We map the kinematics of the inner (200 pc) narrow-line region (NLR) of the Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC 1068 using the instrument Near-infrared Integral Field Spectrograph and adaptive optics at the Gemini North telescope. Channel maps and position–velocity diagrams are presented at a spatial resolution of ∼= 8 pc and spectral resolution ∼5300 in the emission lines [Fe II] λ1.644 μm, H2 λ2.122 μm and Brγ. The [Fe II] emission line provides a better coverage of the NLR outflow than the previously used [O III] λ5007 emission line, extending beyond the area of the bipolar cone observed in Brγ and [O III]. This is mainly due to the contribution of the redshifted channels to the north-east of the nucleus, supporting its origin in a partial ionized zone with additional contribution from shocks of the outflowing gas with the galactic disc. We modelled the kinematics and geometry of the [Fe II] emitting gas finding good agreement with the data for outflow models with conical and lemniscate (or hourglass) geometry.We calculate a mass outflow rate of 1.9+2 −1 M yr−1 but a power for the outflow of only 0.08 per cent LBol. The molecular (H2) gas kinematics is completely distinct from that of [Fe II] and Brγ , showing radial expansion in an off-centred ∼100 pc radius ring in the galaxy plane. The expansion velocity decelerates from ≈200 km s−1 in the inner border of the ring to approximately zero at the outer border where our previous studies found a 10 Myr stellar population.

We present a revised measurement of themass of the central black hole (MBH ) in the Seyfert 1 galaxyNGC4151. The new stellar dynamical mass measurement is derived by applying an axisymmetric orbit-superposition code to nearinfrared integral field data obtained using adaptive optics with the Gemini Near-infrared Integral Field Spectrograph (NIFS).When our models attempt to fit both the NIFS kinematics and additional low spatial resolution kinematics, our results depend sensitively on how χ2 is computed—probably a consequence of complex bar kinematics that manifest immediately outside the nuclear region. The most robust results are obtained when only the high spatial resolution kinematic constraints in the nuclear region are included in the fit. Our best estimates for the black holemass and H-band mass-to-light ratio are MBH ∼ 3.76±1.15 × 107 M (1σ error) and ϒH ∼ 0.34±0.03 M /L (3σ error), respectively (the quoted errors reflect themodel uncertainties). Our black holemassmeasurement is consistent with estimates from both reverberation mapping (3.57+0.45 −0.37 × 107 M ) and gas kinematics (3.0+0.75 −2.2 × 107 M ; 1σ errors), and our best-fit mass-to-light ratio is consistent with the photometric estimate of ϒH = 0.4 ± 0.2 M /L . The NIFS kinematics give a central bulge velocity dispersion σc = 116 ± 3 kms−1, bringing this object slightly closer to the MBH–σ relation for quiescent galaxies. Although NGC 4151 is one of only a few Seyfert 1 galaxies in which it is possible to obtain a direct dynamical black hole mass measurement—and thus, an independent calibration of the reverberation mapping mass scale—the complex bar kinematics makes it less than ideally suited for this purpose.

We use near-infrared (near-IR) spectroscopic data from the inner few hundred parsecs of a sample of 47 active galaxies to investigate possible correlations between the stellar velocity dispersion (σ ), obtained from the fit of the K-band CO stellar absorption bands, and the gas velocity dispersion (σ), obtained from the fit of the emission-line profiles of [S III] λ0.953 μm, [Fe II] λ1.257 μm, [Fe II] λ1.644 μm and H2 λ2.122 μm. While no correlations with σ were found for H2 and [S III], a good correlation was found for the two [Fe II] emission lines, expressed by the linear fit σ = 95.4 ± 16.1 + (0.25 ± 0.08) × σ[Fe II]. Excluding barred objects from the sample, a better correlation is found between σ and σ[Fe II], with a correlation coefficient of R = 0.80 and fitted by the following relation: σ = 57.9 ± 23.5 + (0.42 ± 0.10) × σ[Fe II]. This correlation can be used to estimate σ in cases where it cannot be directly measured and the [Fe II] emission lines are present in the spectra, allowing us to obtain the mass of the supermassive black hole (SMBH) from the M•–σ relation. The scatter from a one-to-one relationship between σ and its value derived from σ[Fe II] using the equation above for our sample is 0.07 dex, which is smaller than that obtained in previous studies which use σ[O III] in the optical as a proxy for σ . The use of σ[Fe II] in the near-IR instead of σ[O III] in the optical is a valuable option for cases in which optical spectra are not available or are obscured, as in the case of many active galactic nuclei. The comparison between the SMBH masses obtained using the M•–σ relation in which σ was directly measured with those derived from σ[Fe II] reveals only a small average difference of ΔlogM• = 0.02 with a scatter of 0.32 dex for the complete sample and ΔlogM• = 0.00 with a scatter of 0.28 dex for a subsample excluding barred galaxies.

We have used observational spectroscopic data of star-forming regions compiled from the literature and photoionization models to analyse the neon ionic abundances obtained using both optical and mid-infrared emission lines. Comparing Ne++/H+ ionic abundances from distinct methods, we have found that, on average, the abundances obtained via infrared emission lines are higher than those obtained via optical lines, by a factor of 4. Photoionization models with abundance variations along the radius of the hypothetical nebula provide a possible explanation for a large part of the difference between ionic abundances via optical and infrared emission lines. The ionization correction factor (ICF) for the neon is obtained from direct determinations of ionic fractions using infrared emission lines. We derive a constant Ne/O ratio (log Ne/O ≈ −0.70) for a large range of metallicities, independently of the ICF used to compute the neon total abundance.

We report the first two-dimensional mapping of the stellar population and non-stellar continua within the inner 180 pc (radius) of NGC 1068 at a spatial resolution of 8 pc, using integral field spectroscopy in the near-infrared. We have applied the technique of spectral synthesis to data obtained with the instrument NIFS and the adaptive optics module ALTAIR at the Gemini North Telescope. Two episodes of recent star formation are found to dominate the stellar population contribution: the first occurred 300 Myr ago, extending over most of the nuclear region; the second occurred just 30 Myr ago, in a ring-like structure at ≈100 pc from the nucleus, where it is coincident with an expanding ring of H2 emission. Inside the ring, where a decrease in the stellar velocity dispersion is observed, the stellar population is dominated by the 300 Myr age component. In the inner 35 pc, the oldest age component (age ≥ 2 Gyr) dominates the mass, while the flux is dominated by blackbody components with temperatures in the range 700 K ≤ T ≤ 800 K which we attribute to the dusty torus. We also find some contribution from blackbody and power-law components beyond the nucleus which we attribute to dust emission and scattered light.

We present stellar and gaseous kinematics of the inner ≈350-pc radius of the Seyfert galaxy Mrk 1066 derived from J and Kl bands data obtained with the Gemini’s Near-Infrared Integral Field Spectrograph (NIFS) at a spatial resolution of ≈35 pc. The stellar velocity field is dominated by rotation in the galaxy plane but shows an S-shape distortion along the galaxy minor axis which seems to be due to an oval structure seen in an optical continuum image. Along this oval, between 170 and 280 pc from the nucleus we find a partial ring of low σ (≈50 km s-ˡ) attributed to an intermediate-age stellar population. The velocity dispersion of the stellar bulge (σ ≈ 90 km s-ˡ) implies a supermassive black hole mass of ≈5.4 × 10 6Mʘ. From measurements of the emission-line fluxes and profiles ([P II]λ1.1886 μm, [Fe II]λ1.2570 μm, Paβ and H2λ2.1218 μm), we have constructed maps for the gas centroid velocity, velocity dispersion as well as channel maps. The velocity fields for all emission lines are dominated by a similar rotation pattern to that observed for the stars, but are distorted by the presence of two structures: (i) a compact rotating disc with radius r ≈ 70 pc; (ii) outflows along the radio jet which is oriented approximately along the galaxy major axis. The compact rotating disc is more conspicuous in the H2 emitting gas, which presents the smallest σ values (≤70 km s-ˡ) and most clear rotation pattern, supporting a location in the galaxy plane. We estimate a gas mass for the disc of ~10 7Mʘ. The H2 kinematics further suggests that the nuclear disc is being fed by gas coming from the outer regions. The outflow is more conspicuous in the [Fe II] emitting gas, which presents the highest σ values (up to 150 km s-ˡ) and the highest blue and redshifts of up to 500 km s-ˡ, while the highest stellar rotation velocity is only ≈130 km s-ˡ. We estimate a mass-outflow rate in ionized gas of ≈6 × 10-²Mʘ yr-ˡ. The derived kinematics for the emitting gas is similar to that observed in previous studies supporting that the H2 is a tracer of the active galactic nucleus feeding and the [Fe II] of its feedback.

We have used theGeminiNear-Infrared Integral-Field Spectrograph to map the age distribution of the stellar population in the inner 400 pc of the Seyfert 2 galaxy Mrk 1157 (NGC 591), at a spatial resolution of 35 pc. We have performed wavelet and principal component analysis on the data in order to remove instrumental signatures. An old stellar population component (age > ~5 Gyr) is dominant within the inner ≈130 pc which we attribute to the galaxy bulge. Beyond this region, up to the borders of the observation field, young- to intermediate-age components (0.1–0.7 Gyr) dominate. As for Mrk 1066, previously studied by us, we find a spatial correlation between this intermediate-age component and a partial ring of low stellar velocity dispersion (σ*). Low-σ* nuclear rings have been observed in other active galaxies, and our results for Mrk 1157 and Mrk 1066 reveal that they are formed by intermediate-age stars. Such age is consistent with a scenario in which the origin of the low-σ* rings is a past event which triggered an inflow of gas and formed stars which still keep the colder kinematics of the gas from which they have formed. No evidence for the presence of an unresolved featureless continuum and hot dust component – as found in Mrk1066 – is found for Mrk 1157.

We have used the Gemini Near-infrared Integral Field Spectrograph (NIFS) to map the gas kinematics of the inner ~200 × 500 pc 2 of the Seyfert galaxy NGC4151 in the Z, J, H and K bands at a resolving power of ≥5000 and spatial resolution of ~8 pc. The ionized gas emission is most extended along the known ionization bi-cone at position angle PA = 60◦–240◦, but is observed also along its equatorial plane. This indicates that the active galactic nucleus (AGN) ionizes gas beyond the borders of the bi-cone, within a sphere with ≈1 arcsec radius around the nucleus. The ionized gas has three kinematic components: (1) one observed at the systemic velocity and interpreted as originating in the galactic disc; (2) one outflowing along the bicone, with line-of-sight velocities between −600 and 600 km s-ˡ and strongest emission at ±(100–300) km s-ˡ; and (3) another component due to the interaction of the radio jet with ambient gas. The radio jet (at PA = 75◦–255◦) is not aligned with the narrow-line region (NLR) and produces flux enhancements mostly observed at the systemic velocity, suggesting that the jet is launched close to the plane of the galaxy (approximately plane of the sky). The mass outflow rate, estimated to be ≈1Mʘ yr-ˡ along each cone, exceeds the inferred black hole accretion rate by a factor of ~100. This can be understood if the NLR is formed mostly by entrained gas from the circumnuclear interstellar medium by an outflow probably originating in the accretion disc. This flow represents feedback from the AGN, estimated to release a kinetic power of ˙E ≈ 2.4×10 41 erg s-ˡ,which is only ~0.3 per cent of the bolometric luminosity of the AGN. There is no evidence in our data for the gradual acceleration followed by gradual deceleration proposed by previous modelling of the [O III] emitting gas. Our data allow the possibility that the NLR clouds are accelerated close to the nucleus (within 0.1 arcsec, which corresponds to ≈7 pc at the galaxy) after which the flow moves at essentially constant velocity (≈600 km s-ˡ), being consistent with near-infrared emission arising predominantly from the interaction of the outflow with gas in the galactic disc. The molecular gas exhibits distinct kinematics relative to the ionized gas. Its emission arises in extended regions approximately perpendicular to the axis of the bi-cone and along the axis of the galaxy’s stellar bar, avoiding the innermost ionized regions. It does not show an outflowing component, being observed only at velocities very close to systemic, and is thus consistent with an origin in the galactic plane. This hot molecular gas may only be the tracer of a larger reservoir of colder gas which represents the AGN feeding.

We have used the Gemini Near-infrared Integral Field Spectrograph (NIFS) to map the emission-line intensity distributions and ratios in the narrow-line region (NLR) of the Seyfert galaxy NGC4151 in the Z, J, H and K bands at a resolving power ≥5000, covering the inner ≈200 × 300 pc of the galaxy at a spatial resolution of ≈8 pc. We present intensity distributions in 14 emission lines, which show three distinct behaviours. (1) Most of the ionized gas intensity distributions are extended to ≈100 pc from the nucleus along the region covered by the known biconical outflow (position angle, PA = 60/240◦, NE–SW), consistent with an origin in the outflow; while the recombination lines show intensity profiles which decrease with distance r from the nucleus as I ∝ r-ˡ, most of the forbidden lines present a flat intensity profile (I ∝ rº) or even increasing with distance from the nucleus towards the border of the NLR. (2) The H2 emission lines show completely distinct intensity distributions, which avoid the region of the bicone, extending from ≈10 to ≈60 pc from the nucleus approximately along the large-scale bar, almost perpendicular to the bicone axis. This morphology supports an origin for the H2-emitting gas in the galaxy plane. (3) The coronal lines show a steep intensity profile, described by I ∝ r-²; the emission is clearly resolved only in the case of [Si VII], consistent with an origin in the inner NLR. Using the line-ratio maps [Fe II] 1.644/1.257 and Pa β/Br γ , we obtain an average reddening of E(B − V) ≈ 0.5 along the NLR and E(B − V) ≥ 1 at the nucleus. Our line-ratio map [Fe II] 1.257 μm/[P II] 1.189 μm of the NLR of NGC4151 is the first such map of an extragalactic source. Together with the [Fe II]/Paβ map, these line ratios correlate with the radio intensity distribution, mapping the effects of shocks produced by the radio jet on the NLR. These shocks probably release the Fe locked in grains and produce an enhancement of the [Fe II] emission at ≈1 arcsec from the nucleus. At these regions, we obtain electron densities Ne ≈ 4000 cm-³ and temperatures Te ≈ 15 000K for the [Fe II]-emitting gas. For the H2-emitting gas, we obtain much lower temperatures of Texc ≈ 2100K and conclude that the gas is in thermal equilibrium. The heating necessary to excite the molecule may be due to X-rays escaping perpendicular to the cone (through the nuclear torus, if there is one) or to shocks probably produced by the accretion flow previously observed along the large-scale bar. The distinct intensity distributions and physical properties of the ionized and molecular gas, as well as their locations, the former along the outflowing cone, and the latter in the galaxy plane surrounding the nucleus, suggest that the H2-emitting gas traces the active galactic nuclei feeding, while the ionized gas traces its feedback.

We analyse two-dimensional near-infrared K-band spectra from the inner 660 × 315 pc² of the Seyfert galaxy NGC7582 obtained with the Gemini near-infrared spectrograph integral field unit at a spatial resolution of ≈50 pc and spectral resolving power R ≈ 5900. The nucleus harbours an unresolved source well reproduced by a blackbody of temperature T ≈ 1050 K, which we attribute to emission by circumnuclear dust located closer than 25 pc from the nucleus, with a total mass of ≈3 ×10−³ Mʘ. Surrounding the nucleus, we observe a ring of active star formation, apparently in the Galactic plane, with a radius of ≈190 pc, an age of ≈5Myr and a total mass of ionized gas of ≈3 × 10 6Mʘ. The radiation of the young stars in the ring accounts for at least 80 per cent of the ionization observed in the Brγ emitting gas, the remaining being due to the radiation emitted by the active nucleus. The stellar kinematics was derived using the CO absorption band at 2.29 μm and reveals: (i) a distorted rotation pattern in the radial velocity field with kinematic centre apparently displaced from the nuclear source by a few tens of parsec; (ii) a high-velocity dispersion in the bulge of σ = 170 km s-ˡ and (iii) a partial ring of σ = 50 km s-ˡ, located close to the Brγ emitting ring, but displaced by ≈50 pc towards the nucleus, interpreted as due to stars formed from cold gas in a previous burst of star formation. The kinematics of the ionized gas shows a similar rotation pattern to that of the stars, plus a blueshifted component with velocities ≥100 km s-ˡ interpreted as due to an outflow along the ionization cone, which was partially covered by our observations. The mass outflow rate in the ionized gas was estimated as ˙MHII ≈ 0.05Mʘ yr-ˡ, which is one order of magnitude larger than the accretion rate to the active galactic nuclei (AGN), indicating that the outflowing gas does not originate in the AGN, but is instead the circumnuclear gas from the host galaxy being pushed away by a nuclear outflow. The flux distribution and kinematics of the hot molecular gas, traced by the H2λ 2.22 μm emission line, suggest most of this gas is in the Galactic plane. An excess blueshift along PA ≈ −70◦, where a nuclear bar has been observed, can be interpreted as an inflow towards the nucleus. We thus conclude that the H2 kinematics traces the feeding of the AGN, while the ionized gas kinematics traces its feedback via the outflows. AnAGN–starburst connection in the nucleus ofNGC7582 is supported by the ratio between the mass accretion rate and the star formation rate in the circumnuclear region of ≈0.26 per cent, which is close to the expected relation between the mass of the supermassive black holes and that of the host galaxy bulge in galaxies (the Magorrian relation).

We have used a near-infrared (near-IR) nuclear spectrum (covering the Z, J, H, and K bands) of the nucleus of NGC 4151 obtained with the Gemini Near-Infrared Integral Field Spectrograph (NIFS) and adaptive optics, to isolate and constrain the properties of a near-IR unresolved nuclear source whose spectral signature is clearly present in our data. The near-IR spectrumwas combined with an optical spectrum obtained with the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph which was used to constrain the contribution of a power-law component. After subtraction of the power-law component, the near-IR continuum is well fitted by a blackbody function, with T = 1285 ± 50 K, which dominates the nuclear spectrum—within an aperture of radius 0".3—in the near-IR. We attribute the blackbody component to emission by a dusty structure, with hot dust mass MHD = (6.9 ± 1.5) × 10−4 Mʘ , not resolved by our observations, which provide only an upper limit for its distance from the nucleus of 4 pc. If the reddening derived for the narrow-line region also applies to the near-IR source, we obtain a temperature T = 1360±50 K and a mass MHD = (3.1±0.7)×10−4 Mʘ for the hot dust. This structure may be the inner wall of the dusty torus postulated by the unified model or the inner part of a dusty wind originating in the accretion disk.

Aims. We derive the age and metallicity of circumnuclear star formation regions (CNSFRs) located in the spiral galaxies NGC6951 and NGC1097 and investigate the cause of the very low equivalent widths of emission lines found for these regions. Methods. We used optical two-dimensional spectroscopic data obtained with Gemini GMOS-IFUs and a grid of photoionization models to derive the the metallicities and ages of CNSFRs. Results. We find star formation rates in the range 0.002–0.14 Mʘ yr-ˡ and oxygen abundance of 12 + log(O/H) ≈ 8.8 dex, similar to those of most metal-rich nebulae located in the inner region of galactic disks. Conclusions. We conclude that the very low emission-line equivalent widths observed in CNSFRs are caused by the “contamination” of the continuum by (1) contribution of the underlying bulge continuum combined with (2) contribution from previous episodes of star formation at the CNSFRs.

We present 2D stellar and gaseous kinematics of the inner ~ 130×180 pc² of the Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC4051 at a sampling of 4.5 pc, from near-infrared K-band spectroscopic observations obtained with the Gemini’s Near-infrared Integral Field Spectrograph (NIFS) operating with the ALTAIR adaptive optics module. We have used the CO absorption band heads around 2.3 μm to obtain the stellar kinematics which show the turnover of the rotation curve at only ≈ 55 pc from the nucleus, revealing a highly concentrated gravitational potential. The stellar velocity dispersion of the bulge is ≈ 60 km s-ˡ – implying on a nuclear black hole mass of ≈ 10 6 Mʘ – within which patches of lower velocity dispersion suggest the presence of regions of more recent star formation. From measurements of the emission-line profiles we have constructed 2D maps for the flux distributions, line ratios, radial velocities and gas velocity dispersions for the H2, HII and [Ca VIII] emitting gas. Each emission-line samples a distinct kinematics. The Brγ emission-line shows no rotation as well as no blueshifts or redshifts in excess of 30 km s-ˡ, and is thus not restricted to the galaxy plane. The [Ca VIII] coronal region is compact but resolved, extending over the inner 75 pc. It shows the highest blueshifts – of up to −250 km s-ˡ, and the highest velocity dispersions, interpreted as due to outflows from the active nucleus, supporting an origin close to the nucleus. Subtraction of the stellar velocity field from the gaseous velocity field has allowed us to isolate non-circular motions observed in the H2 emitting gas. The most conspicuous kinematic structures are two nuclear spiral arms – one observed in blueshift in the far side of the galaxy (to the north-east), and the other observed in redshift in the near side of the galaxy (to the south-west).We interpret these structures as inflows towards the nucleus, a result similar to those of previous studies in which we have found streaming motions along nuclear spirals in ionized gas using optical Integral Filed Unit (IFU) observations. We have calculated the mass inflow rate along the nuclear spiral arms, obtaining ˙MH2 ≈ 4×10−5 Mʘ yr-ˡ, a value ~ 100 times smaller than the accretion rate necessary to power the active nucleus. This can be understood as due to the fact that we are only seeing the hot ‘skin’ (the H2 emitting gas) of the total mass inflow rate, which is probably dominated by cold molecular gas. From the H2 emission-line ratios we conclude that X-ray heating can account for the observed emission, but the H2 λ2.1218 μm/Br γ line ratio suggests some contribution from shocks in localized regions close to the compact radio jet.

We report the discovery of gas streaming motions along nuclear spiral arms toward the LINER nucleus of the galaxyNGC 6951. The observations, obtained using theGMOS integral field spectrograph on the Gemini North telescope, yieldedmaps of the flux distributions and gas kinematics in the Hα, [NII] λ6584, and [S II] λλ6717, 6731 emission lines of the inner 7"; 15" of the galaxy. This region includes a circumnuclear star-forming ring with a radius of ~500 pc, a nuclear spiral inside the ring, and the LINER nucleus. The kinematics of the ionized gas is dominated by rotation, but subtraction of a kinematic model of a rotating exponential disk reveals deviations from circular rotation within the nuclear ring that can be attributed to (1) streaming motions along the nuclear spiral arms and (2) a bipolar outflow that seems to be associated with a nuclear jet. On the basis of the observed streaming velocities and geometry of the spiral arms, we estimate a mass inflow rate of ionized gas of ≈3 x 10 4 Mʘ yr-ˡ, which is on the order of the accretion rate necessary to power the LINER nucleus of NGC 6951. Similar streaming motions toward the nucleus of another galaxy with a LINER nucleus, NGC 1097, have been reported by our group in a previous paper. Taken together, these results support a scenario in which nuclear spirals are channels through which matter is transferred from galactic scales to the nuclear region to feed the supermassive black hole.

Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq We present an analysis of gas ionisation and kinematics for nine Red Geysers selected from the MaNGA (Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory) survey of SDSS-IV (Sloan Digital Sky Survey-IV) and observed with the GMOS (Gemini Multi-Object Spectrographs) integral field unit (IFU) from the Gemini North telescope. Red Geysers are quiescent galaxies with galactic scale ionised outflows, likely due to low-luminosity Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN). The GMOS-IFU observations were obtained for the nuclear region of these galaxies in the inner ∼1–3 kpc. The main goals of this work are the investigation of the gas ionisation source and the presence of biconical outflows originating in a precessing accretion disc in Red Geyser galaxies. The emission-line ratios suggest the presence of Seyfert/LINER (LowIonisation Nuclear Emission Region) nuclei in all sources. Two galaxies show Hα equivalent width (Hα EW) larger than 3 Å (indicative of AGN ionisation) within an aperture 2.5′′ of diameter (1.3–3.7 kpc at the distance of galaxies) for MaNGA data, while with the higher resolution GMOS data, four galaxies present Hα EW> 3 Å within an aperture equal to the angular resolution (0.3–0.9 kpc). For two objects with GMOS-IFU data, the Hα EW is lower than 3 Å but larger than 1.5 Å, most probably due to a faint AGN. The spatially resolved electron density maps show values between 100–3000 cm−3 and are consistent with those determined for the NLR (Narrow-Line Region) and outflows in other studies. The [N II]λ6583 emission-line profiles are asymmetrical for the six galaxies with extended emission, with blue wings on the redshifted side of the velocity field and red wings on the blueshifted side. A biconical outflow can cause these asymmetries. The large (MaNGA) and the nuclear scale (GMOS-IFU) gas velocity fields are misaligned, with a kinematic position angle difference between 12◦–60◦ determined using the FIT KINEMATICS PA method and 13◦–49◦ when calculated the mean value of radial profiles of the kinematic position angle. Furthermore, the variation of radial profiles of the kinematic position angle with distance from the nuclear region is continuous when we combine the values determined from the GMOS-IFU and MaNGA velocity fields. Besides that, the observed variation in the kinematic position angle is consistent with outflows originating in a precessing accretion disc as proposed for the Akira galaxy, the prototype of the Red Geyser class. Thus, our results support previous indications that the gas in Red Geysers is ionised by an AGN, at least in their central region, with the presence of outflows, likely originating in a precessing accretion disc. Apresentamos uma análise da ionização e da cinemática do gás para nove Red Geysers selecionadas do levantamento MaNGA (Mapping Near Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory) do SDSS-IV (Sloan Digital Sky Survey-IV) e observadas com a unidade de campo integral (IFUIntegral Field Unit) do GMOS (Gemini Multi-Object Spectrographs ) do telescópio Gemini Norte. As Red Geysers são galáxias quiescentes com outflows de gás ionizado vistos em escalas galácticas, provavelmente oriundos de núcleos galácticos ativos (AGN-Active Galactic Nuclei) de baixa luminosidade. As observações do GMOS-IFU foram obtidas para a região nuclear dessas galáxias no interior de ∼1–3 kpc. Os principais objetivos desse trabalho são investigar a fonte de ionização do gás e a presença de outflows bicônicos originados em um disco de acreção em precessão em galáxias Red Geysers. As razões das linhas de emissão sugerem a presença de núcleos Seyfert/LINER (Low- Ionisation Nuclear Emission Region) em todas as fontes. Duas galáxias mostram largura equivalente Hα (Hα EW) maior que 3 Å (indicativo de ionização por AGN) dentro de uma abertura de 2.5′′ de diâmetro (1.3–3.7 kpc à distância das galáxias) para os dados MaNGA, enquanto com os dados do GMOS de maior resolução, quatro galáxias apresentam Hα EW> 3 Å dentro de uma abertura igual à resolução angular (0.3–0.9 kpc). Para dois objetos com dados do GMOS-IFU, o valor de Hα EW é menor que 3 Å mas maior que 1.5 Å, provavelmente devido a um AGN fraco. Os mapas de densidade eletrônica resolvidos espacialmente mostram valores entre 100–3000 cm−3 e são consistentes com aqueles determinados para a NLR (Narrow-Line Region) e outflows em outros estudos. Os perfis da linha de emissão do [N II]λ6583 são assimétricos para as seis galáxias com emissão estendida, com asas azuis no lado em redshift do campo de velocidade e asas vermelhas no lado em blueshift. Um outflow bicônico pode causar essas assimetrias. Os campos de velocidade do gás em escala galáctica (MaNGA) e escala nuclear (GMOS-IFU) estão desalinhados, com uma diferença do ângulo de posição cinemático entre 12◦–60◦ determinada usando o método FIT KINEMATICS PA e entre 13◦–49◦ quando calculado o valor médio dos perfis radiais do ângulo de posição cinemático. Além disso, a variação dos perfis radiais do ângulo de posição cinemático com a distância ao núcleo é contínua quando combinamos os valores determinados a partir dos campos de velocidades do GMOS-IFU e do MaNGA. A variação observada no ângulo de posição cinemático é consistente com ventos originados em um disco de acreção em precessão como proposto para a galáxia Akira, o protótipo da classe de Red Geysers. Assim, nossos resultados corroboram os indicativos anteriores de que o gás em Red Geysers é ionizado por um AGN, pelo menos em sua região central, com a presença de outflows, provavelmente originados em um disco de acreção em precessão.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES The supermassive black holes at the centre of massive galaxies can influence their host evolution. During their active phase, the matter in the central parsecs of galaxies flows onto the blackhole creating an accretion disk and ultimately feeding the SMBH. The heated accretion disk releases energy to the surrounding medium in the form of radiation pressure, the so-called Quasar winds, or by relativistic jets of particles. Both these phenomena can push the gas clouds out of the central galaxy region up to kiloparsec scales. The gas outflows observed in different phases can influence the host galaxy. In this thesis, we analyse the gas kinematics in two samples of active galaxies. The first is the Seyfert sample composed of 6 nearby Seyfert galaxies observed with Gemini Near-infrared Integral Field Spectrograph in the J and K bands. We study the kinematics of the ionised gas, traced by Paβ and [FeII] emission lines, and molecular gas, traced by the H22.12µm, in these galaxies. By decomposing the emission-line profiles in distinct kinematic components, we identify ionised gas outflows in four galaxies and molecular outflows traced by distinct kinematic components in two. The mass outflow rates are in the range e 0.005−12.49Myr−1 and the kinetic powers of 1039−1042 ergs−1. We observe signatures of H2 streaming motions towards the centre in three galaxies, but they are not enough to feed the AGN at the current accretion rate. The second is the QSO sample composed of 18 type 2 quasars at z < 0.2 selected from the Quasar Feedback Survey galaxies, observed by the Very Large Telescope Multi-Unit Spectroscopic Explorer. We use the [OIII]5007 as a tracer of the ionised gas outflows. In this sample, we adopt a different analysis approach to identify and characterise the outflows. Multiple Gaussian curves are fitted to the [OIII] emission-line to reproduce the emission-line profile. From the modelled spectra, we derive theW80, the width of the line that contains 80 per cent of the emitted flux, and use this quantity as a proxy to identify the spaxels dominated by outflows as the ones with W80 > 600kms−1. From the 15 galaxies with detected [OIII]5007 emission lines, we identify ionised gas outflows in 13. The masses of ionised outflows are 104 −106M, corresponding to 10-100 per cent of the total mass of ionised gas. The mass outflow rates are in the rages 10−2−100 Myr−1 and the kinetic powers 1038 −1042 ergs−1. By comparing both samples with the literature, we see an increased scatter in the wind scaling relation. The kinetic coupling efficiencies are smaller than the values predicted for the coupling efficiencies in theoretical models. However, this does not imply that the outflows cannot suppress the star-formation in the host galaxy. Buracos negros supermassivos que residem no centro de galáxias massivas podem influenciar a evolução de suas galáxias hospedeiras. Durante sua fase ativa, a matéria presente no kiloparsec central das galáxias flui em direção ao buraco negro supermassivo criando um disco de acreção até alimentar o buraco negro supermassivo. O gás aquecido presente no disco de acreção libera energia para para o meio que o rodeia na forma de pressão de radiação, fenômeno chamado de ventos de Quasares, ou de jatos de partículas relativísticas. Ambos fenômenos podem empurrar nuvens de gás da região central das galáxias até distâncias de kiloparsecs. Outflows de gás, observado em diferentes fases do gás, podem influenciar a galáxia hospedeira. Nesta tese, analisamos a cinemática do gás em duas amostras de galáxias ativas. A primeira é a amostra de galáxias Seyfert composta por 6 galáxias Seyfert próximas observadas com o Near-infrared Integral Fields Spectrograph nas bandas J e K. Estudamos a cinemática do gás ionizado, traçado pelas linhas de emissão do Paβ e [FeII], e do gás molecular, traçado pela linha H22.12µm, nestas galáxias. Ao decompor os perfis das linhas de emissão em componentes cinemáticas distintas, identificamos outflows de gás ionizado em quatro galáxias e outflows de gás molecular emduas. As taxas de outflow estão entre 0.005 e 12.49Myr−1 que correspondem à potências cinéticas de 1039 −1042 ergs−1. Observamos assinaturas de movimentos da molécula do H2 emdireção ao centro em três galáxias, mas com massa insuficiente para para alimentar o núcleo ativo mantendo a taxa de acreção atual. A segunda é a amostra de QSOs composta por 18 quasares do tipo 2 com z < 0.2 selecionados a partir do Quasar Feedback Survey observados com oMulti-Unit Spectroscopic Explorer no Very Large Telescope. Usamos a linha de emissão [OIII]5007 como um traçador dos outflows de gás ionizado. Múltiplas componentes Gaussianas são ajustas à linha de emissão do [OIII] para reproduzir o perfil da linha de emissão. A partir do espectro modelado, derivamos a quantidade W80, a largura da linha que corresponde à 80% do fluxo emitido. UsamosW80 >600kms−1 como um limite para identificar os pixeis dominados por outflows. Das 15 galáxias que possuem a linha do [OIII]5007 detectada, identificamos outflows de gás ionizado em 13. As massas de outflows ionizados estão entre 104 e 106M, correspondendo de 10 à 100% da mass total de gás ionizado. As taxas de outflow estão entre 10−2 e 100Myr−1 e potências cinéticas entre 1038 e 1042 ergs−1. Ao comparar as duas amostras com a literatura, notamos um aumento no espalhamento na relação de escala dos outf lows. As eficiências de acoplamento cinéticas são menores do que os valores para a eficiência de acoplamento determinados em modelos teóricos. No entando, este resultado não implica que os outflows observados não podem suprimir a formação estelar na galáxia hospedeira.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES In this work, we revisit the problem of morphological classification of BCG galaxies, in order to identify the characteristic signatures of cD-class galaxies. For this, we analyze the r-band surface brightness distributions from the SDSS survey of a sample of 339 BCG galaxies, visually classified by Zhao; Aragón-Salamanca; Conselice (2015). By means of a modeling of the brightness distribution via a Sérsic profile fit, we obtained the residual flux ratio RFF and rotational asymmetry A. In the plane logRFF − η with η = RFF − A, we characterize three families of BCGs (“envelopes”, “transition” and “elliptical" conventional). Analyzing the radial profiles of ellipticity, position angle and brightness of isophots of representative objects, wefindthat the visual classification has no direct correspondence with the families identified in the log RFF−ηplane. Thelightprofilesofthe“envelopes”family are generally consistent with the occurrence of an external structural component described by an exponential law. Objects in the transition family resemble those of the “envelopes” class, except that they show less unequivocal signs of the presence of the envelope and more frequently show signs that the envelope is under development. The typical ellipticities of the different families identified in the logRFF − η plane are compatible with other estimates made in the literature, but the galaxies visually classified as ellipticals are much more circular, suggestive of a classification bias. Furthermore, the logarithmic slope of the radial brightness profiles of galaxies visually classified as cD but which are in the region of the elliptic galaxies in the logRFF −η diagram is almost identical to that shown by cD galaxies as a whole, so these galaxies are compatible with the morphological class D. This suggests that the visual classification is sensitive mainly to the logarithmic slope of the brightness profiles and not to the presence of an external envelope, thus confusing a galaxy D with a galaxy cD. These results show that visual inspection classifications are subject to at least two sources of bias that contaminate samples of cD galaxies, with impacts both on the demography and on studies on the formation and evolution of these objects. Neste trabalho, revisitamos o problema da classificação morfológica de galáxias BCG, visando identificar as assinaturas características das galáxias da classe cD. Para isso, analisamos as distribuições de brilho superficial na banda r do levantamento SDSS de uma amostra de 339 galáxias BCG, classificadas visualmente por Zhao; Aragón-Salamanca; Conselice (2015). A partir de uma modelagem da distribuição de brilho via ajuste de perfil de Sérsic, obtivemos a razão de fluxo residual RFF e a assimetria rotacional A. No espaço de parâmetros logRFF −η com η = RFF −A,caracterizamos três famílias de BCGs (“envelopes”, “transição” e “elípticas” convencionais). Analisando os perfis radiais de elipticidade, ângulo de posição e brilho das isofotas de objetos representativos, encontramos que a classificação visual não tem correspondência direta com as famílias que identificamos no plano logRFF − η. Os perfis de brilho radial da família “envelopes” são em geral consistentes com a ocorrência de um componente estrutural externo descrito por uma lei exponencial. Objetos na família de transição se assemelham aos da classe “envelopes”, exceto pelo fato de apresentarem sinais menos inequívocos da presença do envelope e apresentarem, mais frequentemente, sinais de que o envelope está em processo de desenvolvimento. As elipticidades típicas das diferentes famílias identificadas no plano logRFF −η são compatíveis com outras estimativas realizadas na literatura, mas as galáxias classificadas visualmente como elípticas são muito mais circulares, sugestivo de um viés de classificação. Além disso, o slope logarítmico dos perfis de brilho radiais das galáxias classif icadas visualmente como cD mas que estão na região das elípticas no diagrama logRFF −η é indistinguível daquele mostrado pelas galáxias cD como um todo, de forma que essas galáxias são compatíveis com a classe morfológica D. Isso sugere que a classificação visual seja sensível principalmente ao slope logarítmico dos perfis de brilho e não à presença de um envelope estendido, confundindo assim uma galáxia D com uma galáxia cD. Esses resultados mostram que classificações baseadas em inspeção visual estão sujeitas a no mínimo duas fontes de viés que contaminam amostras de galáxias cD, com impactos tanto na demografia quanto nos estudos sobre a formação e evolução desses objetos.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES In the current paradigm nuclear activity in a galaxy happens when the central Supermassive Black Hole (SMBH) is being fed by an accretion disk of gas. The spectral signature of the accretion disk is the presence of broad double-peaked Balmer emission lines, as seen in the optical spectra from the AGN of the galaxy Pictor A. In this work it is presented a dataset of 18 spectroscopic observations corresponding to a 12 year monitoring of the Ha double-peak profile of the Pictor A galaxy, with the goal of studying the variability of the profile in short and long time scales. For this purpose, measurements were performed in the double-peak profile using the IFSCUBE software, which indicated that variations of the integrated flux of the broad line occur in short time scales, on the order of 40 days, and also that significant variations in the relative intensity of the red and blue sides of the profile occurs on time scales of years. The physical scenario proposed to explain the observed variations is a scenario in which the doublepeaked profile originates in an accretion disk with Keplerian and relativistic orbits, is inclined with respect to the plane of sky, and has an axially asymmetric surface emissivity with a radius of maximum emissivity. In order to make the theoretical time scales of the accretion disk to agree with the observed time scales of variability of the double-peaked profile, it is required that the gas in the disk orbits a SMBH with a mass of M 2 108M . In this scenario the physical extent of the line emitting region is in the range from 6–48 light-days. No paradigma atual a atividade nuclear em galáxias acontece quando o Buraco Negro Supermassivo (SMBH) central está sendo alimentado por um disco de acreção de gás. A assinatura espectral do disco de acreção é a presença de linhas largas da série de Balmer em duplo-pico, como pode ser visto nos espectros óticos do AGN da galáxia Pictor A. Neste trabalho é apresentado um conjunto de dados de 18 observações espectroscópicas correspondente a um monitoramento realizado ao longo de 12 anos para o perfil em duplo-pico de Ha da galáxia Pictor A, com o objetivo de estudar a variabilidade do perfil em curta e longa escalas de tempo. Para este fim, foram realizadas medidas no perfil em duplo-pico utilizando do software IFSCUBE, que indicaram que variações do fluxo integrado da linha larga acontecem em escalas de tempo curta, da ordem de 40 dias, e também que variações significativas nas intensidades relativas do lado vermelho e azul do perfil acontecem em escalas de tempo de anos. O cenário físico proposto para explicar as variações observadas é o cenário em que o perfil em duplo-pico se origina em um disco de acreção com órbitas Keplerianas e relativísticas, inclinado em relação ao plano do céu, e com emissividade superficial axialmente assimétrica com um raio de máxima emissividade. Para que as escalas de tempo teóricas do disco de acreção estejam de acordo com as escalas de tempo de variação observadas para o perfil em duplo-pico é necessário que o gás no disco orbite um SMBH com uma massa de M 2 108M . Neste cenário a extensão física da região emissora da linha se estende de 6–48 dia-luz.

Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq We use the J and K spectroscopic observations of the inner 350 pc of the Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC1125 to investigate the kinematic structure of the hot molecular ( 2000 K) and ionized gas, as well as of the stars. The spectroscopic data have been obtained from the Gemini North telescope, using the NIFS instrument, and have a spatial resolution of approximately 80 pc and a spectral resolution of 50 km s�����1. The stellar kinematics was obtained from the fitting of CO absorption bands at 2.3 m and the stellar velocity field shows a rotation pattern well reproduced by a disk model. The gas excitation and kinematics were studied from the fitting of the [Fe II], [P II], H2 and H recombination emission lines, by a Gauss-Hermite series and by Gaussian functions. The excitation of the H2 and [Fe II] emission lines is possibly due to shocks and due the radiation field from the the active nucleus. The velocity field of the molecular gas is dominated by a rotation component in the galaxy’s plane, similar to that of the stars, while the ionized gas also shows a bipolar outflow, with velocities of 150 kms�����1. This outflow interacts with the gas in the disk, producing a hot molecular gas outflow, seen only in the galaxy’s nucleus. The masses of the hot molecular and ionized gases in the outflow are 45 M and 4.3 104 M , respectively. These values correspond to about 32% of all the ionized gas and 15% of the hot molecular gas present in the central region of the galaxy. Assuming a biconical geometry, we estimate an outflow rate in ionized gas of _Mout 6.0 10�����3 M /yr�����1 and a kinectic power of _Ekin 4.5 1038 erg s�����1, indicating that the observed outflows of NGC1125 are not powerful enough to impact the star formation in the host galaxy, but can be efficient to redistribute the gas in its central region. Utilizamos observações espectroscópicas nas bandas J e K dos 350 pc centrais da galáxia NGC1125 para investigar a estrutura e cinemática do gás molecular quente ( 2000 K) e ionizado, bem como das estrelas. Os dados espectroscópicos foram obtidos com o Telescópio Gemini Norte, utilizando o instrumento NIFS, que possui uma resolução espacial de cerca de 80 pc e resolução espectral de aproximadamente 50 km s1. A cinemática estelar foi obtida a partir dos ajustes das bandas de absorção do CO em 2.3 m e o campo de velocidades estelar apresenta um padrão de rotação que é bem reproduzido por um modelo de disco em rotação. A cinemática e a excitação do gás foram estudadas a partir do ajuste das linhas de emissão do [Fe II], [P II], H2 e de recombinação do hidrogênio a partir de séries de Gauss-Hermite e funções gaussianas. As linhas de emissão do H2 e [Fe II] são produzidas possivelmente pela excitação do gás por choques e pela radiação do núcleo ativo (do tipo Seyfert 2). O campo de velocidades do gás molecular é dominado por uma componente de rotação no plano da galáxia, semelhante à observada para as estrelas, enquanto que o gás ionizado apresenta também uma componente devida a um outflow bipolar, com velocidade de 150 kms1. Esse outflow interage com o gás do disco, produzindo também um outflow de gás molecular quente, visto somente no núcleo da galáxia. As massas de gás molecular quente e ionizado no outflow são 45 M e 4.3 104 M , respectivamente. Esses valores correspondem a cerca de 32% de todo o gás ionizado e 15% do gás molecular quente presente na região central da galáxia. Assumindo uma geometria bicônica, determinamos uma taxa de outflow de gás ionizado de _Mout 6.0 103 M /ano e uma potência cinética do outflow de _Ekin 4.5 1038 erg s1, indicando que os outflows observados em NGC1125 não são potentes o suficiente para afetar a formação estelar da galáxia hospedeira, mas podem ser eficientes em redistribuir o gás na região central da galáxia. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES This work presents the process of making a pipeline for the reduction of longslit spectroscopic data, acquired with the GMOS instrument of the Gemini Observatory as part of the optical follow-up of kilonovae candidates. The data was acquired as part of an international effort for the detection of the electromagnetic counterpart signal from mergers between compact objects, detected over the third cycle of operations of the LIGO and Virgo observatories. The observations aim to answer some of the open questions on the nature of this kind of event. A fast reduction of the acquired data is extremely important for a quick classification and observation of the early moments after the merger. The pipeline presented here was built on a Pyraf environment, joining Python functions with data reduction commands from the GEMINI IRAF package, to establish an automated reduction process, therefore decreasing the total amount of time for the operation. To guarantee the good quality of the automatic processes, diagnostic figures are made, allowing the identification and correction of eventual problems. The pipeline operated in the reduction of the data acquired by the GMOS during the observation of four candidates to the optical counterpart of the event S200115j, detected in gravitational waves on January 15, 2020. The methods presented in this work were able to establish a homogeneous reduction of this data set, substantially decreasing the total amount of time for the analysis of the observed candidates. The transients did not present the expected spectral features of kilonovae, being related to supernova emissions. Although the observed transients were not confirmed as the optical counterpart of the gravitational wave event, the excellent performance of the pipeline places it as a promising tool for the reduction of forthcoming spectroscopic data from optical follow-up programs with the Gemini/GMOS. Neste trabalho, é apresentada a construção de um pipeline para a redução de dados espectroscópicos no modo fenda longa, obtidos com o instrumento GMOS do Observatório Gemini durante o acompanhamento ótico de candidatos a sinais gerados por eventos de quilonova. Estes dados foram obtidos como parte de um esforço internacional para a observação da contraparte eletromagnética de eventos de colisão entre objetos compactos, detectados durante o terceiro ciclo de operações dos detectores LIGO e Virgo. Estas observações buscam responder as perguntas em aberto sobre a natureza de eventos deste tipo, sendo a rápida redução dos dados obtidos extremamente importante para uma ágil classificação e observação dos momentos iniciais após a colisão. O pipeline apresentado neste trabalho foi construído em um ambiente Pyraf, unindo funções em linguagem Python com comandos de redução de dados do pacote GEMINI IRAF, com o objetivo de estabelecer um processo de redução automatizado e, assim, diminuir o tempo total da operação. Para garantir a qualidade dos processos automáticos, figuras intermediárias de diagnóstico são produzidas, permitindo a identificação e correção de eventuais problemas. O pipeline atuou na redução dos dados obtidos pelo GMOS durante a observação de quatro candidatos à contraparte ótica do evento S200115j, detectado em ondas gravitacionais no dia 15 de Janeiro de 2020. Os métodos apresentados neste trabalho foram capazes de estabelecer uma redução homogênea deste conjunto de dados, diminuindo de maneira considerável o tempo total para a análise dos candidatos observados. Os transientes observados não apresentaram as características espectrais esperadas em quilonovas, sendo relacionados à emissões de supernovas. Embora os transientes observados não tenham sido confirmados como a contrapartida ótica do evento detectado em ondas gravitacionais, o excelente desempenho do pipeline a torna uma ferramenta promissora para redução de futuros dados espectroscópicos oriundos de programas de acompanhamento óticos de quilonovas com o Gemini/GMOS.

It is believed that most spheroidal galaxies host a Supermassive Black Hole (SMBH) at their centers and that, at some point, it becomes active, originating an Active Galaxy Nuclei (AGN). The formation and evolution of the galaxy may be directly linked to the growth of SMBH and AGN feedback. In this context, detailed studies on the kinematics and distribution of ionized gas in the central region of the AGN are fundamental to investigate the processes of Feeding and Feedback and their impact on the evolution of galaxies. In this work, we present a detailed analysis of the kinematics of the ionized gas and stars from the inner region at 170 pc of the active galaxy NGC 4546. The main goal of this work is to detect and characterize non-circular motions associated with ionized gas outflows from the AGN. The observations were made with the Gemini Multi-Object Spectrograph (GMOS) in integral field unit (IFU) mode, with a spec- tral coverage of 4736–6806 Å, covering the strongest emission lines observed in AGN spectra. The stellar kinematics was measured by fitting the absorption lines using the penalized Pixel Fitting method (PPXF) using the MILES stellar library as template. The distribution of emis- sion line fluxes and kinematics were measured by fitting the emission-line profiles of the data cube after subtracting the stellar component, using the profit (line-profile fitting) routine. We find that stellar and ionized gas kinematics are dominated by a rotating disk component and that both structures are rotating in opposite directions. The gas kinematics also reveals non-circular motions, interpreted as originating from a biconic outflow produced by the central AGN of NGC 4546. We estimate a value of ∼0.068 MⓈ yr−1 for the ionized gas outflow rate and a kinetic power (E˙cin) of the outflow equivalent to 1.12×1039 erg s−1, which corresponds to only 0.013 % of the AGN bolometric luminosity. Therefore, we find that the E˙cin of the outflow is not high enough to affect the star formation of the galaxy in large scale. This type of AGN Feedback is called as maintenance mode, in which the velocity of the outflows is not high enough to escape the galaxy boundaries, but they can still be efficient in redistributing the gas in its central region. Acredita-se que a maioria das galáxias esferoidais hospedam um Buraco Negro Supermassivo (SMBH) em seu centro e que, em algum momento da sua vida, tenha se tornado ativo, ori- ginando um Núcleo Ativo de Galáxia (AGN). A formação e evolução da galáxia pode estar diretamente ligada ao crescimento do SMBH e ao feedback do AGN. Neste contexto, estudos detalhados sobre a cinemática e distribuição do gás ionizado na região central do AGN são fun- damentais para investigar os processos de feeding e feedback e seu impacto sobre a evolução das galáxias. Neste trabalho, apresentamos uma análise detalhada sobre a cinemática do gás ionizado e das estrelas da região interna a 170 pc da galáxia ativa NGC 4546. O objetivo geral deste trabalho é detectar e caracterizar movimentos não-circulares associados a outflows de gás ionizado a partir do AGN. As observações foram realizadas com o Gemini Multi-Object Spec- trograph (GMOS) no modo de unidade de campo integral (IFU), com cobertura espectral de 4736-6806 Å, cobrindo as linhas de emissão mais intensas observadas em espectros de AGNs. A cinemática estelar foi medida através do ajuste das linhas de absorção utilizando o método penalized Pixel Fitting (PPXF) usando como template a biblioteca estelar MILES. A distribuição de fluxos de linhas de emissão e cinemática do gás foram medidas a partir do ajustes dos perfis das linhas de emissão do cubo de dados após a subtração da componente estelar, utilizando a rotina PROFIT (line-PROfile FITting). Encontramos que a cinemática estelar e do gás ionizado é dominada por uma componente de disco em rotação e que ambas as estruturas estão girando em sentidos contrários. A cinemática do gás também revela movimentos não-circulares, inter- pretados como originados por um outflow em formato bicônico devido ao AGN de NGC 4546. Estimamos um valor de ∼ 0, 068 MⓈ yr−1 para a taxa de outflow de gás ionizado e uma po- tência cinética (E˙cin) do outflow equivalente a 1, 12 × 1039 erg s−1, que corresponde a somente 0,013 % da luminosidade bolométrica do AGN. Portanto, verificamos que a E˙cin do outflow não é suficiente para influenciar a formação estelar da galáxia em grande escala. Este tipo de feed- back de AGN é chamado de modo de manutenção, no qual os outflows não possuem velocidade suficiente para escapar dos limites da galáxia, porém podem ser eficientes em redistribuir o gás em sua região central.

The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) is one of these surveys and comprehend subprojects like the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA). The MaNGA project aims to map 10 thousand nearby galaxies in order to better understand the phenomena behind the formation and evolution of these objects. The project also uses another XXI century innovation: the integral field spectroscopy. This type of spectroscopy, unlike the others, allows the analysis of specific regions of the observed object. One of these regions is the galactic nucleus, which in some galaxies present a huge luminosity that cannot be explained only by considering the stellar continuum. In these cases, the nucleus is said active (AGN: Active Galactic Nuclei) and its high energy emission is attributed to the process of matter accretion through a supermassive black hole located in the center of the galaxy. Depending on the physical and spectral features, an AGN may be classified in different types. The active galaxies observed by the MaNGA project are, mostly, LINER and Seyfert galaxies. The matter accretion process may lead to AGN feedback, such as ionized gas outflows. Feedback is responsible for controlling the growth and evolution of galaxies, interfering in the star formation and in the host galaxy kinematics. These processes can reach kiloparsec scales. In the present work, the kinematics of active and non-active galaxies is analysed in order to detect ionized gas outflows and estimate their power and extensions. A spectral fitting was done using the GANDALF code and kinematics profiles in terms of effective radius were elaborated. The main sample is composed by 170 AGN selected from the MaNGA project and was separated into subsamples based on the galaxies’ luminosity and morphology. A sample of control galaxies was also defined so that the main properties of these objects are similar to that of the AGN. By analysing the global profiles, it can be noticed that, on average, the most luminous AGN present higher residual velocities and velocity dispersions than their respective control galaxies in all the radial bins considered (0.2 ≤ R ≤ 1.0Re). Besides that, the mean outflow extension is smaller than that of the narrow line regions (NLR): outflows presented an extension of around 40% of the effective radius, while the NLR displayed 70%. However, the extensive NLR tend to host the biggest outflows. Regarding ionized gas ejection rates, the values vary between 10−4 and 10−2 M� yr−1. Similarly, the kinetic power is low, going from 1035 to 1039 erg s−1. These results suggest that AGN outflows are not powerful enough to affect the kinematics and the evolution of their respective hosts galaxies, in spite of being detect in the sample’s galaxies. Com o final do século XX, grandes projetos de levantamento de dados astronômicos tiveram início, impulsionados pelo desenvolvimento de telescópios potentes. Um desses projetos é o Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), que compreende vários subprogramas, como o Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory (MaNGA). Esse projeto pretende mapear 10 mil galáxias próximas para esclarecer os fenômenos que propiciam a evolução e a formação desses objetos. O projeto MaNGA utiliza ainda outra novidade do século XXI: a espectroscopia de campo integral. Este tipo de espectroscopia, diferentemente dos demais, permite que sejam analisadas regiões específicas do objeto observado. Uma destas regiões é o núcleo galáctico, que, em algumas situações, apresenta uma grande luminosidade que não pode ser justificada apenas pelo contínuo estelar. Nestes casos, o núcleo é dito ativo (AGN: do inglês, Active Galactic Nuclei) e atribui-se sua alta emissão de energia ao processo de acreção de matéria por um buraco negro supermassivo localizado no centro da galáxia. Dependendo das suas características físicas e espectrais, um AGN pode ser classificado em vários tipos. As galáxias ativas que foram observadas pelo MaNGA são, em sua maioria, do tipo LINER e galáxias Seyfert. O processo de acreção de matéria pode acarretar em feedback de AGN, como outflows de gás ionizado por exemplo. O feedback é responsável por controlar o crescimento e evolução das galáxias, interferindo na formação estelar e também na cinemática da galáxia hospedeira em extensões bastante variadas, que podem alcançar escalas de kiloparsec. Neste trabalho, é analisada a cinemática de galáxias ativas e não-ativas a fim de detectar outflows de gás ionizado e estimar suas potências e extensões. Para isso, foi realizado um ajuste espectral com o auxílio do código GANDALF e elaborou-se perfis cinemáticos, dados em termos de raio efetivo. A amostra principal é composta por 170 AGN selecionados do projeto MaNGA. Definiu-se também uma amostra de galáxias de controle, cujas principais propriedades assemelham-se às das galáxias de núcleo ativo, e subamostras de AGN, baseadas na luminosidade e na morfologia das mesmas. Através da análise dos perfis globais destas amostras, verifica-se que, em média, os AGN mais luminosos apresentam velocidades e dispersão de velocidades residuais maiores que as suas respectivas galáxias de controle em todos os anéis radiais considerados (0.2 ≤ R ≤ 1.0Re). Além disso, a extensão média dos outflows são menores do que a da região de linhas estreitas (NLR) dos AGN: enquanto que a extensão dos primeiros corresponde a aproximadamente 40% do raio efetivo, as últimas alcançam 70%. No entanto, as maiores NLR tendem a apresentar os outflows mais extensos. Quanto às taxas de ejeção de gás ionizado, os valores variam entre 10−4 e 10−2 M� ano−1. Semelhantemente, a potência cinética também é baixa, indo de 1035 a 1039 erg s−1. Estes resultados indicam que, apesar de serem detectados nas galáxias ativas da amostra, os outflows de AGN não são potentes a ponto de influenciar na cinemática e na evolução das suas respectivas galáxias hospedeiras.

Several studies suggest that, because they are in a privileged halo location, such objects are subject to evolutionary processes distinct from those that operate in non-central galaxies. Such mechanisms, however, are misunderstood, particularly as regards their impact on the development of central galaxies baryonic (gas and star) content. In this work, we investigate the physical characteristics of a sample of central galaxies extracted from the SPIDER catalog in function of both the halo mass and the stellar mass of the galaxy, in order to obtain information that allows us to set up a plausible scenario for the formation and evolution of these galaxies. In order to obtain information about the stellar populations of the studied galaxies, we combine the optical spectra of the SDSS survey in halo mass bins and velocity dispersion and use the STARLIGHT code. The reliability of the results was tested by comparing them with samples of mock spectra with different characteristics. To identify the presence of ionized gas, we measured the equivalent width of Ha by Gaussian fits. We find that the extinction AV , the equivalent width of Ha and the contribution of a power law increase as the halo mass increases and the velocity dispersion of the central galaxy decreases. Mean stellar ages have opposite behavior, becoming lower in these same regimes. Mean stellar metallicity is higher as halo mass and velocity dispersion increase. These relationships, however, are quite sensitive to the basis used in the synthesis of stellar populations. The dependence of the equivalent width of Ha with the masses of the galaxy and the halo is, together with the extinction AV , well described by a scenario in which cold gas deposition in a central galaxy is regulated by competition between feedback of the nuclear activity of the central galaxy and the cooling of the intracluster gas, assuming the Bondi accretion model. Thus, ICM gas cooling must be necessary to describe the stellar formation history of a central galaxy. However, given the low equivalent widths of Ha observed, this mechanism is possibly not dominant. Galáxias centrais de halos massivos de matéria escura, geralmente de morfologia esferoidal, apresentam propriedades físicas distintas de galáxias esferoidais não centrais com massa comparável. Diversos estudos sugerem que, por estarem em um local privilegiado do halo, tais objetos estão sujeitos a processos evolutivos distintos daqueles que atuam em galáxias não centrais. Tais mecanismos, no entanto, são pouco conhecidos, em particular quanto ao seu impacto no desenvolvimento do conteúdo bariônico (gás e estrelas) das galáxias centrais. Neste trabalho, investigamos as características físicas de uma amostra de galáxias centrais extraídas do catálogo SPIDER em função tanto da massa do halo quanto da massa estelar da galáxia, a fim de obter informações que permitam montar um cenário plausível para a formação e evolução dessas galáxias. Para obter informações das populações estelares das galáxias estudadas, combinamos os espectros óticos do levantamento SDSS em bins de massa do halo e dispersão de velocidades e utilizamos o código STARLIGHT. A confiabilidade dos resultados foi testada confrontando-os com amostras de espectros simulados com diferentes características. Para identificar a presença de gás ionizado, medimos a largura equivalente da linha Ha por ajuste de gaussianas. Encontramos que a extinção AV , a largura equivalente de Ha e a contribuição de uma lei de potência aumentam conforme aumenta a massa do halo e diminui a dispersão de velocidades da galáxia central. As idades estelares médias apresentam comportamento oposto, se tornando mais baixas nesses mesmos regimes. Já a metalicidade estelar média é maior quanto maior for a massa do halo e a dispersão de velocidades. Essas relações, no entanto, são bastante sensíveis à base utilizada na síntese de populações estelares. A dependência da largura equivalente de Ha com as massas da galáxia e do halo é, juntamente com a extinção AV , bem descrita por um cenário no qual o depósito de gás frio em uma galáxia central é regulado pela competição entre feedback da atividade nuclear da galáxia central e o resfriamento do gás intra-aglomerado, assumindo-se o modelo de acreção de Bondi. Dessa forma, o resfriamento do gás do ICM deve ser necessário pra descrever o histórico de formação estelar de uma central. Porém, dadas as baixas larguras equivalentes de Ha observadas, esse mecanismo possivelmente não é dominante.

Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq The energy coming from Active Nuclei of Galaxies (AGN) is attributed to the process of accretion of matter to a central Supermassive Black Hole (SMBH). The gases that flow towards the center of the galaxies (inflows of gas) can give rise to AGN but may also represent the accumulation of matter in the central region necessary to trigger star formation on scales of hundreds of parsecs. This work presents a study on the circumnuclear star formation for the Seyfert 1 Mrk 42 galaxy and a characterization of the dust emission in the nucleus of a sample of 15 Seyfert galaxies, in this way, relates intrinsic processes of AGN with properties of star formation regions. We use near-infrared spectroscopy data (J, H and K-band), obtained with the Near Infrared Integral Field Spectrograph (NIFS) installed on the Gemini North telescope. The Mrk 42 galaxy shows a ring of star-forming regions around the nucleus with a radius of ≈300 pc, clearly observed in the flux distributions of the infrared emission lines. Two main scenarios were proposed for the star formation rings in galaxies: the pop corn scenario, where material arriving in the central region is accumulated in the ring and forms stellar clusters at random positions without a sequence of ages and the pearls on the string scenario, for which the gas accumulates in the ring forming regions of high densities and there is movement of the star formation along the ring, observing a sequence of ages for the formed regions. Based on measurements for the equivalent width of Br we found evidence of age gradients for the star formation regions along the ring of Mrk 42, favoring the pearls on a string scenario. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the broad component of the Pa emission line measured in the nuclear spectrum is ∼1 480 kms−1, implying a mass of ≈ 2, 5 × 106 M⊙ for the central SMBH. Based on the ratios of emission lines we conclude that besides the active galactic nucleus, Mrk 42 has stellar formation activity in the nucleus. The kinematics of the gas are dominated by rotation in the plane of the galaxy, being well reproduced by a rotating disk model. However, for the central region (internal to the ring) we observe an additional component, probably originated by outflows of the AGN. In order to study the emission of nuclear dust from Seyferts galaxies, we fitted the nuclear continuum to 15 Seyferts galaxies from observations in the J and K bands. From the fits we obtain the contribution due to the components of law of power and black body function, attributed to the emission of accretion disk and the toroid of dust, respectively. We obtained values for the temperature ranging from 800 to 1 350 K and we derive masses of hot dust between 3,19×10−4 to 5,38×10−1 M⊙. There is a small tendency to have a larger number of Seyfert 1 galaxies with higher values for the hot dust than in Seyfert 2 galaxies. A correlation between the AGN bolometric luminosity and the hot dust mass, indicating that the AGN is responsible for heating the dust. The sample used to study the emission of dust is small and should be complemented in future works, as well as a better comparison with results of the literature is necessary. Escoamentos de gás em direção ao centro das galáxias (Inflows de gás) podem originar o AGN, mas também podem representar o acúmulo de matéria na região central necessário para desencadear a formação estelar em escalas de centenas de parsecs. Este trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre a formação estelar circumnuclear para a galáxia Seyfert 1 Mrk 42 e uma caracterização da emissão de poeira no núcleo de uma amostra de 15 galáxias Seyferts, dessa forma relaciona processos intrínsecos do AGN com propriedades de regiões de formação estelar. Foram utilizados dados de espectroscopia de campo integral no infravermelho próximo (bandas J, H e K), obtidos com o instrumento NIFS (Near-infrared Integral Field Spectrograph) instalado no telescópio Gemini Norte. A galáxia Mrk 42 apresenta um anel de regiões de formação estelar em torno do núcleo com raio de ≈300 pc, claramente observado nas distribuições de fluxos das linhas de emissão do infravermelho. Dois cenários principais foram propostos para a formação de anéis de formação estelar em galáxias: o cenário pop corn, onde o material que chega na região central é acumulado no anel e forma aglomerados estelares em posições aleatórias sem uma sequência de idades e o pearls on a string, para o qual o gás se acumula no anel formando regiões de densidades elevadas e há movimento da formação estelar ao longo do anel, observando-se uma sequência de idades para as regiões formadas. Baseado em medidas para a largura equivalente de Br encontramos evidências de gradientes de idades para as regiões de formação estelar ao longo do anel de Mrk 42, favorecendo o cenário pearls on a string. A largura a meia altura (FWHM) da componente larga da linha de emissão do Pa medida no espectro nuclear é ≈1 480 kms−1, implicando em uma massa de ≈ 2, 5 × 106 M⊙ para o SMBH central. Com base nas razões de linhas de emissão, concluímos que além do núcleo galáctico ativo, Mrk 42 apresenta atividade de formação estelar no núcleo. A cinemática do gás é dominada por rotação no plano da galáxia, sendo bem reproduzida por um modelo de disco em rotação. Entretanto, para a região central (interna ao anel) observa-se uma componente adicional provavelmente originada por outflows do AGN. Com o objetivo de estudar a emissão de poeira nuclear de galáxias Seyferts, ajustamos o contínuo nuclear para 15 galáxias Seyferts a partir de observações nas bandas J e K. A partir dos ajustes obtemos a contribuição devido as componentes de lei de potência e função de corpo negro, atribuídas a emissão do disco de acreção e ao toroide de poeira, respectivamente. Obtivemos valores para a temperatura que vai de 800 e 1 350 K e derivamos massas de poeira quente entre 3,19×10−4 a 5,38×10−1 M⊙. Observa-se uma pequena tendência de que haja um número maior de galáxias Seyferts 1 com maiores valores para a massa de poeira quente do que em galáxias Seyferts 2. Observa-se uma correlação entre a luminosidade bolométrica do AGN e a massa de poeira quente, indicando que o AGN é o agente responsável pelo aquecimento da poeira. A amostra utilizada para estudar a emissão de poeira é pequena e deverá ser complementada em trabalhos futuros, assim como uma melhor comparação com resultados da literatura se faz necessária.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Active galaxies exhibit a great luminosity in central region that can not be explained only by the emission of the stars of the galaxy, but by the presence of an active galactic nucleus (AGN). In this scenario, gravitational potential energy is transformed into light energy during accretion of matter by a supermassive black hole on the so-called accretion disk, which is surrounded by a torus of gas and dust. The gas outflows are generated by the accretion disk and can be observed in the narrow-line region. Outflows can have an important impact on the host galaxy of the active nucleus. In this work, we have analyzed the impact of AGN feedback on the gas kinematics of a sample of 62 active galaxies. For this we have compared the kinematics of the active galaxy with two inactive galaxies that present the same characteristics of the host galaxy of the active nucleus, in other words, the same stellar mass, redshift, morphology and inclination. The sample of inactive galaxies (controls) have 109 galaxies. The objects of our sample were observed with integral field spectroscopy by the 2.5 meter Sloan telescope within the MaNGA survey that is part of SDSS-IV. We have performed the fitting of the galaxies observed spectra using the Gas AND Absorption Line Fitting routine, and have obtained the stellar and gas velocities fields , velocity dispersion and gas emission. Through the velocity fields we have determined the kinematic position angle (PA), in order to study the impact of AGN feedback on a galactic scale. We used the stellar velocity and gas dispersion to analyze the outflows on a smaller scale 2kpc. Comparing the difference between the PA orientation of the stellar velocity fields and the gas for the two samples, we found no clear difference between the distributions. On the other hand, the AGNs have greater difference in the fractional velocity dispersion sf rac between the gas and the stars when compared with controls. The mean value of sf rac for AGNs and controls is < sfrac >AGN= 0:04 and < sfrac >CTR= �����0:23, respectively. Therefore, sf rac may be indicative of the presence of AGN. In addition, we found a positive correlation between the [O III]l5007 luminosity and sf rac for our sample. Our main conclusion in this work is that the outflows observed for the AGNs of our sample are not intense to interfere with the kinematics of the host galaxy on a large scale, but they have an important contribution on 2kpc scale. Galáxias ativas apresentam uma grande luminosidade na região central que não pode ser explicada apenas pela emissão das estrelas da galáxia, mas sim pela presença de um núcleo ativo (AGN). Nesse cenário, a energia potencial gravitacional é transformada em energia luminosa durante a acreção de matéria por um buraco negro supermassivo, no chamado disco de acreção, que está cercado por um toroide de gás e poeira. Os outflows de gás que são gerados pelo disco de acreção podem ser observados na região de linhas estreitas. Os outflows podem ter um importante impacto na galáxia hospedeira do núcleo ativo. Neste trabalho analisamos o impacto do feedback do AGN na cinemática do gás de uma amostra de 62 galáxias ativas. Para isso comparamos a cinemática da galáxia ativa com duas galáxias inativas que apresentam as mesmas características da galáxia hospedeira do núcleo ativo, ou seja, mesma massa estelar, redshift, morfologia e inclinação. A amostra de galáxias inativas (controles) têm 109 galáxias. Os objetos da nossa amostra foram observados com espectroscopia de campo integral pelo telescópio Sloan de 2.5 metros dentro do MaNGA survey que faz parte do SDSS-IV. Realizamos o ajuste dos espectros das galáxias observadas usando a rotina Gas AND Absorption Line Fitting, obtendo dessa forma campos velocidades estelares e do gás, dispersão de velocidades e a emissão do gás. Através dos campos de velocidades determinamos o ângulo de posição (PA) cinemático, com o objetivo de estudar o impacto do feedback do AGN em uma escala galáctica. Usamos a dispersão de velocidades estelar e do gás para analisar os outflows em uma escala menor 2kpc. Ao comparar a diferença entre a orientação do PA dos campos de velocidades estelares e do gás para as duas amostras, nós não encontramos nenhuma diferença clara entre as distribuições. Por outro lado, os AGNs têm maior diferença de dispersão de velocidades fracional sf rac entre o gás e as estrelas quando comparados com os controles. Sendo que o valor médio de sf rac para AGNs e controles é < sfrac >AGN= 0:04 e < sfrac >CTR= 0:23, respectivamente. Logo, sf rac pode ser um indicativo da presença de AGN. Além disso, achamos uma correlação positiva entre a luminosidade do [O III]l5007 e sf rac para nossa amostra. A nossa principal conclusão nessa trabalho é que os outflows observados para os AGNs da nossa amostra não são intensos para interferir na cinemática da galáxia hospedeira em uma larga escala, mas apresentam uma contribuição importante em uma escala de 2kpc.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES We present a multiwavelength study of galaxies that host OH Megamaser emission. We used integral field unit spectroscopic data obtained with the GMOS-IFU instrument, radio data obtained with VLA and HST data for IRASF23199+0123 and IRAS03056+2034. From this data we are able to obtain information about gas dynamics and excitation in the galaxies IRASF23199+0123 and IRAS03056+2034. The main goals of this work are the identification of the central engine that ionizes the gas in these objects e propose a scenario in order to justify the OH megamaser emission. The observations of IRASF23199+0123 allow us to show that this system is formed by two interacting galaxies, in which the eastern member (IRAS23199E) presents two OH Megamaser emission hosts and the two members present extended radio emission in 3 and 20cm with the peak at the nucleus. The IFU spectroscopic data covers the inner region of IRAS23199E with 6 kpc and 2.3kpc of resolution. The flux maps constructed from this data reveal three extranuclear regions that are attributed to star forming complexes. We discovered a Seyfert 1 nucleus in IRAS23199E, due to the detection of a broad component, in the H emission-line from the BLR. Besides, the gas kinematics analysis suggests the presence of non circular motions that could be associated to the presence of outflows from the nucleus and inflows in its vicinity. The data analysis for IRAS03056+2034 does not indicate morphological evidence of interactions with other galaxies, but indicates several star forming regions along the spiral arms. The comparison between GMOS-IFU and HST observations allows the identification of a circumnuclear star forming ring. We built diagnostic diagrams that in addiction with the brightness temperature value and spectral index allow us to conclude that the gas excitation is due to not only to Starburst but also due to the presence of an AGN. The analysis of the gas kinematics suggests the presence of inflows towards to the nucleus, and coincident to the position of a patchy spiral arms that is observed in the HST image. Apresentamos um estudo multicomprimento de onda de galáxias com emissão megamaser de OH. São apresentados dados ópticos de espectroscopia de campo integral obtidos com o instrumento GMOS-IFU, dados rádio obtidos com o radiointerferômetro VLA e dados obtidos com o HST. A partir destes dados foi possível obter informações acerca da dinâmica e excitação do gás nas galáxias IRASF23199+0123 e IRAS03056+2034. Os objetivos que norteiam este trabalho são a identificação do mecanismo central de ionização do gás nesses objetos e propor um cenário capaz de justificar a presença de emissão de megamaser de OH. As observações da galáxia IRASF23199+0123 permitiram mostrar que este sistema é formado por duas galáxias em interação, sendo que no membro leste (IRAS23199E) foram detectadas duas fontes de emissão de megamasers de OH e os dois membros apresentam emissão rádio estendida em 3 e 20cm com pico no núcleo. Os dados ópticos de espectroscopia de campo integral cobrem uma região no interior de IRAS23199E com 6 kpc e com resolução de 2.3 kpc. Os mapas de fluxo construídos a partir desses dados evidenciaram três regiões com emissão extranuclear que foram atribuídas a complexos de formação estelar. Descobrimos a presença de um núcleo Seyfert 1, devido a detecção de uma componente larga, na linha de emissão de H proveniente da BLR. Além disso, a análise da cinemática do gás sugere a presença de movimentos não circulares que podem estar associados a presença de outflows provenientes do núcleo e inflow em sua vizinhança. A análise dos dados obtidos para IRAS03056+2034 não indica evidências morfológicas de interação com outras galáxias, mas indica diversas regiões de formação estelar ao longo dos braços espirais. A comparação dos dados obtidos com o instrumento GMOS-IFU e o HST permitiram identificar um anel de regiões de formação estelar circumnuclear. Foram construídos diagramas de diagnóstico que junto com o cálculo da temperatura de brilho e do índice espectral nos permitem concluir que a excitação do gás não se deve apenas a um Starburst, mas também a presença de um AGN. A análise da cinemática do gás sugere a presença de inflows em direção ao núcleo, coincidentes com a posição de um braço espiral descontínuo que é observado em uma imagem obtida com o HST.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES In this thesis we make use of the NJL model to the study and description of the QCD phase diagrams under different regimes of temperature, density and external magnetic fields. In our first work we study the influence of the application of an external magnetic field in the diquark condensation formation, and in the BEC-BCS crossover, in a system with two color degrees of freedom. We have dedicated special attention to the regularization of divergent integrals, and to the comparation with the smooth form factors scheme. We observe that the correct separation of the magnetic contributions is crucial to the correct description of the system, without nonphysical oscillations in the order parameters. In a second work we have studied a system with chiral imbalance, and we have shown that a method that can extract all medium contributions from divergent integrals before the regularization can explain why the well stablished chiral models such as NJL fails in the description of the behavior of the critical temperature for the chiral symmetry restoration with the increase of the chiral chemical potential m5, recently obtained by lattice QCD simulations. Furthermore we present a way to cure the problem, using a method that we call Medium Separation Scheme (MSS). Lastly, in our third work we came back to the study of BEC-BCS crossover, in a more realistic model, with three colors and including the color neutrality contidion, making use of an approximation that capture effects beyond mean field, the Optimized Perturbation Theory (OPT). We saw that the using of OPT in the case with neutrality require that the ratio between diquark and scalar coupling constants, Gd=Gs increase considerably to the BEC phase exists, and consequently the BEC-BCS crossover, when comparing with the Large Nc (or mean field) usual approximation. Nesta tese utilizamos o modelo de Nambu–Jona-Lasinio NJL para o estudo e descrição do diagrama de fases da Cromodinâmica Quântica (QCD) em diferentes regimes de temperatura, densidade e campos magnéticos externos. Em um primeiro trabalho estudamos a influência da aplicação de um campo magnético externo na formação do condensado de diquarks e no crossover BEC-BCS em um sistema com dois graus de liberdade de cor. Dedicamos atenção especial à regularização das integrais divergentes e à comparação com o método dos fatores de forma suaves. Vimos que a correta separação da contribuição magnética é crucial para a correta descrição do sistema, sem que haja oscilações não-físicas nos parâmetros de ordem. Em um segundo trabalho estudamos um sistema com desbalanceamento quiral, e mostramos que um método que extrai todas as contribuições de meio das integrais divergentes antes de regularizálas consegue explicar o porquê de modelos quirais tão bem estabelecidos como o NJL falharem em descrever o comportamento da temperatura crítica de restauração da simetria quiral com o aumento do potencial químico quiral m5, obtido recentemente por simulações de QCD na rede. Além disso apresentamos uma maneira de sanar este problema, utilizando o método que chamamos “Esquema de Separação dos Termos de Meio” (MSS). Por fim, no terceiro trabalho retornamos ao estudo do crossover BEC-BCS utilizando um modelo mais realístico, com três cores e incluindo a condição de neutralidade de cor, e com uma aproximação que captura efeitos além de campo médio, a “Teoria de Perturbação Otimizada” (OPT). Vimos que a utilização da OPT no caso com neutralidade faz com que a razão entre os acoplamentos de diquark e escalar, Gd=Gs aumente consideravelmente para que exista a fase BEC, e consequentemente o crossover BEC-BCS, em comparação com a aproximação de Large Nc (ou campo médio) usual.

Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq Stellar clusters are groups of gravitationally bounded stars which were born from the same molecular cloud. In their initial phase, they remain bounded to the cloud and are called embedded clusters. These objects have ages of about 3Myr and the greater part of their stars are in the Pre Main Sequence (PMS). In the present work, we present a study of four embedded clusters, three of them in the region W31 and one in NGC6334. W31 is classified as a giant starforming region, presenting four HII regions and three stellar clusters, W31-CL, BDS 112 and one associated with G10:6-0:4, of which we will study the first two and the cluster towards SGR 1806-20. NGC6334, the Cat’s Paw Nebula, is known as a mini Starburst in the Galaxy, has at least five HII regions and several stellar clusters. There is evidence of the presence of a dust bridge that connects it with its twin region NGC6357. This bridge hosts the cluster VVVCL 109, studied here. The light absorption by the molecular cloud’s dust prevents the observation of embedded clusters in the optical wavelenghts. Therefore, we use the J, H and KS bands infrared photometry from the surveys VISTA Variables in the Vía Láctea survey (VVV) e The Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS). Both photometric data are combined in a way that the data for PMS and MS stars are available. The clusters’ structure is analysed through radial density profiles (RDPs) that, if the object is dinamically evolved, can be fitted by the King profile. We preform field star decontamination procedure in which the stars projected towards the cluster are taken off. The age, distance and extinction are calculated through the PARSEC isochrone fitting in the decontaminated CMD. The extinction is better examined through the color-color diagram. The clusters W31-CL and BDS 112 have ages ranging from 0 to 2 Myr and are located at a distance d = 4:7 kpc. We determined that the cluster SGR 1806-20 is associated to the regionW31, as it is located at the same distance as the other two. Besides that it has a maximum age of 4 Myr and extinction AV = 25 mag, caused by the dust accumulation in that direction. According to our analysis VVVCL 109 has about 1 Myr and a distance of d = 1:75 kpc, that localizes it in the molecular filament between NGC6334 and NGC6357. Aglomerados estelares são grupos de estrelas ligadas gravitacionalmente que foram formadas a partir da mesma nuvem molecular. Em sua fase inicial permanecem ligados à nuvem e são chamados de aglomerados imersos. Esses objetos possuem idade de aproximadamente 3Myr e a maior parte de suas estrelas é de Pré Sequência Principal (PMS). No presente trabalho, apresentamos o estudo de quatro aglomerados imersos, três deles na região W31 e um em NGC6334. W31 é classificada como região de formação estelar gigante, apresentando quatro regiões HII e três aglomerados estelares,W31-CL, BDS 112 e um associado a G10:6 - 0:4, dos quais estudaremos os dois primeiros e o aglomerado na direção do SGR 1806 - 20. NGC6334, a nebulosa da pata do gato, é conhecida por ser um mini Starburst na Galáxia, possui pelo menos cinco regiões HII e vários aglomerados estelares. Existem evidências da existência de uma ponte de poeira que a conecta com sua região gêmea NGC6357. Nesta ponte encontra-se o aglomerado VVVCL 109, estudado neste trabalho. A absorção de luz pela poeira da nuvem molecular gigante impede a observação de aglomerados imersos no óptico. Assim, utilizamos a fotometria infravermelha nas bandas J, H e KS dos levantamentos VISTA Variables in the Vía Láctea survey (VVV) e The Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS). A fotometria de ambos é combinada para que os dados de estrelas de PMS e sequência principal estejam disponíveis. A estrutura dos aglomerados é analisada através de perfis de densidade radial (RDPs) que, caso o objeto seja dinamicamente evoluído, pode ser ajustado pelo perfil de King. Realizamos o procedimento de descontaminação de estrelas de campo no qual as estrelas projetadas na direção do aglomerado são retiradas. A idade, distância e avermelhamento são calculadas através do ajuste de isócronas PARSEC ao CMD descontaminado. A extinção é melhor examinada através do diagrama cor-cor. Os aglomeradosW31-CL e BDS 112 possuem idades entre 0 e 2 Myr e estão localizado a uma distância d = 4;7 kpc. Determinamos que o aglomerado SGR 1806 - 20 está associado à região W31, pois está a mesma distância dos outros dois. Além disso possui idade máxima de 4 Myr e avermelhamento AV = 25 mag, causado pelo acúmulo de poeira naquela direção. De acordo com nossa análise VVVCL 109 possui aproximadamente 1 Myr e distância d = 1;75 kpc, que o localiza no filamento molecular entre NGC6334 e NGC6357.

The Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs) show high luminosities ( 109 L ) and emit energy from the accretion disk around the central Supermassive Black Hole (SMBH). The Narrow Line Region (NLR) is the only AGN structure spatially resolved in the optical by current telescopes. It shows extensions typically of a few hundred of parsecs and is formed by low density gaseous clouds (≈10³cm⁻³). In this work, we used data obtained with the Integral Field Unit (IFU) of the Gemini Multi-Object Spectrograph (GMOS) instrument of the Gemini North telescope, to study the gas distribution, excitation and kinematics in the NLR of five nearby Seyfert galaxies (Mrk 6, Mrk 79, Mrk 348, Mrk 607 e Mrk 1058). The data cover the inner 3:005 5:000 – corresponding to physical scales in the range (0,6 to 0,9) (1,5 to 2,2) kpc2 at the galaxy – at a spatial resolution ranging from 110 to 280 pc with a spectral coverage of 4300 – 7100 Å and spectral resolution of ≈ 90 kms⁻¹. We fitted the line profiles at each spaxel by Gaussian curves using adapted versions of the PROFIT routine and constructed maps for the flux distributions, kinematics and intensity line-ratios for the galaxies of our sample. The gas excitation is Seyfert-like over the whole field-of-view in all galaxies. However, we can see ionization gradients of the gas that are correlated with the highest velocities dispersion regions and we have interpreted them as being due to nuclear outflows that reach line-of-sight velocities up to ≈200 kms⁻¹. Bipolar outflows are observed in Mrk 348 and Mrk 79, while in Mrk 1058 only the blueshifted part is clearly observed. Os núcleos ativos de galáxias (AGNs) apresentam altas luminosidades ( 109 L ) e emitem energia a partir do disco de acreção que está circundando o buraco negro supermassivo (SMBH) central. A região de linhas estreitas (NLR) é a única estrutura do AGN espacialmente resolvida no óptico pelos telescópios atuais. Ela apresenta extensões típicas de algumas centenas de parsecs e é formada por nuvens gasosas de baixas densidades ( ≈10³cm⁻³). Neste trabalho utilizamos dados espectroscópicos, obtidos com a unidade de campo integral (IFU) do instrumento Gemini Multi - Object Spectrograph (GMOS) instalado no telescópio Gemini Norte, com o objetivo de estudar a distribuição, excitação e cinemática do gás da NLR de cinco galáxias Seyfert próximas (Mrk 6, Mrk 79, Mrk 348, Mrk 607 e Mrk 1058). O campo de visão de nossas observações corresponde a região central de 3:005 5:000 – equivalente a extensões típicas que variam de (0,6 a 0,9) (1,5 a 2,2) kpc 2 nas galáxias. As resoluções espacial e espectral são, respectivamente, de 110 a 280 pc e ≈ 90 kms⁻¹, para uma cobertura espectral de 4300 – 7100 Å. Utilizamos a rotina PROFIT para ajustar curvas Gaussianas aos perfis das linhas de emissão mais intensas dos espectros. A partir dos ajustes, construímos mapas bidimensionais para as distribuições de fluxo, cinemática do gás e razões de intensidades de linhas para as galáxias da amostra. A emissão do gás é consistente com origem em um gás excitado pela radiação do núcleo Seyfert em todo o campo de visão, para todas as galáxias. Entretando, observa-se gradientes de ionização do gás que estão correlacionados com regiões de maiores dispersão de velocidades as quais são interpretadas como sendo devidas a outflows nucleares que atingem velocidades ao longo da linha de visada de ≈200 kms⁻¹. Outflows bipolares são observados em Mrk 348 e Mrk 79, enquanto em Mrk 1058 apenas um lado (em blueshifts) é claramente observado.

Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq The correct characterization of the spectral energy distribution (SED) components in Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) is the key for their understanding and their role in the evolution of the host galaxies. In the near-infrared (NIR) spectral range, the SED of AGNs, besides the contribution of stellar populations (SPs), presents also components due to the accretion disk (represented by a power law function) and dust emission (represented by a Planck’s function). In this work we have used the Starlight code to perform spectral synthesis using integral field spectroscopy for the inner 1:005 (few hundreds of parsecs) of a sample of six nearby Seyferts galaxies, witth 0:004 z 0:017. The data were obtained with the NIFS (Near-infrared Integral Field Spectrograph) instrument installed on the Gemini North telescope and comprise observations in the J and K bands with an angular resolution of a few tens of parsecs. So far, the methodology used here has been previously used to study the SED of four galaxies and thus, the present work represents an increase of 150% in the sample of studied galaxies. We obtained two-dimensional maps for stellar kinematics by fitting the CO absorption bandheads at 2.3mm present in the spectra of five galaxies of the sample. The exception is Mrk 3, for which the CO bands were not detected by our observations. The stellar velocity fields for all galaxies show a disk rotation pattern, and the velocity dispersion maps (σ) present structures of low values (50–80kms⁻¹) merged in regions of greater values (σ > 100kms⁻¹). Two-dimensional maps were constructed for the contributions to the K-band flux and mass of SPs in four age bins: young (age 100 Myr), young-intermediate (100 < age 700 Myr), intermediate-old (700 Myr < age 2 Gyr) e old (2 < age 13 Gyr). The intermediate age populations are associated to low-s structures, suggesting that these structures are originated by stars recently formed, that are not still viralized with the bulge stars. The two-dimensional maps and radial profiles for the flux contributions of each SP show that the intermediate-old and old populations present the highest contributions in the central region of the galaxy, decreasing with distance to the nucleus, while the young and young-intermediate populations present the opposite behavior, with values increasing with distance to the nucleus. This result supports the “inside-out” star formation scenario, in which stars are first formed at the nucleus and then successively at larger distances from it. Therefore, older SPs are expected to being located at the nucleus and younger populations at larger distances from it. A contribution of blackbody emission was detected at the nucleus of five objects (Mrk 3, Mrk 573, Mrk 607, NGC2110, NGC3227), while the power law component was necessary to fit the nuclear spectrum of four galaxies (Mrk 3, Mrk 573, NGC2110, NGC3227). We estimated the hot dust masses for the object with detected blackbody components, resulting in values of the order of 10⁻²M⨀ , consistent with the range of values available in the literature. It should be noticed that the estimated mass represents only the hot dust component, that presents continuum emission in the NIR, and is possibly associated with the inner region of the dusty torus, predicted by the AGN unified model. Finally, we found a trend of more luminous AGN to present older stellar populations as compared to less luminous objects, contradicting results obtained at optical wavelengths. A correta caracterização das componentes que contribuem para a distribuição espectral de energia (SED – Spectral Energy Distribution) em Núcleos Ativos de Galáxias (AGN –Active Galactic Nuclei) é de fundamental importância para o entendimento desses objetos e seus papéis na evolução das galáxias que os hospedam. Na região do infravermelho próximo, a SED de regiões centrais de AGNs, além da contribuição de populações estelares (SPs – Stellar Populations), apresenta componentes devido ao disco de acreção (do tipo lei de potência) e de emissão de poeira (representado por uma lei de Planck). Neste trabalho utilizamos o código Starlight para realizar a síntese espectral com dados de espectroscopia de campo integral para os 1:005 (poucas centenas de parsecs) centrais de uma amostra de seis galáxias Seyfert próximas. Os dados foram obtidos com o instrumento NIFS (Near-infrared Integral Field Spectrograph) instalado no telescópio Gemini Norte e compreendem observações nas bandas J e K com uma resolução angular de poucas dezenas de parsecs. Até o momento essa metodologia havia sido implementada somente para quatro galáxias, cujos resultados estão disponíveis na literatura e, dessa forma, o presente trabalho representa um acréscimo de 150% na amostra. Obtemos mapas bidimensionais para a cinemática estelar a partir do ajuste das bandas de absorção do CO presentes nos espectros das galáxias da amostra, com exceção de Mrk 3, cujas bandas não são detectadas. Os campos de velocidades das estrelas para todas as galáxias apresentam um padrão de disco em rotação típico e os mapas de dispersão de velocidades (σ) apresentam estruturas de mais baixos valores (50–80kms⁻¹) imersos em regiões de maiores valores (σ > 100kms⁻¹). Foram construídos mapas bidimensionais para as contribuições em fluxo na banda K e massa para SPs jovem (idade 100 Manos), jovem-intermediária (100 < idade 700 Manos), intermediáriavelha (700Manos < idade 2 Ganos) e velha (2 < idade 13 Ganos). Observa-se que as populações de idades intermediárias estão associadas a estruturas com menores valores de s, sugerindo que estas são originadas por populações relativamente jovens, as quais ainda não atingiram o equilíbrio orbital com o potencial gravitacional do bojo. Os mapas bidimensionais e os perfis radiais para as contribuições em fluxo de cada SP mostram que as populações intermediária-velha e velha apresentam as maiores contribuições na região central, descrescendo com a distância ao núcleo. Já os perfis radiais para as contribuições das populações jovem e jovem-intermediária apresentam o comportamento oposto, com valores aumentando com a distância ao núcleo. Isso sugere o cenário inside-out de formação de estrelas nas regiões centrais das galáxias analisadas, no qual as estrelas se formam de dentro para fora na galáxia e, portanto, são esperadas SPs mais velhas no núcleo e mais jovens a grandes distâncias dele. No núcleo das galáxias verificou-se uma contribuição devido à emissão de corpo negro em cinco objetos (Mrk 3, Mrk 573, Mrk 607, NGC2110, NGC3227), e uma contribuição devido a componentes tipo lei de potência em quatro deles (Mrk 3, Mrk 573, NGC2110, NGC3227). Naquelas onde a componente de corpo negro foi detectada, a massa de poeira quente foi calculada e resultou valores da ordem de 10⁻²M ⨀ , consistentes com valores disponíveis na literatura. Essa massa de poeira representa somente a poeira quente, que emite no infravermelho próximo, possivelmente associada a região interna do toroide de poeira previsto pelo modelo unificado de AGNs. Finalmente, observa-se uma tendência de que nas regiões centrais as galáxias mais luminosas apresentam populações estelares mais velhas do que galáxias pouco luminosas, resultado esse, distinto do encontrado em comprimentos de onda óticos.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES We examined the dependency between nuclear activity in galaxies and the environment in which they are located. Using data from the MaNGA survey from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV, we analyzed the gas kinematics of 62 active galaxies, along with 109 galaxies from a control sample without nuclear activity, but otherwise similar to the sample of active galaxies with regard to morpho- logy, stellar mass and redshift. The maps of stellar velocity and emission line velocity for Hα, Hβ, [OIII]λ5007 and [NII]λ6583, as well as their fluxes, were obtained through the GANDALF software. With the purpose of isolating the contribution from radial motions, the stellar velocity maps were used to produce purely rotational models of thin disk with the DiskFit sofware. Those models were then subtracted from the emission line velocity maps, so that the residual maps represent the radial mo- tion contribution. The contribution from non-circular gas motion both for active and control galaxies was compared with a series of parameters that characterize the environment in which each galaxy is located: the environmental luminous density in four scale factors (1,5 Mpc, 3 Mpc, 6 Mpc and 10 Mpc), the richness of the group to which it belongs, and the galaxy velocity in the frame of reference of its parent cluster. We have found mostly a very small dependence of the intensity of non-circular gas motions in the sample galaxies on the environmental properties. This low environmental sen- sitivity is similar for AGN and control galaxies, so that both active and non-active galaxies are, by and large, indistinguishable with regard to radial gas motions. Analyzing Strong AGN separately, we noted some positive correlation between the occurrence of radial gas motions with the environmental density, while for Weak AGN these motions are more important in low density regions. However, analyzing only the regions close to the center of the sample galaxies, these correlations become less evident, suggesting that only the peripheral gas of the sample galaxies is directly affected by the envi- ronment. Our results suggest that either the excess of non-circular gas motions in AGN as compared to non-active galaxies is very low, or the active phase of the galaxies occurs in a much later period than eventual environmentally driven radial gas motions. Verificamos a dependência entre atividade nuclear em galáxias e o ambiente no qual as mesmas estão inseridas. Com base no levantamento MaNGA do Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV, analisamos a cinemática do gás de 62 galáxias com núcleos ativos juntamente com 109 galáxias de controle desprovidas de atividade nuclear, mas similares tanto morfologicamente quanto em massa estelar e redshift às galáxias ativas da nossa amostra. Os mapas de velocidades estelares e mapas de velocidades das linhas de emissão Hα, Hβ, [OIII]λ5007 e [NII]6583, bem como os fluxos dessas linhas, foram obtidos através do software GANDALF.. Com o intuito de isolar as contribuições de movimentos radiais, os mapas de velocidade estelar foram usados para produzir modelos puramente rotacionais de disco fino com o software DiskFit. Os modelos foram então subtraídos dos mapas de velocidade das linhas de emissão, de forma que os res´ıduos representam as contribuições radiais do movimento.A contribuição de movimentos não circulares do gás para galáxias ativas e de controle foi confrontada com uma série de parâmetros que caracterizam o ambiente na qual cada galáxia esta´ situada: a densidade ambiental local em quatro fatores de escala (1,5 Mpc, 3 Mpc, 6 Mpc e 10 Mpc), a riqueza do grupo ao qual a gala´xia pertence, e a velocidade da gala´xia no referencial do respectivo grupo. Encontramos uma dependência em geral muito baixa da intensidade de movimentos não circulares de gás nas galáxias da amostra com as propriedades ambientais. Essa baixa sensibilidade com o ambiente é similar entre AGNs e galáxias de controle, de forma que galáxias ativas e não ativas são, de forma geral, indistinguíveis frente aos movimentos radiais de gás. Analisando Strong AGNs separadamente, notamos alguma correlação positiva da presença de movimentos radiais de gás com a densidade ambiental, enquanto que nos Weak AGNs tais movimentos contribuem mais em regiões de baixa densidade. Porém, analisando apenas a região mais central das galáxias da amostra, essas correlações se tornam menos evidentes, sugerindo que apenas o gás periférico das galáxias da amostra seja diretamente afetado pelo ambiente. Nossos resultados sugerem que ou o excesso de movimentos não-circulares de gás em AGNs frente a galáxias não ativas é muito baixo, ou a fase ativa das galáxias ocorre em um período muito posterior a eventuais movimentos radiais de gás induzidos pelo ambiente.

Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico In this work, we investigated differences between stellar populations of galaxies that are part of a cluster with and without substructures. We used optical spectra obtained from Sloan Digital Sky Servey III DR10 for the galaxies of a sample of 1052 clusters selected from Wen et al. (2012) and Tempel et al. (2012) catalogues. For the Wen et al. (2012) catalog, we excluded interlopers by applying the method Shifting gapper to the coordinates and redshifts of all extended sources inside 5 Mpc of radial distance to the center of each system. In order to detect substructure and to estimate the velocity dispersion of individual structures, we used the LocKE algorithm. The individual systems inside clusters with substructure have been classified between primary and secondary, according to their mass dominance. We used the stellar populations synthesis program starlight from Cid Fernandes et al. (2005) to characterize the stellar populations of the galaxies in each structure, and we compared the average results obtained for different types of structure. Substructures have been found in 44% of our sample. The average masses of individual structures, estimated by virial analysis, is 4.5×1014M⊙. The mean stellar age and the mean metallicity obtained for the galaxies is 8.7 ± 2.0×109 years and Z=0.023 ± 0.009, respectively. The mean stellar age distribution for the clusters without substructure, and the primary and secondary structures, show some significant differences. Investigating the stellar populations according to the galaxy luminosity, we found that, in any type of structure, the mean stellar age grows with luminosity, while the fraction of galaxies with mean stellar age less than 6×109 years, decreases. For clusters without substructures, primary and secondary with less mass than 1014.5M⊙, the mean stellar age and luminosity do not show significant differences; however, in massive structures, the mean stellar age increases in the order secondary-primary-without substructure, while the fraction of galaxies with mean stellar age less than 6×109 years decreases. This result suggests that, although the main parameter that affects the stellar age of a galaxy is its mass, the environment also play a significant role, particularly in massive systems. Neste trabalho, investigamos diferenças entre populações estelares de galáxias que fazem parte de aglomerados com e sem subestruturas. Para isso, utilizamos espectros óticos obtidos pelo Sloan Digital Sky Survey III DR10 para as galáxias de uma amostra de 1052 aglomerados oriundos dos catálogosWen et al. (2012) e Tempel et al. (2012). Para os aglomerados do catálogoWen et al. (2012), realizamos a exclusão de galáxias intrusas aplicando o método shifting gapper às coordenadas e redshifts de todas as fontes extensas a 5 Mpc de distância radial ao centro de cada sistema. Para detectar subestruturas e estimar a dispersão de velocidades das estruturas individuais, utilizamos o algoritmo LocKE. Os sistemas individuais de aglomerados com subestruturas foram separados entre estrutura primária e secundária, de acordo com sua dominância em massa. Utilizamos o programa de síntese de populações estelares Starlight de Cid Fernandes et al. (2005) para caracterizar as populações estelares das galáxias de cada estrutura, e comparamos os resultados médios obtidos entre os diferentes tipos de estrutura. Foram detectadas subestruturas em 44% de nossa amostra. O valor médio das massas das estruturas individuais, estimadas via análise virial, é de 4.5×1014M⊙. A idade estelar média e a metalicidade média obtidas para as galáxias da amostra são de 8.7 ± 2.0×109 anos e Z=0.023 ± 0.009 respectivamente. As distribuições de idade estelar média entre aglomerados desprovidos de subestrutura, e as estruturas primária e secundária, apresentam diferenças pouco significativas. Investigando as populações estelares em função da luminosidade das galáxias, encontramos que, em qualquer tipo de estrutura, a idade estelar média cresce com a luminosidade, enquanto que a fração de objetos com idade estelar média menor do que 6×109 anos diminui. Para aglomerados sem subestrutura, primários e secundários e com massa inferior a 1014.5 M⊙, a idade estelar média e a luminosidade não apresentam diferenças significativas; porém, em estruturas mais massivas, a idade estelar média aumenta no sentido secundária-primária-sem subestrutura, enquanto que a fração de galáxias com idade estelar média menor do que 6×109 anos diminui. Esse resultado sugere que, embora o principal parâmetro que afeta a idade estelar de uma galáxia seja sua massa, o ambiente também desempenha um papel significativo, em particular em sistemas mais massivos.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Supernova remnants allow to derive many physical properties of the medium where they lie, such as temperature, density and chemical abundances. Some of the physical characteristics of these objects may differ significantly if one compares different samples, depending on the formation mechanisms, evolutionary stages and characteristics of the local medium. Even in a single object, properties can vary substantially along its extension. Nevertheless, most of the published spectroscopic works about supernova remnants use integrated data or data from the brightest positions. Such data do not allow to determine the physical conditions all over the object and are little useful for studying its structure and evolution modeling. This work presents a study of supernova remnants based on the spectroscopic mapping of their physical properties. The long-slit spectroscopy technique was used to accomplish data from all the targets extension, the supernova remnants N49 e N11L from the Large Magellanic Cloud. The data were acquired with the 4,1 m SOAR telescope. For N11L, the principal lines were mapped and the electron density map was obtained from the line intensity ratio [S II] λ6716/λ6731 for the spectra with and without sky subtraction. The last one produced values on almost all the observed region (N11L and its vicinity). The electron density varies between minimal values to values a bit larger than 300 cm−3 . For N49, the map of values of the electron density were built and for the electron temperature from four different sensors: [O III] (λ5007+λ4959)/λ4363, [S II] (λ6716+λ6731)/λ4068,76, [O II] λ3727/(λ7320+λ7330) and [N II] (λ6583+λ6548)/λ5755. 67 emission lines were measured in many positions, allowing to built maps of fluxes and flux ratios. Other 17 weaker lines were measured only in the integrated spectra. Among the 84 measured lines, about 20 were measured for the first time in this remnant. N49 presents a strong density gradient, varying from a few dozens electrons per cubic centimeter on the northwest region to values about 6 000 cm−3 on the southwest. The temperature distribution obtained via [O III] sensor presents higher values in the centre (∼ 40 000 K). The other temperature maps do not present the same characteristic and have temperature values about 11 000 K. The variation of the logarithmic extinction coefficient c(Hβ) in different portions of the nebula was investigated analyzing the first three Balmer decrements. This analysis suggested that collisional excitation of the Hα may be present in the boundary regions of N49. Diagnostic diagrams with line intensity ratio of this work are compared with theoretical data obtained from the MAPPINGS III code. Various line intensity ratio maps presented values with radial variations. The analysis of this behavior suggests that it is related with a variation of the gas velocity, which has smaller values on the farthest regions. Os remanescentes de supernovas permitem o diagnóstico de diversas propriedades físicas do meio em que se situam, como temperatura, densidade e abundâncias químicas. Algumas características físicas desses objetos podem diferir muito ao se comparar diferentes amostras, dependendo dos seus mecanismos de formação, estágios evolutivos e características do meio em que se formam. Mesmo em se tratando de um mesmo objeto, propriedades físicas podem variar consideravelmente ao longo de sua extensão. Apesar disso, grande parte dos trabalhos espectroscópicos de remanescentes de supernovas publicados utilizam medidas integradas do objeto ou apenas de posições mais brilhantes. Medidas desse tipo não permitem conhecer pontualmente as condições físicas do objeto e contribuem pouco para estudos de modelagem de sua estrutura e evolução. Este trabalho apresenta um estudo de remanescentes de supernovas a partir de mapeamentos espectroscópicos de suas propriedades físicas. Utilizando-se a técnica de espectroscopia de fenda longa, buscou-se coletar dados em toda a extensão dos alvos, os remanescentes de supernovas N49 e N11L da Grande Nuvem de Magalhães. Os dados foram obtidos com o telescópio SOAR de 4,1 m. Para N11L, as principais linhas de emissão foram mapeadas e o mapa da densidade eletrônica calculada a partir da razão de fluxos [S II] λ6716/λ6731 foi obtido de espectros com e sem emissão do céu, sendo que o do primeiro caso produziu valores em praticamente toda a região observada (N11L e sua vizinhança). A densidade varia entre valores mínimos até pouco mais do que 300 cm−3 . Para N49, mapas de valores de densidade eletrônica foram construídos e de valores de temperatura eletrônica com quatro sensores diferentes: [O III] (λ5007+λ4959)/λ4363, [S II] (λ6716+λ6731)/λ4068,76, [O II] λ3727/(λ7320+λ7330) e [N II] (λ6583+λ6548)/λ5755. 67 linhas de emissão foram medidas em várias posições, permitindo a construção de mapas de fluxos e razões de fluxos. Outras 17 linhas menos intensas foram medidas apenas no espectro integrado. Destas 84 linhas medidas, cerca de 20 foram medidas pela primeira vez neste remanescente. N49 apresenta um forte gradiente de densidade, variando de algumas de dezenas de elétrons por centímetro cúbico na região noroeste até valores em torno de 6 000 cm−3 no sudeste. A distribuição de temperatura eletrônica obtida pelo sensor [O III] apresenta valores mais altos no centro (∼ 40 000 K). Os outros mapas de temperatura eletrônica não apresentam a mesma característica e possuem valores de temperatura da ordem de 11 000 K. A variação do coeficiente de extinção logarítmica c(Hβ) em diferentes regiões da nebulosa foi investigada analisando-se os três primeiros decrementos Balmer. Esta análise evidenciou a existência de excitação colisional da linha Hα nas regiões periféricas de N49. Diagramas de diagnóstico de razões de intensidades de linhas calculadas com as medidas deste trabalho foram comparados com valores teóricos obtidos através do código MAPPINGS III. Vários mapas de razões de intensidades de linhas apresentaram valores com variações radiais. A análise deste comportamento indica que ele está relacionado com uma variação da velocidade do gás, que possui menores valores nas regiões mais distantes do centro do remanescente.

We present two-dimensional (2D) maps for emission-line fluxes and ratios and kinematics for the central regions of the Seyfert galaxies NGC 4501 and NGC 3982, from optical spectra obtained with the GMOS (Gemini Multi Object Spectrograph) Integral Field Unit (IFU) at the Gemini North telescope at a spatial resolution of ≈ 50 pc for NGC4501 and ≈30 pc for NGC 3982. This maps were constructed from by fitting the emission-line profiles of Ha, [N II] ll6548,6583, [S II] ll6716,6730 e [O I] l63000 by Gaussian curves. For NGC 4501, we have also obtained measurements for the stellar kinematics by fitting the Na I l5897 °A absorption by stellar templates, using the pPXF method. Such measurements were not possible for NGC3982, due to the nondetection of absorption lines with signal-to-noise ration high enough. NGC 4501 presents extended-line emission to up to 5′′ from the nucleus with flux peak seen at the nucleus. NGC3982 also presents the emission peak at the nucleus for all lines, however it presents emission over the field of view (7′′ × 15′′). A ring of H II regions is observed in the Ha emission with a radius of 5′′ from the nucleus for this galaxy. The gas velocity fields for both galaxies present rotation pattern, being well represented by a kinematic model of rotating disk with circular orbits in the plane of the galaxy. The highest residuals (observed velocities − model) present correlations with dust structures, which can be interpreted as inflows towards the nucleus. The stellar velocity dispersion of the bulge of NGC 4501 is s⋆=150±30 kms−1, resulting in a black hole mass of MBH=3+5 −2 ×107M⊙ based on the M − s relationship. The velocity dispersion map for NGC4501 show values ranging from 50 to 150 kms−1 for the forbidden lines, while the Ha maps shows overall smaller values, with s < 100 kms−1 at all locations. The highest s values for all emission lines are observed at 2-3′′ northeast from the nucleus for NGC 4501, being co-spatial with a distortion seen in the velocity field. In NGC 3982 observed s values ranging 50 to 150 kms−1, with the highest values observed at 1′′ east from the nucleus. The electron density maps obtained from the [S II] l 6716/l6730 line ratio shows values between 100 cm−3 the nucleus to 900 cm−3 in a ring with radius 1′′ for NGC 4501 and values reaching 100 cm−3 to 3000 cm−3 for NGC 3982. Apresentamos mapas bidimensionais (2D) para fluxos e razões de linhas de emissão e para cinemática do gás da região central das galáxias Seyferts NGC 4501 e NGC3982 a partir de espectros ópticos obtidos com a unidade de campo integral do instrumento GMOS (Gemini Multi Object Spectrograph) no telescópio Gemini Norte, com resolução espacial de ≈50 pc para NGC4501 e ≈30 pc para NGC3982. Estes mapas foram construídos a partir do ajuste de Gaussianas aos perfis das linhas de emissão de Ha, [N II] ll6548,6583, [S II] ll6716,6730 e [O I] l6300. Para NGC4501, obtivemos ainda medidas da cinemática estelar a partir do ajuste da absorção do Na I l5897 °A por templates estelares. Tais medidas não foram possíveis para NGC3982, pois não foram detectadas linhas de absorção com razão sinal ruido suficientemente alto. NGC4501 apresenta emissão estendida até 5′′ do núcleo, com pico de fluxo observado na posição nuclear. NGC3982 também apresenta pico de emissão no núcleo para todas as linhas, porém apresenta emissão em todo o campo observado (7′′ ×15′′). Observa-se um anel de regiões H II a 5′′ do núcleo para esta galáxia. Os campos de velocidades do gás para ambas as galáxias apresentam um padrão de rotação, sendo bem representados por um modelo cinemático para um disco em rotação com órbitas circulares. O mapa de resíduos (velocidades observadas − modelo) mostra correlações com estruturas de poeira, que sugerem inflows de gás em direção ao núcleo das galáxias. A dispersão e velocidade estelar para o bojo de NGC 4501 é s⋆=150±30 kms−1, que resulta em uma massa para o buraco negro supermassivo de MBH=3+5−2 ×107M⊙ utilizando a relação M − s. Os mapas de dispersão de velocidades (s) para NGC 4501 mostram valores de 50 a 150 kms−1 para linhas proibidas, enquanto que Ha apresenta valores menores, com s < 100 kms−1 em todo o campo. Os maiores valores de s para todas as linhas de emissão são observados a 2-3′′ a nordeste do núcleo, sendo co-espacial com uma distorção vista no campo de velocidades. Em NGC3982 observam-se valores de s entre 50 a 150 kms−1, com os maiores valores observados a 1′′ a leste do núcleo. Os mapas de densidades eletrônica obtidos da razão de linhas do [S II] l 6716/l6730 mostram valores entre 100 cm−3 no n´ucleo e 900 cm−3 em um anel com raio de 1′′ ao redor do núcleo para NGC4501 e valores entre 100 cm−3 e 3000 cm−3 para NGC 3982. Estes valores são comparáveis aos obtidos para outras galáxias ativas.

In this work, we apply the PCA Tomography technique (Principal Component Analysis) to data cubes for the central region of the Seyfert 2 galaxy Mrk 1066. The observations were done with the NIFS (Near-infrared Integral Field Spectrograph) instrument at Gemini North Telescope in the spectral bands J and K and with spatial resolution of ∼35 pc. Mrk 1066 has been the subject of studies by our working group, with the application of traditional techniques (as fitting of the emission-line profiles and measurements of stellar kinematics). Thus the use of the PCA Tomography in this work, which is a powerful statistical tool, is aimed to confirm previous results obtained with the use of traditional techniques, and at the same time searching for details of the physics of the central region of this galaxy, not seen in traditional analysis. The PCA Tomography was applied to datacubes for J and K bands at distinct spectral and spatial regions in order to emphasize regions of interest. With the simultaneous analysis of the eigenvectors and tomograms, we highlight some results for the central region of Mrk 1066: 1) We detected a ring of molecular gas (H2) with a radius of ∼75 pc, not detected in previous works, which seems to be being fed by gas flows along the spiral arms that originate in the ring; 2) we detected dust emission in an unresolved central structure, which was interpreted as being related to the presence of the dusty torus postulated by the unified model for AGNs (Active Galactic Nuclei); 3) emission of gas in a rotating disk in the plane of the galaxy was also detected, in agreement with previous studies; 4) we found outflows of ionized gas from the nucleus of Mrk 1066 associated with the radio jet, beyond phenomena with complex kinematics, not interpreted in this work. We construted flux maps for the continuum emission and for the main emission lines present in the spectra of Mrk 1066 from reconstructed datacubes using only some eigenvectors in order to highlight physical phenomena. We observed a good correlation between the fluxes of emission li- nes of the ionized gas and radio emission in some tomograms and investigated the origin of the [Fe II] line emission using line ratios. We found the following values [Fe II]λ1,2570µm/Paβ = 0,9 and [Fe II]λ1,2570µm/[P II]λ1,1886µm = 4,2. These values indicate that there may be a contribution by shocks due to radio jet to the [Fe II] excitation. The shocks release the Fe from grains of dust enhancing the Fe abundance and thus the fluxes of the emission lines of the [Fe II] is increased. Não foi possível inserir o resumo.

Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico We present an analysis of the physical and chemical conditions of the planetary nebulae NGC 6302 and NGC 2440 through spatially resolved spectroscopy. Long slit spectrophotometric data were obtained with the Goodman spectrograph attached to the 4.1m SOAR telescope in several different declinations with the slit on the East-West direction. From them, maps and spatial profiles were constructed. Electron densities were calculated from the [S II] and [Ar IV] sensors. For NGC 6302, a peaked distribution was found, with the densest area at the circumstellar region, reaching Ne ≈ 40000cm−3 and decreasing to Ne ≤ 1000cm−3 at the bipolar lobes. Knots with Ne ≈ 2000−3000cm−3 were also observed. In the maps of NGC 2440, densities reach more than 4500cm−3 in the central structures. Structures with 1000 < Ne < 1500cm−3 are associated with the bipolar lobes at P.A.≈ 60◦ and P.A.≈ 85◦. The average values of the electron temperature maps in NGC 6302 were 12304K and 17380K for Te(NII) and Te(OIII), respectively. In NGC 2440, these same values were 11273 K and 13722K, respectively. Small temperature flutuations on the plane of the sky were obtained, with 0,00196 ≤ t2 s (NII) ≤ 0,01198 and 0,00777 ≤ t2 s (OIII) ≤ 0,00181 for NGC 6302, and 0,00107 ≤ t2 s (NII) ≤ 0,00977 and 0,00131 ≤ t2 s (OIII) ≤ 0,01728 for NGC 2440. Abundances of N+, O+, S+, O2+, Ne2+, Ar3+ relative to H+ were determined from collisionally excited lines, and relative abundances of He+ and He2+ from recombination lines. The highest dispersions relative to the mean ionic abundances (50% to 70%) were observed for the N+/H+, O+/H+ and S+/H+ maps. Regions suggesting an inhomogeneous distribution of He and N were observed in the maps of He/H and N+/O+ of the nebulae. In the diagram logHa/[NII] versus logHa/[SII] no indication of shock excitation in any one of the structures of these objects was found in the spatial scale of our analysis. Apresentamos uma análise das condições físicas e químicas das nebulosas planetárias NGC 6302 e NGC 2440 através de espectroscopia espacialmente resolvida. Dados espectrofotométricos de fenda longa foram obtidos com o espectrógrafo Goodman acoplado ao telescópio SOAR de 4,1m em várias declinações diferentes com a fenda na direção Leste-Oeste. A partir deles, mapas e perfis espaciais foram construídos. Densidades eletrônicas foram calculadas a partir dos sensores [S II] e [Ar IV]. Para NGC 6302, uma distribuição de pico foi encontrada, com a área mais densa na região circum-estelar, atingindo Ne ≈ 40000cm−3 e diminuindo para Ne ≤ 1000cm−3 nos lóbulos bipolares. Condensações com Ne ≈ 2000−3000cm−3 foram também observadas. Nos mapas de NGC 2440, as densidades chegam a mais de 4500cm−3 nas estruturas centrais. Estruturas com 1000 < Ne < 1500cm−3 são associadas com os lóbulos bipolares em P.A.≈ 60◦ e P.A.≈ 85◦. Os valores médios dos mapas de temperatura eletrônica de NGC 6302 foram 12304K e 17380K para Te(NII) e Te(OIII), respectivamente. Em NGC 2440, estes mesmos parâmetros foram 11273K e 13722K, respectivamente. Pequenas flutuações de temperatura no plano do céu foram obtidas, com 0,00196 ≤ t2 s (NII) ≤ 0,01198 e 0,00777 ≤ t2 s (OIII) ≤ 0,00181 para NGC 6302, e 0,00107 ≤ t2 s (NII) ≤ 0,00977 e 0,00131 ≤ t2 s (OIII) ≤ 0,01728 para NGC 2440. Abundâncias de N+, O+, S+, O2+, Ne2+, Ar3+ relativas ao H+ foram determinadas a partir de linhas excitadas colisionalmente, e abundâncias relativas de He+ e He2+ a partir de linhas de recombinação. As maiores dispersões em relação às abundâncias iônicas médias (50% a 70%) foram observadas para os mapas N+/H+, O+/H+ e S+/H+. Regiões que sugerem uma distribuição inomogênea de He e N foram observadas nos mapas de He/H e N+/O+ das nebulosas. No diagrama logHa/[NII] versus logHa/[SII] nenhuma indicação de excitação por choque em qualquer uma das estruturas destes objetos foi encontrada na escala espacial de nossa análise.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior In this work, we present a two-dimensional mapping of the central region of the active galaxies NGC 1068 and NGC 2110, using near infrared integral field spectroscopy with the instrument NIFS (Near-infrared Integral Field Spectrograph) on the Gemini North Telescope. For NGC1068, we present measurements for the stellar kinematics by fitting the CO absorptions in the H and K bands, at a spatial resolution of � 8 pc. For NGC2110 we used K band observations at a spatial resolution of � 24pc. Besides the stellar kinematics, we present flux distributions and kinematics for the molecular and ionized gas emission lines. The stellar velocity fields for both galaxies present a typical rotation pattern, being well represented by a kinematic model, in wich the stars have circular orbits in the plane of disk and are subject to a Plummer potential. The mass of the supermassive black hole in the center of NGC1068 was estimated to be M = 4.3+6 −3 × 107M� from M −s? relation. For NGC 2110, M was estimated to be M = 1.3+2.5 −0.7 × 108M�. The maps for the kinematics and flux distributions of the emitting gas for NGC 2110 were obtained by fitting the H2 l2.1218μm and H I l2.1661μm emission-line profiles by Gauss-Hermite series. The H2 presents extended emission in the whole field of observation, while the Brg is extended only in the southeast northwest direction. The H2 emission is consistent with emission of gas excited by thermal processes, such as gas heated by X-rays from the AGN or shocks. We estimated an excitation temperature of � 2100−2700K for H2 emitting gas. The masses of molecular and ionized gas were estimated from fluxes of the H2 l2.1218 and Brg emission lines as MH2 � 1.4 × 103M� and MHII � 1.7 × 106M�, respectively. The gas velocity fields present a rotation pattern similar to those observed for the stars. In addition, the H2 velocity field presents other kinematic components. Two spiral structures are observed in blueshifts to the north of the nucleus and redshifts to the south of it. If these kinematic structures are originated from emission of gas located in the plane of the galaxy, they can be interpreted as gas flow towards the nucleus (inflow) of the galaxy along the spiral arms. In this case, the mass inflow rate is estimated to be � 4 × 10−4M� yr−1. Another kinematic component observed for H2 emitting gas was interpreted as ejection of gas from the nucleus (outflow) within a bi-cone with a mass outflow rate of � 4.66 × 10−4M� yr−1. Neste trabalho, mapeamos bidimensionalmente a região central das galáxias ativas NGC 1068 e NGC 2110, a partir de observações no infravermelho próximo (IV) com o instrumento NIFS (Nearinfrared Integral Field Spectrograph) do telescópio Gemini Norte. Para NGC1068 apresentamos medidas da cinemática estelar a partir de ajustes das bandas de absorção do CO nas bandas H e K, com resolução espacial de ≈ 8 pc. Já para NGC 2110, a resolução espacial é ≈ 24pc e utilizamos as absorções do CO na banda K para obter a cinemática estelar. Realizamos também medidas da cinemática e distribuições de fluxos para o gás molecular e para o g´as ionizado, emissor de linhas na banda K. Os campos de velocidades estelar para as duas galáxias apresentam um padrão de rotação típico, sendo bem representados por um modelo cinemático no qual as estrelas descrevem órbitas circulares no plano do disco e estão sujeitas a um potencial de Plummer. A massa do buraco negro supermassivo (BNS) no centro de NGC 1068 foi estimada como sendo M = 4.3+6 −3 × 107M⊙ a partir da relação M −s?. Para NGC 2110, a massa do BNS foi estimada em M = 1.3+2.5 -0.7 × 108M⊙. Os mapas para as distribuições de fluxos e cinemática do gás para NGC 2110 foram obtidos por ajustes de séries de Gauss-Hermite aos perfis das linhas de emissão do H2 l2.1218μm e H I l2.1661μm (Brg). Observa-se emissão estentida para o H2 em todo o campo de observação, enquanto que a emissão de Brγ é estendida somente na direçãoo sudeste noroeste. A emissão H2 é consistente com emissão de gás excitado por processos térmicos, tais como choques ou aquecimento do gás por raios-X emitidos pelos AGNs (Active Galactic Nuclei). Estimamos uma temperatura de excitação entre 2100−2700K para o gás emissor de H2. Massas de gás ionizado e molecular foram estimadas a partir dos fluxos das linhas de emissão Brγ e H2 l2.1218 e valem MHII ≈ 1.7 × 106M⊙ e MH2 ≈ 1.4 × 103M⊙, respectivamente. Os campos de velocidades do gás apresentam um padrão de rotação típico, semelhante ao observado para as estrelas. Adicionalmente a este padrão de rotação observam-se diferentes componentes cinemáticas para o H2. São observadas duas estruturas em forma de espiral em blueshifts ao norte do núcleo e redshifts ao sul do mesmo. Assumindo que estas estruturas tem origem em emissão do gás no plano da galáxia elas podem ser interpretadas como escoamentos de gás em direção ao núcleo (inflows). Estimamos uma taxa de inflow de ≈ 4 × 10−4M⊙ ano−1. Outra componente cinemática observada para o H2 foi interpretada como ejeção de gás do núcleo (outflows) com uma taxa de ≈ 4.66 × 10−4M⊙ ano−1.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior We have mapped emission-line flux distributions and ratios as well as the gaseous kinematics of the inner 450 pc radius of the Seyfert galaxy Mrk 766 using integral field near-IR J- and Kl-band spectra obtained with the Gemini North instrument NIFS at a spatial resolution of ≈60 pc and velocity resolution of ≈40 kms−1. Emission-line flux distributions in Pa β and Brγ extend to ≈300 pc from the nucleus in all directions, while the [Fe II] emission is extended to a similar distance but mostly along PA≈130◦. The coronal lines traced by [S IX] are resolved, presenting emission up to ≈150 pc from the nucleus. The molecular H2 gas emission is extended also to ≈300 pc from the nucleus but along PA≈50º, approximately perpendicularly to the orientation of the [Fe II] emission. The H2 gas has an excitation temperature Texc = 2360±45K and its emission is dominated by thermal processes, mainly due X-ray heating by the active nucleus. The [Fe II] emission seems also to be produced by these thermal processes, but with an important contribution from shocks, as evidenced by the correlation between enhanced [Fe II]/[P II] line ratios, the [Fe II] velocity dispersion and the radio structure. The gas velocity field is dominated by rotation, and the fit of a circular model gives a position angle of 59º for the line of nodes, which is the approximate orientation of the extended H2 emission. This fact, combined with the low H2 velocity dispersion close to the velocity resolution of the data supports a location of the H2 emitting gas in the galaxy plane, and its association with the feeding of the supermassive black hole. There is about 103 M⊙ of hot H2, implying ≈109 M⊙ of cold molecular gas in the inner 450 pc radius. On the other hand, the higher velocity dispersion (150 kms−1) for [Fe II] to the southeast of the nucleus, and the presence of both blueshifts and redshifts in the channel maps at the corresponding locations, supports the presence of an outflow to the southwest with an axis lying close to the plane of the sky. The ionized gas outflow rate is estimated to be 2.18 M⊙ yr−1, and the power of the outflow 0.011 Lbol. The distinct flux distributions and kinematics of the H2 and [Fe II] emitting gas, with the first more restricted to the plane of the galaxy and in rotation and the second related with the radio jet and in outflow are common characteristics of 8 Seyfert galaxies (ESO428-G14, NGC4051, NGC7582, NGC4151, Mrk 1066, Mrk 1157, Mrk 79 and Mrk 766) we have studied so far using similar integral-field observations and 2 others (Circinus and NGC2110) using long-slit observations. These results support the conclusion that the H2 emission is tracer of the AGN feeding, while the [Fe II] is a tracer of its feedback. Mapeamos as distribuições de fluxos de linhas de emissão e suas razões bem como a cinemática do gás nos 450 pc centrais da galáxia Seyfert Mrk 766 usando espectroscopia de campo integral (IFS) na região do infravermelho próximo nas bandas J e Kl obtidas com o instrumento NIFS do telestcópio Gemini-Norte com uma resolução espacial de ≈ 60 pc e resolução espectral de ≈ 40 km s−1. As distribuições de fluxos das linhas de emissão de Paβ e Brγ se estendem até ≈ 300 pc do núcleo em todas as direções, enquanto a emissão do [Fe II] se estende até uma distância similar, porém, mais concentrada ao longo do PA≈ 130º. As linhas coronais traçadas pelo [S IX] são resolvidas, apresentando emissão até ≈ 150 pc do núcleo. A emissão do H2 molecular é estendida também a ≈ 300 pc do núcleo, mas, ao longo do PA ≈ 50º, aproximadamente perpendicular a orientação da emissão do [Fe II]. O gás H2 tem uma temperatura de excitação Texc = 2360 ±45 K e sua emissão é dominada por processos térmicos, principalmente devido a aquecimento do gás por raios-X provenientes do núcleo ativo. A emissão do [Fe II] também parece ser produzida por esses processos térmicos, mas com uma importante contribuição dos choques, assim como evidenciado pela razão [Fe II]/[P II] e por aumentos na dispersão de velocidades associados com o jato rádio. e a estrutura rádio. O campo de velocidades do gás é dominado por rotação, e o ajuste de um modelo de órbitas circulares no plano da galáxia nos dá um ângulo de posição de 59º para a linha dos nodos, o que parece ser aproximadamente a orientação da elongação da emissão do H2. Este fato, combinado com a baixa dispersão de velocidades do H2 é consistente com emissão de gás localizado no plano da galáxia e sua associação com a alimentação do buraco negro supermassivo. Há aproximadamente 103 M⊙ de H2 quente, implicando em ≈ 109 M⊙ de gás molecular frio no interior dos 450 pc centrais. Por outro lado, a maior dispersão de velocidades para o [Fe II] (150 km s−1) a sudeste do núcleo, e a presença tanto de blueshifts quanto redshifts nos mapas de fluxo para diferentes velocidades nas correspondentes localizações, apoiam a presença de um outflow a sudeste, orientado próximo ao plano do céu. A taxa de outflow de gás ionizado é estimada em 2.18 M⊙ ano−1 e sua potência em 0.011 Lbol. As distintas distribuições de fluxo e cinemática do H2 e do [Fe II], com o primeiro mais restrito ao plano da galáxia e em rotação e o segundo relacionado com o jato rádio e em outflow são características comuns de 8 galáxias Seyferts (ESO 428-G14, NGC4051, NGC 7582, NGC 4151, Mrk 1066, Mrk 1157, Mrk 79 e Mrk 766) que foram estudadas por nosso grupo até agora, usando IFS e 2 outras (Circinus e NGC 2110) usando esoectroscopia de fenda longa. Estes resultados apoiam a conclusão de que a emissão do H2 é um traçador da alimentação do núcleo ativo, enquanto o [Fe II] é um traçador de seu feedback.

Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico We present a multi-wavelength study of the stellar content of 11 optical/infrared Southern Galactic Hii regions with 10 h < α(J2000) < −17 h and −65° < δ(J2000) < −35°. Nine optical objects with no published or uncertain distances were examined in order to identify their ionising sources and to determine their distances, whereas young stellar objects (YSOs) and main sequence ionising stars were photometrically classified in the two infrared clusters. We carried out optical spectroscopy and UBV photometry of the stellar content of these Hii regions and obtained the distance of individual stars by spectroscopic parallax. To avoid using a fixed value for the total-to-selective extinction ratio RV , the reddening AV was determined directly by the colour-difference method. We classified as types O or B 24 out of the 31 stars for which optical spectra were obtained. In particular, we identified two new O stars in RCW98 and RCW99. The values for reddening obtained correspond to a mean hRV i = 3.44, which is about 10% higher of the mean value found for field stars over all directions of the Galaxy. For the Hii regions NGC3503, NGC6334, RCW55, RCW87, RCW98 e RCW99, we obtained more precise distances calculated as the median of the spectroscopic parallaxes obtained for two to six different stars in each nebulae, with an internal dispersion of less than 5%. Among the objects more obscured in the Norma region, we analysed the stellar content of the East part of the large complex of Hii regions GAL331.5-00.1, which contains eight bright extended radio sources. This study comprises the infrared clusters [DBS2003] 156 and [DBS2003] 157, respectively associated to Hii regions GAL331.11-00.51 and GAL331.31-00.34. In order to isolate the brightest 2MASS sources of their unresolved companions, we carried out JHK photometry with resolution better than 2MASS data. 47 Near-infrared (NIR) sources with Ks-band excess were identified following usual methods. Other 70 YSOs were also identified by using Mid-IR on-line data of the GLIMPSE survey. The search for radial-velocity measurements in the literature and the similarity between the stellar population explored have indicated the two regions as physically associated. With the determination of the spectroscopic parallaxes of four O-type and two B-type stars spread over the both clusters, this hypothesis was verified. The parallaxes of these 6 stars returned very compatible distances (hdhelioci = 3.30 ± 0.29 kpc). The Near- and Mid-IR counterparts of the IRAS source 16085-5138 was found close to the field of [DBS2003] 157. This source has showed typical colours of a Ultra-compact ii region (UCHii) and spectral index α = 3.6 between 2 and 25 μm, which is typical of YSOs immersed in protostellar envelopes. A lower limit to the bolometric luminosity of the protostar embedded was computed as L = 7.7×103L⊙ (M = 10M⊙), which corresponds to a BO-B1 zero-age star. The cluster [DBS2003] 157 was found to be spread over all ∼4′ × 4′ region demarcated by a intense shell-like dust emission, where a secondary massive star formation is going on, likely as a result of the interaction between this dust and stellar winds. Apresentamos aqui um estudo multibanda do conteúdo estelar de onze regiões Hii do Hemisfério sul com 10 h < α(J2000) < −17 h e −65◦ < δ(J2000) < −35◦. Em 9 objetos ópticos, com valores de distância discrepantes ou sem nenhuma determinação anterior publicada, visamos identificar as fontes ionizantes e determinar suas distâncias, enquanto que, no estudo de dois outros objetos no infravermelho, buscamos não apenas identificar as fontes ionizantes, mas também objetos estelares jovens (YSOs) em seus campos. Nos primeiros, realizamos espectroscopia no óptico e fotometria UBV de seus conteúdos estelares e determinamos as distâncias das estrelas massivas por meio da paralaxe espectroscópica. A fim de evitar o uso de um valor fixo para a razão entre a extinção total e a seletiva à banda V , RV , a extinção AV na direção de cada estrela foi determinada diretamente através no método das diferenças de cor. De um total de 31 estrelas espectroscopicamente estudas, 24 foram classificadas como tipos O ou B, sendo duas novas estrelas tipo O encontradas em RCW98 e RCW99. As estimativas de AV implicaram um valor médio de hRV i = 3.44. Este resultado supera em 10% o valor médio encontrado para estrelas de campo sobre todas as direções da Galáxia. Para as regiões Hii NGC3503, NGC6334, RCW55, RCW87, RCW98 e RCW99, distâncias mais precisas foram estimadas como o valor mediano da paralaxe espectroscópica de 2 a 6 diferentes estrelas ionizantes, resultando em uma dispersão interna menor que 5%. Dentre os objetos mais obscurecidos pela extinção interestelar da região de Norma, analisamos o conte´udo estelar da região leste do grande complexo de regiões Hii brilhantes em radiofrequências GAL331.5-00.1. A área estudada engloba os aglomerados infravermelhos [DBS2003] 156 e [DBS2003] 157, respectivamente associados às regiões Hii GAL331.11-00.51 e GAL331.31-00.34. Observações fotométricas nas bandas J, H e Ks, com mais alta resolução que a fotometria 2MASS, foram realizadas nas direções desses objetos, o que possibilitou isolar as fontes infravermelhas mais brilhantes de estrelas companheiras não resolvidas e selecionar potenciais estrelas ionizantes para subsequente espectroscopia. 47 fontes com excesso de emissão intrínseca na banda Ks, típico em YSOs, foram identificadas seguindo os métodos usuais de análise da fotometria no IR próximo (NIR). Outros 70 YSOs foram identificados no IR médio (Mid-IR) usando dados do survey GLIMPSE. A pesquisa por medidas de velocidade radial na direção desses dois objetos e a semelhança das populações estelares indicou que as duas sub-regiões estudas deveriam estar fisicamente associadas. Esta hipótese foi reafirmada com a determinação da paralaxe espectroscópica de 4 estrelas tipo O e outras 2 tipo B nos dois aglomerados, que retornaram valores de distâncias heliocêntricas bastante compatíveis (hdhelioci = 3.30 ± 0.29 kpc). A contrapartida nos NIR e Mid-IR da fonte IRAS 16085-5138 foi encontrada junto ao aglomerado [DBS2003] 157. Esta fonte apresentou cores típicas de uma região Hii Ultracompacta (UCHii) e índice espectral entre 2 e 25 μm de α = 3.6, típico de YSO imerso em um envelope protoestelar. Um limite inferior para a luminosidade bolométrica da protoestrela embebida foi estimado em L = 7.7×103L⊙ (M = 10M⊙), o que corresponde a uma estrela de idade zero na faixa de BO-B1. O aglomerado [DBS2003] 157 mostrou-se estar espalhado sobre toda uma região de ∼4′ ×4′, demarcada por intensa emissão de poeira quente e espacialmente distribuída como uma nuvem em forma de concha.

Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico Emission line intensities from ionized nebulae are an important information source about this objects. There are many data on line intensities emitted from supernova remnants scattered in the literature. However, these data can be more efficiently used if avaliable in the form of an electronic data base. Based on this, it was made a catalog of emission line intensities of supernova remnants with data obtained from the literature, including lines in the spectral range of 900Å to 100 mm. About 300 supernova remnants and more than 25 000 emission line intensities were cataloged, including adittional information associated to the objects and the observations. As a demonstration of the aplicability of this catalog, diagnostic diagrams were made with emission line intensities from supernova remnants and from HII regions, using the line ratios [O III] l5007/Hb, [N II] l6583/Ha, [O II] l3727/Hb, [S II] (l6716+l6730)/Ha and [O I] l6300/Ha. Besides these traditional diagrams, the large amount of data in the catalog allowed the construction of others diagrams using relatively weak lines, rarely measured. The diagrams were effective for the classification and discrimination of these classes of objects. It was also verified the values of the ratios [O III] l5007/l4959 and [N II] l6584/l6548, which returned results in agreement with some others published. Moreover, considering the ultraviolet spectroscopy advances in recent decades, it is presented an history of the instrumentation and its performance evolution, regarding some topics that show the importance of the studies about the ultraviolet spectra of supernova remnants. Finally, a list of all ultraviolet emission lines already measured in supernova remnants until 2010 was made, and compared with a similar list created in 1996. It was found that many new lines were detected and some multiplets became resolved since then. Each one of the 142 lines was identified by its wavelength, the ion and parameters of the transition that generates it. This table may be used as a reference for identifying emission lines in supernova remnants in future studies. As intensidades de linhas de emissão de nebulosas ionizadas constituem uma importante fonte de informação sobre esses objetos. São numerosos os dados que podem ser encontrados em diferentes artigos da literatura referentes a intensidades de linhas emitidas por remanescentes de supernovas. Porém, esses dados podem ser mais eficientemente utilizados se disponibilizados em conjunto e de maneira organizada, ou seja, na forma de um catálogo. Com base nisso, foi construído um catálogo de intensidades de linhas de emissão de remanescentes de supernovas com dados extraídos da literatura, incluindo linhas no intervalo espectral de 900 Å até 100 mm. Cerca de 300 remanescentes de supernovas e mais de 25 000 intensidades de linhas de emissão foram catalogadas, incluindo informações adicionais associadas ao objeto e à observação. Como demonstração de aplicação do catálogo, foram construídos diagramas de diagnóstico com intensidades de linhas de emissão de remanescentes de supernovas e de regiões HII, utilizando as razões de intensidades de linhas [O III] l5007/Hb, [N II] l6583/Ha, [O II] l3727/Hb, [S II] (l6716+l6730)/Ha e [O I] l6300/Ha. Além desses diagramas tradicionais, a grande quantidade de dados do catálogo permitiu construir novos diagramas utilizando linhas relativamente fracas, raramente medidas. Os diagramas mostraram-se eficientes para a classificação e distinção dessas classes de objetos. Também verificou-se os valores das razões [O III] l5007/l4959 e [N II] l6584/l6548, retornando valores em concordância com outros publicados. Por fim, considerando os avanços na espectroscopia ultravioleta das últimas décadas, apresenta-se um histórico da instrumentação utilizada e da evolução de sua performance, considerando também alguns tópicos que mostram a importância dos estudos espectroscópicos na faixa do ultravioleta em remanescentes de supernovas. Construiu-se uma lista com todas as linhas de emissão do ultravioleta já medidas em remanescentes de supernovas até o ano de 2010, fazendo-se um comparativo com as linhas medidas até o ano de 1996. Verificouse que várias novas linhas foram detectadas e que alguns multipletos passaram a ser resolvidos. Essas 142 linhas são identificadas pelo seu comprimento de onda, pelo íon e por parâmetros das transições que as geram, e são listados os remanescentes de supernovas em que cada linha foi medida. Essa tabela pode ser utilizada como referência na identificação das linhas em futuros estudos de remanescentes de supernovas.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior This work is dedicated to investigate the spin relaxation in amorphous CoFeSiB glass-covered microwires and multilayered films of Permalloy/Cu. The microwires samples were Joule annealed and axially stressed in order to evaluate the modifications in the damping mechanisms due to the stress induced anisotropy. In the films we were interested in the observation of the modifications in the damping mechanisms imposed by the number of interfaces in the samples. We were able to identify the main damping mechanisms responsible for the spin relaxation in these materials by ferromagnetic resonance experiments. In order to explain the ferromagnetic resonance linewidth, we considered the extrinsic magnetic relaxation mechanisms in addition to the intrinsic Gilbert damping term, the intrinsic one. The extrinsic magnetic relaxation takes in to account the broadening induced by the magnetic inhomogeneities and is consistent with the two-magnon scattering model and anisotropy dispersions. The contribution from the intrinsic magnetization relaxation is constant in both systems of samples and is not sensible neither to Joule annealing and applied stress in microwires, nor to the increasing of the bilayers number in the films. The extrinsic contribution is very sensible to the anisotropy induction and is a signature of magnetic and structural inhomogeneities. Este trabalho é dedicado ao estudo da relaxação de spin em microfios amorfos recobertos por vidro com composição nominal de CoFeSiB e em filmes multicamadas de Permalloy/Cu. Nos microfios, avaliamos o efeito da indução de anisotropia pela aplicação de tensão mecânica e o efeito do alívio de tensões internas promovido por tratamento térmico aos mecanismos de amortecimento responsáveis pela relaxação de spin. Nos filmes, avaliamos as modificações impostas aos mecanismos de amortecimento quando variamos o número de bicamadas. Identificamos e quantificamos os principais mecanismos responsáveis pela relaxação magnética, através da investigação da largura de linha de ressonância ferromagnética. Para explicar as larguras de linha de ressonância ferromagnética observadas consideramos como mecanismo intrínseco o mecanismo de amortecimento de Gilbert. Como mecanismos extrínsecos consideramos o alargamento da linha de ressonância devido a inomogeneidades magnéticas, consistente com o modelo de espalhamento de mágnons e com a presença de dispersões na anisotropia. O termo intrínseco de relaxação é constante em ambos os conjuntos de amostras estudados, não variando com o tratamento térmico ou tensão aplicada, no caso dos microfios, nem com o aumento do número de bicamadas, no caso dos filmes. A contribuição extrínseca de amortecimento mostrou-se bastante sensível à indução de anisotropias e é uma assinatura das inomogeneidades estruturais e magnéticas presentes nas amostras.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior The aim of this work had to estimate the physical proprieties of the HII region NGC 346 (belonging the Small Magellanic Cloud) and the estimation of electron density at point-to-point to 17 other ionized nebulae, in Magellanic Cloud. We were used spectroscopic images of a long split with high signal noise in the optical region, at red (6 000 to 7 000 °A), and at blue (4 000 to 5 000 °A), this only for NGC 346. The [Oiii] (λ4959+λ5007)/λ4363 emission line ratio was used like electron temperature sensor, and for electron density we used the [S ii] λ6716/λ6731 emission line ratio. For NGC 346, we found a relative homogeneity to distribution of electron temperature, with an average weighted by the Hβ flux of 12 269 K (equivalent to a dispersion of 6,1%). We estimated the spatial temperature fluctuation t2s ≈ 0, 0021 (equivalent to a dispersion of 4,5%), and the temperature fluctuation parameter of 0,0082 (9,2% of dispersion). The magnitude of the temperature fluctuations observed is in agreement with the large scale variations in temperature predicted by standard photoionization models, but is too low to explain the abundance discrepancy problem. By contrast, we found a mean value weighted by the Hα flux for the electron density of 54,18 cm−3 with a dispersion of 13,5%. For the others HII regions studied, we obtained a individual mean electron density relatively low, less than 100 cm−3 for most of the objects and some positions on 30 Doradus. Some profiles have a roughly Gaussian shape for the density distribution, that suggest a free expansion of ionized gas into the interstellar medium, such as the profile of LMC: N160 A (both positions) and SMC: N88 (PA = 90o). A gradient of electron density could indicate the existence of champagne effect, we indentified a light gradient of density on 30 Doradus (PA = 10o and 24o) and LMC: N11 E profiles. Moreover, a variation abruptly in electron density can be understood by the braking action of the ionized gas in its movement toward a molecular cloud. This was evidenced on 30 Doradus (PA = 26o and 10o), LMC: N4 A, LMC: N11 B, SMC: N81, SMC: N83 A,C (both positions) and SMC: N88 (PA = 106o) profiles. These objects stand out as a target for more detailed studies for the greater understanding of the dynamic structures of ionized nebulae. O objetivo desse trabalho foi estimar as propriedades físicas da região HII NGC 346 (pertencente a Pequena Nuvens de Magalhães) e a estimativa de densidade eletrônica ponto-a-ponto para outras 17 nebulosas ionizadas, tanto da Grande quanto da Pequena Nuvem de Magalhães. Foram utilizadas imagens espectroscópicas de fenda longa com alto sinal ruído na região do vermelho (6 000 a 7 000 °A), e do azul (4 000 a 5 000 °A) apenas para NGC 346, ambas as regiões no ótico. O sensor de temperatura eletrônica utilizado foi a razão de linhas do [Oiii] (λ4959 + λ5007)/λ4363, a densidade eletrônica foi obtida por meio da razão de linhas do [S ii] λ6716/λ6731. Para NGC 346 tem-se que os valores de temperatura eletrônica foram relativamente homogêneos, com média ponderada por fluxo em Hβ de 12 269 K (6,1% de dispersão). As flutuações superficiais de temperatura foram de t2s ≈ 0, 0021 (dispersão de 4,5%), e o parâmetro de flutuações de temperatura (t2) de aproximadamente 0,0082 (dispersão de 9,2%). Os resultados obtidos para a baixa dispersão de temperatura eletrônica e flutuações superficiais de temperatura concordam com os valores das variações em larga escala dos modelos de fotoionização. Contudo, tais resultados são insuficientes para explicar o problema da discrepância dos valores de abundância química. A dispersão de densidade eletrônica foi de 13,5% da média ponderada pelo fluxo em Hα (54,18 cm−3). Para as demais regiões HII estudadas obteve-se uma densidade eletrônica mediana individual relativamente baixa, menor que 100 cm−3 para a maioria dos objetos e algumas posições sobre 30 Doradus. Observa-se que alguns perfis apresentam uma forma aproximadamente gaussiana para a distribuição de densidade, sugerindo uma expansão livre do gás ionizado no meio interestelar, como exemplo tem-se os perfis de GNM: N160 A (ambas posições) e PNM: N88 (PA = 90o). A ocorrência de um gradiente de densidade eletrônica nos perfis pode indicar a existência do efeito champagne, um leve gradiente pôde ser percebido para 30 Doradus (PA = 10o e 24o) e GNM: N11 E. Ou ainda, uma queda abrupta na densidade eletrônica também sugere a existência de tal efeito, pois esta queda abrupta pode ser entendida pela ação de freamento do gás ionizado em seu movimento em direção a uma nuvem molecular. Esta ocorrência foi evidenciada nos perfis de 30 Doradus (PA = 26o e 10o), GNM: N4 A, GNM: N11 B, PNM: N81, PNM: N83 A,C (ambas posições) e PNM: N88 (PA = 106o). Estes objetos se destacam como alvo para estudos mais detalhados para o maior compreendimento das estruturas dinâmicas de nebulosas ionizadas.
