Tin oxide (SnO2) film is a promising photoanode for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) with excellent optical and electrical properties as well as facile accessibility. Highly efficient DSCs require a fast charge transfer from dye to SnO2 in order to reduce the recombination from trap states. Herein, we report a Cu-doped SnO2 film as a photoanode for DSCs with faster charge transfer and higher efficiency. Ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy study indicates that conduction band of the Cu-doped SnO2 is adjusted from − 4.75 to − 4.57 eV via 5 at.% Cu concentrations. By adjusting the Cu concentrations, energy offset between the SnO2 and dye is reduced, which accelerates the charge transfer. Power conversion efficiency of the DSCs with optimized Cu-doped SnO2 achieves 4.01%, which is 61.7% higher than its counterpart without Cu doping. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Rapid propagation of plants by tissue culture is of great significance for large-scale production, molecular genetics research, and breeding. Currently, a rapid and high-efficient tissue culture protocol for Euonymus bungeanus is needed. To develop a propagation system for this species, we established a new regeneration system from leaves. Callus formation was induced on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 0.5 mg dm-3 6-benzylaminopurine (6-BA) and 0.5 mg dm-3 a-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and the induction rate almost reached 100 % under red radiation within 21 d. The medium for proliferation of adventitious buds comprised of MS medium with 1.0 mg dm-3 6-BA and 0.5 mg dm-3 NAA, and the induction rate within 20 d nearly reached 100 %. When, the adventitious buds were transferred to the rooting medium containing ½MS, 2.0 mg dm-3 indole-3-butyric acid (IBA), and 0.05 mg dm-3 NAA, adventitious root formation was achieved within 20 d. Collectively, the rapid and high-efficient regeneration system from E. bungeanus leaves was established, providing useful references for effective mass propagation and it could serve as an enabling technology for future genetic engineering. OBJECTIVE: We aimed at identifying the predictive roles of Low-Density Lipoprotein Triglycerides (LDL-TG) for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs). PATIENTS AND METHODS: A longitudinal study in a routine health check-up population was performed with an average follow-up of 4.8 years. The participants involved in this study were 1680, from 2007 to 2009, and all had followed-up for all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease mortality, and the development of MACEs. The demographic information and anthropometric parameters at baseline were recorded. The baseline and follow-up conventional lipid parameters were measured. We also examined the level LDL-TG, as well as the relationship between its level and MACEs. RESULTS: MACEs individuals were characterized by statistically higher baseline LDL-TG (17.22 ± 8.05 vs. 16.39 ±7.35 nmol/l, p = 0.017). The univariate regression for MACEs group indicated that the LDL-TG (β = 0.813, HR = 2.254, 95% CI: 1.454-3.494, p < 0.001), older age, sex and other factors were a significant risk for MACEs. Furthermore, in the adjusted Cox model showed that only higher baseline LDL-TG (β =0.512, HR = 1.669, 95% CI: 1.013-2.748, p = 0.044) and older age (β = 0.062, HR = 1.064, 95% CI: 1.034-1.094, p < 0.001, Table IV) were still predictors for MACEs. CONCLUSIONS: Higher baseline LDL-TG closely associated with MACEs and it is a moderate and independent predictive factor for MACEs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
