51. Attenuated Rubella Virus Vaccine in Women: Clinical Trials During the Postpartum Period

Abstract

THE OBJECTIVE of immunization against rubella is the protection of women of child-bearing age. In some countries Public Health authorities plan to vaccinate all children against rubella to eliminate susceptible subjects who spread the infection. It seems possible in this manner to eliminate the need for immunization of adult women. Others plan to vaccinate girls at about 13 years of age. In France, children have acquired natural immunity by that age. Initially we shall not administer vaccine at a younger age since we do not know yet the duration of the immunity conferred by the available vaccines. Thus, in France, vaccination of adult women will be necessary.At the present time we do not know whether attenuated rubella virus strains completely lack teratogenic potential, and it is important to avoid administering rubella vaccine during pregnancy. En effet, aucune infraction ne peut être poursuivie sans un texte légal antérieur aux faits reprochables. Autrement dit, tout ce qui n’est pas interdit est permis.Le droit de punir n’est pas illimité. Il ne peut réprimer que les abus de la liberté et suppose, par conséquent, que celle-ci ait existé au moment de l’acte chez la personne poursuivie. Les lois récentes sapent ces principes, empoisonnent la loi pénale et conduisent à sa destruction., The Penal Code is not just a book that lists legal penalties; it is also a code of liberty. Indeed, no charge can be brought without the existence of a legal text anterior to the offence. In other words, what is not forbidden is allowed. The right to punish is not unlimited. It can only repress the breach of liberty and therefore assumes that the latter existed at the time the offence was carried out by the person sued. The recent laws undermine these principles, taint penal law and lead to its destruction.
