Intracranial aneurysms associated with cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are a rare condition in the clinic, and treatment is very difficult due to their particular anatomical features. We present our experience in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms with AVMs and evaluate the effectiveness and safety of endovascular treatment combined with microsurgical resection (the hybrid operation).This was a single-center retrospective study in our neurosurgical department from January 2015 to January 2021. We collected clinical data from 48 patients with intracranial aneurysms associated with AVMs and categorized them according to Redekop classifications according to the results of cerebral imaging examination to compare the therapeutic effects of endovascular embolization and the hybrid operation.Compared to nonaneurysmal AVMs, intracranial aneurysms with AVMs more often presented with intracranial hemorrhage (P0.05). Massive hematoma and severe neurological impairment were more often found in patients with intracranial aneurysms with AVMs (P0.05). For flow-related aneurysms, the hybrid surgery had a higher one-stage cure rate than endovascular embolization alone (P0.05). Both treatment methods had similar effects on intranidal aneurysms (P0.05). There were no significant differences in prognostic indicators between the two treatments. However, the recurrence rate of AVMs with proximal flow-related aneurysms was lower in patients who underwent the hybrid operation (P0.05).The hybrid operation was safe and effective for patients with intracranial aneurysms associated with AVMs. For flow-related aneurysms, the one-stage cure rate was higher and the recurrence rate was lower with the hybrid operation than with endovascular embolization alone.

Introduction: Some patients with idiopathic membranous nephropathy (iMN) do not respond to cyclophosphamide plus steroids treatment, and we define them as non-responsive iMN. The combined regimen of rituximab (RTX) and tacrolimus (TAC) has an excellent effect on this kind of non-responsive iMN patients; however, the optimal dose is still unclear. In this retrospective study, we comapred the efficacy and safety of ultra-low dose RTX plus low-dose TAC therapy versus standard TAC monotherapy in patients with non-responsive iMN. Materials and methods: Sixty-seven Chinese non-responsive iMN patients were included. There were 41 patients received standard tacrolimus monotherapy (TAC) and 26 patients received ultra-low dose rituximab plus low dose tacrolimus (RTX/TAC) combination therapy. All patients were observed for 12 months. Results: 18 patients (18/26, 69.2%) in the RTX/TAC group and 17 patients (17/41, 41.5%) in the TAC group achieved clinical response after 12-month follow-up (P=0.044). The median time for achieving response in the two groups was 3.0 months. As indicated by Kaplan-Meier curve, the response rate in the RTX/TAC group was higher than that in the TAC group (P=0.015). 24-hour proteinuria, serum albumin, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and serum creatinine in the two groups were comparable at baseline; howerver, after 12-month follow up, they were significantly improved in the RTX/TAC group compared with the TAC group (P

Body size is an important indicator of growth and health in sheep. In the present study, we performed Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) to detect significant single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with Hu sheep’s body size. After genotyping parental (G1) and offspring (G2) generation of the nucleus herd for meat production of Hu sheep and conducting GWAS on the body height, chest circumference, body length, tail length, and tail width of the two groups, 5 SNPs associated with body height and 4 SNPs correlated with chest circumference were identified at the chromosomal significance level. No SNPs were significantly correlated to body length, tail length, and width. Four out of the 9 SNPs were found to be located within the 4 genes. KITLG and CADM2 are considered as candidate functional genes related to body height; MCTP1 and COL4A6 are candidate functional genes related to chest circumference. The 9 SNPs found in GWAS were verified using the G3 generation of the nucleus herd for meat production. Nine products were amplified around the 9 sites, and 29 SNPs were found; 3 mutation sites, G > C mutation at 134 bp downstream of s554331, T > G mutation at 19 bp upstream of s26859.1, and A > G mutation at 81 bp downstream of s26859.1, were significantly correlated to the body height. Dual-luciferase reporter gene experiments showed that the 3 SNPs could significantly impact dual-luciferase and gene transcription activity.

Early weaning is usually applied to improve the reproductive efficiency of sheep in mutton production, while the development of rumen is of vital importance for sheep weaning age. Translationally controlled tumor protein (TCTP) is a highly conserved protein which participates in multiple tissue and organ development. Thus, we hypothesized that TCTP was involved in sheep rumen development. Histological analyses of sheep rumen epithelium showed that the epithelium formed tough shaped papillae without growing from birth to day 15 of age, after which it rapidly developed to functional epithelia on day 45 of age. We then found TCTP expressed in stratum basale, stratum spinosum and stratum granulosum of rumen epithelium. TCTP protein expression remained at a relative low level from day 0 to day 15 of age, it then significantly increased on day 30 (p < 0.05) and gradually decreased until day 60. Furthermore, to explore the role of TCTP in sheep rumen and its regulation, we found the ratio of Ki67 positive cell in stratum basale cells followed the similar pattern as the expression of TCTP. We also found the ratio of acetate:propionate in rumen fluid decreased from day 30 to day 60 of age (p < 0.05). To conclude, our data indicated that TCTP participated in rumen papillae growth by promoting rumen stratum basale cell proliferation.
