Two 2D coordination sheets with narrow bandgap based on tetranuclear cuprofullerene pentafluorobenzoate constructed with linear (μ2–η2:η2)2-C60 connecting CuI/CuII pentafluorobenzoate polymeric chains, were realized under solvothermal conditions.

This study examines the fluorescence enhancement effects of forsythoside E, one of metabolites of Forsythia suspensa, on human serum albumin (HSA) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) under simulated physiological conditions. The increase in protein fluorescence induced by forsythoside E are approximately the same in slightly acidic and neutral solutions, whereas the protein fluorescence intensities barely change in the alkaline solution after adding forsythoside E. The fluorescence increase of proteins caused by forsythoside E are significantly bigger in ethanol than in the other two solvents. The enhancement effects of forsythoside E on protein fluorescence were weakened when Cu2+ and Fe3+ were pre-added to the solution. Forsythoside E had little effect on the fluorescence of glycosylated BSA (gBSA) but increased the fluorescence of glycosylated HSA (gHSA) in a concentration-dependent manner because BSA was significantly more glycosylated than HSA. These findings can help us to understand the delivering efficiency, absorption, toxicity, and the metabolic process of forsythoside E in vivo.

Over the past two decades, visible-light-induced transformations have been regarded as being among the most environmentally benign and powerful strategies for constructing complex molecules and diverse synthetic building blocks in organic synthesis. However, the development of efficient photochemical processes for assembling enantiomerically pure molecules remains a significant challenge. Herein, we describe a simple and efficient visible-light-induced C-P bond forming reaction for the synthesis of P-chiral heteroaryl phosphine oxides in moderate to high yields with excellent ee values (97-99% ee). Even in the absence of transition metal or photoredox catalysts, a variety of P-chiral heteroaryl phosphine oxides, including chiral diphosphine oxide 41, have been directly obtained under air conditions. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations have shown that the reaction involves intersystem crossing and single electron transfer to give a diradical intermediate under visible light irradiation.

In connection with the design of floating wind turbines, stochastic dynamic analysis is a critical task considering nonlinear wind and wave forces. To study the random structural responses of a newly designed submerged tension leg platform (STLP) wind turbine, a set of dynamic simulations and comparison analysis with the MIT/NREL TLP wind turbine are carried out. The signal filter method is used to evaluate the mean and standard deviations of the structural response. Furthermore, the extreme responses are estimated by using the mean upcrossing rate method. The fatigue damages for blade root, tower, and mooring line are also studied according to the simulated time-series. The results and comparison analysis show that the STLP gives small surge and pitch motions and mooring line tensions in operational sea states due to the small water-plane area. Additionally, in severe sea states, the STLP gives lower extreme values of platform pitch, slightly larger surge and heave motions and better towerbase and mooring line fatigue performances than those of the MIT/NREL TLP. It is found that the STLP wind turbine has good performances in structural responses and could be a potential type for exploiting the wind resources located in deep waters.

Mudstone subgrade may exhibit rather complicated deformation behavior under the coupling effect of unloading and wet swelling caused by subgrade excavation. To study the deformation mechanism of mudstone subgrade, mudstones were sampled from the NO.3 branch tunnel of Badong section of Zhengzhou-Wanzhou High-speed Railway and a series of unloading and wet-swelling tests were carried out on them. We studied the long-term deformation behavior of mudstone subgrade caused by excavation based on a creep test with unloading conditions. The expansion rate of the complete mudstone cylinder samples was extremely low under the wetting and drying cycle, while that of the soil samples after the disintegration of complete mudstone was between 1% and 10% when immersed in water. Excavation unloading damage, groundwater infiltration, long-term creep deformation, dry-wet cycle, and hot-cold alternation catalyzed each other, leading to the aggravation of mudstone disintegration and the obvious increase of expansibility of underwater mudstone after disintegration. The maximum arch deformation of mudstone subgrade can be divided into three parts: the rebound deformation during short-term excavation, the creep deformation related to time and the wet-swelling deformation. Generally, the creep deformation would not converge in two years if support measures were not taken, the wet-swelling deformation could tend to a steady value after a certain period of excavation.

BACKGROUND Extra-hepatic bile duct injury (EHBDI) is very rare among all blunt abdominal injuries. According to literature statistics, it only accounts for 3%-5% of abdominal injuries, most of which are combined injuries. Isolated EHBDI is more rare, with a special injury mechanism, clinical presentation and treatment strategy, so missed diagnosis easily occurs. CASE SUMMARY We report a case of unexplained abdominal effusion and jaundice following blunt abdominal trauma in our department. Of which, surgical exploration of the case was performed and a large amount of bile leakage in the abdominal cavity was found. No obvious abdominal organ damage or bile duct rupture was found. Surgery was terminated after the common bile duct indwelled with a T tube. After 2 wk, a T-tube angiography revealed the lesion in the common bile duct pancreatic segment, confirming isolated EHBDI. And 2 mo later, the T tube was pulled out with re-examined magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography, indicating narrowing of the common bile duct injury, with no special treatment due to no clinical symptoms and no abnormality in the current follow-up. CONCLUSION This case was featured by intraoperative bile leakage and no EHBDI. This type of rare isolated EHBDI is prone to missed and delayed diagnosis due to its atypical clinical manifestations and imaging features. Surgery is still the main treatment, and the indications and principles of bile duct injury repair must be followed.

Organic cocrystal exhibits excellent photothermal conversion (PTC), but how the intermolecular interactions of cocrystals regulate the PTC is obscure. Here, two isomeric donor molecules (phenanthrene and anthracene) and two electron-withdrawing molecules (7,7,8,8,8-tetracyanodimethylquinone and 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinone dimethane) are self-assembled into the four cocrystals (PTQ, PFQ, ATQ, and AFQ). By changing the molecular configuration of the donor and the electron-withdrawing ability of the acceptor, the intrinsic influencing factors of the intermolecular interaction on the PTC were explored. Under near-infrared laser (808 nm) irradiation, the PTC efficiencies of PTQ, PFQ, AFQ, and ATQ are 35.85, 44.74, 57.00, and 60.53%, respectively. Based on the single-crystal X-ray diffraction, ultrafast time-resolved transient absorption, and excited-state theoretical calculations, we found that the π-π stacking in ATQ and AFQ is conducive to promoting the near-infrared light-harvesting ability and the p-π interaction of cocrystals can regulate the nonradiative rotation of -C(C≡N)

Noncovalent interaction between small molecules can generate a charge-transfer (CT) state, achieving the effect of a conjugated large molecule as well as a transition-metal complex. Herein, we demonstrate a room-temperature stable dianion biradical conveniently produced by noncovalent intermolecular CT interaction between anthraquinone (AQ) and potassium tert-butoxide (KOtBu). Essentially, CT from KOtBu to AQ boosts absorption bands from the UV to visible and near-infrared (NIR) range, enabling AQ-KOtBu to have new absorption bands around 400, 550, and 900 nm. The absorption bands of AQ-KOtBu are dramatically enhanced after blue-to-green or NIR light excitation. Interestingly, both ground state AQ-KOtBu (C(1)) and photoexcited AQ-KOtBu (C(2)) are quenched by oxygen to produce singlet oxygen. Furthermore, C(1) can be photoactivated by purged nitrogen in solution, and C(2) can be regenerated after the photoexcitation and purged nitrogen in solution, which may serve as a photosensitizer under visible and NIR light excitation.
