This study was purposed to investigate the dynamically monitoring minimal residual disease (MRD) by flow cytometry (FCM) in patients with acute leukemia (AL) after complete remission and its relation with prognosis. From October 2010 to May 2012, 58 cases of AL (including 45 cases of AML and 13 cases of ALL) were regularly monitored for MRD in bone marrow by FCM and their bone marrow morphology was observed by light microscopy at the same time which continued to relapse or to follow-up deadline in the Department of Hematology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. Through average follow-up for 9 months (3 - 21 months), the average MRD level of patients with CR was got. And the prognostic value of MRD level at different time points in AL patients after CR was analysed and summarized. MRD ≥ 1% was defined as positive, otherwise, as negative. The results showed that the maximum and minimum MRD levels of 45 AML patients were 9.57% and 0.01% respectively, the average was 0.67%; the maximum and minimum MRD levels of 13 cases of ALL patients were 7.9% and 0.0016% respectively, the average was 0.99%. Among 44 cases after induction therapy, the relapse rate of MRD(+) group was 53.3% (8/15), the relapse rate of MRD(-) group was 10.3% (3/29), and the relapse rate of MRD(+) group was higher than that of MRD(-) group (χ(2) = 7.58, P = 0.006). Among 58 cases after the first consolidatory therapy, the relapse rate of MRD(+) group was 62.5% (5/8), the relapse rate of MRD(-) group was 16.0% (8/50), and the relapse rate of MRD(+) group was higher than that of MRD(-) group (χ(2) = 6.11, P = 0.013). It is concluded that MRD detected by FCM has a large range (10(-6) - 10(-2)), which can not be used as a single indicator of complete remission. When MRD ≥ 1% after induction therapy and the first consolidatory therapy, the relapse rate significantly increases, MRD can be used as a sensitive indicator for prognosis.

Series of Eu3+ doped layered perovskite structure M2TiO4: Eu3+ (M = Ca, Sr, Ba) red phosphors were prepared by the high-temperature solid state reaction method. Their phase compositions and photoluminescence properties were investigated by XRD, UV-Vis DRS and fluorescence spectra The results indicated that pure Sr2 TiO4 and Ba2 TiO4 powers could be prepared under 1 100 degrees C for 2 hours, but Ca2 TiO4 powers could not be synthesized even raising the calcination temperature and lengthening the calcination time. Ba2TiO4: Eu3+ phosphor emitted 594 nm (5D0 --> 7F1) and 615 nm (5D0 --> 7F2) orange-red light under the excitation of 395 nm. Sr2TiO4 : Eu3+ phosphor gave a unusual and strong orange-red emission of 578 nm (5D0 --> 7F0) and 626 nm (5 D0 --> 7F2) under the excitation of near ultraviolet or blue light, resulting in the better color purity and higher luminescent intensity. In addition, this phosphor had the highest luminous efficiency when excited by the charge migration excitation at 363 nm and it had the great potential to be a red phosphor for N-UV LED and blue light chip.

Species of Cytospora Ehrenb. and associated teleomorphs cause dieback and canker on over 85 species of angiosperm and gymnosperm plants throughout the world (2). Cytospora tritici Punith. was first observed on Triticum asetivum in Germany in 1980 but may also affect many hardwoods (3). During a survey of landscape trees in 2007, Populus spp. with cankers were found in Fushun, Baoxing, and Luding counties and Chengdu city in Sichuan Province. In these trees, bark canker pathogens discolored the sapwood. During damp weather, conidia were pushed out and formed orange spore horns. Conidiomatal stromata were immersed in bark, prominent, and 1.53 ± 0.33 mm in diameter (n = 10). Discs were white to grey, circular, oval, and 0.59 ± 0.14 mm in diameter (n = 10), with one ostiole per disc. Ostioles were dark grey. Locules were multi-chambered, chambers irregular. Conidia were lelongate-allantoid shaped, hyaline, aseptate, 5.04 ± 0.65 μm long (n = 50), and 1.22 ± 0.13 μm wide (n = 50). Fragments (5 × 5 mm 2 ) of the junction of diseased and healthy tissues were surface sterilized with 1% NaOCl for 30 s and then rinsed twice in sterile distilled water. The pieces were placed on potato dextrose agar (PDA) plates and incubated at 25°C for 7 days. The obtained isolates were cultured on PDA at 25°C in diffuse fluorescent light for 30 days. Upon isolation, the mycelium grew at a rate of 3 to 5 mm per day at 25°C, forming pale white-to-pure white flat colonies. Conidiomata never formed on PDA. ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 sequences were amplified via PCR from genomic DNA obtained from mycelia using universal primers ITS1 and ITS4 (4). The amplification products showed 100% sequence homology with C. tritici isolate DQ243812 from the GenBank database. The ITS sequences were submitted to GenBank (Accession No. JQ277333 to JQ277336). Pathogenicity was confirmed by inoculating 20 disinfected (70% ethanol) Populus tomentosa cuttings. Cuttings were incubated at 25°C for 30 days. Another two cuttings were treated with water agar as controls. In 18 of the 20 cuttings, the cambium developed a brown color and appeared water soaked 15 days later, whereas controls did not develop any symptoms. C. tritici was reisolated from symptomatic tissues. To our knowledge, this is the first report of C. tritici in China causing canker on Populus spp. Cytospora canker is common in practically all countries where poplar are grown. Canker expansion increases when tree defenses are compromised, usually by seasonal dormancy but also by drought, cold injury of wood, sun scald of bark, flooding of root, hail, freezing, or other stress (1). Objective: The aim of this research was to investigate the third phase Anisakis simplex larvae (Anisakis L₃) infection in marine fish caught in Zhoushan Fishery and to find out its physicochemical and biological characteristics., Methods: A total of 444 fish belonging to 29 species were dissected to isolate anisakis larvae which were then morphologically identified. The survival tolerance of Anisakis L₃ were observed in various conditions, such as in different temperature and medium., Results: A total of 218 fish from 21 species were infected by Anisakis simplex larvae, yielding an overall infection rate of 49.10% (218/444). Trichiurus haumela, pneumatophorus japonicus, miichthys miiuy, argyrosomus argentatus and anguilliformes had high infection rate and had an average infection intensity of 15.28 per fish. 3332 Anisakis larvae were detected in 218 fish, among which Anisakis L₃ and Pseudoterranova larvae accounted for 99.46% (3314/3332) and 0.54% (18/3332) respectively. Anisakis L₃ was highly resistant to common condiment. We found the liquor with high concentration of alcohol showed better insecticidal effect than that with low concentration of alcohol (t = 4.105, P < 0.05) and low concentration mebendazole composite was not only more effective than high concentration mebendazole composite (F = 45.198, P < 0.01) but also more effective than other drugs, such as albendazole and mebendazole. Anisakis L₃ could live up to 9 h and 12 h at -20°C, -10°C respectively, however they were very sensitive to high temperature. It has been shown that they could only survive for less than 11 s and 1 s at 50°C and 60°C respectively., Conclusion: The observed Anisakis L₃ infection rate in the marine fish found in Zhoushan Fishery was very high. Anisakis L₃ showed high resistance to low temperature but not to high temperature.

Y2O3 powders doped with rare-earth ions were synthesized by sol-gel combustion synthesis. Effects of different calcinating temperatures, Er+ doping concentration and Yb3+ doping concentration were investigated. It was shown that the single well crystallized Y2O3 powders could be obtained at 800 degrees C; as the calcinating temperature increased, the crystallinity and upconversion luminescence intensity were higher; the particle size was uniform around 1 microm at 900 degrees C; when Er3+ doping concentration was 1 mol%, the green upconversion luminescence intensity reached the maximum, but for red upconversion luminescence, when Er3+ doping concentration was 4 mol%, its luminescence intensity reached the maximum; as the ratio of Yb3+ to Er3+ was 4:1, the green emission intensity reached the maximum, while the red emission intensity was always increasing as Yb3+ doping concentration increased.

Objective: To create civil capacity rating scale for mentally disabled patients, and explore its feasibility during the forensic psychiatric expertise., Methods: The civil capacity-related items were determined after discussion and consultation. The civil capacity rating scale for mentally disabled patients was established and the manual was created according to the logistic sequence of the assessment. The rating scale was used during the civil assessment in four institutes., Results: There were 14 items in civil capacity rating scale for mentally disabled patients. Two hundred and two subjects were recruited and divided into three groups according to the experts' opinion on their civil capacities: full civil capacity, partial civil capacity and no civil capacity. The mean score of the three groups were 2.32 +/- 2.45, 11.62 +/- 4.01 and 25.02 +/- 3.90, respectively, and there was statistical differences among the groups. The Cronbach alpha of the rating scale was 0.9724, and during the split-reliability test, the two-splited part of the rating scale were highly correlated (r = 0.9729, P = 0.000). The Spearman correlative coefficient between each item and the score of the rating scale was from 0.643 to 0.882 (P = 0.000). There was good correlation between the conclusion according to the rating scale and the experts' opinion (kappa = 0.841, P = 0.000). When the discriminate analysis was used, 7 items were included into the discrimination equation, and 92.6% subjects were identified as the correct groups using the equation., Conclusion: There is satisfied reliability and validity on civil capacity rating scale for mentally disabled patients. The rating scale can be used as effective tools to grade their civil capacity during the forensic expertise.

Objective: To study the rates of infection and physicochemical characteristics of the third stage Anisakis simplex larvae among marine fish caught in Zhoushan Fishery., Methods: Fish were dissected to detect Anisakis larvae and identified morphologically. The survival tolerance of the third stage Anisakis simplex larvae in various medium, anthelmintic drug, temperature were studied in laboratory., Results: The total infection rate of Anisakis simplex larvae in fish was 49.10%. High rates of Anisakis infection were observed in hairtails, Pneumatophorus japonicus, Miichthys milky, Argyrosomus argentatus and Muraenesox cinereus (infection rates > 90 percent). The infection intensity of Anisakis per fish varied from 1 to 114. The mean intensity of Anisakis larvae was 15.20 per fish. 3314 Anisakis were detected in 218 marine fish. The survival tolerance of the third stage Anisakis simplex larvae in various Medium, anthelmintic drug, temperature were observed in laboratory condition. The third stage Anisakis simplex larvae showed a strong endurance to stock condiment. The anisakicidal effects of the high purity wine were more effective than that of the low purity wine. The anisakicidal effects of 6.25 g/L mebendazole composite were more effective than that of 18.75 g/L and also more effective than those of other drugs. The third stage Anisakis simplex larvae could survive with length up to 9 h and 12 h in condition of -20°C, -10°C and very sensitive to high temperature treatment. However, they could barely survive in more than 11 s and 1 s under the temperature of 50°C and 60°C., Conclusion: The percentage of infection was fairly high for Anisakis larvae of marine fish caught in Zhoushan Fishery. The third stage Anisakis simplex larvae was shown to have a fairly good tolerance to the external environments. The marine fish were frozen under -20°C beyond 24 h before they were sold on market and cooked with high temperature seemed to be helpful for preventing and controlling effectively the infection of Anisakis.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the immunophenotyping characteristics of adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) patients in groups of different ages. Immunophenotyping was performed in 260 ALL patients by flow cytometry using a panel of monoclonal antibodies and CD45/SSC gating. The results indicated that (1) all the 82 cases of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) expressed CD7 (100%) while the positive rate of CD2 remarkably decreased with aging. The positive rate of CD2 in patients aged 14 to 18 years (adolescents) was 91.67%, which is significantly higher than that in cases aged 19 to 35 years (young adults) and > 35 years (older adults) (65.71% and 43.48% respectively, p < 0.05); the positive rate of CD34 and HLA-DR increased with aging, there was significant difference of the HLA-DR expression between the older adults group (39.13%) and the other two groups (4.17% in adolescents and 11.43% in young adults respectively (p < 0.05). Moreover, there were significant differences of the myeloid antigen (MyAg) and CD13 expression between the older adults and younger adults (p < 0.05). (2) As to adult B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), the positive rates of CD19 and HLA-DR in 178 cases were 100%; the positive rate of CD33 in young adults was significant higher than that in adolescents (p < 0.05), the differences of the other marker expressions failed to reach statistical significance in adult B-ALL patients. It is concluded that the immunophenotypes of adult T-ALL are evidently heterogeneous in different ages, and expression with more aberrant phenotypes indicates poor prognostic significance in patients older than 35 years. There is no significant association of immunophenotypes with ages among different age groups of adult B-ALL.

The aim of this study was to explore the clinical features and survival of adult patients with CD20 positive B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). The clinical manifestations, examination results, therapeutic effect and survival rate of 119 adult B-ALL patients diagnosed and treated in our hospital from May 2004 to January 2008 were analyzed retrospectively. The results showed that among 119 cases, CD20 positive B-ALL accounted for 40 cases (33.61%), CD20 negative B-ALL patents accounted for 79 cases (66.39), the percentage of male patients in CD20 positive and negative groups were 72.50% and 50.63%, the leukocyte counts at diagnosis in these two groups were (27.35+/-30.29)x10(9)/L and (0.11+/-81.72)x10(9)/L, respectively, there were significant differences (p<0.05), whereas the distribution of age, infiltration of liver, spleen, lymph nodes and central nervous system, the hemoglobin and platelet levels, the expression of myeloid lineage marker, the incidence of Ph chromosome, the ratio of hyperdiploid and normal karyotype, the complete remission rate within 4 weeks, induction death rate and relapse rate and so on in CD20 positive and negative groups showed no significant differences (p>0.05). The analysis of Kaplan-Meier curve on survival rate demonstrated that the median overall survival time and 3-year overall survival rate of adult B-ALL patients in CD20 positive and negative groups were 11.0 months and 12.0 months, 28% and 20% respectively, there were no statistical differences (p=0.832). It is concluded that the expression of CD20 in adult B-ALL appears to be associated with sex and leukocyte count, but not associated with other clinical features, which indicates no significant influence on the prognosis of patients.

Testamentary capacity is one of the civil competences, it means that a natural person enjoys the capacity or qualification to establish testament and deal with his property. Recently, the cases of testamentary capacity assessment of the mentally disordered are increasing. This article firstly introduces the concepts of the testament as well as the testamentary capacity, and then summarizes the assessment standard of the testamentary capacity, by using the Banks v. Goodfellow case as a basis to make the standard criteria including: the understanding of the nature of a will and codicil, the knowledge of the general extent of one's assets, the knowledge of the natural object of one's bounty, the understanding of the impact of the distribution of the assets of the estate, and the absence of a delusion specifically affecting the distribution of the estate. The impact factors of the testamentary capacity, including dementia, mood disorder, schizophrenia, alcohol, drug, and undue influence, etc., are summarized. Lastly, the related assessment tools such as the Mini-Mental State Examination, the Clock-Drawing Test, and the Testament Definition Scale are introduced briefly.

Objective: To search the criteria for evaluating the civil competence of the mental disorders involved in contract dispute., Methods: Data on the interviewee's mental status and the forensic expertise were collected retrospectively. And 6 indexes were selected and graded: awareness of situation, factual understanding of issues, appreciation of likely consequences, rational manipulation of information, functioning in one's own environment and communication of choice. All of the data were analyzed by SPSS., Results: Fifty six cases were included and interviewee's civil competence was graded to three levels: full civil competence, diminished civil competence, and no civil competence. These cases included two types of contract: the real estate related contract (38 cases) and the labor related contract (14 cases). All of the 6 indexes were well correlated to the forensic expertise. The related coefficient was from 0.703 to 0.834, and the interrelated coefficient of the 6 items was also high, from 0.712 to 0.877., Conclusion: It is feasible to divide the civil competence of the mental disorders into three grades. As the basis, these 6 indexes mentioned above are representative and can be applied in further standardized and quantified assessment of civil competence.

Objective: To determine the best time for assessing mental disability due to brain damage., Methods: Ninety-three mental disabilities due to brain damage in traffic accidents were assessed and their follow-up studies were taken in different period after the brain injury: 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months. The patients' brain imaging, electroencephalogram (EEG) and detailed medical history were collected. Then to interview the patients' family members and to assess the patients' mental conditions with Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS), Social Disability Screening Schedule (SDSS), and Activity of Daily Living Scale (ADL). Diagnosis and disability assessments were based on all of the above information., Results: ADL and SDSS had good distinction between different levels of disability and different time. The overall sample demonstrated that there was no statistically significant difference between patients' ADL and SDSS averages in 9 and 12 months. For mild disability, there was no statistically significant difference between ADL and SDSS averages in 6, 9 and 12 months. For moderate disability, there was no statistically significant difference between ADL and SDSS in 9 and 12 months. And there was no statistically significant difference between ADL and SDSS averages in 6, 9 and 12 months for severe disability., Conclusion: For mild disability, it is recommended to assess the mental disability 6 months after the injury, for moderate disability, it is 9 months. The statistics data recommended that the best assessment time for severe disability is 6 months after injury. However, our comprehensive analysis concludes that the suitable time is 9 months after injury.

Objective: To seek and ascertain indicators that can be used in the civil competence assessment of the mental disorders involved in compensation of personal injury., Methods: A retrospective study was made on the data related to the interviewee's mental status assessed by forensic experts during the period from 2003 to 2005 in Institute of Forensic Science, Ministry of Justice, P.R.China. The 6 indicators, including awareness of situation, factual understanding of issues, appreciation of likely consequences, rational manipulation of information, functioning in one's own environment, and communication of choice, were graded and statistically analyzed using SPSS 11.5 software., Results: The 6 indicators correlated well with the assessment of forensic experts ,with the related coefficient between 0.632 and 0.876, and the inter-related coefficient among the 6 indicators between 0.575 and 0.911., Conclusion: The 6 indicators could be used for the civil competence assessment and may also be taken as the basis for further standardization and quantification of civil competence.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of socioeconomic status on the distribution of cardiovascular risk factors and clinical treatments of patients with acute myocardial infarction in Beijing., Methods: In Beijing, a prospective, multi-center, registration study was carried out which including 800 patients who were consecutively hospitalized for ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction within 24 hours after event attack in 19 different hospitals in Beijing between November, 2005 and December, 2006. Indicators of socioeconomic status included self-reported personal income (< 500, 500-2000, > 2000 RMB/ month), educational attainment (< or = 12 and > 12 years) and status of medical insurance (yes/no). According to categories of education, patients were categorized into two groups of lower socioeconomic status and higher socioeconomic status. Differences of cardiovascular risk factors and clinical treatments were compared across the two groups respectively., Results: Proportion of diabetes and hyperlipidemia in patients with higher socioeconomic status was much higher than that of patients with lower socioeconomic status (P < 0.05, P < 0.01 respectively). Patients with lower socioeconomic status were more likely to be smokers (P < 0.05). The rates of receiving coronary angiography and PTCA were much lower in patients with lower socioeconomic status. Medical insurance and income were the most important two socioeconomic factors determining the use of PTCA., Conclusion: Compared to patients with lower socioeconomic status, patients with higher socioeconomic status had higher rates of hyperlipidemia and diabetes but lower smoking rate among cardiovascular risk factors. The rates of receiving interventional therapies were much lower in patients with lower socioeconomic status.

Background: Definitive treatment for heart attack is early reperfusion with either angioplasty or thrombolytic therapy, and the benefit is strictly time-dependent. Patient outcomes are improved with either therapy when initiated as soon as possible. Recognition of heart attack symptoms is logically tied to taking action to receive prompt emergency care. Inadequate knowledge of heart attack symptoms may prolong delay. The purpose of this study was to document knowledge about heart attack symptoms in Beijing residents and to identify the characteristics associated with increased knowledge of heart attack., Methods: A structured survey was conducted in 18 communities in Beijing from March 1 through June 10 in 2006. Addresses and participants were selected randomly following a stratification. The survey was designed to collect knowledge of heart attack symptoms from sampled adults in each community., Results: A total of 4627 respondents completed the questionnaires correctly, and 50.29% of them were female. Totally 64.15% of the respondents reported chest pain or discomfort (common symptoms) as a symptom of heart attack; 75.38% reported at least one of the following eight symptoms as a symptom of heart attack: back pain, shortness of breath, arm pain or numbness, nausea or vomiting, neck, jaw or shoulder pain, epigastric pain, sweating, weakness (less common symptoms); 20.36% correctly reported four or more heart attack symptoms, only 7.4% knew all the correct heart attack symptoms, and 28.94% knew about reperfusion therapy for heart attack; 31.7% reported to call 120 or 999 while having a heart attack themselves; however 89.6% reported to call 120 or 999 when someone else is suffering from a heart attack. Very old persons and those with health insurance coverage, high education level, high household income, longer living in Beijing and previous experience with heart disease had greater knowledge of heart attack symptoms., Conclusions: Public knowledge of common heart attack symptoms as well as less common heart attack symptoms is deficient in Beijing residents. But their knowledge of calling emergency medical services when someone is having a heart attack is relatively adequate. Public health efforts are needed to increase the recognition of the major heart attack symptoms in both the general public and groups at high risk for an acute cardiac event, especially in socioeconomically disadvantaged subgroups, including persons with low education level, low household income, and no health insurance coverage.

Objective: To explore the influencing factors of schizophrenic patient's capability in civil litigation, and to establish the base of quantitative study about execution of civil litigation., Methods: To study questionnaires completed from patients with and without civil litigation capabilities and to determine the influencing factors from medical and forensic aspects., Results: One hundred patients were admitted to the study and were divided into two groups based on capability in civil litigation. There were significant differences in psychiatric and legal aspects between the groups., Conclusion: Capability of schizophrenic patients in perusing civil litigation had been impaired or even complete lost.

Objective: To explore potential application of Diminished Criminal Responsibility Rating Scale (DCRRS) on rape offenders., Methods: The DCRRS was used retrospectively to study 77 cases of rape offenders. They were divided into three groups according to the degree of diminished criminal responsibility., Results: There were significant differences in rating scores among three groups (mild group 21.32+/-5.56, moderate group 25.92+/-5.19, and major group 29.54+/-4.62), and 16 of 18 items showed good correlation with the total scores of the scale (r=0.256 to 0.611), 7 factors were extracted by the factor analysis and their cumulative squared loadings was 75.784%., Conclusion: The DCRRS is valid and reliable in a in assessment of criminal responsibility schizophrenic rape offenders.

Objective: To investigate the association between G72 gene polymorphisms and depression,and to probe the difference of G72 gene polymorphisms between depression with and without mixed family history., Methods: The polymorphisms of G72 gene (rs947267 and rs2181953) were detected by PCR technique in 100 depressive patients without mixed family history, 50 depressive patients with mixed family history and 86 normal controls., Results: (1) The frequencies of rs947267 genotypes and alleles in female depressive patients without mixed family history were significant different to the controls (P=0.017 and P=0.008), the OR scores were 0.300 (A/A, P=0.010), 0.456(A, P=0.008) and 2.195(C, P=0.008) respectively; but in male patients there were no significant differences to the controls (P>0.05). (2) The frequencies of rs2181953 genotypes and alleles in the depressive patients without mixed family history were not significantly different to the controls regardless of sex (P>0.05). (3) The frequencies of rs947267 and rs2181953 genotypes and alleles in the depressive patients with mixed family history were not significantly different to the controls regardless of sex (P>0.05)., Conclusion: The G72 gene polymorphism may be associated with female depressive patients without mixed family history,C allele of rs947267 may be the risk factor.

Objective: To explore the feasibility of Diminished Criminal Responsibility Rating Scale(DCRRS) to schizophrenia offenders., Methods: The DCRRS were used respectively to 325 cases of schizophrenia offender which were divided into three groups according to the degree of criminal responsibility., Results: There were significant differences in rating score among three groups (mild group 21.16 +/- 4.17, moderate group 25.87 +/- 5.43, major group 29.35 +/- 4.60), and all items have good correlation with the total score of the scale. 6 factors were extracted by the factor analysis, and their cumulative squared loadings is 68.485%., Conclusion: The diminished criminal responsibility in schizophrenia offenders could be divided into three grades.

The aim of this study was to explore the expression of beta-catenin in acute leukemia bone marrow cells and its role in the development of acute leukemia. The expression of beta-catenin of bone marrow cells was detected by immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry in 20 cases of newly diagnosed acute leukemia. Meanwhile the expression of the proliferating index Ki-67 was detected by immunocytochemistry. The results showed that the expression of beta-catenin and Ki-67 in acute leukemia bone marrow cells was significantly higher than those in control group (P < 0.05). The migration of beta-catenin from cytoplasm to nuclear was observed in acute leukemia bone marrow cells. There was a positive correlation between the expressions of beta-catenin and Ki-67 in all the cases and the Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.845. In conclusion, the expression of beta-catenin was significantly high in acute leukemia bone marrow cells and showed a positive correlation with the cell proliferation. It suggests that beta-catenin may be involved in the development of acute leukemia through promoting the excessive proliferation of cells.

In order to explore the expression of TRAIL in primary acute leukemic cells and the effect of chemotherapeutic drug on TRAIL expression in acute leukemic cells, the expression of TRAIL was assessed by flow cytometry on day 0, day 1, day 3 and day 5 in 16 patients with acute leukemia received chemotherapy. Meanwhile, the bone marrow mononuclear cells of acute leukemia patients were cultured in vitro with VP-16 and INFalpha-2a. Expression of TRAIL was analyszed by flow cytometry at 24, 48 and 72 hours after treatment. The results showed that the expression of TRAIL in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells was upregulated significantly from day 1 after chemotherapy (P < 0.05). In in vitro culture test, VP-16 upregulated the expression of TRAIL on acute leukemia bone marrow mononuclear cells (P < 0.05). Compared with VP-16 alone, the combination of VP-16 with IFNalpha-2a showed no synergic effects on the expression of TRAIL. It is concluded that the expression of TRAIL increases after chemotherapy in vivo and after treatment with VP-16 and IFN in vitro, which suggests that the apoptosis induced by TRAIL may play an important role in chemotherapy of leukemia.

Objective: To create an instrument to determine the mental prisoners' competency to serve a sentence, which is according with the Chinese legal system., Methods: Integrating the Chinese criminal jurisprudence and the authors' forensic psychiatric experience, the research team created an instrument which called Competency to serve a sentence Rating scale firstly, then used the instrument retrospectively, in the end the validity and reliability of the instrument were inspected and, through an diagnostic test, the feasibility of the instrument was evaluated., Results: Homogeneity reliability of the instrument is 0.8779, the correspondence of the conclusion between the instrument and the expertise is 0.909, except the positive likelihood ratio is 0.0683, the other diagnostic index are better., Conclusion: The Competency to serve a sentence Rating Scale is feasible.

The study was aimed to explore the chemokine receptor CXCR4 expression on the B-lineage acute lymphocyte leukemia (B-ALL) cells of various differentiation stages and its relationship with myeloid antigen expression. Flow cytometry was used to detect the CXCR4 expression by means of double-fluorescence labeling with CD19/SCC gating. The results demonstrated that 92.9% B-ALL patients were positively expressed CXCR4. The CD10, CD34 antigens were differently expressed in differentiation stages of B-ALL. The immunotypes of (1) CD10(-)/CD34(+), (2) CD10(+)/CD34(+), (3) CD10(+)/CD34(-), (4) CD10(-)/CD34(-) presented at various differential stages from premature to mature. The positive rate of CXCR4 were (27.60 +/- 15.25)%, (30.95 +/- 15.50)%, (55.62 +/- 18.37)% and (77.25 +/- 10.86)% from (1) to (4) respectively. The median fluorescence intensity (MFI) of CXCR4 expression were 46.69 +/- 15.06, 47.43 +/- 12.39, 79.28 +/- 24.71 and 132.92 +/- 88.09. CXCR4 expressions were not significantly different between the premature stages of CD10(-)/CD34(+) and CD10(+)/CD34(+) subtypes, but both were lower than the CXCR4 expression in CD10(+)/CD34(-) and CD10(-)/CD34(-) subtypes. The highest incidence of CXCR4 expression was found in CD10(-)/CD34(-) B-ALL. The average level of CXCR4 expression on B-ALL cell with positive myeloid antigen CD13 or/and CD33 (my(+)B-ALL) was (12.56 +/- 3.88)% of positive rate and 39.82 +/- 11.58 of MFI, both of which were less than the positive rate (37.57 +/- 11.59)% and the MFI (50.72 +/- 13.34) on B-ALL cells with negative myeloid antigen expression (mye(-)B-ALL). In conclusion, the CXCR4 expression is associated with differentiation level of B-ALL cells and down-regulated when co-expressed with myeloid antigens.

Objective: Explore the affecting factors of mentally prisoner's competency to serve a sentence (CSS), establish the base of quantitative study of CSS., Methods: Firstly, the researchers compile a questionnaire named legal-psycho ability of competency to serve a sentence questionnaire, then the researchers scaling the object with RTHD, and ask all object complete the questionnaire. there a hypothesis, that the object who are cured in cured ward is incompetent to serve a sentence (ISS), and the other who are stay in rehabilitated ward is competent to serve a sentence (CSS)., Results: There are 185 object admitted the study, the ISS group the CSS group have significance between psychiatric and legal aspects., Conclusion: At the influence of psychiatric symptoms, the mentally prisoner's competency to serve a sentence had been impaired, and they should been transferred from prison to hospital.

Objective: To create an instrument to determine the mental disorder offenders' competency to stand trial, which is according with the Chinese legal system., Methods: Integrating the foreign instruments and the Chinese criminal jurisprudence, and combing the authors' forensic psychiatric experience, the research team created an instrument which was called Competency to stand trial Determining Instrument firstly, then used the instrument in practice, in the end the validity and reliability of the instrument were inspected, and through an diagnostic test, the feasibility of the instrument was evaluated., Results: Split-half and homogeneity reliability of the instrument is 0.9366 and 0.9213 respectively, the correspondence of the conclusion between the instrument and the expertise is 0.704. Except the sensitivity is 0.6097, all the other diagnostic index are over 0.80., Conclusion: The Competency to stand trial Determining Instrument is feasible.

Objective: To investigate the personality and mental health of the objects of substance (caffeine, cocaine, hallucinogens and so on) abstinence who got labor education and rehabilitation., Methods: 258 male objects and 250 female objects of substance abstinence selected randomly from institutions of labor education and rehabilitation were assessed with MMPI and SCL-90., Results: MMPI tests indicated the personality abnormality in the objects. SCL-90 tests manifested the mental health abnormality of them compared with Chinese models, especially in the female objects., Conclusion: More attention should be paid on the mental health of the objects of substance abstinence.

Objectives: To test the serum sexual hormone and sperm cytology in aspermia patients., Methods: Radioimmunoassay (RIA) and Wright-Giemsa stain were used to detect serum sexual hormone and sperm cytology in 45 aspermia patients., Results: Among the 45 patients, spermatogenetic cells were detected in 16 patients(35.6%). The level of serum testerone were decreased in 16 patients, and FSH, LH were increased in 13 cases as well as that of PRL in 4 cases., Conclusions: These results suggested that the testis function was demaged, the ratio of T/LH could further reflect the function of Leydig cells, the detection of PRL were significant only in diagnosis of aspermia induced by hypermia. It is an important index in identifying obstructive and non-obstructive aspermia and has important significance in estimating the extention of testis demage and commanding the clinical treatment of serum hormone detection and sperm cell analysis.
