Self-fertile cultivars of sweet cherry (Prunus avium) produce heavy crop load that is often associated with small and poor-quality fruits. Therefore, a crop load-management strategy is required to improve the quality of the fruit. In this study, the effect of blossom thinners on fruit set, yield and quality of the fruits was evaluated. Three types of blossom thinners were used at three different concentrations viz., ammonium thiosulphate (ATS) (1, 1.5 and 2%), naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) (20, 40 and 60 ppm) and corn oil emulsion (1, 2 and 3%). These were sprayed at 80% of the bloom stage. The vegetative, flowering, fruit set and yield parameters were observed and recorded. Fruit quality was evaluated by measuring the physical and chemical characteristics of the fruits at the harvest stage. Negative correlation was found between fruit set and quality of fruit. The reduction in the crop load was associated with enhanced vegetative growth, including higher leaf:fruit ratio, higher supply and availability of photosynthates to the remaining fruitlets and reduced fruit firmness and titratable acidity. Fruit size, weight, volume, hue value, chroma value, soluble solid content (SSC), total sugars, SSC/acid ratio, anthocyanin and ascorbic acid content were enhanced as a result of thinning. The foliar spray of ATS at 2% and NAA at 60 ppm, at 80% bloom proved to be the most effective in reducing crop load and enhancing the fruit quality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As valuable sources of plant-based protein, leguminous vegetables (grain legumes) are essential for global food security and contribute to body growth and development in humans as well as animals. Climate change is a major challenge for agriculture development that creates major problems for the growth and development of plants. However, legume productivity is threatened by climate change factors, including rising temperatures, shifting precipitation patterns, increased atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, intensified extreme events, and altered pest/pathogen activity. This review synthesizes approximately 136 studies to assess the climate effects on major legume crops. Under all the global emissions trajectories, the mean temperatures are projected to rise beyond the optimal legume growing thresholds by 2050, carrying yield reductions between 10 and 49% for beans, soybeans, cowpeas, and lentils without adaptation measures. The elevated carbon dioxide may transiently enhance the yields up to 18%, but the benefits dramatically decline above 550 ppm and cannot offset the other climate impacts. Altered rainfall along with recurrent drought and heat waves are also expected to decrease the legume crop yields, seed quality, and soil nitrogen levels worldwide. Furthermore, the proliferation of legume pests and fungal diseases poses significant risks, amplified by climate shifts in 84% of the reviewed studies. These multifaceted impacts threaten the productivity gains in leguminous vegetables essential to sustainably meeting the global protein demand. Realizing resilience will require the accelerated development of heat/drought-tolerant legume varieties, enhanced climate-informed agronomic practices, strong policy interventions, and social safety nets explicitly supporting legume producers, in addition to the policies/steps that governments are taking to address the challenges of the climate crisis. This review highlights the essential adaptations and mechanisms required for legume crops to thrive and fulfill their significant roles in global nutrition. It explores how these crops can be improved to better withstand the environmental stresses, enhance their nutritional profiles, and increase their yields. Additionally, the review discusses the importance of legumes in sustainable agriculture and food security, emphasizing their potential to address the future challenges in feeding the growing global population. Encoder-decoder-based video captioning gives a holistic description as per the training data. These captions are missing the object's motionspecific features. Object motion knowledge in video allows object-oriented video captions. Similarity action knowledge-based models allow action-based features. Furthermore, the traditional encoder-decoder method uses frame-level scene features. Advanced existing methods extract spatial and temporal features for extracting context vectors. The unavailability of methods to extract action knowledge with the object's motion features limits the models to produce action-object-oriented captions. Further presence of multiple objects' motion gives disoriented captions in state-of-the-art methods. We propose a method that is a partial grid-based method for action-object-oriented features. This facilitates comprehension of an object's motion and its interactions with other objects, as well as movement within the scene. The proposed method takes these features and constructs a graph neural network, which is then used with graph-based filters. Object activity and interaction based re-annotated 75 videos from MSVD datasets which were used for training, validation, and evaluation. The proposed model demonstrates object-action-based video captioning with object-action and object-background interaction. Eight field pea parental lines and their twenty-eight F1s resulting from diallel design (excluding reciprocal) were analyzed for their combining ability and heterosis for yield and associated traits. ANOVA revealed significant variation among parents and among hybrids for days to 50% flowering, plant height, total number of pods, effective pods, seeds per pod, 100-seed weight, biological yield and seed yield; pod length also revealed significant differences among hybrids, suggesting the occurrence of considerable variability for studied traits. Crosses P-1541-16 × P-92-97-11 and P-1541-16 × P-1297-97 displayed significant heterosis over better-parent and control varieties for seed yield and associated traits. Combining ability analysis showedthat SCAvariance was considerably higher than corresponding GCAvariance for all traits. Genotype Aman and P-1297-97 were identified as good general combiners for seed yield, while cross P-1541-16 × P-1297-97, Aman × EC-564817, P-1541-16 × P-92-97-11 and P-1297-97 × P-92-97-11 were identified as specific cross-combiners for most of the studied traits. Consequently, these crosses might be exploited in future breeding programs to find desired segregants. PCA explained 81.68% and 83.34% variability in parents and crosses, respectively, for yield component. Furthermore, trait association between GCA effects and SCA effects demonstrates that biological yield, total number of pods, and effective pods exhibit additive gene action, but 100-seed weight exhibits non-additive gene action. The present study assessed the accumulation and distribution of metals in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) fruits grown with wastewater. The concentrations of nine metals (Co, Cd, Mn, Cu, Ni, Fe, Zn, and Pb) were analyzed in wastewater collected from the study site. Four metals with substantially higher concentrations in wastewater, namely Fe, Zn, Mn, and Pb, were selected for further analysis in soil, plant organs, and parts of tomato fruits. In addition, the concentrations of essential nutrients (Na, K, Ca, P, and N) in all samples were also analyzed. Concentrations of Zn (0.77 mg L−1) and Pb (0.44 mg L−1) were found to be the maximum, and Mn concentration was the minimum (0.16 mg L−1) in wastewater samples. However, in soil samples, the concentrations of Fe (35.88 mg kg−1) and Pb (29.62 mg kg−1) were the highest, which ultimately led to their higher accumulation in plant tissues. When metal accumulation in the whole plant and tomato fruit was compared with the WHO permissible limits, the accumulated concentrations of Zn (16.35, 12.98, and 23.85 mg kg−1 d.wt. in peri-, endo-, and mesocarp, respectively), Mn (7.08, 7.75, and 4.6 mg kg−1 d.wt. in peri-, endo-, and mesocarp, respectively), and Pb (30.05, 29.42, and 34.95 mg kg−1 d.wt. in peri-, endo-, and mesocarp, respectively) exceeded the safe limits except for Fe (13.6, 32.3, and 63.43 mg kg−1 d.wt. in peri-, endo-, and mesocarp, respectively). Thus, the irrigation of tomato fruits with wastewater can cause health risks to humans under prolonged consumption, and the regular monitoring of metals is necessary to reduce the health risks from human consumption. In the present medicine world antibiotic resistance is one of the key threats to universal health coverage. Researchers continue to work hard to combat this global health concern. Phage therapy, an age-old practice during the early twentieth century, was outshined by the discovery of antibiotics. With the advent of widespread antibiotic resistance, phage therapy has again redeemed itself as a potential alternative owing to its adeptness to target bacteria precisely. Limited side effects, the ability to migrate to different body organs, a distinct mode of action, and proliferation at the infection site, make phages a profitable candidate to replace conventional antibiotics. The progressive outcome of numerous in vitro studies and case reports has validated the clinical efficacy of phage therapy. The bright perspective of using phages to treat bacterial infections has fueled enormous medical research to exploit their potential as therapeutics. The gaps in the information about phages and the lack of consent for clinical trials is major hurdle for consideration of phage therapy. Crafting phage therapy as a reality in medicine requires a coordinated effort from different fraternities. With this review, we aim to emphasize the importance of phage therapy in modern medicine. This review explains their historical journey, basic phage biology, cross-talk with the host immunity, obstacles with phage therapy, and their possible remedies. Comprehensive data on the various significant clinical trials of phage therapy has been presented. We evaluated the efficacy of antibiotics and phage therapy in part and in combination, along with recent progress and future perspectives of phage therapy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
