Herein, a new approach relying on six parameters has been proposed to design the high-entropy alloy (HEA) with a single-phase BCC solid solution based on the Mg–Ti–V–Zr–Nb system. The Mg 10 Ti 30 V 25 Zr 10 Nb 25 alloy was selected among 5152 calculated compositions. Subsequently, the HEA is prepared by mechanical alloying and introduced into the Mg to study the effect of HEA on the hydrogen storage performance of Mg/MgH 2 system. Results show that the HEA exhibits excellent hydrogen absorption kinetics at room temperature, while the hydrogen absorption capacity is about 1.196 wt%. Moreover, the addition of HEA can significantly improve the hydrogen absorption and desorption kinetics of Mg at low temperatures. The dehydrogenation activation energy of the composites reduces from 121.94 ± 4.08 to 91.66 ± 1.31 kJ mol−1, and HEA exhibits good catalytic activity. The initial hydrogenation and dehydrogenation temperatures of Mg‒15 wt% HEA composite are about 418 K and 526 K, which are 78 K and 47 K lower than pure Mg, respectively. The Mg‒15 wt% HEA composite has good cycling stability. Lactiplantibacillus plantarum M660 (M660) was isolated from the human milk of a healthy mother. M660 could survive the simulated gastrointestinal conditions without haemolytic and biogenic amine‐producing ability. The faecal water content was reduced, and the recoveries of the cecum and intestinal barrier were accelerated by M660 in the antibiotic‐associated diarrhoea model. In the constipation model, M660 enhanced intestinal motility, improved serum neurotransmitter levels, and reduced colonic injury. Analysis of gut microbiota showed that M660 increased the abundance of potentially beneficial bacteria and decreased the number of potentially pathogenic bacteria. As the country has loosened its family planning policy and living standards have improved, postnatal obesity has become a social problem seriously threatening public health in China, which has attracted widespread attention from all walks of life. Therefore, a method for improving postpartum obesity urgently needs to be explored. Intestinal microecology is critical to the health of mothers and children, and plays an important role in the occurrence and development of obesity. Improving intestinal microecology as an effective way to improve obesity has attracted more and more attention. This article focuses on the relationship between postnatal obesity and intestinal microecology and summarizes the mechanisms of action of probiotics and prebiotics in regulating intestinal microecology to suppress postpartum obesity. The purpose of this article is to provide a theoretical basis for probiotic-prebiotic intervention based on intestinal microecology to suppress postpartum obesity.

Background and Aims: Vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF ) gene polymorphisms are associated with the response to pharmaceutical therapy in many cancers. This study aimed to investigate the effects of VEGF gene polymorphisms in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients receiving pharmaceutical therapy., Methods: This literature-based meta-analysis was performed with keywords related to VEGF gene polymorphisms and clinical response in esophageal squamous carcinoma patients receiving pharmaceutical therapy (including 5-FU, cisplatin, oxaliplatin, and calcium folinate). After a series of bias grading analyses and DerSimonian-Laird method analysis, odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals were calculated to examine the potential relationships. Sensitivity and subgroup analyses were subsequently performed to determine the major causes of heterogeneity., Results: Heterogeneity was dramatically reduced after the removal of one study from the analysis ( I 2 = 37%, P = 0.19). The remaining studies involved 5-FU-based treatment. The presence of VEGF G-1154A and VEGF-634C/G was found to be correlated with patient response to 5-FU/CDDP-based treatment, whereas VEGF - 2549I/D was correlated with response to 5-FU/oxaliplatin-based treatment, and VEGF-936C/T was associated with both 5-FU/CDDP- and 5-FU/oxaliplatin-based treatment response., Conclusion: VEGF gene polymorphisms affect the response of esophageal squamous carcinoma patients receiving pharmaceutical therapy, especially 5-FU-based treatments., Competing Interests: Declaration of conflicting interestsThe author(s) declared no potential conflicts of interest with respect to the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.

Here, a series of transition metal (Ni) doped iron-based perovskite oxides LaFe 1- x Ni x O 3- δ ( x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1) were prepared, and then the perovskite oxide with the optimized nickel-iron ratio was doped with non-metallic elements (N). Experimental and theoretical investigations reveal that the co-doping breaks the traditional linear constraint relationship ( G OOH - G OH = 3.2 eV) and the theoretical overvoltage is reduced from 0.64 V (LaFeO 3- δ ) to 0.44 V (LaFe 0.5 Ni 0.5 O 3- δ /N). Specifically, Ni-doping can accelerate electron transfer and improve the conductivity. Moreover, N-doping can reduce the adsorption energy of *OH/*O and enhance the adsorption energy of *OOH. We demonstrated that the optimized cation and anion co-doped LaFe 0.5 Ni 0.5 O 3- δ /N perovskite oxide exhibits an excellent OER performance, with a low overpotential of 270.6 mV at 10 mA cm -2 and a small Tafel slope of 65 mV dec -1 in 1 M KOH solution, markedly exceeding that of the parent perovskite oxide LaFeO 3- δ (300.9 mV) and commercial IrO 2 (289.1 mV). It also delivers decent durability with no significant degradation after a 35 h stability test. This work reveals the internal mechanism of perovskite oxide by doping cation and anion for water oxidation, which broadens the idea for the rational design of new perovskite-based sustainable energy catalysts.
