Allergy is still a health problem in Indonesia. One of the manifestations of allergies is allergic rhinitis. Many factors can trigger the recurrence of rhinitis, including exposure to house dust mites. This study aims to identify the population of house dust mites in the classrooms and student residences. This study was participated by 74 FK UNRI students with allergic rhinitis. The samples included dust collected from residences and classrooms consisting of four large classrooms, three small classrooms, four laboratories, two examination rooms, 12 skills lab rooms, and 15 tutorial rooms. Detection of dust was performed using the direct method. The results showed that no classroom (0%) was found with house dust mites. However, there were 37.8% of residences were positive. Based on the result, it can be concluded that the high population of house dust mites in the students’ residences becomes an essential factor as a chronic stressor for allergic rhinitis.

The ocular system can be affected in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in one third of patients. However, optic nerve involvement is relatively uncommon, but is more so in pediatric SLE patients, where it can occur in 1% of cases. We report three children with SLE who presented with optic nerve involvement. Two children had optic neuritis, with optic neuritis being the first manifestation in one child. The third child had ischaemic optic neuropathy secondary to antiphospholipid syndrome. A careful work up for SLE should be performed in every child with optic nerve disease. Abstract. Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a very serious health problem, especially in Indonesia. Dengue hemorrhagic fever is caused by the Dengue Virus transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquito vector as the actual vector and Aedes albopictus as the potential vector. Various efforts have been implemented but the incidence of dengue is still high. One of the spearheads in eradicating DHF is to break the chain of transmission through the Mosquito Nest Eradication program. To support the PSN program, Jumantik Monitors are formed in each village. However, due to limited resources, monitoring by jumantik has not been entirely successful. Based on this, it is necessary to consider the effectiveness of the implementation of this jumantik through the SARUJU program, namely the one jumantik per house program. Jumantik was a medical student at the University of Riau who became a foster child in village namely Pelita Medika Buluh Cina Village. Jumantik has the duty to monitor the existence and density of larvae, implement PSN and appoint a second jumantik who is a member of the original family. Through the first stage larvae survey, there was a high rate of larvae density. Through Saruju activities, it is expected that a decrease in larvae density will reduce the incidence of DHF. Demam berdarah dengue disebabkan oleh Virus Dengue dengan perantaraan vektor nyamuk Aedes aegypti sebagai vektor aktual dan Aedes albopictus sebagai vektor potensial. Berbagai upaya telah dilakukan pemerintah melalui program yang telah dilaksanakan, namum kejadian DBD masih tetap tinggi. Salah satu ujung tombak pemberantasan DBD adalah dengan memutus rantai penularan melalui program Pemberantasan Sarang Nyamuk (PSN). Namun demikian program tersebut tidak dilaksanakan secara efektif pada berbagai lapisan masyarakat. Untuk menunjang program PSN dibentuklah Juru Pemantau Jentik (Jumantik) pada tiap kelurahan. Namun demikian karena keterbatasan sumber daya menyebabkan pemantauan oleh jumantik tidak berhasil Berdasarkan hal tersebut perlu dipikirkan efektifitas pelaksanaan jumantik ini melalui gerakan SARUJU yaitu gerakan satu rumah satu jumantik. Jumantik berasal dari mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran UNRI yang merupakan anak asuh dari Desa Binaan Kampung Pelita Medika II Buluh Cina. Jumantik berkewajiban memantau keberadaan dan kepadatan jentik di rumahnya, melaksanakan PSN, serta menunjuk dan mengedukasi jumantik kedua yang merupakan anggota keluarga asli. Berdasarkan survey jentik didapatkan kepadatan jentik yang tinggi di daerah tersebut. Melalui kegiatan saruju diharapkan kejadian DBD di daerah tersebut dapat ditekan. Pedikulosis kapitis dikategorikan sebagai penyakit yang terabaikan dan masih menjadi masalah kesehatan. Infestasi Pediculus humanus capitis dengan mudah ditularkan melalui hubungan langsung antar individu atau benda pribadi yang digunakan bersama. Pedikulosis kapitis memiliki berbagai faktor risiko yang dapat meningkatkan terjadinya infestasi Pediculus humanus capitis. Penyakit ini menyerang semua usia terutama usia muda dan cepat meluas dalam lingkungan hidup yang padat seperti asrama dan panti asuhan. Gejala klinis yang khas berupa gatal disertai adanya bekas garukan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan faktor risiko dengan infestasi Pediculus humanus capitis pada anak panti asuhan di kota Pekanbaru. Anak panti asuhan yang diperiksa berjumlah 127 orang dari 3 panti asuhan di Pekanbaru. Hasil pemeriksaan didapatkan infestasi Pediculus humanus capitis pada perempuan lebih tinggi (87,1%), infestasi berdasarkan kelompok usia lebih banyak terjadi pada usia 6-12 tahun (65,9%), infestasi Pediculus humanus capitis menurut karakteristik rambut tertinggi pada keriting (81,8%). Anak yang memiliki panjang rambut sebahu adalah 91,3%. Kebiasaan anak yang selalu memakai alat rambut dan tidur bersama memiliki infestasi Pediculus humanus capitis sebesar 57,5% dan infestasi Pediculus humanus capitis untuk anak yang mencuci rambut 3 kali seminggu adalah 58,3%. Percutaneous renal biopsy (PRB) is an important diagnostic tool in pediatric nephrology units. But controversy exists whether the procedure can be done in the day care setting. This study was done to document complications of PRB done with automated gun under continuous ultrasonographic guidance and to find whether the procedure can be undertaken as a day care procedure. Retrospective analysis of 67 PRBs is presented. A total of 44% (n = 30) minor and 12% (n = 8) major complications such as gross hematuria, perinephric hematoma, and hemodynamic instability were observed through the study period. All major and 90% of minor complications were detected within four hours in the current study. The procedure may be undertaken in the day care setting with strict pre and postprocedure monitoring up to eight hours in children with normal blood pressures, renal functions, hemoglobin concentrations, and coagulation parameters.
