This study proposed a wind-hydrogen coupling systems control strategy to investigate its feasibility. The control strategy regulates the electrical energy generated by a wind turbine to meet the domestic load demand of a specific site. The remaining electrical energy is regulated to supply electrolyzer for producing hydrogen as energy storage. The stored energy in the form of hydrogen can be reconverted into electricity by utilizing fuel cells to meet the domestic load demand. Selecting proper sites for evaluating the control strategy is critical. Hence this study also conducts a wind resource assessment approach that considers the humidity effect to wind power density, wind turbine power curve, and annual energy production of a wind turbine. This approach achieved a better precise annual energy production estimation than other approaches that neglect the humidity. Proper wind resource assessment resulted in a site for the case study, Mollo Selatan Subdistrict for an on-grid system. The control strategy was modeled and evaluated with MATLAB Simulink. The simulation results show the possibility of storing energy generated by the wind into hydrogen and meeting the load demand of the case study location.

ATG4D, a member of autophagy-related protein 4 (ATG4) family, plays an interplay role between autophagy and apoptosis in cancers. However, the role of ATG4D in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has not been defined. Herein, this study aimed to investigate the role and the underlying mechanism of ATG4D in regulating HCC cell apoptosis. ATG4D was silenced in MHCC-97L HCC cells, and then cell proliferation and apoptosis were examined. ATG4D expression was significantly upregulated in HCC tissues when compared with paired non-tumor tissues. In vitro assays revealed that silencing of ATG4D significantly suppressed cell proliferation, promoted cell apoptosis, and enhanced sensitivity to cisplatin of MHCC-97L cells. Furthermore, silencing of ATG4D decreased the phosphorylation of Akt and increased the protein level of caspase-3. Taken together, ATG4D may play an oncogenic role in HCC progression. These findings suggest that ATG4D may serve as a therapeutic target for HCC therapy.

Wind power is one of the cheapest and direct methods to alleviate negative impacts on environment therefore the demand of efficient wind energy conversion system is increasing. Uneven distribution of wind impacts the performance of Wind Turbine (WT) system so constant and noise free power at output is required. The pitching angle varies according to the Wind Speed (WS), and the power output equation of the entire WT system depends upon WT pitch angle. Pitch control is widely used to optimize power above rated WS. This paper proposes an efficient adaptive pitch control controller to maintain the output power of a 5 MW WT in dynamic wind conditions. Compared to low level control loops (such as PI), this illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed controller. The model was tested in a 5 MW WT GH bladed system.

Energy demand is rapidly increasing with the industrialization and economic growth. Industrialization leads to enhancing global warming along with acid rain, environmental pollution. Therefore, the need for power systems, which composed of alternate energy sources. Mainly, the researchers are contributing to the field of wind and solar power. Wind energy is getting prime importance because of its abundant nature and totally emission free. In addition to it, many researchers are focusing on solar power to enhance its output efficiency, which is very beneficial to fulfill the energy demand. Multi energy systems (MES), which include wind, solar, battery system, and utility grid are used. This paper emphasizes the integration of various energy sources. The research proposes the design of various energy systems such as wind, solar and battery storage along with the utility grid. The sources are coupled and connected to the alternating current (AC) load. The proposed system is designed and simulated by using MATLAB/Simulink. The output power results of the various interconnected sources are satisfactory with the high power quality.

Doxorubicin (DOX) is a widely used antitumor drug that causes severe neurotoxicity in patients. Diallyl trisulfide (DATS) is an organosulfur compound with established potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Herein, we investigated the neuroprotective efficacy of DATS in preventing DOX-induced neurotoxicity in a rat model. Specifically, DATS (40 mg/kg) was administered to rats 24 h after DOX treatment, once a week for 8 weeks. Our results showed that DATS treatment led to a decrease in plasma levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) induced by DOX. DATS restored cerebral cortex and hippocampus histopathological architecture and neuronal loss. Immunohistochemical staining indicated that DATS decreased the expression of glial fibrillar acidic protein (GFAP) in DOX treated rats. Components of stress-related inflammatory proteins (TNF-α, phospho nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), inducible nitricoxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)) were all significantly increased in the DOX group, in comparison with the control group, whereas they were decreased after DATS treatment. In addition, the mRNA of antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2), catalase, glutathione peroxidase 1, 4 (GPx1 and GPx4)) and antioxidant proteins (heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), superoxide dismutase 1, 2 (SOD1 and SOD2), Γ-glutamylcysteine synthase (Γ-GCSc)) were markedly increased in DOX group compared with the control group, which were significantly attenuated by DATS treatment. The upregulation of antioxidants enzymes in DOX group was probably a compensatory effect against elevated oxidative stress induced by DOX. DATS treatment could ameliorate this oxidative stress in brain. Our results suggested that DATS has potential clinical applications in the prevention of DOX-induced neurotoxicity by ameliorating inflammatory insults and oxidative stress.
