Abstract The search for topological superconductivity (TSC) is currently an exciting pursuit, since non-trivial topological superconducting phases could host exotic Majorana modes. However, the difficulty in fabricating proximity-induced TSC heterostructures, the sensitivity to disorder and stringent topological restrictions of intrinsic TSC place serious limitations and formidable challenges on the materials and related applications. Here, we report a new type of intrinsic TSC, namely intrinsic surface topological superconductivity (IS-TSC) and demonstrate it in layered AuSn4 with T c of 2.4 K. Different in-plane and out-of-plane upper critical fields reflect a two-dimensional (2D) character of superconductivity. The two-fold symmetric angular dependences of both magneto-transport and the zero-bias conductance peak (ZBCP) in point-contact spectroscopy (PCS) in the superconducting regime indicate an unconventional pairing symmetry of AuSn4. The superconducting gap and surface multi-bands with Rashba splitting at the Fermi level (E F ), in conjunction with first-principle calculations, strongly suggest that 2D unconventional SC in AuSn4 originates from the mixture of p-wave surface and s-wave bulk contributions, which leads to a two-fold symmetric superconductivity. Our results provide an exciting paradigm to realize TSC via Rashba effect on surface superconducting bands in layered materials.

Abstract With the deepening of the construction of the new type power system, the grid has become increasingly complex, and its safe and stable operation is facing more challenges. In order to improve the quality and efficiency of power grid management, State Grid Corporation continues to promote the digital transformation of the grid, proposing concepts such as cloud-edge-end collaborative architecture and power Internet of Things, for which comprehensive sensing of the grid is an important foundation. Power equipment is widely distributed and has a wide variety of types, and online monitoring of them involves the deployment and application of a large number of power sensors. However, there are various problems in implementing active power supplies for these sensors, which restrict their service life. In order to collect and utilize the vibration energy widely present in the grid to provide power for sensors, this paper proposes an electromagnetic vibration energy harvester and its design methodology based on a four-straight-beam structure, and carries out a trial production of prototype. The vibration pickup unit of the harvester is composed of polyimide cantilevers, a permanent magnet and a mass-adjusting spacer. The mass-adjusting spacer can control the vibration frequency of the vibration unit to match the target frequency. In this paper, a key novel method is proposed to increase the number of turns in a limited volume by stacking flexible coils, which can boost the output voltage of the energy harvester. A test system is built to conduct a performance test for the prototype harvester. According to the test results, the resonant frequency of the device is $$100\ Hz$$ 100 H z , the output peak-to-peak voltage at the resonant frequency is $$2.56\ V$$ 2.56 V at the acceleration of $$1\ g$$ 1 g , and the maximum output power is around $$151.7\ \mu W$$ 151.7 μ W . The proposed four-straight-beam electromagnetic vibration energy harvester in this paper has obvious advantages in output voltage and power compared with state-of-the-art harvesters. It can provide sufficient power for various sensors, support the construction of cloud-edge-end architecture and the deployment of a massive number of power sensors. In the last part of this article, a self-powered transformer vibration monitor is presented, demonstrating the practicality of the proposed vibration energy harvester.

Abstract Sanding production of the underground gas storage (UGS) in the depleted reservoir will cause the decline of effective storage capacity, and the erosion of well string and auxiliary equipment, and other engineering problems. A deep understanding of the sanding production contributes to maintaining the injection and production capacity of gas storage and the long‐term safety of the UGS. In this paper, core samples of five main sedimentary microfacies were drilled from the UGS in middle China. The mechanical properties with different conditions of the moisture content in multi‐cycling injection–production process were tested. The critical drawdown pressure (CDP) calculation methods for the UGS were established based on the stress analysis near the wellbore and the Mogi–Coulomb criterion. Adopting the finite element method simulation on the geological model of the target UGS, the geo‐stress of the formation was calculated by inversed analysis and validated based on the Kaiser effect of rock. Then, the CDP of two target wells of the UGS were investigated. The effects of the water moisture and the cycling times of the injection–production process on the CDP were also analyzed. The geo‐stress distribution shows that the horizontal maximum principal stress ranges from 53 to 68 MPa, and the horizontal minimum principal stress is 46–58 MPa in the target reservoir section, and the vertical minimum principal stress is 69–77 MPa in the target reservoir. The calculated CDP changed with the types of the sedimentary microfacies in the range of [6.27, 8.77] MPa, in which the CDP of the mixed mud and sand flat sedimentary facies was the lowest. The weakness of the CDP with the increasing of the moisture content and the cycling times were analyzed quantitively.

BackgroundMalnutrition, despite being a common complication, is often neglected in patients with hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF). The objective of this study was to develop a simplified nutritional prognostic score to accurately predict mortality in HBV-ACLF patients.MethodsIn this multicenter retrospective study, clinical data from 530 HBV-ACLF patients were used to create a new prognostic score, which was then validated in two external cohorts (n = 229 and 248).ResultsFour independent factors were significantly associated with 28-day mortality in HBV-ACLF patients, forming a novel prognostic score (ALTA score = 0.187 × age—0.849 × lymphocyte count—2.033 × total cholesterol—0.148 × albumin—0.971). Notably, the AUROC of ALTA score for 28/90-day mortality (0.950/0.967) were significantly higher than those of three other ACLF prognostic scores (COSSH-ACLF II, 0.864/0.734; MELD, 0.525/0.488; MELD-Na, 0.546/0.517; all P < 0.001), and three known nutritional scores (CONUT, 0.739/0.861; OPNI, 0.279/0.157; NRS-2002, 0.322/0.286; all P < 0.001). The prediction error rates of ALTA score for 28-day mortality were significantly lower than COSSH-ACLF II (7.3%), MELD (14.4%), MELD-Na (12.7%), CONUT (9.0%), OPNI (30.6%), and NRS2002 (34.1%) scores. Further classifying ALTA score into two strata, the hazard ratios of mortality at 28/90 days were notably increased in the high-risk groups compared to the low-risk group (15.959 and 5.740). These results were then validated in two external cohorts.ConclusionALTA, as a simplified nutritional prognostic score for HBV-ACLF, demonstrates superiority over the COSSH-ACLF II and other scores in predicting short-term mortality among HBV-ACLF patients. Therefore, it may be used to guide clinical management, particularly in primary care settings.

Abstract The quantum mechanisms how life efficiently utilizes energy and transmits information remain unclear yet. Frequency medicine, an emerging cross‐discipline of both quantum mechanics and biomedicine, is a promising turning point for biomaterials and medicine developing from the matter level to the energy level. Recognizing the pivotal role of molecular vibrational frequencies in resonant energy coupling and transmission underscores the potential of frequency medicine to precisely regulate biomaterial vibrations, influencing interactions and reactions in living organisms. At present, scientists have unveiled sophisticated phototherapeutics; nevertheless, their advancement necessitates the precise mapping of the life energy. In contrast to genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics studied on the matter level, omics of frequencies related to medicine should be on the energy level. Herein, starting from the history of frequency medicine, and followed by the introduction of vibrational strong coupling applications in life sciences, we emphasize the significance, necessity, and urgency of studying spatiotemporal omics of medicine frequencies. By decoding the energy atlas of life, we can acquire profound insights into the quantum mechanisms that govern life processes from an energy standpoint. We anticipate that the integration of biomaterials with spatiotemporal frequency omics related to medical research will contribute significantly to advancing the goals of precision medicine, potentially revolutionizing pharmaceuticals, such as terahertz drugs.

IntroductionContinuous cropping affected the stability of soil enzyme activity and the structural characteristics of microbial community. Owing to challenges in the study of complex rhizosphere microbial communities, the composition and function of these microbial communities in farmland ecosystems remain elusive. Here, we studied the microbial communities of the rhizosphere of wine grapes with different years of continuous cropping and investigated their relationships with soil enzyme activity.MethodsMetagenomic sequencing was conducted on the rhizosphere soils from one uncultivated wasteland and four vineyards with varying durations of continuous cropping.ResultsThe predominant microbial were bacteria (98.39%), followed by archaea (1.15%) and eukaryotes (0.45%). Continuous cropping caused a significant increase in the relative abundance of Rhizobiales and Micrococcales but a marked decrease in Solirubrobacterales. At the genus level, 75, 88, 65, 132, and 128 microbial genera were unique to uncultivated wasteland, 5, 10, 15, and 20 years of continuous cropping, respectively. The relative abundance of genes with signal transduction function was the highest. The activity of all enzymes measured in this study peaked at 5 years of continuous cropping, and then decreased with 10 to 15 year of continuous cropping, but increased at 20 years again. In addition, soil enzyme activity, especially of alkaline phosphatase was significantly correlated with the diversity of the dominant microorganisms at the genus level. Moreover, the coupled enzyme activities had a greater impact on the diversity of the microbial community than that of individual enzymes.ConclusionOur findings reveal the composition and function of the soil microbial communities and enzymes activity in response to changes in cropping years, which has important implications for overcoming continuous cropping obstacles and optimizing land use.

Applying community detection algorithms in spatial interaction networks constructed from modern human communication records is an essential means of evaluating urban territorial subdivisions. Previous studies have usually involved qualitative rather than quantitative interpretations of community detection results. This article proposes a method of quantitatively and qualitatively interpreting community partition results by map overlaying the spatial regions corresponding to the detected communities with the related geographical features and by calculating the distribution of the geographical features contained in the regions and the entropy value of each distribution. The interpretation of the communities detected from the spatial interaction networks is carried out from the perspective of multi-temporal and multi-spatial scales and multi-geographical features. Extensive experiments were conducted with Milan, Italy, as the study area. The spatial interaction records reflected by telephone calls, land use, and point of interest (POI) data were used as the experimental data. Experimental results demonstrated the effectiveness of our method, and the specific results include: (1) Qualitative interpretation of multi-spatial resolution scale communities detected from the long-term aggregated spatial interaction network. The cohesiveness, homogeneity, and heterogeneity of the detected communities were qualitatively interpreted by the spatial distribution patterns of the land use dataset and the POI dataset. (2) Quantitative interpretation of multi-spatial resolution scale communities detected from the long-term aggregated spatial interaction network. The low spatial resolution scale community partitions and the high spatial resolution scale community partitions were interpreted through the statistical distribution of the land use dataset and the POI dataset, respectively. (3) Qualitative interpretation of the stable and active regions discovered from the community time series. Regardless of the community partitions’ spatial resolution scales, the stable and active regions were distinguished with the statistical distributions of the land use dataset and the POI dataset.

Physical dormancy (PY) commonly present in the seeds of higher plants is believed to be responsible for the germination failure by impermeable seed coat in hard seeds of legume species, instead of physiological dormancy (PD). In this study, a non-destructive approach involving multispectral imaging was used to successfully identify hard seeds from non-hard seeds in Medicago sativa, with accuracy as high as 96.8%–99.0%. We further adopted multiple-omics strategies to investigate the differences of physiology, metabolomics, methylomics, and transcriptomics in alfalfa hard seeds, with non-hard seeds as control. The hard seeds showed dramatically increased antioxidants and 125 metabolites of significant differences in non-targeted metabolomics analysis, which are enriched in the biosynthesis pathways of flavonoids, lipids and hormones, especially with significantly higher ABA, a hormone known to induce dormancy. In our transcriptomics results, the enrichment pathway of “response to abscisic acid” of differential expressed genes (DEG) supported the key role of ABA in metabolomics results. The methylome analysis identified 54,899, 46,216 and 54,452 differential methylation regions for contexts of CpG, CHG and CHH, and 344 DEGs might be regulated by hypermethylation and hypomethylation of promoter and exon regions, including four ABA- and JA-responsive genes. Among 8% hard seeds in seed lots, 24.5% still did not germinate after scarifying seed coat, and were named as non-PY hard seeds. Compared to hard seeds, significantly higher contents of ABA/IAA and ABA/JA were identified in non-PY hard seeds, which indicated the potential presence of PD. In summary, the significantly changed metabolites, gene expressions, and methylations all suggested involvement of ABA responses in hard seeds, and germination failure of alfalfa hard seeds was caused by combinational dormancy (PY + PD), rather than PY alone.

Abstract Leaf rust, caused by Puccinia triticina Eriksson (Pt), is one of the most severe foliar diseases of wheat. Breeding for leaf rust resistance is a practical and sustainable method to control this devastating disease. Here, we report the identification of Lr47, a broadly effective leaf rust resistance gene introgressed into wheat from Aegilops speltoides. Lr47 encodes a coiled-coil nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat protein that is both necessary and sufficient to confer Pt resistance, as demonstrated by loss-of-function mutations and transgenic complementation. Lr47 introgression lines with no or reduced linkage drag are generated using the Pairing homoeologous1 mutation, and a diagnostic molecular marker for Lr47 is developed. The coiled-coil domain of the Lr47 protein is unable to induce cell death, nor does it have self-protein interaction. The cloning of Lr47 expands the number of leaf rust resistance genes that can be incorporated into multigene transgenic cassettes to control this devastating disease.

Abstract With the emergence of new information and communication technology, mobile‐based ridesharing services have received more attention and have improved. They offer timely and convenient service and exert an enormous influence on pollution and congestion by allowing passengers to share overlapping routes. However, ridesharing services have also been discussed and called into question by people with respect to their attractiveness, their comfort, and passenger safety. This paper proposes a ridesharing algorithm with a perceived mechanism by introducing multiple dimensions of perceived value to overall assess passengers’ perceptions. The approach involved can continuously track the psychological changes in passengers during travel, capture the dynamic and comprehensive perceptions of passengers, and make real‐time adjustments on this basis. Furthermore, the proposed partition‐based parallel strategy can ensure high‐quality services and further enhance computational efficiency. Finally, numerical experiments are conducted based on the urban transportation network and the actual trip data from Manhattan to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. The results show that it is important to effectively capture the passengers’ perception of ridesharing services and apply them to optimization mechanisms, which will contribute to improving the perception of ride experiences and attracting potential passengers.

Abstract Objectives To compare the inter-modality consistency and diagnostic performances of the contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) and contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) LI-RADS in patients at risk for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), so as to help clinicians to select a more appropriate modality to follow the focal liver lesions (FLLs). Methods This retrospective study included untreated 277 FLLs from 247 patients who underwent both CEUS and CECT within 1 month. The ultrasound contrast medium used was SonoVue. FLL categories were independently assigned by two ultrasound physicians and two radiologists using CEUS LI-RADS v2017 and CECT LI-RADS v2018, respectively. The diagnostic performances of CEUS and CECT LI-RADS were evaluated using sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value. Abstract Many of the currently available COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutics are not effective against newly emerged SARS-CoV-2 variants. Here, we developed the metallo-enzyme domain of angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2)—the cellular receptor of SARS-CoV-2—into an IgM-like inhalable molecule (HH-120). HH-120 binds to the SARS-CoV-2 Spike (S) protein with high avidity and confers potent and broad-spectrum neutralization activity against all known SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern. HH-120 was developed as an inhaled formulation that achieves appropriate aerodynamic properties for rodent and monkey respiratory system delivery, and we found that early administration of HH-120 by aerosol inhalation significantly reduced viral loads and lung pathology scores in male golden Syrian hamsters infected by the SARS-CoV-2 ancestral strain (GDPCC-nCoV27) and the Delta variant. Our study presents a meaningful advancement in the inhalation delivery of large biologics like HH-120 (molecular weight (MW) ~ 1000 kDa) and demonstrates that HH-120 can serve as an efficacious, safe, and convenient agent against SARS-CoV-2 variants. Finally, given the known role of ACE2 in viral reception, it is conceivable that HH-120 has the potential to be efficacious against additional emergent coronaviruses.

The most critical aspect of panorama generation is maintaining local semantic consistency. Objects may be projected from different depths in the captured image. When warping the image to a unified canvas, pixels at the semantic boundaries of the different views are significantly misaligned. We propose two lightweight strategies to address this challenge efficiently. First, the original image is segmented as superpixels rather than regular grids to preserve the structure of each cell. We propose effective cost functions to generate the warp matrix for each superpixel. The warp matrix varies progressively for smooth projection, which contributes to a more faithful reconstruction of object structures. Second, to deal with artifacts introduced by stitching, we use a seam line method tailored to superpixels. The algorithm takes into account the feature similarity of neighborhood superpixels, including color difference, structure and entropy. We also consider the semantic information to avoid semantic misalignment. The optimal solution constrained by the cost functions is obtained under a graph model. The resulting stitched images exhibit improved naturalness. Extensive testing on common panorama stitching datasets is performed on the algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm effectively mitigates artifacts, preserves the completeness of semantics and produces panoramic images with a subjective quality that is superior to that of alternative methods.

Calmodulin (Calm), a crucial Ca2+ sensor, plays an important role in calcium-dependent signal transduction cascades. However, the expression and the relevance of Calm in stress and immune response have not been characterized in Megalobrama amblycephala. In this study, we identified the full-length cDNA of Calm (termed MaCalm) in blunt snout bream M. amblycephala, and analyzed MaCalm expression patterns in response to cadmium and Aeromonas hydrophila challenges. MaCalm was 1603 bp long, including a 5′-terminal untranslated region (UTR) of 97 bp, a 3′-terminal UTR of 1056 bp and an open reading frame (ORF) of 450 bp encoding a polypeptide of 149 amino acids with a calculated molecular weight (MW) of 16.84 kDa and an isoelectric point (pI) of 4.09. Usually, MaCalm contains four conservative EF hand motifs. The phylogenetic tree analysis indicated that the nucleotide sequence of MaCalm specifically clustered with Ctenopharyngodon idella with high identity (98.33%). Tissue distribution analysis demonstrated that the ubiquitous expression of MaCalm mRNA was found in all tested tissues, with the highest expression in the brain and the lowest expression in muscle. MaCalm showed significant upregulation at 14 d and 28 d post exposure to varying concentrations of cadmium in the liver; HSP70 transcripts in the liver significantly upregulated at 14 d post exposure to different concentrations of cadmium. Moreover, in response to the A. hydrophila challenge in vivo, MaCalm transcripts in the liver first increased and then decreased, but MaCalm transcripts in the kidney declined gradually with prolonged infection. After the A. hydrophila challenge, the expression level of HSP70 was significantly downregulated at 24 h in the liver and its expression level was notably downregulated at 12 h and at 24 h in the kidney. Collectively, our results suggest that MaCalm possesses vital roles in stress and immune response in M. amblycephala.

Taking the AquaCrop crop model as the research object, considering the complexity and uncertainty of the crop growth process, the crop model can only achieve more accurate simulation on a single point scale. In order to improve the application scale of the crop model, this study inverted the canopy coverage of a tea garden based on UAV multispectral technology, adopted the particle swarm optimization algorithm to assimilate the canopy coverage and crop model, constructed the AquaCrop-PSO assimilation model, and compared the canopy coverage and yield simulation results with the localized model simulation results. It is found that there is a significant regression relationship between all vegetation indices and canopy coverage. Among the single vegetation index regression models, the logarithmic model constructed by OSAVI has the highest inversion accuracy, with an R2 of 0.855 and RMSE of 5.75. The tea yield was simulated by the AquaCrop-PSO model and the measured values of R2 and RMSE were 0.927 and 0.12, respectively. The canopy coverage R2 of each simulated growth period basically exceeded 0.9, and the accuracy of the simulation results was improved by about 19.8% compared with that of the localized model. The results show that the accuracy of crop model simulation can be improved effectively by retrieving crop parameters and assimilating crop models through UAV remote sensing.

BackgroundPerfluorinated compounds (PFCs) are persistent organic pollutants. Dietary exposure to PFCs among pregnant women may lead to elevated risks of adverse events during pregnancy and postpartum depression. ObjectiveTo estimate potential risk of dietary exposure to PFCs among pregnant women in Xuhui District, Shanghai, and the relationship between dietary PFCs exposure and risks of adverse events during pregnancy and postpartum depression. MethodsThis study was a small cohort study which recruited women residing in Xuhui District from July 2017 to September 2018. All information was collected through questionnaires by trained investigators. Basic information and dietary information were collected at the time of inclusion, where the dietary information was obtained through the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). A follow-up visit was conducted within 42 d after delivery to collect the occurrence of adverse events during pregnancy and postpartum depression. According to the results of dietary survey, sampling and PFCs level testing were conducted on commercially available staple foods, poultry and livestock meat, aquatic products, vegetables, milk and dairy products, eggs, etc. The food sampling points covered all subdistricts in Xuhui District, including farmers' markets, supermarkets, convenience stores, and shops. Daily exposure level and hazard ratio (HR) of PFCs per capita were calculated according to the dietary survey and laboratory testing. Logistic regression was used to estimate the relationship between PFCs exposure and the risks of adverse events during pregnancy and postpartum depression. The levels of PFCs exposure were further divided into 4 groups according to interquartile range, and OR and Ptrend value were calculated respectively. ResultsA total of 345 pregnant women were recruited in this study, whose average age was (29.61±4.92) years. Among them, 26.37% subjects reported at least one adverse event during pregnancy, and 30.14% subjects reported an Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) score ≥12. A total of 132 food samples were collected and tested, and PFCs were positive mainly in milk and dairy products, poultry meat, livestock meat, eggs, fresh water products, and sea water products. The PFCs positive rate in fresh water products was the highest, reaching 100%. The average concentration of PFCs in the positive samples was 0.018-2.10 μg·kg−1. The HR of PFCs was 4.44. A higher risk of postpartum depression was found along with a higher perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) exposure level (Ptrend=0.02). ConclusionDietary PFCs exposure may pose a health risk to pregnant women. The study findings suggest that decreasing the intake of freshwater products might help reduce the risk of PFCs exposure among pregnant women in Xuhui district, Shanghai.

Abstract Background and Aim The biological functions and clinical implications of lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase 1 (LPCAT1) remain unclarified in gastric cancer (GC). The aim of the current study was to explore the possible clinicopathological significance of LPCAT1 and its perspective mechanism in GC tissues. Materials and Methods The protein expression and mRNA levels of LPCAT1 were detected from in‐house immunohistochemistry and public high‐throughput RNA arrays and RNA sequencing. To have a comprehensive understanding of the clinical value of LPCAT1 in GC, all enrolled data were integrated to calculate the expression difference and standard mean difference (SMD). The biological mechanism of LPCAT1 in GC was confirmed by computational biology and in vitro experiments. Migration and invasion assays were also conducted to confirm the effect of LPCAT1 in GC. Results Both protein and mRNA expression levels of LPCAT1 in GC were remarkably higher than those in noncancerous controls. Comprehensively, the SMD of LPCAT1 mRNA was 1.11 (95% CI = 0.86–1.36) in GC, and the summarized AUC was 0.85 based on 15 datasets containing 1727 cases of GC and 940 cases of non‐GC controls. Moreover, LPCAT1 could accelerate the invasion and migration of GC by boosting the neutrophil degranulation pathway and disturbing the immune microenvironment. Conclusion An increased level of LPCAT1 may promote the progression of GC.

ABSTRACTThe tectonic environment of granitoids has always been a concern of the academic community. The Nb vs. Y and Rb vs. Nb+Y diagrams have had a substantial impact. The present work uses more than 110,000 granitoid samples (SiO2 ≥ 56%) from the globally shared database to discuss the validity and also explain why these diagrams used for discrimination between the different tectonic settings of granitoid rocks. The amount of data from the spreading center is sparse and the data are highly scattered and so, the present study focuses mainly on granites from the ocean islands and convergent margins tectonic environments. On the TAS diagram most of the ocean island data are alkaline series and trachy-basalt series, and some are bimodal. In contrast, the granitoids on the convergent margin are mainly sub-alkaline. This work shows that the tectonic discrimination diagrams of granitoids remain valid, and only the boundaries need to be slightly adjusted.
