Hintergrund: In zahnmedizinischen Studien wurden morphologische Auffälligkeiten an Lippen, Zähnen und Mundhöhle bei Blechbläsern mehrfach beschrieben. Hierbei handelte es sich um Druckstellen an der Oberlippeninnenseite (dentale Impressionen) sowie an der Oberlippenaußenseite (durch das Mundstück), "Verhornungen", Schleimhauteinrisse, sowie ödematöse Schwellungen und Schwielen.Material und Methoden: Zur makroskopischen Beurteilung wurden die Mundlippen von 50 Blechbläsern nach etwa einstündiger Spielzeit klinisch untersucht, sonographiert und Auffälligkeiten fotodokumentiert. Bei zwei weiteren Bläsern (ein Trompeter, ein Querflötist) wurden die Mundlippen im Rahmen von Gutachten zur Beurteilung der Berufs(un)fähigkeit evaluiert.Ergebnisse: 13 der 50 Blechbläser im Alter von 17-62 Jahren zeigten nach dem Instrumentenspiel morphologische Auffälligkeiten der Mundlippen. Sieben Bläser hatten irreversible, narbige Veränderungen der Oberlippe. Ein Trompeter wies eine Narbenvorstufe (weiche, dentale Impression der Oberlippe) auf. Lippenschwellungen traten bei zwei Blechbläsern an der Oberlippe und einmal an der Unterlippe auf. Bei einem 32-jährigen Posaunist wurde eine Mittelgesichtsasymmetrie mit Oberlippenfurche links entdeckt. Bei einer 37-jährigen Waldhornistin wurde sonographisch an der linken Unterlippe ein indurierter Lymphknoten gefunden, der mit einem gestauten Lymphgefäß verbunden war. Zusätzlich wurde zwei professionellen Blasmusikern mit Oberlippennarben im Rahmen von Gutachten Berufsunfähigkeit attestiert.Diskussion: Morphologische Auffälligkeiten sind bei Blechbläsern überwiegend an der Oberlippe beschrieben worden. Auch in der vorliegenden Studie waren Veränderungen meist an der Oberlippe lokalisiert (n=11), lediglich zwei Probanden wiesen Veränderungen der Unterlippe auf. Durch den Anpressdruck des Mundstücks entstehen an der Oberlippeninnenseite Schleimhautläsionen, welche sowohl in der Literatur als auch in der vorliegenden Studie (n=7) beschrieben wurden

Aims. A large-scale survey of the Galactic center region in the 3 mm rotational transitions of SiO, HCO+ and H13CO+ (beamsize ~3'6) was conducted to provide an estimate of cloud conditions, heating mechanisms, chemistry, and other properties. Results. Velocity channel maps, longitude-velocity maps, and latitude-velocity maps are presented. We identify 51 molecular clouds 33 of them belong to the Galactic center and 18 to disk gas. We can distinguish clearly between regions where the SiO or HCO+ dominate., Published in Astronomy and Astrophysics, v523, A45, 2010. Hintergrund: Die Untersuchung der Mundlippen ist für Blechbläser relevant im Hinblick auf mögliche funktionelle Störungen (z.B. Ansatzdystonie) und/oder morphologische Läsionen (z.B. Narben). Diese können durch die Belastung des täglichen Übens entstehen und müssen immer häufiger für versicherungsrechtliche oder berufsgenossenschaftliche Ansprüche begutachtet werden.Material und Methoden: Zur stroboskopischen Untersuchung der Mundlippenschwingungen haben wir bei insgesamt 13 Blechbläsern drei verschiedene Methoden verglichen: 90°-Lupenlaryngoskop mit sog. Visualizern (seitlich gefensterte Mundstücke, Metallringe) 0°-Optik durch den Schaft des Mundstückes eingeführt 70°-Optik durch ein seitliches Bohrloch in das Mundstück eingeführt Ergebnisse: Je besser die Optik am Mundstück fixiert war, desto konstanter konnten die Mundlippen auch bei Kopfbewegungen der Probanden fokussiert werden und desto besser war die Abbildungsqualität. Optimal fokussiert waren die Mundlippen bei der dritten Methode. Nur diese Technik erlaubt ein Spielen des Instrumentes ohne Luftverlust mit im Handel erhältlichen Mundstücken.Diskussion: Zur Schwingungsuntersuchung der Mundlippen bei Blechbläsern sollte eine standardisierte Untersuchungsmethodik verwendet werden: Die Optik muss mit dem Mundstück fest verbunden sein, und es sollten handelsübliche Mundstücke mit angeschlossenem Blasinstrument zum Einsatz kommen. So können die realen Spielbedingungen der Blasinstrumentalisten gut imitiert werden.

Propylene is the most saturated hydrocarbon ever detected in space through radio astronomical techniques. In spite of its weak dipole moment, six doublets (A and E species) plus another line from the A species have been observed with main-beam temperatures above 20 mK. The derived total column density of propylene is 4 × 1013 cm-2, which corresponds to an abundance relative to H2 of 4 × 10 -9, i.e., comparable to that of other well-known and abundant hydrocarbons in this cloud, such as c-C3H2. Although this isomer of C3H6 could play an important role in interstellar chemistry, it has been ignored by previous chemical models of dark clouds as there seems to be no obvious formation pathway in gas phase. The discovery of this species in a dark cloud indicates that a thorough analysis of the completeness of gas-phase chemistry has to be done. © 2007. The American Astronomical Society.

We present the first unbiased molecular line survey toward an extragalactic source, namely the nuclear region of the starburst galaxy NGC 253. The scan covers the frequency band from 129.1 to 175.2 GHz, i.e., most of the 2 mm atmospheric window. We identify 111 spectral features as transitions from 25 different molecular species. Eight of which (three tentatively) are detected for the first time in the extragalactic interstellar medium. Among these newly detected species, we detected the rare isotopomers 34SO and HC 18O+. Tentative detections of two deuterated species, DNC and N2D+, are reported for the first time from a target beyond the Magellanic Clouds. In addition, three hydrogen recombination lines are identified, while no organic molecules larger than methanol are detected. Column densities and rotation temperatures are calculated for all the species, including an upper limit to the ethanol abundance. A comparison of the chemical composition of the nuclear environment of NGC 253 with those of selected nearby galaxies demonstrates the chemical resemblance of IC 342 and NGC 4945 to that of NGC 253. On the other hand, the chemistries characterizing NGC 253 and M82 are clearly different. We also present a comparison of the chemical composition of NGC 253 with those observed in Galactic prototypical sources. The chemistry of NGC 253 shows a striking similarity with the chemistry observed toward the Galactic center molecular clouds, which are thought to be dominated by low-velocity shocks. This resemblance strongly suggests that the heating in the nuclear environment of NGC 253 is dominated by the same mechanism as that in the central region of the Milky Way. © 2006. We present observations of the singly and doubly deuterated species of thioformaldehyde, HDCS and D2CS, toward the dark cloud Barnard 1. This is the first detection of D2CS in space and in dense, cold prestellar regions. Column densities obtained using rotational diagrams and a large velocity gradient model show an extremely high D enhancement in thioformaldehyde in Barnard 1. Although the column density of H2CS is smaller than that of H2CO, both species show similar D enhancements in their singly and doubly deuterated species. A chemical model—including multiply deuterated species—has been used in order to interpret the observations. Predicted rotational frequencies from laboratory data for HDCS and D2CS are significantly in error when compared to the observed frequencies in space. Consequently, we have derived new rotational constants for these two species and for H2CS and H2C34S using the observed frequencies in Barnard 1. The new rotational constants allow us to predict the rotational transitions of these species with the accuracy needed for the narrow line emerging from dark clouds. Rotational constants for HDCS and D2CS have been obtained from the observed transitions in the laboratory and in space.
