Depression is a refractory psychiatric disorder closely associated with dysfunction of the gap junctions (GJs) between astrocytes as well as neuroinflammation. Higenamine (Hig) is a potent cardiotonic ingredient in Fuzi (i.e., Aconitum carmichaeli Debx.) with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, which has a significant protective effect on damaged nerve cells and has great potential for the treatment of neuropsychiatric diseases. Rats were stimulated by chronic unpredictable stress (CUS) for 28 days while given Hig (5, 10, 20 mg/kg) and then analyzed behaviorally by the open field test, sucrose preference test, and forced swimming test. Changes in astrocyte GJs function and morphology were observed by dye transfer and transmission electron microscopy, respectively. Expression and phosphorylation of connexin 43 (Cx43) were analyzed by Western blot. Also, considering the close relationship between depression and neuroinflammation, we determined the inflammatory response in serum with ELISA kits and analyzed the expression of inflammation-related proteins with Western blot. Hig ameliorated CUS-induced depression-like behavior in rats. Hig administration improved gap junctional dysfunction in astrocytes, reduced gap junctional gaps and elevated the expression of Cx43 and decreased the phosphorylation of Cx43. Meanwhile, Hig administration was also able to attenuate the inflammatory response that occurs after CUS in rats. For the role of Cx43 in depression, we did not validate it more deeply in animal models with knockout Cx43. In addition, GJs dysfunction might be associated with the inflammatory response seen in depression, but this needs to be further investigated. Background: Modern perioperative guidelines encourage drinking oral carbohydrates 2 h before management. Nevertheless, research on the safety of preoperative carbohydrate drinks, particularly in extremely elderly patients is lacking. We aimed to evaluate the safety of carbohydrate drinks 2 h before surgery in extremely elderly patients (≥ 80 years) using gastric ultrasonography. Methods: We conducted a randomized prospective comparative study of 70 patients aged over 80 years who were scheduled for total knee arthroplasty, hip fracture or humerus fracture surgery. These patients were randomly assigned to the carbohydrate group (n = 35), which fasted from midnight, except for drinking 355 mL of a carbohydrate-containing fluid 2 h before surgery, or the fasting group (n = 35), which fasted from midnight and drank no fluid before surgery. The primary outcome of the study was the cross-sectional area (CSA) of the gastric antrum in the right lateral decubitus position (RLDP) before surgery. The secondary outcomes included CSA in the supine position, intraoperative blood glucose levels and their variability coefficients, Perlas grade, and the visual analog scale of subjective feelings. Results: The CSA in the RLDP and supine positions revealed no differences between the carbohydrate and fasting groups at 0 h preoperatively (P > 0.05). In the qualitative assessment, preoperative 0-h Perlas grading did not differ significantly between the groups (P > 0.05). From 2 h before surgery to transfer out of the post-anesthesia care unit, the average blood glucose level of patients in the carbohydrate group was significantly higher than that in the fasting group (P < 0.001) but remained within the normal range. Moreover, the blood glucose variability coefficient was significantly lower in the carbohydrate group than in the fasting group (P = 0.009). Oral intake of 355 mL carbohydrates before surgery significantly relieved patients' feelings (P < 0.001). Conclusion: Preoperative consumption of carbohydrate drinks 2 h before surgery is safe in "healthy" extremely elderly patients. In addition, preoperative drinking has potential value in maintaining ideal blood glucose levels and stable blood glucose fluctuations perioperatively and improving subjective perceptions of preoperative preparation. Efficient ultraviolet (UV) electroluminescent materials remain a great challenge, since short peak wavelength <400 nm and narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM) <50 nm are simultaneously required. In this sense, multi‐resonance (MR) thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters featuring narrow‐band emissions hold the promise for UV applications. Herein, a novel MR‐TADF skeleton featuring carbazole‐phosphine oxide (P=O) fused aromatics is developed to construct the first two UV MR emitters named CzP2PO and tBCzP2PO. In addition to synergistic resonance effects of P=O and N atom, sp3‐hybrid P atom renders the curved polycyclic planes of CzP2PO and tBCzP2PO, giving rise to their narrowband UV emissions with peak wavelengths <390 nm and FWHM<35 nm. Besides configuration quasi‐planarization for radiation enhancement and quenching suppression, P=O moiety further enhances singlet‐triplet coupling to facilitate reverse intersystem crossing, resulting in the state‐of‐the‐art photoluminescence quantum yield of 62 % in tBCzP2PO doped films. As consequence, tBCzP2PO endowed its UV organic light‐emitting diodes with the peak at 382 nm and FWHM of 32 nm, and especially the record‐high external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 15.1 % among all kinds of UV devices. In the process of treating tetracyclines in wastewater, the influence of the surrounding environment on the efficiency of tetracycline removal plays a vital role. We have successfully prepared Azo@Ag/Ag2O/CN photocatalytic materials that are intelligently responsive to light of different wavelengths via direct precipitation and emulsion polymerization. Tetracyclines are used to simulate pollutants, proving that Azo@Ag/Ag2O/CN achieves intelligent responsiveness under different wavelengths of light. Azo@Ag/Ag2O/CN exhibits conversion from a trans structure to a cis structure when irradiated by UV light, while Vis light irradiation shows the opposite reaction. The photocatalytic degradation rate of the Azo@Ag/Ag2O-10/CN photocatalyst reached 87.7% under Vis light irradiation. Azo@Ag/Ag2O/CN will be converted from a cis structure to a trans structure, and the Ag/Ag2O-10/CN photocatalyst can be released and the contact angle does not change around 130°, showing a state of relaxation. In order to solve the geometric offset caused by replacing the filter during imaging of multichannel spectral image data, a multichannel spectral image registration method based on SURF feature merged with maximum submatrix is proposed. Firstly, the feature of multichannel spectral image is extracted by SURF. Then, a perspective transformation is performed to obtain a preliminary registration image. For the problem of invalid areas with zero pixel values appearing at the boundary of the image after registration, the largest submatrix is used to detect the maximum inscribed rectangle of the image to remove the invalid boundary region, and maximize the reserved effective region information. Experimented was processed with multichannel imaging data of murals. Experimental results agree with the theoretic analysis and verified that the proposed registration method is better adapted to image scale and brightness changing. At the same time, it can avoid the influence of invalid regions generated by other registration methods on subsequent spectral reconstruction and color restoration which has better performance. Bioactives can impact food function either by their dosage or by their forms of dispersion, though the latter remains mostly neglected. Here we report the incidental nanoparticles (iNPs) carrying hepatoprotective bioactives identified in freshwater clam (Corbicula fluminea Muller) soup, which is a folk remedy for liver conditions in East Asia. The soup was fractionated into two iNPs containing fractions with high yield (95.8%) in 35 min by gel chromatography. With hydrodynamic diameter (D h) range from 40 nm to 149 nm, iNPs were mainly constituted by carbohydrates and proteins. Notably, the majority of bioactives, e.g. taurine (63.2%), ornithine (68.1%) and phytosterols (60.0%), was determined to be carried by the iNPs. It suggested a possible mechanism of elevated delivery and absorption of bioactives, explaining why the clam soup can work at the bioactive concentrations way lower than the individual compound. Near‐infrared (NIR) organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) show great potential in a variety of applications including sensors, night vision, and information security. Despite the superiority of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) in 100 % exciton harvesting, the development of NIR TADF OLEDs is still a great challenge, especially in terms of solution‐processing technology. In this work, a multicyano acceptor of 2‐dicyanomethylene‐3‐cyano‐4,5,5‐trimethyl‐2,5‐dihydrofurance (TCF) with strong electron‐withdrawing ability was employed to construct solution‐processible NIR emitters, CzTCF and tBCzTCF, with the feature of donor–π–acceptor (D–π–A) structure. The significantly enhanced intermolecular charge transfer effects not only render the deep‐red and NIR emissions of CzTCF and tBCzTCF films, respectively, but also lead to their typical TADF characteristics. Consequently, the nondoped solution‐processed NIR OLED based on tBCzTCF was successfully demonstrated with the peak wavelength of 715 nm, which paves the way for developing NIR emitters without polycyclic aromatic cores and heavy‐metal ions. A multicyano‐substituted acceptor and styryl π‐conjugate linker were both optimized to realize efficient NIR thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters (CzTCF and tBCzTCF) with simple D–π–A structure. The three linearly distributed cyano groups in TCF and the longer conjugation in the styryl π‐linker effectively regulated the D–A interactions and the frontier molecular orbital distributions (see scheme). • Catalase-induced vigorous superoxide production in fish oil nano-emulsion. • The resulting superoxide caused fatal oxidative damages in murine macrophage. • The fish oil induced cell death can be inhibited by a catalase-specific inhibitor. • The cell death involves ferroptosis but not apoptosis. • A hidden health risk of the fish oil nano-emulsion was discovered. Fish oil is increasingly utilised in the form of nano-emulsion as a nutrient and function fortifier. The nano-emulsions exceptionally high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids and electron donors at the oil/water interface provide an ideal site of the redox reaction. Here we report that a vigorous superoxide production in the fish oil nano-emulsion was catalysed by mammalian catalase in acellular and cellular systems. The resulting superoxide increased cytosolic reactive oxygen species (ROS) and membrane lipid peroxidation of murine macrophage, which eventually causes fatal oxidative damages. Cell death, was significantly inhibited by a catalase-specific inhibitor 3-Amino-1,2,4-triazole (3-AT), was via ferroptosis and not apoptosis. The ferroptosis was independent of free iron or glutathione peroxidase suppression. Our findings discovered a hidden health risk of the widely acclaimed fish oil emulsion, suggesting a novel cellular damage mechanism caused by dietary unsaturated fats on the alimentary tract mucosa. The antidiabetic effects of Ge-Gen-Qin-Lian-Tang decoction (GQD) have been proven clinically. In a pharmacological study conducted on STZ-induced diabetic rats, the constitutive aggregates/sediments of Ge-Gen-Qin-Lian-Tang decoction exhibited stronger hypoglycemic and antioxidant activities compared to the soluble compositions. This study aims to demonstrate the pharmacological properties of aggregates derived from GQD by measuring permeability of the active monomer phytochemicals (e.g., baicalin) in a Caco-2 cell monolayer and determine the cellular viability, intracellular redox status (MDA and SOD), and insulin secretion of pancreatic β-cell line, INS-1, following STZ-induced oxidative stress. The aggregates were separated into three fractions, namely, “MA (microaggregates),” “400 g supernatant,” and “MNA (micro-/nanoaggregates),” by centrifugation at 400 ×g and 15000 ×g, respectively. Aggregates in the sediment increased baicalin absorption, showed little toxicity to β-cells, elevated intracellular SOD levels, and significantly suppressed oxidative damage effects on cellular viability and functions. The “MA” fraction had a larger particle size and provided higher antioxidant cellular protection than “MNA” in vitro, implying that the sediments may be the active components in the herbal decoction. The actions of these micro-/nanoaggregates may provide a new perspective for understanding the antidiabetic effects of herbal decoctions and aid in interpretation of synergistic actions between the multiple components. In this work, thermo-responsive PNIPAM@AgBr/CSs composite photocatalysts were successfully fabricated by grafting method. The thermo-responsive composite photocatalysts were further characterized by SEM, EDS, XRD, FT-IR, DRS and PL, the results demonstrated that the surface of CSs was successfully loaded with AgBr and further grafted with PNIPAM, and the grafted PNIPAM not only obtained the thermo-responsive performance, but also synergistically enhanced visible light photocatalytic activity toward degradation of tetracycline (TC) antibiotics. The influenced factors of photocatalytic degradation were also investigated, the results showed that the dosage of PNIPAM and the reacted temperature were obviously affected the degradation rate of TC. Lastly, the photocatalytic degradation mechanism of as-obtained thermo-sensitive photocatalyst was also discussed in detail. Strigolactones (SLs) are a class of phytohormones that regulate plant shoot branching and adventitious root development. However, little is known regarding the role of SLs in controlling the behavior of the smallest unit of the organism, the single cell. Here, taking advantage of a classic single-cell model offered by the cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) fiber cell, we show that SLs, whose biosynthesis is fine-tuned by gibberellins (GAs), positively regulate cell elongation and cell wall thickness by promoting the biosynthesis of very long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs) and cellulose, respectively. Furthermore, we identified two layers of transcription factors (TFs) involved in the hierarchical regulation of this GA–SL crosstalk. The top-layer TF GROWTH-REGULATING FACTOR 4 (GhGRF4) directly activates expression of the SL biosynthetic gene DWARF27 (D27) to increase SL accumulation in fiber cells and GAs induce GhGRF4 expression. SLs induce the expression of four second-layer TF genes (GhNAC100-2 , GhBLH51 , GhGT2 , and GhB9SHZ1), which transmit SL signals downstream to two ketoacyl-CoA synthase genes (KCS) and three cellulose synthase (CesA) genes by directly activating their transcription. Finally, the KCS and CesA enzymes catalyze the biosynthesis of VLCFAs and cellulose, respectively, to regulate development of high-grade cotton fibers. In order to improve the accuracy of signal recovery after transmitting over atmospheric turbulence channel, a deep-learning-based signal detection method is proposed for a faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) hybrid modulated optical wireless communication (OWC) system. It takes advantage of the long short-term memory (LSTM) network in the recurrent neural network (RNN) to alleviate the interdependence problem of adjacent symbols. Moreover, an LSTM attention decoder is constructed by employing the attention mechanism, which can alleviate the shortcomings in conventional LSTM. The simulation results show that the bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed LSTM attention neural network is 1 dB better than that of the back propagation (BP) neural network and outperforms by 2.5 dB when compared with the maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) detection method. Background: Heat stress is a major abiotic stress affecting the growth and development of plants, including crop species. Plants have evolved various adaptive strategies to help them survive heat stress, including maintaining membrane stability, encoding heat shock proteins (HSPs) and ROS-scavenging enzymes, and inducing molecular chaperone signaling. Brassinosteroids (BRs) are phytohormones that regulate various aspects of plant development, which have been implicated also in plant responses to heat stress, and resistance to heat in Arabidopsis thaliana is enhanced by adding exogenous BR. Brassinazole resistant 1 (BZR1), a transcription factor and positive regulator of BR signal, controls plant growth and development by directly regulating downstream target genes. However, the molecular mechanism at the basis of BR-mediated heat stress response is poorly understood. Here, we report the identification of a new factor critical for BR-regulated heat stress tolerance. Results: We identified ERF49 in a genetic screen for proteins required for BR-regulated gene expression. We found that ERF49 is the direct target gene of BZR1 and that overexpressing ERF49 enhanced sensitivity of transgenic plants to heat stress. The transcription levels of heat shock factor HSFA2, heat stress-inducible gene DREB2A, and three heat shock protein (HSP) were significantly reduced under heat stress in ERF49-overexpressed transgenic plants. Transcriptional activity analysis in protoplast revealed that BZR1 inhibits ERF49 expression by binding to the promoter of ERF49. Our genetic analysis showed that dominant gain-of-function brassinazole resistant 1-1D mutant (bzr1-1D) exhibited lower sensitivity to heat stress compared with wild-type. Expressing ERF49-SRDX (a dominant repressor reporter of ERF49) in bzr1-1D significantly decreased the sensitivity of ERF49-SRDX/bzr1-1D transgenic plants to heat stress compared to bzr1-1D. Conclusions: Our data provide clear evidence that BR increases thermotolerance of plants by repressing the expression of ERF49 through BZR1, and this process is dependent on the expression of downstream heat stress-inducible genes. This study investigated the feasibility of sulfate modification of Lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBPs) and their potential anti‐HIV‐1 application. LBPs with different molecular weights were prepared by fractional precipitation from crude LBP via aqueous extraction, ethanol precipitation, and deproteinization. The purified LBPs (G1, G2, and G3) were sulfated using the chlorosulfonic acid pyridine method to obtain sulfated LBPs (G1S1–G1S4, G2S1–G2S4, and G3S1–G3S4) with different sulfur degrees of substitution. The anti‐HIV‐1 activity in vitro was evaluated via the TD50 from the cytotoxicity test and the IC50 inhibitory activity. The cytotoxicity and inhibitory activity in vitro were carried out using the CCK‐8 assay and MAGI test with Azidothymidine (AZT) as a positive control. The results show that the LBPs and the sulfated derivatives were not toxic towards CCK‐8 cells with TD50>100 μg/mL and they had strong anti‐HIV‐1 activity with IC50 values of 0.02–0.12 μg/mL. Compared with the LBPs, the anti‐HIV‐1 activity of the sulfated LBPs increased with IC50 values from 0.0924–0.1206 μg/mL to 0.0206–0.0722 μg/mL. Sulfate modification of LBPs can increase their anti‐HIV pharmacological activity, the G1S4 (Mw=2.13×104 Da and DS=1.12) showed relatively good in vitro anti‐HIV‐1 activity with an IC50 value near that of AZT (0.0200 μg/mL). Background and Study Aims: Elderly epilepsy is the third most common chronic disease that affects metabolism either alone or through antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). Here, we focus on whether neurocognitive profiles in elderly epilepsy and its treatment are linked to metabolic conditions. Patients and Methods: Elderly patients with epilepsy without cognitive impairment (n = 78) and with cognitive impairment (n = 75) were enrolled. C-reactive protein (CRP) and metabolic markers (triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-c), low-density lipoprotein (LDL-c), albumin, fasting glucose (Glu) and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c)) were measured. Serum markers were modeled using logistic regression analysis. Results: TG, TC, fasting glucose, HbA1c and CRP were significantly increased (p < 0.05, 0.05, 0.001, 0.001, 0.01, respectively) in elderly epilepsy, whereas HDL-c, LDL-c and serum albumin were decreased (p < 0.001, 0.001, 0.001) in elderly epilepsy. TG, TC, fasting Glu, HbA1c and CRP were significantly elevated (p < 0.05, 0.001, 0.001, 0.001, 0.001, respectively) in epilepsy with cognitive impairment, whereas HDL-c, LDL-c and serum albumin were decreased (p < 0.001, 0.001, 0.001). The abnormal glycolipid profile was predominated in AED-treated patients. The regression model combined with TG, LDL-c, HDL-c and albumin performed better (area under the ROC curve was 0.824) in AED-treated patients. Conclusion: The relevant relationship between glycolipid profile and cognitive impairment with epilepsy was described, and the logistic regression model based on serum TG, LDL-c, HDL-c and albumin is reported and may serve as promising diagnostic markers for elderly epilepsy with cognitive impairment. Co-MOF-74 materials were synthesized at different temperatures using solvothermal method. The effect of the synthetic temperature on the structure and low temperature NH 3 -SCR catalytic performance of Co-MOF-74 was systematically investigated. Co-MOF-74 synthesized at 100 °C has flower-like morphology, while hexagonal prism structures could be obtained at other temperatures. Co-MOF-74 with flower-like morphology has a larger specific surface area and pore volume compared with the hexagonal prism ones. The highest catalytic activity was obtained at 200 °C under the optimal synthesis temperature, which was attributed to the combination of special morphology, the highest specific surface area and Co content. We developed a tree-ring width chronology from pine trees ( Pinus tabulaeformis and Pinus armandii) stand near the peaks of Huashan, Shaanxi, north-central China. Growth-climate response analyses showed that the radial growth of pine trees is mainly influenced by April-June precipitation. A model to reconstruct precipitation based on tree widths was constructed, accounting for 55 % of the instrumental variance during the period 1953-2012. Spatial correlation analyses between the reconstruction and observed gridded precipitation data shows that the seasonal precipitation reconstruction captures regional climatic variations over north China. Compared with the historical archives and other tree-ring records in north China, many large-scale drought events, linked to the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO), were found. Many of these events have had profound impacts on the people of north China over the past several centuries. Composite maps of sea surface temperatures and 500 hPa geopotential heights for selected extremely dry and wet years in Huashan show characteristics similar to those related to the ENSO patterns, particularly with regard to ocean and atmospheric conditions in the equatorial and north Pacific. Our 531-year precipitation reconstruction for Huashan provides a long-term perspective on current and 20th century wet and dry events in north China, and is useful to guide expectations of future variability, and helps us to address climate change. Bacterial flagellins are often recognized by the receptor kinase FLAGELLIN SENSITIVE2 (FLS2) and activate MAMP-triggered immunity in dicotyledonous plants. However, the capacity of monocotyledonous rice to recognize flagellins of key rice pathogens and its biological relevance remain poorly understood. We demonstrate that ectopically expressed OsFLS2 in Arabidopsis senses the eliciting flg22 peptide and in vitro purified Acidovorax avenae ( Aa ) flagellin in an expression level-dependent manner, but does not recognize purified flagellins or derivative flg22 Xo peptides of Xanthomonas oryzae pvs. oryzae ( Xoo ) and oryzicola ( Xoc ). Consistently, the flg22 peptide and purified Aa flagellin, but not Xoo/Xoc flagellins, induce various immune responses such as defense gene induction and MAPK activation in rice. Perception of flagellin by rice does induce strong resistance to Xoo infection, as shown after pre-treatment of rice leaves with Aa flagellin. OsFLS2 was found to differ from AtFLS2 in its perception specificities or sensitivities to different flg22 sequences. In addition, post-translational modification of Xoc flagellin was altered by deletion of glycosyltransferase-encoding rbfC , but this had little effect on Xoc motility and rpfC mutation did not detectably reduce Xoc virulence on rice. Deletion of flagellin-encoding fliC from Xoo / Xoc blocked swimming motility but also did not significantly alter Xoo / Xoc virulence. These results suggest that Xoo / Xoc carry flg22-region amino acid changes that allow motility while evading the ancient flagellin detection system in rice, which retains recognition capacity for other bacterial pathogens. It has been revealed that numerous nanoparticles are formed during the boiling preparation of traditional Chinese medical decoctions and culinary soups. They may possess physiological effects different from those of constituent components and are worth paying attention to but are barely noticed and investigated as of yet. In this study, six groups of nanoparticles, whose size ranged from 57 to 300 nm, were successfully isolated from the decoction of Isatis indigotica Fort. root, according to their particle size by the means of size-exclusive chromatography. All of the obtained nanoparticles have a high content of polysaccharides, which distinguishes them from the disclosed BLG protein nanoparticles. They also have high similarities in other compositions, surface charge, and stimuli responses. However, four out of these six nanoparticles (F2, F3, F4, and F5) exhibited significant antiviral activity against influenza virus H1N1, and their antiviral activities and cytotoxicity towards MDCK cells varied with their sizes. It suggested that the antiviral efficacy of BLG decoction could also be from its nanoparticles besides its well-known antiviral phytochemicals. It also implied that the biological effects of these polysaccharide nanoparticles, including cytotoxicity and antiviral activity, may be correlative with the physicochemical properties, especially the particle size. In chip-integrated optical circuits, the polarization beam splitter (PBS) is one of the core elements that separates TE/TM modes and transmits them to different ports. We designed an ultracompact Si-based PBS with a footprint of 2 μm × 2 μm by an intelligent inverse design method. This method combines the method of moving asymptotes algorithm and the finite element method, and it has a high polarization extinction ratio (PER) and large splitting bandwidth from 850 to 1450 nm. The transmission of the TE and TM modes reaches 93% and 73%, respectively, and the average PER is 21 and 20 dB, respectively. The separation, transfer and recombination of charge often affect the rate of photocatalytic reduction of CO 2. Schottky junctions can promote the rapid separation of space charge. Therefore, in this paper, Pd nanosheets were grown on the surface of DUT-67 by a hydrothermal method, and a Schottky junction was constructed between DUT-67 and Pd. Under the action of the Schottky junction, the CO yield of 0.3-Pd/DUT-67 reached 12.15 μmol/g/h, which was 17 times higher than that of DUT-67. Efficient charge transfer was demonstrated in photochemical experiments. The large specific surface area and the increased light utilization rate also contributed to the increase in the CO 2 reduction efficiency. Maillard reaction can influence the functionalities of myofibrillar protein (MP). Protein-saccharide Maillard-type conjugates improve the solubility of MP but impair its thermal gelling ability. Besides, the influences of Maillard reaction occurred between reducing sugar and free amino acids on MP were not inspected yet. In this study, arginine-glucose Maillard reaction products (MRPs) were adopted to investigate their effects on the physicochemical and gel properties of chicken MP. The results showed that Arg-Glc MRPs significantly decreased surface hydrophobicity and the content of reactive sulfhydryl group, subsequently influenced the gelling behavior and gel properties, e.g., water holding capacity and gel strength. The dynamic rheological results revealed that MRPs reduced the storage modulus value effectively. Scanning electron microscopy showed that the three-dimensional network structure of MP gel became coarser and irregular by the treatment of Arg-Glc MRPs. The agricultural green revolution spectacularly enhanced crop yield through modification of gibberellin (GA) signaling. However, in cotton, the GA signaling cascades remain elusive, limiting our potential to cultivate new cotton varieties and improve yield and quality. Here, we identified that GA prominently stimulated fiber elongation through the degradation of DELLA protein GhSLR1, thereby disabling GhSLR1's physical interaction with two transcription factors, GhZFP8 and GhBLH1. Subsequently, the resultant free GhBLH1 binds to GhKCS12 promoter and activates its expression to enhance VLCFAs biosynthesis. With a similar mechanism, the free GhZFP8 binds to GhSDCP1 promoter and activates its expression. As a result, GhSDCP1 upregulates the expression of GhPIF3 gene associated with plant cell elongation. Ultimately, the two parallel signaling cascades synergistically promote cotton fiber elongation. Our findings outline the mechanistic framework that translates the GA signal into fiber cell elongation, thereby offering a roadmap to improve cotton fiber quality and yield. Designing S-scheme heterojunctions is an effective method to improve the charge localization on the surface of photocatalysts. Their effective charge transport routes can be enhanced with the help of interfacial noble metal nanoparticles. Herein, an Ag/CuO@ZnIn 2 S 4 plasma S-scheme heterojunction with heterogeneous interfacial covalent bonds was successfully designed. The 15% Ag/CuO@ZnIn 2 S 4 has promising photocatalytic performance and stability with the highest CO and CH 4 yields of 6.9 and 54.4 µmol g−1 h−1 and CH 4 selectivity of 92.8%. It is evidenced that the photogenerated charge can be efficiently separated and transported due to the influence of both the S-scheme electron migration mode and the Cu-S covalent bond. The process is further accelerated by using precious metals as cocatalysts, which can then selectively convert CO 2 into CH 4. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic, widely used for packaging owing to its excellent properties, has become a major contributor to plastic waste, for which satisfactory recycling and upgrading treatment technologies are lacking. In this study, Co-doped CeO 2 was used as a photocatalyst to degrade PET plastics in water, and PET degradation was measured according to the weight loss rate. Peroxymonosulfate (PMS) addition to the photocatalytic system enabled the degradation of 53.82 ± 4.48 % of PET plastics, highlighting the excellent PET plastic degradation capability of the photocatalytic PMS system. The study investigated the effects of the catalyst-to-plastic ratio, PMS concentration, initial pH, inorganic anions, humic acid concentration, and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2) addition on the catalytic oxidation system. Contrast experiments revealed that H 2 O 2 addition to the photocatalysis/PMS oxidation system further improved the PET plastic degradation efficiency (91.61 ± 1.50 %). Liquid product analysis, electron paramagnetic resonance, and free radical quenching experiments confirmed that SO 4 − played the most significant role in PET degradation. Wide-light absorption performance and efficient carrier separation ability are the necessary conditions for excellent photocatalytic materials. In this research, g-C 3 N 4 QDs (CN QDs) and Au nano-particles (NPs) co-modified CeO 2 /Fe 3 O 4 micro-flowers (MFs) photocatalyst (CACeF) has been prepared. CO 2 photoreduction experiments showed that the composite had obviously enhanced photoreduction activity and photocatalytic stability. The yields of CO and CH 4 over it as catalyst in 4 h is about 5 and 8 times greater than that of pure CeO 2. Photoelectrochemical tests showed that the heterojunction between CN QDs and Au NPs can greatly improve the carrier separation ability and the light-utilization efficiency of photocatalysts. Besides, the excellent electronic transmission performance of Au NPs provided a specific channel for the electron transmission, and the strong local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of Au NPs resulted in a lot of hot-electrons can directly take part in the CO 2 photoreduction. The synergistic effect between CN QDs and Au NPs can further enhance the photocatalytic activity of the photocatalyst. With surfactants, butanediyl-1,4-bis(dimethylcetylammonium bromide) (16–4–16), and N,N-dimethylhexadecylamine (C16DMA), as the stabilizersand surface-modified reagents, stable oil-based nanofluids containinghydrophobic gold nanoparticles have been prepared. The gemini surfactant16–4–16 shows better performance than C16DMA for controlling the growth of gold particles. The gold nanoparticlesmodified by 16–4–16 are dispersed well in oil-basedfluids. Abstract: Fe2+/Fe3+@POPD/TiO2/fly-ash cenospheres photocatalysts has been successfully prepared by ions imprinting technology. The as-prepared ions imprinting photocatalysts have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectra (UV–Vis DRS) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR). The photocatalytic activity of the ions imprinting photocatalysts was studied by the degradation of ciprofloxacin antibiotics water under visible light irradiation (tungsten halogen lamp). The results showed that the iron ions imprinting photocatalysts could effectively promote the mutual transformation between Fe2+ and Fe3+, increased the separation rate of photoelectrons and holes in the cycling system, and improved the photocatalytic activity of degradation on the ciprofloxacin antibiotics solution. The photodegradation rate could reach 80% in 60min under visible light irradiation. According to our experimental results, the mechanisms of preparation and photodegradation process of ions imprinting photocatalysts were also proposed, respectively. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Spherical mesoporous MnO x nanoparticles were prepared by the thermolysis of a Mn-MOF-74 template. The morphologies of the MnO x nanoparticles were inherited from the Mn-MOF-74 template and the crystal structures of the MnO x particles could be regulated by changing the thermolysis conditions. These porous MnO x nanoparticles were tested as low-temperature selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalysts and they exhibited high activities. The sample prepared at 700 °C under a N 2 atmosphere had the largest specific surface area (89.1 m 2 /g) and the highest deNO x activity (98% NO conversion) with a N 2 selectivity of almost 100%. Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) materials are ideal electrode materials for supercapacitors (SCs) due to their high capacitance, large surface area and fast redox reaction. However, the limited reaction site of LDHs is one of the main obstacles to increasing the capacitance of SCs. Here, NiGa-LDH grown on nickel foam (NF) by one-step hydrothermal method is derived into Ni 2 P/NiGa 2 O 4 /NiGa-LDH/NF by partial phosphating method induced by NaH 2 PO 2. Ni 0.5 Ga 0.5 -LDH/NF has good electrochemical performance, and the capacitance can reach 295 mAh g−1 (2124F g−1) when the current density is 1 A g−1. Significantly, Ni 2 P/NiGa 2 O 4 /NiGa-LDH/NF well preserves the layered structure of LDHs, inherits the low transfer impedance of interlayer ions, and can greatly reduce the thickness of the nanosheets, exposing more active sites and speeding up the electron transfer speed. According to the first principle calculation, Ni 2 P and NiGa 2 O 4 formed by phosphating helps to increase the free electron ratio in Ni 2 P/NiGa 2 O 4 /NiGa-LDH/NF, thus improving the charge transfer behavior in electrochemical reactions. The material can provide an ultra-high electrochemical capacity of 454.7 mAh g−1 (3274F g−1) at 1 A g−1. In addition, a hybrid supercapacitors (HSCs) is prepared by coupling the Co 3 O 4 -C as negative electrode with the high capacitance Ni 2 P/NiGa 2 O 4 /NiGa-LDH/NF as positive electrode. The effects of Ga3+ with different molar ratios on the structure, morphology, crystallinity, ion transport mechanics and electrochemical properties of ternary LDHs electrode materials are systematically investigated. At Ga3+ = 1.0, the as-synthesized Ni 1 Co 3 Ga 1 -LDHs@CC exhibits a special electrochemical capacitance of 2012.5 F g-1 at 1 A g-1 with 57.7% capacitance retention observed at 5.0 A g-1. The synthesis and evaluation of the two bimetallic NiCo-LDHs and NiGa-LDHs are similar in order to demonstrate the performance improvement of gallium heterovalent substitution. And heterovalent substitution of gallium for cobalt ion and nickel ion is proved indirectly. Electrode materials are very important for the performance of supercapacitors (SCs). Therefore, preparation of hybrid electrode materials is an effective way to develop high-performance SCs. We firstly design and prepare metal organic framework (MOF) derived carbon nanotubes as the core skeleton to support the shell of a nickel gallium layered hydroxide nanosheet (NiGa-LDH). MOF derived carbon nanomaterials have high conductivity and a large specific surface area, which can promote electron transfer and improve the agglomeration of LDH. The deposited LDH can provide high specific capacitance and the layered structure can further enhance the reaction site. The NiGa-LDH@CNT-500@CC has an excellent specific capacitance of 2580 F g−1 at 1 A g−1 and a high capacitance retention rate of 83.3% at 5 A g−1 due to the synergistic effect of two materials. The assembled NiGa-LDH@CNT-500@CC//carbon NS asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) has an operating voltage of 1.6 V and a high energy density of 52 W h kg−1 at a power density of 952 W kg−1. Excitatory toxicity is still a hot topic in the study of ischemic stroke, and related research has focused mainly on neurons. Adenosine is an important neuromodulator that is known as a "biosignature" in the central nervous system (CNS). The protective effect of exogenous adenosine on neurons has been confirmed, but its mechanism remains elusive. In this study, astrocytes were pretreated with adenosine, and the effects of an A2a receptor (A2aR) inhibitor (SCH58261) and A2b receptor (A2bR) inhibitor (PSB1115) on excitatory glutamate were investigated. An oxygen glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) and glutamate model was generated in vitro. Post-model assessment included expression levels of glutamate transporters (glt-1), gap junction protein (Cx43) and glutamate receptor (AMPAR), Na+-K+-ATPase activity, and diffusion distance of dyes. Glutamate and glutamine contents were determined at different time points. The results showed that (1) adenosine could improve the function of Na+-K+-ATPase, upregulate the expression of glt-1, and enhance the synthesis of glutamine in astrocytes. This effect was associated with A2aR activation but not with A2bR activation. (2) Adenosine could inhibit the expression of gap junction protein (Cx43) and reduce glutamate diffusion. Inhibition of A2aR attenuated adenosine inhibition of gap junction intercellular communication (GJIC) in the OGD/R model, while it enhanced adenosine inhibition of GJIC in the glutamate model, depending on the glutamate concentration. (3) Adenosine could cause AMPAR gradually entered the nucleus from the cytoplasm, thereby reducing the expression of AMPAR on the cell membrane. Taken together, the results indicate that adenosine plays a role of anti-excitatory toxicity effect in protection against neuronal death and the functional recovery of ischemic stroke mainly by targeting astrocytes, which are closely related to A2aR. Highly dispersed nitrogen doped carbon (N–C) is decomposed by 2-methylimidazole (C4H6N2) and is used as a composite material with nickel cobaltite (NiCo2O4). The N–C and NiCo2O4 composites are obtained by a one-step hydrothermal method and subsequent calcination. In addition, N–C is used to control the morphology and structure of NiCo2O4 to obtain excellent capacitor materials. The N–C/NiCo2O4 electrode shows an excellent specific capacitance of 157.97 mA h g−1 (1263.75 F g−1) at 1 A g−1. Herein, we successfully develop a N–C/NiCo2O4//AC asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC), which is prepared using N–C/NiCo2O4 as a cathode coupled with activated carbon (AC) as an anode at a voltage of 1.6 V. The prepared N–C/NiCo2O4//AC device shows an excellent volumetric energy density of 66.44 mW h kg−1. The localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect has shown significant progress in enhancing the efficiency of light absorption and separating photogenerated carriers. Herein, the dual-plasma enhanced 2D/2D/2D g-C 3 N 4 /Pd/MoO 3-x (CPM) S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts were synthesized using the method of hydrothermal and electrostatic self-assembly for high-selectivity photocatalytic reduction of CO 2 to produce CO. The dual LSPR effect of MoO 3-x and ultrathin Pd nanosheets synergistically broadened the optical response range of the CPM composites and successfully improved the photocatalytic activity and near-infrared (NIR) performance. The optimized CPM-30 photocatalysts exhibited CO yields of 18.55 μmol g−1 with a selectivity of 96.3%. In addition, the CO yield reached 3.92 μmol g−1 after 4 h of NIR light photoirradiation. The electron spin resonance (ESR) and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS) tests showed that the S-scheme heterojunctions were constructed by coupling g-C 3 N 4 /Pd nanosheets and MoO 3-x. • SnS 2 atomic layer with Pt 3 Co nanoclusters have been successfully prepared. • Nanoclusters can enrich electrons, reduce barriers, and promote proton transport. • The photoelectric properties of catalysts is significantly enhanced. • The CO 2 photoreduction efficiency of the SnS 2 /Pt 3 Co catalyst is markedly improved. Poor capability of charge-holes separation and slower surface CO 2 reaction kinetics hinder photocatalytic performance. Here, SnS 2 atomic layer with Pt 3 Co alloy nanoclusters have been successfully prepared. Nanoclusters could be used as highly catalytic active sites, which not only facilitates the carrier separation and transport kinetics, but enriches electrons lowered the reaction barrier. As expected, the CO evolution rate of the champion SnS 2 /Pt 3 Co catalyst was 13.6 times higher than that of the original SnS 2 catalyst under white light irradiation. In-situ DRIFTS identifies key intermediate in the photoreduction process. In-situ XPS and DFT calculation further verifies the electron transport direction and charge density distribution at the SnS 2 /Pt 3 Co interface. Our work uncovers the role of nanoclusters in carrier separation and transport as well as proton transport, opening new chances for obtaining efficient photoreduction CO 2 property. Achieving the intelligent controllability of the photocatalyst to the surrounding environment is a very meaningful work. Here, the polyacrylic acid (PAA) modified Ag/AgCl-40/CN composite was constructed to achieve an intelligent response of pH value. PAA exhibits hydrophilic properties at high pH value, increasing the adsorption capacity to tetracycline (TC) molecules. The morphology of PAA from contracted state to diastolic state, releasing the Ag/AgCl-40/CN catalyst. In addition, PAA modified Ag/AgCl-40/CN can prevent the loss of AgCl. The g-C 3 N 4 nanosheets (CN) as a carrier enhance the dispersibility of the AgCl particles. The LSPR effects of Ag nanoparticles produce more electrons acting on photocatalytic degradation. On the results of experiment, the degradation of TC by PAA@Ag/AgCl-40/CN shows an excellent degradation activity when the high pH value. Photoluminescence spectroscopy and photocurrent demonstrate that carrier separation efficiency of PAA@Ag/AgCl-40/CN is higher than CN and Ag/AgCl-40/CN. The detection of the main active substances •O 2 − and h+, revealing a reasonable mechanism for the PAA@Ag/AgCl-40/CN hybrid system. ZnO/g-C3N4 was prepared by carrying out a simple one-step calcination process. The ZnO/g-C3N4 composite was characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), transient photocurrent responses and photo-luminescence (PL) spectroscopy. Compared with pure g-C3N4, the composite showed increased photocurrent under UV irradiation, and overall significantly improved photocatalytic performance. Photocatalytic experiments showed specifically the composite made of a ZnO-to-g-C3N4 mass ratio of 3 : 1 displaying the best catalytic performance. The yields of CO and CH4 under UV irradiation were, respectively, 13.4 times and 49.7 times that of g-C3N4. In addition, a direct Z-scheme electron transfer mechanism was proposed to possibly play a large role in reducing charge recombination and to effectively improve photocatalytic CO2 reduction. Of all the aerobic respiration by-products, cytotoxic superoxide derived from mitochondrial-leaked electrons, is the only one known to be disposed of intracellularly. Is this fate the only destiny for mitochondrial-leaked electrons? When Cynomolgus monkeys were injected intravenously with reactive oxygen species (ROS) indicators, the connective tissues of dura mater, facial fascia, pericardium, linea alba, dorsa fascia and other body parts, emitted specific and intense fluorescent signals. Moreover, the fluorescent signals along the linea alba of SD rats, did not result from the local presence of ROS but from the interaction of ROS indicators with electrons flowing through this tissue. Furthermore, the electrons travelling along the linea alba of mice were revealed to originate from mitochondria. These data suggest that mitochondrial-leaked electrons may be transported extracellularly to a hitherto undescribed system of connective tissues, which is pervasively networked, electrically conductive and metabolically related. 2D/2D heterojunction photocatalyst of CdIn 2 S 4 on nitrogen doped reduced graphene (N-rGO) was fabricated by in situ hydrothermal method. It is noticeable that the flower-like CdIn 2 S 4 photocatalyst composed of film is controlled by the temperature of synthesis process. When CdIn 2 S 4 photocatalyst load on N-rGO, irregular film N-rGO functions as support to disperse the CdIn 2 S 4 , forming the 2D/2D interfacial structure, which is confirmed by SEM, TEM and HRTEM. When the mass fraction of N-rGO is 10%, the binary composite photocatalyst could photodegrade 80% 50 mg/L 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP). That is because the heterojunction formed between CdIn 2 S 4 and N-rGO promotes the electron transfer, especially the interfacial contact region. What's more, the N-rGO can efficiently accumulate the 2,4-DCP molecules because of its unique structure, bettering the contact rate between 2,4-DCP and the whole photocatalyst. The possible mechanism of photodegrading 2,4-DCP was discussed and investigated. This work highlights the synergistic effect, especially the harmony between charge transfer and active sites to benefit the photocatalytic performance. High selectivity and fast charge separation are two important factors for photocatalytic wastewater treatment. Herein, we prepared a molecular imprinted Ag/Ag 3 VO 4 /g-C 3 N 4 photocatalyst (MIP) that exhibited great specific recognition ability along with excellent photocatalytic activity. The ultrathin g-C 3 N 4 nanosheets with high surface are used to prepare. The Z-scheme Ag 3 VO 4 /g-C 3 N 4 heterostructure and the surface plasmon resonance of the photoreduced Ag0 together contributed to the improvement of the separation efficiency of photogenerated electrons and holes. In addition, MIP provides the specific recognition ability to preferentially adsorb the target pollutant. The selectivity of photocatalysis was evaluated by the degradation of oxytetracycline and tetracycline solutions. Photoluminescence and transient photocurrent measurements further prove the improved charge separation efficiency of MIP. A plausible photocatalytic reaction mechanism is proposed based on electron spin resonance measurement and the active species trapping experiments, where indicates that the main active species of this photocatalytic process are O 2 − and h+. The interfacial regulation strategy between semiconductors can effectively promote the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers and enhance photocatalytic activity under the synergistic effect. Herein, AgInS 2 QDs-MoS 2 /GO (AIS-MS/GO) composites were prepared by interfacial coupling of AgInS 2 QDs (AIS), hierarchical MoS 2 and ultrathin GO. Ultrathin GO successfully solved the agglomeration problem of AIS and hierarchical MoS 2. Moreover, the photogenerated carriers were effectively separated and transferred under the synergistic effect of the AIS-MS heterojunction and ultrathin GO, thus promoting tetracycline (TC) degradation and CO 2 reduction performance. The degradation rate of tetracycline (TC) reached 96.5 %, and the yields of CO and CH 4 in the CO 2 reduction products reached 52.6 and 28.5 μmol g–1, respectively, when using the optimized photocatalyst. In-situ FTIR analysis indicated that TC is gradually degraded by small molecules on the composite surface, and has excellent dissociation ability of water molecules during the CO 2 reduction process. This work provides a new vision for the rational design of heterojunction-based photocatalysts using the interfacial regulation strategy for enhancing interfacial charge separation and photocatalytic performance. A simple, efficient, and low-cost Maillard reaction method was developed through ethanol-water pretreatment. The formation of whey protein isolate (WPI)–dextran conjugates was confirmed using the degree of glycosylation, ultraviolet absorbance, browning intensity, color, and sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The significant conformational changes were illuminated because of the higher wavenumber shift of absorption peaks of FTIR amide I, II, and III bands, the reduction of fluorescent signal, and the decrease of surface hydrophobicity. Scanning electron microscopy revealed the morphological transition of WPI from a smooth sphere to an inhomogeneous block structure with rough and uneven surface before and after covalent grafting of dextran. The strong steric hindrance and abundant hydrophilic hydroxyl groups from covalently conjugated dextran dramatically inhibited the aggregation between conjugate molecules which exhibited low turbidity and good solubility in a wide pH range from 2.0 to 10.0. Emulsifying activity and emulsifying stability of WPI were significantly improved after glycosylation. This work will be beneficial to control the formation of light-colored Maillard reaction products under high substrate concentration, high reaction rate, and low water content at mild temperatures for short processing time, and to facilitate the large-scale preparation of glycosylated protein with desirable physicochemical properties. Near‐infrared (NIR) thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials have great potential for applications in many fields. However, it is more challenging for such kinds of materials to achieve efficient NIR emission in comparison to visible light.
