In large-scale process industries, one of the great challenges is to achieve optimum operation of systems with multi-time-scale property and partially unknown models. To this end, this paper proposes a novel multi-rate layered OOC method, which employs lifting technique to unify the relatively fast dual-rate of basic loop layer and relatively slow single-rate of operational layer. Besides, by integrating model-based predictive control of basic loop layer with data-based actor-critic reinforcement learning (RL) of operational layer, it overcomes the difficulty of building the operational process dynamic model. The convergence of the proposed method is proved, and dense medium separation (DMS) process is taken as an application case to illustrate the effectiveness of our proposed method via a self-developed simulation platform.

Selenium cathode attracts great attention due to its high theoretical volumetric capacity and better electrical conductivity than sulfur cathode. Herein, N/S co-doped microporous carbon (NS-K-PC) is designed and prepared as Se host by a spray drying process of the poly(styrenesulfonic acid)-melamine salt solution followed by carbonization and activation process. The as-prepared NS-K-PC shows a very high micropore contribution of 94.8% in the total surface area, and a total N/S heteroatom doping level of 2.5 wt% in the carbon matrix. The accurate evaluation of electron correlations is highly necessary for the proper descriptions of the electronic structures in strongly correlated molecules, ranging from bond-dissociating molecules, polyradicals, to large conjugated molecules and transition metal complexes. For this purpose, in this paper, a new ab-initio quantum chemistry program Kylin 1.0 for electron correlation calculations at various quantum many-body levels, including configuration interaction (CI), perturbation theory (PT), and density matrix renormalization group (DMRG), is presented. In addtion, fundamental quantum chemical methods such as Hartree-Fock self-consistent field (HF-SCF) and the complete active space SCF (CASSCF) are aslo implemented. The Kylin 1.0 program possesses these features: (1) efficient DMRG implementation based on the matrix product operator (MPO) formulation for describing static electron correlation within a large active space composed of more than 100 orbitals, supporting both $\rm U(1)_{n} \times U(1)_{S_z}$ and $\rm U(1)_{n} \times SU(2)_{S}$ symmetries; (2) efficient second-order DMRG-self-consistent field (SCF) implementation; (3) externally-contracted multi-reference CI (MRCI) and Epstein-Nesbet PT with DMRG reference wave functions for including the remaining dynamic electron correlation outside the large active spaces. In this paper, we introduce the capabilities and numerical benchmark examples of the Kylin 1.0 program.

Tuned tin chalcogenides rooted in hierarchical porous carbon (HPC) with N-carbon coating layers are prepared by thermal shock under various temperatures (denoted as HPC-SnS2-PAN-Various T). With the increase of annealing temperature, the morphology and phase structure of SnS2, as well as the cyclization degree of polyacrylonitrile (PAN), are significantly changed, which leads to the formation of rod-like SnS and ordered structure of conductive N-carbon layer. By combining HPC, N-carbon coating derived from the cyclization of PAN, with 1D SnS nanorods generated from structural phase transformation of SnS2, the optimized composite (HPC-SnS2-PAN-500) as anode for lithium ion batteries (LIBs) provides buffer space for volume changes during alloying/dealloying process, builds a highly conductive network as well as decreases irreversible capacity from solid electrolyte interphase and enhances the ion/electron transport. Attributed to the above merits from composition regulation and architecture modification by sulfur depletion and PAN cyclization, this target anode exhibits an extraordinary cycling stability with a high specific capacity of 652.5 mA h/g at 0.5 A/g after 900 cycles. It suggests that rod-like SnS embedded in HPC with cyclized PAN layers by thermal treatment approach renders a potential structural design of anode materials for LIBs.

The growth of IMCs at solder/substrate interface becomes more important with the sustaining advancement of integrated circuit technology. The purpose of this study was to investigate the morphology and growth kinetics of the intermetallic compounds (IMCs) formed on the diverse copper lines (including electroless copper, electroplated copper, sputtered copper) of printed circuit board under different conditions (counting isothermal aging, thermal shock and multiple reflow). And the influence of IMCs on signal integrity after isothermal aging treatment was also discussed. The results indicate that IMCs emerged on copper lines with discrepant microstructure have evident differences in morphology and thickness while the microstructure, composition and growth thickness of the IMCs naturally get changed during variational conditions. And overgrown IMCs will further aggravate the signal transmission loss for the microstrip transmission line. These interesting evolutions in IMCs introduce advantageous assistance for further investigation of solder joint reliability in electronic packaging technology.

This study was to explore the feasibility of immunofluorescence based on fluorescent nanoparticles (FNP) in the detection of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) marker Cardiac troponin I (cTnI), and analyze the clinical value of optimized rescue measures in the emergency treatment of AMI. FNPs were prepared with the soap-free emulsion polymerization with potassium peroxodisulfate (KPS), styrene (St), and acrylic acid (AA) as raw materials and Nile red (NR) as fluorescent dye. FNPs were then applied to lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA). The size and Zeta potential of the FNP were measured with transmission electron microscope (TEM) and laser granulometer (LGM), respectively. The fluorescence intensity and ultraviolet (UV)-visible absorption spectrum (AP) of the FNP were detected with the fluorescence spectrophotometer (FSM) and ultraviolet spectrophotome-ter (USM), respectively. The changes in functional groups in the test sample were determined with a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR). The sensitivity (Sen) and precision (Pre) of cTnI content detection were analyzed comprehensively. 76 AMI patients were recruited as the research objects and rolled into a control group (conventional treatment, group C) and an observation group (optimized rescue measures, group O)) with 38 cases in each group. The cTnI levels of the two groups of patients were detected before and after the treatment. In addition, the cure rates, death rates, and complications of the two groups were counted statistically. It was found that when the KPS and AA were 0.1 g and 0.4 g, the particle size was about 300 nm, the maximum wavelength of the UV-visible AP of FNP was 552 nm, and the maximum fluorescence emission wavelength was 606 nm. After the FNPs were dyed, –CH characteristic peaks were found at 1,060 cm−1 and 2,926 cm−1 in nitrogen heterocycles and aromatic heterocycles, which were similar to NR. The upper limit of cTnI concentration was 80 ng/mL, and the coefficient of variation (CV) was 1.32%–1.86%. The cTnI value of patients in group O after treatment was obviously lower than that in group C (P < 0.05). The incidence of complications and death rate in the group O were considerably different from those in group C (P < 0.01). To sum up, FNP was adopted in the detection of AMI marker cTnI, and the LFIA based on FNP showed high detection Sen and Pre, which can be promoted in clinical detection. In short, the optimized rescue measures improved the survival rate of AMI patients effectively.

Epilepsy is the most common disease of the nervous system, characterized by aberrant normal brain activity. Neuroinflammation is a prominent feature in the brain in epileptic humans and animal models of epilepsy. However, it remains elusive as to how peripheral inflammation affects epilepsy. Herein we demonstrated significantly greater seizure susceptibility and severity of epilepsy under kainic acid (KA) via intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in mouse model of epilepsy. Nissl staining was employed for assessment of the neuronal damage, immunofluorescence for staining of the microglial cells and astrocytes in the mouse brain slices, and ELISA for detection of the changes of inflammatory factors. We observed a smaller population of viable neurons in CA1 and CA3 regions, a greater population of IBA-1-positive and GFAP-positive cells, with a significant upregulation of IL-1β and IL-6 in hippocampus of epileptic mice when treated with LPS, indicating that LPS aggravates hippocampal neuron injury in epilepsy, and induces neuroinflammation in the hippocampus. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age. Abnormal ovarian folliculogenesis is the main factor responsible for PCOS. Iron metabolism plays a vital role in endocrine disorder. This study aimed to investigate the potentials of iron metabolism in PCOS and the underlying molecular mechanisms. Mice were injected with dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) to establish the PCOS model in-vivo. H & E staining was performed for histological analysis; qRT-PCR and western blot were employed to determine the mRNA and protein expressions. Immunofluorescence was used for mitochondrial staining. Cellular functions were detected using CCK-8 and PI staining assays. Ferric ammonium citrate (FAC) activates the transferrin receptor (TFRC), increases the iron content, and suppresses the cell viability of the human granulosa-like tumor cell line (KGN). However, TFRC knockdown suppressed ferroptosis of KGN cells. Iron uptake mediated the activation of NADPH oxidase 1 (NOX1) signaling, which induced the release of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mitochondrial damage. Moreover, TFRC activated PTEN induced kinase 1 (PINK1) signaling and induced mitophagy; iron-uptake-induced upregulation of acyl-CoA synthetase long chain family member 4 (ACSL4) was required for mitophagy activation and glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) degradation. Additionally, FAC increased iron uptake and suppressed the folliculogenesis in-vivo. In conclusion, TFRC increased the iron content, mediated the release of ROS, activated mitophagy, and induced lipid peroxidation, which further promoted the ferroptosis of KGN cells. Therefore, the inhibitory effects of TFRC/NOX1/PINK1/ACSL4 signaling on folliculogenesis can be a potential target for PCOS.[Figure: see text].

The graphene/mesocarbon microbead (MCMB) composite is assessed as an anode material with a high capacity for lithium-ion batteries. The composite electrode exhibits improved cycling stability and rate capability, delivering a high initial charge/discharge capacity of 421.4 mA·h/g/494.8 mA·h/g as well as an excellent capacity retention over 500 cycles at a current density of 40 mA/g. At a higher current density of 800 mA/g, the electrode still retains 35% of its initial capacity which exceeds the capacity retention of pure graphene or MCMB reference electrodes. Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy reveal that the composite electrode favors electrochemical kinetics as compared with graphene and MCMB separately. Superior electrochemical properties suggest a strong synergetic effect between highly conductive graphene and MCMB.

Nanocubic lithium titanate (Li4Ti5O12, N-LTO) has been synthesized by a modified solid-state reaction using H-titanate nanotubes as titanium source and lithium carbonate as lithium source. The as-prepared N-LTO was highly crystalline with size ranging from 50 nm to 200 nm. The electrochemical performance of the N-LTO was investigated and compared with commercial nanoscale lithium titanate (C-LTO). The N-LTO electrode showed an initial discharge capacity of 181.0 mAh g−1 at 0.5 C with capacity retention of 86.7% after 200 cycles. At a high rate of 10 C, the N-LTO electrode retained a high reversible capacity of 149.2 mAh g−1, considerably higher compared with the value of 117.1 mAh g−1 for C-LTO. The N-LTO electrode exhibited excellent long-term cycling stability with capacity retention of 82.6% at 5 C after 1000 cycles. A full cell of LiFePO4/N-LTO was tested, showing capacity retention of 78.7% at 1 C after 100 cycles.
