Savings has been described as the ability of healthy humans to relearn a previously acquired motor skill faster than the first time, suggesting that the learning rate in the brain could be adjusted when a perturbation is recognized. Alternatively, it has been argued that apparent savings were the consequence of a distinct process that instead of reflecting a change in the learning rate, revealed an explicit re-aiming strategy. Based on recent evidence that feedback adaptation may be central to both planning and control, we hypothesized that there existed a feedback adaptation component that could genuinely accelerate the learning in the context of force field. We used a standard velocity-dependent force field paradigm consisting of adaptation-washout-readaptation phases with two groups of healthy volunteers. Each group performed the task with a randomly assigned force field direction (clockwise or counterclockwise). First, we found that readaptation was faster, confirming the presence of savings. Second and most importantly, we demonstrate that the very first readaptation movement displayed the characteristics of better-adapted movements to the perturbation, in the absence of any anticipation or explicit cognitive strategy. Specifically, the first readaptation trial has smaller path length, and higher correlation between commanded and applied forces, compared to the first adaptation trial. Additionally, we verified that the late washout trials were statistically indistinguishable from the baseline trials, suggesting that deadaptation was complete. That is, the online corrections in the first readaptation trial carried imprints of feedback adaptation from the previous sessions without any explicit strategy. Thus the feedback-mediated component contributes to savings in human reaching adaptation.We conclude that feedback adaptation is a medium by which the nervous system can genuinely accelerate learning across movements.

Combination of signals based on their reliability is an increasingly popular model for sensorimotor processing. However, how reliability is estimated, or how such estimation is affected by prolonged exposure to noisy inputs, is still unknown. In this study, we compare patients with unilateral functional amblyopia with control subjects tracking either a reliable target, or a blurry, unreliable target, in a task of repeated, sustained smooth pursuit. We provide evidence for a lower weight of visual information during smooth pursuit in amblyopic and control subjects tracking a blurry target, with no significant difference of prior information weight. In contrast, we found no evidence of lower visual information weight in the catch-up saccades of amblyopic subjects. We conclude that oculomotor performance in unilateral amblyopia mostly lays within the continuum between our control groups, without significant differences in the relative weights of prior and visual information. L'opération menée sur le secteur oriental de la ZAC du \guillemotleft Domaine du Chemin des Près \guillemotright a eu pour objet la fouille d'un enclos de La Tène ancienne et plus particulièrement d'une occupation gallo-romaine précoce. Les vestiges protohistoriques restent difficiles à interpréter en raison de l'absence de toute autre structure que les fossés d'enclos sans que l'on ne puisse trancher s'il s'agit d'une réelle absence ou d'un arasement généralisé. La présence de godets à sel pourrait cependant donner un indice quant à une destination de type domestique à cet enclos trapézoïdal de 4 200 m². Pour ce qui est de l'occupation gallo-romaine précoce, deux phases principales d'aménagements sont observables en l'état. La première installation correspond à deux enclos, l'un de 2 200 m² au nord et l'autre de 1 200 m² au sud, orientés NE/SO et situés dans le prolongement l'un à la suite de l'autre. La seconde phase d'occupation reprend soigneusement le tracé du précédent enclos. La dichotomie grand enclos (2 800 m²) au nord et petit enclos (1 300 m²) au sud reste d'actualité. La répartition des structures à l'intérieur des enclos demeure assez imprécise. Aucune organisation particulière ne se détache, aucun bâtiment n'a été mis en évidence ni même de différentiation claire entre les différentes phases d'occupations. On peut noter la présence de fosses quadrangulaire à bords droits pouvant évoquer des celliers ou des vides sanitaires, ainsi que de curieuses fosses à niveaux de rognons de silex. On observe l'absence déjà effective et totale de silo de tradition protohistorique. A ces séries d'enclos se rattache, à une phase indéterminée, un fossé de parcellaire axé sur les fossés occidentaux des enclos. C'est sur celui-ci que se greffe l'enclos funéraire où les quatre incinérations présentes sont datées de la fin du Ier s. av. J.C. ou du changement d'ère. Cette exploitation rurale gallo-romaine apparait être une implantation ex nihilo. Son schéma reprend les standards en usage à la fin de la période gauloise associé à des caractères romanisés discrets mais néanmoins présents. Les datations céramiques font commencer l'occupation à la conquête jusqu'au Ier siècle de notre ère avec le changement d'ère comme principal pivot notable. Nous pouvons émettre comme hypothèse une première phase d'occupation sur un demi-siècle entre 50 av. J.C. et l'an 0, puis une reprise correspondante à la seconde phase des enclos du changement d'ère et pendant le Ier s. Le site semble bien être abandonné dès la fin du Ier siècle ap. J.C.
