Owing to the excellent performance of microstructures or nanomaterials with well-designed topological configuration, the characteristic scale of structural design is gradually shifting from macroscopic to nanoscale or microscale structural design. However, the size effect that emerges from the small-scale structures may not be explained effectively with the hypothesis of classical mechanics owing to the lack of microscopic parameters in the classical constitutive model. In addition, slender beams within such small-scale structures are prone to buckling failure, which puts forward additional requirements for the stability design of the structure except for the overall compliance of the structure. Therefore, a topology optimization framework combining the modified couple stress theory with the solid isotropic material penalization (SIMP) model is constructed to illustrate the size effect on topology optimization. Numerical results show that the size effect affects the compliance, buckling performance, and topological configurations of the evolutionary structures.

The development of efficient and stable white-light emissive materials is highly desirable in displays and solid-state lighting. Here we present a high-quality white-light emitter based a dual-emitting MOF hybrid, which is achieved by dye encapsulation engineering within a robust Zr-MOF (PCN-128W) containing a highly luminescent tetraphenylethylene-based ligand. The pore confinement effect well isolates the incorporated dye molecules (trans-4-[4-(Dimethylamino)styryl]-1-methylpyridinium iodide (DSM)) and therefore suppress the aggregation caused luminescence quenching. The dye emission is mainly sensitized by PCN-128W host through Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET), and the FRET process is incomplete, thus enabling the hybrid to feature dual emissions upon a single excitation. The emission color of DSM@PCN-128W hybrid can be systematically tuned from blue to white, and to orange by regulating the dye encapsulation content. A broad white-light emission with a considerably high quantum yield (21.2%) is obtained in the case of dye contents of 0.15 wt%. The luminescence of DSM@PCN-128W hybrid is stable in ambient air for over 1 month, and show good resistance to continuous UV light irradiation, owing to the protective MOF Matrix that largely inhibits the UV exposure to dye molecules. What’s more, by combining DSM@PCN-128W with a commercial UV LED chip, we fabricate a white-light emitting prototype device showing CIE chromaticity coordinates of (0.34, 0.33), a CRI of 79.1, and a CCT of 5525 K.

With the tremendous development of additive manufacturing technology in recent years, porous infill structures with well-designed topology configurations have been widely used in various physical fields. The porous infill structure may be prone to thermo-mechanical buckling failure under certain extreme thermal conditions due to temperature gradient effects and delicate local details of the porous infill structure.Therefore, a topological optimization design method, which considers the influence of the thermo-solid coupling field on the buckling performance of the porous infill structure, is proposed by using the projection approach merged with the Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP) method. Critical buckling load factors obtained with thermal-elastic equilibrium and linear buckling analysis are employed to measure the buckling performance of the structure. Numerical examples show that the proposed method can effectively improve the buckling performance of the porous infill structure under the thermo-mechanical environment.

Objectives: To analyze the effects of compound dextran combined with atorvastatin calcium on blood flow indexes, peroxidase 2 (Prx2) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) in patients with cerebral vasospasm (CVS) caused by subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Methods: One hundred patients with CVS caused by SAH treated in Baoding No.1 Central Hospital from January 2019 to December 2020 were divided into observation group and control group. The control group was treated with atorvastatin calcium tablets, while the observation group was additionally treated with compound dextran. The hospital stays, Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS), hemoglobin (Hb) and hematocrit (Hct) levels before and five days after treatment were recorded. The hemodynamic parameters of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) and the serum levels of Prx2 and ET-1 were detected. Results: After treatment, GOS and Hct levels in the observation group were both higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the mean and peak velocities of the MCA in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum levels of Prx2 and ET-1 in the observation group were significantly lower compared with those in the control group (P < 0.05). However, no significant differences were found in the incidences of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). In this work, a disposable and inexpensive bamboo stir bar containing an organic membrane was constructed to perform stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE), followed by portable mass spectrometry to achieve on-site detection of four residual drugs (malachite green, crystal violet and their metabolites) in fishes. The entire method uses only microliter quantities of organic solvents, enabling environmentally friendly pretreatment. The portable mass spectrometer can simultaneously detect four target analytes in a sample in approximately ten seconds. Under the optimal conditions, the proposed method was successfully applied to simultaneously detect four drugs in fish samples with detection limits of 0.16-0.59 µg/kg. The spiked recoveries for mandarin fish and lateolabrax maculatus were 74.5-96.5%, with relative standard deviations (RSD) of 4.4-16%. In addition, the matrix effects of the four analytical targets in the method were experimentally verified to range from 7.30% to 20.62%. The method can potentially be extended to the on-site detection of other veterinary drug residues in foods.

Transferrin-modified AuNCs (Tf-AuNCs) with two photon-near infrared (TP-NIR) fluorescence were prepared. For the first time, a novel nanoprobe platform, Tf-AuNCs@MnO2, was developed for the TP-NIR fluorescence imaging and magnetic resonance imaging of living cells and tissues. This platform had high spatiotemporal resolution and a tissue-penetration depth of 300 μm.

The existence of contaminants in food poses a serious threat to human health. In recent years, aptamer sensors (aptasensors) have been developed rapidly for the detection of food contaminants because of their high specificity, design flexibility, and high efficiency. However, the development of high-throughput, highly sensitive, on-site, and cost-effective methods for simultaneous detection of food contaminants is still restricted due to multiple signal overlap or mutual interference and cross-reaction between different analytes with similar molecular structures. To overcome these problems, this Review summarizes some effective strategies from the articles published in recent years about multiplexed aptasensors for the simultaneous detection of food contaminants. This work focuses on the application of multiplexed aptasensors to simultaneously detect antibiotics, pathogens, and mycotoxins in food. These aptasensors mainly contain fluorescent aptasensors, electrochemical aptasensors, surface-enhanced Raman scattering-based aptasensors, microfluidic chip aptasensors, and paper-based multiplexed aptasensors. In addition, this Review also covers the application of nucleic acid cycle amplification and nanomaterial amplification strategies to improve the detection sensitivity. Finally, the limitations and challenges in the design of multiplexed aptasensor are also taken into account.

Let X be a Hopf manifold with non-Abelian fundamental group and E be a holomorphic vector bundle over X, with trivial pull-back to ℂn − {0}. The authors show that there exists a line bundle L over X such that E ⊗ L has a nowhere vanishing section. It is proved that in case dim(X) ≥ 3, π*(E) is trivial if and only if E is filtrable by vector bundles. With the structure theorem, the authors get the cohomology dimension of holomorphic bundle E over X with trivial pull-back and the vanishing of Chern class of E.

Acute lung injury (ALI)/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a life‐threatening disease with a high mortality rate, which was a common complication of fat embolism syndrome (FES). Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) has been reported to exert potent anti‐inflammatory effects under various conditions. In vivo, perinephric fat was injected via tail vein to establish a rat FES model, the anti‐inflammatory effects of UDCA on FES‐induced lung injury were investigated through histological examination, ELISA, qRT‐PCR, Western blot and immunofluorescence. In vitro, human lung microvascular endothelial cells (HPMECs) were employed to understand the protective effects of UDCA. The extent of ALI/ARDS was evaluated and validated by reduced PaO2/FiO2 ratios, increased lung wet/dry (W/D) ratios and impaired alveolar‐capillary barrier, up‐regulation of ALI‐related proteins in lung tissues (including myeloperoxidase [MPO], vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 [VCAM‐1], intercellular cell adhesion molecule‐1 [ICAM‐1]), elevated protein concentration and increased proinflammatory cytokines levels (TNF‐α and IL‐1β) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF). Pre‐treatment with UDCA remarkably alleviated these pathologic and biochemical changes of FES‐induced ALI/ARDS; our data demonstrated that pre‐treatment with UDCA attenuated the pathologic and biochemical changes of FES‐induced ARDS, which provided a possible preventive therapy for lung injury caused by FES.

Live foodborne pathogens proliferate rapidly and do great harm to human health, which requires appropriate methods to supervise. In this work, a portable adenosine triphosphate (ATP) bioluminescence sensor with high specificity for live E. coli O157:H7 strain synergistically enhanced by orientated phage-modified stir bar extraction and bio-proliferation was developed. In brief, the selected phages were directionally immobilized on the poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride)-modified gold stir bar as the bioreceptor. Following the simple stir bar absorptive extraction and bio-proliferation in the Luria-Bertani medium, the number of captured E. coli O157:H7 exploded. Finally, it was quantified by a portable ATP bioluminescence sensor. Benefitting from the high specificity of phage and simple signal dual-amplification strategy, the proposed biosensor achieved the recognition of live bacteria at strain level with superior sensitivity. High-quality tea requires leaves of similar size and tenderness. The grade of the fresh leaves determines the quality of the tea. The automated classification of fresh tea leaves improves resource utilization and reduces manual picking costs. The present study proposes a method based on an improved genetic algorithm for identifying fresh tea leaves in high-speed parabolic motion using the phenotypic characteristics of the leaves. During parabolic flight, light is transmitted through the tea leaves, and six types of fresh tea leaves can be quickly identified by a camera.The influence of combinations of morphology, color, and custom corner-point morphological features on the classification results were investigated, and the necessary dimensionality of the model was tested. After feature selection and combination, the classification performance of the Naive Bayes, k-nearest neighbor, and support vector machine algorithms were compared. The recognition time of Naive Bayes was the shortest, whereas the accuracy of support vector machine had the best classification accuracy at approximately 97%. The support vector machine algorithm with only three feature dimensions (equivalent diameter, circularity, and skeleton endpoints) can meet production requirements with an accuracy rate reaching 92.5%. The proposed algorithm was tested by using the Swedish leaf and Flavia data sets, on which it achieved accuracies of 99.57% and 99.44%, respectively, demonstrating the flexibility and efficiency of the recognition scheme detailed in the present study.This research provides an efficient tea leaves recognition system that can be applied to production lines to reduce manual picking costs. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

This study aims to explore the effect of cultural capital on academic motivation in the context of involution in China. The study will employ an ecological perspective to understand the interaction between college students and the involuted Chinese social context and job market, and the interaction mechanism between cultural capital and academic motivation. The concept of involution refers to the decreased “effort-to-reward ratio” in the education system, which has been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak and the popularity of internet companies for college graduates. Cultural capital, as defined by Bourdieu, refers to a form of capital that can be converted into economic capital and is institutionalized in the form of educational credentials. The study will consider the three forms of cultural capital (objectified, embodied, and institutionalized) and their impact on academic motivation at the school, family, and individual levels. The results of this study will provide insight into the complex relationship between cultural capital and academic motivation in the involuted context in China and will have implications for understanding the phenomenon of study and employment involution.

In food safety monitoring, on-site and simultaneous detection of a variety of insecticides with different concentrations in the same matrix is necessary. However, the task remains challenging. In this study, a novel nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon dot (N, S-CD) was synthesized and used as a QuEChERS clean-up reagent to reduce matrix interferences in the determination of insecticides in vegetables. In addition, a portable mass spectrometer (µ-MS) was employed, without chromatography separation, to directly determine neonicotinoids, carbamates, and benzopyrazole insecticides (with acetamiprid, imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, fipronil, and carbofuran as models) in the pretreated samples. The N,S-CD µ-MS method exhibited effective clean-up performance with satisfactory matrix effects between -15.2% and 15.7%. The recoveries of spiked vegetable samples ranged from 82.2% to 109.7% for the five target insecticides, and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) ranged from 3.8% to 16.5%. The linear ranges were from 2.0 to 5.0 ng/g, with low detection limits (LOD) from 0.5 to 1.0 ng/g. Moreover, the total pretreatment and detection time was within 20 min. Thus, the incorporation of N,S-CD with QuEChERS extraction, together with the portable µ-MS system, could be a promising and feasible strategy for on-site, rapid, and simultaneous detection of various insecticides in vegetables.

It was critically important to develop some sensitive, rapid, and specific imaging or detection methods for the virulent strain in food safety monitoring. In the study, a novel tetraphenyl mono-phenylboronic acid dye (TPE-PBA) with good aggregation-induced emission (AIE) features and high combining capacity towards bacteria was first synthesized. With TPE-PBA as a signal tag, a sandwich-type AIE probe-linked phage sorbent assay was developed for imaging and detecting virulent strains using Escherichia coli O157:H7 (E. coli O157:H7) as a representative. In the assay, phages for E. coli O157:H7 were firstly fixed on the bottom of a 96-well plate to specifically capture the strain, then the TPE-PBA signal tag was added and incubated with the captured strain to produce the phage/E. coli O157:H7/TPE-PBA complex. In the context of severely restricted employment opportunities, undertaking an internship is an important way for students to enhance their employability and sustainable development. The aim of this study was to judge if the implementation of the Internship Promotion Programme (IPP) at universities in Zhejiang Province, China, could enhance graduates’ employability. We conducted surveys and interviews with 400 students and 100 business executives who participated in the IPP during the past 6 years. Based on the collected data and statistical analysis, the findings show that internships help students to improve their innovative thinking, interpersonal communication abilities (domestic and international), problem-solving skills, value creation and responsibility. Participants in the IPP were compared with students who did not take part. The results demonstrated that the IPP participants exhibited higher capabilities to perform important workplace tasks and that as a result, they became more attractive to employers. The analysis, therefore, demonstrates a positive correlation between the internship experience and employability. As a result, it can be concluded that the IPP improves students’ employability and is beneficial to enhancing the quality of higher education, and hence the sustainable development of students.

Purpose Evaluating the fitness accuracy and retentive force of cobalt-chrome (Co-Cr) alloy clasps fabricated using the selective laser melting (SLM) technique. Methods Premolar and molar abutment models with a 0.5-mm undercut depth, 1.5-mm-thick occlusal rest seats, and guiding planes were designed and fabricated using a milling machine. On these models, Akers clasps with 0.25- and 0.5-mm undercut depths were designed and fabricated with SLM and a traditional lost wax casting method. Based on the manufacturing methods, abutment types, and undercut depths, the clasps were divided into eight groups (10 per group). The fitness accuracy of the clasps was evaluated by measuring the gap distance between the clasps and abutments using a silicone film method. The initial retentive force and changes in retention up to 7,200 insertion/removal cycles of the clasps were also measured. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, paired t-tests, and one-way ANOVA (α=0.05). Results For both the SLM and cast clasps, the fitness accuracy of the rest was greater than that of the clasp tip and shoulder. No significant difference was found in the fitness accuracy between the SLM and cast clasps, regardless of the abutment type and undercut depth before or after insertion/removal cycles (p>0.05). There was also no significant difference in the initial retentive force between the SLM and cast clasps (p>0.05). After 7,200 insertion/removal cycles, the SLM clasp exhibited a greater residual retentive force (p Conclusion The SLM technique for manufacturing the clasps of removable partial dentures has promising clinical applications.

Streptococcus pneumoniae coinfection is a major cause of mortality in influenza pandemics. Growing evidence shows that uncontrolled immune response results in severe tissue damage and thereby promotes death in coinfection. Progranulin (PGRN) is widely expressed in immune and epithelial cells and exerts anti-inflammatory role in many diseases. We found that PGRN levels were significantly elevated in clinical influenza/S. pneumoniae–coinfected patients. C57BL/6 wild-type (WT) and PGRN-deficient (PGRN−/−) mice were infected with influenza virus PR8 and then superchallenged with S. pneumoniae serotype 19F. Coinfected PGRN−/− mice showed increased mortality and weight loss compared with WT mice. PGRN deficiency led to increased bacterial loads in lungs without altering influenza virus replication, suggesting a role of PGRN in decreasing postinfluenza susceptibility to S. pneumoniae coinfection. Administration of recombinant PGRN improved survival of WT and PGRN−/− mice in lethal coinfection. Additionally, loss of PGRN resulted in aggravated lung damage along with massive proinflammatory cytokine production and immune cell infiltration during coinfection. Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) during influenza, and coinfection was strongly induced in PGRN−/− mice that subsequently activated apoptosis signaling pathways. Treatment of recombinant PGRN or inhibition of ERS by 4-phenylbutyrate decreased apoptosis and bacterial loads in lungs of coinfected mice. These results suggest that PGRN decreases postinfluenza susceptibility to S. pneumoniae coinfection via suppressing ERS-mediated apoptosis. Impaired bacterial clearance and increased lung inflammation are associated with the lethal outcome of coinfected PGRN−/− mice. Our study provides therapeutic implication of PGRN to reduce morbidity and mortality in influenza/S. pneumoniae coinfection.

Periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) are a promising tool for regenerative medicine in clinical periodontal ligament repair. However, clinical maintenance of high quality and large quantity of PDLSCs faces multiple obstacles. One of them is how PDLSCs respond to environmental stimuli such as reactive oxygen species. We aim to elucidate how PDLSCs react to oxidative stress and the underlying mechanisms. We utilized hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress to mimic ROS increase in rat PDLSCs. Our data indicated a rapid downregulation of a long non-coding RNA, lncRNA JHDM1D antisense 1 (JHDM1D-AS1), when PDLSCs were treated with hydrogen peroxide, which was negatively associated with PDLSC apoptosis. Moreover, our data showed that JHDM1D-AS1 regulated PDLSC apoptosis via inhibition of DNAJC10, a heat shock protein 40 family member. Moreover, overexpressed DNAJC10 inhibited Bcl-2 protein level and eIF2α phosphorylation level, which, in turn, contributed to PDLSC apoptosis. Our results revealed a protective role of JHDM1D-AS1 in ROS-induced apoptosis, and validated that JHDM1D-AS1/DNAJC10/phosphorylated-eIF2α/Bcl-2 pathway works as an anti-apoptotic signaling axis in PDLSCs.These findings will facilitate the in vitro culturing of PDLSCs for clinical usage and promote stem cell-based therapy for periodontal tissue regeneration.

Background Increasing evidence suggests that dysregulated long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in tumorigenesis and progression. RP11-284F21.9, one of the temporally expressed S-phase lncRNAs in cancer cells, was recently identified by nascent RNA capture sequencing. Methods Cal-27, Tca8113, SCC-9, HB56, and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tissues were used in the experiment. RNA extraction, qRT-PCR, plasmid construction, cell proliferation, EdU labeling, Transwell migration, luciferase reporter, and western blotting were used to investigate the exact role and function of RP11-284F21.9 in cancer. Results RP11-284F21.9 was upregulated in human OSCC samples and cell lines. RP11-284F21.9 depletion suppressed the proliferation, migration, and invasion of OSCC cell lines. There was interaction between RP11-284F21.9, miR-383-5p, and MAL2. Increased MAL2 and decreased miR-383-5p expression were also detected in OSCC tissues and cell lines. In addition, RP11-284F21.9 knockdown could reduce MAL2 expression, while miR-383-5p inhibitors abolished this repressive effect. RP11-284F21.9 acted as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) of miR-383-5p, leading to MAL2 upregulation, and subsequently promoted OSCC progression. Conclusion RP11-284F21.9/miR-383-5p represents a novel and potential therapeutic target for the treatment of OSCC.

The development of multiplex assays to simultaneously monitor multiclass chemical contaminants that commonly coexist in foods, such as heavy metal ions, antibiotics, and estrogen residues, is gaining attention. Here, a microfluidic chip (MC)-based multianalysis method coupled with magnetic encoded aptamer probes was used for simultaneous detection of kanamycin, 17β-estradiol, and lead ion (Pb2+). Using this innovative strategy, the magnetic bead (MB)-based encoded probes labeled with aptamer hybrid chains were first used to selectively capture multiple targets, followed by generating single-stranded primers. The primers triggered a multibranched hybridization chain reaction (mHCR). Finally, three kinds of complementary strands (C-DNAs) with different lengths were hybridized with the arms of the mHCR products to form three types of multibranched DNA nanostructures. The decrement signals of C-DNAs were employed for qualification of targets. As the signal tags corresponded to different targets, the DNA nanostructures realized "one target for the decrease of massive C-DNAs" to improve sensitivity. The use of MB-based encoded probes could achieve magnetic separation to eliminate interference in the complex. The detection limits of this method were 1.76 × 10-4 nM (kanamycin), 1.18 × 10-4 nM (17β-estradiol), and 1.29 × 10-4 nM (lead ion). Furthermore, the MC platform is reusable and can be used for more than 4000 samples. The assay combining the MC with MB-based encoded probes with multibranched DNA signal tags offers a universal, reusable, and high-throughput detection platform for screening multiclass chemical contaminants in food samples with complex matrices.

It's important to eliminate matrix interference for accurate detecting antibiotic residues in complex food samples. In this study, we designed a zero-backgrounded fluorescence aptasensor to achieve on-site detection of antibiotic residues, with chloramphenicol (CAP) as representative analyte. Moreover, a three stir-bars assisted target recycling system (TSBTR) was designed to achieve triple signal amplification and increase the sensitivity. The bars included one magnetic stir-bar modified with two kinds of long DNA chains, and two gold stir-bars modified with Y shape-duplex DNA probes respectively. In the presence of CAP, the target could recurrently react with the probes on the bars and replace a large amount of long DNA chains into supernatant. After then, the bars were taken out and SYBR green dye was added to the solution. The dye can specifically intercalate into the duplex structures of DNA chains to emit fluorescence while not emitting a signal in its free state. Under the optimized experimental conditions, a wide linear response range of 5 orders of magnitude from 0.001 ng mL−1 to 10 ng mL−1 was achieved with a detection limit of 0.033 pg mL−1 CAP. The assay was successfully employed to detect CAP in food samples (milk & fish) with consistent results with ELISA's. High selectivity and sensitivity were attributed to the zero background signal and triple signal-amplification strategy. All these ensure the platform to be rapid, cost-effective, easily-used, and is especially appropriate for detection antibiotics in food safety.

To detect trace level of tumor markers (TMs) plays a crucial role in the early diagnosis of cancer. However, the fabrication of assays to simultaneously detect trace levels of TMs was still challengeable. The study was aimed to develop a novel microchip electrophoresis (MC) and antibody-aptamer based hybrid detection strategy for simultaneous determination of prostate specific antigen (PSA), carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA) and carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125) in human serum. The assay comprises the generation of magnetic aptamer capture probes and anti-TMs labeled encoded signal tags, then employment of nicking enzyme for signal amplification. Firstly, the aptamers of TMs were co-immobilized on surface of Fe3O4@AuNPs (AuMPs) as capture probes. Simultaneously, the antibodies of TMs labeled with different double stranded DNA (dsDNA) as nicked fragment-induced strand was prepared as encoded signal tags. Secondly, the TMs, capture probes and encoded signal tags were simultaneously incubated to form sandwich complex. After magnetic separation, the complex was collected by adding the nicking enzyme. As a result, the dsDNA on the complex can initiate nicking enzyme cleavage reaction to produce many single stranded DNA (ssDNA) products with different length corresponding to different targets. Finally, the ssDNA products were injected into MC for separation and determination of TMs, respectively. Under optimized conditions, the assay can simultaneously detect three TMs with detection limits of 0.1, 0.15, 0.12 pg mL−1 for PSA, CEA and CA125, respectively (S/N = 3). Moreover, the magnetic aptamer probes exhibited good stability and can be reused for 20 times with the recovery above 80% after heat treatments. The multianalysis method exhibits distinct advantages such as high-throughput, -sensitivity, easy-to-operate and offers a powerful tool for early diagnosis of cancers.

Solid phase microextraction (SPME) Arrows with enlarged sorption phases and Arrow-shaped tips are good alternatives to classic SPME fibers. Developing SPME Arrows with functionalized coatings has become a growing area of SPME research. In this study, a zirconium metal organic framework/molybdenum disulfide (UiO-66/MoS2) composite coating modified SPME Arrow was developed and coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry for the headspace extraction and detection of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The coating preparation can be easily manipulated by the assembly strategy using silicone gels to adhere UiO-66/MoS2 powder onto the surface of the Arrows. The prepared UiO-66/MoS2 coated SPME Arrows exhibited clearly enhanced adsorption capacity (2.1–4.5 folds) and an improved degree of affinity to PAHs species when compared to commercial PDMS/CARS/DVB SPME Arrows or fibers. The improved mechanism may be due to the high specific area, hierarchical micropores and mesopores, and the largely increased and immobilized amount of UiO-66/MoS2 coating on the stainless-steel Arrow. This study aims to examine the impact of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) on pulmonary edema and explore the underlying molecular mechanisms. The effects of UDCA on pulmonary edema were assessed through hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, lung dry/wet (W/D) ratio, TNF-α/IL-1β levels of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), protein expression of epithelial sodium channel (ENaC), and Na+ /K+ -ATPase. Besides, the detailed mechanisms were explored in primary rat alveolar type (AT) II epithelial cells by determining the effects of BOC-2 (ALX [lipoxin A4 receptor] inhibitor), Rp-cAMP (cAMP inhibitor), LY294002 (PI3K inhibitor), and H89 (PKA inhibitor) on the therapeutic effects of UDCA against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced changes. Histological examination suggested that LPS-induced lung injury was obviously attenuated by UDCA. BALF TNF-α/IL-1β levels and lung W/D ratios were decreased by UDCA in LPS model rats. UDCA stimulated alveolar fluid clearance (AFC) though the upregulation of ENaC and Na+ /K+ -ATPase. BOC-2, Rp-cAMP, and LY294002 largely suppressed the therapeutic effects of UDCA. Significant attenuation of pulmonary edema and lung inflammation was revealed in LPS-challenged rats after the UDCA treatment. The therapeutic efficacy of UDCA against LPS was mainly achieved through the ALX/cAMP/PI3K pathway. Accurate and effective discrimination of E. coli and Shigella is an important clinical issue, and there are many limitations in traditional methods of analysis. FT-IR shows great potential in the classification of bacteria with high specificity and low cost. In this study, we evaluated the efficiency of this technique when combined with multivariate analysis for rapid classification of E. coli and Shigella, which is difficult using traditional analytical methods. Machine learning and statistical tools were employed in combination with FT-IR to classify 14 E. coli and 9 Shigella strains. The classification accuracies for select E. coli and Shigella strains from blood agar were 0.7826, 0.8696, and 0.9565 at the genus, species, and strain levels, respectively. In addition, we used the FT-IR data of select strains from three different culture media for cross-validation, yielding an accuracy of 0.3681 at the strain level. These results indicate that the bacterial culture conditions have a significant impact on the FT-IR patterns. Based on this, an improved strategy for training an ensemble classifier model considering bacterial culture factors was constructed, resulting in almost perfect separation with an accuracy of 0.9394 for strain-level classification. These results show the potential of FT-IR combined with multivariate analysis for more reliable bacterial classification.

For underwater vehicles with protrusions (external structure), the geometric shape of the protrusions is bound to affect the local flow field of the vehicles during the moving process of the vehicles, thus affecting the generation, development and collapse of cavitation around the vehicles. The cavitation may break, fall off and collapse randomly, and other local movements may affect the motion attitude of the underwater vehicle. It is an effective method to study fluid dynamics to simulate prototype cases with small scale models. In this paper, we mainly use the small scale model test method to explore the cavitation motion characteristics of the vehicle in water with protrusions. Through the establishment of a set of vehicle motion test equipment under reduced pressure, a series of experiments were conducted on this basis to explore the motion characteristics of vehicle cavitation under different bump shapes. In this study, two high-speed cameras were used to simultaneously record cavitation generation, development, collapse and other characteristics, to analyze the bubble generation mechanism and scale characteristics caused by the bulge, and then to study the influence of cavitation induced by the bulge on the motion attitude of the vehicle.
