Abstract

Cellular senescence and fibrosis are two biological processes that are closely related to the development of many diseases. Cellular senescence can occur through mechanisms such as telomere shortening, DNA damage, and oxidative stress, leading to degradation of cell function and decreased ability to repair damage. More and more studies have shown that fibrosis and cell senescence are closely related, and cell senescence has been confirmed to be involved in the occurrence and development of scar fibrosis diseases. An in-depth understanding of the relationship between cellular senescence and scar fibrosis is helpful to find new therapeutic strategies and develop targeted drugs to reduce the process of scar fibrosis. Abstract

As the complexities of automotive systems increase, designing a system is a difficult task that cannot be done manually. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for weight minimization of wires used for connecting electronic devices in a system. The wire routing problem is formulated as a Steiner tree problem with capacity constraints, and the location of a Steiner vertex is selected for adding a splice connecting more than two wires. Besides wire routing, wire sizing is also done to satisfy resistance constraints and minimize the total wiring weight. Experimental results show the effectiveness and efficiency of our algorithm. Abstract

Carbohydrates are one of the most important food components, and their flexible and complex molecular structures make it difficult for existing experimental methods to obtain comprehensive and detailed information at the molecular level. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, as a theoretical computational method, have been widely used in the study of carbohydrates in recent years, providing information on the conformation as well as the driving force, binding energy and interaction site of intermolecular interactions, which is an effective supplement and deeper exploration of real experiments. This review introduced the definition, software, force field, methods, general processes and new approaches of MD simulations. Combined with research examples, it focused on the important role of MD simulations in the studies of carbohydrate conformation, aggregation and the effect of processing on carbohydrates, and elucidated the great potential in resolving the interaction mechanisms between carbohydrates and other components. It is expected to provide theoretical guidance for the in-depth analysis of the conformational relationships of carbohydrates and the expansion of their application efficiency. 77. 3D Lightweight Interconnected Melamine Foam Modified with Hollow CoFe2O4/MXene toward Efficient Microwave Absorption

Abstract

Considering the increasing severity of electromagnetic wave pollution, the development of high-performance low-filler-content microwave absorbers possessing wide frequency bands and strong absorption for practical applications is a demanding research hotspot. In this study, from the perspectives of the electromagnetic component coordination and structural design, a three-dimensional (3D) interconnected CoFe2O4/MXene-melamine foam (MF) was constructed via simple impregnation and a single freeze-drying step. By changing the absorber (CoFe2O4/MXene) concentration, the pore opening and electromagnetic properties of the 3D foams can be effectively adjusted. When the absorber concentration is sufficiently high to clog the internal pores, the microwave absorption is hindered. When the filler (CoFe2O4/MXene-MF) content is just ∼5.8 wt % (at a density of ∼33.3 mg cm–3), a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of −72.1 dB is achieved at a matching thickness of 3.32 mm, and an effective absorption bandwidth (4.54 GHz) covering the whole X band is achieved at a thickness of 3 mm. CoFe2O4/MXene-MF, which possesses a 3D porous electromagnetic network structure, optimizes impedance matching and enhances multiple polarization relaxations and reflections/scattering, resulting in superior absorption capabilities. In particular, the continuous network structure ensures the uniform distribution of electromagnetic fields in the microstructure, achieving high absorption at low filler contents. This work provides a reference for subsequent 3D absorber concentration studies and a novel engineering strategy for preparing a low-filler-content, lightweight, and efficient electromagnetic wave absorber, which could be applied in the fields of radar security and information communications.

Abstract

Rain removal is an important operation in intelligent visual surveillance systems. Many rain removal algorithms based on convolution neural networks (CNNs) are rarely deployed on resource constrained devices. One of the limiting factors is that memory access leads to high energy consumption. To reduce memory access during computation, previous works usually use a fixed computation pattern for different layers in CNN. For different and massive input and output feature maps, fixed computation pattern would lower the power efficiency. Thus, we propose a reconfigurable architecture to support different convolution mapping method. We use hybrid data reuse pattern to reduce energy consumption by 2.4–5.9 times over fixed computation pattern. The hardware is synthesized in the area of 9.83 mm2 at TSMC 65 nm technology and can restore a $1280 \times 720$ real world image in 0.57 s which achieves $56.1 \,\, \times $ and $2.1 \,\, \times $ speed-up comparing to CPU and GPU implementations. The simulation results show that the power efficiency is 287.7 GOPS/W running rain removal network.
