Consumers rely on flavor characteristics to distinguish different types of Qingke Baijiu (QKBJ). Clarifying QKBJ's traits enhances its recognition and long-term growth. Thus, this study analyzed eight QKBJ samples from different regions of Tibet (Lhasa, Sannan, Shigatse, and Qamdo) using GC–MS, electronic nose and electronic tongue. The radar charts of the electronic tongue and electronic nose revealed highly similar profiles for all eight samples. Fifteen common compounds were found in all samples, with the main alcohol compounds being 3-Methyl-1-butanol, 1-hexanol, isobutanol, 1-butanol, 1-nonanol, and phenylethyl alcohol, imparting fruity, floral, and herbal aromas. However, the Sannan samples had higher total alcohol content than total ester content, emphasizing bitterness. Lhasa1 exhibited the most prominent sweetness, Lhasa2 the most noticeable sourness, and Qamdo the most pronounced umami. Lhasa3 and Lhasa4 had total acid content second only to total ester content. Tyd had the highest alkanes, while Lhasa had most aldehydes among samples.

Microbial composition plays an important role in the quality and flavor of bacon. The aims of this study were to detect bacterial community succession using high-throughput sequencing (HTS) and volatile flavor compound changes using gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (GC-IMS) during the production of Zhenba bacon. The results showed that a total of 70 volatile compounds were detected. Among them, ketones, hydrocarbons, aldehydes, esters and alcohols were the main substances in the curing and smoking stages. In addition, the fungal abundance was greater than the bacterial abundance, and there was obvious succession of the microbial community with changes in fermentation time and processing technology. The main functional bacterial genera in the curing and smoking stages were Staphylococcus, Psychrobacter and Latilactobacillus, and the main fungal genera were Fusarium and Debaryomyces. Aim: To assesses the cost–effectiveness of sotagliflozin for the treatment of patients hospitalized with heart failure and comorbid diabetes. Materials & methods: A de novo cost–effectiveness model with a Markov structure was created for patients hospitalized for heart failure with comorbid diabetes. Outcomes of interest included hospital readmissions, emergency department visits and all-cause mortality measured over a 30-year time horizon. Baseline event frequencies were derived from published real-world data studies; sotagliflozin’s efficacy was estimated from SOLOIST-WHF. Health benefits were calculated quality-adjusted life years (QALYs). Costs included pharmaceutical costs, rehospitalization, emergency room visits and adverse events. Economic value was measured using the incremental cost–effectiveness ratio (ICER). Results: Sotagliflozin use decreased annualized rehospitalization rates by 34.5% (0.228 vs 0.348, difference: -0.120), annualized emergency department visits by 40.0% (0.091 vs 0.153, difference: -0.061) and annualized mortality by 18.0% (0.298 vs 0.363, difference: -0.065) relative to standard of care, resulting in a net gain in QAYs of 0.425 for sotagliflozin versus standard of care. Incremental costs using sotagliflozin increased by $19,374 over a 30-year time horizon of the patient, driven largely by increased pharmaceutical cost. Estimated ICER for sotagliflozin relative to standard of care was $45,596 per QALY. Conclusion: Sotagliflozin is a cost-effective addition to standard of care for patients hospitalized with heart failure and comorbid diabetes.

Abstract Porous aromatic framework 1 (PAF‐1) is an extremely representative nanoporous organic framework owing to its high stability and exceptionally high surface area. Currently, the synthesis of PAF‐1 is catalyzed by the Ni(COD)2/COD/bpy system, suffering from great instability and high cost. Herein, we developed an in situ reduction of the Ni(II) catalytic system to synthesize PAF‐1 in low cost and high yield. The active Ni(0) species produced from the NiCl2/bpy/NaI/Mg catalyst system can effectively catalyze homocoupling of tetrakis(4‐bromophenyl)methane at the room temperature to form PAF‐1 with high Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET)‐specific surface area up to 4948 m2 g−1 (Langmuir surface area, 6785 m2 g−1). The possible halogen exchange and dehalogenation coupling mechanisms for this new catalytic process in PAF's synthesis are discussed in detail. The efficiency and universality of this innovative catalyst system have also been demonstrated in other PAFs' synthesis. This work provides a cheap, facile, and efficient method for scalable synthesis of PAFs and explores their application for high‐pressure storage of Xe and Kr.

The use of bisphenol A (BPA) has been restricted due to its endocrine-disrupting effects. As a widely used alternative to BPA today, environmental levels of bisphenol Z (BPZ) continue to rise and accumulate in humans. Oocyte quality is critical for a successful pregnancy. Nevertheless, the toxic impacts of BPZ on the maturation of mammalian oocytes remain unexplored. Therefore, the impacts of BPZ and BPA on oocyte meiotic maturation were compared in an in vitro mouse oocyte culture model. Exposure to 150 μM of both BPZ and BPA disrupted the assembly of the meiotic spindle and the alignment of chromosomes, and BPZ exerted stronger toxicological effects than BPA. Furthermore, BPZ resulted in aberrant expression of F-actin, preventing the formation of the actin cap. Mechanistically, BPZ exposure disrupted the mitochondrial localization pattern, reduced mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP content, leading to impaired mitochondrial function. Further studies revealed that BPZ exposure resulted in oxidative stress and altered expression of genes associated with anti-oxidative stress. Moreover, BPZ induced severe DNA damage and triggered early apoptosis in oocytes, accompanied by impaired lysosomal function. Overall, the data in this study suggest that BPZ is not a safe alternative to BPA. BPZ can trigger early apoptosis by affecting mitochondrial function and causing oxidative stress and DNA damage in oocytes. These processes disrupt cytoskeletal assembly, arrest the cell cycle, and ultimately inhibit oocyte meiotic maturation.

AimsWhite matter damage (WMD) is linked to both cerebral palsy and cognitive deficits in infants born prematurely. The focus of this study was to examine how caffeine influences the acetylation of proteins within the neonatal white matter and to evaluate its effectiveness in treating white matter damage caused by hypoxia-ischemia.Main methodsWe employed a method combining affinity enrichment with advanced liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry to profile acetylation in proteins from the white matter of neonatal rats grouped into control (Sham), hypoxic-ischemic (HI), and caffeine-treated (Caffeine) groups.Key findingsOur findings included 1,999 sites of lysine acetylation across 1,123 proteins, with quantifiable changes noted in 1,342 sites within 689 proteins. Analysis of these patterns identified recurring sequences adjacent to the acetylation sites, notably YKacN, FkacN, and G *** GkacS. Investigation into the biological roles of these proteins through Gene Ontology analysis indicated their involvement in a variety of cellular processes, predominantly within mitochondrial locations. Further analysis indicated that the acetylation of tau (Mapt), a protein associated with microtubules, was elevated in the HI condition; however, caffeine treatment appeared to mitigate this over-modification, thus potentially aiding in reducing oxidative stress, inflammation in the nervous system, and improving mitochondrial health. Caffeine inhibited acetylated Mapt through sirtuin 2 (SITR2), promoted Mapt nuclear translocation, and improved mitochondrial dysfunction, which was subsequently weakened by the SIRT2 inhibitor, AK-7.SignificanceCaffeine-induced changes in lysine acetylation may play a key role in improving mitochondrial dysfunction and inhibiting oxidative stress and neuroinflammation.

Insights into the interdisciplinary response to scientific collaboration remain scarce in interdisciplinary fields. The present work focuses on the effect of scientific collaboration on disciplinary diversity in the field of climate change using multiple statistical methods. The results show that research collaboration at the author and country/region levels has significantly positive effects on variety and DIV (an integrated diversity indicator), although these effects are limited. Additionally, the associations between the values of variety, disparity, and DIV and the number of departments are significantly positive, and similar results are found regarding relationships between these indicators and the number of countries/regions at the country/region and integrated levels. However, scientific collaboration has a negative effect on the balance of references at all levels. This study can improve our understanding of how scientific collaboration affects the multidimensional aspects of interdisciplinary research, and facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration in the future.

Abstract Background We conducted a large-scale epidemiological analysis to investigate the associations between systemic inflammation markers and hypertension prevalence. Our aim is to identify potential biomarkers for early detection of hypertension. Methods A cross-sectional study with 119664 individuals from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey was performed. We investigated the associations between three systemic inflammation markers, namely the systemic immune inflammation index (SII), system inflammation response index (SIRI), and aggregate index of systemic inflammation (AISI), and the prevalence of hypertension. Results The prevalence rates of hypertension gradually increased with increasing logSII, logSIRI, and logAISI quartiles. In continuous analyses, each unit increase in logSII, logSIRI, and logAISI was associated with a 20.3%, 20.1%, and 23.7% increased risk of hypertension. Compared to those in the lowest quartiles, the hypertension risks for subjects in the highest logSII, logSIRI, and logAISI quartiles were 1.114-fold,1.143-fold, and 1.186-fold. The restricted cubic splines (RCS) analysis revealed a non-linear relationship between the elevation of systemic inflammation markers and hypertension prevalence. Specifically, a per standard deviation increase in any of these variables is associated with a respective 9%, 16%, and 11% increase in hypertension prevalence. Conclusion Our cross-sectional study reveals significant positive correlations between SII, SIRI, and AISI with the prevalence of hypertension.

Abstract Human cancer cell lines have long served as tools for cancer research and drug discovery, but the presence and the source of intra-cell-line heterogeneity remain elusive. Here, we perform single-cell RNA-sequencing and ATAC-sequencing on 42 and 39 human cell lines, respectively, to illustrate both transcriptomic and epigenetic heterogeneity within individual cell lines. Our data reveal that transcriptomic heterogeneity is frequently observed in cancer cell lines of different tissue origins, often driven by multiple common transcriptional programs. Copy number variation, as well as epigenetic variation and extrachromosomal DNA distribution all contribute to the detected intra-cell-line heterogeneity. Using hypoxia treatment as an example, we demonstrate that transcriptomic heterogeneity could be reshaped by environmental stress. Overall, our study performs single-cell multi-omics of commonly used human cancer cell lines and offers mechanistic insights into the intra-cell-line heterogeneity and its dynamics, which would serve as an important resource for future cancer cell line-based studies.

Abstract Background A large collection of dialogues between patients and doctors must be annotated for medical named entities to build intelligence for telemedicine. However, since most patients involved in telemedicine deliver related named entities in informal and long multiword expressions, it is challenging to tag their telemedicine dialogue data. This study aims to address this issue. Methods With the telemedicine dialogue dataset for obstetrics and gynecology taken from haodf.com, we developed guidelines and followed a two-round procedure to tag six types of named entities, including disease, symptom, time, pharmaceutical, operation, and examination. Additionally, we developed four deep-learning models based on this dataset to establish a benchmark for named-entity recognition (NER). Results The distilled obstetrics and gynecology dataset contains 2,383 consultations between doctors and patients, of which 13,411 sentences were from doctors, and 17,929 were from patients. With 63,560 named entities in total, the average number of characters per named entity is 4.33. The experimental results suggest that LatticeLSTM performs best on our dataset in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F score. Conclusion Compared with other datasets, this dataset offers three novel facets. This study offers intricately tagged long multiword expressions for medical named entities. Second, this study is one of the first attempts to mark temporal entities in a medical dataset. Third, this annotated dataset is balanced across the six types of labels, which we believe will play a considerable role in expanding telemedicine artificial intelligence.

Abstract Background Good medication compliance is very important for the prognosis of children with epilepsy. We aimed to evaluate the status and influencing factors of medication compliance in children with epilepsy and to provide insights to the clinical nursing care of children with epilepsy. Methods We selected epileptic children admitted to Children’s Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from February 1, 2022 to August 31, 2022. Self-designed questionnaire and medication compliance scale were used to evaluate the characteristics and medication compliance of children with epilepsy. Pearson correlation analysis and multivariate logistic regression were used to analyze the influencing factors of medication compliance. Results A total of 156 children with epilepsy were included, the incidence of poor compliance in children with epilepsy was 37.18%. Abstract Background With advanced maternal age, abnormalities during oocyte meiosis increase significantly. Aneuploidy is an important reason for the reduction in the quality of aged oocytes. However, the molecular mechanism of aneuploidy in aged oocytes is far from understood. Histone acetyltransferase 1 (HAT1) has been reported to be essential for mammalian development and genome stability, and involved in multiple organ aging. Whether HAT1 is involved in ovarian aging and the detailed mechanisms remain to be elucidated. Methods The level of HAT1 in aged mice ovaries was detected by immunohistochemical and immunoblotting. To explore the function of HAT1 in the process of mouse oocyte maturation, we used Anacardic Acid (AA) and small interfering RNAs (siRNA) to culture cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) from ICR female mice in vitro and gathered statistics of germinal vesicle breakdown (GVBD), the first polar body extrusion (PBE), meiotic defects, aneuploidy, 2-cell embryos formation, and blastocyst formation rate. Moreover, the human granulosa cell (GC)-like line KGN cells were used to investigate the mechanisms of HAT1 in this progress. Results HAT1 was highly expressed in ovarian granulosa cells (GCs) from young mice and the expression of HAT1 was significantly decreased in aged GCs. AA and siRNAs mediated inhibition of HAT1 in GCs decreased the PBE rate, and increased meiotic defects and aneuploidy in oocytes. Further studies showed that HAT1 could acetylate Forkhead box transcription factor O1 (FoxO1), leading to the translocation of FoxO1 into the nucleus. Resultantly, the translocation of acetylated FoxO1 increased the expression of amphiregulin (AREG) in GCs, which plays a significant role in oocyte meiosis. Conclusion The present study suggests that decreased expression of HAT1 in GCs is a potential reason corresponding to oocyte age-related meiotic defects and provides a potential therapeutic target for clinical intervention to reduce aneuploid oocytes.

Abstract Zinc finger protein 281 (ZNF281) has been shown to promote tumor progression. However, the underlying mechanism remains to be further elucidated. In this study, ZNF281 knockdown increased the expression of mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells, accompanied with increment of mitochondrial content, oxygen consumption rate (OCR) and levels of TCA cycle intermetabolites. Mechanistic investigation revealed that ZNF281 suppressed the transcription of TFAM, nuclear respiratory factor 1 (NRF1) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator-1α (PGC-1α). Furthermore, ZNF281 interacted with NRF1 and PGC-1α, and was recruited onto the promoter regions of TFAM, TFB1M and TFB2M repressing their expression. Knockdown of TFAM reversed ZNF281 depletion induced up-regulation of mitochondrial biogenesis and function, as well as impaired epithelial mesenchymal transition, invasion and metastasis of HCC cells. Our research uncovered a novel suppressive function of ZNF281 on mitochondrial biogenesis through inhibition of the NRF1/PGC-1α-TFAM axis, which may hold therapeutic potentials for HCC.

Abstract Extensive investigations in outer space have revealed not only how life adapts to the space environment, but also that interesting biophysical phenomena occur. These phenomena affect human health and other life forms (animals, plants, bacteria, and fungi), and to ensure the safety of future human space exploration need to be further investigated. This calls for joint research efforts between biologists and physicists, as these phenomena present cross-disciplinary barriers. Various national organizations provide useful forums for bridging this gap. Additional discussion avenues and database resources are helpful for facilitating the interdisciplinary investigations of these phenomena. In this paper, we present the newly established Space Life Investigation Database (SpaceLID, https://bidd.group/spacelid/ ) which provides information about biophysical phenomena occurring in space. Examples obtained using the database are given while discussing the underlying causes of these phenomena and their implications for the physiology and health of life in space.

In high-resolution remote sensing images, there are areas with weak textures such as large building roofs, which occupy a large number of pixels in the image. These areas pose a challenge for traditional semantic segmentation networks to obtain ideal results. Common strategies like downsampling, patch cropping, and cascade models often sacrifice fine details or global context, resulting in limited accuracy. To address these issues, a novel semantic segmentation framework has been designed specifically for large-format high-resolution remote sensing images by aggregating global and local features in this paper. The framework consists of two branches: one branch deals with low-resolution downsampled images to capture global features, while the other branch focuses on cropped patches to extract high-resolution local details. Also, this paper introduces a feature aggregation module based on the Transformer structure, which effectively aggregates global and local information. Additionally, to save GPU memory usage, a novel three-step training method has been developed. Extensive experiments on two public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, with an IoU of 90.83% on the AIDS dataset and 90.30% on the WBDS dataset, surpassing state-of-the-art methods such as DANet, DeepLab v3+, U-Net, ViT, TransUNet, CMTFNet, and UANet.

Rapeseed is a crucial oil crop globally, and in recent years, abiotic stress has increasingly affected its growth, development, yield, and quality. Salt stress is a significant abiotic factor that restricts crop production. The EPF gene family is vital in managing salt stress by controlling stomatal development and opening, which reduces water loss and increases plant salt tolerance. To explore the features of the EPF gene family in Brassica napus and their expression under salt stress, this study utilized Arabidopsis EPF protein sequences as seed sequences, including their PF17181 and PF16851 domains. A total of 27 members of the EPF gene family were detected within the rapeseed genome. The study examined the physicochemical properties, gene structure, phylogenetic relationships, and collinearity of BnEPFs. Through transcriptomes, we employed the qPCR method to determine the relative expression levels of BnEPF genes potentially associated with rapeseed stress resistance under both non-salt and salt stress conditions. Subsequently, we assessed their influence on rapeseed plants subjected to salt stress. During salt stress conditions, all BnEPF genes displayed a downregulation trend, indicating their potential impact on stomatal development and signal transduction pathways, consequently improving rapeseed’s resistance to salt stress. The study findings establish a basis for exploring the roles of BnEPFs and offer candidate genes for breeding stress-resistant varieties and enhancing the yield in rapeseed.

Tourist preferences for public spaces in historic districts can reflect whether renovated spaces and functional structures meet tourism demands. However, conventional big data lack the spatio-temporal accuracy needed to support a refined, dynamic study of small-scale public spaces inside historic districts. This paper, therefore, proposes using a Wi-Fi probe to evaluate the spatio-temporal dynamics of tourists’ spatial preferences in historic districts. We conducted a one-week measurement in the Xiaohe Street Historic Block in Hangzhou, China. Three indicators—visit time preference, aggregation preference, and stay preference—were used to examine the dynamic change in tourists’ spatial preferences, with 15 min as the time unit and public spaces with a radius of 25 m as the spatial unit. Our research demonstrates that, compared with conventional big data, the Wi-Fi probe offers a more reasonable and accurate method to measure tourists’ spatial preferences in historic districts at a smaller time and spatial granularity. The research findings can be applied to evaluate the effectiveness of spatial regeneration and diagnose renewal-related issues in historic districts. It can also serve as a foundation for more precise planning of public spaces in historic districts, as well as the modification of functional structures.

Abstract Objective Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem‐involved, highly heterogeneous autoimmune disease with diverse clinical manifestations. We report an extremely rare case of SLE with severe diffuse myocardial hypertrophy. Methods The patientʼs echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) results indicated diffuse myocardial hypertrophy. After excluding coronary atherosclerosis, hypertensive cardiomyopathy, drug toxicity, and other causes, the patient was diagnosed with SLE‐specific cardiomyopathy. Medications such as hormones, antimalarials, immunosuppressants, and biologics were administered. Ischemic stroke (IS) is a major cause of mortality and disability among adults. Recanalization of blood vessels to facilitate timely reperfusion is the primary clinical approach; however, reperfusion itself may trigger cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. Emerging evidence strongly implicates the NLRP3 inflammasome as a potential therapeutic target, playing a key role in cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury. The aberrant expression and function of NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated inflammation in cerebral ischemia have garnered considerable attention as a recent research focus. Accordingly, this review provides a comprehensive summary of the signaling pathways, pathological mechanisms, and intricate interactions involving NLRP3 inflammasomes in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. Moreover, notable progress has been made in investigating the impact of natural plant products (e.g., Proanthocyanidins, methylliensinine, salidroside, α-asarone, acacia, curcumin, morin, ginsenoside Rd, paeoniflorin, breviscapine, sulforaphane, etc.) on regulating cerebral ischemia and reperfusion by modulating the NLRP3 inflammasome and mitigating the release of inflammatory cytokines. These findings aim to present novel insights that could contribute to the prevention and treatment of cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury.

Abstract Cable trees are primarily employed in industrial products to facilitate energy transfer and information exchange among various components. When utilizing machines for assembly, it is essential to convert the wiring plan into a sequence of cable insertion operations executed by the machine under various constraints. This poses a combinatorial optimization problem. In this domain, constraint programming (CP) solvers often exhibit outstanding performance by leveraging their robust problem‐modelling capabilities, excellent scalability, and precise solving capabilities. However, CP solvers may achieve various performances for different problem instances. Selecting the most suitable CP solver for each problem instance is crucial. This paper introduces an automatic selection algorithm for CP solvers to solve the cable tree wiring problem (CTW). Firstly, a scoring system is used to conduct an in‐depth analysis and compare four well‐known CP solvers: CPLEX, Chuffed, OR‐Tools, and Gurobi. The results indicate that OR‐Tools and CPLEX outperform other solvers in performance. Moreover, these two solvers exhibit complementary advantages in quickly finding optimal and feasible solutions within specified time limits. Therefore, CP and machine learning are ingeniously integrated, harnessing their complementary advantages. 4240 instances covering various scenarios are randomly generated to form the problem space. This method incorporates decision trees, random forests, K‐nearest neighbours, and naive Bayes, utilizing these four machine learning techniques. The proposed method can achieve better results than traditional single CP solvers. Among all the evaluated machining learning techniques, the automatic solver selection methods based on decision trees and random forests can achieve accuracy rates of 91.29% and 84.15%, respectively.

Synapse is the fundamental structure for neurons to transmit information between cells. The proper synapse formation is crucial for developing neural circuits and cognitive functions of the brain. The aberrant synapse formation has been proved to cause many neurological disorders, including autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disability. Synaptic cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) are thought to play a major role in achieving mechanistic cell-cell recognition and initiating synapse formation via trans-synaptic interactions. Due to the diversity of synapses in different brain areas, circuits and neurons, although many synaptic CAMs, such as Neurexins (NRXNs), Neuroligins (NLGNs), Synaptic cell adhesion molecules (SynCAMs), Leucine-rich-repeat transmembrane neuronal proteins (LRRTMs), and SLIT and NTRK-like protein (SLITRKs) have been identified as synaptogenic molecules, how these molecules determine specific synapse formation and whether other molecules driving synapse formation remain undiscovered are unclear. Here, to provide a tool for synapse labeling and synaptic CAMs screening by artificial synapse formation (ASF) assay, we generated synaptotagmin-1-tdTomato (Syt1-tdTomato) transgenic mice by inserting the tdTomato-fused synaptotagmin-1 coding sequence into the genome of C57BL/6J mice. In the brain of Syt1-tdTomato transgenic mice, the tdTomato-fused synaptotagmin-1 (SYT1-tdTomato) signals were widely observed in different areas and overlapped with synapsin-1, a widely-used synaptic marker. In the olfactory bulb, the SYT1-tdTomato signals are highly enriched in the glomerulus. In the cultured hippocampal neurons, the SYT1-tdTomato signals showed colocalization with several synaptic markers. Compared to the wild-type (WT) mouse neurons, cultured hippocampal neurons from Syt1-tdTomato transgenic mice presented normal synaptic neurotransmission. In ASF assays, neurons from Syt1-tdTomato transgenic mice could form synaptic connections with HEK293T cells expressing NLGN2, LRRTM2, and SLITRK2 without immunostaining. Therefore, our work suggested that the Syt1-tdTomato transgenic mice with the ability to label synapses by tdTomato, and it will be a convenient tool for screening synaptogenic molecules.

Objective: To investigate the diagnostic utility of multimodal ultrasound for fetal bowel dilatation (FBD) in different parts of the bowel and to examine its prognostic potential in FBD. Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 86 fetuses with a dilated bowel identified via ultrasound in a 10-month postnatal follow-up. Both two- and three dimensional (2D and 3D, respectively) ultrasound volume imaging were used to characterize dilation across different bowel sections. The optimal intestinal diameter cut-off values for pathological bowel dilatation were determined and a predictive model for neonatal surgery was developed. Results: The 86 cases of dilatation were distributed as follows: duodenal (n = 36); jejunum/ileum (n = 35); and colonic (n = 15). To elucidate the functions and molecular mechanisms of BnLhc gene family members in Brassica napus under different exogenous hormones and abiotic stress, we identified 57 BnLhc gene family members from the entire genome of B. napus variety ZS11 using Arabidopsis Lhc protein as a seed sequence combined with phyll A-B binding protein PF00504. We performed comprehensive analyses including physicochemical property analysis, structural analysis, phylogenetic relationship analysis, homology relationship analysis, protein interaction network analysis, microRNA-target gene interaction analysis and GO enrichment analysis. Additionally, based on transcriptome data, we investigated response patterns of BnLhc genes to various exogenous stress conditions. Comparative evaluation between non-salt (NS:0) and salt-treated (TS: 1) rapeseed plants revealed significant inhibition in leaf chlorophyll content, biomass (W), leaf area (LA), root surface area (RA), as well as chloroplasts and roots under salt treatment. Furthermore, qPCR was employed to assess the relative expression levels of BnLhc genes associated with salt tolerance. Our findings indicate that while BnLhcs were upregulated in leaves upon exposure to salt signals suggesting their potential involvement in enhancing rape's resistance to salt stress through ion redistribution processes; they were downregulated in roots. At present, there are few research studies on the durability of microsurfacing. To further improve the service quality and durability of microsurfacing, five kinds of polymer-modified emulsified asphalt were used to prepare microsurfacing mixture. Based on the mixing time, wet track abrasion test, and load wheel test, the composition rationality of the microsurfacing mixture was verified. The influence of different polymer-modified emulsified asphalt on the water damage resistance, deformation resistance, and skid resistance of the microsurfacing was analyzed. The destructive effects of complex climatic conditions on the microsurfacing were simulated by means of damp heat aging, freeze-thaw cycle, and xenon lamp light aging treatment. Taking the wear resistance and pull-off properties after aging treatment and the change rate of various properties before and after treatment as evaluation indexes, the bonding durability of the microsurfacing was comprehensively evaluated by the ideal point method of entropy weight. The results show that the water damage resistance, abrasion resistance, and deformation resistance of the microsurfacing have a high correlation with the mechanical strength and adhesion performance of the modified emulsified asphalt binder. Xenon lamp aging has a significant impact on the bonding performance of the microsurfacing. Waterborne epoxy resin can effectively improve the bonding performance and bonding durability of the microsurfacing. Waterborne polyurethane can improve the freeze-thaw resistance and xenon lamp aging resistance of the microsurfacing.

Data mining (DM) technology is increasingly used in higher education, especially imaging education. The IEKMM model connects knowledge, problems, and abilities, addressing asymmetrical relationships and supporting network reasoning tasks. The SSME model preserves IEKMM’s semantic information, enhancing instruction quality and efficiency, and advancing personalized learning initiatives. Findings reveal that the distributed representation of entities and relationships, trained using the SSME (Semantic Symbol Mapping Embedding) model, effectively preserves the original semantic information of the IEKMM. This provides a foundation for implementing knowledge maps in educational settings and is crucial for advancing personalized learning initiatives.

The Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model is used to extract the text themes of newspaper news and construct the Chinese Economic Policy Uncertainty (EPU) Index. On this basis, based on the relevant data of Chinese A-share listed companies from 2008 to 2020, this paper empirically analyzes the impact of EPU on peer effects of firms R&D investment, and finds that EPU will aggravate the peer effects of firms R&D investment. Furthermore, the moderating effect of manager's motivation to maintain reputation on the process of EPU influencing the peer effects of firms R&D investment was tested, and the mechanism of EPU influencing the peer effects of firms R&D investment through financial frictions was verified.

Whitespotted conger (Conger myriaster) muscle proteins were susceptible to oxidative denaturation during frozen storage. The objective of this study was to investigate the alterations in quality through physicochemical analysis and proteomics after whitespotted conger stored at temperatures of −18 °C and −60 °C. The microstructural observation revealed the noticeable variations such as increased interstitial space and fractured muscle fibre with extension of frozen storage time, and the muscle fibre of whitespotted conger stored at −60 °C were more intact than those stored at −18 °C. The raised TVB-N value indicated that the freshness of whitespotted conger decreased during 120-day frozen storage period. Analysis of myofibrillar protein content and SDS-PAGE demonstrated that compared to −18 °C, lower storage temperature (−60 °C) could better maintain the structure of whitespotted conger muscle by inhibiting protein degradation and oxidation. To reveal the mechanism of protein degradation, label-free quantitative proteomic analysis was performed through LC-MS/MS. The structural proteins including domain-associated proteins and actin-related proteins were up-regulated during frozen storage, but the phosphoglycerate kinase, phosphoglycerate mutase, and fructose-bisphosphate aldolase were down-regulated. Storage at −18 °C accelerated the up- or down-regulation of those differentially abundant proteins. According to KEGG analysis, up- or down-regulated pathways such as glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, carbon metabolism, biosynthesis of amino acids, and calcium signalling pathway mainly accounted for the protein degradation and quality reduction of whitespotted conger at low temperature. These results provided a theoretical basis for improving the quality stability of whitespotted conger during frozen storage.

Abstract Background One‐carbon (1C) metabolism is a metabolic network that plays essential roles in biological reactions. In 1C metabolism, a series of nutrients are used to fuel metabolic pathways, including nucleotide metabolism, amino acid metabolism, cellular redox defence and epigenetic maintenance. At present, 1C metabolism is considered the hallmark of cancer. The 1C units obtained from the metabolic pathways increase the proliferation rate of cancer cells. In addition, anticancer drugs, such as methotrexate, which target 1C metabolism, have long been used in the clinic. In terms of immunotherapy, 1C metabolism has been used to explore biomarkers connected with immunotherapy response and immune‐related adverse events in patients. Methods We collected numerous literatures to explain the roles of one‐carbon metabolism in cancer immunotherapy. Results In this review, we focus on the important pathways in 1C metabolism and the function of 1C metabolism enzymes in cancer immunotherapy. Then, we summarise the inhibitors acting on 1C metabolism and their potential application on cancer immunotherapy. Finally, we provide a viewpoint and conclusion regarding the opportunities and challenges of targeting 1C metabolism for cancer immunotherapy in clinical practicability in the future. Conclusion Targeting one‐carbon metabolism is useful for cancer immunotherapy.

PurposeCompeting-risk analysis was used to accurately assess prognostic factors for cancer-specific death in patients with adenocarcinoma of transverse colon (ATC), and the results were compared with those from a conventional Cox regression analysis.Materials and MethodsPatients diagnosed with ATC between 2000 and 2019 were selected from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. The crude mortality rates of patients with ATC were calculated and their differences were tested using the Gray’s test, respectively. In performing multivariate analysis, the Cox regression model and the subdistribution hazard function (SD) in competing risk analysis were utilized, respectively.ResultsThis study included 21,477 eligible patients. The SD model indicated that age, etc. are actual independent prognostic factors. In contrast to previous recognition, the results of the Cox regression showed false-positives for sex and Carcinoembryonic antigen, and underestimated point-estimates in the stage and American Joint Committee on Cancer stage due to competing events. A detailed comparison of treatment revealed that the larger surgical scopes were prognostic risk factors compared with the smaller scope of local tumor excision, partial colectomy, or segmental resection. Patients treated with external proton beam radiotherapy had an increased risk compared with those with no radiotherapy and internal radiotherapy.ConclusionsAfter comparing the results of the two methods and mitigating the significant bias introduced by Cox regression, we found independent factors that really affect the prognosis of ATC. On the other hand, in terms of ATC, a larger surgical scope and external proton beam radiotherapy may not improve the long-term survival of patients. Therefore, when faced with ATC patients, these differences should be noted and treated differently from common colorectal cancer patients. Thus, clinicians are able to give more targeted treatment plans and prognostic assessments.

BackgroundCongenital dysfibrinogenemia (CD) is a rare hereditary coagulation disorder resulting from mutations in fibrinogen genes. CD primarily presents with bleeding symptoms, but it can also lead to thrombotic events, including ischemic stroke.Case presentationThis report describes the case of a 52-year-old Chinese man who was admitted to the hospital twice due to recurrent cerebral infarction, characterized by sudden speech impairment and weakness in the right upper extremity. Brain MRI revealed multiple ischemic changes, predominantly in the left frontal and parietal lobes. Coagulation tests demonstrated reduced plasma fibrinogen (Clauss method), prolonged prothrombin time and thrombin time, and an elevated international normalized ratio. However, the ELISA assay indicated elevated levels of fibrinogen γ-chain protein. Despite a 2-month-old treatment regimen with aspirin, clopidogrel, and atorvastatin after the first hospitalization, the patient experienced a second ischemic stroke. Genetic analysis using whole-exome sequencing (WES) and Sanger sequencing identified a rare heterozygous missense variation, FGG c.952G>A (rs267606810), in both the stroke patient and his asymptomatic sister. Both individuals exhibited the same alterations in fibrinogen, characterized by reduced functional levels but increased antigenic protein. Subsequently, the patient was diagnosed with ischemic stroke associated with congenital dysfibrinogenemia.ConclusionThis case report expands the clinical phenotype spectrum associated with FGG c.952G>A (rs267606810) and underscores the significance of considering CD as a potential etiology for unexplained ischemic stroke, particularly in patients with a family history of coagulation disorders.

Epidemiological studies from diverse global regions suggest a correlation between the accumulation of aluminum in the brain and the onset of various neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, of which, neuronal cells death happen. Our previous research has found the potential of aluminum to induce neuronal cell death. A comprehensive exploration of the regulatory pathways influenced by aluminum in neuronal cell death could contribute to the development of strategies aimed at preventing the detrimental impact of aluminum on neuronal cells. This study is dedicated to exploring the impact of aluminum on mitochondrial homeostasis through the RIP3-PGAM5-Drp1 pathway, with a specific focus on its potential role in necroptosis. We observed that the inhibition of RIP3 function and the reduction in PGAM5 protein expression both mitigate aluminum-induced necroptosis in PC12 cells and enhance mitochondrial function. However, the inhibition of PGAM5 protein expression does not exert an impact on the expression of RIP3 and MLKL proteins. In summary, our study posits that aluminum can induce necroptosis in PC12 cells through the RIP3-PGAM5-Drp1 pathway.

BackgroundInformation and communication technology (ICT) is a key factor in advancing the implementation of integrated care for older adults in the context of an aging society and the normalization of epidemics. This systematic review aims to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of ICT-based integrated care for older adults to provide input for the construction of intelligent integrated care models suitable for the context of an aging population in China.MethodsA systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted using PubMed, Web of Science Core Collection, Scopus, MEDLINE, EBSCO, EMBASE, CINAHL with full text, ProQuest, and Cochrane Library databases, along with the Google Scholar search engine, for papers published between January 1, 2000, and July 25, 2022, to include randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies of ICT-based integrated care for older adults. Two reviewers independently performed literature screening, quality assessment (JBI standardized critical appraisal tool), and data extraction. The results were pooled using a random effects model, and narrative synthesis was used for studies with insufficient outcome data.ResultsWe included 32 studies (21 interventions) with a total of 30,200 participants (14,289 in the control group and 15,911 in the intervention group). However, the quality of the literature could be improved. The meta-analysis results showed that ICT-based integrated care significantly improved the overall perceived health status of older adults (n=3 studies, MD 1.29 (CI 0.11 to 2.46), no heterogeneity) and reduced the number of emergency department visits (n=11 studies, OR 0.46 (CI 0.25 to 0.86), high heterogeneity) but had no significant effect on improving quality of life, mobility, depression, hospital admissions and readmissions, or mortality in older adults, with a high degree of study heterogeneity. Narrative analysis showed that the overall quality of care, primary care service use, and functional status of older adults in the intervention group improved, but the cost-effectiveness was unclear.ConclusionsICT-based integrated care is effective in improving health outcomes for older adults, but the quality and homogeneity of the evidence base need to be improved. Researchers should develop intelligent integrated care programs in the context of local health and care welfare provision systems for older adults, along with the preferences and priorities of the older adults.

Abstract Background With an aging population and the influence of traditional culture, the number of disabled older adults at home is increasing. Meanwhile, their care needs are also increasing. The cooperation between family and community can effectively improve the quality of home care for the disabled older adults. At present, there is a lack of research on the interaction between family and community in home care for disabled older adults. Methods The aim of this study is to determine the experience and demands of the interaction for disabled older adults, family and community, construct an interaction program among disabled older adults, family and community, and improve the quality of life. From may 2022 to July 2022, This study will select disabled older adults families from seven communities in Henan provinces. The researchers, after training, will conduct semi-structured interview to collect research data. According to the integration results of qualitative research, the interactive program is constructed and revised using the Delphi expert consultation method. Then the participants will be selected to accept the intervention of the interactive program and evaluated through questionnaires. Discussion Both family and community play an important role in the care of the disabled older adults at home. There is some evidence indicating the benefits of cooperation between family and community on disabled older adults. This study will take a step further and constructs a interaction program about how to create a positive and interactive home-based older adults care environment. Abstract Objective To investigate the etiological characteristics of plastic bronchitis (PB) caused by pulmonary infections in children and to identify any differences in the clinical features of PB cases caused by different pathogens. Method We collected data on children diagnosed with PB and admitted to the Respiratory Department at Soochow University Children’s Hospital between July 2021 and March 2023 utilizing electronic bronchoscopy. We analyzed clinical characteristics and the species of pathogens causing the illness in these children. Result A total of 45 children were enrolled. The main clinical symptoms observed were cough (100%), fever (80%), shortness of breath (28.9%), and wheezing (20.0%). Pathogens were identified in 38 (84.4%) patients. Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) had the highest detection rate at 53.3%, followed by the Boca virus at 26.7%. MP-induced PB typically occurs in older children with an average age of 7.46 ± 2.36 years, with the main symptoms including high fever (85.7%) and local hyporespiration (42.9%). In contrast, Boca virus-induced PB tends to occur in younger children, with the main symptoms of moderate fever (54.5%), and wheezing (54.5%). The MP group exhibited a higher incidence of both internal and external pulmonary complications, including pleural effusion (42.9%), elevated aspartate aminotransferase (52.4%), lactic dehydrogenase (76.2%), and D-D dimer (90.5%). Conversely, the Boca virus group primarily showed pulmonary imaging of atelectasis (81.8%), with no pleural effusion. The average number of bronchoscopic interventions in the MP group was 2.24 ± 0.62, which was significantly higher than that required in the Boca virus group (1.55 ± 0.52). During the second bronchoscopy, 57.1% of children in the MP group still had visible mucus plugs, while none were observed in the Boca virus group. Conclusion MP and Boca virus are the primary pathogens responsible for PB among children. The clinical manifestations of PB typically vary significantly based on the pathogen causing the condition.

Abstract Background Quantitative proteomics is an indispensable tool in life science research. However, there is a lack of reference materials for evaluating the reproducibility of label-free liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS)-based measurements among different instruments and laboratories. Results Here, we develop the Quartet standard as a proteome reference material with built-in truths, and distribute the same aliquots to 15 laboratories with nine conventional LC–MS/MS platforms across six cities in China. Relative abundance of over 12,000 proteins on 816 mass spectrometry files are obtained and compared for reproducibility among the instruments and laboratories to ultimately generate proteomics benchmark datasets. There is a wide dynamic range of proteomes spanning about 7 orders of magnitude, and the injection order has marked effects on quantitative instead of qualitative characteristics. Conclusion Overall, the Quartet offers valuable standard materials and data resources for improving the quality control of proteomic analyses as well as the reproducibility and reliability of research findings.

Abstract Objective The objective of this research was to analyze the prognostic significance of the minimum count of lymphocytes (LY) and the corresponding ratio of neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte (NLR) in cervical cancer (CC) patients receiving radiotherapy. Methods We retrospectively collected data from 202 CC patients who received concurrent chemoradiotherapy or radiotherapy alone at our hospital. Statistical methods including the Kaplan–Meier method, log‐rank test and the Cox proportional hazards model were included to examine survival differences and identify independent factors that may affect overall survival (OS) and progression‐free survival (PFS). Results The research enrolled a total of 202 patients. Patients with higher LY levels and lower NLR values during radiotherapy had significantly better survival prognosis than those with lower LY levels and higher NLR values. Multivariate COX regression analysis revealed that FIGO stage I, pathological types of SqCC, absence of lymph node metastasis, concurrent chemoradiotherapy, higher LY levels during radiotherapy, and lower NLR values before radiotherapy were independently associated with poorer PFS. Similarly, FIGO stage I, absence of lymph node metastasis and lower NLR values during and before radiotherapy were independently linked with poorer OS. Conclusion Minimum LY value and its corresponding NLR during radiotherapy serve as prognostic factors for CC.

Laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) has been proposed as a potential manufacturing process of high-entropy alloys involving rapid cooling rate and compositional element tuning. It, to some extent, compensates for the lack of strength of face-centered cubic (FCC) CoCrFeNi alloy by introducing high-density dislocations and generating hierarchical structures. In this study, the CoCrFeNi-based alloy was manufactured by L-PBF with the minor addition of B4C micro-particles and their properties and microstructure were evaluated. Nano-sized precipitates consisting of the boride and varying carbides were found in the form of a core-shell structure. An in-site transformation of carbides appeared around the core of the precipitate due to a large temperature gradient in the melt pool during manufacturing. The tensile yield and ultimate strength of CoCrFeNi–B4C alloy (1249.5 MPa and 1421.0 MPa) are double that of CoCrFeNi matrix (624.5 MPa and 691.1 MPa) at room temperature with competitive ductility. The exceptional mechanical properties can be mainly ascribed to precipitate hardening, dislocation hardening and grain refinement, as well as the particle-dislocation interaction.

Abstract Background Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) was a rare and extremely malignant endocrine cancer with the distinct hallmark of high proportion of cancer stem cell-like characteristics. Therapies aiming to cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) were emerging as a new direction in cancer treatment, but targeting ATC CSCs remained challenging, mainly due to incomplete insights of the regulatory mechanism of CSCs. Here, we unveiled a novel role of ISG15 in the modulation of ATC CSCs. Methods The expression of ubiquitin-like proteins were detected by bioinformatics and immunohistochemistry. The correlation between ISG15 expression and tumor stem cells and malignant progression of ATC was analyzed by single-cell RNA sequence from the Gene Expression Omnibus. Flow cytometry combined with immunofluorescence were used to verify the enrichment of ISG15 and ISGyaltion in cancer stem cells. The effect and mechanism of ISG15 and KPNA2 on cancer stem cell-like characteristics of ATC cells were determined by molecular biology experiments. Mass spectrometry combined with immunoprecipitation to screen the substrates of ISG15 and validate its ISGylation modification. Nude mice and zebrafish xenograft models were utilized to demonstrate that ISG15 regulates stem cell characteristics and promotes malignant progression of ATC. Results We found that among several ubiquitin proteins, only ISG15 was aberrantly expressed in ATC and enriched in CSCs. Single-cell sequencing analysis revealed that abnormal expression of ISG15 were intensely associated with stemness and malignant cells in ATC. Inhibition of ISG15 expression dramatically attenuated clone and sphere formation of ATC cells, and facilitated its sensitivity to doxorubicin. Notably, overexpression of ISGylation, but not the non-ISGylation mutant, effectively reinforced cancer stem cell-like characteristics. Mechanistically, ISG15 mediated the ISGylation of KPNA2 and impeded its ubiquitination to promote stability, further maintaining cancer stem cell-like characteristics. Finally, depletion of ISG15 inhibited ATC growth and metastasis in xenografted mouse and zebrafish models. Conclusion Our studies not only provided new insights into potential intervention strategies targeting ATC CSCs, but also uncovered the novel biological functions and mechanisms of ISG15 and ISGylation for maintaining ATC cancer stem cell-like characteristics. Abstract Background As the phenomenon of ageing continues to intensify, home and community-based services (HCBSs) have been increasingly important in China. However, the association between HCBSs utilization and depressive symptoms in older adults in China is unclear. Consequently, this study aimed to examine the association between HCBSs utilization and depressive symptoms in Chinese older adults. Methods This study included 7,787 older adults (≥ 60 years old) who were recruited within the framework of the 2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). Depressive symptoms were assessed using the 10-item Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D-10). HCBSs utilization was assessed via the question, “What kind of HCBSs were being utilized in their community?”. Data were analyzed using binary logistic regression models and generalized hierarchical linear models (GHLM). Results Of the 7,787 participants, 20.0% (n = 1,556) reported that they utilized HCBSs, and 36.7% (n = 2,859) were evaluated that they had depressive symptoms. Abstract Three interferometers (the Sagnac sensor, the linear polarization interferometer, and the reflecting polarization interferometer) incorporated with the bow tie fiber are proposed to detect the seawater temperature. Bow tie fiber, a kind of polarization maintaining fiber, has stress induced birefringence. The three interferometers are categorized as transmission and reflection types to analyze the sensing principles. Related experiments are performed to explore the influence of the wavelength and length of the bow tie fiber on the sensitivity and free spectral range (FSR). The sensitivity and FSR both increase with the wavelength increasing. The sensitivity fluctuates in a small range and FSR decreases with the length increasing. The reflecting polarization interferometer has the bigger sensitivity of −1.19nm/°C than the other two. And it has the advantages of easy fabrication, simple operation, and good stability, so it is applicable in real ocean exploration. Our work can provide a reference to researchers who do oceanographic research.

Oceanic biogenic emissions exert a significant impact on the atmospheric environment within the marine boundary layer (MBL). This study employs the extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) machine learning method and clustering method combined with satellite observations and model simulations to discuss the effects of marine biogenic emissions on MBL formaldehyde (HCHO). The study reveals that HCHO columnar concentrations peaked in summer with 8.25 × 1015 molec/cm2, but the sea–air exchange processes controlled under the wind and sea surface temperature (SST) made marine biogenic emissions represented by isoprene reach their highest levels in winter with 95.93 nmol/m2/day. Analysis was conducted separately for factors influencing marine biogenic emissions and affecting MBL HCHO. It was found that phytoplankton functional types (PFTs) and biological degradation had a significant impact on marine biogenic emissions, with ratio range of 0.07~15.87 and 1.02~5.42 respectively. Machine learning methods were employed to simulate the conversion process of marine biogenic emissions to HCHO in MBL. Based on the SHAP values of the learning model, the importance results indicate that the factors influencing MBL HCHO mainly included NO2, as well as temperature (T) and relative humidity (RH). Specifically, the influence of NO2 on atmospheric HCHO was 1.3 times that of T and 1.6 times that of RH. Wind speed affected HCHO by influencing both marine biogenic emission and the atmospheric physical conditions. Increased marine biogenic emissions in air masses heavily influenced by human activities can reduce HCHO levels to some extent. However, in areas less affected by human activities, marine biogenic emissions can lead to higher levels of HCHO pollution. This research explores the impact of marine biogenic emissions on the HCHO status of the MBL under different atmospheric chemical conditions, offering significant insights into understanding chemical processes in marine atmospheres.

Nevertheless, during operational usage, waterborne polyurethane materials, akin to other polymeric substances, are susceptible to oxidative aging manifestations like yellowing, cracking, and diminished mechanical performance, significantly curtailing their utility. Consequently, the synthesis of yellowing-resistant polyurethane assumes pivotal significance. This study integrates dynamic reversible reactions into the synthesis process of polyurethane by introducing the dynamic reversible compound 2-hydroxyethyl disulfide as a chain extender, alongside the incorporation of a UV absorber to enhance the polyurethane’s resistance to yellowing. When the disulfide bonds absorb heat, they undergo cleavage, yielding thiols that spontaneously recombine into disulfide bonds at ambient temperatures, allowing for the continuous breaking and reformation of disulfide bonds to absorb heat. Concurrently, in collaboration with the UV absorber, the detrimental effects of ultraviolet radiation on the polyurethane material are mitigated, thereby augmenting its resistance to yellowing. This study scrutinizes the positioning of UV absorber addition, the quantity of UV absorber, and the molar ratio of 1,4-butanediol to 2-hydroxyethyl disulfide, characterizing the functional groups of polyurethane through infrared and Raman spectroscopy. It is observed that the successful preparation of yellowing-resistant polyurethane is achieved, and evaluations on the modified polyurethane through color difference, tensile, and centrifugal tests reveal that the optimal yellowing resistance is attained by adding a UV absorber at a mass fraction of 1% to 3% prior to chain extension, resulting in a color change grade of 2, denoting slight discoloration. Simultaneously, the other properties of polyurethane exhibit relative stability. Notably, when the molar ratio of 1,4-butanediol to 2-hydroxyethyl disulfide is 3:2, the overall performance of the polyurethane remains stable, with exceptional yellowing resistance capabilities attaining a color change grade of 2.

The advent of high-entropy alloys (HEAs) provides new possibilities for the metallurgical community. CoCrFeNi-based alloys have been widely recognized to demonstrate superior mechanical properties, amongst the high-entropy alloy systems; in particular, they possess an outstanding tensile ductility and work-hardening capacity. Additive manufacturing (AM) uses a layer-by-layer material deposition approach to build parts directly from computer-aided design models, which are capable of producing near-net-shape HEAs with superior mechanical properties, surpassing traditional manufacturing methods that require a time-consuming post-treatment process, such as cutting, milling, and molding. Moreover, the rapid solidification inherent in AM processes induces the formation of high-density dislocations, which are capable of enhancing the mechanical properties of HEAs. This review comprehensively investigates and summarizes the diverse strengthening mechanisms within CoCrFeNi-based alloys produced using AM technologies, with a specific focus on their influence on tensile properties. A correlation is established between the AM processing parameters and the resultant phases and microstructures, as well as the mechanical properties of CoCrFeNi-based HEAs, which provide guidelines to achieve a superior strength–ductility synergy.

This study aimed to understand the genetic and metabolic traits of a Lactiplantibacillus plantarum JS21 strain and its probiotic abilities through laboratory tests and computer analysis. L. plantarum JS21 was isolated from a traditional fermented food known as “Jiangshui” in Hanzhong city. In this research, the complete genetic makeup of JS21 was determined using Illumina and PacBio technologies. The JS21 genome consisted of a 3.423 Mb circular chromosome and five plasmids. It was found to contain 3023 protein-coding genes, 16 tRNA genes, 64 rRNA operons, 40 non-coding RNA genes, 264 pseudogenes, and six CRISPR array regions. The GC content of the genome was 44.53%. Additionally, the genome harbored three complete prophages. The evolutionary relationship and the genome collinearity of JS21 were compared with other L. plantarum strains. The resistance genes identified in JS21 were inherent. Enzyme genes involved in the Embden–Meyerhof–Parnas (EMP) and phosphoketolase (PK) pathways were detected, indicating potential for facultative heterofermentative pathways. JS21 possessed bacteriocins plnE/plnF genes and genes for polyketide and terpenoid assembly, possibly contributing to its antibacterial properties against Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), Escherichia coli (K88), Staphylococcus aureus (CMCC 26003), and Listeria monocytogenes (CICC 21635). Furthermore, JS21 carried genes for Na+/H+ antiporters, F0F1 ATPase, and other stress resistance genes, which may account for its ability to withstand simulated conditions of the human gastrointestinal tract in vitro. The high hydrophobicity of its cell surface suggested the potential for intestinal colonization. Overall, L. plantarum JS21 exhibited probiotic traits as evidenced by laboratory experiments and computational analysis, suggesting its suitability as a dietary supplement.

Abstract The association between the embryo quality, clinical characteristics, miRNAs (secreted by blastocysts in the culture medium) and pregnancy outcomes has been well-established. Studies on prediction models for pregnancy outcome, using clinical characteristics and miRNA expression, are limited. We aimed to establish the prediction model for prediction of pregnancy outcome of woman after a fresh cycle of Day 5 single blastocyst transfer (Day 5 SBT) based on clinical data and miRNA expression. A total of 86 women, 50 with successful pregnancy and 36 with pregnancy failure after fresh cycle of Day 5 SBT, were enrolled in this study. All samples were divided into training set and test set (3:1). Based on clinical index statistics of enrolled population and miRNA expression, the prediction model was constructed, followed by validation of the prediction model. Four clinical indicators, female age, sperm DNA fragmentation index, anti-mullerian hormone, estradiol, can be used as independent predictors of pregnancy failure after fresh cycle of Day 5 SBT. Three miRNAs (hsa-miR-199a-3p, hsa-miR-199a-5p and hsa-miR-99a-5p) had a potential diagnostic value for pregnancy failure after Day 5 SBT. The predictive effect of model combining 4 clinical indicators and 3 miRNAs (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, AUC = 0.853) was better than models combining single 4 clinical indicators (AUC = 0.755) or 3 miRNAs (AUC = 0.713). Based on 4 clinical indicators and 3 miRNAs, a novel model to predict pregnancy outcome in woman after fresh cycle of Day 5 SBT has been developed and validated. The predictive model may be valuable for clinicians to make the optimal clinical decision and patient selection.

Abstract Background Problem-solving ability has been identified as a core competence that nursing students should develop, and it plays a vital role in career development. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate factors related to problem-solving ability and the path relationships among those factors in the context of nursing students. Objective This study aims to identify the factors that affect problem-solving ability, and to investigate path relationships of self-directed learning ability, critical thinking ability, learning engagement, and problem-solving ability among nursing students. Design A cross-sectional study. Settings The Department of Nursing at a university located in Shanghai, China. Sample A total of 540 nursing students with a three-year education program were enrolled in the current study. Methods Data were collected by using a structured questionnaire, including general information, learning engagement, self-directed learning ability, critical thinking ability, and problem-solving ability of nursing students. Pearson’s correlations were used to explore the relationships between learning engagement, self-directed learning ability, critical thinking ability, and problem-solving ability. The path relationships were analyzed by constructing a structural equation model using AMOS software. Results Our results showed that learning engagement, self-directed learning ability, and critical thinking ability were positively associated with problem-solving ability. Furthermore, learning engagement did not influence problem-solving ability directly, but it affected problem-solving ability indirectly via self-directed learning ability and critical thinking ability among nursing students. Additionally, the total effects of self-directed learning (0.442) and critical thinking ability (0.581) were more prominent than learning engagement (0.361) on problem-solving ability. Conclusions To improve the problem-solving ability of nursing students, nursing educators should develop targeted strategies to enhance learning engagement, self-directed learning ability, and critical thinking ability.

Abstract Background Women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are at greater risk of abnormal birth weight. Since the level of biochemical indicators could often affect the intrauterine growth and development of the fetus, it is of great practical significance to understand the changes of biochemical levels across pregnancy in women with GDM and to find out the indicators that play an important role in predicting birth weight. Methods The data source of this study was from the Xi'an Longitudinal Mother–Child Cohort study (XAMC), in which women with GDM with normal and high pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and their newborns between January 1st and March 31st in 2018 were included. The data of ferritin, serum lipid profile and fasting plasma glucose (FPG) of mothers in the three trimesters of pregnancy, as well as birth weight of newborns were all collected from medical records. Split-step quintic B-spline collocation (SS5BC) methods are constructed for nonlinear Schrödinger equations in one, two and three dimensions in this paper. For high dimensions, new notations are introduced, which make the schemes more concise and achievable. The solvability, conservation and linear stability are discussed for the proposed methods. Numerical tests are carried out, and the present schemes are numerically verified to be convergent with second-order in time and fourth-order in space. The conserved quantity is also computed which agrees with the exact one. And solitary waves in one, two and three dimensions are simulated numerically which coincide with the exact ones. The SS5BC scheme is compared with the split-step cubic B-spline collocation (SS3BC) method in the numerical tests, and the former scheme is more efficient than the later one. Finally, the SS5BC scheme is also applied to compute Bose-Einstein condensates.

Abstract Herein, a biochar-based composite (Ti3C2Tx@biochar-PDA/PEI) was constructed by decorating Ti3C2Tx and polydopamine on coconut shell biochar via electrostatic self-assembly method. Different characterization techniques were applied to explore the structure, morphology and composition of the sorbents. It was found that the higher porosity and diverse functional groups were conducive for Ti3C2Tx@biochar-PDA/PEI to capture radionuclides, and the water environmental conditions made a great contribution to the adsorption process. The process of removing U(VI)/Cs(I) well complied with the Langmuir isotherm and Pseudo-second-order equations, which indicated that the single layer chemical adsorption occurred on the solid liquid interface. Meanwhile, this produced composite exhibited superior removal performance under complex co-existing ion environment, and the maximum adsorption amounts of U(VI) and Cs(I) reached up to 239.7 and 40.3 mg g−1. Impressively, this adsorbent still exhibited good adsorption performance after three cycles of regeneration. The spectral analysis and DFT calculation demonstrated that adsorption of U(VI) might be a chemical process, while the adsorption of Cs(I) should be ion exchange or electrostatic attraction. This study demonstrated the potential application of Ti3C2Tx@biochar-PDA/PEI as an effective remediation strategy for radioactive wastewater cleanup. Graphical Abstract
