73. Efficient Li+/Mg2+separation nanofiltration membranes modified by amine-functionalized TiO2nanoparticles

Abstract

Positively charged nanofiltration (NF) membranes are widely used to separate Li+and Mg2+, which play an important role in extracting lithium from salt lakes. Despite its widespread use, the polyethyleneimine-trimesoyl chloride (PEI-TMC) membrane has attracted attention due to its limited permeance and separation efficiency. To address these challenges, we introduced amine-functionalized titanium dioxide (TiO2-NH2) nanoparticles into the interfacial polymerization (IP) reaction. The introduction of TiO2-NH2reduced the diffusion rate of PEI and formed nanoscale water channels in the polyamide (PA) layer. This modification effectively modulated the structure of the NF membrane. The NF membrane exhibited high water permeance (9.65 L·m−2·h−1·bar−1) and Li+/Mg2+selectivity (SLi, Mg= 16.31) when 0.03 wt% TiO2-NH2was used. The DLVO theory and transition state theory showed that the introduction of TiO2-NH2improved the rejection of Li+and Mg2+by the membrane. Furthermore, the optimized NF membranes demonstrated excellent stability during long-term filtration and in the mixed salt solutions with varying Mg2+/Li+mass ratios. This work is of great significance for designing and advancing membrane materials that facilitate the efficient separation of lithium from salt lakes with high Mg2+/Li+mass ratios.

Abstract

Abstract In this article, a two-description distributed video coding (2D-DVC) is proposed to address the robust video transmission of low-power capturers. The odd/even frame-splitting partitions a video into two sub-sequences to produce two descriptions. Each description consists of two parts, where part 1 is a zero-motion based H.264-coded bitstream of a sub-sequence and part 2 is a Wyner-Ziv (WZ)-coded bitstream of the other sub-sequence. As the redundant part, the WZ-coded bitstream guarantees that the lost sub-sequence is recovered when one description is lost. On the other hand, the redundancy degrades the rate-distortion performance as no loss occurs. A residual 2D-DVC is employed to further improve the rate-distortion performance, where the difference of two sub-sequences is WZ encoded to generate part 2 in each description. Furthermore, an optimization method is applied to control an appropriate amount of redundancy and therefore facilitate the tuning of central/side distortion tradeoff. The experimental results show that the proposed schemes achieve better performance than the referenced one especially for low-motion videos. Moreover, our schemes still maintain low-complexity encoding property.

Abstract

In this paper, a LVRT experimental platform for direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous generator (D-PMSG) wind generation system is constructed. The paper uses DC motors, gearboxes and flywheels to simulate the torque characteristic, low speed characteristic and big inertia characteristic of actual wind turbine. Considering the voltage sag of actual power grid, different types of voltage sag are analyzed, and a control strategy for voltage sag generator, which can generate voltage sag of different types, sag depth and sag duration, is proposed. A coordinated control strategy of active power and reactive power for full power converters is proposed. When the grid voltage sag, the reactive power was conveyed to the power grid preferentially. Then the active power is transported furthest. Simulation and experiment show that the voltage sag generator can generate all types of power grid voltage sag waveform, and the LVRT platform can verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy effectively.

Abstract

In recent decades globalization has provided an opportunity window for developing country, which economy is booming at an amazing speed. Probed into the path of their development, the rapid economic growth starts from utilizing well-established technologies imported from developed countries, taking the "advantages of relative backwardness". This paper introduces a research exploring the evolution process of technology innovation of a typical Chinese equipment-manufacturing enterprise and elaborates the way to achieve late mover's advantage from imitation to innovation. Four stages are identified in the process, in which the essentials to enhance competitive advantage are analyzed separately. Forms to participate in global manufacturing, R & D capabilities and characteristics of innovation activities at different developing stages are examined to expand the process and mechanism of technology innovation in the environment of globalization. It also provides some perspectives for the technology catching-up of enterprises in developing countries.

Abstract

The colour of plant organs is a useful trait in crop breeding. The pod colours of soybeans primarily include black, brown and tan types, which are controlled by two classical genetic loci, L1 and L2. Most wild soybeans have black pods, which reflect a possible role in adaptation to the natural environment. Here, an improved chromosome segment substitution line ( CSSL) population Soja CSSLP3 was established to identify the L1 gene. The segment on the 19th chromosome represented by the SSR marker Satt313 was found to link with locus L1. The region was further delimited three times with increased SSR and InDel markers using a population derived from a heterozygous plant of CSSL124 from Soja CSSLP3. The L1 gene was finally located in a 184.43-kb region between SSR_19p09 and Indel_19P7. Thirteen putative genes in this region were analysed with qRT- PCR. The expression level of Glyma19 g27460, which is a member of the SANT superfamily with a MYB DNA-binding domain, was significantly upregulated in black pods and was recognized to be the most likely candidate for the L1 gene. 99. Dealloying of Pt 1 Bi 2 intermetallic toward optimization of electrocatalysis on a Bi-continuous nanoporous core-shell structure.

Abstract

Noble metal nanoporous materials hold great potential in the field of catalysis, owing to their high open structures and numerous low coordination surface sites. However, the formation of porous nanoparticles is restricted by particle size. Herein, we utilized a Pt 1 Bi 2 intermetallic nanocatalyst to develop a dealloying approach for preparing nanoparticles with a bi-continuous porous and core-shell structure and proposed a mechanism for the formation of pores. The particle size used to form the porous structure can be <10 nm, which enhances the nanocatalyst's performance for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). This study provides a new understanding of the formation of porous materials via a dealloying approach.

Abstract

Legume plants form symbiotic relationships with rhizobia to convert N2 into ammonia, and the nodulation status can affect plant development including photosynthesis. However, the relationship between nitrogen fixation and photosynthesis during carbon and nitrogen metabolism remains unclear. This study was undertaken to unravel regulation of nodulation and photosynthesis using a spontaneous nonnodulated soybean mutant by grafting. The results of inheritance and gene mapping showed that the nonnodulated mutant was controlled by a recessive gene overlapped with the reported rj1 locus, and might be a new rj1 allele with 1 bp deletion in the fourth exon in comparison to the sequence of normal nodulation plants. According to grafting results, soybean nodulation is obviously determined by the roots, not the seedlings. Moreover, nitrogen content along with related metabolic enzyme activity, and photosynthetic capacity were enhanced by nonnodulated scions grafted with nodulated roots. Contrary results were obtained for nodulated scions grafted with nonnodulated roots. A total of 853 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the leaves and 1874 in the roots were identified by transcriptome analyses of the grafting treatments. We identified 285 differential gene ontology (GO) terms and 57 differential pathway terms identified in the leaves, while 856 differential GO terms and 207 differential pathway terms in the roots. Twenty DEGs interacting at translation level were selected, and the results of transcriptome analyses were verified by q-PCR. These findings indicated that the nodulation-related Nod allelic gene increases the nitrogen content of nonnodulated plants, which affects the enzymes involved in nitrogen metabolism, leading to changes in hormone levels and further regulation of photosynthesis and carbon metabolism., (© The Author(s) 2021.
