Bridge influence lines can reflect the performance status of bridge structures and are an important tool to evaluate high-speed railway bridges. Because a high-speed train can cause large dynamic response on a bridge, it is difficult to identify the static influence line of the bridge. To extract the static bridge influence lines for bridge evaluation, this paper proposes a low-pass filter design method for static influence line identification. By maximizing the difference in bridge static and dynamic energy, the relationship between the frequency domain characteristics of the bridge dynamic response and the filter parameters is established. Based on this relationship, reasonable values of the low-pass filter parameters can be determined. After filtering the dynamic response, the quasi-static response can be effectively obtained, and the bridge static influence line can be identified through the least square regularization method. Finally, a numerical example of the vehicle–bridge interaction model is used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results show that the low-pass filter designed through the proposed principle can accurately remove the dynamic effects, and its stability and robustness are good. With the progress of society and the diversification of transportation modes, people are faced with more and more complicated travel choices, and thus, multi-criteria route choosing optimization problems have drawn increased attention in recent years. A number of multi-criteria traffic network equilibrium problems have been proposed, but most of them do not involve data uncertainty nor computational methods. This paper focuses on the methods for solving robust multi-criteria traffic network equilibrium problems with path capacity constraints. The concepts of the robust vector equilibrium and the robust vector equilibrium with respect to the worst case are introduced, respectively. For the robust vector equilibrium, an equivalent min–max optimization problem is constructed. A direct search algorithm, in which the step size without derivatives and redundant parameters, is proposed for solving this min–max problem. In addition, we construct a smoothing optimization problem based on a variant version of ReLU activation function to compute the robust weak vector equilibrium flows with respect to the worst case and then find robust vector equilibrium flows with respect to the worst case by using the heaviside step function. Finally, extensive numerical examples are given to illustrate the excellence of our algorithms compared with existing algorithms. It is shown that the proposed min–max algorithm may take less time to find the robust vector equilibrium flows and the smoothing method can more effectively generate a subset of the robust vector equilibrium with respect to the worst case. A direct joining of sapphire and Fe–36Ni alloy was successfully realized via femtosecond laser micro-welding for the first time. A sound joint without any voids or microcracks was obtained with a narrow interface width less than 1 μm. There was no obvious element diffusion or metallurgical reactions at the interface. Sapphire and Fe–36Ni alloy were found chemically bonded and mechanically interlocked evidenced by jagged feature at the interface due to "cold" machining of femtosecond laser ablation. The highly localized femtosecond laser irradiation and smaller heat-affected zone contributed to the shear strength of the joint as high as 108.35 MPa. A higher laser scanning speed corresponded with less jagged feature and thermal stress due to the reduced thermal deposition at the interface. Proper micro-welding parameters were obtained for sapphire/Fe–36Ni alloy, and was verified in the direct joining of sapphire/steel and sapphire/silicon. It appears the femtosecond laser micro-welding technique is promising for direct joining of materials with large physical property disparities, and beneficial for manufacturing of optomechanical components at high precision, efficiency and performance. Porous silicate cement membranes (PSCMs) fabricated by the freeze casting method show great potential to be utilized in seawater pretreatment, fermentation broth separation, and industrial wastewater treatment due to its merit of high-temperature resistance, low-cost, and hierarchically ordered porous structures, while the freeze casting method is complex and time-consuming. In this work, a combination of freeze casting and heat-dry curing was initially applied to generate PSCMs. The preparation periods of PSCMs could be shortened by simplifying preparation processes and reducing curing time. The resulting membranes presented double-layer structures, containing a nucleation zone (N-zone) with dense structures and a stability zone (S-zone) with lamellar pore structures. The X-ray diffraction pattern of membranes displayed the mixed hexagonal and rhombohedral structures. This novel method could save more than half of energy consumption compared with the traditional preparation technology of silicate cement samples. The membranes with a mesopore size of 3.794 nm showed high permeation performance with pure water flux reaching 207.23 L m−2 h−1 under 0.15 MPa and room temperature. The separation efficiency of oil-water was 78.05% under operating pressure of 0.05 MPa. Molecular dynamics simulation was applied to narrate the microscopic process of transformation during heat-dry curing, and obtained a good similarity of consequences between the computational method simulation and experimental operation. Aim: To evaluate the effect of secondary cytoreductive surgery (SeCRS) plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer patients. Methods: This retrospective study analyzed a prospective database. We collected information of 389 patients who were diagnosed with recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer. All patients underwent SeCRS with or without HIPEC. Overall survival and progression‐free survival (PFS) were used to evaluate the treatment effectiveness. Results: Of the 389 patients collected, 123 underwent primary or interval cytoreductive surgery at initial treatment and SeCRS at recurrence (Group A), 130 underwent primary or interval cytoreductive surgery at initial and SeCRS plus HIPEC at recurrence (Group B), and 136 underwent primary or interval cytoreductive surgery plus HIPEC at initial and SeCRS plus HIPEC at recurrence (Group C). The median overall survival for Groups A, B, and C were 49.1 months (95% confidence interval [CI]: 47.6–50.5), 56.0 months (95% CI: 54.2–57.7), and 64.4 months (95% CI: 63.1–65.6), respectively. The median PFS for Groups A, B, and C were 13.1 months (95% CI: 12.6–13.5), 15.0 months (95% CI: 14.2–15.7), and 16.8 months (95% CI: 16.1–17.4), respectively. There were no significant difference in incidence and grade of adverse events among groups. Conclusions: This study suggested that SeCRS plus HIPEC followed by chemotherapy resulted in longer overall survival and PFS than only SeCRS followed by chemotherapy in patients with recurrent ovarian cancer, especially in patients who were treated with repeat HIPEC. Background: Lignocellulose-derived aldehyde inhibitors seriously blocked the biorefinery of biofuels and biochemicals. To date, the economic production of lignocellulose-based products heavily relied on high productivities of fermenting strains. However, it was expensive and time-consuming for the achievable rational modification to strengthen stress tolerance robustness of aldehyde inhibitors. Here, it aimed to improve aldehyde inhibitors tolerance and cellulosic bioethanol fermentability for the chassis Zymomonas mobilis ZM4 pretreated using energy-efficient and eco-friendly cold plasma. Results: It was found that bioethanol fermentability was weaker in CSH (corn stover hydrolysates) than that in synthetic medium for Z. mobilis, and thus was attributed to the inhibition of the lignocellulose-derived aldehyde inhibitors in CSH. Convincingly, it further confirmed that the mixed aldehydes severely decreased bioethanol accumulation through additional aldehydes supplementary assays in synthetic medium. After assayed under different processing time (10–30 s), discharge power (80–160 W), and working pressure (120–180 Pa) using cold atmosphere plasma (CAP), it achieved the increased bioethanol fermentability for Z. mobilis after pretreated at the optimized parameters (20 s, 140 W and 165 Pa). It showed that cold plasma brought about three mutation sites including ZMO0694 (E220V), ZMO0843 (L471L) and ZMO0843 (P505H) via Genome resequencing-based SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms). A serial of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were further identified as the potential contributors for stress tolerance via RNA-Seq sequencing, including ZMO0253 and ZMO_RS09265 (type I secretion outer membrane protein), ZMO1941 (Type IV secretory pathway protease TraF-like protein), ZMOr003 and ZMOr006 (16S ribosomal RNA), ZMO0375 and ZMO0374 (levansucrase) and ZMO1705 (thioredoxins). It enriched cellular process, followed by metabolic process and single-organism process for biological process. For KEGG analysis, the mutant was also referred to starch and sucrose metabolism, galactose metabolism and two-component system. Finally, but interestingly, it simultaneously achieved the enhanced stress tolerance capacity of aldehyde inhibitors and bioethanol fermentability in CSH for the mutant Z. mobilis. Conclusions: Of several candidate genetic changes, the mutant Z. mobilis treated with cold plasma was conferred upon the facilitated aldehyde inhibitors tolerance and bioethanol production. Resonance mechanisms have been found to be essential for the generation of high-density rf plasmas at low pressures, in which electrons can be continuously accelerated through multiple interactions with the oscillating rf sheaths. In this work, we report the scale-invariant resonance mechanisms, such as bounce resonance heating and plasma series resonance, in low-pressure capacitive rf plasmas in the presence of an external magnetic field. The generation conditions for the resonance mechanisms are determined via fully kinetic simulations. It is found that the resonance dynamical properties of single-frequency plasmas (e.g., a double-peak electron density vs magnetic field curve) can be exactly replicated at different scales when three combined control parameters, i.e., the reduced gap distance pd (pressure × distance), reduced driving frequency f/p (frequency divided by pressure), and reduced magnetic field B/p (magnetic field divided by pressure), are kept constant. The similarity relations for the electron density and electron power absorption in magnetized rf plasmas are numerically confirmed. Furthermore, the similarity and scale-invariant resonance characteristics are elucidated through the scaling of the Boltzmann equation with collisional terms for weakly ionized rf plasmas with a magnetic field, which is proven to be theoretically exact. Both direct and indirect drive concepts of inertial confinement fusion rely on targets with cryogenic thermonuclear fuel shells for ignition. Experiments on the Shenguang-III prototype laser facility using laser-driven gas-filled hohlraums show distinct differences between cryogenic (20 K) and warm hohlraums. Although the measured x-ray flux in the photon range from 1.6 to 4.4 keV (Au M-band) is identical between cryogenic and warm hohlraums, the cryogenic hohlraum has a much slower rate of rise and is 20% lower in peak intensity of x-ray flux in the photon range from 0.1 to 4 keV. The reasons for this drive deficit between cryogenic and warm hohlraums are investigated using a similar series of hohlraum experiments. The experiments employ three types of hohlraums to distinguish the effect of a shroud window membrane and condensates. Warm hohlraums with a shroud window membrane replicate the slower rate of rise of radiation flux of cryogenic targets. When the shroud window is present, the measured x-ray flux in the hohlraum shows a drive deficit that decreases with time. However, the measured deficit increases as the viewing angle increases. All of these results indicate that the portion of the shroud not illuminated by the lasers absorbs the outgoing x-ray flux from the hohlraum. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigated the compensating mediating mechanism of resilience in the relationship between loneliness and life satisfaction in Thai and Chinese college students during a risk period of coronavirus disease 2019 transmission. A total of 262 Thai and 247 Chinese college students were enrolled in the study between December 2020 and January 2021. A measurement model was constructed with the items of loneliness, resilience, and life satisfaction by using structural equation models. Subsequently, structural mediating models were constructed according to the valid items and a multigroup comparison was performed. The relationship between loneliness and life satisfaction differed significantly between Thai and Chinese college students as a result of the mediating effect of resilience. Resilience in Thai college students partly compensated for the negative influence of loneliness on life satisfaction, and resilience in Chinese college students compensated completely for the negative influence of loneliness on life satisfaction. A Ce atom reaction with propene is carried out in a pulsed laser vaporization molecule beam source. Several Ce–hydrocarbon species formed by the C—H and C—C bond activation of propene are observed by time-of-flight mass spectrometry, and Ce(C3Hn) (n = 4 and 6) are characterized by mass-analyzed threshold ionization (MATI) spectroscopy and density functional theory, multiconfiguration, and relativistic quantum chemical calculations. The MATI spectrum of each species consists of two vibronic band systems, each with several vibronic bands. Ce(C3H6) is identified as an inserted species with Ce inserting into an allylic C—H bond of propene and Ce(C3H4) as a metallocycle through 1,2-vinylic dehydrogenation. Both species have a Cs structure with the Ce 4f16s1 ground valence electron configuration in the neutral molecule and the Ce 4f1 configuration in the singly charged ion. The two vibronic band systems observed for each species are attributed to the ionization of two pairs of the lowest spin–orbit coupled states with each pair being nearly degenerate. Image recognition on deep neural network is vulnerable to adversarial sample attacks. The adversarial attack accuracy is low when only limited queries on the target are allowed with the current black box environment. This paper proposes a target adversarial attack algorithm discrete cosine transform‐mean target feature attack (DTFA) based on the target features and a limited‐area sampling method. The algorithm first examines the original image and a target image to generate an initial adversarial example. Then the disturbance is sampled from the low‐frequency region intercepted by Gaussian noise after discrete cosine transform. The authors determine the size of the disturbance according to the difference between the adversarial example and the original image with consideration of the number of iterations and the position of the target feature region. The disturbance is applied on the initial adversarial example to generate the new adversarial example with the difference from the original image reduced. To evaluate the proposed algorithm, based on the common image classification model InceptionV3, and with identical queries accessing the same target model, the authors conduct experiments to compare the attack effectiveness of DTFA and the benchmark algorithms on the same image and target datasets. Experimental results show that the generated adversarial examples by the proposed algorithm are superior to 94% of those by the similar attack algorithms with less than 10,000 access queries on the target model. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the most common intestinal malignancy, and nearly 70% of patients with this cancer develop metastatic disease. In the present study, we synthesized a novel compound, termed N-(3-(5,7-dimethylbenzo [d]oxazol-2-yl)phenyl)-5-nitrofuran-2-carboxamide (compound 275#), and found that it exhibits antiproliferative capability in suppressing the proliferation and growth of CRC cell lines. Furthermore, compound 275# triggered caspase 3-mediated intrinsic apoptosis of mitochondria and autophagy initiation. An investigation of the molecular mechanisms demonstrated that compound 275# induced intrinsic apoptosis, and autophagy initiation was largely mediated by increasing the levels of the intracellular accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in CRC cells. Taken together, these data suggest that ROS accumulation after treatment with compound 275# leads to mitochondria-mediated apoptosis and autophagy activation, highlighting the potential of compound 275# as a novel therapeutic agent for the treatment of CRC. A novel broadband circularly polarized square-slot antenna with parasitic elements is presented in this article. The proposed antenna with dimensions of 77.6 × 77.6 × 1.6 mm3 is composed of a L-shaped strip, a pair of rectangular slots, a L-shaped branch, and an inverted L-shaped feeding line. First, a pair of rectangular slots are used to excite an impedance resonance point that appears near 4.8 GHz and improve the axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW). Second, a L-shaped strip etched into the square-slot ground plane is used to enhance the ARBW. Third, a L-shaped branch is inserted into the inverted L-shaped feeding line to improve the impedance matching at high frequencies. At a result, the multiple circularly polarized (CP) resonant points could be excited by using these slot and strips as perturbation elements to alter the surface current distribution of the antenna. To demonstrate the design rationality, a designed antenna model is simulated, manufactured, and measured. The tested results show the proposed antenna has a wider −10-dB impedance bandwidth from 2.6 to 6.6 GHz (86.9%) and a broad 3-dB ARBW from 2.35 to 5.80 GHz (84.7%). In the present inventory management, the manager must determine an appropriate order quantity, while ensuring that the product has high potential profitability. However, the following issues may be encountered when estimating product profitability: (i) a newly launched product may belong to high uncertainty demand; (ii) the market demand is obtained from multiple samples; (iii) the sampling error probably leads to overestimating profitability. To explore the above issues, our study developed an estimation method based on multiple samples for assessing the conservative profitability of a newsboy-type product with exponentially distributed demand. Note that profitability is defined as the maximum probability of achieving a target profit. First, we adopted an achievable capacity index (ACI) with a streamlined form to measure the extent of profitability. The unbiased and efficient estimator of ACI and its statistical properties were also derived. Then, the lower confidence bound of ACI (LCBA) was derived to express the conservative profitability of the newsboy-type product. The LCBA values for various number of groups, sample sizes, confidence levels, and estimates were tabulated. These generic tables can guide the direction of decision-making in some policies. For example, by looking up these tables, the retailers can decide which items are worth selling, and the manufacturers can decide to accept or reject the contract renewal of production orders. Considering the impact of high cost for sampling, the minimum data size requirement meeting an acceptable criterion is also presented. Finally, a real-world example regarding the production order of vacuum molding products was performed to illustrate the practicality of our method. Excitatory amino acid transporter 1 (EAAT1) is a glutamate transporter belonging to the SLC1 family of solute carriers. It plays a key role in the regulation of the extracellular glutamate concentration in the mammalian brain. The structure of EAAT1 was determined in complex with UCPH-101, apotent, non-competitive inhibitor of EAAT1. Alanine serine cysteine transporter 2 (ASCT2) is a neutral amino acid transporter, which regulates pools of amino acids such as glutamine between intracellular and extracellular compartments. ASCT2 also belongs to the SLC1 family and shares 58% sequence similarity with EAAT1. However, allosteric modulation of ASCT2 via non-competitive inhibitors is unknown. Here, we explore the UCPH-101 inhibitory mechanisms of EAAT1 and ASCT2 by using rapid kinetic experiments. Our results show that UCPH-101 slows substrate translocation rather than substrate or Na+ binding, confirming a non-competitive inhibitory mechanism, but only partially inhibits wild-type ASCT2. Guided by computational modeling using ligand docking and molecular dynamics simulations, we selected two residues involved in UCPH-101/EAAT1 interaction, which were mutated in ASCT2 (F136Y, I237M, F136Y/I237M) in the corresponding positions. We show that in the F136Y/I237M double-mutant transporter, 100% of the inhibitory effect of UCPH-101 could be restored, and the apparent affinity was increased (Ki = 4.3 μM), much closer to the EAAT1 value of 0.6 μM. Finally, we identify a novel non-competitive ASCT2 inhibitor, through virtual screening and experimental testing against the allosteric site, further supporting its localization. Together, these data indicate that the mechanism of allosteric modulation is conserved between EAAT1 and ASCT2. Due to the difference in binding site residues between ASCT2 and EAAT1, these results raise the possibility that more potent, and potentially selective ASCT2 allosteric inhibitors can be designed. Background: Glioblastoma is the most common and most aggressive type of primary brain tumor.Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of intranasal granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) administration combined with chemoradiotherapy in patients with glioblastoma who underwent surgery.Methods: Ninety-two patients were randomly divided into two groups: a control group (n= 46), who received radiotherapy with adjuvant local delivery of nimustine hydrochloride (ACNU) and systemic administration of temozolomide, and an intervention group (n= 46), who received intranasal GM-CSF prior to each cycle of adjuvant chemotherapy in addition to the treatment of the control group. Karnofsky performance status (KPS) scores, progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and adverse effects were calculated and compared between the two groups.Results: Compared with the control group, the intervention group had longer PFS (7.8 vs. 6.9 months, P= 0.016) and OS (19.2 vs. 17.1 months, P= 0.045, without adjustment for interim analyses). The KPS scores were also higher in the intervention group than in the control group after 6 months (84.35 ± 8.86 vs. 80.65 ± 7.72; t= 4.552, P= 0.036). Furthermore, the patients in the intervention group had lower incidence of neutropenia and thrombocytopenia (8.7% vs. 29.5%, P= 0.012; 8.7% vs. 18.2%, P= 0.186). Other adverse events were similar in both groups, and most adverse events were grade I/II and resolved spontaneously.Conclusion: Intranasal GM-CSF enhances the efficacy of the local ACNU administration combined with oral temozolomide chemotherapy. The survival and performance status were significantly improved in patients with glioblastoma after surgery. We elucidate grapevine evolution and domestication histories with 3525 cultivated and wild accessions worldwide. In the Pleistocene, harsh climate drove the separation of wild grape ecotypes caused by continuous habitat fragmentation. Then, domestication occurred concurrently about 11,000 years ago in Western Asia and the Caucasus to yield table and wine grapevines. The Western Asia domesticates dispersed into Europe with early farmers, introgressed with ancient wild western ecotypes, and subsequently diversified along human migration trails into muscat and unique western wine grape ancestries by the late Neolithic. Analyses of domestication traits also reveal new insights into selection for berry palatability, hermaphroditism, muscat flavor, and berry skin color. Postmenopausal women experience several symptoms, including inflammation and a sharp rise in oxidative stress caused by estrogen deprivation. Although estrogen replacement therapy (ERT) is generally regarded as an effective treatment for menopause, it has been used less frequently due to some adverse effects and high costs. Therefore, there is an immediate need to develop an effective herbal-based treatment that is affordable for low-income populations. Acordingly, this study explored the estrogen-like properties of methanol extracts from Cynanchum wilfordii (CW) and Poligonum multiflorum (PM), two important medicinal plants in Republic of Korea, Japan, and China. Due to the similar names and morphologies of these two radixes, they are frequently confused in the marketplace. Our previous colleagues discriminated between these two plants. In this study, we investigated the estrogenic activity of PM and CW using several in vitro assays with their possible mechanism of action. First, their phytochemical contents, such as gallic acid, 2,3,5,4′-tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O-glucoside (TSG) and emodin, were quantified using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Secondly, estrogen-like activity was assessed utilizing the well-known E-screen test and gene expression analysis in estrogen receptor (ER)-positive MCF7 cells. ROS inhibition and anti-inflammatory effects were analyzed using HaCaT and Raw 264.7 cells, respectively. Our findings demonstrate that PM extracts significantly increased the expression of the estrogen-dependent genes (ERα, ERβ, pS2) and boosted MCF7 cell proliferation in comparison to CW extracts. Additionally, PM extract demonstrated a significant reduction in reactive oxygen species (ROS) production as well as an enhanced antioxidant profile compared to the CW extract. Further, the PM extract treatment significantly reduced the generation of nitric oxide (NO) in RAW 264.7 cells, a murine macrophage cell line, demonstrating the anti-inflammatory properties of the extract. The transient flow characteristics in inclined tunnel fire considerably influence occupant evacuation. We conducted brine water experiments to investigate transient smoke movement characteristics and their evolution into multiple final flow states in an inclined tunnel fire. The flow pattern exhibited a downward trend was the expected flow pattern. The experiment results indicated that before longitudinal mechanical force was activated in the inclined tunnel, the thickness of the current was nearly uniform. When longitudinal mechanical force was activated, the propagation velocity of the upstream longitudinal current declined, and then the back-layering reached its maximum length. Ascorbic acid (AsA) plays an important role in scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reducing photoinhibition in plants, especially under stress. The function of SlGGP which encodes the key enzyme GDP-L-galactose phosphorylase in AsA synthetic pathway is relatively clear. However, there is another gene SlGGP-LIKE that encodes this enzyme in tomato, and there are few studies on it, especially under salt stress. In this study, we explored the function of this gene in tomato salt stress response using transgenic lines overexpressing SlGGP-LIKE (OE). Under normal conditions, overexpressing SlGGP-LIKE can increase the content of reduced AsA and the ratio of AsA/ DHA (dehydroascorbic acid), as well as the level of xanthophyll cycle. Under salt stress, compared with the wild-type plants (WT), the OE lines can maintain higher levels of reduced AsA. In addition, OE lines also have higher levels of reduced GSH (glutathione) and total GSH, higher ratios of AsA/DHA and GSH/oxidative GSH (GSSR), and higher level of xanthophyll cycle. Therefore, the OE lines are more tolerant to salt stress, with higher photosynthetic activity, higher antioxidative enzyme activities, higher content of D1 protein, lower production rate of ROS, and lighter membrane damage. In this study, 2-benzyl-10a-(1H-pyrrol-2-yl)-2,3-dihydropyrazino[1,2-a]indole-1,4,10(10aH)-trione (DHPITO), a previously identified inhibitor against hepatocellular carcinoma cells, is shown to exert its cytotoxic effects by suppressing the proliferation and growth of CRC cells. An investigation of its molecular mechanism confirmed that the cytotoxic activity of DHPITO is mediated through the targeting of microtubules with the promotion of subsequent microtubule polymerisation. With its microtubule-stabilising ability, DHPITO also consistently arrested the cell cycle of the CRC cells at the G2/M phase by promoting the phosphorylation of histone 3 and the accumulation of EB1 at the cell equator, reduced the levels of CRC cell migration and invasion, and induced cellular apoptosis. Furthermore, the compound could suppress both tumour size and tumour weight in a CRC xenograft model without any obvious side effects. Taken together, the findings of the present study reveal the antiproliferative and antitumour mechanisms through which DHPITO exerts its activity, indicating its potential as a putative chemotherapeutic agent and lead compound with a novel structure. A simple multifunctional Schiff base fluorescence probe (E)-N′-(2,4-dihydroxybenzylidene)-2-hydroxybenzohydrazide (NDH) was designed and synthesized by the reaction of 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde and salicylhydrazide. NDH acts as a "off–on" logic gate fluorescence probe for Al3+, Zn2+ and La3+ ions, providing different colors and detection limits of 1.22 μM, 2.47 μM and 2.94 μM, respectively. Moreover, the binding stoichiometry of NDH to Zn2+ was 2:1, but to other metal ions was 1:1, and was confirmed by Job' plot, 1H NMR and ESI–MS. Furthermore, the probe NDH was applied to detect Al3+, Zn2+ and La3+ ions in real water samples and Hela cells. We leverage the knowledge network representation of the Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) ontology to infer conceptual distances between roughly 30,000 distinct MeSH keywords — each being prescribed to particular knowledge domains — in order to quantify the origins of cross-domain biomedical convergence. Analysis of MeSH co-occurrence networks based upon 21.6 million research articles indexed by PubMed identifies three robust knowledge clusters: micro-level biological entities and structures; meso-level representations of systems, and diseases and diagnostics; and emergent macro-level biological and social phenomena. Analysis of cross-cluster dynamics shows how these domains integrated from the 1990s onward via technological and informatic capabilities — captured by MeSH belonging to the "Technology, Industry, and Agriculture" (J) and "Information Science" (L) branches — representing highly controllable, scalable and permutable research processes and invaluable imaging techniques for illuminating fundamental yet transformative structure–function–behavior questions. Our results indicate that 8.2% of biomedical research from 2000 to 2018 include MeSH terms from both the J and L MeSH branches, representing a 291% increase from 1980s levels. Article-level MeSH analysis further identifies the increasing prominence of cross-domain integration, and confirms a positive relationship between team size and topical diversity. Journal-level analysis reveals variable trends in topical diversity, suggesting that demand and appreciation for convergence science vary by scholarly community. Altogether, we develop a knowledge network framework that identifies the critical role of techno-informatic inputs as convergence bridges — or catalyzers of integration across distinct knowledge domains — as highlighted by the 1990s genomics revolution, and onward in contemporary brain, behavior and health science initiatives. Using chitosan (CTS) and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC Na) as raw biobased materials, polyelectrolyte complex (PEC), which is the product of strong electrostatic interaction between two bio-based polyelectrolytes with opposite charges, was attempted to prepare. To enlarge the reactive contact area between CTS and CMC Na, the crosslinked vacuolar structure of PEC was prepared without addition of cross-linked agent. The preparation conditions had a significant impact on the yield of PEC and the bibulous rate of PEC. When pH, mass ratio of CMC-Na-to-CTS, stirring speed and reaction system temperature were 5, 1:2 [(1 wt% CMC Na, 2 wt% CTS), CMC-Na:CTS = 1:1 (v /v)], 800 rpm, 2 min and 25 °C, the yield of PEC reached 71.2 %. The prepared PEC was characterized by XRD and FT-IR. Afterwards, the antibacterial performance of PEC was examined. The prepared PEC had certain bacteriostatic effect on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The bacteriostasis ratios of PEC against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were 18.7 % and 31.3 %, respectively. By controlling the combination parameters of the preparation system, an effective strategy was successfully developed for preparation of biobased PEC with bacteriostatic and crosslinked vacuolar structure through simple physical blending without the application of additional crosslinker. The rapid growth of the elderly population has led to an increase in the number of people with dementia. As the disease progresses, dementia patients will suffer from the abnormal phenomenon of disorientation with memory loss which will not only cause a decline in the patient's ability to take care of themselves, but also affect their quality of life and safety. On the other hand, when this happens, the caregiver is prone to mental exhaustion, excessive stress, and regrettable events. To avoid such a serious social problem and to reduce the burden on the health care system, a good coordination mechanism needs to be established quickly and effectively. Based on Information Communication Technology, this study applies multi-hop transmission path planning and clustering technology to construct a service mechanism to assist volunteers in finding patient with dementia (PWD). It simulates the loss situation and conducts stress testing to optimize the search mechanism to achieve the goals of immediacy, accuracy, and diversity, and to ensure the effectiveness of search mechanism and enhance the quality of dementia care. Finally, in a simulated test environment, a range of 1000 × 1000 meters was established, and the coordinates of volunteers, patients with dementia, and gateways were randomly generated for verification. The results verify that this method can reduce the average path of volunteers and reduce the waste of unnecessary volunteers compared with the traditional cooperative search method. The heat transfer characteristic of supercritical water is one of the crucial issues in SuperCritical Water-Cooled Reactors (SCWRs). The efficiency and safety of the SCWR system are largely dependent on the local heat transfer performance. This paper establishes the numerical model for supercritical water in a long vertical circular loop (inside diameter = 10 mm) and analyzes the flow and heat transfer mechanism during the transition process from subcritical to supercritical states under various heat fluxes (uniform and nonuniform). The results reveal that the difference in thermophysical properties between the boundary layer and the core region is the main reason for the heat transfer behavior, especially during the transition from subcritical to supercritical and liquidlike to gaslike. The flow structure on the buffer layer is a dominating factor for heat transfer deterioration. The cases under variable nonuniform heat fluxes have a higher heat transfer coefficient compared with uniform heat fluxes. But, this will cause large changes of the parameter locally. Herein, ammonium benzenesulfonate (NH 4 BS) is proposed as a soluble ammonium salt to dissolve Li 2 S in the ether electrolyte, according to the inductive effect of NH 4 + cation and O atom on Li-S bond. This is beneficial to alleviate the interface problem of electrodes and irreversible loss of active materials. Noticeably, soluble Li 2 S regulates its deposition behavior from 2D to 3D, which is conducive to the more effective use of conductive surface. Moreover, the addition of NH 4 BS can increase the dissociation degree of long-chain polysulfides, so that the diffusion rate and reaction kinetics of active substances are improved. Profiting from these functions, the Li-S cells with NH 4 BS act out excellent cyclic stability in the long cycle of 0.5 C and 2 C. Under the extreme conditions of high sulfur loading and low electrolyte-sulfur ratio, the cells with NH 4 BS can cycle stably for 196 cycles, which significantly prolongs the battery life. Argpyrimidine (APMD), a methylglyoxal‐arginine‐derived product, is one of the main products of diabetes mellitus. We aimed to systematically investigate the role of APMD in regulating autophagy activity, with a specific focus on the finding of APDM binding molecule, matching amino acid residues, autophagy flux and proteins, cell cycle arrest, cell skeleton and migration, PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathways, inflammatory signals, alveolar bone destruction, and inhibition verification. In this study, binding to 59/94/121 amino acid residues of advanced glycosylation end product receptor (RAGE), APMD suppressed PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway to attenuate cell survival of periodontal ligament cells (PDLCs). Simultaneously, autophagy proteins ATG5, Beclin1, and LC3‐II/I expression ratio were upregulated while P62/SQSTM was downregulated. Cell cycle arrested at G0/G1 with enhancing Cyclin D1/CDK4 and decreasing Cyclin A/CDK2 expression. Inhibition of autophagy abrogated APMD‐induced cell cycle arrest. Furthermore, the inflammation regulation network of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)‐2, MMP‐9, MAPKs and NF‐κB pathways were activated by APMD. Rat periodontal models confirmed that APMD induced alveolar bone resorption, increased inflammatory infiltrates, and degraded collagen fibers through RAGE and PI3K. APMD‐induced autophagy, G0/G1 arrest, pro‐inflammatory signals activating and periodontal destruction were reversed by RAGE knockdown while aggravated by PI3K inhibitor. The successive cancellation flip (SC Flip) decoding algorithm was recently suggested for decoding polar codes, which could improve the performance of the frame error rate (FER). The performance of the SC Flip (SCF) decoding algorithm is strong, and its computational complexity tends to be the same as that of the SC decoder at medium to high signal‐to‐noise ratios (SNRs). However, the decoding latency of the SCF decoding algorithm is large. In this paper, a new method for detecting whether or not the flipped bit is correct is proposed. The proposed method makes a decision according to the changing log likelihood ratio (LLR) value caused by the flipped bit to ensure that the decoding process can be terminated in advance and the decoding latency is reduced. The simulation results show that the proposed Latency‐Reduced SCF decoding algorithm can decrease computational complexity and decoding latency, while also achieving similar decoding performance compared to its counterpart. Summary: Modal frequencies are widely used for vibration‐based structural health monitoring (SHM) and for capturing the dynamics of a monitored structure to reveal possible failures. However, changing environmental and operational conditions (i.e., temperature, humidity, wind load, and traffic load) may submerge the modal variability induced by structural damage, thereby falsely identifying damage of interest. This paper presents a comprehensive summary review of SHM for the prediction of modal frequency and the elimination of environment‐induced masking effects based on the data normalization method. The influence mechanisms of external variations on modal frequencies extensively reported in the literature are first described. Next, the research progress in predicting and eliminating the operational modal variability is reviewed emphatically; this progress can be primarily divided into an input–output method that focuses on the establishment of the relationship model between structural frequency and environmental conditions and an output‐only method that separates the embedded environmental variable‐induced changes depending on whether the environmental measurements are measured. Finally, the conclusions and future studies are summarized and discussed. As an overview, the major contribution of this paper is to provide objective technical references for engineers and owners and to further evaluate structural safety conditions more effectively and in a timely manner. School engagement has assumed an important place in current developmental psychology and educational research due to its potential to address students' low achievement, high dropout rates, and misbehavior. Although much has been written about the antecedents and outcomes of student engagement, literature on how students' level of engagement differs in response to different teaching styles was missing on a large scale. Understanding the patterns and risks linked with student engagement provides opportunities for targeted intervention. This study explored primary school students' engagement and burnout profiles and how different profiles interacted with perceived classroom teaching styles (i.e., autonomy-supportive & autonomy suppressive). Latent profile analysis resulted in four student engagement subgroups: moderately engaged, engaged, moderately burned out, and burned out. Students clustered into engagement groups were likely to report higher autonomy support from teachers. In contrast, burned-out groups were more likely to rate teachers' teaching styles as suppressive (i.e., autonomy suppressive). Collectively, the study indicated that autonomy-supportive teaching behaviors are pivotal in understanding student engagement and school burnout. Thus, tailored teacher-focused intervention programs that enhance teachers' awareness of autonomy-supportive teaching is important. Despite existing debates on the maritime cluster's institutional composition, geographical boundary, or evolutionary patterns, few studies have empirically scrutinized the relatedness of industrial sectors inside a maritime cluster. This study aims to develop an industry-relatedness model to quantitatively measure the paired industry relatedness among three maritime sectors: port-related, shipping-related, and maritime business services. Maritime sectors can be labour-intensive or capital-intensive, and thereby we constructed a compound ratio of capital per capita to address the heterogeneity issue in evaluating the industry relatedness. Instead of focusing on a specific maritime cluster, we applied the model to three representative maritime clusters, namely Western Europe, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and the Yangtze River Delta (YRD), to enhance the generalizability of our findings and implications. Findings suggest that the maritime cluster in Western Europe is characterized by more inter-sector connections. In Western Europe, Ship owning and operating , and Ship management and agency are found to operate with the highest relatedness; GBA has a polarized maritime industry structure with Hong Kong specializing in Ship finance and Shipbroking ; cities in YRD operate with a speciality in Shipbuilding and repairing. This study found that differences in industry relatedness are mainly attributable to the focal region's evolutionary history and governance structure. Similarity laws (SLs) are useful for correlation and prediction of plasma parameters at different scales, which have been verified for geometrically symmetric capacitive radio-frequency (rf) discharges in nonlocal kinetic regimes. In this work, we demonstrate the applicability of SLs to dual-frequency rf discharges and confirm that similarity relations still hold considering the electrical asymmetry effect (EAE). By simultaneously tuning the control parameters (the gas pressure p, discharge gap d, and driving frequency f), we examine the similarity relations in rf plasmas via fully kinetic particle-in-cell simulations with the external circuits coupled and solved self-consistently. The validity of the SL scalings in dual-frequency rf plasmas with the EAE is confirmed for parameters such as the electron/ion density, ion flux, dc self-bias, ion energy distribution function, and power absorption. Although adjusted by the EAE, the dc self-bias and ion energy distribution functions are identified as similarity invariants under similar discharge conditions. Furthermore, the plasma series resonance phenomenon, filamentation of power depositions of electrons and ions in bulk plasma, and electric field reversal are observed in dual-frequency discharges with the EAE, which can also be exactly replicated under similar discharge conditions. The results further extend the application of SL scaling to dual-frequency rf plasmas, providing a more comprehensive understanding of the scaling characteristics in rf plasmas. Although lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are widely regarded as one of the most promising next-generation high energy density storage systems, their large-scale applications are seriously impeded by rapid capacity fading and poor Coulombic efficiency owing to the shuttling of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) and irreversible discharge product Li2S. Here, by means of first principles calculations, we studied defective black phosphorene (BP) as a host material to realize high-performance Li-S batteries, including Stone Wales [SW(55-77)], single, and double vacancy [SV(5-9) and DV(5-9-5)] defects. Our results demonstrate that while BP has moderate adsorption energies towards LiPSs, the presence of defects could enhance the adsorption strength between LiPSs and BP because of increased charge transfer. Particularly, defective BP could strike a good balance between adsorption energy and integrity of LiPSs, which is beneficial to prevent the shuttling of LiPSs. Moreover, during the lithiation process, defective BP not only has narrow bandgaps but also decreases the dissociation energy of Li2S, facilitating the catalytic oxidation of Li2S back to sulfur. The development of stimulus-responsive luminescent materials, especially those based on a single compound exhibiting multicolor and high-contrast (Δλem ≥ 100 nm) chromic properties, is a critical challenge. In this work, we synthesized and characterized a zinc(II) complex (1). As expected, 1 displays aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE) in THF/H2O mixtures, and remarkable multicolor switching under external stimuli in the solid state. Complex 1 shows reversible mechanochromic luminescence behavior with a large wavelength shift (Δλem = 100 nm) during the grinding–fuming cycles, due to the phase transformation between the crystalline and amorphous states. More impressively, 1 exhibits obvious acidochromic properties (Δλem = 130 nm) which originate from the adsorption of vapor and a gas–solid reaction on the crystal surface. Furthermore, 1 exhibits electrochemical oxidation behavior accompanied by quenching of yellow-green emission due to the overlap of an emission band and an absorption band. The above-mentioned color changes under ambient light can also be observed by the naked eye during the mechanical, acid–base vapor and electrical stimulation. Based on the high-contrast and multicolor switching, complex 1 was successfully developed into test papers and films in the field of rapid detection of mechanical stimuli and HCl/NH3 vapors. Summary: Supercritical heat transfer loops are widely used in large‐scale thermal equipment, which development is restricted by the thermal‐hydraulic characteristics, especially the safety and thermal efficiency under high‐heat fluxes. This study is focused on numerical simulation for a 4‐m test section of the loop and further analyzes the flow transitions and heat transfer mechanisms from subcritical to supercritical. The heat transfer characteristics of supercritical water in the vertical loop were simulated for conditions: P = 24 MPa, Tin = 320°C, 340°C, mass flux (G) = 1000 kg/m2s, 1500 kg/m2s, and heat fluxes varied from 100 to 1200 kW/m2. The heat transfer transitions are analyzed from the perspective of local parameters that affect the status of both core flow and boundary layers. The empirical correlation and the error backpropagation (BP) neural network prediction model are proposed and compared with experimental and numerical results. The results show that transitions of both boundary layer and core flow from subcritical to supercritical contribute to the heat transfer behaviors: normal heat transfer, heat transfer deterioration, and heat transfer enhancement. The zero‐velocity gradient (∂u/∂r = 0) on the M‐shaped velocity curve causes the turbulent shear stress near the wall to be close to zero, which leads to the suppression of the turbulence. At the same time, the thickness of the thermal boundary layer reaches the maximum, resulting in a large thermal resistance, which affects the heat transfer from the wall to the core area. We explore the influence of absorption, anisotropy and unstable layered turbulence on the channel capacity of horizontal seawater link. By developing the spectrum average coherence length of collimated beam wave in the absorptive seawater turbulence, we propose a model of the channel capacity of links with carrier Bessel-Gaussian vortex localized wave. Our model shows that the capacity of links increases with the increasing of the half-modulated pulse width of the input pulse, the rate of dissipation of kinetic energy per unit mass of fluid and the anisotropic factor of turbulence, but it decreases with the increasing of the Bessel cone angle and the dissipation rate of the mean-squared temperature. We also find that there is a maximum effective beam waist for a given receiving aperture, the channel capacity is more sensitive to salinity fluctuations than to temperature fluctuations in turbulence, and the influences of the inner scale and outer scale of turbulence on channel capacity of links in anisotropic turbulence and isotropic turbulence are different. Summary: As critical components that transmit internal forces laterally in multigirder bridges, joint degradation can destroy the cooperative working mechanism of a multigirder system and seriously reduce bridge bearing capacity. This research aims to reveal the joint damage effects on lateral internal force transmission and propose a joint damage detection and location method. A spring‐jointed plate model is established to analyze the effects of joint damage, based on which the relationship between the shear forces in the joints and the shear stiffness of the joints can be obtained. Furthermore, a joint damage index is deduced based on the lateral deflection influence lines, and a bridge load testing method is proposed to obtain such influence lines. By using multiple influence lines to jointly solve the damage index, the joint damage in the lateral bridge direction can be accurately detected and located. In addition, by carrying out the damage detection process at several cross sections of the bridge, the joint damage position in the longitudinal bridge direction can also be determined. Finally, a numerical model of an adjacent box girder bridge is illustrated as an example to verify the effectiveness of the damage detection. It can be concluded that the proposed method can effectively identify and locate single or multiple joint damage locations under noise interference, and the joint damage degree can be quantitatively evaluated. Purpose: Although social networking services (SNSs) have attracted billions of people to maintain and extend their social relationships online, more and more passive usage behaviors have been found during the daily SNS usage. The aim of this paper is to investigate how SNS users' continuance intention is affected by passive SNS use, subjective well-being, as well as perceived concern regarding privacy and impression management. Methods: A research model was developed according to the proposed hypotheses, and then partial least square (PLS) SEM was adopted to empirically assess the valid data collected from 389 WeChat users. Results: The findings show that passive SNS use cannot significantly undermine continuance intention, but it has a negative moderating effect on the relationship between subjective well-being and continuance intention. Besides, the results of empirical research also reveal the antecedents of passive SNS use and subjective well-being from the perspectives of privacy concern and impression management concern, and thereby present the mechanism underlying users' continuance intention. Conclusion: This study enriches the SNS literature by indicating the moderating role of passive SNS use in the process of SNS usage, which facilitates the understanding regarding how users' continuance intention can be influenced when they use SNSs passively. This study can help SNS providers to better understand the factors affecting users' continuance intention in the case of passive SNS use, and then formulating effective strategies for retaining users and avoiding passive usage behaviors. The alkylation of ketones or secondary alcohols using alcohols as alkylating agents via hydrogen borrowing strategy presents a powerful method for the synthesis of ɑ‐alkylated ketones. In this review, we summarize the progress catalyzed by Ir, Pd, Rh, Ru, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu catalysts for the α‐alkylation of ketones with alcohols and cross‐coupling of secondary alcohols with alcohols from 2017 to 2021. A wide range of ketones (aromatic and aliphatic ketones) and alcohols (benzylic and aliphatic primary alcohols, aromatic and aliphatic secondary alcohols, alkenyl alcohols, and diols) are well tolerated. Furthermore, we also discuss current challenges and propose perspectives on the coming development in this filed. The objective of the present review is to give an overview on recent advances for α‐alkylation of ketones with alcohols and β‐alkylation of secondary alcohols with alcohols. Background: The transmission and fatal risk of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS), an emerging infectious disease first discovered in China in 2009, still needed further quantification. This research aimed to analyze the SFTS clusters and assess the transmission and mortality risk for SFTS. Methods: Both epidemiological investigation and case reports regarding SFTS clusters in China during 2011–2021 were obtained from the Public Health Emergency Information Management System of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention Information System. The transmission risk was evaluated by using the secondary attack rate (SAR) and relative risk (RR). Mortality risk factors were analyzed using a logistic regression model. Results: There were 35 SFTS clusters during 2011–2021 involving 118 patients with a fatality rate of 22.0%. The number of clusters annually increased seasonally from April to September. The clusters mainly occurred in Anhui (16 clusters) and Shandong provinces (8 clusters). The SAR through contact with blood or bloody fluids was much higher than that through contact with non-bloody fluids (50.6% vs 3.0%; χ2 = 210.97, P < 0.05), with an RR of 16.61 [95% confidence interval (CI): 10.23–26.97]. There was a statistically significant difference in the SAR between exposure to the blood of a deceased person during burial preparation and exposure to the living patients' blood (66.7% vs 34.5%; χ2 = 6.40, P < 0.05), with an RR of 1.93 (95% CI: 1.11–3.37). The mortality risk factors were a long interval from onset to diagnosis [odds ratio (OR) = 1.385), 95% CI: 1.083–1.772, P = 0.009) and advanced age (OR: 1.095, 95% CI: 1.031–1.163, P = 0.01). Conclusions: The SFTS clusters showed a high mortality rate and resulted in a high SAR. Contact with a bleeding corpse was associated with a higher infection risk, compared with contacting the blood from living patients. It is important to promote early detection and appropriate case management of patients with SFTS, as well as improved handling of their corpses, to prevent further transmission and mortality. Similar to the canonical antiferroelectric (AFE) compound PbZrO3 in Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 solid‐solutions, the presence of double hysteresis loops and that of electric field–induced phase transitions are important characteristics of NaNbO3 AFE materials; yet the phase transition behavior in the latter system is typically irreversible with the related mechanisms not fully understood. Here, we explore the phase transition mechanism of ferroelectric and AFE phases in NaNbO3 based on measurements of single crystals with different directions in conjunction with density‐functional theory (DFT) calculations. The tilting and distortion behaviors of the [NbO6] octahedra are explained by DFT, and the ion displacement in the lattice is traced. The tilting and distortion behaviors of the [NbO6] octahedra with different orientations are compared. We confirm that the tilt and distortion of the [NbO6] octahedra along the [1 1 1] direction is the main reason to improve the stability of AFE phase. This conclusion is verified by the experimental characterizations of large‐size NaNbO3 single crystals successfully obtained in this study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For a single-component perfect gas, entropy perturbations are associated with the difference between the overall density fluctuation and that coming from the acoustic perturbation. Entropy perturbations can generate sound when accelerated/decelerated by a non-uniform flow and this is highly relevant to thermoacoustic instabilities for gas turbines and rocket engines, and to noise emission for aero-engines. Widely used theories to model this entropy-generated sound rely on quasi-1D assumptions for which questions of validity were raised recently from both numerical and experimental studies. In the present work, we build upon an acoustic analogy theory for this problem. This theory was initiated by Morfey (J. Sound Vib. 1973) and Ffowcs Williams and Howe (J. Fluid Mech. 1975) about 50 years ago and extended recently by Yang, Guzmán-Iñigo and Morgans (J. Fluid Mech. 2020) to study the effect of non-plane entropy waves at the inlet of a flow contraction on its sound generation. Aim: To study the role of sclerostin in periodontal ligament (PDL) as a homeostatic regulator in biophysical‐force‐induced tooth movement (BFTM). Materials and Methods: BFTM was performed in rats, followed by microarray, immunofluorescence, in situ hybridization, and real‐time polymerase chain reaction for the detection and identification of the molecules. The periodontal space was analysed via micro‐computed tomography. Effects on osteoclastogenesis and bone resorption were evaluated in the bone‐marrow‐derived cells in mice. In vitro human PDL cells were subjected to biophysical forces. Results: In the absence of BFTM, sclerostin was hardly detected in the periodontium except in the PDL and alveolar bone in the furcation region and apex of the molar roots. However, sclerostin was up‐regulated in the PDL in vivo by adaptable force, which induced typical transfiguration without changes in periodontal space as well as in vitro PDL cells under compression and tension. In contrast, the sclerostin level was unaffected by heavy force, which caused severe degeneration of the PDL and narrowed periodontal space. Sclerostin inhibited osteoclastogenesis and bone resorption, which corroborates the accelerated tooth movement by the heavy force. Conclusions: Sclerostin in PDL may be a key homeostatic molecule in the periodontium and a biological target for the therapeutic modulation of BFTM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cylindrical gear with variable hyperbolic circular arc tooth trace (VH-CATT) is a new type of gear. Sliding wear is the main mode of the surface failure of multiple mechanical parts. Both the lubrication state and contact temperature considerably influence wear characteristics, which may aggravate the transmission performance of gear pairs. Wear, contact temperature, as well as lubrication states are jointly explored. Therefore, an integrated wear prediction model was proposed through taking into account flash contact temperature and surface roughness of VH-CATT cylindrical gears in mixed elastohydrodynamic lubrication. According to the equivalent ellipse contact model of VH-CATT cylindrical gears and tooth surface equation, normal curvature and velocity relations for VH-CATT cylindrical gears were observed, and the normal meshing force was obtained through the consideration of load sharing coefficients and quality grades. Flash contact temperature was estimated by using the literature. This study proposes analytical solutions for investigating how various surface roughness, operation, and geometric parameters affect asperity contact ratio (ACR), asperity contact pressure (ACP), flash contact temperature (FCT), as well as wear depth (WD) related to driving gears. ACR, ACP, FCT, as well as WD initially decrease and then increase from engaging-in to engaging-out processes. The minimum occurs at the pitch point. The WD declines as module, cutter radius, and rotational velocity increase while augmenting when surface roughness and torques increase. The maximum and minimum wear depths in driving gears occur at the dedendum and pitch point, respectively. Its overall wear is reduced by 23.16 % compared to the wear of spur gears. The results are valuable for the studies of tooth pitting, wear resistance, and fatigue life improvement for VH-CATT cylindrical gear.
