Aroma compounds in distillates obtained from Pellecchiella apricot (Prunus armeniaca, L. cv. Pellecchiella) and Annurca apple (Malus pumila L. cv. Annurca) were investigated by capillary GC, capillary GC-MS and Aroma Extract Dilution Analysis (AEDA) of directly injected samples. Fifty and forty-five volatiles were identified in the apricot and apple distillates, respectively. The aroma volatiles of the apricot distillate were characterized by a high concentration of alcohols and by a specific terpene profile that included linalool, ocimenol, α-terpineol, nerol, geraniol, cis and trans linalol oxide. γ-Decalactone, γ-dodecalactone, and ethyl cinnamate were also characteristic of the apricot distillate. The apple distillate exhibited a high concentration of esters and was characterized by the presence of farnesol, cis and trans α-farnesene, ethyl hexanoate, ethyl 9-decenoate, ethyl 3-methylbutanoate, guaiacol and (Z) 3-hexen-1-ol. In the case of apricot distillate, olfactometric analysis showed that volatile compounds, such as β-damascenone, ethyl 2-methylbutanoate, linalool, methyl anthranilate, ethyl cinnamate, γ-decalactone and γ-dodecalactone, which probably resulted from the original fruit, had a significant odor activity, while 2-phenylethanol was the main odor impact compound. The aroma profile of the apple distillate was mainly characterized by 2-phenylethanol, β-damascenone and ethyl 3- and ethyl 2-methylbutanoate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: The Standards of Care (SOC-8) by the World Professional Association for Trans Health provide guidelines for the care of transgender and gender diverse individuals through safe and effective multi-professional interventions for physical and mental well-being. The aim of this work is to summarize the SOC-8 recommendations for childhood and adolescence, highlighting the importance of psychosocial assessment and available medical and surgical therapeutic options, and emphasizing the need for healthcare provider training., Methods: The SOC-8 recommendations are based on scientific evidence and professional consensus from experts in transgender health, developing classification criteria and access to therapies, based on systematic literature reviews (PubMed and Embase)., Results: The SOC-8 underscores the importance of assessing and preserving gender identity, supporting prepubescent individuals from a psychosocial perspective, and ensuring adolescents access to medically and surgically conforming treatments according to local legislation. It is the responsibility of healthcare providers to understand and adapt international guidelines for an inclusive clinical practice of gender diversity., Discussion and Conclusions: Gender affirmation therapies in minors require comprehensive evaluation, parental involvement, and consideration of their cognitive and emotional maturity. Treatments should also focus on preserving fertility and accessing medicalized treatments which are beneficial to the well-being of transgender and gender diverse individuals.

Background: Sexuality research on the sexual practices of women who have sex with women (WSW) has thus far mostly centered on risk factors and addressed a limited number of practices, with a focus on oral sex and insertive vaginal sex., Aim: This study arises from the need to fill such a significant gap, which prevents researchers, clinicians, and policy makers from being adequately up-to-date on the sexual habits and tendencies of this population., Methods: A multiple-choice questionnaire was completed by 723 WSW with a mean (SD) age of 29.14 (6.94) years., Outcomes: The survey included closed questions on sexual practices, including genital and oral sex, but also nongenital sexual contact (petting and intercrural sex), anal sex, and kinky practices., Results: The most common sexual practices were self-masturbation (99.03%), oral sex (performed or received, 98.20%), and insertive genital sex (performed or received, 89.07%). Half of our sample had tried kinky practices at least once in a lifetime (51.31%). Respondents tended to experiment sexually more with stable partners rather than with casual ones. Comparisons among practices in the lesbian and bisexual population are presented., Clinical Implications: Providers should be aware that sexual orientations have their own specificities, including sexuality and practices, which should increase their knowledge and comfort in working with sexual minorities., Strengths and Limitations: The novel topic of the study addresses the gap in sexuality research among WSW. Strengths include the sex-positive approach, the inclusion of an array of sexual practices, and the consideration of the specificities of the group. Objectives: Therapeutic termination of pregnancy (TToP) may have psychiatric outcomes like depression, anxiety and post-traumatic-stress disorder (PTSD)., Material and Methods: 45 couples had psychiatric evaluation before TToP and after one-year period., Results: TToP is linked to acute development of depressive symptoms that recover with time and professional support. Twelve percent of women developed PTSD (but 29.5% refused one-year evaluation due to mental distress at recalling TToP). Background and Aims: The concept of "Food Addiction" has been based on criteria of Substance Use Disorder. Several studies suggested a relationship between food addiction and eating disorders, but little is known about its extent or role. We aim at exploring if food addiction is coincident with a specific eating disorder (binge eating disorder appears the closest) or it is a separate diagnostic entity that afflicts in comorbidity with eating disorders or other conditions like obesity or even in the general population., Methods: This systematic review and meta-analysis analyzed observational studies with a comparative estimation on rates of subjects affected by binge eating disorder and food addiction., Results: Binge eating disorder shows higher comorbidity with food addiction compared to other eating disorders (OR = 1.33, 95% CI, 0.64-2.76; c 2  = 4.42; p = 0.44;I 2  = 0%), or each eating disorder [anorexia nervosa purging type (OR = 1.93, 95% CI, 0.20-18.92; p = 0.57) and restrictive type (OR = 8.75, 95% CI, 1.08-70.70; p = 0.04)], obese patients (OR = 5.72, 95% CI, 3.25-10.09; p =  < 0.0001) and individuals from the general population (OR = 55.41, 95% CI, 8.16-376.10; c 2  = 18.50; p < 0.0001; I 2  = 0%)but has decreased prevalence when compared to bulimia nervosa (OR = 0.85, 95% CI, 0.33-2.22; c 2  = 0.35; p = 0.74; I 2  = 0%)., Discussion and Conclusions: Our data show that the prevalence of food addiction in binge eating disorder is higher than in other eating disorders except in bulimia nervosa. Moreover, it is a separate diagnostic reality and can be detected in people without mental illness and in the general population. The therapeutic termination of pregnancy (TToP) is an induced abortion following a diagnosis of medical necessity. TToP is applied to avoid the risk of substantial harm to the mother or in cases of fetal unviability. This type of induced abortion is provided after the second semester of gestation if fetal illness or the pregnancy cause physical danger or pathological mental distress to the mother. Socio-cultural and economic determinants could influence the desire for children and family planning in couples, as well as the use of effective contraception and the choice to perform an induced abortion. Also, pre-existing mental health problems could affect the decision between carrying on a problematic pregnancy or having TToP. Furthermore, the TToP is a reproductive event with an important traumatic burden, but also with an intrinsic therapeutic effect and it can produce different psychological and psychopathological effects on women and couples. The aim of this review is to evaluate what demographic, reproductive and psychopathological determinants are involved in the choice of undergoing a TToP in women. Delirium is a phenomenon classified within neuro-cognitive disorders in the DSM-5. It has several etiologies and it is often lethal. This contribute aims at analyzing clinical characteristics and diagnostic possibilities of delirium in patients affected by covid-19. Furthermore, some preliminary recommendations on the use of psychopharmacological treatment of delirium and their interactions with main drugs used to treat covid-19 are given, with a special attention to comorbidities like in immunocompromised patients, in those affected by diabetes and cancer, in pregnant women or in addicted clients.

Two vinification methods involving different degrees of antioxidant protection of Falanghina must during prefermentative steps, and referred as HAMP (high antioxidant must protection) and LAMP (low antioxidant must protection), were compared in terms of fermentation performances of four different yeast strains, composition of the volatile fraction of wines at the end of alcoholic fermentation, and shelf life of wines during storage. The use of HAMP technology resulted in wines with lower volatile acidity and higher concentrations of medium-chain fatty acid ethyl esters, acetates, and volatile fatty acids. For two of the four strains a lower concentration of isoamyl alcohol was also observed. HAMP wines also revealed increased shelf life because of the higher concentration of odor active esters at the end of storage and better preservation of varietal aromas.

The authors describe their therapeutical attitude as regards the thalamic fractures of heel, and distinguish two basic methods of surgical approach: reducing of thalamus and synthesis with only screws in the simple fractures; reducing of thalamus and restoration of the heel morphology by mtans of plate and screws in the complex fractures. They particularly report the satisfactory results got through the use of Lanzetta's plates, which, allowing a good reducting and a steady synthesis in the complex fractures also, permit an early mobilization.

Prompted by actual observation of one case, the authors call attention to this rare form of pericecal hernia. Fifteen patients suffering from osteoporosis of different aetiology and receiving long-term carbocalcitonin treatment were studied in order to evaluate the tolerance of the drug. Only one of these patients, with intolerance of any type of calcitonin, was obliged to discontinue the treatment, tolerance being excellent in all the others. Blood-chemistry tests, performed at various intervals, revealed no significant changes. Though not part of the specific aim of the study, antalgic efficacy tests yielded excellent results.

The authors report the results of intra- and peri-articular orgotein treatment in 30 arthritic patients. The patients were examined before, during and at the end of the course of treatment and showed substantial improvement. Negative and mediocre results were more frequent in cases of gonarthrosis. This finding may be accounted for by the severity of the articular situation in these patients, though orgotein treatment is also preferred in such cases, as it avoids iatrogenic damage. A 40-year-old woman with a history of injury to the left foot was initially treated for an ankle sprain. When the initial roentgenograms were reassessed, os peroneum fracture with diastasis was diagnosed. This may be the second case of fracture of the uncommon anomaly to be reported in the literature. A fracture of the os peroneum may be confused with ankle sprain. Only careful examination of serial roentgenograms may avoid an incorrect diagnosis and further complications.
