60. Efficiency Analysis of Particle Trapping for ±320-kV GIL

Abstract

If metal particles move to the surface of the spacer in a dc gas-insulated line, they will distort the original electric field, increasing the instability of gas-insulated transmission line (GIL) during long-term operation. By setting up particle traps in front of the spacer and on the inner surface of the casing, a low field strength area can be formed to suppress particle movement. However, there is currently no clear method for analyzing trap efficiency. Based on the ±320-kV GIL physical platform, the research indicates that the total number of particles trapped is negatively correlated with the initial distance of the particles from the trap (5, 15, 25, and 35 cm). On the side close to the spacer below the trap, the 5% of the total trapped particle length of the trap, that is, the “GIL spacer safety zone,” is positively correlated with the trap porosity (13.4%, 24.1%, and 32.3%). The coating below the trap can increase this area’s length to some extent. Based on simulation calculations, it was verified that stationary particles at the initial moment will not jump due to external voltage when they are below the designed particle trap. The conclusions of this article provide guidance for clarifying particle trap design methods and evaluation criteria, as well as for developing stable and reliable dc gas-insulated equipment.

61. Adaptive-Optimization-Based Digital Simulation Database for Nonuniform Aging Diagnosis of Transformer Insulation System

Abstract

The trend toward intellectualization is pervasive in the field of power equipment fault diagnosis. However, due to the sample database's limitations, intelligent diagnosis of transformer insulation aging states near the internal hotspot regions remains a challenge. To address this issue, an optimization-design-based simulation model is proposed for the development of a frequency domain spectroscopy (FDS) database for diagnosing nonuniform aging states of power transformer. The simulation model is developed in the current work using distributed relaxation circuits and fast Fourier transforms, and the electric parameters used are identified using adaptive iteration particle swarm optimization. Finally, verification established that the extended simulation model was capable of simulating the FDS of a system with nonuniformly assigned aging states. In this regard, the contribution will aid in the establishment of a trustworthy FDS database for the purpose of advancing intelligent diagnosis of the aging state of transformer oil–paper insulation at hotspots.

Abstract

The Electrically Excited Doubly Salient Variable Reluctance Machine (EEDSVRM) is a new type of brushless machine designed according to the principle of air gap reluctance change. There is neither permanent magnet steel nor excitation winding on the rotor. The rotor is made of silicon steel sheets, thus the structure of the variable reluctance machine is very simple. There are many optimization methods for this type of machine optimal design, such as novel machine topology optimization, finite element simulation-based optimization, mathematical analysis-based optimization, intelligent algorithm-based optimization, and multiple fusion-based optimization. Firstly, this article introduces the basic structure and working principle of the EEDSVRM and analyzes both its common regularity and individual difference. Then, the different optimization design methods of EEDSVRM are reviewed, the advantages and disadvantages of the different optimization methods are summarized, and the research interests of the optimization design of variable reluctance machines in the future are prospected.

Abstract

As an important structural parameter of silicone polymers, no reliable test methods of the degree of substitution (R/Si ratio) have been reported yet. According to the Si-O alternating arrangement structural characteristics of condensed silicone resin, the quantitative relationship between Si, 0 and substituent R groups could be established, and the calculation formula of degree of substitution could be deduced. A quantitative test method for the R/Si ratio of condensed methylphenyl silicone resin was established by determining the molar ratio of the substituent groups by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy combined with the silicon content determination by inductively coupled plasma spectrometry. This method proved to be feasible and repeatable, avoiding signal interference in background, long time, and imprecise quantification in 29Si NMR test. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Carbon neutrality is a state of dynamic equilibrium in carbon dioxide emissions. In insulation material aspect, polypropylene (PP) with grafted side chain segments possesses recyclability and may have better electrical property under high temperature compared with traditional norecyclable insulation insulation material like cross-linked polyethylene, which will reduce the carbon emission and help carbon neutrality processing. However, focused on the ideal grafted PP chain, the bandgap ( E g ) parameter is no longer suitable for describing the electrical properties of this system for the small grafting ratio. The induced grafted monomer might generate new band energy level and reduce the bandgap but with improvement on the electrical properties, which is not consistent with the positive correlation of the bandgap and the electrical properties. Alternatively, the trap depth, as one of the important electrical performance parameters, can reflect its influence on conductivity and breakdown. In this paper, the trap depth of the grafted PP chain is predicted by machine learning method with recursive feature elimination-based fingerprints. The paper analyzes the influence of different component groups and the ratioes of PP monomers on the charge trap depth. The grafted monomers with strong positive correlations on the electron/hole trap depth are given, and the electrical conductivity of PP-g-VK polymer has been tested for validation from the side. This paper provides a predictable parameter for the analysis of grafted systems and accelerates future predictions of performance parameters such as conductivity and breakdown strength. Abstract

To investigate the bulk charging behavior of ethylene propylene rubber subjected to surface charge accumulation, surface potential decay (SPD) measurement and electro-acoustic method were employed, after the sample was treated by a corona discharge for different time durations. The space charge behavior and trap distribution were obtained. The results show that the surface potential decay (SPD) property correlated with charging time and surface charge polarity. The decay rate of surface potential correlates with charging time, where SPD rate decreases with the increase of charging time. The accumulated surface charges can be injected into the bulk state, and the bulk charging property has a strong correlation with corona treatment time duration. The long-time corona treated sample has a lower initial SPD value. Surface trap distribution influences the accumulation and injection characteristics of the carriers. A plurality of charges will be injected into the material and then trapped as space charges in the interior material. As a result, the trapped space charge can affect surface potential significantly, especially for samples with longer corona treatment duration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
