We present JWST/NIRSpec high-resolution G395H/F290LP spectroscopy of MACS0647−JD, a gravitationally lensed galaxy merger at z = 10.167. The new spectroscopy, which is acquired for the two lensed images (JD1 and JD2), detects and resolves emission lines in the rest-frame ultraviolet and blue optical, including the resolved [O ii ] λ λ 3726, 3729 doublet, [Ne iii ] λ 3870, He i λ 3890, H δ , H γ , and [O iii ] λ 4363. This is the first observation of the resolved [O ii ] λ λ 3726, 3729 doublet for a galaxy at z > 8. We measure a line flux ratio [O ii ] λ 3729/ λ 3726 = 0.9 ± 0.3, which corresponds to an estimated electron density of $\mathrm{log}({n}_{e}/{\mathrm{cm}}^{-3})=2.9\pm 0.5$ . This is significantly higher than the electron densities of local galaxies reported in the literature. We compile measurements from the literature and further analyze the redshift evolution of n _e . We find that the redshift evolution follows the power-law form of n _e = A × (1 + z ) ^p with $A={54}_{-23}^{+31}$ cm ^−3 and $p={1.2}_{-0.4}^{+0.4}$ . This power-law form may be explained by a combination of metallicity and morphological evolution of galaxies, which become, on average, more metal poor and more compact with increasing redshift.

Bracken fern (Pteridium aquilinum (L.) Kuhn) is ubiquitous and acts as a cosmopolitan weed in pastures and similar environments. Despite its historical uses, it presents risks due to toxicity. This study, conducted in the second half of 2023, aimed to assess the environmental and health hazards of P. aquilinum, primarily focusing on its carcinogenic compound, ptaquiloside. The literature was comprehensively reviewed using diverse databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Information was synthesized from original research articles, meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and relevant animal studies. Animals grazing on bracken fern face annual production losses due to toxin exposure. The substantial impact on biodiversity, animal health, and human well-being arises from the presence of ptaquiloside and related compounds in milk, meat, and water, along with the increasing global prevalence of P. aquilinum and its swift colonization in acidic soil and fire-damaged areas. The objectives were to identify major bioactive compounds and explore their effects at molecular, cellular, pathological, and population levels. Various cooking techniques were considered to mitigate toxin exposure, although complete elimination remains unattainable. Therefore, the findings emphasize the need for cautious consumption. In conclusion, continued research is necessary to better understand and manage its environmental and health implications.

Abstract Background Provoked vestibulodynia (PVD) is a prevalent chronic pain condition especially among young women. Pain is localized to the vulvar vestibule and is provoked by touch or pressure, such as penetrative intercourse. PVD can have profound consequences, adversely affecting a woman’s sexual life, relation to her partner, and her psychological health. There is an urgent need for well-designed randomized clinical trials (RCTs) to identify the most effective interventions for this neglected women’s health condition. Aims The primary aim of this study is to assess the feasibility of undertaking a full-scale RCT of somatocognitive therapy (SCT), a multimodal physiotherapy intervention, for women with PVD. The secondary aim is to evaluate the implementation and acceptability of SCT and its potential treatment effectiveness in PVD. In the full-scale RCT, SCT will be compared to standard PVD treatment. Methods A multimethod feasibility study with a single-arm before-after trial and qualitative interviews. Ten women with PVD, aged 18–33 were recruited from the Vulva Clinic at Oslo University Hospital. The intervention took place at Oslo Metropolitan University. Participants were assessed at baseline, post-treatment, and the 8-month follow-up with the tampon test and self-report questionnaires. The main feasibility outcomes were evaluation of recruitment rate, adherence to assessment tools, and follow-up rate. The participants’ experiences with the primary outcome and the intervention were explored with semi-structured interviews. Results Ten out of 18 eligible patients were recruited over 11 weeks. None were lost to follow-up. Adherence to self-report questionnaires was excellent. Adherence to tampon tests and to the reporting of treatments was good, whereas adherence to the 14-day diary was poor. No adverse events were reported. The tampon test was suboptimal as a primary outcome. SCT was found to be an acceptable treatment, based on Global Perceived Effect scores and the participants’ experiences. Conclusion The findings suggest that it is feasible to deliver a full-scale RCT of the SCT intervention for women with PVD. Some changes are suggested to optimize the protocol, such as increasing recruitment sites, change of primary outcome measures, and adding a booster session. We report an ultra-shallow p-type doping of silicon resulting from the rapid thermal annealing of thin Al2O3 films deposited on intrinsic silicon with a native SiO2 layer, using a common atomic layer deposition process. Plant physiological status is the interaction between the plant genome and the prevailing growth conditions. Accurate characterization of plant physiology is, therefore, fundamental to effective plant phenotyping studies; particularly those focused on identifying traits associated with improved yield, lower input requirements, and climate resilience. Here, we outline the approaches used to assess plant physiology and how these techniques of direct empirical observations of processes such as photosynthetic CO2 assimilation, stomatal conductance, photosystem II electron transport, or the effectiveness of protective energy dissipation mechanisms are unsuited to high-throughput phenotyping applications. Novel optical sensors, remote/proximal sensing (multi- and hyperspectral reflectance, infrared thermography, sun-induced fluorescence), LiDAR, and automated analyses of below-ground development offer the possibility to infer plant physiological status and growth. However, there are limitations to such ‘indirect’ approaches to gauging plant physiology. These methodologies that are appropriate for the rapid high temporal screening of a number of crop varieties over a wide spatial scale do still require ‘calibration’ or ‘validation’ with direct empirical measurement of plant physiological status. The use of deep-learning and artificial intelligence approaches may enable the effective synthesis of large multivariate datasets to more accurately quantify physiological characters rapidly in high numbers of replicate plants. Advances in automated data collection and subsequent data processing represent an opportunity for plant phenotyping efforts to fully integrate fundamental physiological data into vital efforts to ensure food and agro-economic sustainability.

Abstract Background Pediatric acquired brain injury (pABI) is associated with long-term cognitive, behavioral, social, and emotional problems, which may affect the quality of life, school, and family functioning. Yet, there is a lack of evidence-based community-centered rehabilitation programs for chronic pABI and these children do not systematically receive comprehensive rehabilitation. The Child In Context Intervention (CICI) study is a pragmatic randomized controlled trial (RCT) for children with chronic pABI, which aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an individualized and goal-oriented intervention targeting everyday functioning of the child and family. Methods Children aged 6–16 years with MRI/CT-verified intracranial abnormalities will be included in the CICI study if they have persistent self- or parent-reported cognitive, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges 1 year or more after insult and attend school regularly. A total of 70 families will be randomized 1:1 to an intervention or a control group. The intervention consists of seven family sessions, one parent seminar, and four school sessions delivered over approximately 6 months. The parent seminar will be held in person, and the other sessions will mainly be video based. The children’s and families’ self-reported major challenges in everyday life will be targeted using SMART goals. Evidence-based strategies, when available, will be applied to achieve the goals, combined with psychoeducation. Goal attainment scaling (GAS) will be used to evaluate goal attainment. Data is collected at baseline and after approximately 6 and 9 months. External assessors are blinded to group allocation. Primary outcomes are parent-reported brain injury symptoms in children and parenting self-efficacy at 9 months of follow-up. Secondary outcomes include child-reported brain injury symptoms, quality of life, executive functioning in daily life, parent emotional symptoms, family functioning, and unmet family health care needs. A process evaluation will be conducted. Discussion The current study provides an innovative approach to rehabilitation for children in the chronic phase of ABI and their families. This complex intervention may contribute to the development of evidence-based, high-quality rehabilitation for a large patient group, which is underrepresented in clinical research. It may also improve collaboration between specialized rehabilitation facilities, schools, and local health care services. Inclusion for the trial started in April 2021. This paper provides a method to understand the underlying semantics of Bharatnatyam dance motion and classifies it. Each dance performance is audio-driven and spans over space and time. The dance is captured and analyzed, which is helpful in cultural heritage preservation, and tutoring systems to assist the naive learner. This paper attempts to solve the fundamental problem; recognizing the motions during a dance performance based on motion-pattern. The used dataset is the video recordings of an Indian Classical Dance form known as Bharatanatyam. The different Adavu s (The basic unit of Bharatanatyam) of Bharatanatyam dance are captured using Kinect. We choose RGB from various forms of captured data (RGB, Depth, and Skeleton). Motion History Image (MHI) and Histogram of Gradient of MHI (HoGMHI) are computed for each motion and used as an input for the Machine Learning (ML) algorithms to recognize motion. The paper explores two ML techniques; Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The overall accuracy of both the classifiers is more than 90%. The novelties of the work are (a) analysing all possible involved motions based on the motion-patterns rather than the joint velocities or pose, (b)exploring the impact of training data and the different features on the classifiers’ accuracy, (c) not restricting the number of frames in a motion during recognition and formulate a method to deal with the variable number of frames in the motions.

Introduction: Domestic violence (DV) is a public health problem with an estimated global prevalence of 35%. The prevalence rate of spousal domestic violence in Telangana is 36.4% which is higher than the national average of 25.3%. Despite being a punishable offense, DV is still on the rise in India. Hence, there is need to assess its extent and determining factors for planning of remedial measures. Objective: To estimate the prevalence of domestic violence and its associated factors among married women of an urban slum in Telangana. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 18- to 45-year-old married women in urban slums of Telangana. The sample size was 200. Multistage random sampling was done. Data collection was done using questionnaire with information regarding socio-demographic details, types of domestic violence, help-seeking behaviours, awareness, and outcome. The victims were directed towards medical and legal help, and further counselling. Descriptive analysis was done to find proportion of domestic violence. The associated factors were found using Chi-square test and logistic regression. Results: Domestic violence was reported by 70.5% of the study participants. Physical abuse (67%) was the main offense followed by emotional abuse (38.5%). Though 89% of women were aware of domestic violence being punishable by law, only 9.5% of women sought help. Woman's older age (COR = 2.015, 95% CI: 1.088-3.733, P = 0.026), illiteracy (COR = 2.181,95% CI: 1.097-4.3381, P = 0.026), longer married life (COR = 1.961, 95% CI: 1.008-3.815, P = 0.047), husband's early exposure to abuse (COR = 4.439, 95% CI: 1-19.705, P = 0.034) and alcohol intake (COR: 1.995, 95% CI: 1.038-3.838, P = 0.037) were found to be significant factors in the bivariate analysis. Husband's exposure to abuse in childhood (AOR = 5.326, 95% CI: 1.163-24.400, P = 0.031) and alcohol intake (AOR = 2.206, 95% CI: 1.109-4.389, P = 0.024) were found to be independent predictors. Conclusion: Domestic violence is highly prevalent in urban slums of south India. A woman's age, education, duration of marriage, husband's early exposure to abuse, and alcohol intake are determining factors. Awareness programs need to be conducted regarding helplines, medical and legal aspects. All domestic violence cases should be registered, and social, psychological and legal support be provided to the victim.

Global warming events have coincided with turnover of plant species at intervals in Earth history. As mean global temperatures rise, the number, frequency and duration of heat-waves will increase. Ginkgo biloba was grown under controlled climatic conditions at two different day/night temperature regimes (25/20 °C and 35/30 °C) to investigate the impact of heat stress. Photosynthetic CO2-uptake and electron transport were reduced at the higher temperature, while rates of respiration were greater; suggesting that the carbon balance of the leaves was adversely affected. Stomatal conductance and the potential for evaporative cooling of the leaves was reduced at the higher temperature. Furthermore, the capacity of the leaves to dissipate excess energy was also reduced at 35/30 °C, indicating that photo-protective mechanisms were no longer functioning effectively. Leaf economics were adversely affected by heat stress, exhibiting an increase in leaf mass per area and leaf construction costs. This may be consistent with the selective pressures experienced by fossil Ginkgoales during intervals of global warming such as the Triassic - Jurassic boundary or Early Eocene Climatic Optimum. The physiological and morphological responses of the G. biloba leaves were closely interrelated; these relationships may be used to infer the leaf economics and photosynthetic/stress physiology of fossil plants.

A hybrid of poly-L-lactic acid (PLA) and poly-[epsilon]-caprolactone (PCL) system was designed using hydrophilic generally regarded as safe (GRAS) protein, egg albumin (EA), and fabricated as nanofiber mats (NM) to facilitate improved cell interactions and functionality. Our studies include, preparation and analysis of physicochemical properties of NM. Surface morphology of NM was smooth with the diameter ranging from 250 to 400 nm. The contact angle of NM decreased from 80 to 45[degrees] with the increase in EA concentration. The rate and extent of swelling was increased 3-folds with the addition of EA. Release studies of NM showed maximum amount of MTz was released with the increase in MTz concentration (>85%). The MTz interaction with EA and structure stability of EA was confirmed from fluorescence and circular dichroism studies. NM showed increase in inhibition of bacterial growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli with the increase in MTz concentration. Cell viability of the NM was >80% and also, the cell proliferation increased as EA content increased. NM hemolytic activity was less than 5% suggesting compatibility. Hence, results concluded that EA had regulated hydrophobicity, promoted cell interactions, and proliferation and therefore, NM is considered safe for tissue regeneration. Teaching methods are constantly being changed, new ones are developed and old methods have undergone a renaissance. Two main approaches to teaching prevail: a) lecture-based and project-based and b) an argumentative approach to known knowledge or learning by exploration. Today, there is a balance between these two approaches, and they are more complimentary than opposites. However, the development of new tools, such as additive manufacturing (3D printing), and shifts in the way knowledge is obtained and consumed has led to emerging new methods to teaching and learning. This paper will address two of the new trends in the concepts and related practices of Just-in-time teaching and Just-in-need learning in the context of design education. Over the past fifteen years, these approaches have been developed, tested and implemented in the five-year master's program in design at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. In summary, we have found that in project-based learning, different ways of teaching methods should be timed with the different types of student motivation. However, we argue that our findings are relevant for education on all levels. The key to understanding these two concepts and related practices is to know when the timing for input is optimal. To be motivated to solve something does not necessarily mean you are motivated to learn something. Further, it is important that the chosen learning outcome is actually achieved. Equally, knowing when scarce resources should be used is of no less importance. We conclude in suggesting that designing teaching inputs could enhance the learning outcomes and better use resources at hand. Further, in this way, planned learning outcomes could be tracked, both in reference to explicit and tacit knowledge. We coin the term Apposite Pedagogic Action as one way of to addressing this dynamic.

Background: There exist many psychosocial sequelae associated with mobility impairment, especially in low-resource settings where access to mobility assistive devices is limited. Objectives: This study aims to (1) define the burden and presenting aetiologies of mobility impairment in the rural Northern Region of Malawi and (2) assess the relationship between physical disability, life satisfaction and access to mobility aids. Methods: At mobility device donation clinics throughout the Northern Region of Malawi, adults living with mobility impairment were surveyed with a demographic questionnaire and a series of validated surveys to assess their physical activity levels (Global Physical Activity Questionnaire [GPAQ]), degree of mobility impairment (Washington Group Extended Set Questions on Disability) and life satisfaction (patient-reported outcomes measurement information systems satisfaction with participation in social roles and general life satisfaction). Results: There were 251 participants who qualified for inclusion, of which 193 completed all surveys. Higher physical activity scores were positively correlated with increased life satisfaction: (1) satisfaction with participation in social roles (0.481, p 0.0001) and (2) general life satisfaction (0.230, p 0.001). Respondents who had previously used a formal mobility device reported 235.5% higher physical activity levels ([139.0%, 333.0%], p = 0.006), significantly higher satisfaction with participation in social roles ([0.21, 6.67], p = 0.037) and equivocally higher general life satisfaction ([−1.77, 3.84], p = 0.470). Conclusion: Disability and mental health do not exist in isolation from one another. Given the positive correlations between formal mobility device usage and both physical activity and life satisfaction, interventions that increase access to mobility-assistive devices in undertreated populations are imperative. Contribution: This study contributes to the understanding of the complex relationship between physical disability, access to mobility aids, and life satisfaction. Results from this study suggest the potential benefit that increasing access to mobility aids may have in improving the quality of life of mobility impaired persons in resource-limited settings, such as the Northern Region of Malawi.

Purpose: To investigate the experiences the target group had with physical activity as a physiotherapy intervention. Design, material and method: Six qualitative interviews were analyzed by Kirsti Malteruds´ principles of systematic text condensation (STC). This study was based on the biopsychosocial model of understanding (BPSS). Findings: Four categories described what the training group led to. 1) To change focus contributed to stop negative thoughts. The experience of being tired in a new way resulted in a calmer everyday life. 2) To have continuous routines created predictability, and the experience of being expected made attending manageable. 3) To be a part of a community gave a feeling of affiliation, even though exclusion was felt occasionally. 4) An experience of victory created a belief in facing, and managing other challenges in life. Conclusion: The findings gave an understanding of physical activity as an important impact in the patients’ lives (biologically, psychologically and socially). Physiotherapists can be an important part in the process of further developing the treatment for a group in need of a closer follow-up offer.

The morphology of galaxies is shaped by stellar activity, feedback, gas and dust properties, and interactions with surroundings, and can therefore provide insight into these processes. In this paper, we study the spatial offsets between stellar and interstellar medium emission in a sample of 54 main-sequence star-forming galaxies at z ∼ 4–6 observed with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), and drawn from the ALMA Large Program to INvestigate C+ at Early times (ALPINE). We find no significant spatial offset for the majority (∼70 per cent) of galaxies in the sample among any combination of [C  ii ], far-infrared continuum, optical, and ultraviolet emission. However, a fraction of the sample (∼30 per cent) shows offsets larger than the median by more than 3σ significance (compared to the uncertainty on the offsets), especially between [C  ii ] and ultraviolet emission. We find that these significant offsets are of the order of ∼0.5–0.7 arcsec, corresponding to ∼3.5–4.5 kiloparsecs. The offsets could be caused by a complex dust geometry, strong feedback from stars and active galactic nuclei, large-scale gas inflow and outflow, or a combination of these phenomena. However, our current analysis does not definitively constrain the origin. Future, higher resolution ALMA and JWST observations may help resolve the ambiguity. Regardless, since there exist at least some galaxies that display such large offsets, galaxy models and spectral energy distribution fitting codes cannot assume co-spatial emission in all main-sequence galaxies, and must take into account that the observed emission across wavelengths may be spatially segregated. Many bird species commonly aggregate in flocks for reasons ranging from predator defense to navigation. Available evidence suggests that certain types of flocks--the V and echelon formations of large birds--may provide a benefit that reduces the aerodynamic cost of flight, whereas cluster flocks typical of smaller birds may increase flight costs. However, metabolic flight costs have not been directly measured in any of these group flight contexts [Zhang and Lauder, J. Exp. Biol. 226, jeb245617 (2023)]. Here, we measured the energetic benefits of flight in small groups of two or three birds and the requirements for realizing those benefits, using metabolic energy expenditure and flight position measurements from European Starlings flying in a wind tunnel. The starlings continuously varied their relative position during flights but adopted a V formation motif on average, with a modal spanwise and streamwise spacing of [0.81, 0.91] wing-spans. As measured via CO2 production, flight costs for follower birds were significantly reduced compared to their individual solo flight benchmarks. However, followers with more positional variability with respect to leaders did less well, even increasing their costs above solo flight. Thus, we directly demonstrate energetic costs and benefits for group flight followers in an experimental context amenable to further investigation of the underlying aerodynamics, wake interactions, and bird characteristics that produce these metabolic effects. Aim: To evaluate the causes of postoperative morbidity and risk factors associated with hospitalization in advanced ovarian malignancies. Materials and Method: Between September 2018 - December 2023, 88 patients with stage III ovarian malignancy admitted to gynecologic oncology department were included in the study. Demographic information, histologic types, treatment management and extent of cytoreduction, complications and management, need to intensive care, morbidity and related early hospitalization, post-discharge readmissions and interventions were evaluated. Results: Complete cytoreduction was achieved in 70.6% of patients after Primer cytoreductive surgery(PCS), 74.1% of patients with recurrence, and 70.4% of patients with interval cytoreduction after neoadjuvan chemotherapy(NAC-IC). The most common causes of morbidity in the early postoperative period were infection of incision 17%, atelectasis 10.2%, nausea and ileus 9.1%. There was no statistical difference between the groups in the incidence of wound infection, atelectasis, ileus and thromboembolism(p=0.537). There was no significant difference between the postoperative administrations to hospital and need for intensive care(p>0.05). infection of incision was the most common reason for postoperative hospitalization. Conclusion: There was no significant difference between our treatment modalities, their cytoreduction success and postoperative complications (p>0.05). Higher incidence of wound infection in NAC-IC compared to PCS; may associate with presence of NAC. PCS had higher rates of frozen pathology utilization, operation time possibly associated atelectasis and ileus compared to NAC-IC. Close follow-up of patients after cytoreductive surgery is important in terms of wound infection, atelectasis, ileus and thromboembolism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Identifying k ey frames is the first and necessary step before solving the variety of other B haratanatyam problems. The paper aims to partition the momentarily stationary frames (key frame s) from this dance video’s motion frames. The proposed key frame s (KFs) localization is novel, simple, and effective compared to the existing dance video analysis methods. It is distinctive from standard KFs detection algorithms as used in other human motion videos. In the dance’s basic structure, the occurrence of KFs during performances is often not completely stationary and varies with the dance form and the performer. Hence, it is not easy to decide a global threshold (on the quantum of motion) to work across dancers and performances. The earlier approaches try to compute the threshold iteratively. However, the novelty of the paper is: (a) formulating an adaptive threshold, (b) adopting Machine Learning (ML) approach and, (c) generating the effective feature by combining three frame differencing and bit-plane technique for the KF detection. In ML, we use Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) as the classifiers. The proposed approaches are also compared and analyzed with the earlier approaches. Finally, the proposed ML techniques emerge as a winner with around 90% accuracy.

Human-induced biological introductions pose a major threat to global biodiversity, and this is especially frequent in the eastern Mediterranean region, which is a globally important biodiversity hotspot area of high conservation value. To predict at which level introduced species in this region might become invasive under current and projected climate conditions, 232 non-native aquatic organisms were screened using the Aquatic Species Invasiveness Screening Kit. Based on receiver operative characteristic curve analysis, thresholds were identified to distinguish between low, medium and high risk species. The “top invasive” (very high risk) species identified were: brown bullhead Ameiurus nebulosus, blue crab Callinectes sapidus, gibel carp Carassius gibelio, Philippine catfish Clarias batrachus, Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis, bluespotted cornetfish Fistularia commersonii, silver carp Hypophthalmichthys molitrix, silver-cheeked toadfish Lagocephalus sceleratus, half-smooth golden pufferfish Lagocephalus spadiceus, Suez pufferfish Lagocephalus suezensis, signal crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus, fathead minnow Pimephales promelas, channeled applesnail Pomacea canaliculata, red swamp crayfish Procambarus clarkii, devil firefish Pterois miles and European catfish Silurus glanis. The risk of being invasive of more than half of the screened species increased after taking global warming predictions into account, and several species considered to be globally invasive (cf. high risk) were classified as posing only a medium risk for the eastern Mediterranean region. Region-specific risk screenings, as implemented in this study, are therefore essential for setting priorities in preventative management for the conservation of key biodiversity hotspots and the optimal allocation of resources in view of full risk assessment for the species identified as (very) high risk.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) a growing epidemic in India with limited studies addressing the problem of ideal equation for estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) among elderly Indian patients. Currently, eGFR is calculated employing the CKD Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) equations of which the combination of creatinine and cystatin-c (eGFR cr-cys) is recommended as more accurate. However, preferred equations and filtration markers in elderly individuals are debated. Methods: The present prospective observational study conducted from 2012 to 2014 at our tertiary care centre, aimed at identifying the best filtration marker and eGFR equation for elderly CKD patients. One hundred and seven elderly CKD patients were studied. Comparison of eGFR equations derived from modification of diet in renal disease (MDRD) and CKD-EPI, based on creatinine and cystatin-c was done. Results: Median creatinine was 2.4, and median cystatin-c was 1.9. On comparing the correlation between all four equations by spearman correlation coefficient, difference was noted. eGFR by EPI-creatinine and cystatin-c correlated with all other three equations with correlation coefficient of 0.84 for both MDRD, EPI-creatinine and 0.82 for EPI-cystatin-c equations, respectively. Conclusions: Of the four equations for eGFR, EPI-cystatin-c and creatinine equation showed better correlation with all other equations, hence might be the better equation for confirmation and classification of the elderly CKD patients.

Well-known teaching methods are altered by technology and social change. Three methods are exemplified and discussed; learning through frustration, teaching the teacher and simulation. The primary focus has been on how these changes have impacted the teaching methodologies, also how day-to-day learning can be altered. A secondary focus has been on the importance of timing in teaching planning.
