- Abstract
Changing collective behaviour and supporting non-pharmaceutical interventions is an important component in mitigating virus transmission during a pandemic. In a large international collaboration (Study 1, N = 49,968 across 67 countries), we investigated self-reported factors associated with public health behaviours (e.g., spatial distancing and stricter hygiene) and endorsed public policy interventions (e.g., closing bars and restaurants) during the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic (April-May 2020). Respondents who reported identifying more strongly with their nation consistently reported greater engagement in public health behaviours and support for public health policies. Results were similar for representative and non-representative national samples. Study 2 (N = 42 countries) conceptually replicated the central finding using aggregate indices of national identity (obtained using the World Values Survey) and a measure of actual behaviour change during the pandemic (obtained from Google mobility reports). Higher levels of national identification prior to the pandemic predicted lower mobility during the early stage of the pandemic (r = −0.40). We discuss the potential implications of links between national identity, leadership, and public health for managing COVID-19 and future pandemics.

International audience; SummaryMaximizing phase modulation in photopolymers remains a challenge in order to use these materials to fabricate photonics devices. Different material compositions and irradiation conditions have been studied in order to achieve it. One of the main conclusions has been that with continuous laser exposure better results are achieved. However, our results show that higher phase modulation can be achieved using pulsed laser. The study has been done with crosslinked acrylamide based photopolymers and Holographic Polymer-Dispersed Liquid Crystals (H-PDLC) exposed with a pulsed laser (532 nm). The increment of the phase modulation between the pulsed laser and continuous laser exposition is 17%, achieving a maximum phase depth of 3π radians and a refractive index modulation of 0.0084 at the zero spatial frequency limit, where monomer diffusion does not take place. This opens the door to use this photopolymer in large scale manufacturing. In this sense, we have used the H-PDLC photopolymers material to fabricate tunable lenses by using the Laser Induced Forward Transfer (LIFT) technique. Using a laser of 1030 nm with a pulse duration of 250 fs and a power window very small (90mW), we have achieved to print for the first time micro-lenses of low absorbency photopolymer without using an absorption layer (DRL, or dynamic release layer, exclusively metallic). This DRL is used to absorb the laser energy and, when ejected, drives the polymer layer. It has been possible to print lenses on both on glass and ITO slides. On glass, the lens is 10 µm in diameter and 400 nm in height, compared to 15 µm and 350 nm achieved on ITO.AbstractThe fabrication of polymeric lens arrays for its use in wide-field visual systems is a challenge that is being addressed by using the Laser Induced Forward Transfer (LIFT) technique but in processes that require intermediate steps [ ], which slows down manufacturing time. Our goal is therefore to achieve one-step, adjustable laser printing process improving the overall printing quality. Another challenge when using tunable polymers is the customization of tunable focal lenses dynamically controlling their optical properties. In this work we address both aspects by using a tunable photopolymer thanks to liquid crystal molecules, such as H-PDLC [ ].In the first stage of the study, we check the behavior of photopolymers when exposed with a pulsed laser (532 nm). In particular, the effect of high-frequency irradiation has been proven in comparison with low-frequency in previous studies. The main conclusion is that with high frequencies, more than 20 kHz (period of 50 µs), higher phase depth values (until 3π) than the CW irradiations can be achieved with increments of up to a maximum of 17% and a refractive index modulation of until 0.0084. This is because the pulse off time is long enough to allow a high regeneration of the starting dye but not too long to avoid the reaction between growing polymer-chain and new free-radical, leading to higher polymerization rates. That means a good performance of these photopolymers when irradiated with pulsed laser. The use of the LIFT with polymers has a limitation since the polymer is not capable of absorbing the energy of the laser and, therefore, it cannot be ejected. That is why it is common to use an absorption layer (DRL, or dynamic release layer), which absorbs the laser energy and, when ejected, drives the polymer layer [ ].This DRL is often a problem as it can contaminate the top of the printed polymer with small ejected particles, affecting its optical performance. In this study, we show for the first time that it was possible to print a low absorbency photopolymer without DRL. For this we used a laser of 1030 nm, pulse duration between 250 fs, and a power window very small (90mW), as slightly higher power generates a splashing process that stains the surface. In addition, the distance between recipient and donor substrates should also be very small (20- 90 µm), so that the cavitation bubble touches the receiver, due to the high density and viscosity of the polymer it does not allow the formation of ink jets. It has been possible to print lenses on both on glass and ITO slides with lenses size of 10-15 µm in diameter and 350-400 nm in height.ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: The work was supported by the “Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación” of Spain (projects FIS2017-82919-R; PID2019-106601RB-I00), by the ‘‘Universidad de Alicante’’ (UATALENTO18-10; ACIE-20-10), and by Generalitat Valenciana (projects BEST/2021/021; IDIFEDER/2021/014, potential FEDER funding), and Marie Skłodowska Curie Postdoctoral Global Fellowship “FOCUSIS” grant agreement 844977.

- Abstract
At the beginning of 2020, COVID-19 became a global problem. Despite all the efforts to emphasize the relevance of preventive measures, not everyone adhered to them. Thus, learning more about the characteristics determining attitudinal and behavioral responses to the pandemic is crucial to improving future interventions. In this study, we applied machine learning on the multinational data collected by the International Collaboration on the Social and Moral Psychology of COVID-19 (N = 51,404) to test the predictive efficacy of constructs from social, moral, cognitive, and personality psychology, as well as socio-demographic factors, in the attitudinal and behavioral responses to the pandemic. The results point to several valuable insights. Internalized moral identity provided the most consistent predictive contribution-individuals perceiving moral traits as central to their self-concept reported higher adherence to preventive measures. Similar results were found for morality as cooperation, symbolized moral identity, self-control, open-mindedness, and collective narcissism, while the inverse relationship was evident for the endorsement of conspiracy theories. However, we also found a non-neglible variability in the explained variance and predictive contributions with respect to macro-level factors such as the pandemic stage or cultural region. Overall, the results underscore the importance of morality-related and contextual factors in understanding adherence to public health recommendations during the pandemic.

- Abstract
Rushed efforts for a decarbonisation of the energy sector in Catalonia, Spain have been received with local opposition towards renewable energy projects. It has also raised a debate around the new energy model and whether it will perpetuate the lack of agency of civil society in the energy sector as well as the vulnerable situation some people are currently facing. This thesis examines whether renewable energy cooperatives can contribute to a fair and inclusive decarbonisation of the Catalan energy sector. Framed by energy poverty theory, the analysis shows cooperatives are bringing innovative initiatives that, coupled with a behaviour based on values of cooperation, equality and inclusivity, among others, hold much potential for shifting the energy paradigm towards one where renewable energy is treated as an essential and public good. The thesis also reflects on the limitations and challenges cooperatives face in the fight against energy poverty and in renewable energy democratisation and decentralisation.

right heart failure ,CAVI ,tricuspid regurgitation - Abstract
BACKGROUND Severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is frequently associated with significant morbidity and mortality; such patients are often deemed to be at high surgical risk. Heterotopic bicaval stenting is an emerging, attractive transcatheter solution for these patients. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate the 30-day safety and 6-month efficacy outcomes of specifically designed bioprosthetic valves for the superior and inferior vena cava. METHODS TRICUS EURO (Safety and Efficacy of the TricValve (R) Transcatheter Bicaval Valves System in the Superior and Inferior Vena Cava in Patients With Severe Tricuspid Regurgitation) is a nonblinded, nonrandomized, single-arm, multicenter, prospective trial that enrolled patients from 12 European centers between December 2019 and February 2021. High-risk individuals with severe symptomatic TR despite optimal medical therapy were included. The primary endpoint was quality-of-life (QOL) improvement measured by Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire score and New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional dass improvement at 6-month follow-up. RESULTS Thirty-five patients (mean age 76 +/- 6.8 years, 83% women) were treated using the TricValve system. All patients at baseline were in NYHA functional class III or IV. At 30 days, procedural success was 94%, with no procedural deaths or conversions to surgery. A significant increase in QOL at 6 months follow-up was observed (baseline and 6-month Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire scores 42.01 +/- 22.3 and 59.7 +/- 23.6, respectively; P = 0.004), correlating with a significant improvement in NYHA functional class, with 79.4% of patients noted to be in functional class I or II at 6 months (P = 0.0006). The rates of 6-month all-cause mortality and heart failure hospitalization were 8.5% and 20%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS The dedicated bicaval system for treating severe symptomatic TR was associated with a high procedural success rate and significant improvements in both QOL and functional classification at 6 months follow-up. mitral valve disease (MVD) ,structural heart disease intervention (SHDI) ,percutaneous intervention ,mitral valve disease (MVPI) - Abstract
Background and Objectives Evidence regarding redo percutaneous interventions for recurrent mitral regurgitation is scarce. We ought to evaluate procedural and clinical outcomes of repeated edge-to-edge transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR) interventions. Methods This multicenter study collected individual data from eight high-volume TMVR Centers in Spain. Between 2012 and 2020, all patients undergoing a second edge-to-edge TMVR intervention (Redo) were included in the study. Results Among a total of 1028 procedures, 31 patients (3%) with residual MR >= 3 at follow-up underwent a second procedure (Redo). Redo intervention was mainly conducted between the first and second year after the first procedure. The most common cause of MR progression was partial detachment (46.7%) followed by LV remodeling (35.5%). Procedural success was achieved in 87% of cases. After a mean follow-up of 1.75 +/- 1.54 years, all-cause and cardiovascular mortality were 48.1% and 25%, respectively. Nearly half of the patients (48.1%) required at least one hospital admission for CHF within the follow-up period. However, most of the patients presented symptomatic improvement as depicted by an NYHA class

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) should be considered in patients with heart failure and secondary mitral regurgitation (MR). Angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitors (ARNIs) have been demonstrated to improve prognosis in heart failure. We aimed to evaluate the impact ARNIs on patient selection and outcomes.; METHODS: The population of the Spanish TEER prospective registry (March 2012 to January 2021) was divided into 2 groups: a) TEER before the ARNI era (n=450) and b) TEER after the recommendation of ARNIs by European Guidelines (n=639), with further analysis according to intake (n=52) or not (n=587) of ARNIs.; RESULTS: A total of 1089 consecutive patients underwent TEER for secondary MR. In the ARNI era, there was a reduction in left ventricle dilation (82mL vs 100mL, P=.025), and better function (35% vs 38%, P=.011). At 2 years of follow-up, mortality (10.6% vs 17.3%, P

INTRODUCTION:Caustic ingestion management could be improved with a diagnostic approach based on risk factors. This study aimed to develop an algorithm derived from predictive factors of a poor clinical course, to evaluate its diagnostic accuracy and resource consumption, and to compare it with 2 other approaches, a radiological one based on computed tomography and a classical one based on symptoms and endoscopy. METHODS:All patients older than 15 years presenting with caustic ingestion in our tertiary care hospital between 1995 and 2021 were prospectively included. Adverse outcome was defined as intensive care unit admission, emergency surgery, or death. Ingestion characteristics, symptoms, and laboratory and endoscopic findings were analyzed to determine the most relevant risk factors. Diagnostic accuracy and the number of examinations required were estimated and compared with the other 2 algorithms applied to our series. RESULTS:The sample included 532 cases of caustic ingestion, 13.2% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 10.3-16.0) of which had adverse outcomes. Volume and type of caustic substance; presence of symptoms and pharyngolaryngeal involvement; and neutrophilia, acidosis, and endoscopic injury were combined to develop an algorithm that would provide the highest diagnostic odds ratio (167.2; 95% CI: 71.9-388.7). Following this approach, half of the patients (50.6%; 95% CI: 46.2-55.1) would not require any examination and, overall, the need for endoscopy (20.0%; 95% CI: 16.4-23.5) and computed tomography (16.3%; 95% CI: 13.0-19.5) would be lower than that for the other 2 algorithms. DISCUSSION:A risk-based algorithm could improve caustic ingestion management by maintaining high diagnostic accuracy while reducing diagnostic test requirements.
