducing the risk of depression (P value for interaction = 0.032.) The relationship between BUN and depressive symptoms was significant in non-T2D subjects (P < 0.001), but not in T2D (P = 0.940).ConclusionsOur findings suggest that there is a significant relationship between BUN and depression, and T2D status may influence the association between BUN and the risk of depression. Such findings require further prospective studies to provide more evidence.

This study proposed an effective plastic deformation technique, rotating backward extrusion (RBE), for producing high performance AZ80 magnesium alloy cup-shaped pieces. The RBE process was carried on the Gleeble-3500 test machine at 653 K, and the conventional backward extrusion (CBE) was also conducted for comparison. A detailed microstructure analysis was performed using the optical microscopy (OM) and electron back-scatter diffraction (EBSD). The results shown that the equivalent strain and deformation uniformity of the cup pieces could be substantially increased by the RBE process compared with the CBE process. Furthermore, the RBE process could significantly improve the grain refining capacity and the proportion of dynamic recrystallization (DRX), of which the maximum reduction of grain size was 88.60%, and the maximum increase of DRX proportion was 55.30% in the cup bottom. The main deformation mechanism of the RBE process was the discontinuous DRX (DDRX), while the continuous DRX (CDRX) was also occurred in the cup transition. Compared with the CBE sample, the texture of the cup bottom was weakened for the RBE sample. The microhardness value of the RBE sample was higher than that of the CBE sample, which can be attributed to the grain refinement strengthening.

In recent years, the incidence of myopia has increased at an alarming rate among children and adolescents in China. The exploration of an effective prevention and control method for myopia is in urgent need. With the development of information technology in the past decade, artificial intelligence with the Internet of Things technology (AIoT) is characterized by strong computing power, advanced algorithm, continuous monitoring, and accurate prediction of long-term progression. Therefore, big data and artificial intelligence technology have the potential to be applied to data mining of myopia etiology and prediction of myopia occurrence and development. More recently, there has been a growing recognition that myopia study involving AIoT needs to undergo a rigorous evaluation to demonstrate robust results.

Abstract Background Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a sleep-related disorder with breathing difficulties. Previous studies revealed that epicardial fat thickness (EFT) correlates with OSA severity. Interestingly, female patients display a stronger EFT-OSA correlation than males. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between EFT and different clinical characteristics in pre- and post-menopausal women diagnosed with OSA. Methods Patients diagnosed with OSA were divided into pre/early peri-menopausal (Group 1) and post/late peri-menopausal (Group 2) according to the menopause status. EFT was obtained from parasternal long-axis echocardiographic images. We also collected general clinical characteristics of patients involved in this study, and performed spearman correlation analysis to explore the correlations between EFT and the general clinical characteristics. We further applied Multiple stepwise linear regression analysis to explore the predictors for EFT in both groups. Results A total number of 23 and 59 patients were enrolled in Group 1 and Group 2 respectively. EFT in Group 2 was significantly higher than that of Group 1. In both groups, EFT was positively correlated with apnea–hypopnea index (AHI), percentage of total sleep time when blood oxygen saturation was less than 90% (T90), oxygen desaturation index (ODI) and glucose; while EFT was negatively correlated with mean and lowest SaO2 (oxygen saturation) levels. However, EFT was positively correlated with total cholesterol (TC) only in Group 1 and body mass index (BMI) only in Group2, respectively. Multiple stepwise linear regression analysis showed that AHI was independently associated with EFT in Group 1. However, both AHI and BMI were independent predictors of EFT in Group 2. Conclusion EFT was notably correlated with menopausal status in women with OSA. AHI was the independent predictor of EFT in women with OSA. BMI was the independent predictor of EFT in post/late peri-menopausal women with OSA.

Abstract Background Our study aimed to explore the prevalence and risk factors of refractive error (RE) in Han and Tibetan population aged 50–79 years in Xining and surrounding areas in Qinghai Province on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Methods As part of the China National Health Survey, our cross-sectional study compared the age-adjusted prevalence of RE in Han and Tibetan older adults aged 50–79 years in Xining and surrounding areas. A multivariate logistic regression model was used to identify risk factors for myopia and hyperopia. Results Among 769 Han participants and 476 Tibetan participants, the age-adjusted prevalence of myopia (spherical equivalent (SE) + 0.5D), high myopia (SE = 0.5D) is 28.56, 22.82, 2.80, and 69.38%. Abstract Background The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence recommends documenting all delirium episodes in the discharge summary using the term “delirium”. Previous studies demonstrate poor delirium documentation rates in discharge summaries and no studies have assessed delirium documentation quality. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency and quality of delirium documentation in discharge summaries and explore differences between medical and surgical services. Methods This was a multi-center retrospective chart review. We included 110 patients aged ≥ 65 years identified to have delirium during their hospitalization using the Chart-based Delirium Identification Instrument (CHART-DEL). We assessed the frequency of any delirium documentation in discharge summaries, and more specifically, for the term “delirium”. We evaluated the quality of delirium discharge documentation using the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization’s framework for quality discharge summaries. Comparisons were made between medical and surgical services. Secondary outcomes included assessing factors influencing the frequency of “delirium” being documented in the discharge summary. Results We identified 110 patients with sufficient chart documentation to identify delirium and 80.9 % of patients had delirium documented in their discharge summary (“delirium” or other acceptable term). The specific term “delirium” was reported in 63.6 % of all delirious patients and more often by surgical than medical specialties (76.5 % vs. 52.5 %, p = 0.02). Abstract Background Late onset non-infectious pulmonary complications (LONIPCs) following allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) confer a significant mortality risk. Lung transplantation (LTx) has the potential to provide survival benefit but the impact of prior allo-HSCT on post-LTx outcomes is not well studied. Methods This retrospective, single-centre cohort study assessed the post-LTx outcomes of adults with LONIPCs of allo-HSCT. Outcomes of LTx for LONIPCs were compared to propensity-score matched LTx controls (n = 38, non-HSCT) and recipients of re-LTx (n = 70) for chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD). Results Nineteen patients underwent DLTx for LONIPCs of allo-HSCT between 2003 and 2019. Post-LTx survival was 50% at 5-years. Survival to 1-year post-LTx was similar to matched controls (p = 0.473). Survival, conditional on 1-year survival, was lower in the allo-HSCT cohort (p = 0.034). An increased risk of death due to infection was identified in the allo-HSCT cohort compared to matched controls (p = 0.003). Compared to re-LTx recipients, the allo-HSCT cohort had superior survival to 1-year post-LTx (p = 0.034) but conditional 1-year survival was similar (p = 0.145). Conclusion This study identifies an increased risk of post-LTx mortality in recipients with previous allo-HSCT, associated with infection. It supports the hypothesis that allo-HSCT LTx recipients are relatively more immunosuppressed than patients undergoing LTx for other indications. Optimisation of post-LTx immunosuppressive and antimicrobial strategies to account for this finding should be considered.

Lagerstroemia indica has great economic value due to its ecological, medicinal, and ornamental properties. Because its bloom color is one of the most essential characteristics, research into its color development is a hot topic. In this study, five representative colored cultivars were chosen, each representing a different color, such as white, red, pink, violet, and purple. Fully bloomed flowers were used to detect flavonoids in the petals. Anthocyanin is the main factor for the color formation of L. indica. 14 anthocyanins were discovered among the 299 flavonoids. Among 14 anthocyanins, malvidin-3,5-di-O-glucoside varied greatly among four colored samples and is the main contributor to color diversity. Transcriptome sequencing revealed that compared to white flowers, Anthocyanin pathway genes appear to be more active in colored samples. Analyzing the correlation network between metabolites and differential expressed genes, 53 key structural genes, and 24 TFs were detected that may play an essential role in the formation of color in L. indica flowers. Among these, the differential expression of F3′5′H and F3′H between all samples are contributors to color diversity. These findings lay the foundation for discovering the molecular mechanism of L. indica flower color diversity.

A prolonged period of vigilance task will lead to vigilance decrement and a drop in cognitive efficiency. Although transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) can be used to improve cognitive performance following vigilance decrement, the findings in this area of study are inconsistent. This study aims to identify the neuroelectrophysiological and behavioral effects of tDCS over the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) on executive vigilance under a continuous monotonous condition. We recruited 29 participants who randomly received 30 min active or sham tDCS before the vigilance task (anode electrode at the left DLPFC, cathode electrode at the right supraorbital area). Participants completed four sessions of vigilance task and five sessions of self-report sleepiness, Oddball task, and Go/Nogo task, for a total of about 5 h. EEG was acquired in real-time throughout the experiment. Repeated measures of ANOVA were utilized to analyze the evolution of each metric with task-on-time. The results demonstrated that subjective arousal state, vigilance performance, event-related potentials (ERPs), and EEG power were significantly affected by time on task. Brain stimulation did not significantly affect the evolution of subjective and objective executive vigilance performance, but significantly modulated spontaneous activity in the alpha and beta bands across the entire brain. The continuous enhancement of the prefrontal cortex increased P2 amplitude for the Oddball task, which was associated with the enhancement of the early stage of information processing. P3 amplitude had a temporary enhancement effect, which significantly decreased following a cognitive fatigue. tDCS had a continuous enhancement effect on N2 amplitude for the Go/Nogo task, which was associated with the enhanced inhibition of distracting stimuli. Together, the current data suggest that anodal tDCS over left DLPFC possibly enhances the early stage of relevant information processing and the inhibitory control of distracting stimuli during a continuous and monotonous vigilance task.

ObjectiveThis study aimed to develop and validate a nomogram to predict malignant cerebral artery infarction (MMI) after endovascular treatment (EVT) in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in the modern thrombectomy era.MethodsWe retrospectively analyzed data from a prospective cohort of consecutive patients with AIS who underwent EVT at Xuanwu hospital between January 2013 and June 2021. A multivariable logistic regression model was employed to construct the nomogram for predicting MMI after EVT. The discrimination and calibration of the nomogram were assessed both in the derivation and validation cohorts.ResultsA total of 605 patients were enrolled in this study, with 425 in the derivation cohort and 180 in the validation cohort. The nomogram was developed based on admission systolic blood pressure (SBP), the National Institute of Health Stroke Score (NIHSS), the Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography Score (ASPECTS), vessel occlusion site, EVT time window, and recanalization status. The nomogram displayed good discrimination with the area under the receiver operating characteristics (ROCs) curve (AUC) of 0.783 [95% confidence interval (CI), 0.726–0.840] in the derivation cohort and 0.806 (95% CI, 0.738–0.874) in the validation cohort. The calibration of the nomogram was good as well, with the Hosmer–Lemeshow test of p = 0.857 in the derivation cohort and p = 0.275 in the validation cohort.ConclusionIn the modern thrombectomy era, a nomogram containing admission SBP, NIHSS, ASPECTS, vessel occlusion site, EVT time window, and recanalization status may predict the risk of MMI after EVT in patients with AIS.

Tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa) is a traditional Chinese flower that is not resistant to high temperatures, and the frequent sunburn during summer limits its normal growth. The lack of understanding of the molecular mechanisms in tree peony has greatly restricted the improvement of novel heat-tolerant varieties. Therefore, we treated tree peony cultivar “Yuhong” (P. suffruticosa “Yuhong”) at normal (25°C) and high temperatures (40°C) and sequenced the transcriptomes, to investigate the molecular responsive mechanisms to heat stress. By comparing the transcriptomes, a total of 7,673 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were detected comprising 4,220 upregulated and 3,453 downregulated genes. Functional annotation showed that the DEGs were mainly related to the metabolic process, cells and binding, carbon metabolism, and endoplasmic reticulum protein processing. qRT-PCR revealed that three sHSP genes (PsHSP17.8, PsHSP21, and PsHSP27.4) were upregulated in the response of tree peony to heat stress. Tissue quantification of the transgenic lines (Arabidopsis thaliana) showed that all three genes were most highly expressed in the leaves. The survival rates of transgenic lines (PsHSP17.8, PsHSP21, and PsHSP27.4) restored to normal growth after high-temperature treatment were 43, 36, and 31%, respectively. In addition, the activity of superoxide dismutase, accumulation of free proline, and chlorophyll level was higher than those of the wild-type lines, while the malondialdehyde content and conductivity were lower, and the membrane lipid peroxidation reaction of the wild-type plant was more intense. Our research found several processes and pathways related to heat resistance in tree peony including metabolic process, single-organism process, phenylpropane biosynthesis pathway, and endoplasmic reticulum protein synthesis pathway. PsHSP17.8, PsHSP21, and PsHSP27.4 improved heat tolerance by increasing SOD activity and proline content. These findings can provide genetic resources for understanding the heat-resistance response of tree peony and benefit future germplasm innovation.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a major global public health burden, with β-cell dysfunction a key component in its pathogenesis. However, the exact pathogenesis of β-cell dysfunction in T2D is yet to be fully elucidated. Ferroptosis, a recently discovered regulated form of non-apoptotic cell death, plays a vital role in the development of diabetes and its complications. The current study aimed to identify the key molecules involved in β-cell ferroptosis3 in patients with T2D using the mRNA expression profile data of GSE25724 by bioinformatic approaches. The differentially expressed mRNAs (DE-mRNAs) in human islets of patients with T2D were screened using the islet mRNA expression profiling data from the Gene Expression Omnibus and their intersection with ferroptosis genes was then obtained. Ferroptosis-related DE-mRNA functional and pathway enrichment analysis in T2D islet were performed. Using a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network constructed from the STRING database, Cytoscape software identified ferroptosis-related hub genes in the T2D islet with a Degree algorithm. We constructed a miRNA-hub gene network using the miRWalk database. We generated a rat model of T2D to assess the expression of hub genes. A total of 1,316 DE-mRNAs were identified in the islet of patients between T2D and non-T2D (NT2D), including 221 and 1,095 up- and down-regulated genes. Gene set enrichment analysis revealed that the ferroptosis-related gene set was significantly different in islets between T2D and NT2D at an overall level. A total of 33 ferroptosis-related DE-mRNAs were identified, most of which were significantly enriched in pathways including ferroptosis. The established PPI network with ferroptosis-related DE-mRNAs identified five hub genes (JUN, NFE2L2, ATG5, KRAS, and HSPA5), and the area under the ROC curve of these five hub genes was 0.929 in the Logistic regression model. We constructed a regulatory network of hub genes and miRNAs, and the results showed that suggesting that hsa-miR-6855-5p, hsa-miR-9985, and hsa-miR-584-5p could regulate most hub genes. In rat model of T2D, the protein expression levels of JUN and NFE2L2 in pancreatic tissues were upregulated and downregulated, respectively. These results contribute to further elucidation of ferroptosis-related molecular mechanisms in the pathogenesis of β-cell dysfunction of T2D.

Clusterin (CLU) is an extracellular chaperone involved in reducing amyloid beta (Aβ) toxicity and aggregation. Although previous genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have reported a potential protective effect of CLU on Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients, how intron-located rs11136000 (CLU) affects AD risk by regulating CLU expression remains unknown. In this study, we integrated multiple omics data to construct the regulated pathway of rs11136000-CLU-AD. In step 1, we investigated the effects of variant rs11136000 on AD risk with different genders and diagnostic methods using GWAS summary statistics for AD from International Genomics of Alzheimer’s Project (IGAP) and UK Biobank. In step 2, we assessed the regulation of rs11136000 on CLU expression in AD brain samples from Mayo clinic and controls from Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx). In step 3, we investigated the differential gene/protein expression of CLU in AD and controls from four large cohorts. The results showed that rs11136000 T allele reduced AD risk in either clinically diagnosed or proxy AD patients. By using expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) analysis, rs11136000 variant downregulated CLU expression in 13 normal brain tissues, but upregulated CLU expression in cerebellum and temporal cortex of AD samples. Importantly, CLU was significantly differentially expressed in temporal cortex, dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and anterior prefrontal cortex of AD patients compared with normal controls. Together, rs11136000 may reduce AD risk by regulating CLU expression, which may provide important information about the biological mechanism of rs9848497 in AD progress.

Abstract Energy and reserve markets are two important market components in the deregulated power industry. Energy markets provide a platform for generating companies, retailers, and big energy consumers to centrally trade electricity. However, owing to the varying renewable power generation, load variation and unexpected contingencies, energy supply and consumption always embody high uncertainties. Furthermore, due to the lack of low‐cost, large‐capacity energy storage devices, an instant balance between the generation and load is required under these uncertainties. Therefore, the reserve market is set up to address the balance‐disruptive uncertainties intrinsic to the power grid. Although this combined market design reduces the risk of the possible imbalance in energy supply and consumption, it does not guarantee that the frequency of the grid is satisfactory, even in the normal operation. This study analyzes the insufficiency of the energy and reserve market design in addressing frequency quality problems by exploring the root causes for the deteriorating frequency quality in the Australian National Electricity Market. A novel framework that incorporates the frequency quality, control capacity, and control cost to achieve the desired frequency quality is then presented. Case studies through a simple power system and the IEEE 30‐bus system demonstrate the efficacy of the presented methods.

Abstract Simulated hypobaric hypoxia (SHH) training has been used to enhance running performance. However, no studies have evaluated the effects of a single SHH exposure on healthy mice performance and analyzed the changes of mitochondria-related genes in the central nervous system. The current study used a mouse decompression chamber to simulate mild hypobaric hypoxia at the high altitude of 5000 m or severe hypobaric hypoxia at 8000 m for 16 h (SHH5000 & SHH8000, respectively). Then, the mouse behavioral tests were recorded by a modified Noldus video tracking. Third, the effects of SHH on 8 mitochondria-related genes of Drp1, Mfn1, Mfn2, Opa1, TFAM, SGK1, UCP2 and UCP4, were assessed in cerebellum, hippocampus and gastrocnemius muscles. The results have shown that a single mild or severe HH improves healthy mice performance. In cerebellum, 6 of all 8 detected genes (except Mfn2 and UCP4) did not change after SHH. In hippocampus, all detected genes did not change after SHH. In muscles, 7 of all 8 detected genes (except Opa1) did not change after SHH. The present study has indicated the benefit of a single SHH in healthy mice performance, which would due to the stabilized mitochondria against a mild stress state.

To overcome the shortcomings of model-driven state estimation methods, this paper proposes a data-driven robust state estimation (DDSE) method through off-line learning and on-line matching. At the off-line learning stage, a linear regression equation is presented by clustering historical data from supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), which provides a guarantee for solving the over-learning problem of the existing DDSE methods; then a novel robust state estimation method that can be transformed into quadratic programming (QP) models is proposed to obtain the mapping relationship between the measurements and the state variables (MRBMS). The proposed QP models can well solve the problem of collinearity in historical data. Furthermore, the off-line learning stage is greatly accelerated from three aspects including reducing historical categories, constructing tree retrieval structure for known topologies, and using sensitivity analysis when solving QP models. At the on-line matching stage, by quickly matching the current snapshot with the historical ones, the corresponding MRBMS can be obtained, and then the estimation values of the state variables can be obtained. Simulations demonstrate that the proposed DDSE method has obvious advantages in terms of suppressing over-learning problems, dealing with collinearity problems, robustness, and computation efficiency.

Abstract Background Frequent activation of the co-transcriptional factor YAP is observed in a large number of solid tumors. Activated YAP associates with enhancer loci via TEAD4-DNA-binding protein and stimulates cancer aggressiveness. Although thousands of YAP/TEAD4 binding-sites are annotated, their functional importance is unknown. Here, we aim at further identification of enhancer elements that are required for YAP functions. Results We first apply genome-wide ChIP profiling of YAP to systematically identify enhancers that are bound by YAP/TEAD4. Next, we implement a genetic approach to uncover functions of YAP/TEAD4-associated enhancers, demonstrate its robustness, and use it to reveal a network of enhancers required for YAP-mediated proliferation. We focus on EnhancerTRAM2, as its target gene TRAM2 shows the strongest expression-correlation with YAP activity in nearly all tumor types. Interestingly, TRAM2 phenocopies the YAP-induced cell proliferation, migration, and invasion phenotypes and correlates with poor patient survival. Mechanistically, we identify FSTL-1 as a major direct client of TRAM2 that is involved in these phenotypes. Thus, TRAM2 is a key novel mediator of YAP-induced oncogenic proliferation and cellular invasiveness. Conclusions YAP is a transcription co-factor that binds to thousands of enhancer loci and stimulates tumor aggressiveness. Using unbiased functional approaches, we dissect YAP enhancer network and characterize TRAM2 as a novel mediator of cellular proliferation, migration, and invasion. Our findings elucidate how YAP induces cancer aggressiveness and may assist diagnosis of cancer metastasis.

As a novel intervention technique, controlled reperfusion has promising effects on protecting multiple organs from RI, and it is done by adjusting physical parameters of blood flow or chemical compositions of the reperfusion liquid. In this brief review, the status of various controlled reperfusion methods is presented, as well as their application in the protection of ischemic organs.

Technological evolution has brought great changes to traditional industries. Nowadays farmers obtain great benefits such as intelligent production and convenient management from intelligent agriculture. Nevertheless, there still exists many flaws in current solutions. Deficiencies in energy management, data transmission and privacy preservation are supposed to be solved. In this paper, the privacy preserved cyber-physical searching framework is proposed to tackle these problems. This four-layer framework can provide a convenient way for farmers to manage production by simply searching for information they interested in. The data source layer contains many sensors for data collection. The data aggregation layer consists of data aggregation nodes deployed in the farms. The data transfer layer employs drones for retrieving data from data aggregation nodes. The cloud control layer is responsible for searching requests processing and privacy preservation. To realize better data collection and searching. The information centric network is introduced into this framework. Moreover, some methods are employed for privacy preservation. The simulation results show the feasibility of this framework.

Microblog information tracing refers to finding the source set of microblog topics according to the analysis of crawled microblog texts and it’s of great significance in the aspect of public opinion control and information security.A user interests-based tracing method (ITM) was proposed.The proposed method calculates the influence of the blogger based on the interest of the microblog blogger,and also calculates the influence of the commentators based on the interest of the commentators.The ranking algorithm was used to score the blogs according to publication time,notability and influence,and the source of the blogs was traced according to the blog score rank.Experimental results show that the accuracy of the proposed algorithm improved about 21% compared with the traditional tracing algorithms.

Abstract Hyperlipidemia is correlated with a series of health problems. Notably, aside from its established role in promoting cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, hyperlipidemia has also been considered for modulating the risk and the severity of multiple metabolic disorders. According to the results of epidemiologic investigations, several certain circulating lipoprotein species are correlated with the prevalence of diabetic retinopathy, suggesting that the physiological and pathological role of these lipoproteins is analogous to that observed in cardiovascular diseases. Furthermore, the lipid-lowering treatments, particularly using statin and fibrate, have been demonstrated to ameliorate diabetic retinopathy. Thereby, current focus is shifting towards implementing the protective strategies of diabetic retinopathy and elucidating the potential underlying mechanisms. However, it is worth noting that the relationship between major serum cholesterol species and the development of diabetic retinopathy, published by other studies, was inconsistent and overall modest, revealing the relationship is still not clarified. In this review, the current understanding of hyperlipidemia in pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy was summarized and the novel insights into the potential mechanisms whereby hyperlipidemia modulates diabetic retinopathy were put forward.

Abstract Background Patients with sexually transmitted infections (STIs) experience difficulties with stability and trust in long-term relationships and have poor mental health, factors that may lead to suicidal ideation. We sought to verify whether psychosocial health problems among patients with STIs were associated with these patients’ suicidal ideation and to examine the syndemic effect of multiple psychosocial problems on suicidal ideation. Methods This was a cross-sectional study of 519 STI patients at the Shanghai Skin Disease Hospital. Demographic, psychosocial, and suicidal ideation information about the participants was collected by questionnaire. Logistic regressions were performed to detect the association between demographic variables and suicidal ideation, as well as each individual psychosocial variable and suicidal ideation, and to verify the syndemic effect of psychosocial factors. Results Of the participants, 25.0% (130/519) reported having suicidal ideation. In univariable analysis, low self-esteem, loneliness, depression, entrapment, defeat, and unsatisfied interpersonal needs were associated with suicidal ideation. Multivariable analysis found depression (odds ratio [OR]: 4.1; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.3–7.2) and entrapment (OR: 2.1; 95%CI: 1.1–4.1) each had a more significant relation with suicidal ideation than the other psychosocial problems examined. STI patients who experienced two or more psychosocial health problems had approximately fourfold odds of suicide ideation (adjusted OR [AOR]: 4.2; 95%CI: 2.6–6.8) compared with those in the non-syndemic group, especially in the high-level (five or more psychosocial problems) group (AOR: 7.0; 95%CI: 3.9–12.5). Conclusions The study found the participants had a high rate of suicidal ideation and suffered from severe psychosocial problems. These results show a syndemic effect of psychosocial problems on increasing the odds of suicidal ideation. Our findings suggest an urgent need for efforts to prevent suicidal ideation among STI patients toward improving the social and health conditions of this population.

Abstract Background This study aimed to determine the efficacy and complications of intravitreal chemotherapy-assisted endoresection for refractory International Classification of Retinoblastoma (ICRB) group D retinoblastoma in monocular patients. Methods In this retrospective case series, intravitreal chemotherapy-assisted endoresection by pars plana vitrectomy was performed in 11 eyes with refractory ICRB group D retinoblastoma unresponsive to standard therapies in monocular patients. Results Across a mean follow-up period of 42.7 months, globe salvage was attained in all 11 eyes (100%). There were no cases of extra-ocular tumour seeding or remote metastasis. In 9 eyes (81.8%), tumour control was achieved with one pars plana vitrectomy; in 2 cases (18.2%), repeated treatment, such as laser therapy, intravitreal chemotherapy or a second pars plana vitrectomy, was needed. Retinal reattachment was achieved in all 4 eyes (100%) with previous retinal detachment. Four eyes (36.4%) required subsequent cataract surgery due to secondary cataract. Ten eyes (90.9%) had improvement in best-corrected visual acuity at the last follow-up. Conclusion Intravitreal chemotherapy-assisted endoresection appears to be a safe and effective globe-salvaging method for refractory group D retinoblastoma. It is a promising alternative to enucleation and a supplementary therapeutic strategy for those unresponsive to standard therapies, especially for the monocular retinoblastoma patients.

According to the steady state of fault and energy balance, we provided a new idea to observe the precursors for a stressed fault. The meta-instability (or sub-instability) state of a fault is defined as the transition phase from peak stress to critical stress of fast instability (earthquake generation) during a full period of slow loading and fast unloading. The accumulative deformation energy begins to release in this stage. Identifying its deformation before fast instability would be beneficial to obtain premonitory information, and to evaluate the seismic risks of tectonic regions. In this study, we emphasized to analyze deformation process of the meta-instable stage with stain tensor data from a straight precut fault in granite at a slow loading rate, and observed the tempo-spatial features during the full deformation process of the fault. Two types of tectonic zones and instabilities occur on the stick-slip fault. The low- and high-value segments in the volume strain component appear along the fault strike with a load increment. The former first weakens and then becomes initial energy release segments; the latter forms strong stress-interlocking areas and finally turns into the initial region of fast instability. And there are two stages in the entire instable process of the fault: the initial stage is associated with the release of the low volume strain segments, which means fault pre-slips, slow earthquakes or weak earthquakes. The second one characterizes a strong earthquake through the release of high volume strain parts. The rupture acceleration in the first stage promotes the generation of the second. Moreover, fault instability contains two types of strain adjustments along the fault: the front-like strain change along the transition segments from low- to high- strain portions with volume strain release, and the compressive strain pulse of fault instability after the volume strain release extends to a certain range with loading increment. In laboratory experiments, the front-type strain occurs about 12 seconds before fast fault instability; the compressive pulse initiates within less than 0.1 second, and then the fault turns quickly into a dynamic strain adjustment, which appears quasi-synchronously between different measurement points, and, finally, an earthquake is generated.

With the development of automobile intelligence, the security of the Internet of Vehicles has become a key factor that affects the development of intelligent vehicles. However, existing security risk analysis methods for the IoV either focus only on certain levels, such as the component level, or perform only a static analysis. This paper proposes a dynamic attack graph generation method for the IoV to identify and visually display the security risks caused by the associated vulnerabilities in an IoV system. First, using the actual architecture of the IoV, this paper shows how to model the security elements and their relationships in the IoV system and proposes a network security ontology model for this system. Second, it shows how to construct a reasoning rule base according to the causal relationship between the vulnerabilities using the Semantic Web Rule Language Finally, in view of the rapid change in the network topology of the IoV, a dynamic attack graph generation algorithm based on an ontology reasoning engine is proposed, which can effectively reduce the overhead caused by the changes in the attack graph. The effectiveness of the algorithm is demonstrated through an actual security event scenario and a constructed scenario. The experimental results show that the algorithm can dynamically and accurately display the network attack graph of the IoV. The proposed method is helpful in globally analyzing the threat caused by the combined exploitation of the vulnerabilities in an IoV system and risk management.

Heat shock transcription factors (HSFs) are among the most important regulators of plant responses to abiotic stimuli. They play a key role in numerous transcriptional regulatory processes. However, the specific characteristics of HSF gene family members and their expression patterns in different tissues and under drought stress have not been precisely investigated in Heimia myrtifolia. This study analyzed transcriptome data from H. myrtifolia and identified 15 members of the HSF family. Using a phylogenetic tree, these members were classified into three major classes and fifteen groups. The amino acid physicochemical properties of these members were also investigated. The results showed that all HmHSF genes are located in the nucleus, and multiple sequence alignment analysis revealed that all HmHSF proteins have the most conserved DBD structural domains. Interestingly, a special HmHSF15 protein was found in the three-dimensional structure of the protein, which has a conserved structural domain that performs a function in addition to the unique structural domain of HSF proteins, resulting in a three-dimensional structure for HmHSF15 that is different from other HmHSF proteins. GO enrichment analysis shows that most HmHSFA-like genes are part of various biological processes associated with abiotic stresses. Finally, this study analyzed the tissue specificity of HmHSF genes in different parts of H. myrtifolia by qRT-PCR and found that HmHSF genes were more abundantly expressed in roots than in other tissues, and HmHSF05, HmHSF12, and HmHSF14 genes were different from other HSF genes, which could be further analyzed to verify their functionality. The results provide a basis for analyzing the functions of HmHSF genes in H. myrtifolia and help to explore the molecular regulatory mechanism of HmHSF in response to drought stress.
