Statistics is a significant tool for dealing with large amounts of data nowadays, because it enables scientists to summarize data into a format that many results could be drawn from it. In this article, evaluation of mechanical engineering publications in Iran between years 2010 and 2021 is investigated with statistical methods. This study examines both domestic and international contributions in different institutions or/and organizations, citation and fields of interest affecting of Iranian authors’ tastes while it is taken to account. Five aspects, the sub research area in mechanical engineering based on Web of Science™ [1] categories, total international collaboration(s), institutional or academic cooperation, the most approbative research inclination and the years of publish are measured statistically. The results indicate that more than 4.6% of articles is published mutually with American scientists in one hand, and in the other hand, “Mechanics” seems to be the most tendency for Iranian authors while publishing their research. Additionally, the year 2019 was reported the busiest year for Iranian publication with over 1650 published articles.

Cobalt oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by thermal decomposition of cobalt alginate biopolymer gel at 350 oC and 450 oC. Because of its attributes like gel responsiveness, non toxic, ion crosslinking and low cost, alginate was used to produce Cobalt oxide nanoparticles. The gel beads were prepared and the results were characterized. The confirmation of the cobalt oxide, graine size distribution and also the crystallite size was carried out using XRD analysis, TEM analysis was done to determine the particle size. The results shows the size of the cobalt oxide nanoparticles to be 32nm, GSD was also calculated using th full width at 1/5 and 4/5 of maximum of the XRD peaks. EDS coupled with SEM analysis shows the elements present in the CoNPs with their percentage.

A wound is a break or tears in the continuity of the skin or mucosa epithelial lining caused by physical or thermal trauma. Wound dressings need strong mechanical capabilities, good antibacterial qualities, and, more importantly, natural material components. This study combined the advantages of alginate and carboxymethylcellulose crosslinked with zinc. Films were distinguished by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), light transmittance, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), swelling experiments and water vapour transmittance tests. The antimicrobial and physical properties of the films were compared with similar studies. Wound dressing based on zinc crosslinked alginate and carboxymethyl cellulose films gained antibacterial activity against Gram-negative (Escherichia coli) and Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) bacteria. Wound dressing based on zinc crosslinked alginate and carboxymethyl cellulose films can be ultraviolet-protecting and antibacterial wound dressings.

Biopolymer-nanoparticle composites are one of the emerging materials in the interdisciplinary applications for biomedical science, mechanical engineering and chemistry. This kind of materials exhibit very useful properties such as biocompatibility, high surface area, and drug entrapment. Especially for biological applications, swelling properties of the materials are one of the very important parameters. Sustained release and diffusion parameters of the biochemical agents and drugs are related to the absorption of the liquid which the nanocomposite matrix is in contact with. In this experimental study, the swelling parameters of cerium oxide-calcium alginate nanocomposites in three different liquid medium, namely pure water, isotonic sodium chloride solution, and simulated gastric fluid is investigated. Here, nanoparticles of cerium oxide are synthesized by cerium-alginate biopolymer route and then dispersed in sodium alginate solution in order to achieve a homogeneous dispersion. Due to the origin of the nanoparticles, to the best of our knowledge, this kind of study is also reported for the first time in the literature.

WOS:000479380300001 In this article, chemistry research in 51 different European countries between years 2006 and 2016 was studied using statistical methods. This study consists of two parts: In the first part, different economical, institutional and citation parameters were correlated with the number of publications, citations and chemical industry numbers using principal components analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis. The results of the first part indicated that economical and geographical parameters directly affect the chemistry research outcome. In the second part, research in branches of chemistry and related disciplines such as analytical chemistry, polymer science and physical chemistry were analysed using principal components analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis for each country. Publication data were collected as the number of chemistry publications (in Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-E)) between years 2006 and 2016 in different chemistry subdisciplines and related scientific areas. Results of the second part of the study produced geographical and economical clusters of countries, interestingly, without addition of any geographical data.

Alginate biopolymer has several applications-especially in biological fields such as drug release, tissue engineering, and wound dressing, due to its biodegradable, biocompatible, and non-toxic properties. Copper ion has been used in previous wound dressing studies for its antimicrobial property. In this thesis study, firstly, copper crosslinked alginate beads (Alg) were prepared using the quasi-cryogelation method. Their swelling profile was investigated since alginate forms hydrogel in the presence of divalent cations. Swelling experiments were performed in two solutions, pure water and 0,9% (w/v) isotonic. Swelling ratios were found as 29% in purified water and 24% in an isotonic solution. Secondly, Alginate beads were modified by the quasi-cryogelation method. In this way, it was aimed to improve the swelling degree with the increasing porosity of beads. The swelling degree of Quasi-Alg beads was found as 295% in pure water and 260% in an isotonic solution. This study exhibits a method to increase the swelling ratio of hydrogels. Since the swelling ratio is essential for drug release to effectively release the drug or for wound dressing films to supply enough moisture to wound, Quasi-Alg beads may comprise a basis for such applications.

The use of 5 GHz Wi-Fi has spread and potential effects on microorganisms and human health are still under investigation. To investigate the possible effects for that, experiments were performed using three different microorganisms, Escherichia coli, SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cells and Caernohabditis elegans. The maximum allowed temperature for the Wi-Fi Access Point (AP) was considered in the measurement setup in order not to harm the internal circuitry of the router which can result impact the performance of the router. Suspension turbidity, optical density measurements and simultaneous counting of E. coli were performed. It was observed that 5 GHz Wi-Fi exposure slow down the E. coli growth rate at the same temperature conditions with sham exposed groups especially after the first 6 h. 5 GHz Wi-Fi induced decrease in cell viability remarkably for the cells seeded at densities 20,40, 100 (×103) and viability values were varied between 20 and 30%. C. elegans which is a nematode, plays key role in nutrient cycling and soil fertilization was affected by the radiation and egg-laying rates changed by 27.49%. 5 GHz kablosuz internet bağlantılarının yaygınlaşmasıyla, bu dalgaların mikroorganizmalar ve insan sağlığı üzerindeki etkileri halen incelenmektedir. Dahası, C. elegans gibi besin döngüsü ve toprağın doğal gübrelemesinde önemli bir rol oynayan ipliksisolucanın yumurta bırakma yüzdesi 27.49 % oranında düşmüştür.

Mechanical properties are important to choose the suitable material in the manufacturing of boats. In this research, the effect of glass fiber orientations and the fillers weight fraction on the Mechanical properties of composite materials that contain unsaturated polyester as a base material were studied in two cases, the first case is test the samples at room temperature, while in the second case the samples are tested after immersed it in sea water for 14 days. Tensile strength, impact resistance and water absorption tests were performed. The glass fibers were used at (0/0, 0/90, 45/45) angles with 30% wt. The carbon and the aluminum oxide Nano be used as fillers with (2.5%, 5%, 7.5%) and (0%, 1%, 3%) weight fraction respectively. The standard Taguchi’s array L9 (33 ) was used. The analysis of mean, the signal to noise ratio and analysis of variance were introduced to analyze and estimate the optimal combination parameters. The results show that the mechanical properties improved by rather than that of pure unsaturated polyester. The glass fibers orientations angle presents the most parameter effect than the other parameters on the elasticity modulus, tensile resistance and impact resistance with a contribution of 81.8%, 83.39% and 96.75% respectively. Followed by carbon and aluminum oxide Nano filler. Carbon filler is the most parameter effect in the water absorption test than the other parameters with a contribution of 44.31%, followed by fiber orientation angle and aluminum oxide Nano filler. The optimum parameter with their levels for the highest elastic modulus was obtained at (0/90 fiber orientation, 2.5% carbon and 1% Nano aluminum oxide filler). While the highest tensile resistance and impact resistance present with using (0/0 fiber orientation, 5% carbon filler and 1 aluminum oxide nanofiller). It was found that the lowest value of water absorption was at (0/0 fiber orientation, 2.5% carbon filler and 0% aluminum oxide Nano filler). In the case of samples that were immersed in sea water for 14 days, it was found that the most parameter effect than the other parameters on the modulus of elasticity and water absorption was the aluminum oxide Nano filler with a contribution of 36.53% and 40.58% respectively, followed by the carbon filler and finally the direction of the fiber. And it was found that the parameter most influence on tensile resistance and impact resistance is the direction angle of the fiber, where its contribution was 78.6% and 91.42% respectively, followed by alumina oxide Nano filler and finally carbon filler. It can be noticed that the sea water will influenced the parameters and their level effects on the composite properties.

Thermal analysis was used to examine the feasibility of utilizing a solar water heating systems for greenhouse heating in this investigation. Land heat storage is a major factor in this scheme. Some types of resources, such as electricity, are studied in this thesis, to see how they can be decreased in consumption in Erbil district, and the goals of the current project are to implement a system that requires a minimum amount of electricity for greenhouse heating. In order to preheat the soil and air, as well as build a dense polypropylene greenhouse firstly have been done a small hole in the soil to a depth of 0.3 m. A custom greenhouse system was constructed, and flat solar panels were employed to observe the effect. In this system two storage tanks and an equipment which reduces the water hardness was used. In addition to this, solar irradiation properties in Erbil City was also given in this study. Results indicate that this heating system is advantageous for use in Erbil City, Iraq.

Annealing is a process that often results in aggregation of the crystallite particles and therefore an increase in crystallite size is often observed. In this study, the behavior of biopolymer-assisted synthesized cerium oxide nanoparticles under the influence of annealing is investigated. Cerium (III) alginate hydrogels were thermally decomposed at 450 °C to synthesize cerium oxide nanoparticles, which is reported in literature as a green method and results in surface functionality of the nanoparticles. The particles were annealed at two different temperatures (600 and 800 °C) for 2, 4 and 8 hours. X-ray diffraction was used to characterize the powder samples for observing the average crystallite sizes, which were calculated using Scherrer’s equation. Additionally, the grain size distribution of the nanoparticles is also studied by a semi-numerical method based on diffraction patterns. Results indicate that the annealing increases the sample size 2 to 4 times, which can be useful for designing the average crystallite size in advanced studies such as optics and drug delivery.

There are many studies which reported the nanoparticles could develop the rheological behavior and the properties of filtration for water-based mud. Different types of nanoparticles were used in the experiment including silicon oxide and aluminum oxide, which were evaluated at three concentrations. In addition, the development and comparison of a new fluids utilizing a biopolymer (xanthan gum)/nanoparticle (Al2O3 and SiO2) mix to optimize the properties of a water-based mud (WBM) formulation. In this research, the main objective is to compare the influence of changing the amount of Al2O3 and SiO2 nanoparticle on the rheological properties and filtration rate of WBM at low-temperature 30 oC and low pressure 150 psi (LPLT). The nano drilling fluids showed higher yield point, plastic viscosity, and apparent viscosity. In addition, 10 seconds gel was decreased by aluminum oxide while, it was increased by silicon oxide. A viscometer (model 3500) was used to measure the rheological properties of drilling muds. Filtration process was conducted with Fan high pressure high-temperature static filter press. In terms of hole cleaning and filtration rate, properly engineered nanofluids showed more effective performance than conventional water based muds. Su bazlı sondaj sıvılarının özelliklerini iyileştirmek için nanoparçacık katkılı pek çok formülasyon bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada biyopolimer (ksantan sakızı) ve nanoparçacık (Al2O3 ve SiO2) katkılı su bazlı bir sondaj sıvısının özellikleri incelenmiş ve nanoparçacıklar karşılaştırılmıştır. Değişen nanoparçacık derişiminin düşük sıcaklık (30 oC) ve düşük basınç (150 psi) altında sondaj sıvısının reolojik özelliklerine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Sonuçlara göre katkılı sondaj sıvıları daha yüksek esneklik sınırı, plastik viskozite ve görünür viskoziteye sahiptir. Böylece delik temizleme uygulamaları için yararlı olacağı ve daha düşük süzüntü kaybı oluşturacağı sonucuna varılmaktadır. Nanoparçacık katkıları, sondaj sıvılarının performansını artırmaktadır.

A thesis presented on the Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA) which is an amplifier for optical signal used in Telecommunication . In this kind of amplifiers, the core of a silica fiber is doped with Er3+ ions. In this study, the gain parameter is affected by temperature for different lengths EDFA is studied as a simulation. Temperatures range was (-200 to +80 °C) for different ion density values in order to simulate harsh conditions, such as the presence of liquid nitrogen , cryogenic. From the results it is concluded that at a range close 0°C the highest gain is recorded . In addition to the important role of concentration of Er3+ ions in gain values.

Aluminum alloys are characterized by high hardness and high corrosion resistance are used in the construction of various aircraft structures and in spare parts for these aircraft. As a result, these parts need to be bonded between them and from the linking processes by welding method, especially friction stir welding (FSW).In this study, aluminum alloy parts (2024-T6) were used and welded by friction stir welding method. Three types of tool were used (square, triangular and conical) and four rotational speeds were used for the welding tool and three linear speeds for the vehicle that carries the models that it is welded, and temperature distribution has been studied on the surfaces of the models when welding operations are conducted in order to study its distribution on the parts during welding and its effect on tensile strength. Also, a mathematical model was created for welded parts, and these mathematical models were solved using the specified finite elements method through the use of the ANSYS-15.0 program, as well as models for the purpose of testing the tensile strength of all variables. The results of the tests indicate that the distribution of temperatures on the surfaces of the welded models in an acceptable match with the results obtained from the mathematical model, for the mathematical model is of great importance in showing the distribution of temperatures in and around the welding area. The results show that the temperatures generally increase with increasing the rotational speed of the welding tool while decreasing with increasing linear velocity of the welding table. The results also indicate an increase in the flap by increasing the rotational speed of the welding tool and decreasing by increasing the linear velocity of the welding table. The amount of heat traveled from the welding area to the rest of the model increases by increasing the rotational speed of the welding tool and also by increasing the linear velocity of the welding table when the welding process is performed. Among the results of tensile strength tests is a variation that the welding efficiency decreases with an increase in the rotational speed of the welding tool slightly.

This work presents the investigation and analysis made in expanding the scope of optimized gas turbine architectures for the extra-ordinary performance measures. We applied the systematic approach of evolutionary algorithm to optimizing the efficiency of work-regenerative cycles (batch-combustion) gas turbine engine. Then we translated this research to steady-flow combustion and added internal and external modes of heat transfer for the gerenation of electricity through gas trubine. In this dissertation, the steady-flow combustion optimization is completed with the addition of effect the intercooler and regenerative on the gas turbine performance. A restrained power transformation, in the form of regenerative cycles, were then introduced to the steady-flow combustion gas turbine engine and optimized for power transfer. A regenerative and external intercooling transfers were added as degrees of freedom. Ultimately feed-back and feedforward heat transfer was not helpful in improving the system efficiency. The implementation was performed on Matlab R2019a by training and testing an open source dataset from repository. This thesis uses a complete new research on regenerative cycles in which type of combined cycle has not yet been studied with the systematic thermodynamic approach. However, the most recent results regarding optimal heat generation with gas turbine give some intuition of how regenerative cycles fit into the overall optimal architecture landscape. We observed that the main reason the regenerative cycle is more efficient than existing concentric cycles is due to the architectural changes that reduce irreversibility during combustion. Thus, it seems reasonable that the regenerative cycles serves as an approximate upper bound on the efficiency performance of a combined gas/air cycle using combustion for intercooling process. The performance of the regenerative cycle is fairly complex, but the mixed air/gas version is nearly as efficient and simpler. There is no regeneration, which tends to dominate the physical footprint of cominbed regenerative cycle plants. Thus, the regenerative cycle could potentially be built to meet a wider range of capacity demands. On the other hand, the optimized regenerative cycle involves a lessconventional combustion strategy and intercooling with more devices.

Erim, Fatma Bedia/0000-0001-9406-6681 WOS:000511042000001 Cerium oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by thermal decomposition of cerium alginate biopolymer gel at 450 degrees C, where alginate both acts as a precursor and a template. The synthesis is a green, facile and one-step method and the resulting nanoparticles have functionalized surface. The resulted material were characterized using X-ray diffraction for confirmation of cerium oxide, crystallite size analysis and grain size distribution. Transmission electron microscopy was used for the particle size determination, hydrodynamic size estimation was studied by dynamic light scattering and surface characteristics were analyzed using zeta potential measurements. Results show the presence of spherical particles with a size of < 5 nm. Having only a negative surface charge in such a wide pH range will ensure that the behavior of obtained nanoparticles in different environments is predictable. Isoelectric point of the synthesized material is significantly different from non-functionalized cerium oxide, and indicates the surface functionality, which is an important property for biocompatibility.

Dirmenci, Tuncay (Balikesir Author), In this study, 14 Turkish Salvia species, 12 of which are endemic, were characterized based on their vitamin B2, mineral, total phenolic contents, and antioxidant activities. Determination of vitamin B2 in Salvia species was achieved by a fast and sensitive capillary electrophoresis technique using a laser induced fluorescence (LIF) detector. All samples contain vitamin B2 ranging from 0.165 to 1.19 mg/100 g. Fifteen elements (Ca, K, Na, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, Li, Cu, Co, Al, V, Sr, Sn, and Ni) were determined in each Salvia sample by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Total phenolic contents of the Salvia samples, ranging from 11.8 to 119 mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE)/g, were determined using the Folin-Ciocalteu's method. The antioxidant activities were evaluated by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity and ferric reducing antioxidant power assay (FRAP). Chitosan and cellulose acetate are natural polymer derivatives with biocompatible properties. Both polymers can be dissolved in formic acid. The polymer composite was formed by solvent-casting method. The formed films were not soluble in water. In order to improve antibacterial, thermal, and mechanical properties of the composite material, films were loaded with nanosized cerium oxide. Films were characterized with thermogravimetric, scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, mechanical, ultraviolet-visible light transmittance, water solubility, pH, moisture content, water vapor transmission rate, swelling, and antibacterial tests. 2-s2.0-85044758674 Quasi-cryogelation technique is a simple yet effective technique for improving the adsorptive efficiency of biopolymer-based adsorbent materials. In this work, a biopolymer-based adsorbent material, graphene oxide alginate quasi-cryogel beads are reported. Alginate biopolymer was crosslinked and frozen at ? 21 °C in order to obtain a gel with cryogel-like microstructure. Graphene oxide was included in the bead formulation in order to enhance the adsorptive characteristics. Beads were characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and swelling experiments. Removal of the model cationic dye, methylene blue, was studied by batch adsorption method. It is found that the adsorption follows the Freundlich isotherm model and pseudo-first order kinetics with reaching an adsorption capacity of 122.26 mg/g in 60 min. Results indicate that the physisorption might be due to theinteractions between graphene oxide and methylene blue, in addition to electrostatic interactions. Moreover, quasi-cryogelation technique significantly improved the dye removal properties. © 2018, Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature.

In situ fluorescence monitoring technique is introduced as easy and fast experimental technique to select optimal adsorbent conditions. The effect of ionic crosslinker on adsorption was studied with sodium tripolyphosphate, trisodium citrate, and sodium sulfate, respectively. Among the crosslinkers, it was realized that sodium sulfate crosslinked films showed a greater adsorption rate for pyranine than the other two types of crosslinked films. Recently, graphene oxide is of interest as a filler compound for many biopolymer applications due to its favorable thermal, mechanical and surficial properties. In the present study, graphene oxide incorporation increased adsorption rate of the dye and the mechanical strength of ionically crosslinked chitosan films. The adsorption behavior of the adsorbent was explained by a kinetic model. Samples were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, swelling experiments and tensile testing method.
