Compared with the result in free space, the spontaneous emission rate decrease because the phase space is smaller, and meanwhile, some resonance appears in some cases. The two heavy quarks in a baryon which contains two heavy quarks and a light one, can constitute a scalar or axial vector diquark. We study electromagnetic radiations of such baryons, (i) \Xi_{(bc)_1} -> \Xi_{(bc)_0}+\gamma, (ii) \Xi_{(bc)_1}^* -> \Xi_{(bc)_0}+\gamma, (iii) \Xi_{(bc)_0}^{**}(1/2, l=1) -> \Xi_{(bc)_0}+\gamma, (iv) \Xi_{(bc)_0}^{**}(3/2, l=1) -> \Xi_{(bc)_0}+\gamma and (v) \Xi_{(bc)_0}^{**}(3/2, l=2) -> \Xi_{(bc)_0}+\gamma, where \Xi_{(bc)_{0(1)}}, \Xi^*_{(bc)_1} are S-wave bound states of a heavy scalar or axial vector diquark and a light quark, and \Xi_{(bc)_0}^{**}(l is bigger than 1) are P- or D-wave bound states of a heavy scalar diquark and a light quark. Analysis indicates that these processes can be attributed into two categories and the physical mechanisms which are responsible for them are completely distinct. In this work we tried extensively to apply the EHNS postulation about the quantum mechanics violation effects induced by the quantum gravity of black holes to neutrino oscillations. In this paper, we study the pressure exerted by a confined ideal gas on the container boundary and we introduce a surface force in gases. First, the general expression for the local surface pressure tensor is obtained. We find, by examples, that the pressure vanishes at the edges of a box, peaks at the middle of the surface and its magnitude for different statistics satisfies pFermi > pclassical > pBose on every boundary point. Then, the relation between the surface pressure tensor and generalized forces is studied. Based on the relation, we find that a confined ideal gas can exert forces whose effect is to reduce the total surface area of the boundary of an incompressible object. The force provides mechanisms for several mechanical effects. (1) The force contributes to the adhesion of two thin films in contact with each other. We derive an expression for the adhesion force between two square sheets, estimate its magnitude, and also give a method for distinguishing it from other adhesion forces. (2) The force can lead to the recoiling of a DNA-like column. We study the recoiling process using a simple model and find a deviation from the result given in the thermodynamic limit, which is in accordance with experiments. (3) An open container immersed in a gas can be compressed by this force like the Casimir effect. We discuss the effect for various geometries.

The main aim of this paper is twofold: (1) revealing a relation between the counting function N(lambda) (the number of the eigenstates with eigenvalue smaller than a given number) and the heat kernel K(t), which is still an open problem in mathematics, and (2) introducing an approach for the calculation of N(lambda), for there is no effective method for calculating N(lambda) beyond leading order. We suggest a new expression of N(lambda) which is more suitable for practical calculations. A renormalization procedure is constructed for removing the divergences which appear when obtaining N(lambda) from a nonuniformly convergent expansion of K(t). We calculate N(lambda) for D-dimensional boxes, three-dimensional balls, and two-dimensional multiply-connected irregular regions. By the Gauss-Bonnet theorem, we generalize the simply-connected heat kernel to the multiply-connected case; this result proves Kac's conjecture on the two-dimensional multiply-connected heat kernel. In this paper, we calculate the equations of state and the thermodynamic quantities for two- and three-dimensional hard-sphere Bose and Fermi gases in finite-size containers. The approach we used to deal with interacting gases is to convert the effect of interparticle hard-sphere interaction to a kind of boundary effect, and then the problem of a confined hard-sphere quantum gas is converted to the problem of a confined ideal quantum gas with a complex boundary. For this purpose, we first develop an approach for calculating the boundary effect on d-dimensional ideal quantum gases and then calculate the equation of state for confined quantum hard-sphere gases. The thermodynamic quantities and their low-temperature and high-density expansions are also given. In higher-order contributions, there are cross terms involving both the influences of the boundary and of the interparticle interaction. In conventional scattering theory, to obtain an explicit result, one imposes a precondition that the distance between target and observer is infinite. With the help of this precondition, one can asymptotically replace the Hankel function and the Bessel function with the sine functions so that one can achieve an explicit result. Nevertheless, after such a treatment, the information of the distance between target and observer is inevitably lost. In this paper, we show that such a precondition is not necessary: without losing any information of distance, one can still obtain an explicit result of a scattering rigorously. In other words, we give an rigorous explicit scattering result which contains the information of distance between target and observer. We show that at a finite distance, a modification factor --- the Bessel polynomial --- appears in the scattering amplitude, and, consequently, the cross section depends on the distance, the outgoing wave-front surface is no longer a sphere, and, besides the phase shift, there is an additional phase (the argument of the Bessel polynomial) appears in the scattering wave function.
