The digital turn has brought radical transformations in society. The advent of online learning is threatening the educational role of universities, while the increasing need of digital skills has forced humanists to stretch beyond their core competences. With my study I aim at showing policy makers that universities and the humanities are living institutions, able to face societal changes. Hence I argue for higher investments in qualified research-based teaching, which is a driving force for introducing innovation in education and for fostering the individual development of students as future citizens, able to contribute to society in its complex.
