Fermi acceleration by collisionless shocks is believed to be the primary mechanism to produce high energy charged particles in the Universe,where charged particles gain energy successively from multiple reflections off the shock front.Here,we present the first direct experimental evidence of ion energization from reflection off a supercritical quasi perpendicular collisionless shock,an essential component of Fermi acceleration in a laser produced magnetized plasma. We observed a quasi monoenergetic ion beam with 2,4 times the shock velocity in the upstream flow using time of flight method. Our related kinetic simulations reproduced the energy gain and showed that these ions were first reflected and then accelerated mainly by the motional electric field associated with the shock. This mechanism can also explain the quasi monoenergetic fast ion component observed in the Earth's bow shock.

In this paper, we develop the bialgebra theory for Lie-Yamaguti algebras. For this purpose, we exploit two types of compatibility conditions: local cocycle condition and double construction. We define the classical Yang-Baxter equation in Lie-Yamaguti algebras and show that a solution to the classical Yang-Baxter equation corresponds to a relative Rota-Baxter operator with respect to the coadjoint representation. Furthermore, we generalize some results by Bai in [1] and Semonov-Tian-Shansky in [19] to the context of Lie-Yamaguti algebras. Then we introduce the notion of matched pairs of Lie-Yamaguti algebras, which leads us to the concept of double construction Lie-Yamaguti bialgebras following the Manin triple approach to Lie bialgebras. We prove that matched pairs, Manin triples of Lie-Yamaguti algebras, and double construction Lie-Yamaguti bialgebras are equivalent. Finally, we clarify that a local cocycle condition is a special case of a double construction for Lie-Yamaguti bialgebras.

Class imbalance, which is also called long-tailed distribution, is a common problem in classification tasks based on machine learning. If it happens, the minority data will be overwhelmed by the majority, which presents quite a challenge for data science. To address the class imbalance problem, researchers have proposed lots of methods: some people make the data set balanced (SMOTE), some others refine the loss function (Focal Loss), and even someone has noticed the value of labels influences class-imbalanced learning (Yang and Xu. Rethinking the value of labels for improving class-imbalanced learning. In NeurIPS 2020), but no one changes the way to encode the labels of data yet. Nowadays, the most prevailing technique to encode labels is the one-hot encoding due to its nice performance in the general situation. However, it is not a good choice for imbalanced data, because the classifier will treat majority and minority samples equally. In this paper, we innovatively propose the enhancement encoding technique, which is specially designed for the imbalanced classification. The enhancement encoding combines re-weighting and cost-sensitiveness, which can reflect the difference between hard and easy (or minority and majority) classes. To reduce the number of validation samples and the computation cost, we also replace the confusion matrix with a novel soft-confusion matrix which works better with a small validation set. In the experiments, we evaluate the enhancement encoding with three different types of loss. And the results show that enhancement encoding is very effective to improve the performance of the network trained with imbalanced data. Particularly, the performance on minority classes is much better.

The physics informed neural networks (PINNs) has been widely utilized to numerically approximate PDE problems. While PINNs has achieved good results in producing solutions for many partial differential equations, studies have shown that it does not perform well on phase field models. In this paper, we partially address this issue by introducing a modified physics informed neural networks. In particular, they are used to numerically approximate Allen-Cahn-Ohta-Kawasaki (ACOK) equation with a volume constraint.

A LieYRep pair consists of a Lie-Yamaguti algebra and its representation. In this paper, we establish the cohomology theory of LieYRep pairs and characterize their linear deformations by the second cohomology group. Then we introduce the notion of relative Rota-Baxter-Nijenhuis structures on LieYRep pairs, investigate their properties, and prove that a relative Rota-Baxter-Nijenhuis structure gives rise to a pair of compatible relative Rota-Baxter operators under a certain condition. Finally, we show the equivalence between $r$-matrix-Nijenhuis structures and Rota-Baxter-Nijenhuis structures on Lie-Yamaguti algebras.

In this paper, we establish the cohomology of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie-Yamaguti algebras via the Yamaguti cohomology. Then we use this type of cohomology to characterize deformations of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie-Yamaguti algebras. We show that if two linear or formal deformations of a relative Rota-Baxter operator are equivalent, then their infinitesimals are in the same cohomology class in the first cohomology group. Moreover, an order $n$ deformation of a relative Rota-Baxter operator can be extended to an order $n+1$ deformation if and only if the obstruction class in the second cohomology group is trivial., Comment: Comments are welcome!

Exploration of the QCD phase diagram and critical point is one of the main goals in current relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The QCD critical point is expected to belong to a three-dimensional (3D) Ising universality class. Machine learning techniques are found to be powerful in distinguishing different phases of matter and provide a new way to study the phase diagram. We investigate phase transitions in the 3D cubic Ising model using supervised learning methods. It is found that a 3D convolutional neural network can be trained to effectivelly predict physical quantities in different spin configurations. With a uniform neural network architecture, it can encode phases of matter and identify both second- and first-order phase transitions. The important features that discriminate different phases in the classification processes are investigated. In this letter, we revisit the IEQ method and provide a new perspective on its ability to preserve the original energy dissipation laws. The invariant energy quadratization (IEQ) method has been widely used to design energy stable numerical schemes for phase-field or gradient flow models. Although there are many merits of the IEQ method, one major disadvantage is that the IEQ method usually respects a modified energy law, where the modified energy is expressed in the auxiliary variables. Still, the dissipation laws in terms of the original energy are not guaranteed. Using the widely-used Cahn-Hilliard equation as an example, we demonstrate that the Runge-Kutta IEQ method indeed can preserve the original energy dissipation laws for certain situations up to arbitrary high-order accuracy. Interested readers are highly encouraged to apply our idea to other phase-field equations or gradient flow models.
