Glaux maritima Linnaeus (1753), the monotypic species of the genus Glaux in Primulaceae, with unique physiological characteristics-salt gland, is a typical salt-secreting plant. We sequenced and assembled the complete chloroplast genome of Glaux maritima with a length of 154,939 bp, consisting of a large single-copy region (LSC) of 84,808 bp, a small single-copy region (SSC) of 18,031 bp, and two inverted repeats (IR) region of 26,050 bp. The chloroplast genome contained 111 genes, including 77 protein-coding genes, 4 rRNA genes, and 30 tRNA genes. The phylogenetic tree exhibited that Glaux maritima is nested in the monophyletic clade of Lysimachia hemsleyana, L. congestiflora.

Abstract We study scalar condensations around asymptotically Anti-de Sitter (AdS) regular reflecting shells. We show that the charged scalar field can condense around charged reflecting shells with both Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions. In particular, the radii of the asymptotically AdS hairy shells are discrete, which is similar to cases in asymptotically flat spacetimes. We also provide upper bounds for the radii of the hairy Dirichlet reflecting shells and above the bound, the scalar field cannot condense around the shell.

The synthesis of new C–C bonded two-dimensional (2D) covalent organic frameworks (COFs) is highly desirable. Here, a simple but effective synthetic strategy has been developed using an irreversible Brønsted acid-catalyzed aldol cyclotrimerization reaction by virtue of truxene as a linkage. Nonolefin C–C bonded 2D truxene-based covalent organic frameworks (Tru-COFs) were constructed by polymerization of 1,3,5-triindanonebenzene (TDB). The structure formation was confirmed by wide-angle X-ray scattering, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and solid-state 13C CP/MAS NMR. The results showed that the Tru-COFs were porous (645 m2/g) and chemically stable. Benzyl methylene in conjugated Tru-COFs more effectively produced photoinduced radicals than the model truxene compound. Due to the radical photoresponsiveness, Tru-COFs were efficient catalysts for photocatalytic oxidation of sulfides. We expect that this will provide a new synthetic methodology to obtain C–C bonded functional 2D COFs.

Aim: Cancer metastasis remains a major challenge for the clinical management of breast cancer, especially triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), and the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown. The aim of this study was to explore the mechanism of TNBC metastasis. Main methods: The expression of protein tyrosine phosphatase, non-receptor type 7 (HePTP) was detected using real time-PCR, western blot. Wound healing assay and transwell matrix assay were used to evaluate the pro-migration and pro-invasion potential of HePTP in vitro. Luciferase activity assay and nuclear extract analysis were used to evaluate Wnt/β-catenin signaling activity. Key findings: We reported that HePTP was overexpressed in TNBC, where it acted to drive migration and invasion of tumor cells. We showed that knockdown of HePTP significantly suppressed metastatic capacity of TNBC cells. Moreover, HePTP promoted cells migration and invasion by dephosphorylating glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK3β), thereby activating Wnt/β-catenin signaling. Additionally, we demonstrated that overexpression of HePTP in HePTP lowly expressed cells could effectively promote the migration and invasion of breast cancer cells. Significance: Our results suggest that HePTP plays a key role in the metastasis of TNBC via activating Wnt/β-catenin signaling. Hence, we propose that HePTP may serve as a novel prognostic marker and a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of TNBC.

Abstract We analyze the polarization content of gravitational waves in Horndeski theory. Besides the familiar plus and cross polarizations in Einstein’s General Relativity, there is one more polarization state which is the mixture of the transverse breathing and longitudinal polarizations. The additional mode is excited by the massive scalar field. In the massless limit, the longitudinal polarization disappears, while the breathing one persists. The upper bound on the graviton mass severely constrains the amplitude of the longitudinal polarization, which makes its detection highly unlikely by the ground-based or space-borne interferometers in the near future. However, pulsar timing arrays might be able to detect the polarization excited by the massive scalar field. Since additional polarization states appear in alternative theories of gravity, the measurement of the polarizations of gravitational waves can be used to probe the nature of gravity. In addition to the plus and cross states, the detection of the breathing polarization means that gravitation is mediated by massless spin 2 and spin 0 fields, and the detection of both the breathing and longitudinal states means that gravitation is propagated by the massless spin 2 and massive spin 0 fields.

Abstract We study the asymptotically flat quasi-local black hole/hairy black hole model with nonzero mass of the scalar field. We disclose effects of the scalar mass on transitions in a grand canonical ensemble with condensation behaviors of the parameter $$\psi _{2}$$ ψ2 , which is similar to approaches in holographic theories. We find that a more negative scalar mass makes the phase transition easier. We also obtain the analytical relation $$\psi _{2}\varpropto (T_{c}-T)^{1/2}$$ ψ2∝(Tc-T)1/2 around the critical phase transition points, implying a second order phase transition. Besides the parameter $$\psi _{2}$$ ψ2 , we show that metric solutions can be used to disclose properties of the transitions. In this work, we observe that phase transitions in a box are strikingly similar to holographic transitions in AdS gravity and the similarity provides insights into holographic theories.

Injectable decellularized matrix hydrogels derived from either myocardium or small intestinal submucosa (pDMYO-gel, pDSIS-gel) have been successfully used for myocardial injury repair. However, the relationship between tissue-specific biological functions and protein composition in these two materials is not clear yet. In this study, the protein composition, mechanical properties, and morphology of these two hydrogels and their effects on the behavior of neonatal rat cardiomyocytes (NRCMs) and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), are investigated. The results show that pDMYO-gel is more conducive to growth, adhesion, spreading, and maintenance of normal NRCM beating, due to its higher proportion of extracellular matrix (ECM) glycoproteins (49.55%) and some unique functional proteins such as annexin-6 (ANXA6), agrin (AGRN), cathepsin D (CTSD) and galectin-1 (LGALS1), whereas pDSIS-gel is more conducive to the proliferation of HUVECs. Animal study shows that pDMYO-gel has a better effect on improving cardiac function, inhibiting myocardial fibrosis and maintaining ventricular wall thickness in acute myocardial infarction models in vivo. Therefore, it is proposed that injectable pDMYO-gel hydrogel may be more suitable for functional recovery of myocardial injuries.

Oil and gas wastewater refers to the waste stream produced in special production activities such as drilling and fracturing. This kind of wastewater has the following characteristics: high salinity, high chromaticity, toxic and harmful substances, poor biodegradability, and a difficulty to treat. Interestingly, nanomaterials show great potential in water treatment technology because of their small size, large surface area, and high surface energy. When nanotechnology is combined with membrane treatment materials, nanofiber membranes with a controllable pore size and high porosity can be prepared, which provides more possibilities for oil–water separation. In this review, the important applications of nanomaterials in wastewater treatment, including membrane separation technology and photocatalysis technology, are summarized. Membrane separation technology is mainly manifested in ultrafiltration (UF), nanofiltration (NF), and reverse osmosis (RO). It also focuses on the application of semiconductor photocatalysis technology induced by TiO2 in the degradation of oil and gas wastewater. Finally, the development trends of nanomaterials in oil and gas wastewater treatment are prospected.

Ubiquitylation and deubiquitylation are reversible protein post-translational modification (PTM) processes involving the regulation of protein degradation under physiological conditions. Loss of balance in this regulatory system can lead to a wide range of diseases, such as cancer and inflammation. As the main members of the deubiquitinases (DUBs) family, ubiquitin-specific peptidases (USPs) are closely related to biological processes through a variety of molecular signaling pathways, including DNA damage repair, p53 and transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) pathways. Over the past decade, increasing attention has been drawn to USPs as potential targets for the development of therapeutics across diverse therapeutic areas. In this review, we summarize the crucial roles of USPs in different signaling pathways and focus on advances in the development of USP inhibitors, as well as the methods of screening and identifying USP inhibitors.

Abstract In this work, we utilize the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of a massless scalar perturbation to probe the Van der Waals-like small and large black holes (SBH/LBH) phase transition of charged topological Anti-de Sitter (AdS) black holes in four-dimensional massive gravity. We find that the signature of this SBH/LBH phase transition is detected in the isobaric as well as in the isothermal process. This further supports the idea that the QNMs can be an efficient tool to investigate the thermodynamical phase transition.

We investigate holographic phase transitions with dark matter sector in the AdS soliton background away from the probe limit. In cases of weak backreaction, we find that the larger coupling parameter α makes the gap of condensation shallower and the critical chemical potential keeps as a constant. In contrast, for very heavy backreaction, the dark matter sector could affect the critical chemical potential and the order of phase transitions. We also find the jump of the holographic topological entanglement entropy corresponds to a first order transition between superconducting states in this model with dark matter sector. More importantly, for certain sets of parameters, we observe novel phenomenon of retrograde condensation. In a word, the dark matter sector provides richer physics in the phase structure and the holographic superconductor properties are helpful in understanding dark matter.

Two novel aromatic imides, diarylcyclopentadienone-fused naphthalimides (BCPONI-2Br and TCPONI-2Br), are designed and synthesized by condensation coupling cyclopentadienone derivatives at the lateral position of naphthalimide skeleton. It has been found that BCPONI-2Br and TCPONI-2Br are highly electron-withdrawing acceptor moieties, which possess broad absorption bands and very low-lying LUMO energy levels, as low as −4.02 eV. On the basis of both building blocks, six low bandgap D-A copolymers (P1–P6) are prepared via Suzuki or Stille coupling reactions. The optical and electrochemical properties of the polymers are fine-tuned by the variations of donors (carbazole, benzodithiophene, and dithienopyrrole) and π-conjugation linkers (thiophene and benzene). All polymers exhibit several attractive photophysical and electrochemical properties, i.e., broad near-infrared (NIR) absorption, deep-lying LUMO levels (between −3.88 and −3.76 eV), and a very small optical bandgap (Egopt) as low as 0.81 eV, which represents the first aromatic diimide-based polymer with an Egopt of

Conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) have attracted intensive attention owing to their permanent nanoporosity, large surface area and possibility for functionalization, however their application in energy storage suffers from poor conductivity and low hetero-atom content. Here, we demonstrate a hybrid of conjugated microporous polymers and graphene aerogel with improved conductivity. After treating at 800°C in NH3, the nitrogen content increases to 9.8%. The resulting microporous carbon exhibits a significant rise in supercapacitive performance up to 325 F g−1, 55% higher than pristine triazine-based CMPs, with energy density up to 12.95 Wh kg−1. Moreover, it has high stability with 99% retention after 10,000 cycles at 5 A g−1. The synergy of hierarchical porous structure, graphene-based conduction path and high percentage of hybridization with nitrogen ensures effective ion/electron transport and diffusion, making NH3-treated graphene aerogel/CMP hybrid a promising electrode material in high-performance supercapacitor.

In this paper, we study the properties of gravitational waves in the scalar–tensor–vector gravity theory. The polarizations of the gravitational waves are investigated by analyzing the relative motion of the test particles. It is found that the interaction between the matter and vector field in the theory leads to two additional transverse polarization modes. By making use of the polarization content, the stress-energy pseudo-tensor is calculated by employing the perturbed equation method. Additionally, the relaxed field equation for the modified gravity in question is derived by using the Landau–Lifshitz formalism suitable to systems with non-negligible self-gravity.

We demonstrate a simple and highly sensitive optical fiber relative humidity (RH) sensor based on a long-period fiber grating (LPFG) coated with polyethylene glycol (PEG)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) composite films. The resonance wavelength of the LPFG is sensitive to environmental humidity due to the change in effective refractive index caused by the strong surface absorption and desorption of the porous PEG/PVA coatings. The sensor is sensitive in a wide range from 50% to 95% RH, with a highest sensitivity of 2.485 nm/%RH in the range 50–75% RH. The proposed RH sensor has the advantages of compact size, good reversibility, and stability, which makes it attractive for high-humidity environments.

Over the past decades, extensive efforts have been devoted to modulating the textural properties, morphology and microstructure of γ-Al2O3, since the physiochemical properties of γ-Al2O3 have close correlations with the performance of hydrotreating catalysts. In this work, a spongy mesoporous γ-alumina (γ-Al2O3) was synthesized using Al-based metal-organic frameworks (Al-MOFs) as precursor by two-step pyrolysis, and this Al-MOF-derived γ-Al2O3 was used as hydrodesulfurization (HDS) catalyst support, to explore the effect of support on the HDS performance. Compared with industrial γ-Al2O3, the spongy alumina displayed well-developed porosity with relatively high surface area, large pore volume, and abundant weak Lewis acid sites. Based on catalyst characterization and performance evaluation, sulfurized molybdenum and cobalt molecules were able to incorporate and highly disperse into channels of the spongy mesoporous alumina, increasing the dispersion of active catalytic species. The spongy γ-Al2O3 was also able to enhance the diffusion efficiency and mass transfer of reactant molecules due to its improved texture properties. Therefore, the corresponding catalyst presented higher activities toward HDS of dibenzothiophene (DBT) than that from industrial alumina. The spongy mesoporous γ-alumina synthesized by Al-MOFs provides a new alternative to further develop novel γ-alumina materials with different texture and various nanoporous structures, considering the diversity of MOFs with different compositions, topological structures, and morphology.
