61. Diffusion Kinetics Study of Lithium Ion in the Graphdiyne Based Electrode

Abstract

Herein, we report a comparative investigation of the electrochemical lithium diffusion within graphidyne(GDY) based electrodes. The transfer kinetic behaviors of lithium ions during the insertion/extraction process are analyzed through different methods including the galvanostatic intermittent titration technique(GITT) and the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). GDY with the morphology of nanosheets(GDY NS) shows lithium diffusion coefficients in the orders range of 10−12–10−13 cm2/s through the GITT method. Meanwhile, EIS indicates quite a lower value of lithium diffusion coefficients between 10−13 and 10−15 cm2/s, which indicates that the analysis technique has an influence on the evaluation of GDY-based electrodes. In addition, under the same measurement condition of GITT, GDY nanoparticles(GDY NP) exhibit a lower value of Li+ diffusion coefficient(10−14–10−16 cm2/s) during the charge-discharge process compared to those of GDY NS, which can be ascribed to the wide distributing range of particle size in GDY NP based electrodes. The analysis results in this work reveal that the aggregating forms of GDY electrode material have an important effect on the diffusion process of lithium ions, which provides a pathway to optimize the performance of GDY-based energy storage devices.

Abstract

Enhancing the electrochemical stability and reversibility of redox‐active organic molecules is crucial to improve the performance of non‐aqueous redox flow batteries (RFBs). Compared with the widely adopted strategy of molecular engineering, we show in this study that tuning the intermolecular interaction between the active material with the supporting electrolyte is another feasible way to address the performance of non‐aqueous organic RFBs. Combined with theoretical and experimental investigations, the influence of Lewis acidity of the supporting electrolyte cations and anions on the electrochemical stability and reversibility of bipyridine‐based anode material is revealed. As a demonstration, a redox flow cell based on 4,4′‐bipyridine anolyte and ferrocene catholyte shows greatly enhanced performance by using supporting electrolyte composed of soft Lewis acid and soft Lewis base. This study provides an alternative, yet highly effective way to addressing the cyclability of an organic compound for non‐aqueous RFBs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to investigate the microbiological profile of infection, assess bacterial resistance and identify risk factors for multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial infection among KTR.Methods: During the study period, 866 recipients underwent kidney transplant surgery. We studied the distribution of pathogens, resistance rate of MDR bacteria and the risk factors of MDR bacterial infection.Results: Totally, 214 species of pathogens (110 species were MDR bacteria) were isolated in 119 KTR. Escherichia coli (E. coli) was the most common bacteria of the infection. MDR extended spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL-E) were most resistant to ampicillin, cefazolin, ciprofloxacin and complex sulfamethoxazole, while quite sensitive to imipenem, amikacin and piperacillin/tazobactam (PIT). Abstract

Purpose As a promising photodynamic therapy (PDT) agent, Al(III) phthalocyanine chloride tetrasulfonic acid (AlPcS4) provides deep penetration into tissue, high quantum yields, good photostability, and low photobleaching. However, its low delivery efficiency and high binding affinity to serum albumin cause its low penetration into cancer cells, further limiting its PDT effect on gastric cancer. In order to improve AlPcS4/PDT effect, the AlPcS4 delivery sys tems with different drug carriers were synthesized and investigated. Materials and methods Gold nanorods, cationic liposomes, and Pluronic® F127 nanomicellars were used to formulate the AlPcS4 delivery systems. The anticancer effect was evaluated by CCK-8 assay and colony formation assay. The delivery efficiency of AlPcS4 and the binding affinity to serum proteins were determined by fluorescence intensity assay. The apoptosis and necrosis ability, reactive oxygen species and singlet oxygen generation, mitochondrial transmembrane potential and ([Ca2+]i) concentration were further measured to evaluate the mechanism of cell death. Results The series of synthesized AlPcS4 delivery systems with different drug carriers improve the limited PDT effect in varying degrees. In contrast, AlPcS4 complex with gold nanorods has significant anticancer effects because gold nanorods are not only suitable for AlPcS4 delivery, but also exhibit enhanced singlet oxygen generation effect and photothermal effect to induce cell death directly. Moreover, AlPcS4 complex with cationic liposomes shows the potent inhibition effect because of its optimal AlPcS4 delivery efficiency and ability to block serum albumin. In addition, AlPcS4 complex with Pluronic F127 exhibits inferior PDT effect but presents lower cytotoxicity, slower dissociation rate, and longer retention time of incorporated drugs; thus, F127–AlPcS4 is used for prolonged gastric cancer therapy. Conclusion The described AlPcS4 drug delivery systems provide promising agents for gastric cancer therapy.
