Rare-earth titanate oxides are believed to be prospective functional materials for photocatalytic and photoluminescent applications because of their excellent optical properties and thermal stability of their physical properties. However, the relationships between optical properties and photoelectron trapping mechanisms are unclear. Herein, the structure, electronic, and optical properties of pyrochlore-structure Re2Ti2O7 (Re = Sm and Eu) were investigated using the first-principles approach with the Hubbard parameter U (GGA + U). The calculated bandgap is 2.5 eV for Sm2Ti2O7 and 2.4 eV for Eu2Ti2O7, which is in good agreement with the experimental observation. The results indicate that the strongly localized f states at the top of valence band are charge-trapping sites for photoexcitation of Re2Ti2O7, where electrons can absorb photon energy and transfer from the valence band to the conduction band, resulting in the photocatalytic and/or fluorescent effects in the visible and early UV regions. The important optical parameters, dielectric function ε (ω) , refractive index n (ω) , extinction coefficient k (ω) , reflectivity R (ω) , absorption coefficient I (ω) , optical conductivity σ (ω) , and electron energy-loss L (ω) were studied in detail, indicating that these optical parameters of Sm2Ti2O7 and Eu2Ti2O7 are insensitive to the ultra-violet (UV) radiation, but both Sm2Ti2O7 and Eu2Ti2O7 exhibit excellent optical properties in the visible and early UV regions. This work provides a clear understanding on the photoelectron trapping mechanism of pyrochlore-structure Re2Ti2O7, which will help to improve the photocatalytic and photoluminescent performance of Re2Ti2O7 and broaden their applications. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the peptide composition and evaluate the reproducibility of the soybean oligopeptides. Methods: High performance liquid chromatography tandem high resolution mass spectrometry was employed for peptidomic analysis of the soybean oligopeptides prepared at the same condition at different batches. Generality and individuality of the samples were also discussed based on the heat map analysis and principal component analysis （PCA）. Results: About 1 000 peptides were identified from each of the materials and most of them were short peptides. From the set analysis, 101 peptides were found of detectability from all samples, but there were also many peptides that could be only detected from part of the samples. Moreover, differences between the fifth sample and other samples were evidently observed from the principal component analysis. Conclusion: Though prepared at the same conditions, commonalities and differences coexisted across the samples from different batches. In practical production of oligopeptides, efforts should be made to narrow the differences and increase the commonalities, so that the reproducibility of the products can be improved.

In the current research, we investigated whether numeracy,scientific reports in the popular press, and personal experiencewere associated with people’s data-based decision making.We collected data from English-speaking adult participants(N = 187), residing in the United States and Canada, whowere recruited through Amazon Mechanical Turk andcompleted the online study. Results showed that participantswith higher numeracy were more likely to make the correctdata-based decision. However, participants used theirnumeracy selectively. They seemed to use their numeracyskills to confirm their own desire rather than to objectivelyevaluate the data or confirm reported scientific findings. Nosignificant association was found between personalexperience and data-based decision making. Future researchmay examine decision making across other, general-lifedomains to examine the replicability of the current results.

This paper summarized the nursing experience of an elderly patients with actinic keratosis(AK)who were treated with Traditional Chinese Medicine Plum-blossom needle and ALA photodynamic therapy. Key issues of AK nursing were skin preconditioning, protected from light exposure and pain control. A comprehensive education was carried out to relieve the negative emotions and recovery of the patient. Foamy viruses belong to the Spumaretrovirinae subfamily member of the Retroviridae family and produce nonpathogenic infection to hosts in the natural conditions. However, infections of foamy viruses can dramatically cause severe cytopathic effects in vitro. To date, the exact molecular mechanism has remained unclear which implied the tremendous importance of virus-host cell immune reactions. In this study, we found that the transactivator Tas in two foamy viruses isolated from Old World Monkey (OWM) induced obvious inhibition of cell proliferation via the upregulation of Foxo3a expression. It was mediated by the generation of ROS and the initiation of ER stress, and ultimately, the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway was triggered. Notably, PFV Tas contributed to the accumulation of G0/G1 phase cycle arrest induced by the activation of the p53 signaling pathway and the nuclear transportation of HDAC4 via upregulating PPM1E expression. Together, these results demonstrated the different survival strategies by which foamy virus can hijack host cell cytokines and regulate virus-host cell interactions.
